On David Tennant and Aging

So, I’ve seen a lot of posts in response to Tumblr users’ habit of affectionately calling their favorite middle aged dudes “old men”, David Tennant in particular, saying things like “clearly you’ve never met an actual old person”, “omg you talk about these guys like they’re 80”, “please be normal about people aging”, etc. And on one hand, all of these statements are objectively right and true! But as someone who’s always been really fascinated by and found a lot of beauty in getting older (which I’ve explored in some of my writing on A03 because nobody else is going to do it for me), I’d like to provide a bit more nuance on how I think this label applies to David in particular.

David, obviously, in literal terms, is not “old”, at least not to me- I don’t personally consider people old until they get past 60. 52 is middle aged, simple as that. And yet, when I see David stuck with the “old man” label, it still somehow feels weirdly right, for a number of reasons.

It annoys me so much when people say David “hasn’t aged a day since Doctor Who”, because, well…

He clearly has. A lot. He’s got forehead creases, deep crows’ feet and eyebags, and I think that post-Fourteen we’re gonna see him rocking the grey temples a LOT more. He also has the voice of an older man now, his upper range is still there but the default is much more deep and rich, with a gravelly, rumbling quality that just goes straight through you. I personally think Broadchurch was when David finally started to embrace looking his age- Alec Hardy just wouldn’t have been served by Ten’s fresh-faced boyishness.

Obviously, these are the kinds of changes you’d expect any 52-year-old man to have, but something about David just makes it all seem a bit more… intense? The expressiveness of his face combined with his almost gaunt frame makes his wrinkles very prominent, and when he works his voice to its emotional extremes, his lower register can sound positively ancient, to devastating effect.

David, I think, is someone with an old soul- I don’t think he could be as good as he is at playing ancient characters like Crowley and The Doctor if he weren’t. He has lived so many lives, given so much of himself to so many characters, often incredibly tragic ones, and I think it wears on him. David also has five kids. FIVE. Do you know how exhausting it is to be one of the hardest working actors alive and be a present, loving father to even ONE child? But David somehow does it anyway! Nowadays I see him and my heart breaks because he looks so tired, so weary and fragile. But he’s all the more beautiful for it to me because I know that that is because he is kind. He’s a deeply empathetic person who feels and lives to the absolute fullest, and that story is written so clearly on his face, along with every other story he has ever been a part of.

There’s other things about David that make the label endearingly fitting- his utter hopelessness when it comes to technology, for instance. And he’s just got that warm, wise, grandpa energy too sometimes- look at that above Fourteen picture and tell me I’m wrong!

I once showed my friend who’d only seen David in Doctor Who and Harry Potter a picture of David from Around The World in 80 Days. It was a particularly emotional scene, and his face had just the most beautiful expression of compassion and sadness, every wrinkle on full display. And she said, in a less than complimentary fashion, “he looks so old!” Which, of course, offended me quite a bit at first. But to me, referring to David as old almost feels like a badge of honor, something he’s earned by living fully and selflessly, working hard and being wise and compassionate beyond his years. I think David himself is secretly more than a little insecure about the fact that he’s getting older. There’s sadness behind every jovially self-depreciating remark he’s made about his age in the past year, particularly in comparing himself to Ncuti Gatwa. I know how much David struggles with his impostor syndrome and how people perceive him, and I can clearly see in his eyes the fear of being discarded, the anxiety he feels about if he’ll still be as loved as he was back in 2007 now that he’s closer in age to King Lear than he is to Romeo. So I hope David knows it’s a privilege to watch him grow older, to watch his soul and talents deepen with the crinkles around his eyes. If I, in my silly goofy tumblr girl-ness, call David Tennant an old man, it’s because it’s a label that suits him beautifully- even if it isn’t TECHNICALLY an accurate one yet.

Make sure you read the tags on this one because it’s not your conventional fic and Louis is definitely super manipulative. But if you like the idea of secretary Harry in lingerie, CEO Louis, copious amounts of dirty talk, some power imbalance, and exhibitionism… this could be for you.

it's all for you, everything i do by @moonshinelouis (E, 2K) This short little fic is made up of one of my favorite tropes: Louis feigning disinterest while Harry begs for his attention. I really enjoy the way this author is able make their fics feel more than “just” a PWP.

pep talk turned into a pep rally by sarcasticfluentry (E, 20K) is an OT5 orgy x 2 with one being Louis-centric and one being Zayn-centric. It was written in 2014, so it’s a tiny bit dated as far as characterizations are concerned, but this author always writes well and their smut is always really hot.

I’d Do Niall by alongthewatchtower (E, 8K) I know this fic isn’t for everyone and I also know it’s pure filth. But I love everything about it. Dirty talk, Harry in panties, overwhelmed Harry, Niall trying it and not knocking it, Dom Louis vibes…all the good stuff. LOL!

You'll Breathe Me In (You Won't Release) by LoadedGunn (E, 95K) Also known as The Driving Instructor fic. This has some of the best pacing I’ve read in a fic, some really well written BDSM smut, and characters I just really enjoy. I know it’s not for everyone. Read the tags.

Are You Gonna Be My Girl? by LoadedGunn (E, 8K) Oh man….I love this one. Harry in lingerie, role play, feminization, dirty talk. It’s got it all. It’s even a Christmas fic!

You Are The Blood by sarcasticfluentry (E, 176K) If you’re a Harry Potter fan, you’ve probably read this one. But if you haven’t, what are you waiting for? I don’t even like HP and I LOVED this fic. It’s a thrilling story and it’s full of ridiculously hot smut.

like how your hands feel me up and down by ballsdeepinjesus (E, 8K) First of all, this starts with Harry in a Snow White costume which, frankly, is all you need to grab my attention. Second of all, it’s super sexy and well paced and Harry’s in makeup and lingerie and….whew. You need to read it.

down on your knees, you don't look so tall by writtensoul (E, 3K) Harry is kind of a dick in this one, but it was written in 2013 at the height of the Frat Boy Harry narrative, so keep that in mind. It's otherwise really hot.

got my eyes on you by eleadore (E, 3K) Similar set up to the one above, but Harry isn't a dick. LOL!

Go With It by embro (E, 4K) i mean, how can you go wrong with: "You thought I was someone else and started making out with me in a club and you're really hot so I just kinda went with it and now we're heading back to your place and I don't know how to break it to you"

babydoll blues by devilinmybrain / @thedevilinmybrain (E, 112K) At last, the full-fledged, dirty, sugar baby fic we needed. Harry's character is so layered and so beautifully drawn, I just fell in love with him. Louis is sexy and powerful and also tender and sweet, just how I imagine the actual Louis to be. This author wrote one of my favorite fics of 2021, so I was really excited to dive into this one. They really know how to set a scene and draw you in to their characters. Scorching smut scenes, excellent use of side characters, and some angst that fully made me cry. Definitely worth a read!

precious little thing by mercutionotromeo / @hazlouquitefinished (E, 21K) I’ve read this one so many times…it’s got it all. This time the phone sex operator is Louis, and subby Harry is just beginning to realize his daddy kink.

redder than the devil by mercutionotromeo / @hazlouquitefinished (E, 5K) This short fic has so many kinks and so much smut that I probably could add it to 10 different rec lists. I love this author and hope they keep gifting us with their writing.

Hopefully I forget again), and The Hobbit.

Hey this feels like a war crime, actually. They’re all obikin except the first.

I’d say probably dialogue, because I feel like I edit that the least, and world-building.

I avoid it, generally. I read too many fantasy books and fics back in the day where you had to flip to the glossary at the end of the book/bottom of the page for translations and it gets annoying, especially if there’s a multiple characters speaking.

Omg I had to look up my old ff.net account to check this. It was Bleach.

20. Favorite fic you’ve ever written?

I want to immediately say Anakin Skywalker, Witch. It’s my first obikin fic, my first fanfic after a long hiatus. I’ve put so much work and research into it. But Tapio has a vibe that I really enjoy, and has managed to inspire that vibe in readers so… dark horse winner is Tapio.

Bonus: What fic would you want to rewrite one day?

Probably that damn Hobbit fic. I didn’t have an editor back then so I shudder to think about what the comma situation is there.

Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? Yes, though I missed quite a few when I was on hiatus. I love engaging with readers and seeing what in my stories struck their fancy. I've made some great friends over the years through comments on my fic.

What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? There are No Innocent Vampires (31K). This is a Scarry fic (both are adults). I do have a few others.

What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Uh, most of them. But if forced to choose, Silver and Gold (70.6K) with Wolf!Draco!

Do you get hate on fics? OMG Yes. My first fic, Double Edged Sword in its earliest chapters was sporked on Deleterius. It’s a wonder I ever wrote again, but I was so pissed off at the Drarry writer who did it, I carried on. Thankfully the site went bye bye. And I also learned from that fic never ever have either Harry or Draco have an affair with Charlie Weasley. LOL. More currently, I just had to lock my current WIP this week because of a troll. ☹

Do you write smut? If so, what kind? I write both slash and het but it's not my fav thing to do. I only put it in when it fits a scene and it can take me days and days to write that scene.

What’s your all-time favourite ship? Drarry but I do write for other ships both slash and het and also Gen. I mainly read Drarry but also the others mentioned. I just really enjoy good plotty HP stories.

What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? After I finish my current WIP, The Azkaban Letters, (Drarry and Haphne) that I started in 2007, and finish another one I also started in 2007 at Christmas, I’ll be done with all WIPs I’ve posted on AO3.  I do have a few in my personal files. One, which I have 30K written for and it’s Scarry. It's the Scarry one I have my doubts about.

What are your writing strengths? Plot and world building. Some folks like my dialogue.  I try. 

What are your writing weaknesses? Well besides the smut already mentioned, character analysis and slow burn. Definitely more of action/adventure writer.

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? No no no.  Did it once for Double Edged Sword. It was in Russian for which I had a translator or 3 write out the text for me and give me final approval. To this day I still get Russian readers disagreeing with the text.

First fandom you wrote for? Harry Potter and still here.

Favourite fic you’ve written? This is hard, but for personal reasons, I’d have to say This Ain’t the Garden of Eden. It was the first story I wrote after an almost ten-year break. I do my absolute best to!!! The main reason I write fanfic is because I love the community around it! But sometimes I have to choose between responding to comments or working on the fic they commented on and I get the feeling that people would prefer that I write the fic rather than respond to their comments XD

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I’m not much of one for angsty endings, I love angsty beginnings/middles, but I like to end on hope. So that being said, I do have an incredibly angsty ending that I might write for worth living for i might also go the sappy happy ending i originally had in mind. i might do both. who knows.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

since I already answered the previous one with a fic that doesn’t have an actual ending, i’ll avoid saying how like home for this one since that technically does not have an ending. instead, i’ll say This Is Our Salvation a real world-ish drarry AU that’s kinda weird but is the second fic that came to mind and not enough people have read it to be able to contradict me so yeehaw baby

much less now that I moderate comments on how like home! but yeah I do still sometimes get it, and it’s a bummer

not often, but like I love the community around fanfic, and people are weird about commenting on and interacting with explicit fics so it’s just not what I gravitate towards with my extremely limited writing time these days

gonna combine these previous two into one because i once had someone use google translate to translate my fic into spanish and then posted it to wattpad (all without notifying me, as i request in my permissions statement on ao3) and what’s hilarious is spanish is the one language i’d be able to tell that it’s google translated rather than earnestly translated. i’ve had other people request to translate hlh to other languages, i gave them the go ahead, but as far as i can tell, nothing ever came of that

a couple times! the longest fic I co-wrote is no longer on my ao3 for various reasons, but I also worked with minryll on the aforementioned phoenixes are pests and @yes-i-am-happyaspie have a fic we’re co-writing that i SWEAR i will get back to!!!

i don’t like… go that hard for romantic ships.

i will finish all my wips i swear to god. i will be eighty fucking years old chipping away at these bitches if i must, but they WILL be finished.

introspection baby! unfortunately that means my characters are probably way more emotionally intelligent than they should be based on canon but such is life

summarizing. there’s a reason hlh spans like. two weeks of time. that’s because i hate summarizing when i could spell out everything that happens. and i know it’s a problem and i’m working on it!!! but like not as hard as i should because it’s hardddddd 😭

I haven’t really run into this issue, but hypothetically I’d need to find a confident speaker of the language to give my dialogue a pass before I’d be willing to publish it

The mother of all ships. The queen of Enemies to Lovers. There are so many things I should say about tis ship yet words fail me. Just KNOW that the fucking hand flex scene changed me. The scene where they dance and hate fuck each other with their eyes defined me. The scene in the 1995 version where Darcy is watching Lizzie distract Georgianna at the piano altered my brain chemistry. I love all versions of this forever and ever.

NGL, that's a tough one - both because i have, as of the time of writing, 170 published works on AO3 (how did this happen!!??), but also because, well. i am Very Bad at choosing and self-promo, so... i'll use the response i got from readers to guide me.

i've answered for HP fic then rambled about other fandoms. And now i should post this before i tweak even more, change my mind about the picks, etc.

If i stick to Harry Potter fics, i'd go with: > Realisations, because it's been recced by others (!!!), and it's first-person narrative, which is a nice challenge to write. i went into it wanting to see if i could do first-person smut, but of course it's mostly feels. If anyone had told me, back when I was still a Hogwarts student, that I’d have a crush on the one and only Severus Snape – dungeon bat, greasy git, Death Eater, etc – I would definitely have laughed. Or, more likely, screamed at you, maybe tried to hex you, and assumed you were a Voldemort supporter.

> The Box, because it's Petunia-centric and it was recced as well (!!!!!). Petunia is a fascinating character, when you take a step back from the children's book trope and try to see what made her the way she is, what would make a person become Petunia Dursley. Petunia Dursley is a sensible woman; she’s always been. She’s not the kind to get all fanciful and trust shady people, oh no. She knows only too well what happens when you do.

> The Fair - look, i managed a short fic for Snape Case! It's child Sev centric and his parents. Like i do with Petunia, i want to delve into Eileen and Tobias. We don't know much about them, but i like to think about the circumstances that made made Tobias hate magic, that led them both to neglect Severus, that resulted in what little we see of them. i like to think that they loved each other and their son, once. They feature in several of my HP works. He was still hungry afterwards, but he didn’t say anything. He’s only six, but he’s not a dunderhead! He’s heard his parents whisper angrily at each other, heard his dad ask why his mum can’t magic them some money. Every time he does, his mum shakes her head and says she can’t, and every time, his dad goes out and slams the door and comes back after Severus is in bed.

Daredevil AHAHAHAHA omg. What ship? What mood? egads, there are so many. i don't know! i wrote mostly Matt/Frank, Matt/Elektra, and Matt/Foggy.

If i may, i'll start by saying i consider what i do as event admin for @daredevilexchange, @frattweek, and @themattfogblog as work i'm proud of, even if technically they're not fics i've written (well, i did participate several times ;-).

But as for my fics... there's a lot in that fandom and i really can't pick 5, so let's go with some rare pairs, like Matt/Venom/Eddie (Snacks at the Laundromatt), or Matt/Tony Stark (Court Crush), Matt/Cap (Through Your Eyes), or Matt/Hawkeye (Hawkguy and the Devil). There's even Matt/Loki, Green Sleeves! And there's gen as well.

And actually, this is the occasion to remember @dichotomystudios, who unexpectedly passed away a year ago. Her many contributions to the fandom ranged from wonderful art, great canon knowledge, heart-warming cheerleading, dedicated work as part of the SaveDaredevil campaign... to being a friend to many in the fandom. She created three art pieces for The Littlest Catholic, a Frank/Matt fluff, angst, and humour fic featuring dollhouses. We talked a lot about it, exchanged ideas, giggled like loons... she is very missed.

For those of you struggling with Ikea furniture, may i point you to Nailed It for some Schadenfreude - but really, i wrote several Fratt fics going for the lulz (crosswords flirting, dating app adventures...), and i hope readers enjoy them. Also, there's a dog in the Lucy series, and a cat in a fic titled (i kid you not) The Fratt Cat. Yes, i am good at titles. Oh! And the Dog POV fic: A Good Dog !

Let's also mention Crossing the Styx, which was a writing collaboration with @pixelbypixelfanfic. i don't think i could have a better experience with anyone else <3 we wrote this over... oh, over more than a year, and i think in the final result it's really hard to say who wrote what.

There's some more MCU/Marvel stuff, mostly Loki-centric, some shippy like Frayed Threads (Loki/Steve Rogers, there's not enough of you) and some not like in the religion of the insecure (i must be myself) (mentioning that one because lookit, i too can do the all-lowercase song lyrics with brackets title thing!).

i was lucky to collaborate with several artists who are also friends in the general Marvel fandom - @rrr-nightingale and Iithril, looking at you <3 - and @metaderivative podficced several works, including the Dog POV one :D

i dabbled in other fandoms (my What We Do In The Shadows fics are more feelsy than humour, with bonus focus on Zoroastrianism for the second one), the Good Omens one is pre-TV show and not vibing with today's fandom, we should simply forget about the old, old Star Trek TOS stuff, and then there's the whole Lucifer catalogue. i started writing again because of that fandom, but it's also one of the few that i've left behind, for Reasons. However, out of the *checks* 52 fics i wrote there, there's also some fluff, some angst, some smut, some plot. Even the de-aging plots, the mega depression fics, the Latin titles, the let's think real hard about death fics, the bodies and sex are hard omg fics, mixing humour and feels, having religious themes (Lucifer angsts about being Lucifer! Matt Murdock decides to become a monk!!) etc. I did start several trends of mine there ;-)

Sorry for the ramblings; i figured you wanted only the HP stuff but i wasn't 100% sure. i have a small enough number of HP fic out for now so it's easier to pick 5, but for the rest? ...nah, can't °_°;;;

  “Ron, all I’m saying is that we could have definitely died.” I explained, chaos around us as we all rushed to the courtyard.

   “Yeah sure, but it was cool. Y/N had some good spells, better than Hermione I’d say.” Ron responded, Hermione quickly hitting the back of his head. Ron clutched onto his head as he gave Hermione a painful look. They’re in love alright.

  “Still, that was dangerous.” I stated, taking a seat on a nearby bench. Hermione was going on about Ron and the misfits he’s caused this term. She was determined to make him feel stupid. And for what it’s worth, I would have too if he tested my brilliance. Though, I still don’t think I’m all that, regardless of what has happened.

  “Brainless Weasely, your mother would be so disappointed if she knew you sneaked off during our meal times to gamble in the common rooms!” Hermione spat. All Ron could do was look at her with eyes begging for forgiveness. I giggled.

   We had just come from the forest, but it was a dangerous trip. We had no idea we’d be running from death eaters, who were specifically on the look out for me. It’s been two months since I beat Voldemort, and though there’s not many of them, they’re envious. I’ve been quite careful about where I go, especially with my friends involved. I know I can beat them, but why take the risk?

   “Y/N, those spells were pretty great. You could teach me sometime.” I said, looking straight at her. A nervous chuckle was all I received. 

   Me and Y/N have had a pretty complicated past few weeks. We like each other, but I don’t want to endanger her. I’ll admit, I want to be official, with the labels and all. I’ve seen how Draco looks at her, and not to sound pettish, but I want her to myself. I know I don’t have to worry though, he hasn’t spoken to me since the war. It’s been exhausting for everyone, even ones like Draco. We all know he wasn’t trying to come back, but something in him did.

   “Yeah, of course. Maybe when we see each other this Christmas?” She questioned. I forgot, she had invited me to her cottage for Christmas. 

   “Guys! Don’t forget, we’re doing our holiday party after Christmas at Ron’s! Lots of pudding and sweets Mrs. Malfoy and I are cooking up!” Hermione exclaimed. I shot her a grin, of course I would be there. 

   “I’m going to practice some quidditch for a bit. Anyone care to join? Harry?” Ron interrupted, standing from the bench. I shook my head at him, I really didn’t feel like getting on a broom right now. Hermione got up pretty quickly, she always followed Ron, wherever he went, she was there. Possibly to make sure he wasn’t being stupid, but also because she loved him and wanted to be there for everything.

   An awkward silence fell as the two left, leaving me and Y/N alone. I looked over at her, she was reading a book about advanced potions. If you ask me, she’s brilliant, always a step ahead of everyone. Her and Hermione were the smart ones. Me and Ron were lucky.

   “Y/N, I’ve been meaning to talk to you.” I said in a low voice. She looked at me confused, but I’ve been meaning to ask her on a proper date. Hermione said she’d set up a nice table for us in the common rooms this evening if Y/N said yes. I wanted to show Y/N that I want to be more than friends, to show her I wanted to be official, despite my fears of endangering her. I knew I could protect her.

   “Uh, you see, I do like you Y/N, a lot. I want to show you that I do, but I know everything’s been a mess, but please I-” I stammered, her hand being placed on mind  cutting me off entirely. She smiled, that gorgeous smile of hers.

   “Harry, I like you a lot too. I want to be yours, in every universe and every lifetime.” She said, her hand continuing to rub mine.

   I was never good with words, maybe except for spells and nonsense, not with my emotions. I couldn’t help but blush. She was perfect.

   Without thinking, I slammed my lips onto hers. We moved in perfect sync, letting go after a few moments. Maybe Y/N didn’t speak much, but she felt a lot of things. All I know, is that we were feeling the same in this moment.

   “You’re beautiful, Y/N. Join me for dinner tonight in the Common Room?” I asked, carefully caressing her cheek. She gave me a wide grin, nodding her head yes. I couldn’t help but kiss her again.

   She’s all that matters to me, especially right now.

⭐️ i’d be excited to hear literally anything about tales of the vampiric, ghostly, or otherwise unholy residents of the penderwick house!

omg you're the best. get ready for some strong oversharing!

ok, i don't have a whole lot in the way of background information, moreso i have origins of various elements.

The fic itself was born from a bizarre bout of depression I experienced during the summer of 2021, where I found myself almost constantly listening to explicit harry potter podfics throughout the day. As part of my strategy to get myself out of this hole, I set some specific routines for myself to follow everyday, including something my therapist called Morning Pages, where I had to write three pages in my notebook every morning of whatever I wanted. As the penderwicks have always been my comfort characters, particularly Jane, most of what i wrote revolved around them. One of my favourite movies, especially at the time, was also what we do in the shadows (2014). it's so ridiculous and i love the premise of a bunch of dumbass vampires living in a house together. Long story short, this fic was born out of me trying to make myself laugh during a rough month.

The footnotes!!! They're a pain in the ass to code (again thank you to "The Nice and Accurate Guide to Footnotes" by Vigs on Ao3 for explaining it in such a user-friendly way - I would have been completely lost without this guide) but were SO much fun. I truly went ham with them on chapter two and almost definitely will do the same on chapter three (the draft already has several). Anyway, these 1000% came from my 2021 good omens obsession. I was reading a lot of good omens fic at the time, many of which included hilarious footnotes (the way the book does) and i was dying to try it. somewhere, deep in my wips, I have a series plan where jane visits a bunch of weird bookshops (also born from the Morning Pages), and vol 3 is a crossover where jane visits aziraphales bookshop lol, so lmk if anyone's interested in that!

finally!! my favourite character in the whole fic is actually probably lydia. she hasn't been featured a ton in the chapters so far, but somewhere I have her bakcstory written out (more Morning Pages) and it's HARROWING!!! I love the idea of her being a washed-up but very young vaudeville dancer in the 20s. a lot of ch3 is going into her world more and it's so much fun, i adore her.

Also!!! tommy's a trans guy. this is completely irrelevent to the plot, but i know it in my heart.

Bergamot and Black Tea

Moonstone that I got from TK Maxx. I don’t actually know what it’s meant to be but it’s so so good.

My own (self plug) Velaris wax melts that smell like bergamot, night blooming jasmine, sandalwood and a teensy bit of vanilla ☺️✨

A perfect autumn day would be started off with waking up when it’s still a little chilly, and getting a maple iced latte, or an Earl grey. Then I’d wrap up with one of my many tartan scarves and go for a beautiful walk with lots of trees so I could crunch in the leaves! Then when I got a bit too chilly, I’d come home and watch a cosy autumn film, most likely Harry Potter. Theeeen I would have a super hot bath with a Lush bomb, and then read with hot chocolate!!☺️🍂🍁

Omg, so many Dream headcanons but I’m gonna limit myself to three because we all know what’ll happen.

-I feel that he would adore anything arty. Galleries, museums, craft fairs and markets, anything where he can see what humans can create with time and love. He’d love to try all the different treats like fudge, pastries and treats, hot chocolate (👀) anything he can get his hands on. It reminds him that his faith in the world shouldn’t be so lost, that there is still beauty left. He also loves it when you read to him.

-You stroke this man’s hair, he’s a goner. He’d be sitting there one day and you absently run a hand through those fluffy raven locks and he utterly melts. Then it develops into a time where he’s so tired, or he’s drained from creating dreams and nightmares and he lays his head down in your lap and you instantly start coming through his hair, rubbing his scalp and his face completely relaxes. He lets out a soft sigh, all the tension draining from his body and eventually the Lord of Dreams falls asleep with his head in your lap. ✨

-He loves it when the weather is super intense. Wind, storms, snow, rain, anything wild and untamed. He loves to see the sheer beauty and ferocity of nature being allowed to claim back a world that has been overrun with technology. He’ll stand out in those storms or snow, head tipped to the sky even as the rain pelts down in his face, that faint smile on his lips and his arms spread slightly out as he just feels it snd takes it in. 🌧️

I ADORE P!nk! I’ve actually been lucky enough to see her live twice (she was my first ever concert) and she is absolutely incredible I cannot recommend it enough if you get the chance.

Pride and Prejudice is also one of my favourite movies of all time! I was recently to be able to go to Chatsworth house which is Pemberly House in the film and it was absolutely STUNNING. Yes I’ve seen the Darcy statue in person. Yes it also made me fall in love with him.

As for concerts I have been to~ my first ever concert was Aerosmith! While I love all kinds of music, one of my favorite concerts to catch is Brad Paisley! I love going to festivals in the summer since you never know who you might meet. I once was at six flags in CA and meet a country star Joe Nichols who rode the ride in the seat before me and I rode with his manager. It was awesome!! I also got to meet Toby Keith in MD! (I’ve moved a bit so seen shows all over) I’ve lost count how many concerts I’ve been 2!

I would LOVE to visit Jane Austin Weekend in Hyde Park ~a literary retreat!! I love a lot of her books and admire her for all she went through to become a writer.

Also I’d love to visit Harry Potter - Wizard Retreat Weekend! I’ve been to the theme parks and rode the rides and seen sets but a whole weekend 🙃 would be fun I think.

As for how I’m doing - thanks to the holiday today’s my last work day till Wednesday!! So excited 😆 to have off work and I’m going to meet up with friends in PA for some shopping at a Amish flea market and of course Chocolate world .. I mean it’s chocolate 🍫 !!

to make yourself a bit happier you decide to just enter Honeydukes quickly to buy some candies

yall say your goodbyes and you enter the shop alone

you go straight to the aisle you know you'd find the candy bars you were craving

"oh, well, look who's here, my favorite hufflepuff ever"

you speak just as your lover boy is about to pick a chocolate bar from the shelf

the infamous Lee Sangyeon turns around to look at you with a expression that reminded you of a deer caught in the headlights

you can't believe you're just so lucky to meet him like this

he looks sooooo cute wearing all black while his sets of scarf and beanie proudly show his house colors!!!

his cheeks and nose are red from the wind outside

and he's wearing specs

and you make small talk

you feel so lucky to meet him all alone in you favorite place ever

and it's pretty clear that he enjoys talking to you and that he's super happy to be with you

sangyeon glances at you quickly before waving at his friends

"no no, you guys go ahead, i think i'll stay for a while" and he smiles at you

you wave at his friends too, noticing hyunjae is among them giving you a thumbs up while smirking

and suddenly you’re so shy

blushing like a tomato and doubting yourself and that courage you had just seconds ago 

“wow, i didn’t know slytherins could blush” WAS SANGYEON MOCKING YOU? bitch- this guy has the audacity-

“w-what?”

“well, i barely said something, but you sure look really cute when you’re blushing, it doesn’t matter the reason” SO SANGYEON IS FINALLY SHAMELESSLY FLIRTING WITH YOU BUT YOU JUST CAN'T ANSWER BECAUSE YOU’RE SO FLUSTERED!!!!

and here comes the part that almost gave you a heart attack

‘Well, its fun to read.’ Cho shrugged. ‘If you were in Ravenclaw, you could be reading diverse romances instead of those stupid muggle books you like so much. For example, what’s this you’re reading?’

She snatched your book and looked at the words you’d been reading.

‘Real love is rare but fake words and promises are everywhere.’ She read out before looking at you. ‘See, this is why you feel so lonely, Y/N. if you’re gonna be reading miserable books like that, then I can’t blame you for being droopy most of the time.’

‘It’s not miserable, Cho.’ You contradicted. ‘It’s a little something called reality.’

Cho snorted. ‘Whatever you say.’

‘Besides, I’m not always lonely.’ You continued. ‘I have Hermione and Ron... and Harry too.’

‘And Harry too!’ Cho mocked. ‘Blimey, Y/N I forgot to ask. How’s things between you two?’

At that you looked down. ‘I don’t know what you’re talking about.’

Even though you weren’t looking at her, you could almost feel her roll her eyes.

‘You’re lovesick, darling.’ Cho explained. ‘You get this weird glow on your face when you talk about him and your eyes form hearts like in those muggle comics you read. Also, when he’s around, you blush like a tomato. Tell me how this is incorrect?’

You sighed. ‘None of your business, Cho Chang. So what if I like him? I’m probably the 100th girl who does. He has a pretty wide collection of choices, you know. Take Ginny for example. She’s everything I’m not. She’s pretty, popular, outgoing AND she is sweet. I’m a loner, too sarcastic to have too many friends, and it’s not like I can help it anyway. He’d never like me.’

‘Sweetie, what is there not to like in you?’ Cho asked worriedly.

It was one of the many reasons you liked her, she always paid attention to your moods and constantly asked if you were alright.

‘Y’know what Cho, let’s leave it.’ You muttered. ‘I promised Ron I’d help him with his essay anyway. He’s probably eating in the common room. Bye.’

You gave a nod and walked off, but you could feel Cho’s eyes watching you thoughtfully.

As you walked into the common room, a chorus of noises greeted you.

‘Fine, I’ll give you five galleons I can.’ Harry was saying.

‘Alright mate, whatever you say.’ Said Ron.

‘Five galleons you can do what?’ you questioned, walking up to them.

Harry immediately coughed nervously. ‘Ahem, Y/N! Hi! Ron here was betting I couldn’t, er, sneak down to the kitchens.’

‘If you know Fred and George, doesn’t seem impossible.’ You said in amusement.

‘Someone summon us?’ a voice called behind you as you turned to see Fred standing there.

‘Oh, yeah.’ You spoke. ‘Ron here thinks Harry can’t sneak down to the kitchens, so he put five galleons on that. I was just explaining how anybody who knew you two could probably sneak off to Mars unnoticed.’

‘We are honoured.’ George bowed to you. ‘But Ron, mate, weren’t you betting that Harry couldn’t ask o-’

‘NO, I WASN’T!’ Ron bellowed, causing you to miss what George said.

George’s expression immediately changed.

‘Harry couldn’t ask what?’ you asked.

‘The house elves to make him some food.’ Fred casually spoke.

You narrowly looked at him.

‘Boys.’ You finally muttered, going upstairs.

You were trying to wrench your bag out of the spot it had decided to get caught in, when a voice startled you.

‘Here, let me help.’

You turned around to see none other than the Chosen One himself.

‘Oh, thanks.’ You said nervously as Harry yanked the bag out of the door.

You grabbed it and turned to leave.

‘Er, Y/N?’ you heard Harry ask.

‘Yeah?’

‘I was wondering if, um, you’d... y-you’d like to go to Hogsmeade with me?’ Harry asked.

Your eyes grew wide. ‘Are you asking me out? Like on a date?’

‘Erm, yes.’ He said.

‘Oh.’ You managed to squeak. ‘Oh, Oh! Um, y-yeah, alright, s-sure!’

He flashed you one of his stupidly adorable grins. ‘Brilliant!

You and Harry had been dating for a few weeks now.

But something was terribly wrong.

Harry had started acting horribly distant, sometimes ignoring you or trying to walk past you in the corridors.

You were on your way to the common room. wondering whatever you could have done to upset him, when his voice caught you before you entered.

‘Ron, I can’t do this anymore.’ He spoke. ‘I know I agreed to your dare that I couldn’t ask Y/N out, but I can’t do this. I’ll give you your galleons, don’t worry.’

‘Well, alright mate.’ You heard Ron say. ‘But I thought you were happy-’

‘I’m not.’

That was enough for you to choke a sob and run off to the deserted Quidditch Pitch.

So that’s what it was.

A dare.

Harry didn’t want to be with you, heck he didn’t even enjoy it.

You kicked away stones in anger, remembering Cho’s voice.

Real love is rare but fake words and promises are everywhere.

That was exactly what the past few weeks were.

Fake love, fake words, fake smiles, fake promises.

It was all fake.

Your thoughts were cut short, as a pair of shoes came skipping by.

‘Oh.’ You heard a familiar voice.

No, go away, please. You thought. I hate you, don’t come near me.

‘Hey, love.’ Harry grinned.

You tried not to gag. ‘Why’re you calling me that?’

He frowned. ‘D-do you not l-like it?’

‘No.’ you coldly responded. ‘You’re here to break up, aren’t you?’

‘What how did you-’ Harry began.

'Is this what this whole relationship was to you? A bloody dare?’ you asked through your tears.

Harry’s eyes widened. ‘You heard...?’

‘Yes, I heard.’ You said. ‘Harry Potter, don’t you ever dare speak to me again.’

With that, you stalked off.

Even though you’d convinced yourself you’d never speak to him, you couldn’t help but worry about Harry.

The third task was near, and you were wondering if he’d make it.

He’s made it this far, hasn’t he? You thought. He’ll manage, stop thinking about him.

Sitting in the arena, waiting for him to emerge out of the maze, you couldn’t take it anymore.

‘Cho... if he’s back, just let me know.’ You informed the black-haired Ravenclaw, turning to leave.

Just as you turned, a cheer erupted as you whipped around to see Harry carrying something and lying face-front on the ground.

Everyone was cheering, but you squinted at what he was carrying, trying to make out what it was.

When you focused for long enough, your hands flew to your mouth as you let out a blood-curdling scream.

Cedric Diggory’s body.

And it wasn’t moving.

‘Is he... can I see him?’ you asked Madame Pomphrey.

‘Well, I’m sure he’s asleep, dear.’ She answered, frowning. ‘But in you go.’

You thanked her and went inside.

Harry was not sleeping, but he looked terrible.

‘Oh, Harry.’ You sighed, walking to him.

Still not looking at you, he spoke. ‘You still hate me.’

‘No, I-’ you began. ‘I... I don’t. I’m sorry if I made you feel like that.’

‘I should be the one apologising.’ He said quietly.

You sighed. ‘I’ll be late for Charms... see you soon, Harry.’

You bent down to place a kiss on his cheek.

At that moment, he turned his head abruptly, causing your lips to collide.

Gasping, you pulled back.

Entire body trembling with giddiness, you walked to your class.

After your little ‘encounter’, Harry went back to ignoring you.

You were sick of it, and one day, while he was returning from Hagrid’s cabin, you cornered him.

‘You can’t hide forever, you know.’ You spoke seriously, arms crossed over your chest.

He didn’t look at you.

Sighing, you stepped forward. ‘We need to talk.’

His head snapped up to meet your eyes.

‘There’s nothing to talk about. I kissed you and you pulled away. End of story.’ He casually said.

‘No, it’s not the end of story.’ You snapped. ‘How could you even, first you fake-date me and then this, I mean for Merlin’s sake Harry, a kiss is supposed to mean something and I-’

‘What makes you think it didn’t mean anything?’ he asked softly.

You gaped at him. ‘You said... you dated me because of a dare and then-’

‘Oh.’ He interrupted. ‘Oh. That’s why you were upset. Oh my god, Y/N, you totally misunderstood me. I... was talking to Ron because I felt that I wasn’t being fair to you... I like you, Y/N. I truly do, and I wanted to date you as well, but I was worried what you’d think when I’d explained it was a dare! And th-then I came to tell you all this, but you seemed so sad, I thought you hated me. Don’t ever think like that, Y/N. That kiss meant everything it was supposed to.’

You remained silent.

Harry blushed and awkwardly scratched his neck. ‘Uhm... and I-I’d like to try that again...’

Your eyes widened as you turned red.

Swallowing your nerves, you leaned forward as he mirrored your actions and met you halfway.

And this time, neither of you pulled back.

Hannah and Bea watch Star Wars

A few weeks ago, my bestie @floatyteabag (Hannah) and I (Bea) watched Star Wars: Attack of the Clones together. I, being a lifelong Star Wars nerd and a lover of all things Obi-Wan, somehow managed to rope this awesome human into watching the second sequel with me, keeping in mind she had never seen them before.

This is some of our live commentary, lacking in any context, which I felt needed to be shared with you all. I’m also leaving absolutely no indication as to who said what, to make it even funnier.

This was genuinely the most fun I’ve had watching a Star Wars movie with anyone. Han’ is hilarious and together we destroyed the movie while ironically loving it. We’ve watched ROTS, up next is Solo. And I actually cannot wait for that trainwreck.
