Truly great moment was Ryo fresh out the hospital jumping out of his car and sucker punching this poor guy to steal his motorcycle. Imagine having to file that police report about how you got knocked the fuck out and your shit stolen by some shirtless blond severely injured 17 year old freak. I would just let it go. Thankfully that guy didn’t have to live with the shame for much longer though considering how the story goes

Soukoku is not about dazai. It’s about chuuya, how it affects chuuya, how dazai is chuuya’s abuser (wrong) but still ship it anyways because you all want to be quirky. How sad stormbringer is (wrong) so how sad chuuya’s life is, it’s not about dazai or his traumas. Dazai is a blank slate for self projecting and constantly mischaracterized and demeaned. Soukoku is only for chuuya and only shipped by his fans. There’s no dazai stan except me. Skk isn’t a place for people (me) who like dazai. It never was and never will be.

that’s where you’re wrong. dazai is my favorite character and his dynamic with chuuya has quite literally made him want to live. as someone who is alienated from emotion and consequentially feels inhuman, chuuya—being so bright and fearless and passionate—made someone as suicidal as dazai feel alive. chuuya continued, along with oda, to be the only person in the mafia who saw through dazai’s violent and cruel exterior and capable of humanity. someone who was unwavering in his resolve and knew dazai to be more than just the heartless killer of a mafioso, more than an analytical brain, but a kid. he was just a kid to chuuya.

and that’s why soukoku works so well. dazai and chuuya continue to advocate for each others humanity and are unflinching and undoubtful about it. never once have they faltered or lost sight of the other’s personhood. and that’s the beauty of their dynamic.

Okay so I can really relate to Sam in a LOT of ways. I was 10000% the weird Emo kid growing up (still Emo now as an adult lmao I mean I have a rainbow mullet 😂) but I was also raised with a lot of expectations thrown on me to be the perfect daughter. My mom was a pastor and so was my grandpa and it was expected that I would be one too. I was meant to be this sweet little Christian girl who would settle down and get married to a man and have 2.5 kids and go to church every Sunday. So basically similar to what Pam wanted from Sam lol.

Instead I’m an emo bisexual non binary person who works in criminal justice reform, rocking a rainbow mullet, with a shit ton of tattoos and piercings.

I related a LOT to Sam growing up and had thankfully found my own Danny and Tucker (and Val) in high school, one was a video game loving dork one was obsessed with DND and the other was into the same scene that I was. We were considered our own little geek squad in high school and I loved them a lot. We don’t talk as much anymore due to our lives being super different from one another but they were 100% the reason I survived high school. We were our own little weirdo group that no one really understood. (Also my graduating class was like 70 people so everyone knew everyone and you know how mean teenagers are lmao)

So definitely Sam, Tuck, and Danny is the friend group I relate to the most. And yes I absolutely was the Sam of our group. I’ll have to find some old cringy pictures of me in my high school Emo phase and show you one day Ash. They’re hilarious 😂
