Can we please have more of eldrith horror reader
mkay
EH!Reader tried to eat Idia’s hair. Twice. It’s not their fault his hair looks like candy (and smells like it too). The one day Ortho convinced him to attend class in person, only to end up sitting in front of the abomination and being blissfully unaware that they were sniffing his hair for a good 15 minutes before unhinging their jaws to have a “little” taste. The second time was because his hair changed color and apparently neither of them learned the first time.
Loves watching Epel’s apple carving (mainly ‘cause they want a snack). One day Epel offered to let them try for themselves, only to have EH!Reader completely ignore the carving knife offered to them and popped the apple right into their mouth instead… and then spat out a perfectly carved apple in the shape of a swan. Epel was shocked. Everybody around who witnessed it was shocked. Idia, who was watching from one of his security cameras was shocked (and horrified). And then they ate the apple.
Silver once woke up to the sight of EH!Reader sniffing at his face and hair. His animal friends all fled, scared of the inhuman aura surrounding them. Silver had no idea who the heck this person was or why they were so close and why they were smelling of him and-he fell asleep again. He woke up later to find them asleep, head and crossed arms laying on his torso. Guess he attracts more than just animals.
Back on the annoying Vil train: EH!Reader doesn’t understand the big deal with makeup and looking good, what with them having the ability to shapeshift; yet, Vil still finds it important to teach them about this stuff. One comment catches their attention though when Vil mentions how every product he uses is organic and doesn’t use any sort of animal parts. It’d ruin his reputation if anyone were to hear that the Vil Schoenheit supported animal cruelty, all for the sake of his looks.
EH!Reader, takes one whiff of Vil’s moisturizer: You know you have eel mucus on your face, right?
Vil: Excuse me, but wHAT.
Better run Azul/Tweels, Vil’s coming for your ass (with a lawsuit).
Their best subject is PE, for the sole reason that they are one of the most physically fit and strongest at the school. Well, excluding flying. They’re able to keep up with Jack during his runs, can take on students like the Tweels, Malleus, and all of Savanaclaw in a non-magic fight, and has the ability to tell when Rook or Lilia is close by. This is the whole reason they’re not allowed to participate in Bean’s Day, because their senses allow them to hunt down anyone in the school and they have a tendency to get carried away. They kind of go into this predatory-hunter mode that sends people to the infirmary…
Nesting. Yes, I’m going there. EH!Reader has a room dedicated to their nest where they keep all their trinkets they’ve collected since coming to Twisted Wonderland. Some things are stuff they’ve found, while others are mementos from their adventures. Their bed is also covered in stuff like blankets and pillows given to them by other dorms. EH!Reader even has some things that they swiped from their friends and schoolmates like jackets, hats, one or two of Vil’s makeup, some jewelry from Scarabia’s treasure hoard, and even one of Malleus’s blazers. Some of the others have noticed their missing items, but don’t suspect the little abomination has anything to do with it. Only Grim knows, he also knows that nobody but EH!Reader is allowed in this room.
Much to the annoyance of the NRC boys, EH!Reader seems a lot more interested in RSC, especially after having met Che’nya and Neige. The others, especially Crowley, informs them that they’re their rival school, so are the “enemy,” but EH!Reader don’t care. They find RSC interesting and fun and they all smell so nice, kind of reminds them of the scent Silver and Kalim gives off. Everyone is frustrated over this, until the revelation that EH!Reader possibly views the RSC as prey, at least, that’s what Rook has suggested based on their body language and the look in their eyes whenever they come into contact with a rival student…
Grim: Hey, henchman! How come you always seem to smile with your mouth closed? Come on, smile for real!
EH!Reader: . . . *smiles widely, revealing rows of big, sharp teeth*
Grim: Nevermind. Go back to what you were doing before and never do that again.

Let's Talk Whump No.17
Welcome to Let’s Talk Whump, a series of interviews that spotlight the amazing people in our whump community! I’m Malice and I’ll be your host today.
Today’s I’m talking whump with the amazing @painful-pooch!
Welcome to Let’s Talk Whump! Do you want to start by sharing a fact or two about your self?
Hiya! My name is Izzy, some folks know me as Pooch and I am 22 years old. Favorite color is blue, my favorite animal is a German Shepherd, like mine lmao, and one of my favorite hobbies is mowing my lawn. I currently serve in the military, so any free time I get, I enjoy working on my house, writing, chatting with friends, or loving on my dog, Zelda.
What does whump mean to you?
Time to get all philosophical! Whump to me is a sort of way to work through my feelings, help visualize certain aspects of my life, and to cope with the pain of the past. It is more than pain though, because a lot of the time I feel like I rarely deserve comfort, but if I can bring some amount of happiness to others with my writing, then it truly brings me a smile to my face. Whump is a vague genre that I think has so many definitions depending on the person, but for me, it’s a way to get that pent up emotion out of me and put it in writing. Having PTSD, anxiety, and depression can be heavily taxing on my mental health, but thankfully with whump, I have so many tools available to me to tackle my challenges and problems head on.
And how did you find the whump community? What made you want to join?
It’s kind of funny how I found it. A few years back, I was a simple lurker, but once I was living with my husband (long story), I decided to join a few whump servers. From there, I got to meet some amazing folks and I was embedded in the community from there. I just wanted to feel like I belonged, and for once, I felt like others understood where my love of whump came from. I don’t want to name folks since I don’t know if they would appreciate it, but there were two lady whump writers I know of that really got me to feel excited for creating a universe where anything can happen.
Over time, I started to learn about other writers and before I knew it, I became friends, even best friends with some of the authors I speak to on a constant basis. I didn’t feel like how I used to, and I was able to spread my wings and get more active in the community, going as far as opening my own discord whump server for adults only that truly respects triggers and accepts whump of all varying degrees using roles. I hope to be the person that can one day help someone get into the community and have a good time with all of us.
And have you found that your view on whump has changed since you joined?
It has definitely fluctuated as time went on, actually. I didn’t feel comfortable at first writing military whump because I didn’t know how others would feel about me being in the military and I didn’t want them to think that my fiction was stuff that actually happens in real life. I took an extremely long break from mafia whump just due to some personal issues I was having with how the story was playing out, but thankfully I am trying to find my way back into it.
A lot of my friends know me as an NSFW lover, but the funniest thing is that I haven’t written anything NSFW for public consumption in… I think it’s been like half a year now. I sadly wasn’t into Fandoms because I didn’t think there was much to work with, but once I met two of my friends, that quickly changed. I was inhaling all of their work, and I wanted more of it. That being said, I can never write Fandom, but I can now definitely respect the work that others put into it. Afterall, whump is whump, regardless of characters or tropes.
And now everyone’s favourite question! What are your favourite whump tropes?
Oh man, this is the question I have been waiting for! I am in love with non-human whumpees like shapeshifters and military whump of all varying degrees. That being said, my top favorite tropes have to be ‘Scar to Remember’, ‘Touch Starved’, ‘Sacrifice’, and ‘I Know You’re in There Somewhere’ Fight. Something about whumpees that have scars from troubled pasts, battles from forever ago that still hurt in the present, and those that try to hide their scars from others is a treat to behold for me. Touch starved whumpees that wish they could be held or even feel cared about make me swoon, but there’s that delicious flavor of touch averse whumpees craving affection in the form of touch even while it hurts them as well.
Sacrifice is a major trope I have in most of my series that I feel is necessary for me. I have a character named Bruno that will absolutely do anything in his power to keep others safe, from giving up his chest armor and putting himself in danger, to shielding others to take the majority of the damage. It’s a trope that I feel can convey more emotion and respect for a character than words can do. The final trope I will blab about is one that I hold dear to me, and that is finding one’s self within their heart, especially after being subjected to the most pain and cruelty possible. There’s something to be said when you think a character has reached their utmost, but they have this small amount of hope that turns into rage, strength, resiliency, or whatever is needed to surpass the horrors they have faced.
What do you consider your best pierce of writing? Do you mind sharing it with us?
The best writing piece I have written was "Tell Me When It's Over". It was actually in response to an ask game I did, where I was given a sentence or five words I had to have within the answer. I think it’s one of my most cherished ones because it shows Bruno’s perspective after an explosion occurs and the reason he’s so injured while also being vague. He doesn’t know all that is going on, but he can see his teammates looking down at him in a way that makes him realize he was really in for it. It’s so short while also packing a punch that I think it needed to really carry it far.
Poor Bruno! That really packs a lot of emotion into a few words! Do you have a particular writing routine?
I think early mornings (between 5am-8am) and early night (between 8pm-10pm) to be the best times for me to work on my writing. I usually have my water bottle to drink from, but sometimes if I am feeling snackish, I will have some chips nearby and reward myself for every 300 words I write. I absolutely have to have the TV on and play either a show or a movie in the background for me to enjoy, which depending on the work I am doing, can change what show or movie I watch. I have come to learn that I can’t write at specific times due to my work schedule or if I am indisposed to being a loving wife, dog mom, or if I am volunteering somewhere. Usually when the inspiration strikes, I will pull out my phone or laptop and type out the general mood or vibe I was wanting to follow, so that way I don’t forget it once it’s time to come back. I also have a few spotify playlists that let me pick which character I want to hone in on. It’s all about the vibes, amirite?
Do you find that some things are easier to write than others?
Oh absolutely! The easiest thing for me to write is when my characters are having a flurry of emotions going through them while also dealing with anything else like torture, conversations with fellow characters, or being deep within a nightmare. It’s interesting when I do write in the first person for some of my characters, as it can have a deep sense of self-loathing, dread, and gives the reader an insight into the mind of said character. I struggle with writing small projects (under 500 words). Something in my brain tells me it’s not enough to make the scene move smoothly and there’s not enough detail. That being said, whenever I said I would write something short, it ends up becoming 4k words. It’s a curse, I tell you.
Give us a peak behind the curtains, is there anything new you’re currently working on?
So far, me and two of my best friends, Jada @actressforhim and Blue @ocean-blue-whump are working on AUs and some canon stuff involving my military task force or just Bruno. I always love working with friends and just having a good ol’ time RPing with them. They made me fall back in love with writing.
On top of me working on my shape-shifter universe and the task force military whump series, I was going to revive a mafia series starring a soviet mafia lord trying to make it big in the US during the Prohibition Era in the 1920s. I wanted to dive into something noir-esque and diversify while also getting over my personal hurdles that held me back in the past.
Is there any advice you’d like to share?
Some of the best writing advice I can give is this: While others are reading your work, keep in mind that it is *your* story. If someone doesn’t like it, they can move on or create their own story to fit those ideals they want. Also, have fun while writing and if it feels like work or stress, take a break. It’s supposed to be a fun hobby to share with friends, not something that determines your future. Finally, don’t let those haters get to you. You will make it past all those obstacles and you’ll know who your real friends are when the dust settles.
Finally, let’s give a shout-out to the wonderful people in this community!
I really want to thank Blue @ocean-blue-whump for being my absolute best friend and meeting me IRL last year. It was one of the best times of my life and I can’t wait to continue growing with her. I also want to thank Jada @actress4him and Nox @inscrutable-shadow for helping me open up the Slices of Whump Discord server and allowing us to host fun events for our server members, love whump, RP, and more.
These next few folks have earned my respect and love. If I missed any, I am sorry and I will reblog with a bigger list ofc.

Matchup For Joey!
This is my second matchup so bare with me if things are wrong. For the most part, I hope you enjoy!
Hacker:Akudama Drive
Tumblr media
The two of you met within a group mission, both being crucial parts that needed to work together, but Hacker wasn't for the idea of working along with someone else and worked on his own things in quiet. When the mission began going south, he started to realize that he was going to need to work together even if it was out of his comfort zone.
After a few hours, Hacker began to realize that you were pretty good at what you're doing and that your work was actually useful. Shocking to most, he chooses to stay connected after the mission just in case he needs help with something. But, secretly he wants to hang out more and he thinks that you're cute… you didn't hear that from me though.
Once a year passes by, Hacker finally gets the courage to ask you out on a date, now knowing a lot about you. His preferred date night is inside, maybe watching a movie or playing a new game together. Of course if you're interested in going out somewhere, he would find some way into getting a reservation (likely hacking into the resturants database and adding a reservation in) for an expensive dinner and then taking you out to see the stars.
Hacker's not into PDA, maybe if the two of you are dating for a while he'll start feeling more comfortable but for the most part he's keeping to himself.
I feel like both of your styles would go good together, especially some of the goth ones. Hacker wouldn't be into matching outfits, but he would try and wear something similar whether it be the color or the pattern. The two of you would share music back and forth with each other, possibly even have a shared playlist for all of your guys' music. He would play music and dance around the room when he got finished with a super hard code or mission, almost like a victory dance,
Hacker would act like he didn't care about your interests and the things you ramble about, but deep down he's making sure to hear every word and remember it
An average day between the two of you is hanging out in a dark room and working on things you both enjoy, Hacker would be working on some sort of code and would ask for some advice on how to make it better.
After some time being together, I feel like Hacker would open up about his thoughts about something else being out there and how he dreams of reaching it. From that point forward, he starts opening up more to you about his insecurities and the fear of nothing actually being out there.
Kouichi Shindou: HoriMiya
Tumblr media
You met Kouichi from your mutual friend, Miyamura, who introduced the two of you in junior high school. You weren't sure how to feel about him, but that all changed when you got to see the side of him around Miyamura, sticking up for him and helping him become a better person. Some time had gone by and the two of you were now in high school, except the two of you didn't go to the same high school. He went to another school nearby in order to get his life set together, which you're happy about until the news of him repeating his second year went around. You made sure to never let him live it down.
Valentines had rolled around and Miyamura and you were on your way home when the sounds of girls squealing were heard nearby. Across from them, the ginger haired boy tried to leave the big crowds of girls who waited for him to accept their gifts.
Watching the interaction between the two, a new feeling bursted within as you stomped over through the crowd of people. Grabbing Kouichi's arm, you drag him away from the crowd bringing him to your dorm not sure what to do next. Talking, he begins to question why you brought him to your house and away from those people, in which you let split that you felt jealous and didn't want him to receive valentines from other people
Once the secret was revealed, the two of you agreed to go out with each other and soon enough a relationship was born.
Date nights with Kouichi are outside in calming areas where he can feel free to be himself without the screaming girls always behind him. He once took you to a flower field filled with all sorts of flowers, along with your favorite. The two of you then had a picnic and stared at the stars when nightfall hit embracing the comfort of each other.
Takashi Morinozuka: Ouran High School Host Club
Tumblr media
You accidentally ran into them when the group was going to the market and Honey-senpal had gotten lost needing help to find his friend. Lucky for him, you happened to be there to help and with a little bit of searching the two of you found his friends who were panically searching for their friends.
Enjoying your company, Honey-senpai wanted to keep in touch and invite you to one of his many tea parties with all of his sweets. Accepting the invite, that was how you met the blonde's best friend, Mori-senpai.
You weren't sure about him not knowing much about him considering that he didn't talk much and preferred to listen, but he won you over when Tamaki was in one of his moods and was throwing pillows around the host club. He got so angry that he threw one extremely hard your way, but before it could hit you Mori-Senpai caught it, saving your life.
From then on, the two of you became closer and soon enough a date is arranged between the two of you, plus honey of course. All of you went to a dessert cafe and had a blast, especially honey who ended up having a stomach ache after leading to Mori carrying him home, but that allowed the two of you to have some time alone.
Your guys' relationship was good besides the constant girls from the host club, but Mori and the host club members always made sure to stick up for you when one of them tried to tear you down.
Your relationship is usually spent with Honey and the host club, but there are some small chances when the two of you get to be alone, but it doesn't happen much. When the two of you are together, Mori-senpai listens about your day and makes sure to note everything that's said when you're rambling. He's a good listener and can memorize anything your saying. You mention something you want? He's already planning to get it. You had a bad day? He's planning to make it better.
Definitely boyfriend material and father material, I mean we have seen the way he acts around Honey.
That's it for the matchup and I hope you enjoyed Joey! Request are open! Feel free to send one in :)

⭐ Welcome! ⭐
Henlo. Hope you’re doing well. Thanks for poppin’ by. I’m Veins, an art goblin on the internet with abnormal levels of anxiety and chronic video game brainrot, and this is my introduction post. Any updates or news on my end will be added here as well. I hope you’ll be patient with me and enjoy your visit!
(Last updated 04/20/24)
---
Who are you?
What an existentially upsetting question. Well, for the moment, I go by VeinsFullOfStars online, usually shortened to just Veins. I’m also toying around with Ivan or Yves, but Veins is the most preferable. Nice to meet you!
Wait, didn't you already have an account here? With the same username?
I did. I, uh, panic-deleted it in response to the data-scraping fiasco and regretted it almost immediately. As a result, you might see reblogs from the deactivated account still floating around. There is, unfortunately, nothing I can do about those unless the blogs that shared them take them down themselves (and, hey, if you happen to be one of those folks seeing this, I'd super appreciate it if you'd maybe remove the old reblog and replace it with the new one from here if you can). It's my mistake for overreacting, and now I just have to live with it. Sorry for any confusion.
What does your username mean? Where did it come from?
It’s an altered version of a pen name I used in my teen years. I’m too embarrassed to get into specifics, but just know that it comes from a place of very sincere cringe and leave it at that.
What are your preferred pronouns/gender?
Thanks for asking! I’m non-binary, and I use they/them pronouns.
How old are you?
Ancient (in my 30s).
What is your avatar supposed to be?
A goblin. Very smol, very nervous, very puntable.
What are you using this blog for?
Art, mostly. I like to draw digitally and sometimes make stuff with yarn. I've also been writing since I could hold a pencil (though I don’t have much finished, so art will be the main focus for now). Also, expect a lot of reblogs, shitposts, and/or silence between posts - I am a simple hobbyist with a lot of brain nonsense and IRL hurdles. I’ll do my best to post with some regularity, of course, but - again - I hope you’ll be patient with me if things go quiet from time to time.
What are your interests?
I love stories. I love characters. I love folks who can weave whole worlds with nothing but words on a page or color on a canvas. I grew up on fantasy novels, short horror stories, and late ‘90s/early ’00s animation. I learned to appreciate slice-of-life and slow-burn romance much later. Mythology and folklore also slaps, and I wonder sometimes if I should’ve majored in psychology instead of lib arts. My playlists are nothing but video game OSTs with a little heavy metal and j-rock sprinkled in for flavor. I sold my soul to Nintendo years ago, but sometimes I find indie darlings to fall in love with for a time. Dogs are adorable little menaces, and I love them all with my whole chest. Cats are okay, and I am allergic to them. (Does that answer the question? I think I lost track towards the end there…)
Any current hyperfixations?
Tons, but the biggest ones at the moment are Kirby, Hollow Knight, and Paper Mario. More nebulous interests include (in no particular order) Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky, Rain World, Stardew Valley, most Soulsborne titles, Hades, Darkest Dungeon, Good Omens, The Legend of Zelda, Undertale/Deltarune, OFF, The Binding of Isaac, Ace Attorney, Animal Crossing, The Magnus Archives, Sonic the Hedgehog, and countless more. When I say “multifandom,” I mean it, homie.
Do you have any other social media?
Just this and an AO3 account. So, if you see my name anywhere but these two places, it’s probably not me. For now, Tumblr will be the best place to keep up-to-date with my stuff. If anything changes, I’ll let y’all know here.
Do you have a list of tags you use on your posts?
I tag things obsessively, but I’ll try to sort out the most relevant/unique ones I use here:
#veins art - for any art I’ve made (chrono link)
#veins old art - for reposts of older art I made before moving to Tumblr (Note: these posts are here for archival purposes and may not reflect my current style/interests.)
#veins sketches - for any of my unrendered doodles/sketch dumps
#veins ocs - for art I’ve made featuring my original characters/stories
#veins fanart - for art I’ve made featuring characters from other IPs
#veins writes - for any written works I’ve made
#veins ships - for any posts (reblogs included) featuring romantic pairings; I will also try to include specific pairings as “#(blank) x (blank)” and/or any ship names
#veins rambles - for random thoughts/text posts
#veins in dream land - for any rambles/headcanons about the Kirby series specifically
#veins answers - for any of my responses to asks sent in (chrono link)
#veins reblogs - for anything I reblog, obviously
#kirbtober 2023 - for my Kirbtober 2023 art specifically (chrono link)
#childhood friends au - for art from my Kirby AU where Dedede and Meta Knight first met as kids (masterpost | chrono link)
#kintsugi au - for art from my Kirby AU centered around the Mirror World, the Wave 2 gang, and the Darkroach ship - warning: contains angst and some suggestive content (masterpost | chrono link)
I’ll update this with new tags if/when they pop up. Anything else will have generic tags to fit the context of the post. I also mark trigger warnings with tags like “#(blank) tw” if necessary.
What do you use to make your art?
For digital art, I use Clip Studio Paint and a Wacom Intuos Pro S drawing tablet (that I'm pretty sure I've had since high school). I don’t draw traditionally as much anymore, but, when I do, it’s usually just quick sketches with pencil and paper. For writing, I use TextEdit or whatever generic rich text editing software I can find. For crafting, I use yarn and plastic canvas.
What brushes do you use?
For sketching and linework, I generally use the Wick Pencil from the 8 Particle Pencil catalog made by saturns_day. For flats and rendering, I use the default CSP hard round brush, airbrush, and G-pen. For effects and extras (clouds, textures, sparkles, etc.), I use default effects brushes or whatever I can find from the CSP Asset Shop.
Can I share your work through reblogs? And are tags okay?
Of course! Reblogs are absolutely fine and always encouraged. I’m also fine with tags as well (though I ask that you not mark anything as a ship unless I’ve marked it as such on the original post - look for the tag #veins ships if you’re ever unsure).
Can I repost/use your work for my own personal/commercial use?
Absolutely not. While I am always in support of creators inspiring each other with our works and endeavors, that does not mean anyone should engage in art theft (intentional or otherwise). Under no circumstances may you repost, reupload, reproduce, copy, trace, modify, sell, use, tokenize, scrape/integrate into A*I, and/or otherwise claim as your own any of my art/written works. Never assume a piece of art shared online in yours for the taking - that is someone else’s hard work and passion, and you need to respect that.
Can I dub one of your comics?
As flattering as that would be, I worry about lack of credit or my work being stolen for others’ content, so I sadly have to say no.
Why is there a big watermark on your art?
The state of the internet today has made me extremely paranoid about things like art theft, bad-faith reposts, nonconsensual integration, etc., so I make sure to sign and WM anything original I post. I know it’s not exactly fun to look at (maybe even distracting or bad for engagement), but I’d rather be safe than sorry, so I guess I’ll just have to take that hit.
Do you have an askbox? Can we send in questions/comments/etc.?
Yes, the ask box is currently open, and I'm more than happy to receive any questions, comments, etc. you guys might have (even if it makes me a bit nervous, haha)! I just ask that you read the rules first before you submit anything.
Do you take requests/commissions/suggestions/collabs/etc.?
Sadly, I do not take art requests or suggestions unless I put out a specific call for them. I'm also not really in a position to take commissions either. Collabs I'm on the fence about - maybe with mutuals or folks I know personally.
Is this an inclusive space?
Of course! This queer little goblin accepts everyone under the LGBTQIA+ umbrella, along with folks of all shapes, sizes, backgrounds, disabilities, and colors. That said, there will be absolutely no tolerance for (inhale) racism, sexism, transphobia, queerphobia, xenophobia, misogyny/misandry, bigotry of any kind, ableism, p***philia, inc*st, selfc*st, z**philia, RPF, trolling behavior, self-promotion, the promotion of N*FTs or A*I art, or any otherwise harmful, toxic, or hurtful rhetoric. Anyone seen behaving as such will be blocked, reported, and forgotten. :)
Is this an all-ages space?
Hmm… I’m gonna have to say no. While I probably won’t be posting/sharing anything too lewd or graphic, I’m not opposed to things like swearing, angst, fluff bordering on suggestive, and discussions of mature subject matter (all of which I will make sure to tag with content warnings as necessary). Obviously, I can’t police everyone who wanders into this blog, especially since some people omit or lie about their ages online, so the best I can do is ask for good faith on your part. If you are under 18, interact at your own risk. The last thing I want is to make anyone (myself included) uncomfortable because there are kids in an adult-allocated space. Again, I hope you understand.
What is your stance on shipping?
The vernacular around pro- or anti-shipping confuses the hell out of me, so I’ll just try to explain my personal philosophy on it: I have ships I like, ones I’m indifferent to, and ones I won’t touch with a ten-foot pole. I only reblog (and tag) ship-related content I’m in support of, even if it’s not one of my personal favorites. Most importantly, I don’t bother others about their personal preferences. Anything I don’t like or don’t support, I simply do not engage with. Or, if it makes me too uncomfortable, I block outright. The same should apply to your experience as well - if you ever see ship stuff here that you don’t like, feel free to block the tags (look for specific pairings, ship names, and/or my personal tag #veins ships) or even the blog entirely. You are not obligated to like the things I like or engage with media you don’t enjoy. Respect for each other and curation of your personal online space is always key. Additionally, I 100% will not ship minors, blood relations, self x self, anything relating to b*stiality, or anything relating to RPF.
Are you okay?
No, not even a little bit... but fuck it, we keep going.
Why do you put a comma before the “and” in a sequence of three or more words?
You can take my Oxford comma away from me when I’m cold, dead, and rotting in the dirt.
Is there anything else?
Nah, I think we’re good for now. Thanks for taking the time to read all this. Hope it wasn’t too rambly or weird - just trying to cover all my bases. I hope you all have a lovely timezone out there, wherever you are. Be sure to wash your hands, wear your mask, and stay hydrated. Remember to be strong, be safe, and, for the love of dog, be kind. Peace!

Luz and Marcy mightve gotten mocked for thinking the world's their in run on fantasy tropes, but those worlds, writhing the first few minutes, already operate on an Isekai/visiting another world trope. Namely, that despite both worlds clearly having their own WRITTEN language that isn't English, ALL of their inhabitants, none of who'm are even human beings, speak English perfectly.
That is true, I can see why they both would immediately think it's the same as their fantasies. Although, while there is no difference between how they saw their worlds, there is one difference in how they reacted. And I've said it in my Final Verdict Review for Amphibia, but Marcy is kind of the anti-Luz Noceda. Here's an excerpt of it:
"And I’m not just saying that because they’re both nerds with high energy and constant optimism. You see, Luz is a character that, just like Marcy, wanted to escape to a fantasy world and live out everything she read in her favorite books, seen in her favorite movies, and loved in her favorite anime. There’s just one key difference: Luz learned fairly quickly that all of that is nonsense. In “Witches Before Wizards,” Luz went on a quest that could have confirmed she’s just like the protagonists of her favorite stories, only to find out that reality is a lot darker and not everything is going to be like a fantasy story brought to life. It’s not just that episode, either, as, throughout the course of the series, Luz learns more and more that life is complicated. While she might have a better life on the Boiling Isles, there are times when she faces the cold reality of living in a fantasy world. Times when she makes decisions that help someone she cares about, but comes at the consequence of possibly losing someone she loves forever.
For Marcy, she doesn’t get that. Before “True Colors,” her whole experience in Amphibia was non-stop wish fulfillment, gaining everything that she ever wanted without a single consequence. Look at “The First Temple” and “New Wartwood.” These were times when Marcy saw that bad stuff happened because of stuff she caused, but in the end, everything all worked out. Similar to what happens to most protagonists. They caused something bad to happen, but they fixed it and everything ended up alright by the story’s conclusion. Because the same thing happens to Marcy, she never learns that there’s a downside to living in a fantasy world. She never learned that one can’t escape the cold, harshness that is reality.
Tumblr media
Not until it was too late.
Marcy is the worst case scenario of what Luz could have been. A character that refused to step out of fantasy and acknowledge that bad stuff can and will happen to a person who lives their life by what they’ve read, what they saw, and what they loved. It’s something that I think some kids should take note of, telling them that you can’t escape to a life that you prefer just because the real world is a little harsh. And you definitely shouldn’t drag your friends with you.
The reveal that Marcy is the reason the girls got stuck in Amphibia was a shocking one, to say the very least. It’s another example that makes her the Anti-Luz. Both willingly wanted to stay in their fantasy world, but there’s another significant difference. Luz wanting to stay was a choice, but trapping herself in the Isles became a sacrifice. For Marcy, wanting to stay and trapping herself were both a choice and never a sacrifice. Oh, she does get trapped for real, but not because she forced it upon herself. In actuality, being stuck in Amphibia the second time was more or less a punishment. In her last moments in “True Colors,” Marcy fiddling with the music box is still an attempt at wish fulfillment just like in “The First Temple” and “New Wartwood.” She messed up, but if she fixes things again, everything will work out just like last time. Except that they don’t. Marcy finally meets her first consequence and is forced to learn that what she did was wrong. And given what happens to her…
Tumblr media
Yeah, I’d say she learned her lesson. She really learned her lesson…Cheese and crackers, Matt Braly is messed up."

Featuring the super talented Rusty @oceans-foundfamily today as our artist! Read on for her thoughts on art, and you can find all of her artwork here and here!
🎨 When did you start creating art for the Inception fandom, and what is your inspiration?
I kind of stumbled upon Inception's fandom presence on the tail end of Inceptiversary 2020, which was a pretty big deal being the tenth anniversary and all. I saw all the amazing content people were making for the event, and I immediately wanted to join in. I think my first ever Inception art piece was the one where I drew the characters as animal crossing villagers (a most professional and dramatic beginning, I know). After that, I started experimenting with style and color and some more dark/serious stuff, trying to find a balance. I've found a lot of inspiration in the movies of Makoto Shinkai and some other anime-style stuff. While I don't exactly have an anime art style, his work's color palettes and large-scale cityscapes have always been something I admire. I think those aesthetics show in a lot of my work.
🎨 Tell us about your creative process, and which part do you enjoy the most about it?
I wish I had a consistent creative process, but usually it adapts to my mood, the weather, how much time I have, what I had for breakfast, and the position of Venus relative to Jupiter /j. If I'm in the mood, I'll browse pinterest until I see something with a vibe I want to replicate, I spend a couple minutes listening to music and cementing in my mind what I want to try, and then I fiddle around on my iPad/paper until the piece starts to come to life. My favorite part has to be seeing that process all the way through. I'm all about experimenting with new things, so I'll put on some music to keep my stim brain happy and get to work. I can usually draw for three to five hours at a time on a good day.
🎨 Link us to your first and latest artwork, and how your style has evolved since then?
My first Inception artwork was the animal crossing one, where I was just kind of messing around before I really got into Inception content. My most recent non-meme fully finished piece was the ocean one with Cobb and Saito (I'm so good at titling art, huh?). Looking at it now, I think some parts of my original style have stayed intact, like the rounded, thicker outlines. But besides that, I think I've really come a long way since 2020. I learned how to color things, and fell in love with Inception as creative inspiration. I think that love really shows in the art.
🎨 What is your absolute favorite piece of art that you've made, and why?
My favorite piece of art I've ever made is also the biggest one I've ever made, and the one that took the longest. It's called Leap of Faith, and it's not just my favorite because I like the way it looks--it was probably the most fun I ever had making art. If you were following me or on Discord around this time, you know I was hyper and posting progress pics every five minutes because I was so excited about it. This was a big experiment with lighting, mostly. A fun secret about this piece is that the entire color palette is taken from a scene from the movie Your Name. I've used Your Name as inspiration for a lot of my Cobb x Saito stuff, both art and writing. I don't know what it is about that movie that makes me think of them, but it's something about connection against all odds. Also pretty colors.
🎨 What is something about Inception that you really want to make art for someday, and why?
Another big artist inspiration for me is Simon Stålenhag. I read his book The Electric State, and I'm obsessed with his ability to capture emotions in art that sometimes doesn't even have living entities in it. He can show everything from hope to despair in just a cityscape. I would love to make art like his portraying limbo, or Saito's castle.
🎨 Give a shoutout to your favorite Inception artists here!
It's so hard to pick only a few, but I will never get tired of @lemon-yellow‘s watercolors. Lemon has made all my ship dreams come true, and I owe a lot to her. Also, @katribou has some amazing and hilarious Inception art that really got me into the fandom. Finally, shoutout to @dingdangit who brought the Muppet Inception screenplay to life.
🎨 Anything else you'd like to talk about art and the Inception fandom in general ❤
I really owe this fandom so much in terms of all my art. I rediscovered my love of both painting and writing through Inception, and everyone has been cheerleading for me since the beginning. While I may not be active as often in the fandom, I'm now designing tattoos and working towards a career as an author, and I can't say I'd be doing any of this if the gang hadn't hyped up my fanfiction and convinced me that I could draw. Shoutout to everyone in this fandom, even if you don't create and simply comment and leave likes on other people's work. It's all so inspirational, and incredibly important for emerging artists. Having this space to create and experiment in has been so good for my art. Also shoutout to all the smaller ship folks. In a mostly one-ship fandom, we're still going strong and making art, and I think that's awesome.

So this is in reply to a post where a bunch of popular disability blogs were essentially yelling eugenicist ideas at each other. I’m replying here because I don’t think I’d be met with good faith on the original post, and because this stands on its own I think.
Anyways
If we want to have anything approaching a radical and helpful disability movement, we have to talk about eugenics. We have to talk about white supremacy.
We have to build theoretical frameworks, learn our history, and most importantly, learn the theories and history of those we are trying to fight. Otherwise we are lashing out at an enemy while having no idea how to effectively fight them. (1)
Capitalism is bad. But, capitalism isn’t the Big Bad. It’s not the Final Evil that you can kill and erase all other systems of oppression. In fact, if you don’t unlearn the root ideologies of capitalism, your anti capitalist actions may be just as harmful or worse than the current system.
As best I can tell, the root ideologies of capitalism are Eugenics and White Supremacy.
And one thing to understand is that on the Venn diagram of Eugenics and White Supremacy, it’s basically a circle. All eugenicists are building towards white supremacy (whether they want to or not). And all white supremacists are doing eugenics (whether they understand it or not).
Broadly speaking, eugenics is the process of biological power accumulation. White supremacy is the process of social power accumulation.
The goal of both is to ‘breed a better race of perfect whites,’ and ‘to breed races of servants that are suited to providing for the master race. ‘ this is not conspiracy. This was the stated goal of the entire American political system from fairly early on. [edit, and the stated goal of feudalism to some extent but that’s complicated, and the British empire, I digress, but this isnt a recent invention]
This is the root of the Progressive movement (it was all about progressing the race, in this case always meaning the white race).
This is the roots of the Klan. And the cops. And of landlords, and the education system, and scientific institutions, and most of modern Christianity, and the medical system is there to finish you off. They are all founded on the ideals of eugenics and white supremacy.(2)
And something you have to understand is that in the mind of these power seeking white supremacist eugenicists, being a person of color *is a disability*. White people can be disabled too, but categorically, they view all non white people as disabled, inferior, and somewhere between human (which to them means master race) and animal (which to them essentially means tool that works on its own).
White supremacy is trying to domesticate us. All of us. They are tying to figure how to ‘utilize’ the ‘animals’ at their disposal.
•If youre intelligent, your basically a better version of a computer to them, and that’s it.
•If your strong, they see you as a draft animal.
•A good companion and friend? They see you as a pet.
Capitalism is the name we give to the breeding project. That’s it. That’s what alll this is. All the systems are literally designed to kill those that they don’t want breading, or to stop them from having kids. All these systems are to encourage the “top quality” white women to breed. All these systems are to create a white future with a small, controlled, and self managing system of servants.
If you want to fight for disability rights *this!!!* is what you have to fight against. And you have to start by fighting against it within your own mind.
Disclaimer: Please feel free to critique me. I’m a white girl talking about white supremacy, I know for a fact I’m missing nuance. But treat this as a starting point to build better ideas. Tear me down brick by brick if you have to, but use those bricks to develope a systemic analysis if that is at all possible for you. If it’s not, then do what you can.
Footnotes
1. When I say “we” need to learn this stuff, I mean the disability movement as a whole needs to hold this knowledge. It’s impossible for anyone person to know everything relevant. But learn what you can and share it frequently and with a desire to teach. Accept knowledge and critique, and critique all knowledge you accept.
2. If you want to know the history, stick around. I’ll keep explaining things as long as I possibly can. I promise. But the fastest way to learn it yourself is to look up the views that different historical movements had on eugenics, white supremacy, and power accumulation. and then try to connect that to the actions they took. Follow the trails of how their ideologies informed their work, and how their work led to the hellscape we are currently in.

The Transformers comics are coming back this fall in the newly christened “Energon Universe”… not to be confused with the Transformers Energon segment of the Unicron Trilogy. This new Energon Universe comes courtesy of Image Comic’s Skybound imprint, and shares the universe with GI Joe and new, surprisingly owned by Hasbro, IP called “Void Rivals”. Aside from Void Rivals, which so far features a factionless Jetfire cameo, the TFs and Joe comics are, so far at least, self contained stories, with no need to pick up the other if you don’t want to. I suspect this will eventually change though, with the upcoming Autobot, Maximal and GI Joe team up sequel movie underway.
As suspected before, the new Transformers comics are a back to basics approach where the Autobots and Decepticons awaken on Earth and resume their war. The use of the Decepticons as proper antagonists again is a great start, given their awkwardly implemented roles in IDW2, Cyberverse, their largely downplayed role in EarthSpark so far, and their semi curious absence in Rise of the Beasts in favor of the Terrorcons. Megatron is similarly poised to be in his more traditional role as the evil leader, whether or not he becomes the “Autobot” version later on remains to be seen, but I kinda hope not. It was an interesting take in IDW, but after Cyberverse botched it, and EarthSpark trying it again in a kid friendly way, I’m kinda ready to return to Megatron’s bombastic, revels in being bad personality we haven’t seen since the G1 cartoon based Devastation. Especially since Hasbro continues to be somewhat weird about making new villains or repurposing old villains to take over Megatron’s mantle anyway, might as well stick to the classics.
As for LGBT stuff, it’ll pry be in there, but maybe not in the same way IDW awkwardly implemented it. I can see something like Sunstreaker having a boyfriend or a Silverbolt/BlackArachnia dynamic with a same sex couple, and that’s the extent of it among the TFs at the moment, but I suspect for now it’ll be more like the G1 cartoon to bring in normies and then they ease in to LGBT stuff organically. I’ve heard one person offer the idea, and mind you they were somewhat unsure about Nightshade being NB when it was suggested, that rather than a Transformer be LGBT, that a human ally be that instead, and the Autobots get to learn about another unique facet of human cultures and lifestyles that, presumably in the case, differs from Cybertron. We do have this with the NB girl that’s friends with Nightshade, I forget their name, so we have a precedent for it.
And even if the Energon Universe doesn’t cover that as some would like, it’s been said Hasbro wants to make EarthSpark comics anyway, AND Skybound is apparently going to make other non Energon Universe Transformers comics! Presumably this could include new movie comics, as Beasts is doing really well as of typing, and movie tie in comics are missed. It’d be an excellent way to flesh out the RotB cast more, expand on Unicron, and tease more GI Joe stuff along future Decepticon/Predacon/Terrorcon encounters.
I’m hazarding a guess that the reason it’s called the Energon Universe is probably because, similar to the Energon cartoon, Energon itself is the defacto energy source of this universe. I semi wonder if that means the Joes’ and Cobras’ machines will also be powered by Energon also. Interestingly, rather than the pink and blue color the fuel has appeared as in the past, Void Rivals depicts it as a yellow color similar to the Energon anime. I sort of wonder if later on they’ll try to include the Micronauts and MASK, the two being created as a reaction to the Transformers in IDW. Micronauts and ROM meanwhile are having a sort of resurgence also, with the reprinted Marvel Comics omnibuses coming out later this year.
The other surprise is while Void Rivals is an original Image IP, it is apparently owned by Hasbro, making it part of the Hasbro Universe. Depending on how that goes, we could see seeing the aliens from there in future Transformers productions I wager. I assume VR being owned by Hasbro is to avoid some legal kerfluffles that prevented things like some older Marvel reprinting from happening.
Still it’ll be exciting to see what the future holds for the comics side of things going forward!

I need DC Nuclear Winter Kara Zor El to replace mainline-canon Kara
Tumblr media
I need this more seasoned, tougher/older Kara to replace the cheerleader, vanilla supertoken cosplayer.
NW Kara looks like see’s seen shit, done things, been there, experienced. And she has her own life now with this little one.
So sick of looking at this:
Tumblr media
Just eye candy, glorified Superman cosplayer with no impact or real relevance (Correction: She’s had impact but usually when she fucking died lol), when most of the Robins have more going for them in terms of storytelling intrigue than Supergirl, there’s a problem..
Cause every time she dies an honorable death or a good idea or concept is introduced for her (Red Lanter/Daughter of Darkseid), DC just keeps bringing her back to square ‘BLAND’ one.
Fact is, she needs to stop riding Superman’s coattails & do something else.
Become a plumber, something, anything. jfc.
OR like when the Viltrumies infiltrated Earth to live normal lives per the Thragg/Mark/Nolan truce
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Have her raise her child with a spouse (male/female) out in Norway or something, she’s a First Responder and she can take care of situations/dangers with her powers when they show up, very lowkey.
She doesn’t want to be a costumed “superhero”, but wants to help. Then when big Crisis events happen, she gets involved in Kryptonian Ceremonial garment.
Or do everything i said.... just on ANOTHER PLANET- where a full-blooded Kryptonian would be needed.
That’s different enough from Clark to where she can do hero stuff, live a life, and it’s not her wearing his colors just for the sake of it. Like she’s following the trend or something.
Tumblr media
Superboy Conner, clone of Lex & Kal, serious identity crisis story.
Tumblr media
Young Justice Superboy, a lot more mortality, acceptance of self, also anger issues, & other lessons learned with this version of Conner.
Tumblr media
Then Clark Kent (Prime) who was such an unstable mess, killed so many, while believing he was the hero. Dude was menace.
Eventually ended up getting his shit together and saving everyone, multiverse scale.
SERIOUS fall from grace/redemption story.
Tumblr media
In terms of Superman Lore: SUPERBOY PRIME is how you do a knock-off Supertoken- right.
I’m going to commit to skimming through her recent arcs to see if there’s anything worth reading (Supergirl Rebirth #1 was underwhelming) DC REALLY needs to venture out their comfort zone & canonize something different for Kara.
Red Hood is proof that a spinoff character doesn’t have to coattail ride the original template; She doesn’t need to pull a “Supergirl being SUPER” & basically be Clark.
Let her be something of her own, and what that is doesn’t have to be entirely nice or appealing, which is where her staying power is, just a cutesy female superman. RULE 63 Gimmick appeal
Guarantee you, as soon they do that, she’ll evolve beyond that surface level appeal and will blow up & actually have a stake in the DC Universe beyond being token female superman and being present in Crisis events.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Otherwise she’ll remain in the hamster wheel cycle of being a non-factor, side attraction.
I’ve read some of the Danvers matrix arc back in the day, weird but i appreciate the attempt BACK then to do something different. Wouldn’t mind if they brought her back.
Tumblr media
Read some New52 Supergirl, bought the #1 day 1 it dropped back in 2011, hated her goddamn suit. Really liked her anger issues/flaws, & how that tied into Red Lantern but ofc that didn’t last.
The Batman/Superman debut for her introduced the Darkseid thing ofc not only did that not go anywhere but they killed her, as she died saving Superman, Superman’s alone again, which is his part of tragedy, good.
She died honorably.............
....then she came back anyway, lmfao.
Hell i prefer Caitlin Fairchild over Supergirl
Smart as shit brawler, on the shy side, yet ironically the bonified LEADER of her team because she knows what she’s doing.
Not a knockoff of anyone, the one & only Fairchild of Gen13.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nuclear Winter, as simple as it was is worthy of being canon. I want an animated short for this, the works.
The most interesting Kara’s been for me in years and all they did was get rid of the midriff & skirt, the girl next door appeal, allow her to grow up and adopt a child; Now she has a real, tangible responsibility.
Something of her own.
simple things.

Staying Humble and Young at Heart as a Manga Fan
So I found out about an event that happened around Anime NYC weekend last year that involved Crunchyroll working with a organization dedicated to teaching manga literacy to black kids at a public school in the Bronx.
Tony Weaver’s Weird Enough Productions has gotten a lot of attention for spreading the love of anime and manga to marginalized communities. Crunchyroll News interviewed Weaver about the power of manga literacy. It was a really good interview where Weaver provided some great answers. There’s one question and one answer that reminded me (and should remind others) of what’s the most important thing when it comes to fandom.
This is what was said.
Q: Have you noticed any interesting data or trends with young readers as manga has become more and more accessible and accepted into the mainstream?
Weaver: The most wholesome thing I’ve noticed is that young readers are extremely welcoming. If you think about it, anime has been mainstream for at least a decade at this point, but the young readers that are driving its popularity right now don’t seem to be focused on elitism or pointing fingers about who a “real” anime fan is. They’re just really happy they get to enjoy the content. That's the sort of attitude I like to encourage.
I love this answer because I feel like kids just love consuming and sharing their interests with no filter. I work at a non-profit organization that actually does outreach to schools full of kids of color that are from low-income families and schools in the Bronx (like Weaver did his event for) are a big target to us. In my work, I’ve gotten to know the anime and manga interests of black kids through student essays and my department overhears the students who stop by our organization talking about anime a lot.
I also think about anime elitists and who comes off as one. Most of the time, I feel that they’re WEIRD - white, educated, industrialized, rich, democratic. I see a lot of fan anime opinions come from mostly white folks who want to dictate what we should like. In my experience, black anime fans aren’t spouting elitist stuff about who’s a real anime fan. They keep it real and talk about how cool anime is to everyone.
Though, regardless of race, when you get to explore more anime/manga due to being shunned outside of fandom, you can start to do the shunning at some point. Once we learn more about the details that make a certain anime/manga series appealing, we take pride in having that knowledge and put ourselves on some sort of pedestal. I know I’ve done this a few times. Weaver did a 2022 interview with CR News and he expressed concerns about that as well. This is what he said.
“Weaver: Yeah. I think what happens sometimes is that there are a lot of anime fans who have been othered so much that they begin to identify with that otherness. So, mentally, the only way that they know themselves and that they understand themselves is through the feeling, “I like this thing that's different from everything else. You watch cartoons, I watch anime! I'm different.” Because they have been othered so much — there's so much pain associated with that — rather than finding areas of common ground to relate to people, they're like, “No, I'm different! I watch stuff with refined storylines.”
And when you go up to them and say things like, “oh well why isn't Avatar: The Last Airbender an anime?” And they’re like, “it’s not an anime because it wasn't animated in Japan, it was animated by a Korean animation studio.” Okay. Studio Wit sub-contracts their animation to animators in Korea. Are the first three seasons of Attack on Titan not an anime since it was animated by people who live in Korea? I don't know, you tell me. What do you do?
With the stories I tell, the people that I talk to, the communities that I get the privilege to be a part of, what I try to do is talk about how the magical thing about anime is not how it separates us from the general public. The magical thing about it is not like displaying your refined taste because you understand all the Biblical allusions in Neon Genesis Evangelion. That's not what it is.
The magical thing about being an anime fan is that you can turn to a random person and go, "Hey, this is Shinji, and he's about to get in the robot," and instead of looking at you like you're crazy, that person says, "Oh? What happens next? What kind of robot is it? What's he fighting? Why does he need the robot in order to fight it?" I think that level of possibility and that broad wealth of storytelling...that's what makes it special. That's what makes it a community I want to be a part of.”
Anime and manga are about getting hyped to see characters struggle, fight, and manage to reach their goals and sharing that hype with those who feel the same as you. I’m not ashamed to admit that I feel various emotions when I witness certain heroic events in shonen manga and love talking about them to others who want to listen.
I feel that we’re always beaten down by comparisons as we get older because knowledge that’s supposed to help us (i.e. allusions/references) can end up ruining important relationships we need in our lives. I get that certain fans can be problematic, but they aren’t the majority despite being heavily focused on too much. Show that the world of fandom is often wondrous even if it’s not clickbait-worthy.
I applaud people like Weaver because the young readers are one of our hopes in ensuring that our current renaissance of manga will lead to even greater times for manga reading in the West. There’s some kids out there who are doing amazing things and are very thoughtful about the state of the world.
And if you ever feel stressed due to wanting to stand out as a fan to others, as Weaver highlights and as Gintama’s Gintoki Sakata once said, holding on to the kid inside you is the best way to enjoy life.

100+ Films of 1952
Film number 107: The Jungle
Release date: August 1st, 1952
Studio: Lippert Pictures
Genre: Adventure
Director: William Berke, Ellis Dungan
Producer: T. R. Sundaram, William Berke, Ellis Dungan, Robert L. Lippert
Actors: Rod Cameron, Cesar Romero, Marie Windsor
Running Time: 73 minutes
Plot Summary: An Indian princess returns home to help her people when entire villages are being wiped out by stampeding elephants. A famous white hunter tasked with shooting them comes back with a harrowing tale- the elephants aren’t the real problem- it's... Wooley Mammoths?
My Rating (out of five stars): *½. Whew, this was bad. Like seriously, it's one of the worst films out of the 107 that I’ve watched! Everything was a mess- the threadbare plot, the acting, the special effects, the music... I’m sure at least 50% of the movie consisted of people just walking... and walking... and walking...
The Good:
It was shot entirely on location in India. For a low budget film, that was pretty amazing. The views of cities, palaces, and jungles were beautiful and fascinating to take in.
Much of the cast consisted of actual Indian actors and extras.
Marie Windsor in jodhpurs. Yummy.
The Bad:
Brownface! The three leads were all Westerners (two whites and one Latino), and two of them were slathered in brown makeup to supposedly make them look like Indians.
The thin thin plot. The actual story was basically a 30-minute drama padded out to more than twice that length. It had more filler than an aging Hollywood actor.
The structure and pacing. It felt like a rough draft, it was so disjointed and abrupt- “We need exposition! Now let's have some ‘exotic’ culture stuff! Now let’s have an animal fight scene! Now a love triangle! Now another animal fight scene!” Etc etc etc.
The acting. Rod Cameron as Bentley was the worst offender- he was as wooden as a pile of lumber. Even Marie Windsor was pretty stilted, and she was the reason I wanted to watch the film in the first place. She’s been very good in every other thing I've seen her in. The horrible dialogue here did not do her any favors, I'm sure.
The special effects. Looking for a laugh? Watch the special effects in this movie!
The sepia colored film. Instead of black and white, this was filmed in sepia. It just looked muddy, bland, and washed out.
The use of animals. The animals were transparently there to pad out the run time and add some action unrelated to the plot. We saw boars, bears, leopards, tigers, monkeys, elephants, scorpions, several varieties of snakes... Most of the time they were fighting humans or fighting each other. Instead of being excited by it, I just felt concerned about how humane it all was.
The non-diegetic music was distracting and monotonous. It tried to be some kind of Hollywood fusion of Eastern and Western, but it only succeeded in being annoying.
The mind-numbing amount of walking scenes. I might need to check my fitbit to see if anything registered on it! It was just plodding and boring.
I didn't care about any of the characters. They were all cardboard cutouts that we learned precious little about.
The utter ridiculousness of the premise. Wooley Mammoths deep in the Indian jungle? Yeah, that tracks.
Again with the horrible exploitative Lippert movie posters! “10,000 square miles of dangers and a woman was the greatest danger of all!” WTF?! Princess Sita was probably the least dangerous person on the screen! And what about those huge murderous monstrous Mammoths??

sigh
I really wanted to write today but I’m in a terrible mood so it’s not going to happen
certainly, 10 hour work days are not helping. i’m exhausted and there’s one more day left and every animal in my household is fussing nonstop
also my previous position at work is about to open up because the person who replaced me gave notice
I had that job for 3.5 years (I got my new position in january) and I was really good at it but it’s not stimulating and it’s entry level so I was bored most of the time. my new job is honestly what I’m planning to do as a career at this point and I’m thinking about going to school for it but my now-boss is a piece of shit
like he’s literally a reddit troll (he’s bragged about being banned from aita. that’s how much of a jerk he is) and my previous boss is the best boss I’ve ever had
I could go back and have the boring, go nowhere job I used to have but I won’t feel miserable because of my boss and I’ll have a team I enjoy working with and a supervisor and manager I can respect
but I know I’m going to stay in this position
I was literally told by the head of the company to apply for this position and I was the only applicant and I’m learning a lot
but goddamn I fucking hate my boss
I have never hated anyone the way I hate him. I hate everything about him. I hate everything he likes (because he likes it)
he’s a jackass and he loves antagonizing people (see: reddit troll). that’s his favorite past time. I’ve gotten good at ignoring him (I refuse to have non-work conversations with him and will not discuss any of my interests around him because he likes to tell people they’re wrong about anything and everything, even when he is proven wrong he’ll stick to his bullshit). He also claims to be rich (despite working for a shitty little unknown company for a pittance) and to have this fantastic and amazing life and says he knows basically every celebrity. Most of us at work assume he’s making up 90% of his life. Also he’s a creepy 40 something who only dates women under 25.
I know that some of wanting to go back to my old position is me seeing it through rose colored glasses. It wasn’t great a lot of the time and a lot of the good times were because I had a room mate who was my work bestie and she’s left the company. I was unhappy with it a lot of the time because I don’t like monotony and my new job has a lot of variability and a lot of learning. My overtime hours have been spent assisting the people in my previous department to get stuff done and there’s so much that’s changed and I’ve forgotten so much that I basically can’t do anything without help.
I’m just tired and I want this week to be over.

Some people are expecting commentary from me, but I’ve been super busy lately. When I’m like this, I like to only talk about things I haven’t seen other people saying.
So I liked Kuro Neko a lot. It was very solid imo and I appreciate the alternation between episodes where a ton of action happens (Ephemeral, Penalteam) vs episodes where the two dorks just kinda talk to each other and not much happens heroes-vs-villains-wise (Glaciator 2.0, Kuro Neko). Commentary speed run: Adrien pajamas hell yeah finally, wtf Nathalie out of bed? Good for her but ouch those braces. Rhythm (is that her real name?) was super cute and wholesome as a “villain”, and I love the senti. Lastly, Plagg is awesome at drawing?
But here’s what I wanted to talk the most about.
CT’s favorite thing: new heroes
The almost-last batch of my blorbos have arrived so clearly I stared at screenshots of all of them for 48 hours and noticed some stuff. I would like to point out that these 48 hours also let me go through what I call The Five Stages of New Hero Grief aka getting over the instant repulsion people feel upon seeing their designs for the first time and learning to love and accept them.
Tumblr media
Between his ram-like original concept and the antelope-like final Caprikid, I don’t think Nathaniel actually knows what a goat is? My manga rec for him is one of those baby picture books about different types of animals. Now that I’ve gotten used to him, I actually like his suit. It reminds me of Mitsuru Kirijo from Persona 3. I feel like I’d like him waaaay more if his hair was different, though. It throws me off that it’s so similar to its usual style, even if it’s a little different, so any sort of more noticeable change would’ve made him look more natural. Idk why his paintbrush would have golden metal if everything on him is silver, but oh well.
Sabrina looks just about how I expected her to. I totally called it that she would have a hat. I’ll talk about her design more when I get to that image of her standing upright ‘cause this angle sucks, but I think the marble-designed ball on her chest could be her tool. If her power has to do with tracking, maybe she’ll be useful in tracking down the original, non-clone Penalty who has the actual akumatized object on her.
Tumblr media
Minotaurox my beloved. Everyone’s saying that they see his suit as black, but I see it as navy blue? It’s a kinda desaturated color compared to most of the other suits, but he’s still all blue? (Trust me, I have perfect color vision). I like the way his mask is, it’s new and interesting. I also love the big cargo pockets. Practical. I think the puffy part around his shoulders is supposed to be like an ox yoke. His boots kinda confuse me ‘cause cloved hooves like that could never work irl but I guess it’s just part of the magic. I feel like his normal hair works well with his design because his suit is pretty reminiscent of Ivan’s usual clothes with the cargo pockets, boots, dark colors, and not a lot of details or flashiness. That’s why Nathaniel’s bothers me a little, since his clothes, on the other hand, looks so different from his usual self.
Marc looks fantastic. Glad to finally see an HD image because now we can see the gold trim which is awesome. I like his little scarf, I love his tail, and somewhat unpopular opinion but I love his hair. I’m mixed on the shoes. They make sense, and I always prefer designs being heavily influenced by the animal traits over “this looks good”, so I can’t complain, but how is he gonna kick a soccer ball without wrecking it? I guess it’s a magic ball idk. Super important detail that I haven’t seen anyone talk about: is it just me, or does he have earrings in his left (our right) ear? If you zoom in, it looks like he does. Bunnyx twins? In the picture below, I noticed that his feathers aren’t flat to his chest like I previously thought.
Tumblr media
There are four heroes whose animals have hooves, yet zero of them have hoof prints on the bottom of their shoes. My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.
What I want everyone to look at is the glimpse we have of Ivan’s back. I think his tool’s on there, but what is it? It’s pretty big. Big hammer? Musical instrument? Idk
One thing I do appreciate is that they didn’t go pussy mode with the horns. If the character designers were cowards, they could’ve easily given us Minotaurox and Caprikid with tiny stubs, but they did not, and for that I am grateful.
Tumblr media
First glimpse of Marc’s tool. They changed it from a fountain pen type thing to a quill, but they way he’s holding it makes it look kinda like a combat knife lol. Like in Hack-San, when most of the kids got brainwashed by Robustus, Marc is one again standing in the middle and a bit in front of all the other side characters, and he’s the one speaking for them. This is some consistent new development since it happened twice, and it makes me wonder how important he’s going to become because he was so irrelevant in previous seasons, but he’s changed a lot in s4. I think he’s probably the “beloved character with a big role coming up, like more than this character has ever spoken before” that Ezra Weisz talked about once in a tik tok.
Sabrina looks way cuter in this image than in the trailer imo. Her suit is similar to her normal clothes in that 70s-like aesthetic. Another important thing that nobody’s talking about: is it just me or does she have glasses in this shot? Zoom in on her mask. It looks like she has frameless oval glasses, but I can’t tell if they’re there or not in the trailer shot. If I’m seeing what I think I’m seeing, I like them a lot. They’re cute, and it’s nice to see a girl with glasses not lose them for “aesthetic reasons”. The white part on her chest/belly is a heart aww. Her boots look like those tall schoolgirl type socks, and that plus the shorts, beret, and glasses has a huge vintage prep vibe.
I bet Ladybug is drawing out a game plan in this scene, but everyone’s expressions are so funny. Every single character could be a different reaction meme.
Last thing: I’m trying to imagine how Ladybug is going to give out all of these miraculous. We know the class starts all together, so it’d be tough to separate them all to individually give them miraculous in different locations later. On top of that, there are four more heroes in three other locations, and they’re probably all supposed to be in class right now. I wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t explain how they get busted out of class, but in Kuro Neko we see how collecting the miraculous from even four temp heroes is stressful and time consuming for Ladybug. Maybe this is the episode where she’ll start considering making more people/all of them permanent at some point, and maybe even considering that everyone knowing each other’s identities would make things way easier.
That’s all for now. I have no time, but I’m sooo tempted to draw the four of them in fashion inspired by their hero forms waking down the street “late with iced coffee”. I can see the designs in my head already. I hope to see fan art of all four of them, and I really hope the show will develop all of them at least a little this episode.
