so. um. 👉👈
hi guysies.
Ig I should just say like. Hi
I haven't been posting here as much cause. Idk. Might be depression? I keep thinking its cause I've been so busy, which also wouldn't be not untrue, but these past, like, 3 weeks I think so far? I've had some free time but I haven't cause. I dunno, then again, I haven't been doing too much in general? I gues, besides very mandatory things, hell I've even been lacking in my regular skyrim hours of playing.
That, and as said, I get super melancholic when I remember just how sad and bittersweet it is that t0h is. Actually legit over. The show and experience, that is.
Oh all that and also becuz my headphones broke! Fuck! That's like number 2 in my bare necessities for when I post, do almost anything really! It's seriously been painful this past month going without headphones holy shit. Dude I've been scratching at the bit for some relief for headphones, I NEED music legitimately. Even right now, as I'm typing this on my phone, my music is on low levels.
But yerp. Its been. Rough. Really rough. I really do appreciate yall, everyone of yall. Have a sweet week everyone, ✌️!
#the butts chronicles#ogh but yea. been rough.#as said I have no idea if we'll keep this house cause man shits been fucked#uhhhh. lets see. recently my sister got into a fairly nasty argument with her husband since they were both drunk and hes a bit of a. hm#quick to being mad guy? I spose? but yea they made up and he actually apologized to me and my family for that so. its okay?#OH YEA FUCK LOL a few weeks ago fuckin tecksas got hit nasty with a hurricane and GUYS. I FREAKED OUT SO BAD LOL#cuz there was hail with the rain but since. I dont think we even ever experienced hail here I was scared that my ceiling roof broke again#and that it was the rain leaking to my room ceiling and was about to burst my ceiling so I legit started hyperventilating and panicking#with like. short and heavy breathing and almost crying badly until I went to look outside and saw hail and only slightly calmed down#oh but yea it was nasty lol. then the next day almost the entire block lost power and apparently sparks were happening cause fallen trees#uhhh. lets see. hmmm. OH OH RIGHT DAMN I FORGOT WE GOT A PUPPY LOL#we've gotten a lil pup all the way back from dec? iirc and she is now older and a shit lol shes in her teething phase and whatnot#still p cute tho and very puppyish. oh yea also during dec our power went out and ogh man dec was so freezing literally.#almost as bad as the one from. uhhh I cant remember the exact year but I remember it being within these past 4 years at least cause I read#a t0h fic during it lol. oh yea speaking of. we also changed our light company and damn. its been not bad so far! we had to pay up to 300#in our old company and now we dont even get to 200 so far! hope Im not jinxing it! hmm oh did I already say before that I had to get a new#phone? cause I did and I did not enjoy it lol. had it for a while and now and its arguably worse cause no damn headphone plug-in#I think I did mention this but in case. I did finish counseling. well more accurately they required payments again since things and whatnot.#I think? I mentioned the stuff I got for my bday and chmisas. I got mostly neat stuff. I guess. one of them has still yet to arrive lol#uhhhh. hrm. I did get Mr. Martinet's autograph as a present! hrmmm#my other sister got another surgery a while back and its been relatively the same since. hmm. my only other living grandparent passed away#me and my ex got into a. not great argument cause mistakes and whatnot. raccoons in the attic thats hopefully taken care of for now#aaaaand the plushes I ordered a damn near year ago have been technically canceled cause of unfortunate circumstances for the creator#who just kinda. posts things now lol ig.#but yea. lots. holy shit guys. lots has happened. fuck man. I think Ive been way more tired than I thought.#not to mention the past weeks of just. reflecting. man#uhhh#long post#LOL i gues#but yerp.

A kiss amidst the bookshelves
pairing: Remus x reader
word count: 2k
tags / description: friends to lovers, first kiss, steamy kiss, bookish Remus and reader, best friend Sirius, friendship fluff, romance fluff, gn
“You look like you’re about to murder him,” Sirius snarks, falling into the sofa next to you amidst the noise of the party surrounding you, following your gaze across the room.
“I…” you begin your routine protesting but give it up. He raises an eyebrow expectantly, surprised.
“You…?”
An exasperated sigh, then, “I… it… ugh,” you drop your face into your palms and speak into them, “Murder would simplify things.” Sirius barks a laugh in response.
“Do you want an accomplice in offing our best mate?” His smile is conspiratorial, but there’s something in his eyes behind his typical teasing tone.
“Would you mind? I don’t know if I can go through with it,” you joke seriously. “If you do the killing part, I promise I’ll help hide the body.” Sirius, smiling but knowing, pulls you into him, his arm around your shoulders, your head coming to rest on him.
“To be fair, that would probably be the more difficult part,” he continues, and he feels your chuckle against his chest. “I know I can take him, but our Moony is pretty tall; it might pose a problem when we have to move him after.”
An affirmative “hm” is all you offer in response, basking in his warm comfort silently for a moment.
“Or…” he cuts the quiet. “And hear me out here, love. I know homicide will seem the more appealing option initially… but you could, you know, tell him how you feel.”
“Murder. I choose murder,” you deadpan.
“Y/NNN,” he whines with the tinge of a scold.
“Siriusss,” you mimic childishly.
He sighs and says, “Darling, I know it’s scary,” he squeezes you, “but your miserable pining is seriously starting to bum me out. I don’t know how much more I can take honestly.” You pull away from him and shove his shoulder as he chuckles. “Alright, alright, sorry. I suppose I’m slightly concerned for your happiness as well.” The energy between you shifts palpably. You don’t get this side of Sirius much, and the gravity of it shakes you.
“I can’t,” you whisper, looking down.
“You can,” he responds immediately, gently pushing your chin up, his thumb stroking your jaw.
“Everything alright?” a third voice, achingly familiar, startles you. You rush to wipe the ghosts of tears before turning to where he’s taking a seat on the arm of the sofa, looking down at you and Sirius.
“All good, mate,” Sirius answers before you have to, and you grin gratefully at him.
“Sure?” Remus checks, looking straight at you, feigning levity.
“Yeah, ‘course,” you say lightly. “How’s Mary doing?” you ask, nodding to where he had just been chatting enthusiastically to her across the room. You’d always suspected they’d had feelings for each other back in your school days. “Good, good,” he nods. “We were just catching up, hadn’t seen her in a while. I might show her the shop next week actually. Think she’ll enjoy it.” You stomach sinks at this. “Oh yeah?” you hear the strain in your voice, your efforts at hiding your dismay clearly failing. So you quickly add, “That’s great, Rem. I’m sure she’ll love it.” Remus — the Remus that can read you like a children’s book — squints his eyes a bit at you, confused by your tension, probably still pondering the moment he interrupted between you and Sirius.
The shop. Your shop. Your favourite place on Earth. A place you thought of as yours and his. I mean, it was, technically, but you know. You’d opened the bookshop together about a year ago now, and business was tough but picking up. Though you weren’t making much money (yet, hopefully), you and Remus were the happiest you’d been in years, finally doing something both of you found joy in, and together no less.
“Speaking of,” you start, stretching. “I have some work I wanted to finish, so I think I’m going to get going.” “Now?” he asks in disbelief. “It’s late, love. I don’t remember there being anything urgent?”
“No, I know; it’s not.” You get up a bit awkwardly. Standing in front of where he’s perched on the sofa, you’ve gone from looking up at him to down. He really is beautiful from any angle, you think to yourself. You realize you’re staring; you don’t know how strangely, but you see he’s looking expectantly at you, curiousity gleaming in his deep brown eyes. “Urgent, I mean,” you stutter out. “It’s just that inventory I’ve been trying to finish up.”
“You can do that tomorrow,” he tries. “I’ll help.” “No, it’s alright, Rem, really. I just feel like it now.” You smile a strained smile with fake ease but real warmth. Then, shaking off the heaviness of the moment, you give him a quick hug, turn to give Sirius a quick peck on the cheek goodbye, and head out.
You like the shop at night, when it’s empty and quiet. Well, sometimes it’s empty during the day as well, to be honest, but there’s something about the night and the blanket the darkness provides. You especially like it when Remus is there with you, but it’s nice when you’re alone too. Just you and the books and the sense that the shelves that envelop you hold endless possibilities and infinite feelings you can just melt into.
You walk down the cramped aisles for a few minutes, your eyes and your fingertips tracing the titles. When you stumble on a comforting favourite, you pull it down, and nestle into one of the two inviting armchairs you and Remus had set up in a cosy corner of the small space.
If it were any other activity, you would have been shocked at how quickly you were immersed, leaving the heaviness of your love and your worries in the real world to be picked up again on your way out. You are shocked, however, when, as you flip a page, a low voice says, “Hard at work I see.”
You jump, dropping the book, and screech, “Fucking hell, Remus! What the fuck? You scared the shit out of me.” He’s laughing like he can’t help himself as he kneels down in front of you to pick up the book, holding it in one hand and holding the other up in a gesture of guilty surrender. “Sorry. I’m sorry,” he chuckles. “It’s not like I was quiet coming in.”
“Well, I didn’t hear you,” you shoot angrily. “Clearly.” He’s grinning as he offers you the book. “Good choice,” he adds, giving it a little shake.
“Yeah, well, it’s comforting every time.” Your tone is easier now but still a little edgy as you grab the book and place it on the little table beside you.
“Hm.” He sounds serious; it makes you turn to him instinctively; you look into his concerned eyes. “And why did you need comforting this time?” His voice is a syrupy whisper, and his question makes time stand still.
Because I love you too much, you idiot, you think but don’t say. “I’m fine,” you do say.
“You’re not,” he responds. You look away.
“I’m fine enough.”
“Can you please tell me what’s wrong?” he pleads, putting his hand on your knee. “You’ve been weird all night.” “Don’t deny it,” he adds when you open your mouth to say something immediately. It’s not harsh. You close your mouth again, but don’t know what to say instead.
“Did something happen?” he prods after several moments. You stay silent, but tears well in your eyes, transfixed on his. He whispers your name lovingly and brings his other hand to your cheek, stroking gently. You nod before you can think yourself out of it. “I messed up, Rem,” you whisper. “When?” he asks, all kindness. After a mirthless chuckle you say, “Around when we were twelve I think. Maybe even eleven.” His thumb stops its comforting motion in his confusion; his eyebrows are furrowed; one side of his mouth seems conflicted about whether to laugh or not. “I don’t understand,” he says finally.
“It’s your fault, really,” you half-laugh, wiping your eyes. “What?” He tenses and pulls away from you, concern elevated to fear in his eyes and voice.
“I didn’t mean,” you start, leaning forward and grabbing his hands in yours. “That’s not what I meant.” Your voice is still tinged in a cynical snicker, but he’s clearly not amused.
“What did you mean then?” It’s sharper, and it hurts.
“I…” Another chuckle. “Y/N,” losing patience.
“Fuck, this is hard.” You take your hands back and cover your face with them, kneading in frustration. A beat. He says your name again, just as firm but much more gentle, and reaches for your hands, holding them again. “Whatever it is, you can tell me. I thought you knew that. We can work through anything, together… but you have to talk to me. Did I do something?”
You look back and forth between his eyes, hear Sirius’s voice in your head: “you can,” and take a deep breath.
“You can tell me,” he repeats, and you believe him… but can’t bring yourself to it.
“I can’t,” you whisper, and you hate the familiar sound of it in your ears. You see his posture sink in defeat, but he doesn’t let go of your hands.
“Can I show you instead?” you ask, terrified of what came next, but more terrified of never finding out. He nods eagerly and goes to stand up, but you squeeze his hands tighter and hold him in place. He settles back down where he’s knelt in front of you, staring at you intently. You shift to the edge of the chair, quite close to him now. One of your hands releases his and comes up toward his face. You hear him gasp as you run your fingertips along his cheekbone then along a prominent scar there. You keep going and run your fingers through his hair then let your hand rest there, on the back of his head among his soft brown curls. You look down at his lips. Your gaze lingers there, making your intention obvious as you move even closer to him. He’s stock-still as you approach, but when your nose touches his, he lunges hungrily forward to meet you.
He moans into your mouth as his arms wrap tightly around your waist, and yours comes up around his shoulders. Your chests are flush now, your legs open wider to accommodate his kneeling form in between them, leaning into you completely, devouring you. His lips work against yours, exploring; his hands, intent but indecisive, travel from pulling you close to holding your face firmly against his, his thumbs lovingly pushing into your jaw, his fingers wrapped in your hair. You immediately fall into a rhythm, opening your mouths to each other. He tastes like chocolate, and you giggle at the realization. Remus instinctively smiles at the sound of your laughter and the slight withdrawal from your mouth gives him the opportunity to trail away from your lips, slowly along your jaw, down to your neck, licking and lingering. You bare your neck to him, your breathing coming more heavily now, your grasp on him tighter. You grip his hair and croon his name, and he moans loudly. He gives your neck a final, wet kiss and pulls back to look at you.
His eyes are dark and lidded; his lips swollen and moist; his hair is messy, and the look on his face is one you’ve never seen before. He looks giddy and lustful simultaneously. Pulling your face to his with a hand at your nape, he rests his forehead against yours and gives you a hungry kiss, fast but firm. He chuckles.
“I still don’t understand.” “What?” you smile.
“How is this a problem?” His thumb is caressing you; his smile is beaming.
“I didn’t know if you felt it too,” you confess.
A teasing tsk then, “Quite daft for the cleverest person I know.” He brings your mouth to his again.

“I’m sorry, did you just say marriage?”
You sipped your coffee before shooting Becca and Sarah a grin, then popped a piece of your croissant in your mouth.
“Mm hm.”
“You’re getting married to-to my—” Becca stammered. “To my brother?”
“Yeah,” you said and looked around. “Do you guys think we should get mimosas?”
“What the fuck?!” Becca exclaimed. “Since when?”
“It’d better be this morning, Y/N,” Sarah said and you shrugged your shoulders.
“Technically around 48 hours ago.”
Becca gawked at you. “Y/N, I’m going to kill you.”
“Listen, I didn’t—” you waved your hands in the air. “I figured you’d want to hear it in person! It’s kind of a big deal, you know?”
“Jesus Christ…”
“Wait, start from the beginning,” Sarah said. “How did that happen?”
“I had a talk with my dad,” you said, biting inside your cheek. “He’s going to choose Ian.”
Sarah frowned while Becca pulled back slightly.
“He made up his mind?”
“Mm hm.”
“You’re sure you can’t convince him?”
You shook your head.
“No,” you said, your stomach doing a tense flip. “I thought I could but…he was very clear. He will not name me his heir, it’s going to be Ian.”
“That will mess everything up,” Becca said. “Including the truce, because—”
“Bucky won’t do business with him, neither will Sam or Steve,” you finished her sentence for her. “I told my father that but it didn’t even make him think twice.”
“Great,” Sarah muttered, and you shook your head.
“It doesn’t matter what he thinks,” you said. “I’m done waiting around for him to give me a chance. If he doesn’t want to give me power, I’ll take it for myself.”
“And that’s where Bucky enters the picture?”
“Exactly,” you said. “He will give me a way in, and once everything is in place I’ll take over.”
“Before Ian can?”
You nodded your head. “I’ll force my dad’s hand if I have to.”
“He’s not going to like it,” Becca sang in a teasing manner and you scoffed.
“It’s either that or we risk another war between the families,” you said. “To be honest with you, I don’t really care whether he likes it or not anymore. I’m the firstborn and it’s my right, he promised it to me all those years ago.”
“What happens when you take over though?” Sarah asked. “You and Bucky…?”
“We’ll get a divorce.”
Becca arched a brow and suppressed a smile. “Just like that?”
“Yeah, why not?” you said. “He doesn’t want to stay married to me a minute longer than it’s necessary, and I share the sentiment.”
Becca exchanged a knowing glance with Sarah, her smile widening before she turned to you.
“If you say so,” she muttered, taking a sip of her coffee and as if on cue, your phone started vibrating on the table. You checked the name on the screen, then answered it.
“Yeah?”
“Hi there, fiancée.”
You could already tell he was smiling from the tone of his voice and you rolled your eyes, then motioned at Becca and Sarah to give you a moment before getting up from your seat to walk out of the restaurant.
“What do you want?” you asked and he tsk tsked.
“Babe…”
“Don’t call me that.”
“My beautiful wife?”
“Don’t call me that either.”
“Mrs. Barnes?”
“There’s going to be another last name there as well, don’t forget about that one,” you said. “It’s hyphenated.”
“Yeah, for some reason…” he grumbled and you heaved a sigh.
“Is there a point to this conversation? Because if there isn’t, I’m going to hang up now.”
“Yeah,” he said. “There is actually. Before tonight’s dinner, I just figured you’d want to know that your father knows.”
Your eyes widened. “You told him about the engagement?”
“What? No!” he said quickly. “But he knows we’re together.”
“Except we’re not.”
“Well fine, he knows we’ve been spending time in the honeymoon suit.”
You leaned back to the wall and pinched the bridge of your nose before clearing your throat.
“He called you?”
“Not yet but my parents did.”
“That sounds like a fun conversation,” you said, smiling slightly. “What did they say?”
Bucky chuckled.
“My mom just asked how you were,” he said. “That’s her being subtle. And my dad told me to not fuck it up so, went as expected. Arthur didn’t call you?”
“He did, I just didn’t answer,” you said, pursing your lips together. “I don’t want to talk to him yet, so…”
“But are you going to be okay tonight?” he asked and you pulled your brows together.
“Why do you want to know?”
“Can I not ask about your wellbeing?”
“No,” your reply came way too fast. “That’s not on the prenup.”
“Jesus Christ…” he muttered and you checked your watch, then pushed yourself off the wall.
“So you’re going to the restaurant before me then?”
“Yeah, I think it’d be better if I got on your father’s good side before that conversation,” he said. “Considering I didn’t even give him a heads up—unless you want to go together?”
You scrunched up your nose. “Absolutely not,” you said. “Playing the dumbass in love will be even more difficult if I spend more than an hour with you.”
“I think you like spending time with me,” he said with a teasing tone and you scoffed.
“I’m hanging up now,” you said. “Don’t be late tonight.”
“Of course, wife.”
“Stop calling me that!” you snapped and hung up, then let out a breath.
“I can’t believe I’m marrying this asshole…” you murmured to yourself, then made your way back into the restaurant.
                                                 *
Tonight’s dinner was not going to be very easy to handle, you could already tell. Becca had always been too good at reading your mood, so as soon as you two stepped out of the car, she reached out to hold your hand, making you turn your head.
“It’ll be fine,” she said before you could even say anything and you licked your lips.
“It makes it official,” you muttered. “All of it.”
Becca paused for a moment, then shrugged her shoulders.
“What does it matter?” she asked. “If you’re going to get a divorce eventually…”
“Of course we will,” you said. “But it’s not just that, you know? Starting tonight, I’m going against everything my dad wants.”
Becca nodded her head.
“You are,” she said airily. “But if he didn’t want you to take over eventually, he shouldn’t have raised you as his heir to begin with. That shit is not a game, he can’t just change his mind.”
You pursed your lips together, keeping your eyes on the restaurant.
“People won’t be happy about it,” you muttered. “Me being an actual rival, or taking over.”
 “You’re the firstborn,” she reminded you. “It’s your right. And that’s what you want, so fuck what everyone else will think. You’re going to do amazing.”
You stole a look at him, fear churning your insides.
“You think so?” you rasped out, desperate to hear it out loud and Becca nodded fervently.
“I wouldn’t be here if I thought you couldn’t pull it off,” she said. “You’re going to be much better than your father. Trust me.”
You squeezed her hand. “Thanks Becca.”
“Keep in mind how helpful I am when you’re picking your bridesmaid gown colors,” she said, making you let out a laugh. “Friendly reminder, I don’t like lilac.”
“I know, I know…” you told her, throwing an arm over her shoulder to press a kiss on her cheek, then you both walked into the restaurant.
As usual, either your father or Bucky’s father had it closed down for the night so that you all could enjoy your dinner without any strangers around. The hostess greeted you and led you to your usual table which was already occupied by Bucky’s family and yours. Your father stood up as soon as he saw you and made his way to you.
“Good luck,” Becca muttered and smiled at him. “Hi Arthur!”
“Becca my dear, welcome!” your father said as she kissed his cheek.
“I’m starving already,” she said and went to sit down while your father turned to you.
“So?” he said. “You cannot pick up the phone, Y/N?”
You shrugged your shoulders. “I was busy.”
“Really?” he asked. “Too busy to send a text?”
You shrugged your shoulders again, pursing your lips together and he heaved a sigh.
“Sweetheart…” he said. “I don’t like this, you know that. I understand that we can have our disagreements but moving out of the house?”
“I didn’t move out of the house,” you said. “My stuff is still there.”
“But you’re not staying there?”
“I felt like a change of scenery.”
“Is that all?” he asked and you cleared your throat.
“Sort of.”
“Because what I’ve been hearing…” he said. “Not to mention, both you and Bucky planning this dinner?”
“I think we should wait for him to have this conversation—where is he anyway?” you asked, looking around the restaurant and your father frowned slightly.
“We thought you two were coming together.”
“He’s late?” you asked, nervousness shooting through you and your father waved a hand in the air.
“There’s a reason for that I’m sure,” he said. “Come on, sit down. We started already.”
“Great,” you muttered to yourself and followed him to the table and waved at Bucky’s parents Winnifred and George.
“Y/N, hello!” Winnifred stood up to hug you and you hugged her back before pulling back to wave at George.
“We were going to wait for you but you know how your father is,” Winnifred said and your father chuckled, gesturing surrender.
“I don’t mind,” you said, sitting down next to Becca as you nodded in Ian’s direction. “Ian.”
“Y/N.”
“So, what is this dinner about?” George asked and Winnifred shot him a look.
“George.”
“What? I’m curious. You would think this is a life-and-death situation the way Bucky talked about it.”
“I think we should uh…we should wait for him for that one,” you said and turned to the waiter who filled your glass.
“The chef is preparing your usual, ma'am."
“Thank you,” you said and sat up straighter while George smiled at Becca.
“Do you know what this is about?”
“Of course,” Becca said with a smile. “But I’m special.”
“Will this dinner take long?” Ian asked you, checking his phone. “I have plans for 10.”
“You’re welcome to leave,” you told him but before he could retort, Becca waved at someone by the entrance and you looked over your shoulder to see Bucky walk into the restaurant. You cleared your throat, then pushed your seat back.
“Excuse me for a moment,” you said and made your way to him.
“Charm, hey—”
“With me,” you said without even stopping and he turned around to follow you out of the restaurant, and you whirled around on your heels the moment you stepped outside, raising your brows at him.
“Are you serious right now?” you asked. “You were supposed to be here before me, that was the plan!”
“Okay, I know I’m late but in my defense—”
“No no, you said—”
“Job got in the way, I didn’t even get the chance to change,” he cut you off and raised his wrist so that you could see the sleeve of his white shirt. “I still have blood on my sleeve, look!”
“Do I look like your drycleaner from where you’re standing?” you snapped back in a whisper. “You said you’d come before me, and considering your relationships I’d say you’re used to that!”
He rolled his eyes. “To repeat, job got in the way.”
“You’re late to dinner because you were too busy punching someone and that’s a good excuse?”
“It was necessary!”
“It was necessary for it to be you punching that person, is that right?”
“Excuse me, lovebirds,” Becca’s voice reached you and you both turned to look at her as she leaned sideways to the entrance. “Have your fight later on, they’re getting restless.”
You ran a hand over your face.
“Alright,” you said. “So okay, when are we telling them?”
“My plate is already there and I’d rather if you did it right away,” Becca said, pointing back with her thumb. “They don’t look like they’ll stop asking what this dinner is about anytime soon.”
“You just don’t want mom to ask you about Leila,” Bucky told her and Becca shrugged her shoulders.
“I mean would it kill you to do something nice for me?” she asked, making him shake his head slightly. You bit back a smile and threw your shoulders back, trying to get rid of the tension in your body.
“Let’s get this over with,” you muttered more to yourself and made your way back to the table with Becca and Bucky following you.
“Good evening,” Bucky greeted everyone at the table with a smile. “Sorry I was late, it’s just…work.”
Becca went to sit down on her seat as you eyed your food, but stood beside Bucky, clenching and unclenching your fist just so that you could focus on something else other than the nervousness pulsing in your veins.
“Is everything alright?” Winnifred asked Bucky and he nodded his head.
“Oh yeah, two meetings clashed,” he lied, subtly rolling the sleeve of his shirt up. “There was a moment of chaos but it’s fixed.”
“So can we learn what this whole secrecy and emergency dinner is about now?” George said with a knowing smile and you stole a look at your father who looked almost impatient. Knowing them, every single person at the table except Becca thought Bucky and you were about to tell them you were dating, so you were sure that the news was going to be completely unexpected for all of them.
“Yeah,” you said, reminding yourself to smile as you leaned sideways to Bucky’s arm. “You can. Sorry about the secrecy, we just wanted it to be a surprise.”
Ian scoffed a small laugh.
“You staying in a hotel in his territory might have ruined that surprise,” he said and Bucky’s eyes narrowed but you elbowed him while your father gave Ian a warning glare, making him sit up straighter.
“So uh, it happened very recently,” you said, ignoring Ian. “And normally you would have heard beforehand.”
“For which I take full responsibility,” Bucky added with a smirk. “That’s on me.”
“I mean you know we’ve had this…strange dynamic for a while.”
“Ten years,” Becca muttered into her wine glass. “Not that anyone is counting.”
“But once we actually talked to each other, something happened,” you lied through your teeth, Bucky’s arm snaking around your waist as he nuzzled to the top of your head, making your heart skip a beat but you forced yourself to remember that it was all an act. Winnifred pressed a hand on her chest as if she was lost in her emotions while your father and George exchanged glances, both smiling slightly.
“And I hope that you’ll be happy for us,” you said and waited for a second, then cleared your throat. “Because we’re getting married.”
The impact of your words was immediate and very visible. Ian’s head shot up as Winnifred gasped in shock and your father’s eyes widened while George’s jaw dropped. Becca stifled a laugh, taking another sip of her wine as she leaned back in her seat.
“Married?!” Winnifred exclaimed as she jumped on her feet. “Oh thank God, this is the best news I could ever hope for!”
“Trust me mom, I was as surprised as you are,” Bucky said with a chuckle while Winnifred pulled you into a tight hug and your father tried to pull himself together.
“Married?” he repeated and you nodded when Winnifred pulled back to hug Bucky.
“Yeah.”
“That’s…uh—” your father stammered. “That’s wonderful news honey but you two have been dating for what? Two days?”
“Three days,” you said helpfully and Bucky hissed in a breath.
“I was going to get your permission, Arthur.”
“Why didn’t you?” your father asked him, looking him in the eye but Bucky didn’t look intimidated in the slightest.
“Oh come on Arthur, don’t be so traditional!” George said with a laugh. “They’re in love, and it’s not like they met three days ago. They’ve known each other their whole lives, I for one have been hoping for this to happen for almost ten years!”
“And we already know we want to spend the rest of our lives together.”
“Speaking of, where’s the ring?” Winnifred asked, making you and Bucky exchange glances before you turned to her.
Shit.
Of course he was supposed to have proposed with a ring.
“The ring!” you said. “Right, uh…Bucky?”
Bucky swallowed thickly and waved a hand in the air.
“The ring, that’s—that’s a funny story actually,” he said. “You see, we um—”
“My overly confident brother didn’t bother asking the best friend,” Becca cut him off airily, pointing at herself. “Surprise surprise; it was the wrong size. We went to the jewelers today to get it fixed, they said it’ll be ready within the week.”
Dear God, you loved Becca.
You subtly mouthed ‘thank you’ to her while George stood up to come closer to you.
“Congratulations son,” he said as he pulled him into a hug to slap him on the back. “You sure took your time. And Y/N, welcome to the family sweetheart.”
“Congratulations,” Ian said from where he was sitting and your father sighed, then stood up to hug you.
“We still need to talk about this,” he said. “But I’m very happy for you two.”
“Thanks dad,” you muttered as the waiters brought your food and you all sat down. You took your fork into your hand and George raised his glass.
“To happy couple!”
You and Bucky raised your glasses as well and your father took a sip of his drink, then leaned back in his seat.
“See, Y/N,” he said. “I know you’re still a bit angry at me but I told you. This right here will make you much happier than what we talked about earlier. That’s what matters.”
You arched a brow as Bucky turned to look at you better with a smirk and you stole a glance at him, a sly smile curling your lips as well.
Oh.
Of course your father naively believed that something as trivial as marriage could keep you from what you wanted. It was almost condescending at this point but you managed to hold back the retort, then clicked your tongue.
“Oh yeah,” you said, making Bucky chuckle. “I have a very clear idea of what’s actually important now, and I’ll make sure everyone else sees that as well.”
                                        *
When it was time to leave the restaurant, everyone was in a wonderful mood. Winnifred had so many ideas about the wedding, and as far as you could tell, your father had gotten over the annoyance of Bucky not having asked for his permission.
“So, are you coming home?” he asked you as George and Winnifred’s car drove off and you looked at Bucky who was talking to Becca by her car.
“Maybe later,” you said with a shake of your head. “Me and Bucky have things to talk about, so…”
Your father hummed.
“Alright,” he said. “What do you say we grab lunch tomorrow then?”
You thought for a moment, then shifted your weight.
“Sure, why not?”
“Good,” he said and hugged you. “You know I don’t like it when we fight.”
You pursed your lips together. “I know, I know...”
“I’ll see you tomorrow honey, please be careful,” he said and got in the car while Ian seemed to be in a deep discussion with Ryan. Ryan’s gaze found you over Ian’s shoulder and you offered him a small smile, then turned your head when you heard Becca say your name.
“Y/N are we meeting tomorrow?”
“Yeah after lunch,” you answered. “I’ve just promised my dad I’d have lunch with him, so…”
She nodded. “Okay, I’ll text you then?”
“Sounds great!” you said as she got into her car and the driver closed her door before getting into the driver’s seat. You looked into your purse, then let out a groan when you couldn’t find your phone.
“Great,” you muttered and made your way into the restaurant, the waiter stopping in his tracks the moment he saw you.
“Ma’am?”
“Hi again, I left my phone at the table,” you told him with a small laugh and he nodded.
“I’ll get it for you right away,” he said and went inside, then in a minute he was back with your phone. “Here.”
“Thank you so much,” you said. “Have a nice night!”
“You too ma’am,” he said and you left the restaurant again, then frowned as soon as you saw Ian talking to Bucky by his car while Ryan waited with Ian’s other bodyguards close by. You took a step towards them but neither of them seemed to notice you, and judging by the stern look in Bucky’s eyes, it wasn’t because they were having a fun conversation.
“…And that’s what she wants in case she didn’t tell you,” Ian said and Bucky narrowed his eyes at him.
“I know that.”
Ian shook his head slightly. “Don’t get me wrong, but—”
“Let me stop you right there Ian,” Bucky said, glaring daggers at him. “You’re not going to say anything that I might get wrong about the woman I love.”
Your stomach did a happy flip but you quickly frowned at yourself. It was just Bucky selling this whole idea that you were in love; it wasn’t as if you and he could ever fall in love or anything.
Even the thought of it was absolutely absurd.
You cleared your throat to announce you were there and they both turned to look at you.
“Hey babe,” Bucky said. “Are you ready?”
“Yeah,” you said without even sparing a glance at Ian as the driver opened the car door for you and you got in with Bucky following you suit. You massaged your temples, then leaned your head back when the driver started the car.
“You okay?” Bucky asked and you gritted your teeth, crossing your arms over your chest.
“The way my dad talks to me…” you muttered and Bucky scoffed a dry laugh.
“I know,” he said. “Trust me, I get it.”
“I don’t think you do,” you rasped out. “George never underestimated you or replaced you with another heir.”
That made him pause for a moment, a dark shadow crossing his eyes before he took a deep breath.
“No worries Charm,” he said. “He won’t get to underestimate you again once you get that crown.”
You felt a small smile curl your lips as you turned your gaze to the city lights outside, then heaved a sigh.
“Yeah,” you murmured. “I like the sound of that.”

Sans x Reader (BREAKFAST COMBO)(oneshot)
‘BreakfastCombo’
“so… how did the two of you meet anyways?” Fell asked, folding and unfolding the napkin he grabbed with his breakfast.
You were at a hotel (yes, all 7 of you, including you) in Colorado, staying there for the day until you drove down to the ski lodge tomorrow morning. Originally the plan was to leave today, but it started snowing. Snowing bad.
“Sans and I?” You questioned, not sure what he was referring to. There were 6 other skeletons.
He nodded, looking back to see his brother trying to make a plate of food with the hardly salvageable hotel breakfast buffet. “who else? m’ curious. he’s talked about you since the first day we showed up here.”
Hm. You sighed, staring down at the wooden table. God, how did you meet Sans? That was a long story that happened a really long time ago.
“Uhhh, I could tell you. Whydda ask?”
“m’ just wondering. s’ not like any of us had a human best friend like you at home. s’ weird seeing him like this.” He poked at the dry biscuit with his fork, a small snarl on his teeth.
Huh. No you in their AU’s? Interesting.
You tapped your fingers on the desk, thinking back to when you two did meet. Stars, it feels like forever ago.
“Technically,” You started. “I met Papyrus first. I was at Muffet’s and he saw me struggling with the morning crossword. He helped me finish it, promptly suggesting afterward that I try Junior Jumble instead. We just kinda became friends that morning and kept in close contact. I knew Papyrus for at least four months before I ever met Sans. It’s odd.”
“hm? whyssit odd?” Fell slurred his words together like usual, a bad habit of his.
“Well, you know.” You took a bite of your toast, swallowing down the hardly edible substance. “Everyone always meets Sans first. Before Papyrus trained with Undyne, Sans worked for her at the sentry station. Before Alphys met Papyrus, Sans ran into her in hotland and they’d watch anime together sometimes. Before Papyrus met Toriel, Sans would tell her jokes through the door. Everyone always met Sans first, but I didn’t. I didn’t even know the guy existed for a hot minute.”
“THIS FOOD IS DISGRACEFUL.” Edge suddenly appeared next to the two of you, startling you a bit. His arms were folded angrily. “I WILL GO GATHER BLUE AND DISCUSS ABOUT A POSSIBLE SHORT DRIVE TO A DINER SOMEWHERE.”
“Isn’t the whole point of staying at the hotel today because we can’t drive in the snow?” 7 people in one car during a snowstorm was a tad bit wild, especially just for some food.
“THE LODGING IS A 3 HOUR DRIVE. RESTAURANTS ARE CLOSER BY. I’M SURE THIS IS NOT HOW YOU WANT TO EAT THE ENTIRE DAY.”
Fell shrugged, not seeming to care about the whole ordeal. “room service food is way nummier. could jus’ order that, idk.”
Edge scoffed at his brother. “NEVER SAY ‘I.D.K.’ OUTLOUD EVER AGAIN.” He walked away, presumably to go grab Blue who was oddly still asleep.
“Anyways. We met for the first time when Papyrus invited me over for his birthday. I had already met Undyne and Alphys before, so there weren’t too many faces at his party that I didn’t recognize. I suppose Papyrus had talked about me to Sans before because I didn’t introduce myself and he just kinda… Stared at me the whole time.”
“that’s weird. prolly thought you were smokin’ hot and got nervous.”
You scoffed, rolling your eyes. “Again, anyways. I figured I’d break the ice, so when Paps was opening gifts I sat by Sans and cracked a birthday joke and his whole face just lit up. I knew that the guy loved jokes, but I didn’t expect him to crack one-liners and puns at me for the rest of the night.”
You trailed off in your words, the memory playing vividly in your head. After the party you had gone home and decided to scroll through some photos you’d taken earlier, deleting many that Undyne and Alphys spammed on your phone when you had left it unintended. You saved some photos and went to send them to the pair, but saw a new contact added. You clicked on it, seeing the only message being an awful one-liner.
(—-,—-,——) - 9:12 pm - why did the cell phone bring a sweater to the party
(—-,—-,——) - 9:12 pm - it didn’t want to get a cold signal. lol.
(—-,—-,——) - 9:15 pm - it’s cold. stay warm on your way home.
Ah. You must have given Sans your number at some point during the party. Who else would send these horrible puns?
10:05 pm- LMAO. I made it home safe, don’t worry.
You two ended up texting on and off for about an hour before retreating to bed.
A few days later you ended up having a shitty day at work. Unlike your normal tendency to bottle things up, even to your best friend, Papyrus, you wanted to spill your feelings... You called Undyne and Alphys. No answer. Papyrus was busy with Mettaton today, so both those options were out. Toriel answered but said she was at the park with Frisk. You didn't want to impose and passed off your call as a simple check-in. BP would only bring more down since he wasn’t the best at comforting, so you were led to your last option.
You rang the number and heard the pickup tone.
“hey?”
“Hi! Sorry, I’ve just had a long day and wanted to talk.”
You heard a soft sigh before a response. “go on. i’m not busy.”
“you called for how long?” Fell gave a bit of a surprised look to you.
“7 hours! I know. After I told him about my shitty day he ended up telling me about his equally awful one. I don’t know, we just talked.”
Fell stared at you for a moment, the end of his phalange picking at his gold tooth. You raised an eyebrow.
“What? Do I have something on my face?” You battered.
“no, no. keep talkin’.”
After the two of you ended the call, you had asked to call the next day.
So you called the day after that.
And the day after that.
And the day after that one.
It took a long time for you to notice how close you and Sans had become. Papyrus was the realization moment for you.
“HUMAN, I MUST SAY THAT YOU ARE HAVING A GREAT INFLUENCE ON SANS.”
You looked up to Papyrus, setting your menu down on the booth table. “What?”
“HE HAS BEEN MORE ACTIVE NOW THAT HE IS TALKING TO YOU SO MUCH. I MUST SAY, I AM VERY HAPPY WITH THIS DEVELOPMENT!”
“Oh, uhm…” You took a sip of your water, the ice-cold temperature giving the roof of your mouth a bit of a cold shock. “Thanks.”
You did feel a bit bad at the fact that you were spending a bit more time with Sans over Papyrus, your best friend, but he was occupied with Mettaton and didn’t mind much. The two brothers still ate up a large portion of your time.
For Sans’ birthday, you chose to knit him a blanket. You had corrected him several times that it was knitting, not crochet, but now you were convinced that the smirk on his face when you corrected him meant he knew the difference and just said crochet to patronize you.
Although he tried to avoid you from coming into his room, mostly because it was messy and unfurnished, you had caught glimpses of it from time to time. A big ringer you noticed was the lack of a proper blanket in his room. While the temperature didn’t bother him much due to the lack of skin, you still didn’t like the idea of him being without a blanket at night.
You had been sneaky with it, casually asking him to go on a shopping spree with you and stopping at the yarn store on your way home. While you picked out your yarn for a separate project, you watched to see which yarns he liked. It was easy to tell, if he liked the color of it he’d pick it up and see if he liked the feeling. If approved, he’d hold onto it for a few moments before putting it back up. You kept note of which ones he liked and went back to the store alone the next day, picking out enough yarn of the two colors he was amused by.
It turned out as a soft blue blanket. The main yarn was a sky blue that was silky and cold to the touch paired with a dark blue crushed velvet that wrapped as a border. It took about two weeks of knitting in all your free time to finish it, completed by being folded nicely and wrapped up in paper.
After the small party you and your friends planned for him, you chose to give him your gift alone.
Well, not alone. You had attached a letter you wrote for him to the gift and placed the blanket on his mattress, knowing he’d see it later. You were correct, receiving a text from him later thanking you for the gift.
He seemed to open up to you a lot more after that.
“Sooooo, the rest is history.” You tossed the paper plate (still full of gross food) into the trash.
“wow. wowwowwowwowwow.” Fell shook his skull. “boring story.”
You scoffed at him, heading into the elevators as he followed beside you. “Yak it up. You asked. What did you expect, hm?”
He shrugged, pressing your floor number once you were in the elevator. “dunno. sounds like you two were going to shack or somethin’.”
“Fell, you perv! Nothing is going on between him and me.”
“yeahhhh, alright sweetheart.”
You scowled at him, breaking separate ways once you were out of the elevator and going to your hotel room.
You were lucky. Being the 7th member of the ‘friend/family’ group meant you were the odd one out, and also the only female. (ignore if you’re gender-neutral) If there was ever a situation like this where you all had to stay in rooms, you always got your own while all the individual brothers shared theirs. You can only imagine the chaos breaking out between Edge and Fell, cooped up in that tiny room together.
Your bed was cold and plush when you laid down on it, all made up by the hotel cleaning service. You stared up at the ceiling, your hands over your stomach. There wasn’t anything going on between you two, right?
Ugh. It was only 8:30 am, so most everyone was still asleep except the malicious duo, that was unless Edge successfully woke up Blue. You couldn’t just go back to sleep either. All the talking and walking around made your sleepiness wear off, so you were just a bit stuck. You grabbed your phone, choosing to mindlessly scroll on Pinterest.
You wouldn’t make a move on Sans since you were almost 100% positive that not only was he not interested in you, but that he wasn’t interested in a relationship at all. Every time you brought up the subject he just got dodgy, so you just chose to bury any feelings you had deep down so that you wouldn’t risk the friendship and be a hopeless romantic over some guy.
But now?
Ugggggh. Your feelings were all in a wad. Fell had successfully just made things complicated. He may be a bit of a punk sometimes, but he wouldn’t say something like that to you if he didn’t think you two were interested in each other. Even though he’s a bit rougher around the edges, he still is a Sans. He has the same morals and motivations similar to Classic, unlike Blue on the other hand. He would be your next best dig at getting into Sans’ thoughts since asking him directly was too risky.
You could ask Papyrus, but Papyrus is loyal to keeping his word. You heavily admired it and used his loyalty as a bit of a role model for yourself, but unfortunately, that meant that going to him for an inside scoop meant you’d have to be tricky with your words. Sure, he wouldn’t let you go in completely blind since you were his best friend. If he knew of your little crush he definitely wouldn’t let you get heartbroken, and would give indirect suggestions that technically don’t break his loyalty.
You chose your next best option.
8:34 - u up?
8:35 - i wanna ask u smthn.
8:39- did u go back to sleep ?
8:41 - evil sans (satan) - what's up
8:42 - do u think he likes me?
8:42 - don’t make fun
8:43 - evil sans (satan) - jfc, you woke me up for this?
8:43 - evil sans (satan) - im going back 2 sleep
8:44 - fell pleeeease:(:(:(
8:45- evil sans (satan) - im not sure. he doesn’t talk about that stuff to me. he does act interested in u though, esp compared to how he acts around everyone else.
Mh. You typed and sent a short thanks to him, feeling pretty satisfied with what new information you’ve learned.
You shut your phone off, sighing and tossing it beside you. If you were back home, you’d go and talk to Toriel about this. She’s always so nice and comforting to talk to. Granted, Alphys and Undyne were also good options, but they had a bit of a hard time keeping a secret in relation to crushes. You’d be teased high to no end. Mettaton would be nice to talk to, you could have a day with facemasks, mani-pedis, and gossip.
But you weren’t home, were you? So… how to pass the time…
The time went by slowly. It wasn’t until about 10 am that Blue and Stretch woke up, begrudging you to hang out with them downstairs in the hotel lounge. Since you already had plans to take a short drive to get food, eating at the hotel wasn’t really on the table. Blue dragged you and Edge to do one of the community puzzles the hotel had while Stretch and Fell lounged in chairs, occupied on their phones.
It didn’t take long for Sans and Papyrus, the iconic duo, to show up in the lobby. The short skeleton stood behind you, ruffling your hair a bit while Papyrus rambled on about why they were up so late.
“HORRIBLE. JUST HORRIBLE. WE HAVE BEEN UP FOR THE PAST HOUR AND I HAVE WASTED 30 MINUTES JUST DRAGGING HIM OUT OF BED!” Papyrus complained, some snickers being heard from Stretch about the situation.
“I’m sorry, Papyrus.” You tried to console him, elbowing Sans in the ribcage for his older brother's havoc. “When we get to the ski lodge tomorrow we’ll have our own room.”
Sans nodded, feigning a hurt expression from your elbow jab. “sorry bro. i really gotta work on my self o-bed-ience.”
Several groans were heard, and Fell waved Sans off. “boring, lazy, sloppy. you’ve been lacking on your puns recently.”
Blue connected another puzzle piece, a small look of pride and victory on his face. “I SUGGEST YOU CHANGE OUT OF YOUR PYJAMAS, LAZY ME. WE ARE GOING OUT TO EAT.”
Papyrus’ attention was caught. “GOING OUT? I THOUGHT IT WAS TOO SNOWY.”
“FOR A 3 HOUR DRIVE, YES.” Edge corrected. “BUT THIS DINER IS ONLY 5 MINUTES AWAY AND SEEMS TO SERVE EDIBLE BREAKFAST OPTIONS.”
“hmmm. who’s gonna drive, again?” Stretch eyed everyone in the group. None of you preferred driving.
Papyrus’ face changed to fear, quickly holding up his hand to his nasal socket. “NOES-GOES!”
The crowd of you went wild, the once tired and calm group now screaming “noes goes” while raising their hand. A few people in the lounge looked over at you, trying to see what was disturbing the peace.
Blue groaned once he realized he yelled out last. “WHY DO I ALWAYS LOSE AT NOES-GOES?! I SWEAR, YOU ASSHOLES ONLY PICK IT BECAUSE IT IS THE ONE GAME I AM BAD AT.”
“sorry, bro.” Stretch showed a half-hearted sympathetic look. “we don’t make the rules.
“Why don’t we put up the puzzle and head out then? There’s nothing wrong with being in your pyjamas. It’s not like we know anyone here.” You gestured to your lazy pyjama outfit, vouching a bit for Sans.
“see? they get it.” Sans commented, looking at you with a lazy grin.
“I SUPPOSE IT’S OKAY… BUT JUST FOR TODAY.”
The drive was chaos.
Somehow just five minutes in the car leads to sibling fights, Blue yelling at everyone to shut up so that he can focus on driving, Sans pestering Papyrus with puns and Fell showing you TikToks on your phone that he found funny. You never got a break from them.
Blue managed to park the car with several harasses from Edge about how “HE NEEDS A CAR SEAT TO EVEN LOOK OUT THE WINDSHIELD PROPERLY.” The snow was still relentless, just occurring to you that Blue was right and you should have not gone out in your pyjamas. While the others didn’t have skin and weren’t temperature-bothered, you were. You kept trying to rush them all into the diner as quickly as possible.
“I RECALL THAT YOU WERE THE ONE WANTING TO STAY IN YOUR PYJAMAS.” Edge teased you, watching as you sat down and tried to conserve your warmth by wrapping your arms around your waist.
You grabbed one of the menus, glaring at him. “I didn’t realize how cold I’d be. Gimmie a break, man.”
You loved him, but he could be a tad annoying sometimes. Quite frankly all of them got on your nerves now and then.
Food items, Food items… Hashbrowns, some ‘Waffle Topple’ special for 9.99. Your stomach grumbled at all the options.
“still cold?” Sans’ familiar voice rang out.
You looked down at him, seeing that he was sitting next to you. Odd, usually Papyrus or Stretch sat by you.
Checking around the table, you saw the chatter amongst the other skeletons. The two of you would be able to talk one one-on-one for a few minutes before any interruptions.
“A bit. It’s not my fault it’s still cold in here.” You scanned over the menu again. “Whatcha gonna get?”
“not sure.” Sans shrugged, tapping his phalanges on the menu. “all of these options are pretty eggstraordinary.”
“Sans.”
“but i think the breakfast combo looks grape.”
You crossed your arms, watching as his amused expression developed. “I’m not doing it. It’s too early.”
“what?” Sans looked over to you. “you got something to hash out with me?”
“10 am. 10.”
“just one? then i’ll quit.” Sans pleaded. “don’t grit your teeth at my puns.”
You groaned in annoyance, hiding your face behind your menu and peeking at him. “Uhmmmm. I’m really tired. I don’t think I can mustard up any good puns.”
Sans stared at you for a few seconds, a bit of a confused and enticed expression. “wow. mustard isn’t even a breakfast food.”
“You didn’t say it had to be.”
“didn’t i? i thought it was obvious with the way my puns were roll-ing.”
“I thought you said you’d quit.”
“i know.” Sans winked, setting his menu back on the table and shrugging off his jacket.
He pulled you in by your shoulders, wrapping his jacket around you to provide a layer of warmth.
You smiled softly, your cheeks heating up a bit since he got so close. Breathe. “Aw. for me? Your musty ketchup jacket?”
Sans brushed you off, his permanent smile twinging upward a bit more. “whaaattt? diddya think i’d give you the cold shoulder?”
You elbowed his arm, pretending to be annoyed despite enjoying his puns. It was a bit impressive how witty he was. You wrapped the jacket around you a bit tighter, not seeing the way Sans was busy staring at you.
“Whatcha gonna order, Papyrus?” Your voice rang soft to him.
Papyrus looked up to you, beginning to ramble about all the options they had, Blue occasionally piping in to debate on which one was best. You glanced over to Sans while listening to them babble, catching a glance of him before he quickly looked away.
You’d tell him soon, one day.

“So, you doing good with Charles?” Alex nudged your shoulder as he walked alongside you at the paddock, “Or is the lovers quarrel still on going?”
“What the hell?” You frowned, looking up at him, “Did he seriously talk to you about that? For the record, we are far from lovers. Just teammates.”
“Well, he did. A few days ago,” He smiled sheepishly as he put his hands inside his pockets, “Sure, Y/N. Just teammates.”
“Shut up, Alex,” You mumbled, punching his shoulder playfully, “You heading back to your hotel?”
“Going out for a few drinks with Nicky,” He replied, “How about you? I bet you’ll get some sleep in from today’s race, little miss podium?”
“Yeah, today was stressful,” You laughed as you shook your head, “Please, I was lucky the odds were in my favor. Go on to your night out, we’ll catch up tomorrow?
Alex nodded with a smile, bringing you in for a quick hug, “See you tomorrow, Y/N.”
Waving him goodbye, you walked off to the parking area where your car was located. It was a relatively quick drive to the hotel, technically, you tried to get there as fast as you could.
Charles stood up from the lobby as he saw you approaching with your bag, “Took you long enough.”
“Aw, how sweet. You waited for me,” You sarcastically replied as you looked at him with a frown, “I didn’t ask you to.”
“I figured that you could pick the bed,” He shrugged as he grabbed your bag for you, leaving you confused, “I know you’re picky with that.”
“Oh. Yeah, thanks for remembering,” You mumbled, stepping in the elevator beside him and pressing the floor number, “No plans tonight?”
“Supposedly had some, but I passed,” Charles replied, sighing deeply, “Figured I could get some rest.”
“Congrats again on winning the race today, by the way,” You smiled softly as you looked up at him, “Good comeback for the team, hm?”
Charles nodded with a slight smile, letting you out the elevator before following you to the room, “You too, Y/N. We did well today.”
No other words were exchanged as the two of you entered the room, stopping in the middle from the sight of the single king sized bed in front of you.
You turned to look at Charles, who had the same shocked expression on your face, “There’s only…one bed.”
“Great observation, Sherlock,” Charles looked back at you, eyebrows scrunched together, “I’ll take the couch.”
“No, you take the bed. I’ll take the couch” You mumbled as you sat down on the armchair, “Do you think we could get another room?”
Sighing deeply, Charles set your bags down on the couch, “I doubt that. Hotel’s packed from this race weekend.”
“Then that settles it, just take the bed,” You smiled softly at him, “I can sleep anywhere anyways.”
“You’re so hardheaded, aren’t you?” Charles laughed as he shook his head, crossing his arms, “We can just share the bed. Put a pillow in between us or whatever if it makes you more comfortable.”
“You sure about that?” You replied, “I really don’t want to force you to share a bed if you don’t want to.”
“It’s fine. Just one night,” He clicked his tongue, grabbing his bag before heading off to the bathroom, “Get comfy, Y/N. I’m not changing my mind.”
You couldn’t help the warm feeling that spread throughout your heart as you headed off the other bathroom to change into your pajamas.
As you finished freshening up, you stared at yourself in the mirror and slapped your cheeks while mumbling, “Get yourself together, Y/N.”
Exhaling deeply, you stepped out of the bathroom to see Charles sitting on the bed as he used his phone, “Why aren’t you asleep yet?”
“Oh, I wanted to ask you what side you usually slept on,” Charles smiled, setting his phone down on the table, “Take your pick.”
Walking over to the bed, you settled for the side that was nearby the window, “I’ll stay here.”
Charles took the spare pillows and put it in between the two of you, fluffing it up, before getting under the duvet and reaching over to turn the lamp off. Mirroring his actions, you exhaled as you laid in darkness and stared at the ceiling.
“Hey, Y/N?”
You turned your head to the side, meeting his eyes in the darkness, “Yeah?”
“I’m…sorry about the other day. I didn’t mean to snap at you over the results of qualifying,” Charles mumbled, “No excuses for my behavior.”
“Don’t worry about it. That’s behind us now,” You replied as you stared back up the ceiling, “I just wish you could just be easier on me.”
“I know, I will be next time,” He sighed as he ran a hand down his face, “I need to be a better teammate to you. I believe that you have a bright future in this sport.”
You were glad that the lights were off because you were probably as red as a tomato, “Um. Thank you. I mean like, thank you for believing in me.”
“Of course, Y/N. From now on, I’ve got your back,” He smiled, “Leclerc and Y/L/N, teammates to best buddies.”
Laughing as you covered your face, “That just sounds so weird coming out of your mouth.”
“Stop teasing and just go to sleep,” He reached over and messed up your hair, eliciting a whine from you, “Goodnight, Y/N.”
Turning around to face away from him, you smiled to yourself, “Goodnight, Charles.”
bonus scene!
The sound of the alarm rang throughout the room, causing Charles to groan and bury his face further in the pillow.
“Turn that off, Y/N,” He mumbled sleepily, feeling a heavy weight on his back, “I wanna sleep more.”
No response was heard from you, only light snores that caused Charles to frown to try and roll over, failing in the process. He peeked over his shoulder, surprised as he saw your cheek pressed against his back.
“To think I put pillows in between,” Charles laughed sleepily as he carefully rolled over, making sure you’re still asleep, and pulled you in his arms, “That was pointless.”
Groaning sleepily, you snuggled up to him and talked in your sleep, “You’re so noisy.”
He rolled his eyes playfully and reached over to turn off the alarm, laying back down and sighing deeply, “Guess we just have to talk about this when you wake up.”
Charles smiled softly as he looked down at your sleeping figure in his arms, a newfound feeling fluttering in his chest. Yeah, maybe he’s starting to see you in another light.

minghaos who takes his time when drawing any portrait of you, making sure to get every detail of your beauty
a/n: oh my god jasmine??? i just started reading your fanfics last night and let me tell you, i was so damn obsessed; i'm not sure if this is a hard thought or anything but i did try to make it smut (with a little bit of fluff and comfort)
wc: 1.7k
-
today was like any other day. well, not technically. today was your boyfriend's project's due date. he was supposed to draw a portrait of the person that means a lot to him; though he first thought of his very own mother, he remembered the first few words you said when you met him.
(flashback)
those few sweet words that came out of your mouth like it was nothing; "i love your artstyle, maybe you should draw your future girlfriend, yeah?" you chuckle as he turned to look at you. "pardon?" he says, a little confused.
"i'm talking about me, hao." he laughs at your straightforwardness and displays a warm smile at you while he remains seated.
you laugh along comfortably, sitting next to him while staring at the canvas that was filled with colorful strokes of red, orange, yellow, blue and pink. "you assume too much, don't y'think?" he teased as he cups your cheeks, tucking your hair behind your ear. "well, you never know, do you?" both of you chuckle together before he picks up his paintbrush and finishes his artwork.
(end of flashback)
that was long ago, yet, the memory itself never fails to melt his heart. though, he couldn't deny; he has drew you before. a couple of times actually.
the problem was, all of them just seemed bad to him. he doodled and sketched your face everyday in class; thinking that everytime he drew you with a different pen or pencil, his sketches get more terrible each day. (and yet he still managed to get good grades even though he doesn't pay attention in class because he's always drawing you)
and so, he never showed you, until you found his sketchbook in his room on your 5th monthsary. he was pretty embarrassed about it, but your praises on his drawings were enough to boost his ego and confidence.
while he quietly sits down on his chair, staring into his computer, he slowly turns to look at you with a nervous smile on his face.
"darling," he starts off, standing up and approaching you on the bed. you hum in response, dropping your phone and looking back at him. "do you want to become my reference? it's for an art project."
you nod, changing your position on the bed. "what do you need me to wear? a dress, or--"
"need you nude, baby." the temptation from his voice was enough to electrify something inside of you; feeling a bit flustered from what he said. "..if you're comfortable with it, of course. i wouldn't want to make myself look like i'm into creepy things like this, yeah?" he adds. "if you really don't wanna, it's fi--"
"mm." you shook your head no. "it's fine," though it seemed aberrant to minghao (because of how much of a gentleman he is), the longing ache in you was basically killing you.
a few minutes later, you slowly got out of the bathroom with a robe on. you were nervous of him judging you, the way your body was built, your skin tone, or maybe that was just your neediness that's getting to you.
he puts on a smile and gives you a warm hug, "take it off when you're ready, hm?" minghao whispers in your ear, leaving a small kiss.
you nod, "yeah."
minghao slowly lets go and stands behind his canvas; squeezing out all the paint onto his palette. he quickly grabs his paintbrush and starts speaking up once more, "hey," he sat down on the tiny chair. "there's still time to back out if you're really not into thi--"
"minghao? is there something wrong?" you throw your robe to the side, crossing your arms which squished your tits from below a bit.
he shook his head, "no, not at all." he looks away and focuses back on his canvas.
minghao couldn't help but stare at you for a bit longer, he didn't know what to say or do at all. it's not like there is a problem- it's that you're there, with no clothes on, and you're on full display.
but besides that, you're gorgeous.
absolutely admirable and so, so, so, so, so beautiful. to him and only him. maybe even to the whole world.
countless hours pass by and minghao was finally done with his work, "baby?" he stands up and dusts his hands off.
"did you fall aslee- oh." you quietly let out muffled moans as you try fingering yourself on the sofa; if only you could see the greed and devotion in his eyes while he painted your figure, he would've dropped his paintbrushes to the floor and take care of you already.
the sweet smile on his face disappears and instead turns into a wicked yet sinister smirk.
minghao cups your cheeks. "let me help you baby, yeah?" he coos, crouching down to give you a soft kiss on the lips before falling onto his knees.
"p-please.." you beg, withdrawing your hand from your pussy but before you could wipe it on the couch, minghao grabs it and slides it in his mouth, licking your small digits that were unlike his long, veiny hands. "hao.." you whine at the sight.
"what is it, pretty girl?" he places his hands on both of your thighs, spreading them apart. "need me?"
you nod. "i've been longing, hao."
he starts kissing your inner thighs; wet lips enough to get you even wetter than you were 10 seconds ago. though your legs were now resting on his shoulder, he still had a firm grasp on them. his nails dug onto your skin, leaving temporary crescent-shaped nail marks onto them.
"so have i, darling." he replies, leaning in towards your pussy, his nose bumping with your clit.
you whine when you feel the pleasure; it's overwhelming, yes, but it feels so good that you can't even utter a single word. not even a single one, the only thing you can let out is a moan.
he licks your pussy's lips and starts eating you out, the sweet taste not leaving his tongue. "f..fuck, hao,"
"mind your language or i'm gonna leave you aching on this sofa, y/n." he threatens and you slightly look away in embarrassment when you saw his bloodthirsty eyes darken in lust. "you wouldn't want that, would you?" he leans back, away from you as the wind's cold breeze comes in contact with your skin.
you shook your head no gently, replying to his question. "well, it's not like you could ever leave me hanging like that, hao." you tease.
he scoffs; "there's always a first time for everything, sweetheart. you should know that." he stood up and quickly switches your position in missionary, pinning you down on the sofa and pressing your legs against your chest and his.
"but, hey." you look at him in confusion as he unzips his pants and pulls his cock out. it was long and veiny, t'was so outstanding and beautiful. something so out of this world. "contrary to what mingyu said before," he breathes, fixing his position on top of you as he leans close enough to your ear. "most of the greatest works of art don't know how great they are not because they're unreal, instead, it's because they don't see the talent in the artist's eyes that were enough to make the painting as appealing as it already is." his hot breath against your ear makes you tremble, "you're just like an artwork, you know?" he teases.
"really?" he nods. "you think so?" your cute puppy eyes, begging and pleading for his angry, red tip was enough to send him to the edge but as punishment, he will make you wait longer.
after a few more minutes of teasing, he finally gives in and thrusts inside of you.
you moan loudly, holding onto his body, yet it seemed so unfair because you were basically naked and he still had his shirt on. "mm.." he looks at you, stopping his thrusting as he felt a little confused.
"what is it, hm?" you slowly tug at his shirt and he finally gets it. "ah, i see." he smirks and takes his shirt off.
he goes back to thrusting inside of you and you let out another moan, "m-mmh!"; he grunts as he thrusts even harder, not stopping for even a breath.
you squirm, putting your hand over your mouth to keep your mouth shut yet you can't help yourself but moan even louder. he notices this and he stops for a moment, leaving you hanging which made you ache for more (though it's not like he could pull out because your pussy was basically sucking him back in), grabbing your hand pinning them over your head as he fucks into you.
"h..hao!" you moan loudly as you felt him hitting that 'sweet spot' inside of you. "hao.." you breathe, starting to pant as your legs start trembling. "i-.. i'm so close.." you whine continuously as his hand lets go of your wrists, traveling down to your nipples.
he rubs them gently, leaning in and licking them clean. minghao does the same for the other breast making you moan and yearn for more;
"i..i'm gonna cum, please.." you beg.
"please what, baby?" he smirks, pulling his lips away from your lips and staring into your doe eyes. "tell me," he starts. "tell me what you need, i'll give you everything. every single thing just for you, my lovely, pretty girl."
you look at him with desire and thirst. "need to cum, please.."
everything was testing him; no, no, no.. that's not the right word, is it? let's try that again-- everything was arousing him. it felt like you were tormenting eachother using their own bodies. everything was so tempting to him, he couldn't help but give in; "cum for me, princess," he says with a smirk on his face. "do it, make me proud, okay?"
it wasn't that long until you reach your climax and you came on his cock. he helps you ride your orgasm until he reaches his, planting his seed inside of you.
the both of you catch your breathes together before he pulls out of you and places a warm, loving kiss on your temple; "come on, let's clean you up, hm?" despite being exhausted, you shot him a smile and he stood up, carrying you to the bathroom to clean you up. "mhm.." you manage to say, still trying to catch your breath from what had just happened.
"hao, i love you." you say, with a smile on your face as you return his kiss back, instead, this time it was on his lips. "i love you too, baby."
a/n 2: sorry this took so long,, i had work and i was slightly busy.. but anyways, i'm FINALLY done! it didn't turn out how i expected it to be yet i still think it's a little better than what i usually write. besides that, i'm really, really glad to make a minghao fanfic so please ask / request for more <3

Year in fic review 2023
Total number of completed stories: 4, I finished Spare Parts in 2022, just finished posting in 2023.
Total word count: About 50 k (published, god knows how many words of unfinished WIPS and abandoned one-shots)
Fandoms written in: BBC Sherlock, I'm a one-trick pony these days ;-)
Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you’d expected?
Hm, I suppose less? And not the things I expected. I started writing a lot of long, plotty fics but apparently, it wasn't the year for long and plotty fics. I suppose I didn't have the brain space for long and plotty.
What’s your own favorite story of the year?
Probably Nothing Gold Can Stay, because I had this idea months and months ago, of John having a bit of a crisis before his wedding. I had this one piece of a core of a fic, the whole nucleus where John tells Sherlock nobody ever sticks with him, ever. And then I had three different fragments of fics trying to make it work, and every one had something amazing in it, but I just couldn't make it gel. And then I thought of the famous The thing you wanted to say, say it now, and the scene on the bench in TSOT, and bam, I had a fic. It came out in stops and starts of 200-word chunks, while John laboured with whether and how and when to trust enough, to have faith enough to actually say how he feels. I'm really proud of how it came out in the end, and I'm very happy you guys responded to it the way you did.
Did you take any writing risks this year?
I don't know about risks, but I wrote 31 ficlets in pretty much a month, which came out to 26000 words, and that was no mean feat. And I actually still like most of them. Gave me a bit of writers' burn-out, I won't lie, but what a ride!
Do you have any fanfic goals for the new year?
I want to finish my Christmas fic. I would like to re-visit the Nothing Gold boys because I think there's meat on these bones and I always wanted to do a series of shorter fics that hang together. So maybe I can do something with that. But last year was so stressful at work and I don't see this year going any better (we have three big conferences this summer, so it's probably going to be So Much Worse). So, I'll be grateful for what I can accomplish, and accept that it might not be everything I want.
Most popular story of the year?
Nothing Gold Can Stay for sure.
Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion:
Hm, I got a lot of lovely feedback this year, so I generally feel loved and appreciated by fandom. My May ficlets especially got a lot of responses here on tumblr, and I loved that dynamic interchange between writing and reading and commeting, especially with the others who did the challenge.
If I had to pick one underappreciated story, my Spare Parts 'verse January 29th fic The Stars Walk Backward didn't get a lot of eyeballs, but it's understandable given that it's a one-shot in a 'verse that not that many people are famliar with in the first place. It's a bit of a stepchild of a 'verse, but I love it, and I love this story for its unabashed sentimentality. It's very sweet and very calm and has a lot of 'we're back together and I don't want to fuck this up again' energy. I love re-visiting this fic if I need a quick pick-me-up, so. You know.
Most fun story to write:
Most of the ficlets were fun to write, and Tipping Point was somehow the opposite of Nothing Gold Can Stay in that it came out in a big rush over four days, like a writing tsunami. But my Christmas fic is also super fun to write, I just hope I can sustain the fun and actually finish it.
Most unintentionally telling story:
Probably Nothing Gold Can Stay, I suppose. Grief is really complicated, and it's difficult to come to terms with the fact that you can sort of stumble into pockets of it, and that you sometimes grieve things that are technically still there but have changed a lot. Essentially, the story is about a John who has to stop running away from his grief and turn around and face it, and a Sherlock who sees that if he wants to truly get John back, he has to face it with him.
Biggest disappointment:
With myself for being unable to finish the many, many, many fics I've stared but didn't remotely finish. But also gracious to myself for letting life happen.
Biggest surprise:
Not surprise but gratitude for the love and support of this fandom. You guys are awesome. I'm so grateful whenever someone tells me that something I wrote made them Feel Something(TM). It's the greatest compliment a writer can receive, and I feel truly blessed that I heard this a fair bit this year. I write because it makes me happy, and if people reading my fics experience something similar, then that makes me even happier. So thank you, fandom.

SOLDIER Vlogging Shenanigans pt. 15
[The video starts with a black gloved finger covering the lens. Genesis's muffled voice is heard reciting LOVELESS in the background. A very Sephiroth-sounding "hm.." is heard before an "oh" and he moves his finger. He flips the camera around awkwardly. He's sitting on the floor of an elevator]
"Um…" He looks into the camera blankly, clearly unsure of himself. "We were returning to the SOLDIER floor after our lunch break, and…"
[He flips the camera around. Angeal is curled into a ball in the corner of the elevator. Genesis is sprawled out on the floor, loudly reciting LOVELESS ("The wandering soul knows no rest…Three friends go into battle…One is captured…"). Sephiroth flips the camera back to himself]
"The elevator has unfortunately malfunctioned. We've been stuck up here for three hours now. Genesis has recited LOVELESS for the hundredth and forty-fifth time now—"
"Dreams of the morrow hath the shattered soul. Pride is lost…"
"—And help was supposed to arrive an hour and a half ago, but alas, there seems to be other elevators in need of immediate attention."
[Sephiroth's eyes stray to something in front of him. He clumsily flips the camera around to show Angeal, now glaring bloody murder at Genesis, who is still dramatically engrossed in his recitation]
"For you are beloved by the goddess…Hero of the dawn, healer of worlds…"
[Sephiroth flips the camera back to himself]
"I've briefly entertained the idea of cutting a hole through the elevator's top and scaling the shaft way. However, that could potentially endanger us considering we're unaware of the elevator's technical issue."
"My soul, corrupted by vengeance...Hath endured torment, to find the end of the journey…"
[Sephiroth now looks perturbed. He pans the camera around, filming Angeal's visibly dissipating patience]
"In my own salvation...And your eternal slumber," Genesis finishes.
"ARE YOU DONE!?" Angeal snaps, causing Sephiroth to flinch and jolt the camera. "ARE YOU DONE, GENESIS?"
[It pans from A wide-eyed Genesis to a feral-looking Angeal]
"IF NOT, MAY I ASK WHEN IT WILL BE DONE, GENESIS? AT THIS POINT, EVEN THE GODDESS HERSELF IS SICK OF YOU READING THAT POEM EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. AT EVERY. SINGLE. HOUR."
[The camera pans back to Genesis, who not only looks unvexed, but elegantly clears his throat, glancing down at his open book]
"Infinite in mystery is the gift of the—"
[Angeal flies at him, catching Genesis in a chokehold. Sephiroth fumbles to turn the camera off and separate the two before Genesis turns the color of a Banora White]
[The video ends]

Paperwork. Worst thing there could ever possibly be. What makes it so much worse is that this paperwork is so important that it has to be done with actual pen and paper instead of digital like everything else. Y/n has been working on this for a few hours now; she was exhausted from the lack of sleep recently and the new promotion she got, being now supreme leader Kylo Ren's "secretary" That wasn't her accurate title, but it sure felt like it should be. She groaned and put her forehead on the table, a sigh escaping her, "Five minutes, I could nap for five minutes, then finish these." She mumbled to herself; she released another sigh as she sat back up, deciding against napping and, instead, getting up to stretch; once she finished the cat-like stretch, she went over to a small section of the room that had a refreshments bar for higher class officers, which technically she qualified as. "Now...The real question is...Coffee?" she nodded to herself. The room y/n chose to work in was usually unoccupied unless it was the middle of a standard day; she was glad to have a shift that kept her normal circadian rhythm, but others weren't so lucky. About an hour later, her mug was empty; rubbing her eyes as she sat back in her chair, the pile of paper only seemed to get bigger. Why did she have to do this again? "Because I asked you to."
Kylo Ren's voice echoed calmly in the room; how long had he been there? "Oh! Uh...Ky-Supreme leader." She went to stand, but he raised his hand, signaling her to stay seated. She nodded. "You didn't have to do all this tonight; you know that, right?" He asked as he walked over and sat opposite her. "Oh. Yeah, But I figured since it's currently my only assignment, I thought I'd try to get as much done as soon as possible. Also. Sir- No...Never mind"
"Hm?" he tilted his head to the side, a few strands of hair falling over his forehead. He knew what she wanted to ask, but making her nervous was entertaining.
 "I...was just wondering why you read my thoughts a moment ago?"
Kylo suppressed a smirk as he answered, "Your stress is very loud."
 Y/n scratched her head at his words. "Ah, Sorry,"
"Don't be. I find it quite amusing, to be honest." The confused look on her face caused Kylo's cold exterior to melt away.
 "Y/n," He said softly after he watched her work for a while longer. "Hmm?" She didn't look up from the paper she was currently working on. "Y/n," he repeated, this time a bit firmer. She lifted her head. "Yes, sir?" she asked, placing her pen down. "I'll take over from here. You go get some rest." This soft side of him wasn't as unusual as you'd think it'd be. Well, at least not with Y/n. "But sir-" She sighed as he shook his head; there was no arguing. But this is Y/n we're talking about. She's pretty stubborn about things like this. "With all due respect. I'd rather stay here, Sir. This is my assignment, and I plan on finishing it. By. Myself." Her drowsiness from earlier is now nonexistent. She was determined to complete her first official task from the supreme leader, and not even he could stop her.
 "I understand that. But you should have been asleep five hours ago. You're going to throw off your normal schedule, which will cause you to work inconsistently when I ask you to do other tasks in the future. Go to bed." His words were soft yet just as determined as hers.
Y/n sighed. "Can I just take a nap? I don't want to lose my motivation."
"What motivation? One page is taking you almost twenty minutes when it should only take ten." he countered, grabbing the pen from the table before she could get it again.
 A low grumble erupted from Y/n; she defiantly crossed her arms on her chest.
"You've got some nerve defying me like this. You're being a brat. Go. to. bed, or I'll make you."
"Then make me, Sir." This man was her boss, a temperamental, annoyingly handsome boss but still. What was she thinking?
The darkness of Kylo's pupils seemed to grow impossibly darker at her words; the temptation to follow her words was intoxicating. "One last chance." He advised, raising a brow, daring her to continue defying him. Reluctantly she stood from her chair; disappointment was written clearly on her face like a neon sign. Kylo could not withstand her disappointed pout; he gathered all the paperwork. "Wh- What are you doing?" She got no response until all the papers were neatly stacked into two separate piles. "You have two options. You let me finish this paperwork, and you go to bed, or we try to do both piles together and get them done as soon as possible so we can both go to bed. You'll still get the task done...Mostly, by yourself." He held out the pen to her as she weighed her options, the answer was obvious, but the allure of sleep was compelling. She took the pen and sat back in her seat; Kylo mirrored her actions. "Smart choice." He remarked.
 A while later, when both of them were halfway through their piles, Kylo Stood up from his seat. "Okay, let's take a break."
"Already?" Y/n huffed a laugh, looking up at the man.
 "Yes. Already. Taking a break can help remotivate you." He waved his hand, motioning her to stand up.
 "Yea...I suppose, Sir." She did as she was instructed; she followed him over to the large transparasteel window.
"I don't think I'll ever get used to this view," Y/n murmured as she stared out at the vast expanse of space. "Yeah, me too." She turned to look at him, only to find him already gazing at her. Kylo took a cautious step forward to see what she'd do; when she didn't move, he took another step in, their eyes never parting for even a second. Only a few inches stood between them when he stood directly in front of her. The atmosphere around them was thick with anticipation; he reached a leather-clad hand to her face and brushed a stray strand of hair behind her ear, leaning in ever so slightly.
The moment was sharply interrupted by a stormtrooper swiftly walking into the room, but before he could even say a word, he was in the air, his hands clinging to nothing as Kylo's hand was outstretched toward the poor trooper. Y/n was startled by how quickly things went from two different kinds of tense; when she looked up at Kylo, anger was etched onto his features. She reached up and put her hand on his outstretched arm. His head whipped away from the trooper to her; his expression was still stiff with anger, but his eyes were frantic with confusion. "It's okay. Put him down." Y/n's gentle and calm words persuaded Kylo from killing the Stormtrooper. "Speak. Quickly. What do you want?"
Kylo walked towards the man in white as he stood up from the floor. "I was told by General Hux that you were needed for a meeting about the resistance." Kylo turned to look at Y/n, then back to the trooper. "This wasn't scheduled." his voice was taut, almost bubbling over with anger. He swore Hux did this purposefully to make his life more challenging. Kylo sighed and dismissed the Stormtrooper. When he turned around to Y/n, she was staring out of the window again. "I'm Sorry." he breathed out. "For what, sir?" She asks, her gaze not turning from the window. He stood behind her, his form towering over hers. He stared at their reflections for a few moments before answering, "I know I said I'd help you finish your work. But if this emergency meeting manages to be important. You know what I have to prioritize." Y/n nodded.
Her gaze fixed on his in the reflection. "Of course. Let's hope it's important so you don't accidentally take someone's head off..."
"...And by someone, you mean Hux?"
Y/n sighed and nodded. "Precisely."
 "It won't get that far...Hopefully." Kylo stepped back as Y/n turned around to face him.
"Well? Go on." She smiled kindly at him.
"Are you giving me orders now, Miss Y/l/n?"
An embarrassed red glow crept onto Y/n's face. "I...Uh. N-No, Sir."
Her soldier façade was back instantly; this casualness was rare but never unpleasant in Kylo's opinion, but perhaps Y/n found it inappropriate. No, Kylo knew the truth. She could hide behind her outward appearance, but he knew what was happening inside her head. He smirked teasingly; he stepped away from her and returned to the table to gather the papers again, putting them in one pile and back into the file they came out of; he turned his head towards Y/n as she walked back over.
He handed her the file, "I'd like you to accompany me." He stated; this wasn't a request but an order. "Yes, Sir." She tried to hide it, but her nervousness raged loudly in her mind. A gentle pressure was laid on her shoulder; Kylo had placed his hand there reassuringly. "All you have to do is sit there and be quiet unless spoken to. I won't mind if you decide to nap through it since you'll be sitting in the back. There's no need to be anxious, so breathe." He reassured her and gently squeezed her shoulder. "Okay...I can do that, Sir." Y/n nodded. "Good, Now we should get going." And with that, they left the room, heading towards the conference room.

***
"March, we gotta talk."
Holland jerks up and immediately regrets it when his head pounds and everything tilts about 270° too far to the left. He groans and falls off the bed. Bed? He doesn’t remember getting there. Or undressing, apparently, because looking down, he quickly realizes he’s wearing nothing but some embarrassingly old boxers. And Healy’s standing above him. Holland scrambles back into bed and covers himself in a blanket.
"Stop pretending I haven’t seen you half-naked before. You’re acting like a Victorian duchess."
"A man must preserve his — hrrk — dignity," Holland retorts back in a bad British accent, having to pause and suppress a wave of nausea halfway through his sentence.
Healy scoffs
"Dignity, my ass! Holly found you passed out on the diving board. You could’ve gotten hurt! Again!"
Holland feels suddenly defensive. "And why do you care? What are you, my fairy drunk-mother?" Not your best comeback there, March, he thinks.
"You’re my business partner; I have a vested interest in having an income, so forgive me if I want my co-detective alive to work with me. You need to stop drinking."
Holland rolls his eyes. "I’ve got it under control, Healy. I’m a big boy, y’know?" God, he wishes he could take a nap right now.
"March, I’m serious; you’re going to do permanent damage to your liver. Plus," Healy hesitates as if he’s trying to figure out a way to finish his sentence without sounding like an asshole, "it’s not fair to Holly. You’re the only family she’s got left; you have to be there for her. She’s a teenager now and needs someone to guide her through adolescent idiocy. You’re her dad, you owe it to her."
That wakes him up. He’s always pushed down the guilt he has over his behavior, but when Healy lays it all out in front of him like that? He knows he’s deluded himself for years into thinking Holly wouldn’t notice, but she’s not a kid anymore. And the thought of her as an impressionable teenager following in his footsteps makes him nauseous for a whole different reason.
He sighs.
"Alright, alright, cut my balls off, why don’tcha? But fine, I get it."
"Thank you," Healy looks relieved.
"I can’t just quit cold chicken, though, withdrawals can be dead—"
"Turkey"
"Hm?" "The phrase is cold turkey."
"No, I’m pretty sure it's chicken."
"Why would it be — never mind. And yeah, it would be pretty dangerous to just stop altogether. What if we cut it down to one drink a day?"
"One? No way, pal, three a day minimum."
"Three?! There is something seriously wrong with you, March."
"Hey!"
An hour of negotiations later, they settle on a begrudged compromise.
That was a month ago, and Holland was regretting ever saying yes to the whole stupid plan. To substitute for the flask he always took a swig from whenever he needed to calm his nerves, he kept an extra pack of cigarettes, so he was smoking twice as much as usual. And Holly isn't a fan of his new habit. It’s a Monday morning, and Holland sits at the table, sipping his coffee, while Holly gets ready for school. Healy had stopped by to drop off some paperwork for their latest case, and now, for some inexplicable reason, is making them all pancakes. He bites back a comment about him making a great housewife and instead turns to Holly, arms out for a hug. She had a big test today and has insisted on the Mandatory Good Luck Hug before tests since kindergarten. She makes a face at him.
"Ugh, Dad, you smell gross!"
Tchk. Teenagers. "Holly, it’s rude to say that to someone’s face."
"It's true, March, you smell like an ashtray had sex with another ashtray," Healy comments from his place in front of the stove, not even turning around.
"Yeah, and then their house burned down." Holly adds, "You do know those will kill you one day, right?"
"Pfft, no way! Doctors used to give these to you! My own father had a prescription for a pack a day!"
Healy turns around. "Didn't he die of lung cancer?"
"Yeah, why?"
Healy pinches the bridge of his nose. He looks like he has a headache brewing.
Holly waltzes into the kitchen and steals a pancake from the ever-growing stack.
"In my psychology class, we talked about something called an Oral Fixation; Freud made it up. Maybe you just need to have something else to like, chew on and stuff."
"Sweetheart, we’ve talked about this —"
"Oh my God, Dad, just get some gum or whatever!"
She still leans in for a half hug while wrinkling her nose, because tradition is tradition. As she walks to the bus stop, Holland considers her words. Was he obsessed with things in his mouth? He took a sip of coffee before anyone could notice his face flushing a lovely shade of magenta.
The first thing he tries is Holly’s initial suggestion: gum. He gets a shit ton of flavors to try to find one he won’t get tired of. He settles on Bubblicious watermelon wave. The idea is largely effective, and Holland's smoking is cut down to what Holly decides is a "normal amount."
Unfortunately, Holland has the manners of a barn animal, so after only nine days of chewing with his mouth open non-stop, Healy is about to strangle him.
"March, buddy, I’m glad this is helping with your ‘mouth thing’," he starts. Holland opens his mouth to protest before Healy quickly cuts him off to finish. "But we have to figure something else out before I make the ‘arm incident’ look like a harmless prank."
Holland shuts up. No problem, he’ll find something else. He was getting tired of the gum sticking to his teeth anyway.
Holland’s next plan; a toothpick. More similar in shape to a cigarette and they last much longer. Bonus points: Holly thinks he looks “far out”. This plan lasts about 3 seconds before he gets a splinter in his gums. Toothpick is out.
Plan C is to just chew on the end of his pen as he works. Holland thinks it makes him look distinguished. Healy’s just kinda grossed out. Everything is fine until he finds a break in their case, jumps up in excitement, and promptly inhales the pen cap. Healy has to use the damn Heimlich maneuver on him, frantically grabbing him and squeezing harder than Holland thinks is necessary. But what does he know? And, wow, he definitely isn’t thinking about how Healy's strong arms feel around him.
When Healy silently hands him a teething ring meant for fussy toddlers, Holland almost punches him (attempted sobriety has him more on edge than usual). But hearing Holly’s muffled hysterics around the corner instantly dissolves his irritation. Something about Jackson and Holly working together just makes his heart flutter.
And sometimes, when he’s sure no one is looking, he’ll hold up the ring on a chain around his neck to his mouth. Softly, not biting or chewing, just letting it rest between his lips. And no matter what Jackson softly asks him one night, tears are not falling down his face. Those are the nights he really regrets cutting down on his drinking.
It’s when he starts keeping a lollipop in his mouth most of the day he notices Healy acting… Different. When Holland’s doing his work, going over papers and poring over phone books, he lets himself loosen up. Often he’ll tap his pen in random patterns, or jiggle his leg up and down (which drives Healy crazy), or more recently, he’ll hold his lollipop between his fingers like a cigarette and slowly lick circles around it. It’s a mindless behavior that helps him concentrate, but for some reason, Healy doesn’t like it. March can tell. He notices Healy glance at him and then darts his eyes down as if it weirds him out just to witness it. It hurts; Healy knows how much Holland is trying to be better, why would he judge him for how he’s coping? He tries to brush it off, wondering why it bothers him so much; he should be used to people not getting him by now.
They’re sitting next to each other on the couch in Holland’s living room, working on their latest case. It’s late at night and Holly is sleeping at a friend’s house for a birthday party. Holland is losing himself in the details of this case (who kidnaps a pet snake??) when he senses Healy’s attention on his mouth, which he currently occupies with a new blue raspberry lollipop.
After the fifth time Holland catches Healy staring at his mouth he snaps.
“I know I’m a fuck-up and everything but can you at least try to hide how much you —"
He’s cut off when something covers his lips. Oh. When Healy covers his lips. With his mouth. Oh. Holland’s brain takes about three seconds to catch up with what’s happening. Jackson’s kissing him. Holy shit.
Holy shit.
Jackson must’ve taken his frozen state as rejection because he quickly pulls back. Holland almost whines from the loss of contact.
“Fuck. Fuck! I shouldn’t have done that, I’m so sorry, Holland,” Jackson runs a hand through his hair, clearly panicking, “You’ve just been such a goddamn tease with the fuckin’, whatever it is you’re doing with those lollipops and I couldn’t hel—”
This time he’s cut off from finishing his sentence by Holland grabbing his face and kissing him so hard he’s distantly worried about breaking Jackson’s nose. Holland’s hands rest on the side of Jackson’s face and cup the back of his neck, bracing himself in a desperate attempt to hide how much he’s shaking. Jackson’s lips are firm and his 3-day-old stubble is rough against his skin; one of his hands automatically threads into Holland’s hair, and the other hovers over his side before settling on his hips. He squeezes and the feeling goes straight to Holland’s dick. He lets out a wet groan into Jackson’s mouth who responds with a deep rumble.
“Fuck, you have no idea how long I’ve wanted to do this,” Jackson growls, pulling away from Holland to let him catch his breath.
“Tell me,” is all that Holland responds, dipping his head and latching his mouth to Jackson’s neck, drawing out a strangled gasp.
“Since the day you fell asleep on my shoulder during that stakeout, and grabbed onto me like a fucked-up koala. I couldn’t keep my eyes off of you,” Jackson is visibly struggling to keep his composure as Holland's fingers move to the buttons on Jackson's shirt, frantically undoing them and pushing his hands under the cheap cotton. Holland moves his mouth down his neck, biting and sucking and doing things with his tongue that must be good because Jackson is making sounds that frankly should be illegal.
“Maybe Holly’s right, you really have a fixation on —”
Jackson yelps before he can finish his thought because Holland bites down hard into the soft skin of Jackson’s shoulder.
“Please don't mention my daughter while I’m giving you hickeys, it’s weird,” Holland mumbles while sucking what is sure to be a large dark splotch into Jackson’s collarbone.
“What I’m saying,” Jackson starts, as he grabs Holland's hair and jerks his head up to look him in the eyes, pupil’s blown. Holland would’ve whined from the loss of contact if he wasn’t moaning from Jackson’s hand tugging against his scalp.
“What I’m saying, is that maybe you just need to be doing something useful for once with that pretty little mouth besides drinking and talking non-stop.”
“And smoking, can’t forget all the smo—” Jackson shuts him up by shoving the thumb of the hand not tangled in his hair into Holland’s mouth, pressing down on his tongue. He moans around his hand in a way he knows must sound obscene. Jackson curses as Holland simultaneously starts sucking his fingers like it’s his job and fumbling with the buckle on Jackson’s jeans.
“God, you are something special, Holland,” he murmurs softly, and Jackson says his name with such reverence that if Holland doesn’t get the other man’s pants off immediately, he might explode.
He drops to his knees between Jackson’s thick thighs, because if everyone and their mother were so insistent he has this ‘mouth fixation’ or whatever, he might as well blow their expectations out of the water.
Heh, blow. Good one March.
He stares at the crotch of Jackson’s jeans, already starting to drool.
___
After that night, Holland sticks with the lollipops (now sugar-free, because his dentist nearly had a conniption when he last went in for a cleaning). No longer worried about Healy’s judgment, he loosens up and allows himself to fidget weirdly in peace. And if he and Jackson are alone on the nights when needs a little help with his mouth thing (because fine, yes, he might have a little fixation. Sue him), and he’s having a particularly hard time not turning to his vices? Well, that’s between him, his gag reflex, and Freud.
***
Hope y'all enjoyed!!! You get bonus points if you find all the other Ryan Gosling movie references Again, this is the first full fic I've written so any and all feedback is welcomed!

Yeah… (Kamisato Ayato/Reader
I woke up a few days ago with a craving and wrote this in one sitting. It’s not finished. It has not been proof read because my beta-reader would have a conniption if she saw this (lesbians amiright).
Uhm.
Reader is gender neutral.
Not really smut.
Ayato is touch starved.
You reading this:
Tumblr media
You sighed as you leaned back in your chair as the last of the flame spluttered out, leaving you in total darkness. Tossing the quill you were holding aside, you pushed back your chair.
Rain was pouring heavily outside. It was drizzling earlier, clouds grey and tired, but that was just regular Inazuman weather. Lightning thundered once, then twice. You grimace. The Shogun must be extra angry today.
It wouldn’t be such a problem normally. Normally, everyone living at the Kamisato Estate would be inside the manor by this time of night. The rest of the servants had already gone to bed.
So why were you still up?
You scowled, standing up to grab a matchbox from the tiny shelf attached to your dresser-desk. It was a mix of the two, really. You walk back to your chair, fumbling with the match and huffing to yourself when light filled the room again.
You scanned over the report you had been writing. Technically, this responsibility fell to the Head of House. Technically, the Head of House took care of all paperwork.
The scratching of the quill against parchment relaxed you slightly. It was a familiar sound, one that joined you at least once or twice a day. You didn’t mind doing part of the paperwork. It was part of your job description, as the right hand of Kamisato Ayato.
Paperwork was his responsibility, yes, but helping him was your responsibility.
You glanced outside the window again, sighing once more when the rain showed no sign of stopping.
And still Kamisato Ayato was nowhere to be found.
He had left the Estate in the morning, to go someplace he hadn’t told you, which was unusual in its own right. You knew everything about where he went and what he did. (A wonder that knowledge didn’t drive you insane sometimes. Kamisato Ayato had a tendency to be a bit unbearable sometimes).
But you had no clue where he was right now. Which was the reason for the tight and uneasy feeling in your chest. You play with the skin around your fingernails, getting irritated.
This was absolutely ridiculous.
A thud outside your room brought you out of your thoughts. You startle, looking towards the door. It’s handle turned with a creak, and you reached for the blade hiding beneath your skirt.
The door opened. Kamisato Ayato fell through. Speak of the fucking Devil. You must have done something terrible in your past laugh, because Celestia was laughing in your fucking face.
“My lord!” You gasped, watching as your employer stumbled across the room towards you. He was holding a hand to his abdomen, something red dripping down onto the floor. “What- what happened!”
“Close- close the door. Please.” Kamisato Ayato breathed out, collapsing. You lunged forward, attempting to cradle him in your arms, but Archons, he was heavy.
“Just. Just close to the door.”
You nodded, frightened, dashing to close it. Then you rushed back to him, unsure of what to do next.
“Take off my clothes.” Kamisato Ayato instructs you next, wincing as he tries to sit up.
You stare at him. He notices, raising a thin eyebrow.
“Could I just- what the fuck happened?”
Kamisato Ayato let’s out a breath, shifting slightly. “I went out.”
“You went out.” You said in a flat tone. “Without telling me? Or anybody, for that matter?”
“I’m sorry.” His voice was soft, and his blue eyes looked at you with something like guilt in them. Your breath might have been taken away, but who can really say for sure. “I’ll let you know next time.”
You inhale sharply, glancing at his abdomen. “Never mind that now. Why are you bleeding?”
“Hm.” His voice definitely sounded a little less lifelike then. “Fight went wrong. Didn’t see it coming.”
“Ok. Ok.” You fling your hands around frantically, panic finally seeping in. “What do I do?”
“Take off my clothes.” Kamisato Ayato repeated. “Just the top parts. You can leave the pants on.”
“Yes. Uhm.”
You quickly set to work with untying the knots on his uniform. Why were there so many fucking layers? You cursed under your breath as you finally shrugged off the shoulders of the final kimono, revealing his smooth, pale, unblemished skin. You tried very hard not to think about the proximity, or what scandal might be started if someone were to walk in on you two that moment.
You held back a gasp at the sight of the bloody mess that was Kamisato Ayato’s stomach. It has been sliced open, blood still oozing from the wound.
“Rip apart some of the fabric.” He says in between short breaths, chest falling up and down. You watched the movement very carefully. “Wrap it around.”
You nodded, doing as he said so, glad that the ghastly wound was no longer visible.
“I think it might scar.” You mutter.
He lets out a laugh, immediately wincing.
“Let’s get you into the bed.” You say, wrapping your arms around his torso, feeling him tense.
“Are you alright?” You ask, worried, but Kamisato Ayato shakes his head and stands up on shaky legs. You shoot up after him, guiding him to your bed. He relaxes into it with an exhale.
“Do you need me to do anything else?”
He shakes his head again. His eyes were lidded now, as is he could barely keep them open.
“Are you hungry, my lord? I have some left over bread from dinner.”
He levels you with a stare, opening his mouth. You want to frown at him for expending too much energy but what he says next makes all thoughts fly out of you brain.
“Call me Ayato.”
You blink rapidly. The world might have ended. You wouldn’t know. Your heart was pounding too fast for you to hear anything, and your head was filled with that one sentence for you to think about anything.
“Hello?”
Your eyes slowly focused back on the scene in front of you. Ayato tilted his head to the side, focusing intently on you.
“Anybody in there?”
“Oh.” Your mouth seemed to be working again. “Oh.”
Or maybe not.
Ayato’s lips quirked up. He looked almost amused. Part of you wanted to feel annoyed at that. The bigger part of you was still trying to figure out what to do next.
“You’re red.” Ayato observed.
Your eyes snapped towards his crystal ones, and suddenly your mind cleared.
“Ayato.”
He no longer seemed amused. His face turned very serious. “Say that again.”
“Ayato.”
He shifted, hands coming to grip your biceps, pulling you to tower above you. The air around you shifted.
“Again.” He breathed.
“Ayato.”
“Again.”
“Ayato.”
“Again.”
And so it went. You must have said it at least a hundred times, whispering when your voice got hoarse. Every time you said his name, Ayato would shudder beneath you. Just the slightest of trembles. You could feel his skin underneath your fingers, hot where you touched him.
You slide your hands up to his hair, brushing out any knots. Your fingernails scratched against his nape, and Ayato let out a delicious sound.
He was breathing harder now, as you touched him everywhere. His bare shoulders, his strong back, his warm cheeks, his arms that were still tightly gripping yours.
Yeah that’s it.
Maybe if this gets 100 likes I’ll actually write the smut but writing straight people smut scares me so… don’t expect anything.

SICK - JUNMIN °
~~~~~~~~♡
"Baby.." Junmin whispers in my ear, softly shaking my body to wake me up. "H-hmm?" My eyes flutter open, finding a concerned junmin stare at me.
"Are you alright..? Normally you wake up before me and- oh no.. you have a fever." Junmin frowns, resting his hand on my hot forehead. I hum in response, too tired to open my eyes as I feel him peck my lips.
"I'll go make us some breakfast, and get you some medicine baby." Junmin gets out of bed, moving the blankets away from his body as I quickly grab his hand. "Noo minnie.. stay in bed with me~" I moan, tugging on his hand.
"But your sick! Lemme go make our breakfast and get your medicine and then I'll stay with you okay?" He caresses my hand, sitting on the edge of the bed.
He chuckles softly, pinching my cheek before walking to the kitchen. Wrapping an apron around his waist, he gets out a pan and two eggs, cracking them. He hums softly to himself before letting out a yelp, looking down to find my arms on his waist.
"What the- yahh!! I thought you to stay in bed!" He puts his hands on his hips, turning around to look down at me. "But I wanted to stay with you.." I mumble, tiredly hugging him. He lets out a sigh, dragging me back to bed. "I'll come back soon hm?" He kisses my cheek, walking back to the kitchen.
"Now where was I..?" He mutters, going back to cook the eggs. After a few minutes he puts the finished product on the plate, pushing it aside and cook the other breakfast items. "Mm these taste good.." I appear out of nowhere, eating some of the egg while hugging him.
"What.. where did you come from? You scared me!!" He puts his hand on his chest, breathing heavily before grabbing my hand. "I told you to stay in bed..!!" He begins to scold me, starting to get mad. "But I wanna stay with you.." I reason, pouting softly as he runs his hand through his hair.
"Fine how about.. you sit on the couch okay?" He brings me to the living room, turning on the tv and giving me a blanket. "The food will be done soon."
A/n: okay so this was supposed to be written like 2 days ago but I had TERRIBLE writers block so I decided to leave it like this.. a drabble technically. I have to write a bunch of stuff now that people are requesting stuff 😪 (keep doing it)
I never thought that everyone would like my headcanons though.. thanks!
thank you for the tag @albonoooo <333
star sign: leo (attention whore signs 4 the win)
favourite holiday: my neighborhood does neighbor day every year and that’s a solid percentage of my favorite childhood memories. my neighborhood is very very close (very much so an “it takes a village” mentality) so i grew up with essentially twenty aunts and uncles. and also like ten dogs and thirteen vaguely cousin-esque figures on my block. anyways it’s like a massive potluck barbecue thing, it goes from like noon to whenever the last person heads in (which can be quite late). think like. potluck barbecue to casual day drinking to big bonfire w smores as the day goes by. as a kid i spent the whole day roaming the neighborhood and coming back every so often to grab food from the tables before heading off again. as an adult i got to get drunk on seltzers with a bunch of 50 somethings and it was incredible
last meal: omg it was my last ohio meal… i got it from this really special like local version of sonic’s (like a drive up food place). they make their burgers w a little bit of brown sugar and mashed banana (they’re the best burgers i’ve ever had). so i had a double hamburger w fries and a mint shake w brownie spindled in. if you’re ever driving through ohio PLEASE hit me up to get this place’s name it’s GLORIOUS. 1980s pricing (admittedly 80s portions too lol). neon signs everywhere. what i will miss the most
current favourite musician: i tend to just hit play on my liked songs so whatever i liked most recently gets played wayyyy more. a lot of the backseat lovers rn
last music listened to: mama’s gun by glass animals (BANGER OF A SONG!!!)
last movie watched: the muppet christmas carol i think . yeah according to letterboxd that lmfao
last tv show watched: i just binged monarch: legacy of monsters w my parents (amazing godzilla tv show but godzilla’s only in it for like. 10 minutes total lol. gay people <3) and then we started lockwood & co tonight on a whim
last book/fic finished: the invisible library by genevieve cogman !!! so good. librarian spy thieves…
last book/fic abandoned: oh gosh. i am such a completionist that i don’t think i ever leave books unfinished. technically i won’t be able to finish the masked city (the sequel to the invisible library) bc it belongs to the library and i am moving. but i will be picking it back up as soon as i have a library card in my new area so? does that even count? yeah i don’t really dnf things
currently reading: the masked city by genevieve cogman technically. lol. i’m trying to read at least a page a day in january. some days that means literally reading a page other days it’s reading 300. since i started the masked city like four days ago ive only made it through 30 pages bc moving is a nightmare so.
last thing researched for writing/art/hyperfixation: hm. technically for the last thing i like posted that would be the drug testing guidelines for f1 (tldr fun fact party drugs are fine out of competition). i read like. 60 pages of legalese. and a bunch of medical stuff and then several wikipedia pages and guides for athletes. the last wikipedia article i opened was for NATO and i have no idea why LOL
favourite online fandom memory: i have the memory of a goldfish… i’m also pretty sure f1 is the first time i’ve been involved w a fandom like. as it’s happening. i’m usually a latecomer . i did enjoy whatever the fuck went down w supernatural and putin that was fun second hand (literally thru a groupchat bc i was in my significantly less terminally online era aka i was in college)
favourite old fandom you wish would drag you back in/have a resurgence: newsies (1992) my beloved… i plotted out a fic that would stretch over like. 40 years. i went INSANE on historical accuracy research. and then i got depressed… someday my magnum opus (slice of life polyamory through turn of the century nyc) will come to fruition
favourite thing you enjoy that never had an active or big fandom, but you wish it did: i feel like there’s been a million times i’ve walked out of a movie (or finished a book, or a tv show) and gone to ao3 and then it has like. 4 works. the rivers of london series by ben aaronovitch only has like . 1k fics on ao3. and not a lot of ppl posting on tumblr. so maybe that?
tempting project you're trying to rein in/don't have time for: all of them tbh… runners au really (it’s spawned into like three different fics of plot lines Plus an epistolary type companion…). i literally constantly come up w ideas (usually hyper specific aus) all the time ask dees it’s a PROBLEM for me. bc i have no time for any of them…
no pressure tags if u wld like <3 @userkritaaay @leclercenjoyer @drivestraight @oscarpiastriwdc @eyes-likepilotlights (i have not paid a ton of attention to who has done this/been tagged sorry)
questions for fic writers: 9, 14, 17, 26, 40, 41, 48
9. How do you find new fic to read?
Depends what I'm looking for. For fandoms I already know and have already browsed, I'll check the latest fics posted (most of the time filtering to only see finished works but not always) (sometimes with a rating filter, sometimes not).
If I'm into a new pairing or a new fandom altogether, I'll go with the usual "Ranked by kudos" + "Finished works" combo and browse through the pages.
I also look in my "Bookmarked for Later" list from time to time but some fics there have been waiting for me for a long time now.
14. Are there any tropes you would only read if written by a trusted friend or writer?
Hm. My instinct was to say no only because I already read pretty much everything now, even stuff that I didn't think I would want to approach a while ago. But, all things considered, there are still some tags that I avoid and that I would have to give a chance for some writers I love, I have to admit.
17. What highly specific AU do you want to read or write even though you might be the only person to appreciate it?
I don't have anything that comes up to mind. The other day I was thinking about the THIRDS series (of books) and how the MotoGP riders would fit in that universe so maybe that.
26. Would you rather write a fic that had no dialogue or one that was only dialogue?
It's funny because I've kind of already done both? This Coldflash fic from 2019 doesn't exactly have zero dialogue but it comes close to it considering the format. And if we're not too technical, this Mattdrai fic from 2021, using social media formats, is kind of all dialogues (in different forms).
And if I really have to chose, I think no dialogue is easier and even though I love a good dialogue, I'm not sure I could do only that (or altering the rules a little there).
40. Do you tend to reread fics or are you a one-and-done kind of person?
I tend (or tended) to be the second type of person with most pieces of media and arts (read: fics, tv shows, movies, books) and it will frustrate me to rewatch or reread something because I already know what's happening next. That said, I think I've changed over the last few years and now I'm able to rewatch things and reread my favorite fics with great pleasure.
41. Link a fic that made you think, "Wow, I want to write like that."
Literally anything ever written by @ladyeggplant. The bro but make it soft series is a forever favorite of mine.
48. What's the last fic you read? Do you recommend it?
The last thing I read was your savage good boy by @yekoc and I 100% recommend it to everyone. So beautifully written. A delicious Cele/Bezz that I had to pause several times just for my brain to go !!! before I could proceed in my reading again.
Got tagged by @fixaidea, thank you!!!
I technically did it a few days ago, but then I was tagged by myself, to let this tag game make rounds, so can I be excused for doing it again? 🥺
This time with Guardian/Weilan derivs focus, not to repeat the same info too many times ~~
1. How many works do you have on AO3? 144, and at this point Guardian and co are the majority of those
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
1,261,968 words - I am pretty much this meme:
Tumblr media
things always end up longer than I plan them to be 😓
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Well, aside from the old ones, currently mostly for Guardian, The Rebel/ Detective L (Luolin, my beloved), I dabble in DMBJ for weilan derivs purposes
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
In Guardian/Derivs fandom? Through the Window of This Love, written with Ascel (300), The Once and Future Hei Pao Shi (270), The Story's Unwinding, written with Ascel (223), One Prize I'd Cheat to Win (187), Constant Vigilance (177)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Oh, absolutely, I love talking to people in general, and I do like thanking people for sharing their thoughts about the story, 'tis why I share afer all
6. What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Erm. Either When I Make an Oath to the Flames (Guardian) or Unceasing Path (Luolin)? Hard to choose, I do love angst and bad endings
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Hm. Maybe We Devour Like a Falcon in a Dive? (Luolin) - it's as much of a fix-it as my angsty tendencies allowed these two
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Well. I wouldn't call it 'hate' but I did have some odd interactions lately that suggested gently that maybe I should stop writing.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
No, no smut from me. Behold my best buddy: Fade To Black
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
Oh, yes, absolutely. Mostly of the Weilan derivatives persuation, admittedly, but it counts, right? I also comitted a Luolin/ Guardian crossover, inspired by Terry Pratchett and his observations about the nature of universities.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Kinda
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Not a Guardian one
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Hah, hell yeah. Best kind of fun
14. What's your all-time favorite ship?
Weilan, on the basis that they are canon and the reason why I am still here and not moving on. From Weilan derivs: Luolin
15. What's a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
A post-canon murder mystery with Luo Fei and Lin Nansheng that I am not educated enough to write just yet, too many things to research, too little time. Also I am not very good at Agatha Christie murder riddles, on the basis of: I haven't written any yet. Would love to try though.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I've heard that it's characterization and sense of humour. Unless I am gutting people, then it's the atmosphere?
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Repetitions. Commas. Forgetting where the hell my characters are sitting. Ignoring the fact that they should eat at some point.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
Sure, if researched and checked
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Inuyasha, I guess
20. Favorite fic you've written?
Hard to pick due to lots of sentiment to different ones for different reasons. In terms of 'this was a fic written by me, for me' then weilan!steampunk au Deceive me kindly (while I am still here), because it's a mixture of my favourite things: doomed romance, steampunk and references to the drama
Thank you once more for tagging me! 🥰
Tagging this time: @forerussake, @clevermanka, @sasamelons,
Pokemon long rambling activated :3
Seriously long post
So before my mom banned pokemon from our house (probably when I was around 7?) we loved Pokémon. We never had a video game console but my cousins did. So technically pokemon stadium is my first pokemon game! Only ever the rentals haha. But we loved playing the mini games.
When my mom banned pokemon and sold all our plushies (rip butterfree plush, I'll get you back some day) it was a pokemon drought. Until my cousin went to college and gave me her pokemon card collection. (Supposedly the halo mew is worth $100?! But I treasure them) and the brainrot infected me once again.
I started learning everything I could about game mechanics. This was when Gen 5 came out in Japan so you didn't even have the English translations yet! I made lists of what my teams would be in each game, how to divy up the HMs, how to get certain egg moves. All without playing a single game lol.
And then I found playr.org. It had all the retro game boy games. Including Pokémon Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver, and Crystal. Unfortunately the saving system wasn't so great and got corrupted a few times (rip shiny ekans) but I did mostly play Silver or Crystal. (This is where the name Wren for my character was born!)
I craved more but I didn't know how to download emulators safely :( I watched playthroughs to get by. To this day let's plays are a comfort source for me <3
By the way I did all of this without my parents ever knowing. I was very good at hiding it from them XD
I think it was finally like freshman year of college when I figured out the pokemon fan games. I'm talking Uranium, Phoenix Rising demo, Ethereal Gates demo, Solar Light Lunar Dark, Sage, aka non emulator ones. Basically any I could get my hands on. I also started drawing fakemon in my sketchbook. I kind of want to revisit those some day. I still have the sketchbook somewhere.
Then I figured out emulators FINALLY. At least enough and got an emulator and mystery dungeon explorers of sky, MY BELOVED! I have played through the rom many times. I have a randomizer. Also a few years ago I found Sky Temple for editing the rom aka different starter pokemon. The discord server is always working on making new sprites so you can be any pokemon you want its very wonderful.
Junior year of college, I said I'd had enough. I spent an entire year hyping over Sun and Moon and my bestie/roomie convinced me to treat myself, something I literally never did. I bought a 3DS and Pokemon Sun and never looked back. I loved it. My first real pokemon game. (My parents were not happy when they found out lol). I spent so many hours. I got big into breeding perfect IV pokemon (idk why cause I never did online battles) or shiny breeding. I used to work til 11 pm some nights and before bed I'd just do some breeding. I would have the pokemon in the perfect ball and have all the egg moves and perfect IVs and nature and have the perfect nick name cause I was obsessive like that oof. I got ultra moon when it came out as well and loved it. I also bought pokemon X and Omega Ruby which I enjoyed. But Sun and Ultra Moon I played many times and bred so many perfect pokemon.
I did pick up roms around this time for Heart Gold, Soul Silver, Black and White and the sequels, and maybe Platinum? But they ran really slow on my computer so I never made it far. I preferred playing on my 3ds. But I still played quite a bit of Sky rom.
I was, less excited about Sword and Shield. I saved up a whole year to buy my switch and bought Lets go Eevee, Botw, and Sword when Gen 8 came out. I did inhale the entire game of Sword in one week, but I don't think I ever finished a second playthrough. The story was really disappointing and I did not like the gen 8 pokemon as much. It's hard when you're not a big fan of any of the starter evolutions, cause pressing B for every level up is tedious :(
I did enjoy Lets Go Eevee but after I loaned it to my bestie I had troubled getting back in. The ball throwing was a little off putting.
Oh I also bought Mystery dungeon Rescue Dx and I enjoyed that quite a bit!
Last summer I was struggling a lot with my emotions and frustration with my mom and as a form of therapy started spending money oof. I wanted a second DS so I could trade back and forth and make my life easier. It took a lot of bidding on Goodwill online but I snagged a second 2ds, legit copy of pmd sky! and pmd gates to infinity. And Pokemon Soul Silver! Also I bought the digital versions of gen 1 and 2 before the eshop closed.
I also bought Shining Pearl cause it went super on sale, but after I lent it to my bestie I haven't played since. I actually dont like too many gen 4 pokemon besides Glaceon, Leafeon, and Chatot.
Playing pokemon mystery dungeon on a 3ds instead of a computer keyboard was so much more satisfying. I played through Sky and loved it of course. Then I picked up Gates to Infinity which I never knew the story. I enjoyed it! I was and Oshawott with partner Snivy.
This brings me to last late summer, and the turtle brainrot set in and grew. Less pokemon, more turtles! I debated back and forth whether to get Scarlet or Violet up til the day it released. And then I just didn't. I watched playthroughs though. Seems pretty good and I like a lot of the pokemon, especially after gen 8 when I struggled to find enough to fill out a team of 6. I only like to use pokemon I like. I'm sure I'll get it someday but for now, turtles have my brain.
And that's my pokemon origin story! Still mad about my mom selling all our pokemon plushies. I do still have my cousins pokemon cards and I treasure them <3
I am very adamant about my pokemon having the perfect nick names.
Umbreon is my favorite pokemon <3
Not surprisingly this got very very long. If you made it this far, have a Leppa Berry <3
