"I think that's a great fic idea" good news, it is, or something very similar. Inspiration is very clearly taken from @/turtletaubwrites series Numbers Game. The reader is a financial advisor who worked for Buggy, who then ends up under Croc and Mihawk because Buggy gets in trouble for ignoring her advice and fucking up the financials. Not trying to start anything, I don't think it's stealing to riff on smth but people should maybe be a bit more up front abt where they take inspiration from. At least give the OG a shout out lol

This is one of those things where there’s not an easy cut and dry answer I can give you or agree with, and I’m going to do my best to lay out why that is.

Is it possible the idea came from the person you’re referencing, but looking at the interactions for the first chapter I don’t see Alexa anywhere, not in the likes or comments.

I don’t even see anyone I follow in there either - which is to say that fandoms are HUGE and we don’t actually all know one another. (And that’s not to say there isn’t overlap in moots, just not with that particular story.)

Now, it’s possible there’s proof somewhere, but my point is that it is statistically just as possible that it’s just a similar idea. I wrote Quicksand’s reader as being a good office worker and coordinator - they weren’t specifically the accountant, but that could also be where the idea came from.

Reader being a competent and useful person makes sense when you’re talking about the Cross Guild. Neither Crocodile nor Mihawk are particularly patient people, and Buggy is enough frustration/comedic relief on his own.

If I shouted out to everyone who had inspired every part of what I write I’d hit tumblr’s post character limit before I got to the story itself. There’s a balance in there somewhere but it can honestly be case by case.

Despite your claim of not trying to start something it very much feels like you are, and while I appreciate you wanting to see credit given where it’s due, inspiration is so interwoven and complex, it’s hard to say exactly where an idea comes from for someone. So I’m going to assume that the vibes are unintentional - I’m sure you very much mean well. (If clarification is needed I’m not experiencing any negative emotions as I say this. I’m worried the vibes are there, but I will believe they were not meant.)

Heck, I had a story idea for a Eustass kid story I was (still am) excited about and when I shared it with my friends someone mentioned it was similar to something Mombat on Wattpad had wrote. And they’re right! The setup of the reader was similar - but I didn’t scrap the story idea because the story itself is going to be different.

And I know it is gonna be different, cause I had read that story by Mombat with my own eyes! And honestly it’s very likely where the inspiration sparked, even though I didn’t consciously make the connection until someone said something.

But there’s bound to be a lot of similar ideas in a singular fandom, because we’re all working with the same source material.

Now, I appreciate the intent, cause we all wanna look out for one another and such, but calling out possible sources of inspiration is maybe a bit much. Though I will say if there’s a dozen points of commonality, then it’s probably worth the mention.

here’s a bit of food for thought - Eustass Kid calling the reader Mouse is something I’m fairly well known for, and it wasn’t even my idea - and the friend I picked it up from had picked it up from someone else. Kaku calls reader Filly in most my one-shots but that’s from another friend. Penguin and Shachi calling reader lil’ Shoal was all my idea, but also I wouldn’t be surprised if someone else thought it up too.

Now, my long and exhausting reply aside, I do want to thank you for putting turtleaub on my radar. Her writing looks wonderful and I love how organized the blog and posts are. I am delighted to have something new to read even if my to read list is painfully long already. And there’s a possibility of making a new friend somewhere in there too \o/

absolutely favorite beloveds:

ghosting by antimonicacid: really fantastic character study for claude and dimitri. honestly has one of my favorite pre ts dimitris in a fic bar none maybe. this has very quintessential dmcl energy bc theyre so… gentle w each other in this fic? idk i love it. great dedue cameo

the last chapter is explicit but not… necessary for resolution so if it’s not you’re thing you can not read that part.

the ground all around, it was always holy by themorninglark: really beautiful pre ts dimitri character study from claude’s perspective. the writing in this fic is stunning, and the development of their relationship is so compelling and wonderful. this one sort of breaks my heart but it’s not sad the writing just kind of makes me ache a bit.

dreams, they’re for those who sleep by longboyzone: really intimate moment near the end of white clouds that really captured me. i’ve reread this one a lot and i think abt it. also features gentle dmcl. would recommend the other two one shots by this author as well. they’re all really good

celestially written by aetherae: this fic is so good to me i’m obsessed with it? the whole series actually. it just hits so many dmcl buttons for me but basically it’s a joint route vw/am fic where claude takes the hit for dimitri after gronder rather than rodrigue. except like instead of being abt any of that it’s like 13k of people gossiping abt when dmcl is actually gonna get together and it’s. so. good. the outsider pov dmcl in this one just hits idk what else to say. they also have a bunch of other dmcl fics i’ve read that are really good but they’ve written like 30+ fe fics so i’d say just check their profile out!

lion in the mist by trilies: this fic has really stuck so me since i first read it probably because it’s so unique? this has claude (+ the deer) coming across dimitri midskip while traveling to fraldarius. i really love how both dimitri and claude are handled in this fic, idk you can tell the author is handling them both deliberately and with care? and the atmosphere this fic creates is really fantastic. they also are rather prolific so i’d check out their page as well. bc they have so much good dmcl

wear your colours by metallic_sweet: okay i said i wouldn’t do anything you could find on the first few pages of the ao3 tag but this was my first joint route fic and it lives in my heart for a lot of reasons. honest to god some of the best fe3h world building i’ve read in a fic like fodlan feels like a place here that contains 3 nations with distinct cultures. also this fic really takes seriously how dark the world of fodlan truly is without making dmcl ‘darker’ than they are as well? it’s a delicate balance and they do it fantastically. has an unfinished sequel (also worth reading—the whole series is, but dmcl isn’t the focus of every fic) that breaks my heart every day.

This chapter was pretty early on in 19days—So that must mean Mo Guan Shan has done this a lot more since, right??😳 and he didn’t even rlly know HT that well at this point so...he must be in heat on the low for HT by now 🥵🥵

So it canonically confirms at least a base physical attraction from the start—and c’mon if this isn’t the most relatable thing ever. Soon as I get an attraction to someone I’m a bit piqued to find out their zodiac. Mo Guan Shan’s hidden curiosity for HT is lwk so cute.

It def suggests that MGS has an under the surface lvl (where he can’t even detect it) pull to understand and get closer to HT.

I feel like OX wants us to read between the lines.

And if you see it that way, it really makes it seem like Mo is having a sexuality crisis here. And I think it’s what OX was building up to around that time bcuz it was around after the kiss happened.

It rlly makes me believe MGS genuinely thinks getting a shot in his ass will somehow societally and with unspoken words “expose” him and miraculously express to others that he likes it up the ass—bcuz u cannot tell me that dream and what those bullies were saying weren’t his damn paranoia demons talking

I think a dream interpreter could stretch it enough to say that the bullies are a metaphor of his own insecurities towards his homosexuality and particularly towards his upcoming bottoming feelings. Like he’s legit scared of a hospital needle in his butt—this is not straight behavior. And then we have He Tian to the rescue—(and do you see his look and his flirtatious line) and omg he’s gripping the shit out of his ass in the dream. He’s both being bullied for his bottom-ness and guilty-pleasure getting one rubbed out by He Tian. Like ok, have ur cake and eat it then bitch.

This was a moment leading up to the kiss. MGS was staring (probably admiring while also judging and heating up over HT) He Tian while he was playing BSKTBall—and As a BL writer myself can’t help but to think HT noticed MGS very not-straightly stare at him with a sort of sexual attraction he had towards him on the field.

Like cmon?? I doubt OX writes lines like these for no reason.

I feel like...at least irl...The eyes usually give it away if someone is interested in you or not. you can always see if someone is checking you out and noticing you in a different light like it just has different vibe and feel to it. OX was def trying to show and not tell with this panel that MGS has noticed HT and stares at him in the way we all hope he does. We don’t really get to see and (and I guess it keeps us on our toes and keeps us wondering if the little redhead could actually be falling for HT)—so it’s very subtle, but it is there, and once you notice it you’re like d a m n this makes the kiss scene so much more hopeful (at least for me).

I think this was the push that gave HT hopes to kiss MGS in the first place and it gets overlooked. How do you think HT own curiosity peeked? I think as a community we often think abt Mo and how he developed feelings or will develop feelings for HT but rarely do we ever questions The Who what when where and how He Tian came to like Mo himself. I have my own feelings about them that I can’t explain in this post, least it gets off-topic, but I think it’s very important.

I think his comment “Do I really disgust you that much” makes more sense in this context, of MGS giving HT some reassurance through non-verbal ques. HT was already under the impression that MGS was egging him on with his staring so it can warrant some of He Tian’s confusion. HT probably is pursuing MGS bc he probably senses some lvl of homosexual tension from Mo, and it’s exciting to him. Not only that, but MGS is exciting in his character. So I think HT was also relatively new to this venture and kinda spontaneously kissed Mo out of his own curioustes to explore their attractions and to get a grasp of what Mo was feeling.

It also makes me think HT and MGS experienced some undeniable pleasure or unspoken moment that could not be denied within the kiss as attraction and when MGS then decided to go agaisnt that with violence it only further hit HT, who knew MGS was lying to himself. I mean, it’s a classic BL moment. The two kiss, obviously feel smth (probably couldn’t show much of that due to censorship so had to pass it along as a 100% unsatisfactory exchange) and then one, feeling too much all at once and isn’t comfortable with their confirmed suspensions abt their sexuality—denies everything to the other causing further tensions especially sense both know how eachother really feel despite the others denial. And then the rejected one downplays the kiss’ seriousness to soothe their ego knowing full well the kiss meant smth. So they both internalize what the other said and both feel rejected, but both actually liked it. It’s a classic.

I truly feel that if it wasn’t due to censorship, that the kissing scene would’ve looked a lot more consensual than so forceful and wrong. Like it would’ve been taken as an tension filled “experimentation” that we see a lot in BLs and it only further ties into why MGS would be so bashful whenever the kiss is mentioned, and why HT can use it As a leverage over Mo (“don’t make me kiss you again”) bcuz it brings them back to thy moment where HT experienced some “answer” between Mo and that answer was fulfilling even tho it cannot be fulfilled and probably HT is hoping that maybe one day if he teases him enough about it they can share another kiss one that is a lot less rushed and now that they are closer, will lead to a better result.

Anyways those are my speculations. And I actually have written a short story based on these assumptions(focused on the kiss—and it’s also leading up to a jealously fic) but ofc I haven’t written it in ahwile haha. Just thought it was worth sharing since I noticed 19 days has been updating pretty “eh” lately.

it’s all because of the random zhongli dream anon 😭 i couldn’t get him out of my mind until i wrote a loooong fic for him. the idea of his darling being with him since the archon war days is my favorite! i’ve always had a soft spot for it, ever since i was trying to figure out what a yandere zhongli might look like back in november. it’s just... genuinely horrifying to imagine being stuck with that for thousands of years. especially when people view rex lapis so highly in liyue, darling feels even more alone on her festering feelings. there’s no relief to be had.

i think i’ll do a big ol headcanon post because the world for yan zhongli and his god darling is so big, i’ve given it a Lot of thought. but the main gist of it is how darling deals with the inaccurate portrayal of their history together. and of course, she interacts with others, since zhongli has the reassurance from the contract that she won’t try to escape. so there’s a lot of angst there. 😭

Hi! Thanks for the ask! You genuinely don’t understand how excited I’ve been to get to this one, I love it so much, and there’s a very large chance I’ll end up writing this as an actual fic. (Prompts are from this list, send me any two and a ship and I’ll write a fic outline)

Righty-ho. So. I’d probably go with something of an avengers au because I’m gay. But like avengers circa 2012 when they were all happy and living in a tower and vaguely functional, yk.

I’d probably go with winterhawk bc I’m a huge sucker for murderhusbands, and Reggie definitely has the clint barton vibe of I am simultaneously the least and most competent person in any room, and Bobby could definitely be Bucky “if anyone touches me I will kill them but also I would like a cat” Barnes.

So, for a little expo, Alex is Natasha, Luke is Steeb, Julie is Tony, Willie is Maria Hill, Caleb is Pierce, Carrie is Bruce, Nick is Thor, Ray is Nick, Flynn is Rhodey (the most awesome character). Juke are bicker-flirting at all times, and Alex and Willie are super competent gays together. Not.

So anywho, the gang are fighting someone (Dr Doom or a giant squid or smth idk) and Reggie and Bobby are on the same roof bc sniping, covering different angles, and they just. Keep. Bickering. It’s totally flirt-bickering, but Luke keeps telling them off about chatter on the comms, Alex is ready to commit a double homicide and take the fall for it, and Julie and Flynn just keep making fun of them.

The problem is Nick, who’s been off world for like six months, and has noticed a change between Bobby and Reggie that He assumes is them having gotten together, (It’s not, they’ve adopted a cat together in secret and they’re hiding it in one of Reggie’s nest vents) and so in the middle of them all getting shot at, he just. Drops down on Reggie and Bobby’s roof anf is like yo dudes congrats on getting together, we’ve been expecting this for months.

And Reggie and Bobby (emotionally incompetent but definitely crushing hard on each other) just stutter and stammer and go bright red, and then instead of being able to talk about it, Luke nominates them to do the next press conference after the mission, because he’s a sadistic asshole and also because Julie took a bad hit and he wants to look after his gf like she deserves, so they have to just awkwardly explain everything abt what happened, and they’re notorious for being the worst at press, so halfway through Reggie’s just like sorry my boyfriend is feeling super faint, and they ditch, and have a feelings conversation like healthy people.

do you think dan loved/ saw the real Blair. or did he only like Blairs good qualities or the character he created? In 5x24, he says "I thought she had changed" what do you think that line meant?

hi!! i dwelled a LOT on question 1, as you’d probably expect, and there’s a bit on your second question at the end of the ask. i didn’t want to put this under a read more, but... i probably have to, hahaha. oh well... 

a lot of people think that dan liked the version of blair he created (i’m not sure why - maybe because of the way derena played out, or maybe because of “inside” & the fact that he definitely was dreaming of her?) but i personally do not agree with that or buy that at all. i’d argue, even, that dan has never had any illusions about the kind of person blair is.

the first time we really get to hear dan’s thoughts on blair (that i can remember, at least), is in 1x04, when he’s complaining to rufus, and he is downright scathing. he hates her! he has a long list of adjectives about how much he hates her!! 

in the end of s1, he and blair even team up to get revenge on georgina because of the shit she put serena through - that gave me so many feels, the first time i watched it, and i’ve actually been thinking abt that a lot - the parallels between 1x18 & 4x10/4x11 and these two being knights in shining armour for serena. maybe i’ll write a fic about that, later (im getting distracted!!) 

in s2, dan says the very iconic “google revenge and you’ll get blair waldorf dot com” thing to vanessa, who wants to help nate. and this makes perfect sense to dan, because he’s definitely schemed with blair to help someone he loves before, and he knows that when it comes to her best friends, she’ll do anything. stuff like this, to me, is the heart of the dair dynamic (along with a 101 other things, blah) because like... dan can see the good parts of it - the fierce loyalty, the “if you want to help nate, blair’s your best shot, because of how she protects and fights for the people she loves,” while also being cynical about it, like, “oh yeah, blair? she’s schemey, she’s mean, she could probably kill someone and show no remorse.” like... .this is one of the most balanced perspectives on blair, ever. i feel like he really understood both sides of her - the part of her that loves so much and so deeply, and the part of her that can be cruel and causes destruction (i would even say that dan himself sort of operates like this - he can be really kind but he can also be really mean, and. yeah idk i just find it fascinating, how much they have in common.)

he even acts on the wrong instinct at times, like, when he’s expecting her to sabotage him at W so he sabotages her first? like, i don’t think there’s really ever an instance where dan is looking at blair and seeing someone who isn’t there? he might read her wrong sometimes, but i feel like he understands her.  they both understand each other! this jibe is one of my favourites because... i think nads @mysteriesofloves said it perfectly here, specifically, the part where she says:

“serena isn’t there to see him, and she won’t be, and he’ll miss his interview waiting for her to throw one glance at him over her shoulder, the way he always has. he says that whatever scheme blair is plotting is going to backfire. and here’s the thing! they’re both completely right - but it has nothing to do with prediction and everything to do with the fact that they know each other better than they know themselves.”

their entire relationship is a gradual building up, and it definitely has its roots in that, you know? like, dan and blair aren’t the people they were in high school, sure, they’re growing past it, but they knew each other back then, they understood each other back then. dan has seen blair at her best, at her romantic and enthusiastic and intellectual opinionated self (whom he vibes with immensely, remember that pretentious sleepover), and he’s seen blair at her worst, and he loves the part of her that schemes and causes problems (she ruined his award nomination thing in despicable b and he was ready to work through it with her!  i know i talk about this episode a LOT but it just really makes me feel things. why would he forgive her for this, if he didn’t understand/accept that side of her???) 

now, for your second question. i honestly do not really remember (or vibe much) with that episode, but i think the whole “i thought she had changed” had to do with like... blair seeing him as an equal, and not just as some poor boy from brooklyn or whatever. blair is pretty canonically classist early on in the series, and she very openly scoffs and looks down on the humphreys due to like, status & wealth & all that jazz (jenny gets it soooo much worse than dan, but. that’s dan’s sister, he’s allowed to be pissed off.) so i would read this as like.. “i thought she and i really connected as two people who had a lot in common, who had common interests and common life goals and who were able to be honest and open and sincere with each other... but i guess that she still looks at me as that nobody from brooklyn, and she’d much rather date a billionaire who’s been terrible to her, than me, who’s tried my best to support her even when she hurt me.” 

i do think there’s ample canon evidence to support this, too, but i can’t think of what to link and show you here that isn’t...... the whole dair arc, lmao. i just think it was very... dan knew that dating him was out of blair’s comfort zone or dream future / ideal future. so i think that’s the context of “i thought she had changed.” like, a paraphrased “i thought i had a chance.”

What's your opinion on fans writing Duke with his cousin Jay as his guardian instead of Bruce? I've seen some people talk about not wanting to separate him from his family and preferring to have him raised by his cousin, but it also feels like some people might use that as an excuse to leave him out of the batfam

this got slightly long & esp ranty at the end for my tastes so tl;dr - ive talked guardianship before & stand by that fans can Do What they Want. but fans who exclude Duke from the main batfam can die by my sword </3

so yeah, I’ve talked abt Duke’s guardianship before and I’ll reiterate: while Cousin Jay most recently has custody of Duke, that doesn’t negate the fact that Duke WAS under Bruce’s care for a time. So whether fans choose to follow what’s most recently given by canon or opt to leave him in Wayne Manor, I will not begrudge either of those decisions. DC themselves hasn’t elaborated recently on what the case is (although I wouldn’t be surprised if they soft-retconned Cousin Jay’s role out, by virtue of [whatever current writer] simply forgetting what’s been established), so fandom Can and Will Do What They Want in that regard.

Duke is shown at the end of Batman & the Signal to be regularly visiting his parents. I love the idea of Duke keeping up with his former family members & with the batfam in equal parts & of fics exploring how he balances time btwn all of them. Family has always been a BIG thing for duke!!! And having that family expanded just makes it all the more important now! That’s what I’d LOVE to see from fic authors!

However, if Duke being in Jay’s custody IS being used as a (piss-poor) excuse to leave him out of the batfam-proper or relegate him to an auxiliary role, especially when modern comics place him as ANYWHERE but that. That’s where I’m gonna start throwing hands, lmao

Duke is a Main batfam member at this point. Don’t erase the fact that he HAS been directly taken under Bruce’s (proverbial) wing!!! Don’t erase the fact that the other batkids consider him a sibling!!! If a fan is leaving Duke out of their batfam content at this point, but including every OTHER batkid, its a BAD look and tbh I want nothing to do with them!!!

Tim’s dad was alive for most of his Robin run! Was he ever excluded from the narrative because of that? Babs’ dad is Much more famously alive, and, OH YEAH, she ends up getting included with damn near as much frequency as the Usual Four Boys. Steph wasn’t ever even directly adopted by Bruce, and yet we all agree that she’s DEFINITELY a main batkid now. So there’s no way anyone will ever convince me that Duke isn’t a Main Batkid unless they’re willing to start excluding all of these guys too. (but then again, some ppl just Do Exactly That Anyways bc they only care abt The Four BatBoys™ so...)

Whether its fic or art or WHAT have you, at this point there just... doesn’t feel like there’s much excuse. Duke’s been a legal part of this family since 2016. The greater part of the fandom is at least Casually Aware of him. Theres more and more blogs like mine trying to raise awareness for him and to give yall resources about him where we can. Use them!!! ask questions!!! explore these blogs and these tags!!! and for gods sake INCLUDE DUKE IN YOUR BATFAM CONTENT.

and if you’re afraid of fucking him up like, licherally just read about him fjdlkas; he’s one of the QUICKEST batkids to read for!!!!! and i should know!!!! I’m also actively trying to read for everyone else too!!! (not to toot my own horn but i’m about to start my 90s batfam reading actually so *TOOT TOOT MOTHERFUCKERS*)

like god, i don’t think its asking MUCH asking COMICS fans to READ COMICS lmao. like rco is a resource! overdrive is a resource! trades exist bc buying individual issues CAN get expensive! hell ive been reading mostly using the DCU app bc it HAS been more cost effective than trying to outright buy trades & its easier to navigate than rco! there’s LOTS of ways to get to know a character and the excuses at this point are either due to laziness &/or racism and either way its a Bad Look. I'm shit at talking to people so I barley know you really but I'm so proud of you for finishing ID! And you should be proud of yourself! SO proud! Over five dang years working on this AND YOU DID IT. IT'S DONE AND IT'S GREAT. Still to this day it's my favorite fic. My comfort fic. The one that convinced me to finally pull the trigger and actually watch the Walking Dead. And read other Negan fics and find all the other awesome writers i follow now. Who are almost exclusively who i follow on tumblr now 😅 it was your Hopper one shot that got me into fics initially but ID was the one that made me realize that fanfic is fucking awesome and that there are so many ways writers can build on and improve the stories i love so much. It is truly amazing and worth the wait to finally read the final chapter. And with a satisfying ending as well, not you just being like "ok i dont care anymore im just gonna bang out the last couple chapters so i can call it done" which is common for fics that have taken this long to finish. 11/10 humor and 100/10 smut as well. Fantastic. There's heart and love for all of the characters right up to the end, and it's wonderful. From Maria and Ben to Trixie and fucking Amber you have depth to everyone in it and there isnt a single character that is flat or boring. Truly a well-rounded story and when you finally decide to write an original full-length novel im sure it will be just as awesome.

You did a great job and you should be proud as fuck for all you put into it. Thank you so much for sharing it with all of us 😊💜💜

This ask made me grin SO hard and also get a bit misty XD It makes me so happy to know my stories got someone into the wonderful world of fanfiction! And I'm glad you enjoyed the ending! When I came back after such a long hiatus, I was secretly terrified that it would be obvious where I had left off, and that the story wouldn't feel like the same writer after me being away from it for so long. I also tried very hard not to rush it towards an ending, because I'd be lying if I said it wasn't tempting to just throw it all together so I could call it done lol. So thank you for letting me know it didn't come across that way, and my efforts to bring it to a satisfying and not rushed ending paid off! Omg, I'm gonna miss those side characters SO much! I got emotional when I realized I won't be writing Ben anymore. I didn't expect to grow as attached to his character as I did, and I love that readers also grew to love him and the others!

Also, can I just say that whatever little voice is telling you that you can't talk to people...tell it to eff off, because I don't think that's true at all! To be very honest, you are one of the blogs whose comments I've always looked forward to once you started reading ID! 14. At what point in writing do you come up with a title?

Honestly, it usually differs from piece to piece! Usually, though, the title comes last! (Though I do have a short list of potential titles for Li Cu fics stored away, most of which are just lyrics from songs xD Whether I end up using them or not, only time will tell!)

15. Which is harder: titles or summaries (or tags)?

All of these tend to give me a bit of trouble xD if I was to rank from hardest to easiest however, I think I'd say titles are the hardest and tags tend to be the easiest. For summaries I usually just slap a portion of the fic in and then add a small almost-summary below it, mostly because I feel like giving a sample of the fic will be more effective than trying to give a succinct description? Kind of shows you what you're getting into before you've even clicked xD

Titles, I use a lot of lyrics from songs, especially ones that I think fit with the character. Though, this does sometimes mean my titles are... long and it can make it a little awkward when trying to talk about the fics themselves. xD

Examples include;

"Come with me, I promise the water is fine..." Which is a lyric from God Bless Eric Taylor by Marietta, a song that I relate to Li Cu somewhat.

This next one is the title of a chapter instead of a whole fic, but I'll count it anyway xD Chapter 2 of I'm Here is titled: "I have this dream that I'm hitting my dad with a baseball bat and he is screaming and crying for help..." which is from the song Father by The Front Bottoms.

I ideally try to make it so that the lyrics also match up with the contents of the chapter/fic. I'm Here's second chapter is all about Li Cu's nightmares, so I thought the title would be pretty fitting xD Honestly, thinking back maybe I could've added more types of dreams.... Ones that fit that title even more.... Small rewrite of that Chapter perhaps? I don't think it would be that different, but still... Would add more angst onto everything xD

The title for "Come with me..." Also sort of relates to the contents of the fic, but moreso in the following line that appears in the summary: "I need something else to comvince me I won't die."

Honestly these lines could have me ranting a whole lot, especially in relation to Li Cu. Just makes me think of all his conflicted feelings, and how he must feel when he drags his friends into the mess he didn't even make. (And these feeling really would increase after Su Wan blames him for the snake bite and getting Shen Qiong inveolved, and during just... the entirety of the time he, Yang Hao, Su Wan and Liang Wan are in the desert together. (ESPECIALLY when Yang Hao is being absolutely mistreated by the 9 families, like sheesh.)

It's just a whole lot of guilt, but also maybe some stubborn determination? Li Cu is very adamant on living just to spit in the face of everyone around him. Existing out of pure spite, but with friends involved, it's more like he's existing to fulfil a purpose? One that he feels like he's bestowed upon himself. Not Wu Xie, or Rishan, or anyone. Just him. He stays alive so he can protect his friends. He'll keep them safe, he'll get them home alive. He has to. And he knows that he will. Or else, what is he even persevering for? "I need something to convince me I won't die." In the fic, this could also be referring to Wu Xie, as he kind of marks safety by the end of the drama. Wu Xie being there means it's okay. It means he doesn't have to fight anymore. And in the fic, it also means that Li Cu can let go. Of Everything. Permanently. (I have so many branching ideas based on that 300 word demon of a fic, you wouldn't even believe)

ANYWAY I'LL STOP RANTING ABT THAT FIC MAYBE I'LL TALK ABOUT THAT FIC MORE IN DEPTH SOME OTHER TIME IF PPL WANT IT.

As for tags, I struggle mostly because I never know what's okay to tag? I'm afraid of tagging a fic with something if the content of that particular tag doesn't show up all that much in the fic? Unless it's something that's a potnential trigger, and then I'll tag it, even if it's small. Just ot be safe. But like. Characters, I don't tag unless they're actually there and present and doing something. If they're mentioned, I tend to not tag them since it's not all that crucial? For people to know they show up for a second? Idk, I like to be as succinct and precise as possible with my tags, because I know how annoying it is for tags to be clogged or for fics to have too many tags xD

4. Share a sentence or paragraph from your writing that you’re really proud of (explain why, if you like)

I have a few, surprisingly! I'll choose two, both from the second chapter of I'm Here!

"Each one makes him wake up, terrified and shaky and wanting to hide or just outright stop existing; to become intangible, untouchable, safe. Of course, he can't actually do that, so instead he pushes the fear down and suffocates it before burying it in the backyard of his mind in the hopes it'll never be dug up again."

Something I try and do while writing is find ways to explain how I. Just. Experience life? (This is also present in Chapter 1 with the line "Further frustration gathered in his chest, making it tighten with stress before it shot up into his throat". Just little things that I've never really seen in words before? That I feel but never know how to accurately describe.) There's always the whole "let the void swallow me/him/her/them whole" thing in media that I love because, honestly, mood. But I guess for this I just wanted to word it differently? In the way I felt was most accurate to myself. Just to be in a state of which nothing can get you, be it life or that one imaginary demon that you sometimes think is lurking around the house at the convenient time of 3 AM, Y'know? When real life becomes TOO real and you just want to blip out for a second, just pause everything and have a moment to be free of everything xD

I also just kind of like the metaphor(?) with his fear. Trust Li Cu to not only associate feelings with violence, but also treat his feelings violently xD I feel like I'm not the best when it comes to imagery and creative expression, especially through words. I point out the obvious, the facts, a lot, both when speaking normally and in writing, and it takes a bit of time for me to remember that I'm writing a story and not jotting a list of events xD So anytime I actually come up with something more kind of creatively written, I feel particularly happy with myself.

"He can't even fully comprehend what's been going on - everything feels bizarre and just out of reach, moreso than usual - but what he does know is that Wu Xie is here and he's angry. The man stands above Li Cu, his cold calculating eyes burning him with wordless accusations that, despite their ambiguity, feel justified. There's guilt, desperation and denial crashing inside him like waves assaulting a rickety raft on a stormy sea. What these feelings are for, he doesn't know. It makes him want to plead for forgiveness all the same."

Let's be honest, Li Cu probably has way too many mixed feelings on Wu Xie. The man who simultaneously built him up and destroyed him. The man who caused him agony, but is also probably one of the best things to come into Li Cu's life??? Like damn, I think I'd be pretty conflicted if I was Li Cu. And things only get worse when, in this fic's timeline, Wu Xie essentially ghosts Li Cu out of guilt for what he did to the kid. This is taken wrong by Li Cu, and he ends up feeling abandoned. By his own kidnapper. I just feel like this snippet is pretty okay at capturing all the blame he puts onto himself, and captures some of the trauma that comes with the events of Sha Hai as well. I just kind of like how this paragraph turned out in the end. xD

6. What character do you have the most fun writing

LI CU!!! Absolutely Li Cu. I don't know exactly what it is but it just. Clicks with me? Or at least the version I write of himd does, it's probably not even close to Li Cu's canon portrayal xD Maybe it's because of the fact that I'm also an angsty, angry 19 year old that I feel as such? It's much easier to put myself in the mind of a teenage boy rather than a 40 year old man xD In terms of non DMBJ writings, I have OCs that I love writing for! Funnily enough, one is an angsty 19 year old boy with a lot of self-worth issues (ringing any bells?) and the other is an angry, confused and conflicted character that was modified to be a kind of living weapon, but had since escaped and repressed all their memories of what happened. Though, the memories eventually start to resurface and they begin to question themself a whole lot, with flashbacks haunting the corners of their mind and driving them deeper and deeper into guilt-filled despair.

In general, angsty characters with a lot of conflicted emotions are super fun to write for! To flicker around from thought to thought and dive into all the hidden feelings that a character can have. It's just super enjoyable for me xD

one shots are my go to but ever since dnyl club, chapters feel so nice like i don’t have to condense or have a bunch of separate scenes in one fic!

hmmm... i don’t think there is a perfect length. whatever feels right and whatever makes sense for the flow!

9. what is your longest published story? is it complete?

dnyl club i think? it’s ongoing! the longest one shot would be my recent “midnight moon café” at 14.8K, still short compared to other ppl’s works!

10. which story did you enjoy working on the most?

i’d say dnyl club is the most fun to work on atm! all of the stories were very fun to write tho and have specific memories attached! like vampire!ten makes me think of my old college, merry missed flight is based off that i missed a flight irl, peter pan flight with jungwoo was for my dear friend and reminiscent of disneyland!, strawberry sweet makes me think of early high school🥺

12. are there reoccurring themes in your stories?

kind of maybe? one of the character’s has a problem of some sort, a personality flaw even maybe but they work it out; they attempt to mend it! also now i’m realizing but a lot of hidden feelings and not being upfront. a certain theme that’s prominent is college au’s tho! i guess it’s because i’m in uni/college so i find it easier to write content about things i’m doing myself or situations i’m in.

after writing this, i notice i should expand and write for different subjects. i don’t like being in one box and love creativity so i’ll be thinking abt that for the future! one thing also is that i’m hard on myself but after a couple month when i read a certain fic of mine i’m like wait... this isn’t so bad LOL

it may not seem like much but dnyl club has a lot of my own personal thoughts and stories in it so proofreading chapters helps me to understand what i’m feeling and how to get out of it! dnyl club has always been a story from my own life so it’s kind of relieving to let it out through a written fictional story?

Damn you for being so beautiful, so kind, so great and damn you for being such a good friend. A good friend that had no clue that her own friend was crushing on the guy that was about to ask her out. Hell, she couldn’t even do anything because she didn’t even know that Mark was your crush, no one knew.

Maybe it was your fault, you thought to yourself as you ran out of breath. Maybe if you had told your friends, especially Julie, that you had a crush on Mark, maybe they could’ve spread some good words about you to him and he would’ve fallen for you. But you knew that was bullshit. No matter how much you tried to make yourself better and more attractive, Mark would still most likely choose anyone else over you.

Alcohol was the only thing that was a constant in his life. People would come and go, but his beautiful filled glass of pleasure would always be there.

And really, who wasn’t intoxicated? So many got high off their own beauty and youth, high off their passion and love, high from the frantic breaths when they see their love. You could still feel high without drinking. Even the world was intoxicated. The morning was intoxicated by the refreshing dew drops on the grass and leaves. The air was intoxicated by the fragrance of the rain and the clouds. In every intoxication, there was a joy and a sorrow to be found. So, who wasn’t intoxicated?

His mind swirled with random aggressive thoughts towards people who shamed his lifestyle. At least he was attempting to find joy in his misery.

This builds off of the Omega! Aizawa story I wrote a while ago! I hope you meant for the night I mentioned Aizawa having a nightmare in-between 2nd and 3rd year. If you meant adult Aizawa, please let me know! I’ll write a series of headcanons about how he deals with nightmares now.

WARNING: Spoilers for the Manga, Major character death, sexual implications

Nightmares || Young Omega! Aizawa

Oboro was gone. He had been for a few months now, but Aizawa wouldn’t have known that based on how frequent the boy appeared in his dreams. Always so supportive and kind, memories started to blur with his dreams which only caused more pain. 

Then there were those nights. The nights where he went to bed with high hopes that Oboro would be there to reassure him once again that he was worth it. That he was worthy of being a hero and that he was good for something, even as an Omega, but it only reminded him of how time seemed to move so slow during that moment. During his death. 

His voice was so clear too. The whole time he fought the villain after Oboro had been crushed, he swore that he had been cheering him on. Yet, he vividly remembered the bloody body bag as well. He was gone, and no matter what he attempted to do in his dreams, they always ended the same way. 

He launched himself out of bed once again, scent burning as several distressed chirps left his omega. He placed his hand over his chest, trying to calm his heavy breathing as well as his omega before taking a moment to look around. He was in his bedroom. He was awake. He could feel the hardwood under his feet. He was acutely aware of how his pajamas rubbed against his body. He was breathing. He was alive. 

His scent continued to burn as he slowly sat back down on his bed, resting his head in his hands as he tried to remember what exactly he did this time. The dream was already fading, but he swore it had something to do with those kids. God he felt so bad for those kids, barely older than pups and yet they already witnessed the cruel reality of the world.

Another chirp left his chest.

He groaned softly as tears threatened to spill and his breathing became uneven. He was getting in his head again. Overthinking. Oboro told him to stop that- Goddamn it everything brought him back to his friend. He needed a distraction.

He reached over to his phone and quickly turned it on, blinding his sensitive eyes as he clumsily turned down the brightness. After he could properly look at his phone, he quickly found your contact name and sent a simple text.

“Open your window. I’ll be there soon”

He pressed send before quickly gathering the bag he had prepared beforehand. Maybe he did overthink. Maybe he was in his head too much and overprepared, but that couldn’t have been a bad thing...Right?

He continued to ponder as he left his bedroom through his window, knowing he didn’t have to sneak out. His parents didn’t really care what he did, but he still didn’t want to risk waking them up. 

Once his feet hit the ground, he started walking towards your place. Luckily, it wasn’t that far away and it gave him enough time to compose himself. He stopped crying and his scent wasn’t as bitter as before, but he was well aware of how animals seemed to flee from him and other people seemed to cringe or cover their noses as he walked by. 

He never really cared for the coffee scent he had, finding it mildly ironic because of his disgust at the thought of drinking the bitter liquid, but you never seemed to mind it. In fact, it seemed like you were almost as addicted to the scent as a middle aged woman was to the actual drink. He smiled a little at the joke in his head before realizing he was almost to your house.

He noticed how your window was open and grinned a bit before knocking on the frame to alert you that he was there, only noticing you sitting on your bed in your favorite Pajamas after he crawled in the window and sat his bag down. Despite it being...Gosh it was 1 in the morning. Why did he wake you up? Well he might not have woke you up, you might’ve just been tired but how was he supposed to know-

“Shota.”

He snapped his head up at you only to see you with a small smile. It melted his heart and calmed his anxieties, seeing you look that way at him. 

“Come here, Omega. Tell me what’s got you bitter.” Your arms opened wide so he knew you wanted to hold him. 

He found himself quickly crawling into your arms, pressing his nose against your scent gland as you created a comforting scent to help calm him. His omega let out soft purrs as he felt your hands wrap around him, softly massaging his sides and hips while rocking him slightly. He found himself out of his head for once, completely focused on you and how nice it was to be in your arms.

“Omega, please talk to me” A soft kiss was pressed to his neck, above the scent gland, making him shiver and cling to you more.

“Just...A nightmare about him again.” His voice was quiet, barely above a whisper, but you didn’t seem to mind. 

You let out a soft hum and pressed your lips to his temple before moving one of your hands into his own. Despite the little time you both had been courting, only a few weeks now, he found out that you knew the answer to the majority of the questions you asked and often could tell what was wrong before his scent could change or a word was said. 

His arms slipped around your neck as he hid once again, relaxing once you pulled him closer once again. 

“Wanna talk about it, or be distracted?”

God he loved when you asked him that. You never forced him to speak about it and always gave him options. You let him think about the options for a second, but spoke before he could get too in his head again.

“Darling, You know you don-” 

“Distraction. I don’t think I can talk about it without getting emotional.” He admitted and pulled away, not realizing how his hands slipped into your hair until he pulled them away to cup your cheeks. He grinned a little at how you seemed to lean into his hands as yours rested on his hips. 

“Fair enough. Just know that you have every right to feel the way you do, he was your best friend.” His grin faded and his scent started to turn, but you quickly pulled him close and pecked his jaw, hands moving to his sides before your fingers started poking at him. He gasped and jerked away from you, glaring at you while puffing out his cheeks. 

“Stop that,” He demanded as his hands moved to hold yours. “You know I can’t stand being tickled.”

“But it’s so cute. Hearing your omega chirp from the sudden poke.” You smirked and went to do it again but the Omega continued to wrestle your hands away from his sensitive sides until you managed to push him down on your bed. Neither of you thought about the position you were in, only that he was starting to giggle and smile again as he continued to wiggle, squirm, and fight you.

When you finally let him win, his scent had switched to a much sweeter and happy scent, something that made your Alpha boom with pride. His arms managed to wrap around your neck before he leaned up to kiss you. He hardly ever kissed first, so your eyes widened at the sudden action of the other. You kissed him back and noticed how his hands seemed to wander. Starting on your cheeks but moving to your hair, only to slowly move down your shoulders and arms as the makeout session continued. 

His omega and your alpha were purring up a storm, enjoying the affection in the moment. Your hands caressed his body but the second his back lifted off of the bed, you pulled away. He whined loudly, pink cheeks and sweet scent filling your room.

“Whyd...you stop?” He asked softly, looking at you with lidded and lustful eyes. Your alpha wanted to devour him, but you held back before moving to kiss his cheek.

“I don’t want to get carried away, darling...You deserve the best and you might not be thinking clearly.” You mumbled before pressing a few more kisses to the mans’ jaw.

He let out an annoyed whine before cupping your cheeks and kissing you once again, but it was cut short when he pulled away. 

“I asked for a distraction, so distract me. I promise, I’ll be okay and there is nobody else I'd want besides you.” He mumbled against your lips before pecking you again.

“You positive?” You asked, caressing your hands down his body one more time before meeting his gaze. He nodded and moved to hold your hand. 

“You’re overthinking. I want you to distract me and make me feel loved. I know that you’ll make me feel loved and special, so please. Make me feel loved.” He spoke clearly, fully submitting to you but also giving you that push you needed to take the next step.

Safe to say that Aizawa slept like a rock after.

thursday again no (?) problem

listening: been in a Rilo Kiley mood recently, the song The Good That Won’t Come Out hits me in a place, love a soft little bop that makes me feel all melancholy

reading: I’m about two thirds of the way through The Steel Crow Saga by Paul Kreuger, I’m enjoying it, the worldbuilding is cool and I care abt the characters. the quote on the back compares it to Avatar but Imo it’s more like Korra specifically than AtLA (there are cars and trains and guns, and also people trying to rebuild their countries after years of occupation and dealing with the aftermath of colonialism). however it has a significantly more coherent grasp on political themes than Korra does (I love Korra but. hmm. I have some opinions abt some of the writing decisions). also most of the main characters aren’t straight, and there’s a trans man who is, admittedly, kind of an asshole but I like him on principle bc there are so few trans mlm in fantasy, so it’s unfortunate that this one is aggressively a monarchist but he’s also sleeping with the prince which is one of the more valid reasons to be a monarchist so he’s valid I guess

watching: so I finished Gundam Wing, and my review is that it would be a good show if the characters had consistent motivations and coherent emotional arcs. I care enough about some of the character because they have enough potential for me to want more. as far as I can tell there’s not really a thematic message beyond “war is bad but people enjoy fighting,” because most characters fall somewhere on the spectrum between “war is good because people naturally enjoy fighting, therefore fighting is beautiful” “peace is good but only if you get there by destroying all of your enemies first so there’s no one left to fight you” “war is bad which means I need to do war crimes and/or let war crimes happen so that everyone sees how fucked up war is” and “fighting at all ever is bad even if fascists are invading your country, the right thing to do in that situation is surrender and let them turn you into a figurehead”

the politics are wildly inconsistent and also, Imo, not great. don’t understand why the group trying to fight back against the organization who conquered the entire earth by force are somehow the bad guys, except that they inexplicably put some asshole who changed sides like 5 times in charge of their entire operation, and he inexplicably wants to blow up the entire earth in order to show people why war is bad. seriously.

there’s also a weird emphasis on heterosexual love as the most important thing to strive for, despite none of the m/f relationships getting any development whatsoever and the only relationships that seem to actually matter are familial or ~the bond between fellow warriors

and then the ending feels very abrupt and like. suddenly everything is supposed to be fine now because it was all just a misunderstanding and no one actually wanted to fight a war, we were all just doing war crimes to show how bad war is, so never mind all those people who died or the child soldiers who were traumatized along the way. and maybe the way that most of the plot feels like it was meaningless now that everyone has just suddenly realized that they should stop fighting is meant to be a commentary on war meaningless. maybe. or maybe they should have written a more coherent plot and a more convincing ending. because that interpretation doesn’t really track with all the emphasis on how cool and important the Gundam pilots are, so maybe this show is just falling into “fighting is beautiful/wow cool robot” line of thinking that it was trying to critique

HOWEVER, a counterpoint and also subtle plug for my ttrpg/Friends at the Table/mech anime twitter: there sure are lots of dynamics that give me gay vibes

also watching: that Supernatural clip. you know the one. I have an entire essay in me about how straight people fundamentally don’t understand what coming out means or how it works or why we do it, but everything about Cas ““speaking his truth”“ and how that’s the happiest he thinks he can ever be even though both he and the text of the script say that his feelings are unrequited is such out of touch cishet bullshit. coming out, in gay media for/by straight people, is usually framed as like, the end goal and something that we do for its own sake or so that we can be ~authentic or whatever the fuck. which, at least in my experience, is just. not how it works. and maybe I’m missing something here, because I do not feel like I’m being “fake” by not being out to everyone I meet, and also that when I lie about my identity for my own comfort and safety that’s 100% fine and valid, actually. but Imo coming out is just as much, if not more, about gaining access to community support and resources and potential relationships. you don’t come out to your crush so that you can live your truth or whatever the fuck, you come out to your crush because you want to date them. so fuck off with that “true happiness isn’t about having it’s just about saying it” bullshit

playing: I know I talk a lot abt my ongoing Beam Saber campaign but I’m really excited about it, and I spent a lot of time yesterday doing prep for both the current mission and the next few missions, including some broader faction stuff. I’d never run a campaign before this and it’s really fun actually? and I love the downtime & faction stuff that Beam Saber does that you can’t really get when you’re just doing one shots all the time.
