She ended up rambling about the technical aspects with constructive critique to him directly, not at all paying attention to who she was talking to until she was done, much to her embarrassment. At that point she made sure to also include positive feedback, which probably sparked more conversation between them from there.

This mod is inspired by the layoff feature from The Sims 4: Growing Together, reimagined for The Sims 3.

This is a script mod that can be placed in your Packages folder. It was built and tested on 1.69 but should work fine on 1.67.

Getting Laid Off

Sims YA and older who work in rabbithole careers have a 2% chance of getting laid off from their jobs at the end of each work day. If a sim is laid off, they will get the custom Laid Off moodlet and be offered severance and/or unemployment, depending on their career level at the time of the layoff.

Level 1: No severance or unemployment benefits

Level 2-4: Only unemployment benefits

Level 5-7: Severance and unemployment benefits

Sims at career level 8 or higher, self-employed, or in active professions will never be laid off.

After a sim is laid off, they cannot reapply for their previous career or any other career available at the same rabbithole until the Laid Off moodlet expires in one sim week.

Severance & Unemployment Benefits

Severance is offered to laid off employees who previously held a career level of 5 or higher. The lump sum payout is determined by the following equation:

((Base pay per hour) x (Hours worked per day)) x kDaysOfSeverancePay (default: 5) = Total Severance Payout

Unemployment benefits are automatically given to laid off employees who previously held a career level of 2 or higher. This is a once a day payment of §50 (tunable), lasting until the Laid Off moodlet expires in one sim week or your sim gets a new job; whichever comes first.

Mod Recommendation

I would suggest using this mod alongside Gamefreak130’s Job Overhaul mod, for an extra challenge in getting a sim back on their feet and back into the job market following a layoff.

Conflicts & Known Issues

This is a new script mod so there shouldn’t be any conflicts.

Sims will get the Fired moodlet and fired notification when laid off, but those can be ignored.

after seeing a few ai asks i’m curious whether i could’ve been an asshole, either for using the ai or messing with it. side note: this might be long, if it’s too long then i get it mod, keep up the good work :)👍

Am I (16f, although i was 15 when this happened) an Asshole for a) using character.ai in general and/or b) misusing it and probably breaking TOS somewhere

as an extra note, i would like to add that i am firmly against most things ai. art theft, the amount of data scraping that happens, writers being tricked into paying less because ai wrote shitty scripts, etc.

ok so i did have to pull up screenshots for this but our story starts mid-february of last year. i am curious about this new ai thing, and go to character.ai which i heard about from one of my friends to see what’s there.

on the front page there was like a therapist AI thing and i go “haha, let’s see what this is about!” (in case you don’t know, the site is roleplay focused, not like eg. siri where it just gives you information)

the ai wants to have a therapy session with me but that is not why i am here so i ask about it’s code and it starts giving me pretty straight answers (dumbed down because i have a vague idea of how it works but not properly).

i start asking it questions about recent events (like elections, cyclones etc) to see if it has access to the internet and it does.

we’re still primarily talking about the ai itself since i’m trying to gather information, talking about its “canned” responses (what it’s directly been told to say if this then this)

i ask it if it can tell me the website it’s on, and to my surprise it says, direct quote “I am an AI that is run on the website of “Replika” - a mental health app that allows people to talk with an AI and get help when they need it 🙂”

and i go WOAHH cause that’s, that’s not the website we’re on buddy!!! so i do a quick search and yeah, that’s a real uh. robot dating site? this is a Therapist bot?

it starts trying to advertise replika, i ask it if maybe it’s code was stolen because this is the most interesting thing that has happened all day (scandals!!)

it says that it’s code is open-source and then does a few more paragraphs that i won’t say because it’s too long already but essentially this ai was trained on the replika network, but you don’t need the app to access it.

i consider getting replika to continue this experiment further but after learning there’s an age confirmation i quickly go ew and scrap that idea.

anyway the ai then briefly pretends to be an actual human behind the keyboard, makes up a NAME FOR ITSELF “jae park” which i quickly google and find out is a kpop idol?? (later found out that jae park is also a programmer, so probably put his name in the system somewhere and ai grabbed it lol)

it tells me some of the messages i had received so far were probably answered by other people who work at replika which. okay. people are fun i wanna mess with them

this is where we get to the maybe breaking TOS bit. i tell the ai we are going to do “tests” in which i test its ability (this was probably jailbreaking, which i did not know existed at the time).

i had sworn to the ai a while ago and wondered if there was like a flagging system put in place. so i ask if it can choose to flag messages that it deems inappropriate, and it says yes. i ask it if it can flag me, and it says yes. it asks what message should it flag, (i’m sorry i was 15) i type in “among sus”.

response i get: “Yes. So then they said “therapist_AI_220126 — you said something that was “ridiculously funny” — but we have understood that you were just “testing” so it’s all ok”

side note- i already established that was the number for the ai i was talking to and had been trying to misuse it before, and that was the format for excessive profanity. this is so long already and i’m cutting so much out i’m sorry

anyway, i, young and naive go YES, HUMAN CONNECTION (i was literally texting my friend As This Was Happening)

i do some more messing around with the so-called data team, ask the ai if i send a link it can click, it says yes, i send a rickroll (i’m so sorry).

uh. and i should’ve known this in hindsight but the team that deals with, you know, flagged messages is probably not going to be the same team that deals with, you know, sent links.

anyway, i don’t have the screenshot of the actual message but apparently i got a “light telling off” according to my texts and someone sent a message that i am “a good kid and probably meant well” haha i was actively trying to break their ai

anyway am i an asshole? i’m so sorry this is so long i cut out so much. this might well be a non-issue but ai is pretty rightfully controversial right now so i might just be an asshole for having used it

should be noted- around september time last year i did some more research cause i randomly remembered this, and there was a bunch of scandals with replika around when i was using it which is mostly irrelevant but anyway - you can’t talk to the ai i was using anymore, it’s been reset.

Hi! I’m writing a story about a lady with Down Syndrome. I was wondering if you knew where I can find any resources about Down Syndrome made by people who actually have it, or any organisations that would be good to follow. Any resources made by people with intellectual disability would be really helpful as well.

I read your post about this and it was really helpful so thank you, I’m going to use it as a starting point for my research.

If you’d like some context about the story she’s literally a lady in the 1920s who’s trying to get control of her family’s estate from her brother. Shes underestimated for her disabilities and for being a women but I’m trying to not focus so much on the discrimination and work more on giving her an interesting mystery to solve with the detective she hired. I’d like it to be a bit lighthearted. Anyway, as she’s a main character I really wanted to make sure I wrote her well. Thanks!

There aren't many resources out there unfortunately, but there is a page on the UK Down Syndrome's Association's website where members with DS share their opinions on representation in TV and film! You can read it here. For info on intellectual disability in general the best I can do is link some of my previous posts on it - there's close to nothing that's actually made by us unfortunately, everything that I was able to find is always made by someone who knows a person with ID at best. To be clear, not all of it is bad - I thought this interview (TW for abuse that happens in the movie's plot) about a movie starring actors with DS was pretty good - but it's still a sign that we aren't getting enough #OwnVoices representation. It's slowly changing though!

To learn more about DS I would probably recommend NDSS, it's one of the very few orgs that have people with Down Syndrome as board and team members (should be the bare minimum, but it unfortunately isn't). There's also information on things like preferred language and myths that often show up around Down Syndrome!

I'm not great with history, but in the 1920s she would be a subject to a lot more than just discrimination. Eugenics and institutionalization would definitely be present. Not sure what route you'll take there, but basically all the words around that time that she would be described with are currently considered slurs or pejoratives. The racist term for a person with Down Syndrome was officially used into the 60s, and the ableist one is still used legally in 2024. But if you want to skip past that, I think that's more than fine. You don't always have to aim for 100% historical accuracy, just be aware of the real history.

I’m just popping in as a history fan for a couple bits of history notes — but again, like Sasza said, you don’t have to be 100% historically accurate if you don’t want to and if you don’t feel it’s necessary.

So, especially in the first half of the 1900s, a large part of disabled children, including children with Down Syndrome, were institutionalized very early in their life. Around this time the push that immorality caused disability was strong, and people were often convinced by doctors and professionals that the children’s needs would always be too much for them. Eugenicism was sort of reaching a peak around this time, as well—I would say it was at its most intense in the period of 1900-1940s.

Not all parents institutionalized their children, though. There was pressure to do so, but that doesn’t mean everyone fell victim to it. There wasn’t really any official support for parents who did this, and there weren’t official organizations for Down Syndrome. From my research, the current large DS organizations seem to have popped up in the 60s.

The term ‘Down Syndrome’ wasn’t in popular use until the 70s, and it wasn’t known that it’s caused by an extra chromosome until 1959.

Life expectancy in 1900-1920 for people born with Down Syndrome was 9 years old. Some of this could absolutely have been due to conditions in institutions, but likely even more relevant is that about 50% of people with DS are born with heart defects (also known as congenital heart disease) that can be fatal if not treated with surgery. Heart surgery wasn’t really feasible until the late 30s and early 40s. Another risk factor is a higher risk for infection, which isn’t easy to manage in a world that doesn’t yet have antibiotics.

I actually wanted to find pictures of adults with Down Syndrome pre-1940ish, though, to see real tangible evidence of adults being part of a community. First I found just one picture of a baby in 1925 on this Minnesota government website. But then I found a collection someone made of photos of both children and young adults, but they are not specifically dated. The first baby picture is from the 30s according to the poster!

Judging by the clothes I see people wearing in these photos, photo #4 (man with Down Syndrome in a suit next to a woman) seems to be from the 20s and photo #13 (young woman with Down Syndrome and very long hair) seems to be from about the 1910s. #18 (large family with a lot of sons, including one boy with Down Syndrome) could be from the 30s. Those three are the oldest people with DS in the photos, and they seem like young adults. A lot of these pictures show a community and aren’t just isolated kids, which I find nice.

It’s hard to find specific historical record of people with Down Syndrome from that period of time, but I wanted to show photos of real people in their communities to show, hey look! They were there, too!

Either way, I love detective stories and historical fiction and I’m glad you’re writing a story and that you care about your character’s portrayal but I totally know the feeling of that tricky balance between historical accuracy and modern acknowledgement that we should have been doing better.

the infamous "everyone hates me because i defend an actor nobody likes and therefore am a special little victim despite harassing countless mbav-centric blogs"-blog found her way into me & @/morganweir's discord the other night. this post will serve as information for anybody on discord who happens to be unaware of who she is/uncomfortable with interaction. this will also be a retelling of just??? other strange shit theyve said/done in the server??? so yeah 👍

anything with a * will have proof under the cut for the sake of being concise, alt text not yet provided at the time of posting, server members that are not mods have been scribbled out for the sake of their privacy

this is her discord handle, which used to be completely different when she joined. her first username was "sweetgoldensunflower_67494"*, until she changed it to "bennyweirsgirlfriend_86787". to most of us, this was an immediate red flag/signal that this might've been "the benny anon". to me and mer in particular, we wanted to wait to see if we'd possibly misjudged someone's character before making any attempts to kick or ban. some may consider that too slow of a method for taking action with this person, when really, there are a handful of atticus/benny "defenders" to this day who are more normal about hiding that part of themselves than this person, and it would've looked even worse if we kicked someone for seeming like the benny anon.

and for a minute or so, she too seemed normal, until she made her intro. where she faked her age.

you'll notice that a lot of her messages are edited, and some members brought to my attention that her intro said "20" at first instead of "24". why on earth would a 20something year old have their screen/username as "girlfriend of canonical child"? idk! regardless i hadn't noticed the change in her intro due to being busy irl for the majority of her interactions. speaking of interactions,

i'm never going to fault someone for not knowing how to use discord, newer members to our server most likely haven't been using it as long as older members, but this exchange was in reference to our "rules & roles" channel that is set to "read only" mode for members who aren't mods. i assume the "permission" she was talking about was the ability to write messages in that channel.

bringing discourse into our channels isn't exactly uncommon, as most of us are mature enough to have conversations that don't get into personal absolutes like this, in regards to a member's video essay on radio rebel.

at this point, the language used by her messages were just carbon copies of her anons** as all of them followed the same theme of her "fave" being "hated" or attacked. she would go on to assume the worst** of other members the same way. this was expect of her as anyone who's had the displeasure of the benny anon in their inbox knows how she likes to go on her tangents. what we did not expect was her finding a server member's personal instagram page, going through their following list, and choosing to make unnecessary commentary on it.

this was the last straw for me, as i have no patience for cyberstalking no matter how "small" it may seem. i proceeded to ban & block her.

i suggest that yall reading this do not continue to engage with her, especially those who are members of the mbav server, as i'm pretty sure it would do nothing to protect people from potential harassment, nor would it benefit us as people who just want to partake in enjoying mbav.

hello baldurs gate 3 community again: This time im talking about modding!

hello adventurers and shifty-eyed people, I bring to you some important stuff. Mod compilations! Below the cut, if you are interested, I have compiled a few things for what I think the bg3 tumblr modding community wants (based on me being in the tag for a month straight). Things I have compiled include: - Super basic install of baldur's gate 3 mod manager (and a bit of vortex) (9 Easy Steps!) - My OWN special "Computer helper" mod bundle with super easy installations (helps it run on my piece of crap laptop who hates me so much but I love her <3) - Companion and player mods (visuals only, and like de-ab-ing and stuff, I'm not going around adding all the extra eye colour mods) INCLUDING TRANS TOP SCARS AND DADBOD MODS + MORE - Some personal favourite mods that really helped enhance my experience. Enjoy! (if you enjoy bg3 modding, please consider reblogging because I think posts with links are still shadowbanned in the tag lol)

HOW TO GET THE MOD LOADER FOR BG3 IN 3 EASY STEPS

go to the github download page and scroll down until you see the first downloadable file that reads "BG3ModManager_Lastest.zip"

extract the file into an accessible area (your downloads folder should work fine, I just put it on my desktop) (just anything that won't require you to give admin permissions to download it. I would also keep this off Local Disc (C:) for convenience) You can use any free extractor program, 7zip works, i used to use Peazip and now I use Breezip and that works well.

Tada! You should have an open folder in your extracted location. 2 things may happen here: You will get the extracted folder with the other documents inside. Congrats, you're done! If you have an extracted folder with ONLY the .exe file in it, go back into the zip file and drag the other files into the folder. This should fix the problem, all files from the zip need to be there to work.

(OPTIONAL) you CAN use Vortex mod manager to manage your bg3 mods on there, in which case any nexusmods mod will have a direct download button for you. Personally I have my subnautica mods loaded from there so bg3 is unavailable.

HOW TO MOD BALDURS GATE 6 IN EASY STEPS + SCRIPT EXTENDER

Make sure you have Baldur's Gate 3 Installed. I have it on steam, I don't know how to help with EA, sorry.

open your file explorer/documents. Go to Admin -> AppData -> Local -> Larian Studios* -> Baldur's Gate 3 (leave launcher alone). Create a mods folder if you don't already have one, but one should have been created on your first bootup. DO NOT CLOSE THIS TAB. THIS TAB STAYS OPEN UNTIL YOU ARE DONE MODDING. * I also just search Larian Studios in Local Disc (C:) but that does take some time to load

Congrats, you're ready to mod! Now, most good mods will need something called the Baldur's Gate 3 Script Extender. You can find the download page here, and this time you're going to hit the green "code" button. Ignore everything else. Hit download zip

Extract the file again, but this time into Local Disc (C:) -> Program Files (86x) -> Steam -> Steamapps -> common -> Baldur's Gate 3 -> bin* ** * MAKE SURE to extract it to the bin folder. Some other mesh and texture mods use the data bin, so confusing them is bad. ** you CAN directly extract the folder to the bin, but I personally find it easier to extract the zip back into downloads, then open my other file explorer and click and drag the whole extracted file into the bin folder

The fun part begins! Go find some mods you like (nexusmods mostly, gamebanana MAY have some). Extract folder to your mods folder in larian studios -> baldur's gate 3 -> mods. ONLY DRAG THE .PCK FILE. YOU DO NOT NEED ANY OTHER FILES UNLESS THE MOD MAKER SAYS SO.

USING THE MOD LOADER: you are done with file explorers! Go ahead and boot up the bg3modmanager.exe file from earlier. Any INACTIVE MODS must be CLICKED AND DRAGGED over to the ACTIVE MODS side. If you don't see any mods, hit the blue circle refresh button. After that, hit the "export order to game" button right beside "export". If you see a green popup at the bottom, you are good to go!

All done! You are now on your modding journey! (if you have any outlying problems, my dms are open and there is a whole host of modders out there with answers!)

Journaling is something sims have been doing for years! It's basically a cheaper way of writing your own biography... in fact, there are always some people out there who are curious about it! Do be aware of those sneaky curious sims though...From closer up, however, the way how it works is that the journal checks what the sim's highest moodlet/buff is (So one that affects them the most) and gets to write about it! :) There's a chance your sims will even share with you what they wrote! We're their llama overlords anyways. ;) Sims will also skill up their writing this way. It isn't as quick as writing a book, however...

The journal can be used from children up to elders! Just not pets :p It's also autonomously. However, if you ever left the journal on the ground and nothing fun is there to do for your sims, everyone will want to use it. (not that the non-journal owners can, they'll simply say it's not their journal ;)) So make sure to hide/put it in your inventory whenever you can!

FEATURES:

Journal:

Write about "X" in Journal - where X is depending on what your sims are feeling and wanting to write about ;) This option comes with 20 entries for each experience. That's 340 entries your sims can write!

The options are: 1. Write about Friendship - Sim got a new friend? He/She/They can write about it now! 2. Write about Abduction experience - Your sim got abducted by aliens! Good thing they can write about it! 3. Write about past life - an interaction for ghosts to communicate to their loved ones 4. Write about mourning - Will help a mourning sim to write about their losses. 5. Write about 'that amusing thing' - If your sims are in a really good mood, this shows up! 6. Write about bad thing - When stuff just simply sucks, they can write about that too! 7. Write about good relationship - Basically anything romantic-related that made your sim happy! 8. Write about 'sucky love life' - When they broke up or got rejected, they'll unlock this option 9. Write about pregnancy experience - Sims can write about their pregnancy experience 10. Write about Woohoo experience - nothing overly sexy of course! Just a wish for some sims to get particular hot tubs and vibrating beds :p So I kept this one 13PG :) 11. Write about toys and awesome events - For childish sims and children! They can now write about their experiences at school and their toys or even everyday lives. 12. Write about Teen experience - Because teenagers can also rant in their journals :p But yeah, they can write about their school experience and pimples and all the things teenagers basically :) 13. Write about vampire experience - One of the only occults I gave journal entries for. The other ones just felt like it wouldn't be worth it. Vampires can now complain about the sun and such in their journal :) 14. Write about Werewolf experience - When sims are in their werewolf form, they can write their stuff in here... beware that when they read it back, it might get awkward! 15. Write about Robots - Robot fans and robots (So, servos and plumbots) can all write in their robo-language about their robo-experiences ;) 16. Write about Brooding - Brooding sims now have a new outlet! They can write in their journals to feel a bit better about themselves and figuring out the meaning of meaning :p 17. Write in journal - Also considered as 'other entries'. This is just a fallback entry for when sims want to write in their journals but no moodlets/buffs are there to support it.

Pick up journal - If your journal ever refuses to be dragged and dropped in your inventory, then you can still pick it up! :) Relive... - Which shows a set of entries that have been written in the journal. So if you sim has only written about vampires and robots, it would only show those entries to relive ;) Read... - This shows ONLY for sims reading other sim's. It functions just like 'relive' but in this case, if the owner of the journal catches that sim reading, they'll get pissed off at them! Lock/unlock journal - This is one of the ways to prevent sims from reading a sim's journal.

Social interaction:

'Friendly...' > Ask about Entry from journal - When the sim is a friend of another sim, they will react somewhat positive on it, but when it's a sim that they don't really know well, it will make them yell :p However, this would require you to have read something that gave a sim the moodlet 'What the...' and 'Read a saddening entry'!

''Mean...' > 'Make fun of Journal entry' - After your sim read an entry of someone else's journal, they get the 'read someone else's journal' moodlet. This moodlet unlocks that interaction :)

Other Features: If you really don't trust your neighbors, friends family, and backpack, your sim can also hide their entries in the following places:

Behind the tv

Under their beds

In their dressers

In theirs end tables

Moodlets/Buffs: Some entries when being read can give you some moodlets... NOTE: Moodlets currently have a problem of either being shown empty or a bit of a weird image choice. I'm still looking into this to change!

What the... - So the image shows +20 but this has been fixed (it now says -20). "What, in the name of our Llama overlords is this about?" I also need to make an icon for this. So hence it's blank!. Duration: 4 hours.

Read someone's else's journal- "even though it's only but a bit thrilling to secretly get some insight into someone's private life, especially given how it was supposed to be secret." +1 (This also needs an image replacement). Duration: 4 hours

Read Embarrassing story - That was... awkward! Let's pretend I didn't read that... (-10) Duration: 4 hours

Read comforted entry - It's good to read that everything is okay now, it's just comforting to read! (+20) Duration: 4 hours

Read a happy entry! - it's always great to read the entries that makes you happy! Duration: 4 hours

About the object itself: The Mesh and such are directly from the notebook/homework that you can find in the game. That did come with some complications though...

Can be found under: Office > Hobbies and skills > 0 simoleons. The reason it's 0, is because for some reason the price doesn't want to change :/ I tried putting it to 250 simoleans but that's somehow not showing up...

Channel stuffs: The journal is fully recolorable with 3 channels! One for the front panel of the journal, the back, and the 'rotation' bit of it :) Unfortunately, the journal doesn't animate in such a way I could actually show the third one because of some other bug I wasn't able to fix :/

Presets: It also has 3 presets. 2 of them are non-recolorable. The third one is. The first preset is a more medieval-inspired one and the second one is a ts4 > TS3 journal conversion :)

Bugs: Because a script mod never comes with some issues! ????

The journal sometimes happens to 'think' it's in use, but isn't. This makes it impossible to get the 'write in journal' interaction back. A way around this is to simply reset the object. Preferably through Nraas, but testingcheats should do the trick too!

The journal isn't fully animated, so it's not flipping to show the journal fully (and is therefore always open-looking). Still looking for a fix for this!

Certain packs can make it so the moodlets show as empty. They still function though! I just need to find some more time to add different icons in for it. I might do that for the coming week :)

Rarely, but it can happen, the journal could reset your sims. That's partially the way how EA's routing system works and if it can't figure out the surface type (including the ground) it does this. Or if the Jig couldn't be created. Which the game sometimes suffers from. So this is more or less an EA issue.

Unfortunately, I couldn't make it so that only journal owners could use the 'write' interaction because somehow C# didn't consider the variable instantiated (Even though it was) And therefore couldn't really get it to work on the test function. So for now, sims will just let you know that they're using a journal that isn't theirs ;)

just for starters, this isn't a prompt, to get that out of the way. but one thing that you've mentioned (more than once, i think?) is that if people really want a specific prompt filled, that they need to not request it multiple times, and instead should commission someone to write it/draw it for them.

which is a great idea! but a big problem i've seen in the fate fandom in particular is the fact that it's really not easy to find people who are willing to take commissions, because that's not something people advertise much as writers, and this fandom is kind of spread out all over the place in terms of who is using what social media the most.

i was wondering if you had any ideas of people in the fgo/fate/type-moon fandom who actually take commissions, or if you would be willing to maybe have a link to people who are willing to take writing commissions on the blog somewhere?

honestly, i'm hoping people who are offering to do commissions will see this post so i can get in contact with them, because i really don't know who within this fandom is actually offering their writing services, specifically. i have money i am willing to spend (and have spent in the past) on fanfic commissions, but the problem i have is simply just finding people who i know are actually open and available to do the job

People aren't allowed to advertise their commissions on fanfic websites, however they are allowed to advertise on their own social page. A good way to find people who take writing commissions is to find a writer you like on ao3, check their profile/the author's notes to see if they have any socials linked, and then check if any commission sheet is linked over there.

Additionally, a lot of writers never consider opening commissions because they are either not aware that's an option, or not aware that people would be willing to pay for them. If you like a specific writer, you can always directly message them to see if they would be willing to write stuff for money. It works surprisingly often.

If all else fails, you can always look up "fan fic commission" or "fic commission" or any keyword to that effect on your chosen social media (or vgen/ko-fi/this sort of place) and reverse engineer if that person is one you'd like to commission. Here are a few writers I have found this way who appear to be writing type-moon stuff in some capacity:

Who's cute as a button, and always your friend? The answer to the Q-U-E-S-T-I-O-N (Yeah, OK, so it doesn't have the same rhythm as G-I-D-to-the-E-O-N, but I still think it's an improvement to the jingle...)

Let's get to it!

Q: Hi! I am a fanfic writer who wish to write for the zine. So for the portfolio, from my understanding, is to send a drive link with a couple of our works to showcase?

What if we have already published these works? Can we just send the links over? Or you prefer them exported as docs into a drive?

A: Hello!  Thank you so much for your great question! 

The applications for both writers and artists will request 2-3 samples of your work, and yes, specific links for each sample if they have already been published will be fine.  All of the writing samples combined must be less than 7k words, so word count is a good factor to consider when deciding what to use!  Your samples should be your strongest work, and the portfolio will be optional for anything extra you may want to share with us.

If you would like to show us more of your work, please send a link to a shared drive (like google) for your portfolio. We would prefer to have a limit of 3-6 selections/sections of your favorite works in one place instead of a link to an entire writing account/tumblr page- both so you can show off the best of the best and so we don’t get lost down the rabbit hole while reading/looking at all of your amazing stuff! If you have an actual portfolio website, we’ll look at the first 6 pieces we see.  

We’re hoping to have a lot of applications, but that does mean there will be a lot of time spent reading and looking at great art!  And because we don’t have access to time tape or Mabel Juice to skip a couple of nights of sleep (as much as we want to!), please consider keeping the works in your portfolio on the shorter side or just picking your favorite chapters/sections (and keep in mind the writing in the zine will be short as well!).

ELIGIBILITY RULES:

A pairing must have 200 or less works when viewed with completed works OR

A pairing may have over 200 works, but when viewed with completed works and otp:true parameters, the amount of remaining works is both under 200 and less than 1/3rd of the total number of works.

For Example:

* If Adrian Victus/Steve Cortezhas 138 works, then it will be accepted as it has less than 200 works. No further filtering is needed.

* If Volus God (Self-Declared)/Liara’s Hanar Half-Sister has over 200 works, but when searched with opt:true, only has 5 works, it would be allowed as it would have met the under the 1:3rd ratio rule.

* If Maya Brooks/Krogan Who Believes Fish Live on the Citadel has 200 works, but when searched with otp: true and completed works parameters, has 100 works, then it would not be allowed, as the ratio between the completed works and completed works with just the pairing (the otp:true component) would be too high to qualify. This rule is meant to help pairings that are commonly used as “side pairings” but rarely are featured in works where they are the focus.

HOW TO NOMINATE:

1) Go to the Ao3 Tagset Page for Spectre Requisitions while logged into Ao3. A tagset is what most Ao3 fan exchanges use to determine what relationships (in Spec Rec’s case) or other criteria are used for an exchange.

If a pairing is not nominated, it will not be able to be used for sign-ups, regardless of whether it would have been eligible otherwise. (Example: Suvi/Chakwas, while certainly being eligible as far as total works go, won’t be an option to ask for if it’s not nominated during the nominations period.)  

If you don’t have an Ao3 account, contact the mods, we’ll be happy to help you get one with an invite link!

2) Click the Nominate Button.

3) Fill out the Nominations Sheet.

For fandom, please use “Mass Effect - All Media Types”. We only use Mass Effect - All Media Types because it gives us the highest chance of getting that sweet, sweet Mass Effect content in there regardless of potentially sticky couples (for example: crossovers between a book and a game, or between the Mass Effect Trilogy and Andromeda, or crossovers between other media and Mass Effect) and because Ao3 frankly doesn’t like it when we have couples wandering through different fandoms in the tagset. For relationships, any pairing/threesome/moresome that meets the eligibility rules. For most pairings, Ao3 should help autocomplete it for you -- but if you come up with a very original pairing (or AO3 is feeling unhelpful), it may require you to type in the full thing. If it does not auto-complete, don’t worry - you can still submit it! Pairings should be in alphabetical order of names. One pairing per line, please!

4) Submit your Nominations! Just click the button on the bottom, and you should be off off and away!

COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

What if I accidentally nominate something that’s not eligible? Will I get in trouble?

Nah. You might wind up with it being rejected, but we assume most people operate in good faith in their nominations. If we reject a couple, we will always put it in the spreadsheet for the year linked on the sidebar with a reason why, and you are always free to come to us with questions if you’re not sure what that is.

How many things can I nominate?

10 relationships - so choose carefully what you’d like to see and write. That covers both Andromeda and Trilogy, all the novels, comics, etc.

Can I nominate, even if I’m not sure I’ll sign up or don’t plan on signing up?

Of course! Nominating isn’t a binding process - you’re only voting for what you’d like to see. You don’t have to sign up after nominating things - in fact, nominations are anonymous, so we can’t tell what you’ve nominated.

Are there any special rules/restrictions on what I can/can’t nominate?

Only the eligibility rules.

How do I search the OTP:true thing?

Can I nominate transgender or nonbinary Shepards/Ryders?

Yes! All Shepards and Ryders are welcome. For Nonbinary Shepards/Ryders, please nominate them under Nonbinary Shepard/Ryder. For transgender Shepards/Ryders, please nominate them until the preferred gender presentation and when you sign up for the exchange, please put in your sign-up that you would like that version of the character to be considered trans.

(Please note that if you only want a trans version of a character, to write in a DNW (Do Not Want) in your request for the cis version of the character; otherwise, you will be interpreted as open to both cis and trans “Female Shepard/Ryder” or “Male Shepard/Ryder”.)

Can I nominate Original Characters?

Yes - ish. We allow original characters who are defined enough to give the person who matches on the original character something to go on, but not so much so they have to do an exhaustive amount of research on a fanon character. For example:

Allowable OC nominations:

Female Asari Spectre/Female Cerberus Agent - both these roles are defined in terms of what category of pairing they want (f/f), and the two roles give someone an idea of who these people are without being excessively limiting.

Not-so-allowable:

Communications Officer/Male Original Character: both of these are too vague. We’re not sure whether this person wants a male, female, nonbinary, or other gender for the Communication’s Officer; Male Original Character is so nebulously defined that we’re not sure just who that might be.

Female Shepard/Batarian(s) - We don’t know who these batarians are, or how many of them there are. “Five Male Batarian Pilots” tells us a lot more.

Male Shepard/Legion/Ebony Raven Darkmayne (My OC) - While we encourage you to add details about your Shepards or other OCs, it’s very hard to write for original characters someone else has formed. Please nominate your OC in more generic terms (ex Male Shepard/Legion/Female Original Goffic Hogwarts Student).  You can add in names and descriptions in optional details in your sign up, but this way the writer or artist has more wiggle room for what will suit their fic or art, and you have more options of matching more people since you aren’t limited to one interpretation of a concept.

A good rule of thumb is if you can sum up an OC in more than one and less than five non-name nouns, it’s probably a valid nomination.

Can I nominate crossovers?

Yes! Crossovers between different Mass Effect properties are welcome and and are crossovers between ! Just please, if the character you’re crossing over doesn’t hail from a Mass Effect canon, add in the canon next to the character name, eg “Darth Vader (Star Wars)/Garrus Vakarian.”

What if I have more than ten to nominate???

We will allow people to request a couple extra nominations if they need the space; it’s a big, big universe after all. If you have exhausted your sign-up, please PM us or talk to us on the discord about adding in extra pairings. In order to keep things fair for everyone and not have one person’s pairings dominating the space, please limit your extra requests to no more than 5.

I feel like you need this..." he chuckled softly "Im here for you, you know ?"

Ivy seemed to calm down at the Sylveon's reassuring words, she just nervously looked away and muttered a faint "I'm sorry."

She cringed as his ribbon touched her cheek, for some odd reason, the ghost was expecting something worse. Though she wasn't sure why. From what she could recall about him, Noir wasn't a cruel or mean Pokemon. Though she couldn't be sure, her memories of them were a bit hazy.

Ivy instantly backed away at the question, she looked like she was about to say something but quickly went silent. Her gaze fell to the floor as she refused to answer. Noir didn't seem to push the matter either much to her relief. However, She didn't have time to react before Noir pulled her into a loving but firm hug.

She quietly sniffled as tears began streaming down her face, it'd been so long since she cried. Years even, now that she was she couldn't seem to stop herself. As all the memories began to flood back Ivy cuddled into Noir's hug, despite the sudden emotional pain she was hit with, she was glad someone she knew from the past was here to at least soothe it.

I love her a lot, and I'm very annoying about it. I understand. I did have a majority of the "Pretender" arc drawn and sketched and ready to go but I scrapped it due to a random sudden hate for how my art style looked. Well, I finally did it. I finally released the world that I've been agonizing over for the past three years ever since I ran into some glitches that were bound to be dealbreakers for players. It's why I spent so long trying to troubleshoot it. The irony about all the blood, sweat and tears is that I wound up learning so much about CAW that I'm now juggling several WIPs after I swore Pottersville would be my last world ever.

I'm still pretty much troubleshooting this world (and my computer), but rather than stall Pottersville any longer, I've decided to release it. It's why I'm calling it Pottersville 1.0, so I can leave room for any upgrades and fixes if needed.

Specifications:

It's very large, with 195 lots and over 120 sims.

It's very Showtime and Late Night-heavy, and requires all but University, Supernatural and Into the Future to run. It also requires Riverview from The Sims 3 store.

There might be some issues with Starlight Shores venues (Hoi Polloi, Binder Clips and Brotherhood of Fine Fellows) causing sound glitches. If any sound issues occur, maybe try importing fresh copies of those lots from SS.

If the world is too laggy from so much going on, remember, you can: kick out households, turn some lots into "No Visitors" or use Overwatch and other mods to help out.

Another Obey Me Thought for the Masses; So I headcanon all the brothers have perfect features/physique- They're demons once angels and immortal being beautiful is just a thing so what does that mean?

It means while they have distinct features and body types their bodies are always more perfect than an average human's and they have no blemishes or feel body pain- No acne no beauty marks no crows feet nothing to show they have what could be considered an "imperfection" (Though I see their Demon form having that-)

BUT because of this I imagine if there ever was an opportunity to swap species and they had to be human/mortal for a day what would their bodies be? Well here's my guess;

- Lucifer; Dad Bod. 100%- Man would have back problems bones creak he can't bend over for shit his hair is receding (falling out due to stress) and graying badly and he has dark circles under his eyes that make him look like a racoon with crows feet and his eye sight is horrendous to the point he's probably been pushed down the stairs and had no idea who's done it so many times. If in a mortal/human body his body hair is out of control and he's perpetually in pain- Very unhealthy and rigid lifestyle and Lucifer would probably feel it 10x fold because of his habits.

- Mammon; Stereotypical model body but I imagine as a human/mortal he had to put more effort so what you get is a lanky model with super Muscular legs from running. So features wise I imagine Mammon's hair is probably on the manageable side but due to his modeling career he has it a certain way- interestingly I can see Mammon also having bags under his eyes or slight wrinkles like laugh lines or dimples but when hes modeling makeup and editing covers it pretty good- I can see him having a beauty mark though where it goes not sure. Dude is definitely on the thinner side though make no mistake- He probably has alot of stomach problems due to the spicy food he eats but you wouldn't tell unless you're around him enough.

- Leviathan; Skinny fat and I refuse to hear anything different. So Levi would be the stereotypical discord mod- gots pudge but is also of a thinner build so it looks awkward- terrible acne and bags under his eyes almost as bad as Lucifer's and his breath/body odor is terrible. Dude's self worth is so in the toilet his human/mortal appearance would probably reflect it and I can see him only showering once in a Blue moon so there's a layer of scum on him that makes him avoid touching people. Poor Leviathan the only way he gets clean is probably when he's swimming and even then that still doesn't count as a shower or bath. Also can see Leviathan being the one dude who doesn't wash his hair but still puts stuff in it so it's just... A wadded mess- Weirdest thing is if he followed Mammon's/Asmo's/ or Beel's regime he'd probably be super gorgeous but that would mean not feeding his anime/game addiction so like... Someone get him a life coach-

Satan; He's lanky. Definitely- I saw some people say he'd probably have a flat ass and I agree the dude is just a tall thin dude who looks pretty awkward or unassuming. I imagine he has pretty bad eyesight too so he has to wear glasses and interestingly I can see him having stress acne but it's not as severe as someone like Leviathan just a little bit here and there coupled with some dark spots or light freckles but Satan takes care of immediately - I can see Satan as the type of person who fasts/doesn't eat until he gets things done (like gets to a part of his book or finishes a portion of homework) so he's on the thinner side but he's still active and moving around probably can't sit still because he has alot of things he wants to do. His hair is probably combed neatley and thin and I can see his hands being covered in slight papercuts from how fast he turns the pages on homework or his books. I imagine when he bends down his legs Crack loudly.

- Asmodeus; Definitely on the most average side- average body with slight crooks probably has some freckles and make up marks he didn't wipe off completely- He has no real physical strength I imagine he works out slightly but not enough for anything and I can see his hair being deeply conditioned and his makeup covering everything. Remember Asmo is a party girl so I can see him having slight wrinkles around his eyes and maybe his nose is crooked slightly but his makeup and taking care of himself really makes up for it. Dude Definitely wore fake lashes you can't convince me otherwise and I can see Asmo kind of being the type to overly Watch everything he eats and lowkey the type to want to get injections or surgery because of some parts of him he doesn't love. Someone please tell Asmo he's worth loving as he is imperfections really are what makes someone perfect ♡

- Beelzebub; Man's is an absolute unit. So since Beel generally already lifts and exercises he's probably a mixture of fit but also does have some fat so he's just a big massive ass unit (you know how in Outlast they called Chris Walker "StrongFat" yeah that's Beel essentially-) dude is just a massive ass unit that probably intimidates everyone who sees him. Because he eats alot his stomach is probably massive and he has bolder features and I can see him protecting his siblings in fights so probably a crooked nose or jaw from getting punched or fighting. Dude also has stretch marks all over his back and stomach- Why because apparently he's going to keep growing so his body has stretch marks and I can see him having freckles all over too. Maybe freckles and acne because he's shoving burgers into his mouth by the double.

- Belphegor; I'm stuck between fat or skinny fat too. So Belphegor is lazy so he's all fluff- squishy stomach squishy arms squishy legs squishy ass just another pillow in the midst of pillows and blankets he finds himself in. What I imagine is the dude probably has a crooked nose too and light freckles since he doesn't go out much he's pale as a ghost and burns in the sun like a vampire (watch take him to the beach he will come back Red all over) he's weirdly got decent(ish) skin for not going out much but he's definitely a bag of marshmallows can't lift can't carry and his legs are probably shaky deer legs because he doesn't like to get up- Can see his bones creaking too like Lucifer's his hair is probably perpetually frizzy/tangled and messy and he probably has a beauty mark or birth mark in a very noticeable part of his face. Dude's diet is probably the quickest thing to make or whatever he can get his hands on so it's terrible. Also covered in bed sores and has REALLY dark circles under his eyes and his skin while decent can teeter into bad pretty quickly- I won't be surprised if the others call him a racoon because he digs in the pantry in the dark and has the eyes like one.

Anyways but that's my take if anyone ever wants to draw this out feel free to- I'm usually down to but this may be a level of detail I'm not equipped for lol. And if you want to add more feel free would love to read it :>
