hes also extremely supportive and respectful about peoples identities and doesnt tolerate hate of any kind, hes very quick to shut any of that up if hes around to see it and its directed at anyone who isnt him (he just trolls the people if they try to direct any of that to him tbh)

i can say this as someone who has had their personal boundaries and identity (including pronouns) respected directly and personally by this man, and ive seen him do this multiple times both just generally online and live on stream. hes very willing to give a benefit of a doubt to people, hes very open minded, but will shut it down if people are nasty to others no matter what

#i feel like the community he has built around him is a safe space for especially lgbtqia+ identities and thats so important to me #he doesnt necessarily always get it. but thats understandable cause hes trying and hes still supportive as all hell #im just.. hes so important okay? okay #just.. wanted to put this out there #yall know hes respectful as hell to me ive told this story before but he does it to everyone. even the nasty ones cause hes good like that #but especially within his own community theres so much respect. its just.. beautiful #idk its late and this topic makes me emotional. just have this semi rant i have a fic to write #box thoughts

I don't really understand how people don't understand aro/aspec people?

Like aro people just don't want a romantic relationship and aspec people just don't want sex. It's literally that simple. It's not that they 'haven't found the right partner yet' or that 'nobody has shown romantic interest in them' it's just that they don't want sex if they're aspec or romance if they're aro.

To all the people who think aspec people aren't LGBTQIA+ because we aren't "discriminated against enough", here's a lovely list of reasons why you need to educate yourself:

- We suffer from dehumanisation, people actively devaluing or even erasing our humanity because of our identities (The voidpunk community is heavily supported by aspec people because of this)

- We suffer from self hatred due to feeling as if and being told we are broken, that no one can be happy unless they're in a romantic/sexual relationship, because of allonormativity and amatonormativity that actively damages our mental health

- Amatonormativity shapes laws that put us at an active disadvantage, such as giving married people financial and legal benefits

- Aspec people have been victims of conversion therapy, correctional rape, a lower quality of life, and other effects of being a marginalised and oppressed group

- We suffer from our identities being pathologised and deal with medical stigma because of this, causing many of us to feel unwelcome in and even avoid health care settings

- We suffer from our identities being erased, which can range from people completely denying our existence and people equating it to celibacy, to an almost complete absence of aspec representation in the media (It's been getting better lately, especially for alloaces and aroaces, but I have yet to ever see a canon aroallo character, and representation for those on the spectrum rather than in the extremes is often ignored)

- YOU are creating a hateful, exclusionary space in a community meant to be about inclusion. The same thing that happens to us happens to bisexual people, to polyamorous people, and other identities that are "disputed." In a community meant to be about rejecting the norm, YOU are shoving us out because we don't fit the norm of being LGBTQIA+. Because we're not enough like you.

These are only a few examples of aphobia that people like me deal with. Discrimination and oppression against aspec people stretches far beyond this.

But even if it didn't, it is disrespectful and harmful to everyone involved to gatekeep membership in the community based on oppression and discrimination.

We aren't LGBTQIA+ because we experience oppression. We are LGBTQIA+ because our existence alone goes against heteronormativity and other societal norms forced upon us.

I unfortunately saw something I didn't want to see and that was my last straw. I'm fucking doing this.

Let's establish this first. Alastor is stated in the show to be asexual that is not up to discussion. He is also very heavily implied in the same conversation to be aromatic. 'An Ace in the hole' being used in context of him being with Charlie is also implying his aromanticism.

If that's not enough then here is Viv speaking about his romantic orientation. It's pretty clear despite the fact that afterwards she said it's okay to headcanon whatever (it's not but I will get o that later) that he is written purely as an aro ace character.

On top of that going by Alastor's interaction with Angel from the pilot and the first episode it is clear that he is sex repulsed. Not only that but on the fandom website he is stated to be touch averse with two sources which you can check out on the website.

Now we established that Alastor is canonically Asexual, Aromantic, Sex Repulsed and Touch Averse

As I also am all of the above I'll try to explain everything to the best of my ability as simply as I can.

Aromanticism and Asexuality.

I'm probably targeting the audience that knows those terms but regardless I will explain it anyway.

Aromantic - people that experience little to no romantic attraction towards any gender

Asexual - people that experience little to no sexual attraction towards any gender.

Little to no

Asexuality and aromanticism are spectrums in which people can feel certain attractions towards people but those attractions are less occurring or are defined by personal connection.

However some people are at the end of the spectrum, they never felt attraction and that's valid. Alastor was stated to be aroace he wasn't written as demi or as gray he was written as aroace as in the end of the spectrum. His repulsion and not giving shit about romance or sex speaks for itself.

Representation

I do understand that everyone wants to be represented but it's so important to understand that aroace people are one of the most underrepresented queer groups in the media.

And I'm not here to scream about how I want my fav character to be just like me I don't care for it I'm way too confident in my orientation to rely on that however I'm tired of explaining to people what asexuality and aromanticism is just to receive 'are you sure' or 'you'll change your mind' or 'its not real' or the community favourite 'you'll find the right person' no I won't I'm not looking thank you very much (I just smile and nod to be polite and I'm sick of it).

'Harmless' buts like: 'He might be on the spectrum', 'AroAce people can still feel attraction' hurt the final outcome for all the people on the spectrum not only strictly aroaces because it allows people to write one shots with 'Demi Alastor' that falls in love in 2000 words because he is 'demi' (spoiler alert: they don't understand what that label means). It's just a cover, an opening, sneaky way to disregard his orientation, feel good about themselves and move on. Newsflash there is no moving on for aroace people it's our life.

Shipping

Shipping is just harmless fun right? Usually yes but not in this case. In the same way its not okay to ship gay characters with genders they are not attracted to.

It's erasure and since there is much less people identifying on aro/ace spectrums then there is gay or bi people our voices are being silenced. Not to mention that gay people received support from entire LGBTQIA+ community over the years in contrast to aro/ace specs who to this day are told that we are 'not queer enough' or 'not oppressed enough' often by other queer people.

And finally... FINALLY we get cannon Aro/Ace character that is clearly not interested in romance and sex. Character that beats stereotypes of boring and timid aro/ace people and what's the first people do? They ship him. Alastor's storyline provides so many points to be explored like 'what is his backstory', ' what's about his deal', ' how does he fit in in the found family trope' , 'does he care about hotel guests' yet people choose to write about the only thing that he is not interested in. As a heavily repulsed person that used to be horrified about the fact that I'll have to fall in love with somebody at some point before I found out what aro/ace is I find it repulsive and trust me he would too.

But Viv said it's okay!

Its the same point once again. What if Viv said that it's okay to ship gay Angel with woman. She doesn't have authority to say shit like that.

Queerplatonic relationships

I can't tell you not to do it I don't think he would be necessary interested in it but for fuck sake do your research and try to understand what queerplatonic means before you use it as a cover to shamelessly ship him. Respect the fact that he is sex repulsed and touch averse and you're fine.

Why can't you just avoid it?

First of all I shouldn't have to. Alastor's orientation should be respected in the fandom like any other orientation is. Second of all I've tried. I tried to only look up AroAce Alastor tag I've blocked over 80 people on tumblr alone (I just counted) to avoid to see anything that could trigger me and I'm not talking about slightly shippy posts or fanarts I'm talking about full blown disregard towards his orientation. Guess what it didn't work!

Archive of our own where do I start. I've used this website for over a decade and I could probably count days I didn't go there on my fingers. I'm fluent in AO3 I know which tags I should block. I know how to skim thorough the summary and tags to see if I'm interested. I've seen shit I'm a shipper I've been on ao3 for ten years but never had to mentally prepare myself to face queerphobia as I click on the tab.

Just use aro/ace Alastor tag.

I do and let me tell you people can't tag for shit or they just pretend to be clueless at this point. Besides see this?

there is more ff with Alastor/reader (disgusting) than there is Alastor with his canon orientation and to play the devils advocate for arophobic people there is more Angel/Alastor then his stated in the show sexuality. I understand that fandom goes back before the show was aired but Viv confirmed his orientation back then too.

Summary

I could go on and on bout different issues and maybe I will in the future but I'm not wasting anymore of this weekend on it. I'm ready to answer any questions as long as they are respectful.

I'm aware that he is a fictional character, it doesn't affect him in any way whatsoever but it does affect aromantic and asexual people keep it in mind.

If there are any mistakes grammar related I'm not sorry I'm fluent in English (not my first language) but I took 3h nap in between and I'm sleep deprived.

*Just based on my experiences, only take what resonates

-Starting a new relationship during Venus in retrograde is guaranteed to teach you a karmic lesson with a probably karmic partner (I’ll never forget mine oml)

-Under developed Venus ruled men/ Men with heavy Venus placements are a nightmare. Underdeveloped ones choose to be chaotic with charming energy. Like f-boys or like vampires. They just tend to run through people and use them for validation. Sometimes they grow out of it and become better. A lot of times they just get too big of an ego and get narcissistic in this energy and are just destructive.

-The house your Juno is in could be an indicator of your soulmate’s placements (ex if your Juno is in Aries your partner may have Juno in first. Or if your Juno is in 5th they may have Leo in Juno. If your Juno is in Libra they may have Juno in 7th.)

-Libra/Taurus/Venus in 1st house people can get away with such criminal behavior lol, people will never blame them or they will always want to see the best in their actions. I feel like Leo Asc/Sun in 1st can get through a lot of actions with confidence but they usually do face blow back at some point if they’re behaving badly.

-Neptune 1st house/Pisces rising will have a more erratic sort of filter applied to them. Like usually they’ll get like subconsciously softened and idealized by others but they’ll also get certain traits like air head or spacey applied to them. Basically getting elevated and infantilized the most imo.

-Having North Node in Pisces can be a murky karmic placement. I’ve found that North Node in Pisces can manifest as anything from spiritual devotion and detachment from others to lifelong addiction and reliance on substances, any path that has heavy Neptunian themes which feels like a roulette since Neptune rules over confusion.

-Mars MC can be a sex symbol placement for any gender, someone known for their body or having a striking presence.

-Venus MC is definitely someone that’s known for being a charmer at best and a player at worst. Still very good with people either way.

-MC in Scorpio can manifest as someone that’s seen as constantly going through transformations and tribulations in their career and public life. Alchemy or catastrophe, always at an extreme.

-Venus can show where you are the most appealing to others (Venus in 1st would be seen as charming and probably having a very pretty face, Venus in 2nd would been seen as luxurious and having many resources and having a pretty body, Venus in 3rd would be a very charming speaker and likely have a voice that draws in others, etc I can make a whole post on this if anyone’s curious)

-Aquarius Venus/Venus in 11th fall in love with someone unconventional, or someone they met in an unconventional way (online dating, penpal programs, stuff like that)

-I find all fixed moons have really intense emotions, they just express it in different ways (yo if you’ve ever just disagreed with an Aquarius moon you know they can get touchy if you’re not on the same page with their logic)

-Aquarius is not a great way to figure out if someone is queer imo. The connotation of being lgbtqia+ being essentially strange/out of the norm is … something already but plenty of queer icons that live with their careers/lives revolving around the queer community have no Aquarius in their charts at all (I was looking at Elvira’s chart after this Matt Baume video on YouTube about how she’s a queer icon that was elevated by the queer community and was a closeted lesbian and she turned out not to have a single Aquarius placement, a Virgo stellium and Leo placements stood out the most to me). Sappho is the asteroid to check out for wlw I’m not sure for mlm but I’m sure Greek mythology has given us a great asteroid for the mascs

-Squares to north node can present “delays” with your destiny (more so having to hone aspects of your personality, having certain experiences beforehand, and coming into your destiny later in life, Joe Biden is an interesting example of this lots of squares and harsh aspects to north node and he ran for president like 7 times before he won, even became Vice President before, so interesting)

- (TW scars, harm) Scorpio can show where you have organic scars/birthmarks (Scorpio in 1st birth marks/freckles just appear on my face) where as Pluto can show where you get scars through experiences (I have Pluto in 2nd and I got burned on the lower third of my body when my dad left me in a hot water bath as a baby :/)

After accidentally running into the Pro-Israel side of Tumblr, media, and politics, I can safely say,

-They blame Hamas for the murder of children and infants in the war, creating illustrations of propaganda showing such. Ex) a drawing of a Hamas soldier with a baby stroller, holding it infront of him as he ducks behind it for cover and shoots at an Israeli soldier, who is ducking infront of another stroller as a human bodysheild to protect it.

-They justify the war by the excuse of 'war is war' or 'Hamas started it'/'Hamas are all terrorists'. And don't even elaborate or back up how that is true.

-The Israeli soldiers are 'blowing off steam' when they are shitting in their own tanks, posing with Gazan women's lingerie and mannequins, and recording videos of them actively committing war crimes.

-The murders they commit of innocent children and civilians are justified as 'Hamas caused this'/'Everyone in Palestine is a participant in terrorism or terroristic beliefs'/'Palestine could end this if they gave up the hostages'/'Palestine started it by taking the hostages and committing terroristic war crimes'. All from people who don't know what they're talking about and/or have seen very little on the entire situation.

-'The entire Pro-Palestinian movement is the most Anti-American and antisemetic thing right now and is absolutely disgusting.' -Steve Bannon, War Room: Pandemic, 2024. He worked for Trump in the Whitehouse before getting arrested, and promptly started his own republican television show (that my father watches 24/7--to put this statement into context of what this man spouts: everytime he refers to a trans person, he says 'freak'. He calls women 'females' with the most disgusting tone of voice like he is physically repulsed by the idea of them. He supports the man in the situation of a woman being the victim. He claimed to be an advocate and that he was 'actively assisting black people' because he said rude shit about a lady judge in 'defence' over a black person, and so much more).

And so much other shit, it's pathetic. The true art of indoctrination and lack of evidence shown to Israeli people and even children, is sickening. If Lilly's (and other's) self immolation wasn't enough, it's being put down as an act of a 'psychotic man having been indoctrinated by leftist media'. I'm sorry, Lilly was an active member of the US force, and she was tired of what she was seeing, and could've even potentially have been required to partake in (given Biden sent American troops to assist Israel). Her act of self immolation was as heroic as any other martyrdom act committed during the 1900's in the name of equality between races. It's a different century, but as those were viewed and put into history as heroism, so should Lilly. She died for her belief that this is a disgusting genocide.

We have all the evidence we need and these stupid childish ass soldiers taking their little happy ass videos and posing for selfies only demonises them more. If any historian looked back 20 years from now, they'll be disgusted.

I go into detail about each House, what they represent, their background and what it means to be sorted into a certain House.

Figuring out which Hogwarts House you belong to has been around since the HP series came out. But I think there’s more to it than simply choosing to be in ‘the brave house’ or ‘the smart house.’ I think it reveals a lot about a person - or rather, a large aspect.

Passing this on from one of my Facebook friends, so maybe we can help Maddie and her wife get somewhere safer. Below is the text from my friend Viki on Facebook:

Hi friends. As many of you know, Florida is a virtual dumpster fire where Trans rights are concerned. The LGBTQIA+ community is DeSatan's pet hate and right now, Trans individuals are his legislation's biggest focus.

The most current update is a law - not a bill, this has passed and will be put into place - that declares sex and gender the same thing. You will not be able to change your gender marker on your legal state identification. Moreso, it's considered fraud if you do. It is literally becoming illegal for my trans friends to be themselves.

Maddie is a good friend and I've known and loved her through her entire coming out process. She and her wife are my People and I hate losing them, but Maddie's safety has to come first. And right now the only way to guarantee she remains safe is to get her out of this state. Those of us who are able to stay and keep fighting can and should but that isn't the case for everyone. On top of needing to relocate to a blue state, they'll also need to house the both of them while they find new work, transportation if they're temporarily separated (they currently share a car), and just anything that might get them on their feet.

I know this is a hard time economically. I personally am counting coins. But anything that can get the word out counts.

And vote. I know we will never have a Perfect Candidate. There will never be one person everyone can agree on. But we can't keep letting the administrations we have continue or there won't be a common ground to launch from.

It's Banned Books Week!

While this isn't really a week to celebrate because censorship and the suppression of diverse voices is never okay, this is a week to lift up the work of educators, librarians, authors, book publishers, anyone who has a hand in making sure everyone's voice is represented in the books we love. The past few years have seen an increase in school boards across the country banning books in classrooms and libraries. The most egregious, to me, has been the removal of classroom sets of books in Florida. The ALA released early data on the number of challenged books for 2023 so far and its heartbreaking. The data reveals that, "Between January 1 and August 31, 2023, OIF reported 695 attempts to censor library materials and services and documented challenges to 1,915 unique titles - a 20% increase from the same reporting period in 2022, which saw the highest number of book challenges since ALA began compiling the data more than 20 years ago. The vast majority of challenges were to books written by or about a person of color or a member of the LGBTQIA+ community." (https://www.ala.org/advocacy/bbooks/book-ban-data) I don't know about you but this makes me want to fight even harder.

So, what can you do? The ALA provides an cool list of ways you can get involved not just this week but all year round such as volunteer at a library, speak out at a school board meeting, join organizations such as Unite Against Book Bans, purchase and share banned books, and even attend some of the events this week. Check out this page (Banned Books - Get Involved) for more detailed information about how you can help.

Starting today the ALA is hosting a few events that you can gain insight and inspiration. I'm looking forward to Banned Books Week Honorary Chair LeVar Burton's talk tonight at 8pm EST (5pm for you Cali folk like me) and a roundtable discussion titled "A Seat at the Table: Youth Advocates on Fighting Books Bans" by students leaders doing the hard work on Thursday at 8pm EST/5pm PST. Click on this page (Banned Books - Events) to get more information.

Lastly, Saturday, October 7th is Let Freedom Read Day where the ALA is asking us all to commit to doing at least one thing to help fight against censorship and support those on the front line. On their page (Let Freedom Read) is a list of actions that you could do on Sunday (or any day really), but for me, personally, please send love to a teacher or librarian because we could really use the support. Just saying "I'm there for you" or maybe donating a book to a teacher's personal classroom library would go far in the fight against censorship. If there is any time to give back to those who promote literacy and representation for all, this is the week to do it.

a big part of the reason i'm still alive today and somehow find a way to keep fighting every day is because i've found [queer] safe places on the internet to be able to freely talk about, support, and try to understand my identities without safe places like this, there is zero doubt in my mind that i would have given up a while ago with the kosa bill that is scarily coming close to being passed (it's gone through the senate), it is terrifying to me that our first amendment right is seriously being voted to be TAKEN AWAY by politicians who are supposed to help this bill CAN. NOT. be passed. please please please, call/email your state legislature. there are scripts to use on tumblr and the internet, but PLEASE raise this as an issue, it is such a huge deal these safe places have saved my life, and i'm sure that they've saved many others. please, for the love of everyone in the lgbtqia+ community, do everything you can so that this bill does not get passed i'm very sure that if it does get passed, queer/questioning kids, teens, and adults alike will begin to die and not necessarily directly by the hands of another i know that if this passes, i probably will there's no way i'd personally be able to handle it if all of the places i turn to for resources, information, and support were taken away WE NEED TO ALL BAND TOGETHER SO THAT THE KOSA BILL DOESNT PASS

The A in LGBTQIA+ standing for Ally has an important place in queer history, by standing for Ally it provided protection to queers in the closet, allowing them to attend events and rallies under the guise of allyship, keeping them and theirs safe.

Ok this is gonna be a bit of a longer response but I hope you choose to read this.

I am in no way denying the importance of allies but the point I was trying to make earlier is that being an ally should be basic human decency. It’s sickening that we live in a world where being an ally is something that warrants praise and congratulation in the first place because it should be the bare minimum. In theory everyone should be an ally.

That’s like someone saying “hey I’m NOT a serial killer” and everyone else congratulating them for not killing others. You get what I’m saying?

Of course I’ll always be incredibly thankful for allies existing especially because I live in a very conservative/homophobic country and it’s nice to feel supported. That still doesn’t mean that allies need to be part of the LGBTQ community, because allies are not queer themselves.

The entire point of the LGBTQ community is to welcome queer people, not allies who aren’t at all queer themselves. The A exists for actual queer identities such as agender, aromantic and asexual, it should not be made to accommodate to people who aren’t queer at all, and aren’t even a part of the community.

What’s more a lot of actual aspec identities such as aromantic and asexual don’t get a lot of attention drawn to them in the queer community because of people who keep insisting that A should stand for ally.

I hope I managed to explain my reasoning in a nice way, and although I’m grateful for the existence of allies, it should not be the queer community’s responsibility to count them as a part of the LGBTQ itself.

Good Omens mascot here! It's so amazing that the Good Omens fandom is so accepting and wonderful, but all the same, I want to remind everyone that people on the aroace spectrum are part of the LGBTQIA+ community, and are queer, because they are on the aroace spectrum. Yes that includes all of them. I'm aspec myself, and I realised it thanks to the amazing people on tumblr, and I'm accepting myself more each day here.

ON THAT NOTE, VERY IMPORTANT VERY WONDERFUL NEWS, the fabulous, amazing, and very supportive maggot @queermarzipan HAS REALISED THEY ARE ASPEC, CAN WE ALL CONGRATULATE HER PLEASE? WELCOME TO THE COMMUNITY WE LOVE YOU.

The fact that she realised it by going through my posts until she hit one where I'd been questioning if I was aspec and people on tumblr helped me out is honestly so wild. Fandom is a crazy wonderful thing and I'm so happy for them, and I'm so glad that we're all guiding each other not just down the pipeline of fandom masochism but also on other random paths of acceptance and positivity.

There's an aspec Crowley fic that @eviebane shared with me, I read a few paragraphs and felt so represented that I had to put it away for later because TOO MANY EMOTIONS. I'm sure there are many more fics with the GO characters as aspec and that's amazing.

WOOHOOO man being ill is NOT doing wonders for my sanity. If it's winter where you live bundle up warm please, this fandom loves handing each other hot cocoa anyway so.

Side note, everyone who has been tagging me on Doctor Who posts, I'm absolutely traumatised and will make a Pt II of Doctor Who. Thanks guys.

LGBTQIABCDEFJ is not real just stop. It's made up acronym that is rarely used outside of tumblr. Queer is not an identity its just an adjective. most intersex people explicitly state they do not consider themselves lgbt. Most lgbt people do not want to associate with aro and aces. And most lgbt in the real world living normal lives and not chronically online have little to no contact or knowledge of asexuals we literally dont care. Ur existence is so insignificant offline and if we ever met a self proclaimed aroace het cis man we would probably make sure we never had to associate with him again. Ur not gay just give it up and go live a normal life. Ur a single cis person. U either dont have the emotional capacity to love someone or u are sex repulsed and dont want to have a relationship with someone either way thats just normal and there are plenty of people like that we dont really care if u want to be alone all ur life just leave actual struggling gay people alone and shutup about ur stupid discourse no one cares except urselves.
