LobCorp Recommended Mod Guide (One-step install modpacks now linked below 1 for QoL but close to vanilla, and one to smooth over the progression curve/reduce grind)
As someone who played LobCorp vanilla (and strongly adovcate aganist it unmodded even for the theme of the story) these are my mod recommendations. I don't have the time to actually test these but these are what I think would help a lot of people play this game.
Basemod is a mod management platform that allows LobCorp to be modded - and because the game has a lot of jank that don't really speak to the game's actual difficulty curve a lot of it is worth modding out or adjusting even if you don't want to reduce the difficulty bad QoL is not an actual difficulty curve so some of the time you spend in this game is a result of jank and not actual mechanical depth or challenges. More below.
Original Basemod 5.1.1 guide (explains in simple terms how to install it in 2nd paragraph, unlinked mods are in here. This is the most popular mod guide afaik). A lot of the mods are translated/adapted from the forum DC Inside from the original BM creator abcdcode. Basemod 5.2 (unofficial) guide (maybe check this if some older ver. mods don't work) NexusMods (for most English mods that might help).
Make the game playable [QOL Focused, does not actually functionally change anything about the game's actual mechanics] (the game will still be hard as nails but without the jank that should be in the game):
Infinite Rerolls (95% of lategame difficulty is being trolled by RNG, if you don't want to use this mod, you can hit "return to menu" in the vanilla game to retry from last day without repo rewinding). [Checked]
Employee Group Select (the base game makes it really hard to micro departments unless you really like RTS) [Broken For Me]
Detailed Work-Related Stats (see discrete success chances as opposed to vague wording). [Checked]
Work Macro (holding Shift Auto-repeats work, great for mindlessly farming when all ordeals for a day are over). [Checked]
Agent List (Hitting TAB shows department select as opposed to an ordeal being required to do this). [Checked]
Shield Health Viewer (Shields actually show how much mitigation is remaining, notably absent from vanilla). [Checked]
Agent Recustomization (no longer costs 1 LOB to make your OCs or friends). [OLD] Have not found a working version.
Make the game approachable for all to enjoy [Removing constraints but still keeping MOST difficulty in but respecting your time because the game is absurdly grindy]:
Full-Time Employees (Your units remain if you go back to day 1) <== super good if you dont want to re-grind units every time you rewind. This means yo uwon't have to go through the bs of re-farming stats and can focus solely on gear-farm & doing the story while optimizing your Abno picks with infinite rerolls). [checked]
Overtime Pay (stat-grinding now gives extra points) [checked]
Instant Stat Gains (don't have to end a day to get rewarded with stat increases) [arguably a QoL mod too not gamebreaking]
Rewarding Ordeals (boosted EGO gift odds and stat growths after ordeals killed) [untested]
Extra Justice Attribute (justice now scales DPS) [works somewhat]
Increase Max EGO to 5 (reduces the re-roll grinding substantially) [Checked]
Speedup (increase game speed to 5 if you want) [OLD]
Suppress Leveling (suppressions actually give XP for combat). [Unsure but it seems to work for me]
Sticky Agents (agents no longer wander back & forth, caution this may make certain animation dodges very precise but will more often than not be helpful if you hate the wandering idle anims). [Checked]
Better Central Command Architecture (this department just has a bad layout imo) [Checked]
Flatten the curve to make the game reasonable [I just want to read the cutscenes but still play the game]:
Unsure if Super Agents works because it is old but if it does you will basically be invulnerable to ordeals/suppressions [OLD, replies seem to suggest it doesn't work but worth a try].
"Casual Mode Mod", a 2023 mod that makes daily energy lower and substantially reduces meltdowns to cut down the time of the grind. +100% exp rate, and LOB rewards increase. This mod alone doesn't make the game free but it cuts down the bizarrely high time requirement to play LobCorp which is one of the most substantial barriers to entry. (I'm about to beat it at around 150h). Combine this with the red and green mods and you'll basically have a great time.
Guaranteed Gifts (abno gifts will 100% trigger)
Overlapping Gifts (gifts no longer are 1 per slot)
There are mods to boost stats and EGOs, I suggest you find working ones on Reddit or NM.
I recommend looking around on Nexus Mods or even on reddit for other useful mod recommendations, but be careful, some mods will spoil you. The ones I suggested and recommended here do not contain any - but some on Nexus Mods definitely will.
If any mods don't work please check the Nexus Mods link for any similar mods that are from 2020, the 2019 ones seem to not be working as consistently or at all.
I can't attest that all the mods listed play nicely with each other but please give them a try if you find the base game too daunting, trust me, I went through the grinder and vanilla is fundamentally missing the green mods I listed here at the very least. The ones in the 1st document indicate which Basemod versions and above it will work with so if you have compatibility troubles just use the google doc that is first.
STEAM VISUAL GUIDE FOR MOD INSTALLATION:
The TL;DR for installing Basemod into the "Basemods" folder is that you need to make sure every mod has its own dedicated folder if the download itself doesn't come with one. This is an example layout where none of the mods have files outside of the folders they have dedicated to them. If they don't have an included folder, just name it after whatever the dll file is so you can tell what's in there. It will work nonetheless.
Tumblr media
I have added the tag #lobcorpguide to make this post easier to find if it updates since tumblr hates proper-clickthroughs now. So you can find the updated details.
One-click installations (drag the files to the steam installation location and drop the minside the folder called LobotomyCorp_Data).
QoL only & Progression focused. Let me know if it works! The guide/readme file is in the "Basemods" with an s folder along with each mod. I explain what each does, and you can delete or add more at your leisure to that folder, just make sure it has a dedicated folder for each specific mod.

Schwarz Mod 2 gives her only 5% more Def shred which come on HG if Gladiia can give multiple units 30% damage reduction Schwarz could've had like a 15% increase at least. I don't understand the swinginess of modules strength except as HG playing favorites...
It's not that bad because the actual module stats is a really funny +120 ATK to her and the module also boosts her crit damage, but (i say this without doing any testing and can be wrong) I think this is pretty much still just "Default Schwarz but her crits are even fatter".
I personally find it difficult to vouch for Mod2 when Schwarz already shits on extremely high DEF enemies while Pozyomka out DPSes her otherwise, vs Mod1 Schwarz providing team sniper support and a great -25s redeploy time for an assassin build. But I could be wrong. Maybe they introduce some dudes with Patriot++ level defensive stats and if you don't use Hexers then Schwarz is basically your only non-True Damage hope.
What I'm really mad about is Siege.
Tumblr media
What the shit is this Hypergryph. +16% ATK and DEF, 24 if she's blocking something? Is that really the best you can do for the face of the Second Arc?
Saga feeds her team SP and Flametail is an evasion tank that blenders enemies but all Siege gets is some stats and encouragement? If she was only going to get stats at least make it BIG my dudes. +50% ATK/DEF, fuck it. She's got Defender-tier stats and Guard-like ATK, if you're using her S3 she's not making DP anyway so might as well go big or go home.
They were probably scared about buffing her just because of how scarily high her damage numbers can scale with stat buffs (Aak + Warfarin on her is hilarious), but consider this: Saber Siege deserves it.
I am expecting some crazy shit for her second module.

Hoo, talking about not liking a ship in this fandom is so risky but I'm happy to see everyone is sane to hold a calm conversation here! I have a problem with some ladies in Genshin because some just seem so bland like Ayaka and Jean, like you said before. For me Ayaka literally have no personality and (look at the risk) Beelzebub, not the puppet, the Archon. Those two just seem so... uninteresting, before the plot of the Shogun being 2 beings in 1 I was so hyped for Baal because she looked so amazing and scary the type of "don't give me any bullshit" but turned out that was the puppet and not the Archon... Kokomi was in the list too but after seeing her dealing with mental health I began to go soft for her. But also, I do understand the appeal these characters can hold and I'm happy for anyone that have them as their favorite be it for meta or for lore and characterization. And while I do like Zhongli and Childe (because, alongside Diluc, I also love Zhongli very much) I can see why some people don't like the ship, if we're going to analyze Zhongli as a character, we can all agree that Zhongli was pretty much an a-hole, and Childe being Childe would never trust in him again, they can still have little encounters where they eat together but I think this is more so Childe can keep an eye on the strongest and oldest ex-Archon-without-a-gnosis and nag him for a spar with him. BUT may I offer you: Zhongli x Diluc x Childe skjdfnkjnsd O god how I like rare ships, there's always so few people that like them and they're always so creative. ~S
Tumblr media
Well, I do my best to ensure people know I would never invalidate their opinions. And ya know... I don't think my opinions are law. So I hope I feel like I am a good place to try and have that discussion. Especially since I also try to make it clear I'm not going to have a discussion if my opinions aren't respected.
I do have a fear that most Genshin women are built to be sold rather than built for their characters. Like Jean, Ei and Ayaka feel like really good examples of that. I'd also put Keqing in there, too. Yes I will forever be bitter about her being a 5-star over Ningquang or Beidou who not only make more sense to be 5 but are waaaay more involved in the story and have stronger personalities.
Like to be hoenst Jean, Ei, and Ayaka. They are my meta Builds. I built them to play a part. I do not care about them. Ei currently is my Xiao battery. Jean is out there to Heal my Childe, and Ayaka is a sub DPS for my Diluc. Though with Ayaka, I can work around her in relationships to my favorite asshole, Ayato. So I'm a little more partial.
And finally, for ZhongchiLuc. I'm not an OT3 person, but It's the only way I personally can see that relationship working is Zhongli and Childe bonding through a mutual love of Diluc. If you want more of my thoughts about it, I'll just kinda... Direct you to this post. Also, here are some other posts I'm making about them, which... might mean I have a thing in the works, but I'm currently editing. (Mod AUs are a pain in my ass)
Rare ships are honestly really fun in my opinion. And I'm looking forward more character to try and Ship with Diluc. UuU.

So, I think it’s been 3 years since the first time I finished Hopeful, who was the last time I played LISA games at all, and that’s also the only LISA fangame that I played. I’m in Hopeful mood after watching my favorite streamer did a replay of Painful, and his friend just recently finished Hopeful stream that covered all of the endings.
So I looked around and found this super interesting Hopeful mod: Hopeful in Joyful, by Calvin.
The premise is pretty simple: just put Hopeful characters in Joyful settings. And that simple premise is enough to get me hooked. Because I like Hopeful’s characters, and the original setting is also great for them. It’s a good idea for them to climb the list in order to get high social position, therefore making the rest of the world respect them and let them get the girl.
I had a lot of fun playing this game that I completed it in one sitting, around 3 hours and a half, much like Joyful. One thing that I like is how Beltboy became great friends instantly with Tooley the Green Ranger. I wish the party could recruit him because of how quickly Beltboy got along with him, maybe his fate could have been different.
Had fun battling the Joyful bosses with the Hopeful team. I ended up keeping the original songs as a blast from the past from three years ago when I completed Painful and Joyful at earlier 2019. I didn’t have hard time at all dealing with Dice Mahone at the original Joyful, but in this game I had the hardest time against him. Many enemies’ mechanics and attack pattern were changed to, most likely adjust with the fact that there are four party members.
And speaking of hardest time, I did have a hard time against the secret boss too, but somehow I persevered and won first try. I like the idea that this entire game might be Beltboy’s dream or something, just him running away from reality whenever things go south as usual, and the whole secret boss sequence is the reality trying to sneak into his dream. Or, maybe this is a prequel to the original Hopeful game? Either way, I like the secret boss, no matter how difficult it was. Get Down certainly helped, even though Hide mechanics were adjusted to, probably avoid it being too OP.
Tumblr media
I gave the belt buckle to Cyclops so his DPS could catch up with the rest of the team. As a result Cyclops moved first, which really threw me off at first. Besides, it’s Hart’s belt buckle, so it would suit him the most.
I like that Yado’s fight is genuinely challenging this time, he finally put up a real fight--though after beating the secret boss, it’s obviously not as challenging, just like when getting to Hart after defeating Hardest Rider.
Reginald being the shopkeeper to compensate Chester was great, I’m happy. I also panicked because Baby, the mutant at Mr. Beautiful’s place, wrecked my team apart and only Beltboy survived, barely, and I had no Perfumes. I assumed that things would go pretty similar as Joyful, so I sold the entirety of my Joy and bought Perfumes to bring everyone back up, only to find out that Mr. Beautiful peacefully surrendered. Thank goodness that I didn’t have to take down the pacifist man, he didn’t deserve being beaten up.
The ending felt...anticlimactic, but I think it’s a very proper way to end it. No other way to end it I think. Also I got the campfire cutscenes to the point where Cyclops wondered why nobody talked, I guess that means I have exhausted all the campfire dialogues? I hope there’s nothing that I missed.
Tumblr media
Overall, I like everything about this mod. I usually avoid fangames and fanmods in general unless they interest me (very few of them do), but Hopeful, and this mod, are very rare exceptions. It was a lot of fun, feels like I returned to three years ago when I was still in college playing LISA games (and almost made it as my undergraduate thesis subject even), and putting Hopeful characters in the original game’s setting was great. Thank you Calvin for making this mod!
(Also, I’m aware that there’s a Hart perspective game. Unfortunately I don’t care about the Lovelies or Hart enough to play it. I also think that Hopeful as a standalone game feels very completed already, but I’m kinda interested about the sequel too, so looking forward to it. But if the worst case happens, Hopeful is already very solid as a standalone game, so yeah.)

So! Tried an Archon (with two friends and a rando) yesterday, it was hell, got TPK'd after like 25 minutes of desperately trying to stay alive, all that jazz. Me being That Person who definitely absolutely didn't project on her extremely Naramon Tenno, I resolved to go wiki diving for hints before attempting that shit again. Thanks to you and Vik and the posts about damage attenuation, I researched that - including making a graph for myself from a different calculation that's actually on the wiki! - and what I found was...I have no fucking clue whether removing mods will help with Archons or not.
Math jargon incoming. I apologize.
The example graph I made (based on Orphix damage attenuation fwiw) showed that removing mods would not help in that specific instance, since the attenuated DPS did continuously increase with un-attenuated DPS despite significant diminishing returns, but every calculation listed on the wiki is different. Without exact numbers, which will take ages for the community to get since you can only fight these assholes once a week and I imagine you can't put them in Simulacrum to control circumstances better (at least, not without many weeks' worth of scans), it's impossible to tell whether or not the Archon-specific attenuation function is discontinuous in such a way that you can get lower attenuated DPS out of higher un-attenuated DPS.
I might make more graphs based on other attenuation functions on the wiki to see if there's any precedent for that kind of discontinuity if I have the time around stupid busy school schedule. If there isn't precedent, I have no idea what the actual fuck DE thinks they're doing because that's counterintuitive as well as borderline unfairly difficult
this is so insane.... you are literally stronger than every single us marine. godspeed soldier

Are we OPTIMIZING THE FUN OUT of MMOs
The article “Are we ‘optimizing the fun out’ of MMOs?“ in this video originally appeared at Massively OP at https://massivelyop.com/2024/03/07/massively-overthinking-are-we-optimizing-the-fun-out-of-mmos/
This article ties into what I’ve been talking about for the past week about “Is the MMORPG genre waiting to die?” I think that we are optimizing the fun out of MMOS and we’ve been doing it since the early 2000s. Deadly Boss Mods with World of Warcraft, the most optimal build/fit for ships in Eve Online, DPS meters in pretty much any game that supports them, are all things where we are trying to get the absolutely most efficient use of our time, but we are forgetting that we are playing these games to have fun. Even in Final Fantasy XIV where a PUG dungeon takes on average 14 to 17 minutes, players would sulk because they got matched with a Scholar / Paladin tank instead of a White Mage / Warrior tank because the DPS output was going to be slow much slower that they couldn’t endure the thought of spending 90 seconds more in a dungeon. For the record, no I’m not kidding, the difference was really about 90 seconds.
For years I was against the idea of grinding in MMORPGs. It was something we did in yesteryear because there was no other content to do. Now, as I’ve spent the last seven months thinking about video games and MMORPGs, I think the grind is what made us make friends with people. If I’m going to sit here for the next 3 hours grinding on mobs with this group of people, I might as well jump on voice comms with them. Some of my life long friendships in the MMORPG gaming space are from random times I’ve jumped in voice comms for a grind session. Then you’d get the guys who would totally flip out when they would discover an officer in their guild was “OMG A GIRL”.
I think what we continue to do is morph MMORPGs to lobby style instant match, instant gratification games. Someone earlier today said we need to call them MMOPW - Massive Multiple Online Persistent Worlds. Then we can have different sub-genres inside them, that differ between say lobby match making games (Destiny, Warframe) and Themepark vs Sandbox RPGs.
The idea of shaking up the Meta was also discussed, and that is almost a discussion all its own, one that I have talked about many times when it comes to balance, and how balance is done, and why balance is done, and so on. But the meta does need to be shaken up from time to time to keep the game fun.

[CR Campaign 2, Episode 39 -- The one with the Hydra Fight]
I've long been astonished when players in this group haven't understood game mechanics (it's 5e, for fuck's sake!), but this incident really took the cake: it's a testament to luck and party size that they didn't wipe, given how badly they fail to understand D&D combat.
PCs:
Fjord: pretentious* male Half-Orc Warlock (Hexblade); Str 11 Dex 11 Con 18 Int 14 Wis 7 Cha 18. Plays against stats by being the voice of reason (lowest Wis in party), alternates between melee (despite Str and AC) and range (despite Dex). *I mean, his name is pronounced "Ford" and he took levels in Warlock but then questions serving his patron.
Beau: sardonic Monk; de facto party tank because no one else but the frequently absent Yasha can fulfill the role.
Caleb: hobo Wizard; for third-level spells, prepared haste and slow (both require concentration) but not fireball before going into a dungeon.
Nott the Brave: "goblin" Rogue (Arcane Trickster). Bad at roguing: has to be reminded to search for traps. Player obviously prefers mages.
Jester: Warlock Cleric (Trickster domain); absurdly good stats -- no negatives or +0 mods. Hates healing. ("She was forced into it!" No, she wasn't: you can have more than one party member of the same class in a game [see Caduceus, Imogen & Laudna, Vex's eventual multiclassing], part of a DM's job is accommodating for roles not covered, and ultimately Laura chose the class and Jester chose the type of relationship.)
Caduceus: Cleric (Grave domain); created after player's last character died to be a primary healer because Jester is so bad at it. Would be the most competent character but player frequently forgets (or fails to notice) system quirks in selected spells.
Yasha: Fallen Aasimar Barbarian (the pseudo-pally subclass); de facto DPS despite being a tanking class because the player is absent so often (work-related) that she's barely had a chance to learn how her character works and everyone else kinda has to guess.
NPCs:
Captain Avantika: Some sort of magical elf swashbuckler/cultist. Can cast invisibility, states in preparatory conversation for this battle that she can cast it on other people (but not how many spell slots she has or what other spells she knows). Otherwise rapier & dagger fencer.
Jamedi Cosko Jumanji CostCo: quasi-undead dungeoneer, meaning "infiltrator with almost no combat ability" (like Lyk!).
Scenario:
Having breached the first two layers of a temple (converted from Avantika & Fjord's patron, Uk'otoa the Great Leviathan, to his creator, Zehir the Cloaked Serpent), the party finds a flight of stairs leading to a lower chamber with a pool of water in the middle. (The last time they fought in a temple with such a pool, it spawned more opponents. In this case, unbeknownst to them, there is a five-headed hydra lurking inside.) Inside is a lone Yuan-Ti Abomination equipped with a scimitar and a longbow, both put away; the Yuan-Ti seems to be either asleep or praying. Nearby is a spiffy-looking shield, which the party figures might need to be dealt with to make a favorable fight.
Various Glaring Mistakes
The party does not take advantage of Avantika's spells; they don't even bother asking her about them beyond what's mentioned above.
As stated, Yasha barely performs as a tank because she's being controlled by someone other than her player and she hasn't developed much in the way of tanking tactics yet. Fjord's player is controlling her; he had played a Barbarian in the last campaign, but has already forgotten how some of the mechanics work, so he makes bad calls with her from time to time.
Beau takes the brunt of damage from both enemies.
Nott and Jester fail at demoing their new move, "Fluffernutter" (firing an exploding bolt into a keg of gunpowder). This would have probably worked as fireball, but conceivably dealt structural damage.
Jester refuses to heal Beau, thinking she should take out the Yuan-Ti to lessen incoming damage. That is, the OG healer refuses to heal the tank because she thinks she needs to work as DPS.
She does this even when it's clear Beau will drop in the next turn if hits and damage go as they have been. That is, healer refuses to prevent tank's imminent death (and ensuing party route/wipe) because she's hung up on DPSing.
When the fight begins, Fjord casts hunger of Hadar, which is an AoE that combines a lesser form of Evard's Black Tentacles (difficult terrain, damage to creatures beginning or ending their turn in the area;¹ does not restrain, as EBT does) with darkness. That's despite there only being one opponent at the time. As such, Fjord renders roughly half of the room unusable: people can't see well enough to hit into it, they have no way of keeping opponents inside of it, and they certainly don't want to wind up inside.
Fjord maintains concentration on this spell well beyond the point at which it becomes clear the spell is interfering with everyone's tactics.
Caleb drops haste to cast slow. Since they're concentration effects (meaning you can only have one up at a time) and both use the same level spell slot, there was absolutely no reason why Caleb should have prepared both. For the sake of conserving spell slots, Caleb shouldn't have dropped the spell. (This is only half a mistake: slow is such a good effect and it stopped the hydra from getting all of its attacks in that it was a tactically sound decision.)
The hydra eventually saves against slow; Caleb tries casting it again, leading to a brief argument (Him: "I don't care about the Yuan-Ti! My logic is going by what you rolled!" Matt: "There would be no benefit not also casting on the Yuan-Ti, since you're dropping concentration!" Me: "You're both wrong: he should specify which creature he's focusing on, you should explain the tactics, he'll agree but insist on rolling for the hydra first, and you reroll.")
The recast itself was a mistake: though it was done before Beau dropped and would have continued to aid against the hydra's multiple heads, by that point it was clear that cauterizing heads was more important and Caleb is the only person in the party with fire spells.
The only reasons the hydra died in the end are because its regeneration is tied to regrowing heads (not just regenerating per turn) and because everyone (DM included) largely ignored/forgot about the presence of Yasha (character) because her player was absent.
How This Could Have Gone:
Either Caduceus uses his racial ability to turn invisible to grab the shield and remove it from the room before combat begins or Avantika casts invisibility on either Jumanji or Nott to do the same. Tactically, it would be best for her to do it on Nott, but not necessary.
Avantika goes invisible; she and Nott sneak into the chamber, positioning themselves and wait.
Yasha and Beau prepare to charge.
On a signal, Nott sneak attacks off of the initiative count, initiating combat.
Yasha and Beau charge.
Avantika gets into flanking position with either Yasha or Beau and attacks.
Caleb, Fjord, and Nott send off ranged attacks (eldritch blast, hand crossbow, and whatever cantrip Caleb wants). Nott gets sneak attack again (it being a new round).
Caduceus and Jester stand ready to heal either Beau or Yasha (primary concern) or anyone who falls (secondary). If healing is unnecessary, attack using cantrips only.
A Yuan-Ti Abomination has 127 HP and an AC of 15. Presuming average rolls and all attacks used, Nott will hit three times for 31 damage, Beau will hit four times for 34 damage, Avantika will at minimum do 14 damage (no clue on her Dex bonus to damage or whether or not she'd use her weapon enchantments), and Yasha would deal at least 24 points of damage (not counting her Strength, which I don't know off-hand). Given that this is missing two character's bonus damage from ability scores and the damage four other characters would deal, it is more than likely that the Abomination would drop in a single round (it would still get a turn unless it were unlucky with initiative).
Cue the hydra.
Fjord casts hex on the hydra and moves into melee with it; Avantika, Beau, and Yasha take corners, so all meleeists get flanking.
Caleb casts slow and then scorching ray (either slotted or from glove).
At this point, cauterizing takes precedence: Caduceus, Caleb, Jester, and Nott try to cauterize severed necks with whatever fires they have at hand (firebolt or torches). Caduceus, Jester, and Nott otherwise continue using basic tactics.
Caleb concentrates entirely on cauterizing. If the hydra breaks out of slow, he'll only recast it if it's not about to regenerate heads. If down to two heads, Caleb won't recast it at all.
If all else fails, Nott places the keg near the hydra, the party flees the room, and either Nott fires her bolt or Caleb casts firebolt at it from the staircase, giving us Fluffernutter anyway.
Not perfect, but reasonable.

3 Methods Download Minecraft Will Allow You To Get Extra Business
You can comply with these directions and swap out the default Vanilla Minecraft jar with a Forge, Spigot, or Feed The Beast jar if you want to customize your Minecraft Server expertise with mods and plugins! If you’re a fan of unique merchandise mods, then you’ll agree with me once i say the Armor Motion Mod is one of the best Minecraft mods of all time. Minecraft The most effective Mods Ever! If you’re on the lookout for different video games to fill with your creations, check out our listing of the perfect crafting games on Pc. Games Another option is the Bedrock devoted server software program that Mojang has put out. Whenever you finishing the install of a Minecraft multiplayer server on your local Pc as an alternative of internet hosting it wth a cloud server supplier, it's good to open up entry to your native Pc to the web through port forwarding. Server lag can come from many elements such as mods or plugins on the server, entity errors, and even some bugs that can appear in Minecraft sometimes. Whether or not you purchased a server from us or are working regionally on your laptop you will have to achieve access to the filesystem that the server is operating from.
If you’re a follower of this weblog, you already know we are additionally massive followers of the numerous instructional advantages of Minecraft. Hardcore Minecraft will get even tougher with this mod, and I’m all up for it. 1. Turn on Multiplayer to let a member play Minecraft with others online, even when their account settings block them from multiplayer options. Don't ask how a shark is ready to type or play the sport; simply realize that the rogue who is not going to look forward to the tank or the healer and even the other DPS cannot avoid doing what he does. The instructions for establishing Minecraft Server port forwarding will differ based on the type of router you use. The Bedrock version also has Minecraft Realms. Presently on Home windows 10 Cellular but nonetheless enjoying the Home windows eight edition of Minecraft? You are unable to download minecraft without spending a dime until you obtain it by pirating it which may be illegal in your country. However, these are early in improvement and could also be shut down at any time. I used to be in the loop for continuity questions throughout, but by the end the questions had been getting so detailed that I used to be monitoring down original level designers in Austin, who themselves did not know the answers.
It is right here where people can scroll down to search out the server software program they should obtain. If you are utilizing a server that implements plugins it would be best to create a plugins folder. If players don't wish to host the server domestically, nonetheless, there are plenty of other hosting choices. From there, the host can launch the .jar file after which tweak the server properties nonetheless they see match to start out playing. The .jar file that's downloaded shall be the applying that runs the server. Question: I downloaded and tried to run your program, but has highlighted some error related to Java, what to do? Minecraft Java may be downloaded from the sport's website, and it runs on Java, which comes installed with it, whereas Minecraft Bedrock might be downloaded from the MS Store. To start, make sure that Java and Minecraft are both fully up to date on the device. There are lots of MMOs out there which are aimed at a young viewers, but I think the trade generally holds back and opts to make a game that is protected. Early access is one other point of contention within the group because really it is the studio pitting its kids against one another out of sheer boredom.
Hosts might want to then discover ways to port forward to ensure that others to access the server. This may basically be a folder that incorporates all of the files that the server is loading each time it runs, and where it saves all the configuration files. You'll use a FTP Client, we recommend FileZilla Client, to connect to your server and entry the information. While you run the server it can execute all the jar files and create all the information and folders needed for each of the parts to work. As soon as connected you will notice a jar folder where the primary server jar will probably be positioned. Place every plugin jar you need to make use of inside of this folder. Those who wish to play Minecraft multiplayer on Home windows 10 or console versions even have a few options. These worlds only run as long because the host is actively enjoying on the server, which may be a problem for buddies who need to hop on when the host cannot. Once this is finished, all the host will need to do is find their IP tackle, which may be found by simply looking out "external IP deal with" on a search engine.

Eight Ways Download Minecraft Will Assist You Get Extra Business
You possibly can comply with these instructions and swap out the default Vanilla Minecraft jar with a Forge, Spigot, or Feed The Beast jar if you want to customise your Minecraft Server experience with mods and plugins! If you’re a fan of unique item mods, then you’ll agree with me when i say the Armor Motion Mod is likely one of the best Minecraft mods of all time. Minecraft The most effective Mods Ever! If you’re looking for other games to fill along with your creations, take a look at our listing of the most effective crafting video games on Laptop. Another choice is the Bedrock dedicated server software that Mojang has put out. While you completing the set up of a Minecraft multiplayer server on your native Pc as a substitute of hosting it wth a cloud server supplier, you might want to open up access to your local Laptop to the internet by port forwarding. Server lag can come from many elements akin to mods or plugins on the server, entity errors, and even some bugs that can appear in Minecraft occasionally. Whether you purchased a server from us or are working domestically on your computer you will have to realize access to the filesystem that the server is working from.
If you’re a follower of this weblog, you understand we're also big fans of the numerous academic benefits of Minecraft. Hardcore Minecraft gets even tougher with this mod, and I’m all up for it. 1. Activate Multiplayer to let a member play Minecraft with others online, even when their account settings block them from multiplayer features. Don't ask how a shark is ready to type or play the sport; just understand that the rogue who is not going to look forward to the tank or the healer or even the other DPS cannot keep away from doing what he does. The instructions for setting up Minecraft Server port forwarding will fluctuate based mostly on the kind of router you employ. The Bedrock edition additionally has Minecraft Realms. Presently on Windows 10 Mobile but nonetheless enjoying the Windows 8 version of Minecraft? You are unable to download minecraft free of charge except you obtain it by pirating it which could also be unlawful in your country. However, these are early in growth and may be shut down at any time. I used to be in the loop for continuity questions throughout, but by the end the questions had been getting so detailed that I used to be tracking down authentic degree designers in Austin, who themselves didn't know the solutions.
It's right here the place individuals can scroll down to seek out the server software they should obtain. In case you are utilizing a server that implements plugins it would be best to create a plugins folder. If players don't want to host the server regionally, however, there are many other internet hosting choices. From there, the host can launch the .jar file and then tweak the server properties however they see fit to start playing. The .jar file that's downloaded can be the applying that runs the server. SWISSROCKETMAN Query: I downloaded and tried to run your program, but has highlighted some error associated to Java, what to do? Minecraft Java may be downloaded from the game's website, and it runs on Java, which comes put in with it, whereas Minecraft Bedrock can be downloaded from the MS Store. To start, make sure that Java and Minecraft are each totally updated on the device. There are a whole lot of MMOs on the market which might be aimed at a younger audience, but I think the business typically holds again and opts to make a game that is protected. Early access is another point of contention within the community because actually it is the studio pitting its youngsters in opposition to one another out of sheer boredom.
Hosts might want to then learn to port ahead in order for others to access the server. This may mainly be a folder that contains all of the files that the server is loading every time it runs, and where it saves all of the configuration files. You'll use a FTP Client, we suggest FileZilla Shopper, to connect to your server and entry the recordsdata. Whenever you run the server it would execute all of the jar files and create the entire recordsdata and folders needed for each of the elements to work. Once connected you will note a jar folder where the principle server jar might be placed. Place each plugin jar you want to make use of inside of this folder. Those that want to play Minecraft multiplayer on Home windows 10 or console versions even have a few options. These worlds solely run as long because the host is actively taking part in on the server, which could also be an issue for buddies who need to hop on when the host cannot. Once this is completed, all the host might want to do is find their IP handle, which can be found by just searching "external IP address" on a search engine.

my year of fic (2020)
I had a lapse in doing this, because the end of 2019 was just---a haze---but I thought it might be fun to try again on this, my first day off of 2021. Ignoring for a moment the armed sedition and the pandemic and the general feeling like the world’s about to spin upside down, I think it might be a good day. Let me try to feel some joy in writing, so that I might do some more writing this weekend. There’s a chance!
Per the AO3 stats tracker:
Total words written in 2020: 278,664 (Compared to 2019: 201,375 -- definite improvement!) That brings the overall AO3 published total to: 1,160,723. Jesus. I need another hobby, haha.
I’ll try to collect a year masterlist below, but let’s see what happened with stats first.
fic with most hits, which is not the same thing as best: no disguising truths i’ve sold -- y’all are fiends for the dadsex, just admit it. It always gives me a giggle how many hits these ones have with so few people actually interacting. :)
fic with most kudos, which I guess means people admitted they liked it: there will be better days -- which I guess isn’t a surprise, written when it was, but it’s still super gratifying to see that people enjoyed it. This one takes top spot for most of the other categories, too, so I’m going to go for the 2nd-placers on the next few...
fic with (2nd-)most comment threads, which I guess means people wanted to chat about it: In a Cursed Hour, which is a pleasant surprise! This is the very long gen (with sneaky pining!Dean), the first part of which was technically finished this year. I hope I come back to it at some point, because the story is... great, haha. Just super hard to write. Gratifying that people wanted to talk about it!
fic with (2nd-)most bookmarks, which I guess means people want to read it again: see things so much clearer -- aw, now that’s a nice surprise! This kinda felt like channeling old-school weecest, in some ways, so it’s cool that people seem to have enjoyed it.
fic with (2nd)-most subscriptions, which I guess means people are hoping for more: welcome to capitalism -- another nice surprise! I almost forgot about this one: a little ruthless, a little kind. Logical choices in a world that sucks, kind of my favorite genre, haha.
longest fic: what comes after certainty -- ow, ow. This is a---strange one---started in 2019 before the haze, published finally in a bit of ignominy, still not read by the recipient I’m pretty sure because it’s fucking depressing, haha. But I’m kinda proud of it, or at least proud of myself for finishing it, so I guess it’s good that I spent this many words on it.
least popular fic, if we’re going by kudos: transference -- lol, that makes sense -- Umbrella Academy momcest? That said tho, it’s kinda fun and you should read it. Diego’s just the biggest mommy’s boy. Ahem.
The best thing writing-wise about this year was stretching into stuff I wouldn’t normally write, thanks to the charity drives. Maybe I’ll try to do that again this year; I’m sure something horrific will happen that will need some monetary support.
In the meantime, here are all of the fics I wrote this year, in order that they were written. Probably Sam/Dean unless otherwise specified. Imagine retrospective montage music:

#21 Days of Nathan - A Recap Pt 2 Days 11-21
Apparently there was just too much on the other post, so here we go with post #2!
Day 11: One word to describe Nathan
My one word to describe Nathan is "Ebullient" -- meaning cheerful and full of energy. There's also an archaic meaning of boiling or agitated as if boiling. I feel in both watching Nathan's performances and in the few times I've had the opportunity to meet him in person this word is fitting. In person, he is a boundless energy and pure serotonin. Just a genuinely delightful and kind human who CANNOT SIT STILL FOR 5 SECONDS. But that same frenetic energy is contained, if only just barely, in so many of his performances... most especially Jack. You can tell there is something boiling just beneath the surface and it's utterly fascinating to watch.

Day 12: Play I’d like to see Nathan in
Really the answer is "anything". He has great range. But I think he'd give the appropriate gravitas and hilarity to the role of Septimus Hodge in Tom Stoppard's "Arcadia".  He might be a little on the mature side, but he could probably pull it off. Arcadia takes place both in 1809/1812 and the present day with the activities of the modern overlaid on the action of the past. We gradually learn the fates of the past protagonists as the modern actors learn them in the present. It's a very interesting play exploring the nature of evidence and modern theories of history maths, and physics. It brings together themes of romanticism and empiricism, logic and love, sex and sensibility. I think it would be a fantastic role for Nathan and he would knock it out of the park.
Tumblr media
Day 13: Favorite picture of Nathan Page from a public event
Event was originally supposed to be the cast and crew preview, part 2 for all the folks who bought that level of movie support, but who couldn't get away for (US) Thanksgiving weekend to the other side of the planet with three week's notice. I like it because I'm photobombing it 🤣 Not only that, it was just such a fun day. @skirtswithpocketsplease is always the right person to stand near in a crowd, fyi. @lechatnoir1918 can also be spotted in this great shot of Mary and Nathan (and bombastic me... and someone's very supportive husband just behind us) from @themissfisherphiles. So hard to believe it's been just over a year!
Tumblr media
Day 14: Actor you’d like Nathan to work with
This is another one of those "anyone" answers... However, I would really love to have Nathan and Claudia Black (of Farscape, Stargate) work together. It's probably part of my  Tony Tilse love, or maybe just that I could listen to these two talk for hours on end and it wouldn't even matter what they said. They both have amazing voices in addition to formidable acting talent.
Tumblr media
Week 3 below the fold
Day 15: Favorite Behind the Scenes moment
This video was shot by Essie Davis’s dresser for series 1&3 Peter O'Halloran. Essie and Nathan are just so delightfully playful together, even when they're supposed to be Jedi-serious. I adore them 💓

Day 16: TV Show you’d like to see Nathan Page on
I choose Ms. Fisher’s Modern Murder Mysteries. I'd love to have silver fox Jack Robinson come wandering back into his house to find, not the Miss Fisher he expects, but Miss Fisher the younger. He's been on his own long term mission and didn't know Phryne had gone missing... or maybe has been with her and neither realized the world thinks her dead-again. Either way, bring me silver fox Jack in mid-century Mod to drive the nail in Sparrow's coffin.
Tumblr media
Day 17: Fav Miss Fisher and the Crypt of Tears moment
There were a lot of moments I really loved, but I think this was the moment that Essie and Nathan really made me swoon. Methinks the Inspector doth protest too much. No. No. No. No.
youtube
Day 18: Favorite Jack Photo
This lovely shot of Nathan probably needs to be credited to DP Roger Lanser since it's a Screen-cap directly from the Kate Dennis directed episode S1E3 The Green Mill Murder. Other crew are certainly to be credited as well, but Roger... man. Roger just has that eye for good light.
Tumblr media
Day 19: Question I’d like to ask Nathan, given the opportunity
I've been lucky enough to have a very casual conversation with Nathan and I didn't really have any burning questions to ask him. We just talked about life and kids and the fires that were raging in Australia, and Lola. Mostly Lola. And how he wants to do more bicycle stunts. I guess after all this lockdown what my wing clipped wandedlusting self wants to know is, where have you always wanted to ride but haven't yet?
Tumblr media
Day 20: All-time favorite photo of Nathan Page
This is from the 2016 Logies when Essie Davis had been nominated for a Golden Logie and brought Nathan Page along for the ride. All of the photos were wonderful. It was the first time we'd seen them together since Phryne flew away... and it was clear these too truly were friends. Truly just enjoying each other's company. This one is my favorite because of the sweetness of it. Essie looks a touch nervous. Nathan is full of pride for his friend. Beautiful.
Tumblr media
Day 21: Best Cycling Moment
Really it was hard to choose. I love the koala 🐨 and all of the stuff with Lola 🐕 It's really fun to get to go barreling down the hills of rural South Australia 🇦🇺 whilst sitting behind my home office desk. It sparks that sense of adventure that seems to have faded to a mere ember in last year of lockdowns and loss. But--with all of those already cataloged elsewhere in this list, I had to go with this image of pure #couplegoals from shortly after the move to Adelaide. It came from the 18 April 2018 edition of "The Advertiser," (hand delivered to me by a certain delightful person who shall remain @geenee27) at #missfishercon 2018 in Portland, OR.
Tumblr media
I wasn't sure I could manage to get through all 21 days, but it was really fun to do! Thank you, @izzyandlouie for organizing it! Thank you, Nathan Page for being so generous with your time and care. Thank you to Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries and Every Cloud Productions for introducing the world to our favorite dapper detective. Thank you @adventuressclubamericas for organizing the North American fans and making us a force. Also, also... since 21 days of Nathan is done, check out @adventuressesclubamericas for #Miss Fisher March Madness if you haven't already!

How to Play as Cyborg in DnD 5e
Tumblr media
Next up in our Teen Titans marathon of builds, we’ll build Victor Stone, better known as Cyborg. I sure thought this was going to be a much simpler build, yet I’ve spent two days working and reworking it, and it ended up being nothing like I initially assumed. But in the end, I’m positive this was for the better, as it turned out much better than I expected.
Tumblr media
Our first instinct is probably to make Cyborg a Warforged, but here’s the problem with that: Cyborg was born human. He needs to eat, sleep, breathe, these are all things Warforged don’t do. And Cyborg has multiple episodes fixated on maintaining his humanity. To not make him a human is to completely miss the point of his character. Obviously, he is no longer a Standard Human. He has changed. We’ll call him a Variant Human, and we’ll give him Heavy Armor Mastery to reduce non-magical melee damage by 3. We’ll give him +1 INT/+1 CON and he’ll get +1 STR from his free feat.
Mythic Odysseys of Theros gave us the Athlete background. You get proficiency with Athletics and Acrobatics. Next, we’ll pick two Fighter skills, we’ll go for Intimidation and Perception. You’re a big tough guy, and there’s probably a radar or GPS somewhere in all that machinery.
We’re largely a team player, but on more than one occasion we’ve left the team to try and become a solo hero or lead another team. I’d say we’re Chaotic Good.
Tumblr media
FIGHTER Brute
We’ll kick off our Cyborg Build as a Fighter. Don’t worry, we’ll be multi-classing, but starting as a Fighter starts us off with Heavy Armor proficiency, which is nice. Plus, we were a human athlete long before we ever became part robot. The Brute Fighter adds 1d4 to every damage roll, meaning you really pack a whollap. It’s almost as if you’ve got brass knuckles or something. Speaking of knuckles, Cyborg likes to punch things, so we’ll pick Unarmed Combat from the Fighting Style options. We deal 1d8 + STR bludgeoning damage when punching with two hands, or 1d6 + STR when our other hand is busy holding something. At 7th level, we get to add 1d6 to saving throws, and if that puts the roll above 20, it’s treated as rolling a nat 20. At 10th level, the extra 1d4 damage increases to 1d6. At 15th level, when you land a crit, you add your Brute Fighter Level to the damage roll, meaning you’re putting out 2d8+5+1d6+15 (23-42) with two hands, or 3d6+20 (23-38) when you’re one-handed. That’s a whole lot of ouch. The next level up is even better, since at level 16, your extra 1d6 damage becomes 1d8. Meaning that by level 16, you’re dealing 3d8+21 (24-45) damage on a two-handed crit, or 2d6+1d8+21 (24-41) on a one-handed crit. And with three actions per turn, the odds of landing all that ouch are pretty high. If you’re allergic to UA subclasses, Champion also works, just not as well.
Tumblr media
ARTIFICER Artillerist
Once you’ve started as a Fighter, we can hop on over to Artificer and choose the Artillerist. This gives us an Eldritch Cannon, which we’ll make Tiny so we can hold it in our right hand. We’ll be primarily using the Force Ballista, which has a range of 120 feet, deals 2d8 force damage, and pushes objects 5 feet away from the cannon. If you really want to focus on the cannon, it’ll increase to 3d8 at 9th level, but Cyborg is supposed to be the Tank/DPS of the party. Firing from long range is Starfire’s specialty. Instead, it’s better to have more levels of Fighter and hit more often, and just have the Artificer as much as necessary for ranged combat. But don’t fret, because that Cannon is going to get a lot of usage, because it can be fired on every bonus action, which as a Fighter means you’re going to be dishing out a ton of pain. You can be one-arm boxing an enemy within melee range, while sniping another enemy clear on the other side of the battlefield, and with 3 attacks per turn in the late game, Cyborg has the option to be dishing out 4 attacks total per turn. There’s a reason he’s the muscle of the team.
Tumblr media
CYBORG’S SPELLS
Cantrips Mending Message (Titan Communicators)
1st Level Grease Longstrider Jump Shield Thunderwave
To be fair, if we’re going to use our spell slots for anything, its building another Eldritch Cannon if the first one is destroyed. Plus, everything Cyborg could do at first level, Raven can do better, and she has a lot more spell slots to put to it.
Tumblr media
ARTIFICER INFUSIONS
Due to our low level, we only get 4 infusions. Now some specify having weapons, but we chose Unarmed Combat. Me personally, I take that as meaning our hands are our weapons, but check with your DM how they consider it, because there’s also a lot of fighter features that only trigger with a weapon attack, so don’t use this build if your DM is stingy about Unarmed Combat not counting as a Weapon attack, because otherwise a lot of your features aren’t going to trigger.
ARMOR OF TOOLS Integrate Tinkerer’s Tools into your armor, add your INT mod to tool checks made with those Tinkerer’s tools.
ENHANCED DEFENSE Increase your AC by +1.
MIND SHARPENER If you fail a spell concentration saving throw, use a reaction to pass instead.
REPLICATE MAGIC ITEM: GOGGLES OF NIGHT Cyborg can create Goggles of Night, letting him see in the dark.
If your DM lets you treat your Hands as weapons drop Mind Shapener and pick up Enhanced Weapon.
ENHANCED WEAPON Add +1 to weapon attack rolls and damage rolls.
Tumblr media
ARMORY
Cyborg needs Heavy Armor to act as his robotic body. Molten Bronze Skin (Plate) from Mythic Odysseys of Theros is a new rare heavy armor that is skin-fitting and can be worn under clothes and doesn’t impose stealth disadvantage, which is important, because Cyborg has never made so much noise that he gave away his party. Because it’s molded to his body, it can’t be removed unless he chooses to doff it. Thus,  we have a human who is basically made of metal. How bout that?
Tumblr media
As the Tank of the party, only three stats really matter to Cyborg’s Build: Strength will determine how much damage he deals with his punches, Constitution will ensure that he has a big pool of health so he doesn’t die all the time like a wimp, and Intelligence because his Eldritch Cannon’s accuracy is aimed like casting a spell. Because he’s heavily armored, his Dexterity won’t affect his AC, and to be fair, Cyborg isn’t very nimble. He seems quite bulky and heavy-footed. All those Fighter ASI give us the kind of stats I’d hoped to give Starfire.
STR 20 DEX 10 CON 20 INT 18 WIS 10 CHA 8
I spent one of his too many ASI to give him Tough to further maximize his HP. You could max out his INT, but as Raven is the party Intelligence caster, it’s valid to want her INT to be higher than Cyborg’s. With a final HP score of 260 and an AC of 19, Cyborg is starting to look a bit like a one-man army. Not only that, but he reduces non-magical melee damage by 3, and adds 1d6 to saving throws, meaning ranged spell attacks are the only great way to hurt him without him possibly reducing the damage.
Tumblr media
HAVE A HEART, TIN-MAN Brute Fighter (16) Artillerist Artificer (4)
STR 20 DEX 10 CON 20 INT 18 WIS 10 CHA 8
ARTIFICER INFUSIONS Armor of Tools Enhanced Armor Enhanced Weapon/Mind Sharpener Replicate Magic Item: Goggles of Night
Between the super charged melee damage, and the fact that Cyborg can also fire his Eldritch Cannon as much as he wants makes this a great combination. He doesn’t need spell slots just to shoot it like some other casters, making it a truly great dual-wielding option. He’s got the HP to shrug off damage, and the power to decimate his opponents. He becomes weaker when he pulls out his cannon in terms of melee combat, but it’s twice as powerful as his two-handed boxing, so it’s a good trade-off.
Tumblr media
Variant Rule: Mythic Odysseys of Theros
Unscarred. As a reaction, reduce damage taken by 1d12 + CON mod once per long rest.
Piety: Purphoros, God of the Forge
+3 Cast Shield of Faith equal to your INT mod per long rest. +10 Cast Heat Metal once per long rest. You have advantage against being knocked prone. +25 Use your reaction to avoid being pushed. +50 Increase your Strength or Intelligence by 2 to a maximum of 22.
Tumblr media
We set out to make Cyborg a high damage DPS striker who could tank a hit like it was nothing, and I think we’ve accomplished that with this build. Some might argue for a 12/8 split, and it’s certainly passable, but Cyborg really doesn’t need it. He’s not a caster. Cyborg is the muscle, and that’s what he’s doing. He’s only an Artificer for the arm cannon, otherwise, he’s primarily a melee fighter, and I don’t want to waste his levels on something that’s not his primary focus.

>onslaught | I mean at least you didn't say Conquest or whatever the midline battleship is. I don't understand why everybody jacks off over that ship.
At LEAST? Are you implying it's BAD? SIT YOUR ASS DOWN SON WE GOAN HAVE A CHAT
Every time I see someone bitch about that ship, EVERY TIME, it's about its flux stats, because they miss the part where it's only supposed to raise shields to stop high-damage HE (so basically anyone carrying a Hellbore) or a Reaper torpedo. More recently I saw someone make excuses for the literal "three offensive guns, the rest PD" by whining about flux capacity for sustained fire. Yes. Yes, because it's the same damage-per-flux ratio either way, given the same guns, but they'd rather be able to apply constant pressure, which only makes one ship back off to vent while its buddies move in to block for it and shoot you themselves. Instead of, you know, putting out enough firepower to actually overwhelm a target which is greatly aided by the big-ass pulse cannons on the front.
And that's all true of the Onslaught before the latest update dropped, too, which gave it direct and indirect buffs which, in fairness, it did deserve. It was good before, but now it's great, the equal of any high-tech ship. The biggest upgrade was getting Heavy Ballistics integration, which REALLY helped the Onslaught as it's a hull that works best with a particular hullmod package and was a bit OP starved to start with. The pulse cannons got a flux efficiency boost, which really helps since the Onslaught likes to burn-drive in and dump those into a big target for an initial burst of damage for low flux cost. It had one nerf; more reasonable arcs for the side-facing large ballistic turrets, but that is completely negated by the reduction of the Heavy Armor hullmod's agility bonus from its previous 25% to a mere 10%, and the hullmod's armor bonus was increased as well. Even without considering built-in hullmods (referred to as "s-mods" now since you use story points to add them) the Onslaught really kicks ass now.
Tumblr media
This is how I tend to fit it - three Hephaestus Assault Guns for the large slots and autocannons in the mediums. (Note this screenshot is from v.91, a newer one would have even more goodies even without s-mods.) Swapping the central forward dual flak for two single flaks on the left and right and a medium autocannon in the center is also good, as the single dual flak can be a bit limited in reach for attacks coming in at an angle.
Both the autocannons and the HAG are decently efficient flux-wise and also have good DPS; the HAG especially is the DPS king. They pay for it in accuracy: this build doubles in firepower against cruiser-sized and smaller ships once you get the skill that reduces recoil; (elite gunnery implants now IIRC). With that skill this thing is a monster.
The challenge with any combat in Starsector is flux management, but especially so for this Onslaught, because despite being flux-efficient the DPS is so high that it can max out the flux bar fairly quickly, leaving you unable to raise shields if some bombers dump a scad of torpedoes in your direction. I set my guns to groups by class - autocannons on one, HAGs on the other. In retrospect when I get one in my current playthrough; now that we have more weapon groups to work with, I might break it down by broadside as well, one group for the three HAGs and two for the autocannons on left and right. That lets one carefully manage which guns are firing when; you can pulse your autocannons on and off to punish clowns why to raise shields as soon as your kinetics go quiet. You don't necessarily have to though; the HAG's description about "raw damage output being able to overwhelm some smaller shield emitters" isn't bullshit. The Onslaught isn't really a "broadsides ship," it's more of a front-quarter broadsides ship with anyone who tries to get right in front of you to avoid it eating pulse cannons for their trouble.
The key to the Onslaught - or at least my Onslaught - is applying that pure DPS supremecy. By the time your soft flux is a problem, your target should have serious hard flux problems and be backing off to vent, at worst. As is often true in Starsector, the hard part in big fights, esp. outnumbered, is confirming your kill once you've fluxed out the target; before his buddies can come cover for him and he slips away to vent. This is where missiles come in to play, and an example of why the new OP dividend from Heavy Ballistics makes this ship shine now - adding Expanded Missile Racks is very doable. I'm usually a Sabot SRM Supremacy guy; I'd use those for initial burst overload of a target, hammer the hell out of them, and then when they recovered, raised shields and tried to retreat I'd unload the pulse cannons into them to secure the kill. When 0.95 initially dropped we had insane enemy officer spam problems and they typically had at least a few of the new tank skills, which made them incredibly hard to kill. That's when I started trying Harpoon missiles again; I'd never been much impressed with them before, but I've come to respect them. Nothing, nothing, nothing confirms a kill like Harpoons; they're long-ranged and fast and with Heavy Ballistics Integration (to say nothing of S-Mods) fitting four Harpoon pods onto an Onslaught is very doable (though two works fine.) If you want to burn drive in blazing away with your pulse cannons like Abdul charging on his Toyota, that's your initial burst damage; put Harpoons in the missile slots and use those to polish off those clowns trying to give you the slip.
The other key to flying DPS Onslaught is what you do after you've murderized that first clown - when all his buddies and escorts come after you from all sides and you're high on flux. This is when you start managing your fire; I typically turn off the HAGs and pulse the autocannons on and off to give the usual horde of smaller ships hard flux concerns on their shields, and god help them if they drop shields and I get to turn the HAGs loose on them. Once that armor is gone it stays gone, except unlike your Onslaught, they don't have nearly as much of it to start with. The armor comes off them easy under HAG fire and after that you needn't bother with the HAGs; the autocannons will hit hull hard enough to obligate them to raise shields and, naturally, take hard flux. Your maneuverability is horrible, but since your guns cover both broadsides it doesn't really matter. The real challenge here is if you've got hostiles on both sides so all your autocannons open up when you turn on the group, sometimes you'll want this but if you've got an actual threat to starboard and a single Kite without torpedoes to port, well, not so much. That's where facing-specific weapon groups come into play. Pulsing your groups also helps with the recoil; putting more shots onto smaller targets and improving flux/damage ratio accordingly. You have the DPS to beat these clowns off like a man laying about him with a big stick, you just have to use it right.
If all of this is too much work for you, well, go get a Paragon kid, nobody will notice the training wheels. Git gud scrub etc. In truth tho I think that describes most of the divide on the Onslaught. I adjusted the game combat speed to be half of what it usually was when I first started playing. These days I'm up to 80% of normal combat speed, but I still find the normal speed to be too insanely fast to handle shield micro and even weapon group switching. And yet, I know other people who complain that Starsector's combat is too slow. Depending on how you want to play, certain ships will work fine and certain ships (or builds of ships) just won't. Which is fine.
The Onslaught is a good ship; but it is definitely not a "turn off brain, turn on pew, watch fireworks" ship.

I’m on Act 3 of DA2 so I’m starting to think about my next Inquisitor!
After reading the Wiki pages on the different origins, I’m 90% settled on a Trevelyan mage. They were in the Ostwick circle but were part of the mage underground. They worked in the administrative section of the circle (I imagine they’re a little older, late 20s) and did what they could, including taking some big risks, to help mages in the Free Marches. They helped people get transferred from the Gallows to Ostwick, falsified records to help people escape, and pushed for Ostwick to endorse Anders’ actions in Kirkwall and side with the mages in the war. When that didn’t work, they used their family’s connections to go to the Conclave, hoping to lend their voice to mage liberation.
The last big decision for them is love interest and gender. I can’t decide! The main ones I’m considering are Blackwall and Dorian, and because they’re both gender-locked I can’t just wait and see which one vibes best with my Inquisitor.
So! Couple questions about romances, and a couple about Trevelyan in general:
Is Dorian as bad about slavery and elves as I’ve heard? Is there a way to call him out on it, and does he respond well? I love his character otherwise (he was one of my Cadash’s best friends), but it’s been so long since I actually played through his character arc, I can’t remember.
I found Blackwall kinda boring as a friend/companion... Is there more to him with a romance?
What’s Blackwall’s stance on mages/templars/the Chantry? I can’t recall.
Are there DLC-compatible Blackwall mods that give him a better beard? I don’t hate it, but...
Is there anything that makes it implausible that one of Trevelyan’s parents was an elf? Or maybe of a different human ethnicity? I kinda want to make them half-Avvar, or maybe half-Rivaini. Something other than another white human Fereldan/Marcher, who has a specific link to another in-game culture.
Mechanics-wise, what’s the most fun spell schools to focus on? Marian was DPS/AoE-focused, and Dael was support/healer, so I might like to try more of a debuff-oriented mage this time around. Or maybe a melee mage? Which specialization is best for an arcane warrior feel?
(Please don’t suggest other romance options; I have various reasons to rule them out for this playthrough, and Josephine specifically is the one I did last time so I want to change it up)

While I’m thinking about it, some math and thoughts about General Liu.
Liu is effectively a DPS doll without a skill cooldown. Her base stats are excellent for this - 139 FP and 40 ROF are well above average by early GFL standards are still hold up well in modern content, and she’s more than accurate enough for her main damage to be reliable even at night.
The active component of her skill shifts her stats around a little depending on her focus; rear-focus gives her effective stats of 36 RoF, 166-ish FP, while vanguard focus gives her only 125 FP but a very impressive 48 RoF. Neither of these statlines are really all that good on their face, though. Liu’s real damage potential comes from the passive component of her skill, which spawns in a number of reinforcements behind the echelon that have a shadow of Liu’s own stats.
At max level, Liu’s passive skill summons 9 additional dummy links, each of which have 35% of her FP, 60% of her RoF, and 40% of her accuracy. The loss of accuracy is actually very painful for her, but we’ll talk about that later; for now I just want to focus on her actual damage potential.
Based on some KR footage I found, Liu’s reinforcements take about 4 seconds to arrive and begin shooting, so she effectively has a 4-second initial cooldown but infinite uptime. We can try to compare her damage ability to other RFs we’re more familiar with by figuring out what “percentage” of Liu’s own innate damage her reinforcements are capable of dealing. So -- if Liu herself has 166 FP and 36 RoF, at 5x dummy links she deals 830 damage per volley with 0.72 volleys per second, for an effective DPS rating of 597 - just barely shy of 600 damage per second.
(Liu does way more damage than this in practice - this isn’t accounting for fairies/formation buffs or critical damage. But because her reinforcements also receive these benefits and scale exactly identically with Liu herself, ignoring them makes the math simpler.)
Each of Liu’s reinforcement dummies deals 35% of her FP (58) and fires with 60% of her RoF (21). Each one has an individual DPS rating of 24.36 - absolutely tiny! - but since there are nine of them, they contribute a total of about 219 DPS overall. Comparing that to her base DPS, they’re effectively increasing her damage by about 35%.
That probably sounds pretty weak. M14 - the benchmark for Good DPS Rifle - increases her damage by 65% - almost double Liu’s effective boost - and has a critical damage steroid on top of that. Seems like she should outperform Liu by miles. So how come in this footage, Liu is clearly keeping up with, and even outdamaging M14 MOD?
There are a couple of reasons I can think of for Liu to outperform her. Firstly, M14′s buff isn’t active all of the time. In a long fight like this one, M14′s damage steroid is only active 62% of the time, so her damage output on average is only 40% higher than if she didn’t activate her skill at all. Liu’s reinforcements don’t improve her damage as much, but once they’ve joined the fight, they’re there to stay (mortars and other AOE damage notwithstanding).
Skill uptime by itself does explain why their performance is so much closer; M14′s base stats are also considerably worse (her base DPS rating is only 488, 19% lower than Liu’s), so even with the additional critical damage her Mod skill offers, it makes sense that their performance would be very similar.
That said, Liu’s skill is very unique and particular in its function, and just because their performance is similar in a prolonged battle against a large number of targets doesn’t mean they can be used interchangeably with one another. M14 and other dolls like her deal substantial burst damage during their skill duration, which allows them to deal with powerful enemies more quickly - but makes her vulnerable in the event that she can’t kill every threat before her skill runs out. Liu won’t be able to deal as much damage quite as rapidly, which may make her vulnerable against powerful enemies like Hydras or Doppels that need to be killed as fast as possible - but her performance is much more stable and she won’t suffer from any downtime, making her easier to use in very long fights. Since Liu’s additional damage comes from extra shots and not a strict stat buff, she’s also much better at dealing with large groups of enemies, and is less likely to waste damage via overkill. Also. Liu’s Vanguard Focus mode actually improves her DPS slightly and can give her a strategic niche, in situations where frontline targeting would be preferred over backline targeting.
As downsides, Liu will deal substantially less damage against heavily armored targets unless her AP completely shreds the enemy’s armor - any damage reduction will effectively apply to her twice or even three times as often as other rifles. Additionally, nighttime accuracy is a serious problem for her. Her reinforcements only have a base accuracy of 35 - enough to function effectively during the day, but incredibly inconsistent at night, particularly against crowds of infantry like you might otherwise be tempted to use her for. She’ll perform just fine against standard 0-EVA armored enemies, but her Commander should take care before fielding her against endgame-level Paradeus and other elite challenges where she’s more likely to lose damage compared to a single very accurate rifle like R93 or SKS.

Chan: Shit Show (Intro)
Summary: Even though he’s co-host of a podcast called Shit Show, Chan didn’t think his life would turn into a shit show. But being in the spotlight as a pro OWL player, the show is put on display for the whole world to see.
a/n: this is a spin-off series of All Fun and Games, which was a Wonwoo text au, so a lot of things might not make sense if you read this without reading that first. I don’t know when exactly I’m going to start posting for this, but since I already have an idea for what I wanna do, I wanna write it and stock up on parts while I’m excited, yknow??? character descriptions and stuff will be under the cut!! (and yes I know I made some errors but I’m too lazy to fix em)
Next | Shit Show Masterlist | AFaG Masterlist
You have been a fan of Chan since before he was a pro player. He would stream pretty often, and you caught every single one. You were a subscriber that Chan definitely knew of and spoke to, and you were even made one of his mods. Despite never meeting Chan, the two of you often talk through social media, and you consider him to be one of your friends. You have a huge crush on him, which your best friend, Jordie knows about. However, Chan has a girlfriend.
Chan is a pro Overwatch League player who goes by Dino, and is a main tank player for a Suzhou Serpents. He co-hosts a podcast with his fellow teammate, Soonyoung, called Shit Show. Chan doesn’t stream as much now that he’s a pro player, but he always recognizes your name when it comes up. He started dating a girl online during the off season, and they have had a long distance relatonship for quite a few months now. He’s best friends with Soonyoung, Wonwoo, and Annie, but hes been talking to Hansol a lot more despite their previous “rivalry”.
Kat is Chan’s girlfriend. They’ve been dating for a few months now, but they way Chan speaks about her on stream or in his podcast, you can tell he’s in love with her. You don’t really ever see much of her, but she mostly just posts about Chan, anyway. It’s not that you’re not happy for Chan’s happiness, but you tend to avoid Kat because you don’t want to make yourself sad.
Soonyoung is also a pro OWL player that goes by Hoshi, and he’s the off-tank for the Suzhou’s tank duo. He’s the other co-host for the podcast, Shit Show, which he does with Chan. The pair have had a “rivalry” with the Amsterdam Demon’s tank duo all throughout the previous season, but Soonyoung definitely takes it the most seriously. He refuses to speak to Hansol or Seungkwan, often shading them or having Chan or Annie or Wonwoo relay his messages to them.
Jordie is your best friend despite knowing nothing about OWL. She knows you have a big interest in it, and she knows how much you love Dino, though, so she’s always willing to listen to you gush about it all. Also like a best friend, she often talks about how Chan’s current girlfriend is not nearly as great as you, but she would also take any opportunity to hype you up. She doesn’t take shit from anybody, and she’s very straightforward, which you appreciate.
Annie is better known as m0chi and is the captain of the Busan Warriors, as well as their best flex player. Her and her boyfriend and “rival”, Wonwoo, made quite the headlines last season, so of course you know who they are. Despite things calming down with them, everybody is still a fan of the power couple. After her co-captain, Hongbin, retired from OWL, Annie stepped up and became the official captain of the team. You’ve always admired her as a streamer, player, and person.
Wonwoo is known by the same name but spelled differently, and he’s the co-captain and dps player for the Suzhou team. You enjoy seeing how cute he is toward Annie, but all he does lately is talk about how he misses her since he resides in China now while she’s still in Korea.
Seungkwan is known as BooKwan, and he plays off-tank for the Amsterdam Demons. He’s best friends with Hansol and Annie, and while he’s definitely funny and friendly in person, he takes his rival with Chan and Soonyoung very seriously -- even more serious than Hansol does. He’s definitely sassy, but his heart is always in the right place.
Hansol is known as Vernon, and he’s the main tank player for the Amsterdam Demons. Him and Seungkwan are inseparable (literally -- he was offered a position on the Seoul Dynasty, but he declined because he refused to not be on the same team as Seungkwan) but it’s a close second with Annie. He’s definitely very chill despite the “rivalry” Seungkwan claims they’re supposed to have. He occasionally streams with Chan, actually.
