I’ve noticed Jimin bring this up a lot recently, especially yesterday during his cute workshop vlog, and it’s got me curious. He’s been mentioning that he’s become really shy and kinda anxious/or awkward when he is doing a vlive or something by himself, and I’m not sure why? The big thing I can most definitely see if the pandemic having an effect on it, but during 2020 they were pretty active on vlive and doing things remotely so I’m curious if something else happened that made his anxious by himself? Like he did a few vlive’s during 2020 and then there seemed to be a shift and I can count a few small statements where he mentions saying it is weird being by himself and wanting his members. My heart aches whenever he says those things cause I don’t like being by myself and can relate, it’s just something I noticed he is saying now and I just got curious cause it seems to be new. 💜 보라해

Jimin has actually been talking about being or feeling shy for a very long time, not just the past few years. He was self nominated and all the members agreed in an older interview that he was the most shy member in the group. Namjoon then made the iconic "he is shy, just not on stage" comment lol which encouraged many.... many edits.... 🤣

JK in 2020 also voted Jimin as the member who is most shy (Jimin voting JK lol)

Many ARMYs over the years would describe Jimin as being the most shy member when they spoke to them at fansigns too, even when he can also be crazy bold with them at times too.

He was described in a few different articles over the years about being shy, but still bold.

He often gets shy easily, especially when he makes a mistake or messes up and would go hide with or hug on the members to bring himself comfort. Lol

He IS an extrovert, but he is most comfortable with people he knows well and loves around him and with him. And I think it's always been this way. There is no one way to be an extrovert or introvert btw. Extrovert doesn't mean you aren't shy. It just means that you draw energy from being around people. And introvert means you draw energy from being alone. Jimin likes being around people. Doesn't mean he is comfortable around ALL people right away. Lol it just means he likes being around HIS people whenever he can. 🥰 and that he would prefer the company of the people he loves and is comfortable around then being alone.

But that has nothing to do with people he doesn't know! Lol which is probably where that shyness starts kicking in. But who knows. In the end, I trust Jimin knows himself best and does whatever brings him happiness. And I'm glad he is surrounded by so many people who loves him! All 3 logs so far has included them talking about missing the other members. They all really do love each other dearly.

🤡 What's a line, scene, or exchange you've written that made you laugh?

Maybe this errs on the sweeter side of funny, but there’s one tiny exchange in “what a mother wants” that I’m really fond of.

The backstory is that a few summers ago, I babysat quite frequently for some dear friends of mine. Their kids have an impressive collection of stuffed toys, and of course, each and every one of them has to have a name—and to my surprise and amusement, these little fuzzy pandas and sloths and such are often named after fully-grown, real-life adults in their lives. Like, first AND last name and all. 😂

SO. All that to say, I’m very very fond of this exchange between Kaz and his daughter, which I not-so-slyly slipped into a parenthetical aside near the end of the fic:

Say thank you to Aaji, Kaz had instructed her, and when Lieze complied, he’d asked her, What will you name it? Lieze had contemplated for a moment, face taking on an expression reminiscent of her father. Jesper Fahey, she’d finally declared decisively, and Kaz had groaned.

✨ Give you and your writing a compliment. Go on now. You know you deserve it.

Oh goodness! Okay. Um…

Well, I’ve always been fond of this line near the very end of “someone to watch over me:”

When she entered her room, she noticed that the four showy flower arrangements had been removed. Instead, atop her pillow sat a small bouquet of geraniums, clearly hand-picked, and tied with a single red ribbon.

Inej opened the small note attached to the ribbon, already grinning widely, her heart fluttering like petals tossed to the wind.

I drew the imagery of “petals tossed to the wind” from that (iconic) scene where wild geranium petals rain over her when Kaz rescues her at the Goedmedbridge in Crooked Kingdom. The simile felt quite apropos for a fic scene where Kaz is leaving a little geranium bouquet for her. 🥰

🦅Do you outline fics or fly by the seat of your pants?

👖👖👖My fics usually come together in patches—I’ll have a scene here, a scene there, a scrap of dialogue, a concept of a given’s scene choreography… but then all the connective tissue between those points isn’t determined until I’m actually writing. This is part of why I mostly write one shots; I think outlining a multi-chapter fic would be a nightmare for me. 😅 (And also, the time constraints of law school make it hard for me to plan ahead that much.)

I really enjoy the freedom I have in this creative process. For me, writing fic is a total escape from the strictures of academic/professional writing, and I worry that holding myself to a strict outline would suck a bit of the joy out of it. But I know that for other people, it’s just a helpful organizational tool! I spend more time on the back end of fic writing (editing and revising and figuring out how to piece existing scenes together) than on the front end (planning and outlining). Everyone’s process is so different!

🧠 Pick a character, and I'll tell you my favorite headcanon for them. - Jesper

(why did this turn into a mini-fic? why do I do this? ….here, have a thing:)

Jesper is the first person to whom Kaz confesses that he loves Inej.

The moon is high and the bottle of whiskey is running dangerously low. The two of them are sprawled out on the grass of the Van Eck garden looking at the night sky, because it was suddenly very important for a very drunk Jesper to point out all the constellations Colm Fahey taught him, and to pass along the stories Colm had learned growing up on the Wandering Isle.

The first mistake Kaz makes is disputing Jesper’s account: “No, you’ve got it all wrong,” he slurs, “My Da told me and Jordie this other story about those three stars on the right…”

And because Jesper knows a bit about Jordie by now, he becomes solemn and quiet; sobered, even in his utter drunkenness, as Kaz tells the story.

“I’m sorry you lost him,” Jesper finally whispers, and for a long moment, the trickle of the water in the nearby canal is the only sound between them.

Kaz grumbles something unintelligible at first, refusing to meet Jesper’s gaze. “It’s been ten years,” he finally articulates, and Jesper can see him clenching the grass at his sides with his pale, ungloved hands. “It shouldn’t still hurt. If I were stronger…if I were stronger, it wouldn’t still hurt. I got even with Pekka Rollins. I got my revenge. What’s left?”

“What’s left?” Jesper retorts a bit too loudly, pushing himself up to sit on his elbows, then immediately collapsing back to the ground at the wave of dizziness that follows. “What’s left is that you loved him, Kaz. Like I loved my Ma—like any of us still love anyone we lost. The love doesn’t just…fade away, just because they’re gone,” Jesper spits out, gesturing wildly with his hands. “And you’re an even bigger podge than I thought if you think that makes you weak,” he finishes resolutely, waggling one drunken finger near Kaz’s face.

Kaz rolls his eyes at the insult (and the finger), but seems to let the words sink in; the expression on his face tells Jesper how intensely he’s turning them over in his mind.

“Ugh,” Jesper groans, “what are you scheming about right now?”

“I love Inej,” Kaz starts simply—and it is a simple statement; a simple truth; one that neither Kaz nor Jesper is really surprised by, even if Jesper is a smidge surprised Kaz is actually willing to admit it out loud. “But I haven’t told her. Just in case…” Kaz’s mouth clamps shut, then opens once more, as though he cannot resist the drunken spill of words from his mouth at this moment. “I don’t want to be left alone with that kind of hurt ever again.”

And the pain, the fear, that washes over Kaz’s face for an uncontrolled instant—too long to believe Kaz doesn’t feel anything, even if he tried to deny it—has Jesper sliding his hands over the pearl-handled revolvers at his hips, trying to resist the urge to reach out and do something stupid, like hug his best friend.

“You wouldn’t be left alone,” Jesper promises fiercely. “Not this time. Not ever again. I haven’t always made myself trustworthy, but tell me you trust me about that much?” he pleads.

Kaz nods slowly, his throat bobbing as his gaze remains fixed determinedly on the sky.

“Good,” Jesper breathes. “That’s—that’s good.”

When their voices fade to silence once more, something like relief rises in the quiet that they’ve left behind.

“Kaz?” Jesper can’t help but ask a few minutes later.

“Hmmph.” The hangovers are going to hurt tomorrow.

“You’ve gotta make me your best man, okay?”

Kaz shoots up in a panic. Jesper maintains his position on the ground, arms tucked lackadaisically beneath his head. “We’re not getting married, Jesper.”

“Of course you aren’t,” he laughs airily. “I mean, you’d be a real asshole if you didn’t tell her you loved her before you proposed.”

“Fuck you, Jes.”

“Love you too, Kaz.”

they are an entirely self produced + self choreographed group. all the members take part in the songwriting process, throwing out ideas for lyrics. 🐈‍⬛ is the main lyricist of the group, being the one who writes and composes for both so(u)l and l(u)ne. 🐺 is the one who produces. oliver is the main choreographer + dancer. the three of them are called starlyz (star + leaders) by the fans

the group is under a fictional company, strmrunner ent, that’s a joint creation by jyp and hybe. both companies had doubts for this group doing well, meaning the effort they put in wasn’t much at all. so(u)l built themselves from the ground up, and have most creative freedom when it comes to what they chose to do for songs, themes, public appearances, etc. the management who stuck with them since the beginning adore the members as they’re always very mindful & considerate of the staff

ryo came so close to giving up on debuting due to the hardships the group faced in their earlier days. it took all the members, a lost pair of shoes, and one big group meeting that ended in crying and hugging to make him realize that this is his family; he’d made it this fair so he can’t just leave now

So much to update you on!

Let's see: I had covid two weeks and might have something else because of it. Going to the doctor tomorrow. The new apartment has been so amazing to my boys and I. My youngest son, Octavius, is turning two years old next month on the 27th and the plan is to take him out to a fright night and trunk or treat. I'm also in the process of starting a side job of making icons and other edits for a low price. Saving up for a tablet to use for editing programs. Also, I'm in the process of going to online school for psychology, a major that I've been dying to study.

inspired by this iconic post by @inahallucination, i would like to present: the dead poets at build a bear workshop

the boys decided to take advantage of a day off from welton and go to the mall

todd and neil convince the boys to go to the bookstore

they end up scattered about

meeks and pitts end up in the science and technology section

cameron in the history section

neil and todd in the classics section comparing pretty editions of shakespeare plays

knox in the romance section (before he gets dragged out for being a weirdo)

charlie tells the other poets he’s not a nerd (affectionate) so he decides to roam around the mall and wait for the other poets

when todd and neil emerge from the bookstore, they notice charlie staring at the build a bear workshop across from them

“well if i didn’t know any better, i’d say mr. dalton has a childish side to him” neil says, nudging his friend jokingly to get his attention

“what can i say? i have a refined taste” he smirks and swings an arm around todd as he inspects the contents of his shopping bag with a nod of approval

once the rest of the poets are done at the bookstore, charlie informs them of the plan

by which i mean he shouts “gentlemen, let’s build some bears!”

(this totally scares the employee at the front of build a bear but the boys are so excited they hardly notice- except for todd who shyly says hello and apologizes as they walk in)

knox thinks about making a bear for chris and they all shout “NO!”

don’t worry, they buy him a pug plushie and dress it in pyjamas

cameron jokes that they’re not kids anymore but he ends up making a black bear plushie and dresses it in a tuxedo

meeks and pitts get a bunny and they dress it in a lab coat

charlie builds a brown bear and buys it several outfits because “god damn it, this is a serious responsibility”

(he names the bear nuwanda and takes it to every meeting)

todd is reluctant to build a bear at first until he sees a bear that reminds him of the colour of neil’s eyes

he dresses it in a flannel and pair of black pants

neil finds a blond-ish coloured bear and dresses it in a dark blue sweater and khakis

it’s not until weeks later that todd makes the connection and he’s not able to look at the bear on neil’s bed without blushing afterwards)

they attempt to record messages for their bears: the thoreau passage read aloud at each meeting, their version of welton’s four pillars

neil sheepishly asks todd if he can record a message for todd and todd agrees but “only if you let me record one for you too”

neil recites lines from midsummer nights dream: “so i, admiring of his qualities// things base and vile, holding no quantity. //love can transpose to form and dignity. //love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind, // and therefore is winged cupid painted blind.”

todd, being ever the oblivious fool, thinks “aw how sweet!! neil must really enjoy running lines with me!!” when he hears the message for the first time

todd’s message to neil would be something along the lines of “hi neil!! just wanted to say you’re a great friend and i really l-like spending time with you. i hope you always chase after your dreams and we stay friends for a really long time. o-okay, bye.”

neil sobs the first time he hears the message

they all get in to ridiculous antics when it’s time to stuff the bears and make wishes

reciting poems, stomping their feet, squaredancing in the middle of the store, you name it

they all print out birth certificates for their bears and hang them up in the cave (and hold birthday parties for their stuffed animals every year afterwards)

once they’re done they all head out, carrying their new stuffed companions in boxes

they all agreed this was a fun day!!

also they probably take the plushies to keating’s class and he’s super confused but happy to have some new scholars in his class

there’s no actual order here but these were some of my faves this year:

@spaceslayer‘s Sam Cap Set. I loveeee sets that blur the lines between gifset and edit in general and the second gif in this is a great example of why. Having a mix of funny, iconic, and serious Sam moments on that film strip/in a single gif communicates so much.

@lamberts‘ The Witcher We’re All Stories in the End set. The interpretation of the concept is so nicely done and the blending on each gif is just impeccable.

@madeline-kahn‘s Julie and the Phantoms Scrapbook set. This idea is SO cute and so appropriate for the show 💗.

@queencalanthes‘s Midnight Mass set. The combination of overlays and the transition from black and white to color over the course of the set is truly lovely and really drew me into the emotional arc it is tracing.

@shegos‘ Monica Rambeau set. The choice of shots is great and the tvs are such a well-chosen frame for the smaller gifs!

Steve Rogers - The Price of Freedom. The favorite character meme has been a super fun way of continuing my Steve Rogers fixation and this set turned out especially well imo 💗.

Nat/Yelena - Asking for a Friend. This set was something of an anomaly in that it came together incredibly fast. I put the set on my gif ideas list one night, spent the next night making it, and posted it the following day. All without any incredible amount of suffering aside from a certain level of agonizing over the blending on the third gif 😅.

Ajak’s Guide to the Eternals. Not my most technically complicated set, but an idea I really loved made reasonably well (I think) given the footage constraints I was working with.

“Peggy is Home for Steve”. I’m proud of this one for two reasons. One, the blending on the first and third gifs.... truly some of my most seamless work 😎. Two, in another year, in multiple other years, this would have been a creation that never was. I’ve had this quote on my gifset ideas list since Chris/the Endgame Awards Campaign unleashed it and, until this year, had never been able to quite figure out how to best use it.

Natasha saving her family. As a stan/frequent purveyor of pain and garbage, I get yelled at lot in general and this set definitely stands out as one of the top people yelling at me sets of 2021 😅.

The Loki Lecture. A time when me reading excessive amounts of MCU related interviews payed off!

2 creations that stretched you as a creator

The Nat/Sam/Steve AU Set. This is only the second AU set I’ve ever made and, unlike my last one, it involved a much wider number of footage sources. I’m always super picky and intense about trying to make shots/coloring match as much as possible when combining footage for these kinds of sets (which is why I’ve only ever made two au sets) and getting this set to a place where I was satisfied with each gif was a journey. (And that is not even touching on the fact that I very much did not intend to write dialogue for this and then ended up having to write dialogue for this 🤪....)

The Steve’s Arc Was Good Actually Set. This isn’t the first set of mine to start its life as an aborted text post, but this is the first to really stick so close to its “I am tired of being told I don’t know what I’m talking about or that things that actually happened on screen didn’t actually happen” origins. As such, I spent a week or so figuring out how to best present and organize each element of Steve’s journey towards getting a life. And while it certainly didn’t stop people from taking a “that sign can’t stop me because I can’t read” approach to both this post and others I’ve made, the process of making it was quite rewarding and the feedback I’ve gotten on it from my fellow Steve Ending/StevePeggy stans has been quite good 💗.

What If...? Episode Color set. I’m way less comfortable working with animated material than I am with live action and while What If...? had some shots I loved, I had to really hunt to find the right shot to use for some of the episodes. But the final result, especially the last two gifs, all felt like it came together and did what I wanted.

1 creation that broke and (maybe remade you) as a creator

The Marvel Heroes set. It’s not every day that late night Kevin Feige interview watching leads me to a Perfect Gifset Idea, but, after a truly horrendous aborted attempt (the approach I was considering was one I liked/have repurposed since, but it would have had me in photoshop until at least 2079 had I stuck with it here), I roughly figured things out. and then spent the final pre-Shang-Chi week and the first post-Shang-Chi week with this open in Photoshop. I nearly quit multiple times, either because of sheer exhaustion with the project or because I had truly underestimated the challenges of finding shots that had the correct energy for each line and still looked good when made to fit into a tiny little triangle, but I was (and still am) incredibly happy with the final result.

0 the creation that never was:

There’s an infinite number of things that didn’t get made this year. Some because the charm of the idea faded before I had the time to make it or before I could figure out exactly how to execute it. Some because I didn’t have eternals in 4k the footage needed. But, right now, the creation that stands out most is the Nat/Sam/Steve set I have had roughly planned out since early 2021 and have yet to accomplishing anything on aside from opening Photoshop, doing some screencapping, and then deleting everything because it is just all Not Right.

Overall comment on your creativity year 2021 ->

In a year where the MCU ended its content drought but where I also spent a good chunk longing for specific, not yet out, content, my creativity happened in fits and spurts. Some of this was a testament to how much (or how little) time I had for going insane in Photoshop at different points in the year, but some of it was also a product of the fact that some pieces of content were incredibly fruitful for my level of creativity while other times what I wanted to make and what I could make were just not in sync at all. But, when I wasn’t suffering from Lack of Specific Content That Was Mostly Just Eternals or just had No Time, I felt like I really pushed myself in terms of learning/figuring out how to do new things in Photoshop and in further polishing my existing skills 💗.

(and i’m not tagging anyone because it is 2022 and 🙈!!!!)
