JJK 251 delivered one of the most intense fights till now, and honestly, I can't wait to see it animated! (if I'm still alive 10 years from now, that is lol).

That said, I need to write a little about this chapter because it has been eating me out since Thursday, and the HQ scan release is MAGNIFICENT. So let’s go!

Yuta used Cleave on Sukuna!

But, alas, he wasn’t the one to eat Sukuna’s finger. It was prolly Rika.

I don’t think anyone would think it makes sense that Yuta - second only to Gojo, the strongest modern sorcerer - could be the one to eat the King of Curse’s finger. While he IS powerful, it is still so risky to think he could ingest a piece of Sukuna’s soul and keep it inside himself for God knows how long.

Also, if a human had eaten one of his fingers, it seems a bit unlikely Sukuna wouldn’t have noticed somehow, as the cursed object holds a part of his very soul.

On the other hand, Rika hasn’t fully manifested. It seems an odd thing since this battle is even more dangerous and important than all previous battles Yuta had since his 2vs1 with Geto. Which may be just a wild speculation, but that has me thinking that maybe - just maybe - he hasn’t allowed her to fully manifest because she ate the finger. Like with the finger bearers at the beginning of the manga, Sukuna would know it is there, and he could target Rika more fiercely. Perhaps get to even retrieve it.

But this is speculation only - and I hope we will be sure of it in the next chapters.

It’s good to remember tho that it was Rika who ate Uro’s arm, not Yuta. And I doubt Yuta himself could have also eaten Hana’s and Inumaki’s arms…

Yuta was right in thinking that Sukuna would be surprised at being hit by his own technique.

However, something pretty nice happening here is that Sukuna looks pleased at tasting his own technique.

You know, we are well aware by now that Sukuna is a hedonist to the fullest. So I’m actually pleased that, rather than being really pissed off for getting a taste of his own medicine, he really experienced this little moment in a way that couldn’t show better how a being can be more self centered lol

I mean, his smile as he says ‘I see. Quite the meal.’ or "Oh, I get it. You ate it." feels like he is amused at tasting some of the power his own technique holds. I can hear Suwabe-san making it sound like he is having a foodgasm. And Yuta’s face turning worried is a sign that he oughta move to his next attack against the King of Hedonism ASAP.

Yuji and Yuta’s hand-to-hand-fight with Sukuna is beautiful, my god.

Sukuna is a good +4m tall muscle-built four-armed TITAN GIANT. Yuta and mostly Yuji are making him bend, making him bleed, making him blind by spitting blood on his cursed eyes, and FUCK - THIS FIGHT IS GOLD!!

Details I gotta highlight:

This is the second time Yuji survives Cleave at point blank, showing how much his endurance is up in such a crucial moment.

It was so smart of him to spit blood on Sukuna’s face. Reminds a little how his lil brother Kechizu spat his cursed blood on him back in s01 times.

Yuji’s determination to save defeat Sukuna and save Megumi with ‘heal up, heal up, HEAL UP’ makes me wanna chomp on wood T_T (C’mon baby, you can do it!)

Count on Sukuna to keep looking amused as he is being wrecked to the bones lmao. But also, this means he is thinking, analyzing, plotting, and soon preparing to counterattack.

The way Rika grabs him by the leg and throws him at Yuji’s soul shaking kick IS PERFECT.

The beating is so well delivered that, in fact, Sukuna is pushed to a deadly gamble.

I love when Sukuna gambles. He does it so many times throughout the story that I don’t think anyone can actually be surprised to see him doing this again in this chapter.

And I really mean it, cause not even our MCs are surprised. They had a solid plan of what to do once they had pushed Sukuna to the point they wanted: aka, releasing the HWC to try using Space Dismantle while tanking Jacob’s Ladder.

In less than a blink, Sukuna is 3/4 immobilized.

Rika, half manifested, gets his upper arms while Yuji goes for the lower right.

Yuta, though, goes straight to his guts, and bravely shoves his hand inside his belly mouth while Sukuna's only free arm goes straight to his head.

The cost for such a risky attack? A Cleave delivered directly on his bloody head.

But Yuta’s RCT doesn’t fail him. And he also still gets to rip out the Cursed Tongue - leaving Sukuna to have only one way to chant curses now. Confirming their suspicions that the King needs to use hand signs and chants or both to use “Space Dismantle”, which is an opening they can take an important advantage of to both use the domain's sure hit and reach Megumi.

This page made me scream!

The sight of Sukuna’s cheek exploding is bloody horrible.

Yuta tanking another slash attack shook me.

But Yuta coming up at the fucking King of Curses absolutely confident he can face him off FEARLESSLY is even more gobsmacking. I love my son!

ALSO: DID YUTA REALLY USE DISMANTLE ON SUKUNA’S ARM RIGHT HERE????

Also, the fact that Sukuna’s output is low to that point is both a sign that 1) his deadly efficiency is truly getting compromised by the biggest jjk team jump this manga had to this day, 2) Yuta and Yuji really leveled up to an impressive stage!

I don’t think we have ever seen Sukuna getting so overwhelmed and shocked.

Yuta’s next sword attack happens simultaneously with Yuji’s blood manipulation attack, and Sukuna loses his free hand while he realizes Yuji in fact just used his spitted blood to blow half his face off, rendering unable to speak.

A little thought I want to share though is that, while it has been long hinted that Yuji is able to use Blood Manipulation in any form after eating his brothers and training with both Choso and Noritoshi, I still have a little doubt whether the piercing blood attack in chapter 247 really comes from Yuji or not.

From the pov in 247, PB comes from somewhere really high and far from where Sukuna is. And in chapter 244, we see Mei Mei and Momo observing the battle from a tall building not too far away. I could see Choso being taken somewhere safe up to and despite being heavily wounded, still trying to help his lil brother. But also, I can picture Yuji rushing up some of the destroyed buildings to locate Sukuna and Higuruma, and desperately PB Sukuna to buy some time until he gets there.

I mean, if it had been really Yuji, I half expected Sukuna to have a lil flashback not only of the moment Yuji spat on him, but also from when he was attacked back in 247. That would solidify the fact he shockingly realized Yuji is using BM. So I will wait for a clear confirmation...

This talk is pretty interesting and important.

We discovered through Yuki’s search that:

Even when souls mix to some degree, they don’t become one single soul.

Choso can’t feel the OG soul of the human whose (his) body belongs to, and that’s why he asks if Yuji and Sukuna aren’t a special case. A fair question that made me think Choso could actually give back his body to the guy if he knew the poor man was trapped inside.

Yuji explains that CE plays an important role in the case of cursed objects and non-sorcerers then. Yet, no matter how deep a living soul may sink, it won’t merge or disappear in such cases.

Choso proposes another special case: since Yuji said, “in general level things are unmergeable”, what if Megumi and Sukuna are different tho? What if that could happen to them?

Yuji proceeds to say he added the “general” thing cause he had dealt with Mahito. Also, uniting souls transform them into other separate being. So as long as a soul CT like Mahito’s is NOT at play, then the merging of souls can’t happen.

And trusting fully in Yuki’s search, Yuji promises he will shake Megumi’s soul awake.

And after learning all of this, I wished for real that Yuki had not died so prematurely. The fact she was a former Star Plasma Vessel, that she could hear the voices of the souls Tengen had absorbed throughout the millennium, and that she had now Maki, Yuji/Sukuna, Choso and Mahito to deepen her research on souls and find a “scientific way” for how to break free from CE, BUT she never could do it… is a PAIN. We can’t undo what GG did, tho, so let's move on to the next topic.

Angel’s technique is special.

But it has a well defined role in the story: one that is NOT what some ppl think.

In an incarnated body, there is the mix of one’s technique + the personality + cursed object. So, since Angel’s CT can eradicate CTs, they can erase Sukuna. As they all want to save Megumi, tho, they will need to do the same thing Hana tried back in chapter 213: using the attack to FIRST weaken the connection between Sukuna and Megumi so Megumi’s chances of surviving the brain damage are better, and THEN move on to finish off the King of Curses.

And here I want to point out how absurd it is for anyone to expect a MINOR side character to end the history of the final MAIN antagonist of this series. Because, truly, unless you are being really disingenuous or purposefully kidding yourself just to hate and badmouth JJK, one cannot be serious over Hana EVER standing a chance against Sukuna. Even more with one of her arms torn off by the King himself.

And that’s why Yuta - the one second only to Gojo - is the one side-handling this freaking final battle.

Sukuna is damn right roughen and wrecked.

Yuji has one of his arms, Rika has two arms + a bite on his shoulder, his free arm is handless, his main mouth is half blown, and his belly mouth is tongueless and dripping blood.

There is a seriousness to his features that is different though. I mean he is the king of smiles, but he is deadly serious right here...

He KNOWS what is coming. He has chosen to gamble his endurance power against Yutangel’s Max Jacob’s ladder. So he is definitely mentally preparing to receive one of the hardest blows on his unstable (connected to Megumi) form.

And then Sukuna takes it.

His reaction is highly different from last time though, and it’s kinda obvious why. In chapter 213, he had just barely taken over Megumi’s body as well as he was at 15 fingers. Here he is in his incarnated true form, 19 fingers + his very mummified head in.

That said, the way he only growls/grunts/gasps tanking a DE’s sure hit from someone with a CE around the same as his own is impressive. Not only that, but also another crystal clear hint that he is the fucking King of JJK for a reason. You can’t break him easily. You can’t beat him conventionally. You can’t kill him until his last drop of CE is gone, until his brain is incapacitated, until his self-serving wish to keep existing - even if meaninglessly - is obliterated together with his cursed soul. As long as he holds the overwhelming power to exist, he will keep existing.

Knowing the enemy is NOT down yet, Rika chomps her mouth on Sukuna’s shoulder again as she holds his arms again while Yuta butchers his lower right arm in half, buying the time Yuji needs to fuel the special punch that he hopes will shake Megumi’s soul awake from the depths of this nearly unkillable monster. And if my eyes are not deceiving me, I think that - by the shape of Sukuna’s tattoo - Yuji hits him in the middle of his chest. Right over his heart.

Megumi’s breakdown deserves an analysis of its own.

But, yeah, IT HURTS.

As Yuji is shaken by Megumi’s state, though, the inevitable happens.

Sukuna, following his gamble of tanking and surviving JL to throw the WCD, does exactly that. The chants come on the page on a background a little similar to how his DE first appeared in animation. It’s eerie, cursed, and we know shit will happen on the next page…

Using what seems to be the arm Yuta had slashed in half (or is it the hand Rika was holding before), Sukuna strikes ALL his enemies with a seemingly WCD.

Way too close to him, Yuta takes the bruntest of it - the slash rips/slants his abdomen (letting we peek what is probably his liver), his back and his ring fingered hand (strongest way of connection with Rika) is severed from his wrist. Rika is slashed all over her face, the lower jaw which had bitten onto Sukuna’s shoulder is cut off and falling, her monstrous hands all cut and bloodied when they release Sukuna. Yuji is slashed on his forehead, across his face, and by the blood trajectory, from his collarbone down to abdomen.

There is NO WAY THO that Yuji is dying like that, though.

So before we find out how Yuji - and prolly Yuta too - will survive this attack, it is important to notice here that Sukuna does not say “Dismantle” when he unleashes this attack on them. And, YES, chants ARE important in JJK. (I know a lot of ppl will complain about this, especially since “Gojo died with this attack!”, but I’m just saying what is drawn in the manga.)

Sukuna is back to his menacingly smiling aura as Yuta’s domain starts crumbling on top of him.

But while he is RCTing his injuries and tasting what seems to finally be the end of this cursed battle day, he is struck by the sneakiest signature attack of the modern era.

Maki Zenin, the demon with zero cursed energy, pierces his heart - and soul - with her Split Soul katana.

If I said I haven't screamed at this whole sequence, I would be a liar. This was absolutely INCREDIBLE!

Now I hope GG won't switch the pov back to Hakari x Uraume, but I feel like he might as well do again T_T

Anyway, I just had to write all this to say how PERFECT Gege is weaving Gojo's pupils battle against the greatest King of Curses!!

Well, it's been a minute, hasn't it ? And by a minute I mean uhhhh A Long Time I've said many times I'm going to see this project to the end, and I meant it, even if life sometimes gets in the way. It will just take the time it will need As for today's part, we're finally seeing some Shi-woo again ! Hurray ! Finally a real adult in this house ! The logistics of existing legally in a world where another version of you is currently 6 years old... 's not easy, even when you have a pro helping you out Especially when your name is uh. Pretty unique ? Yeah, we'll go with unique. Anyway yeah Yuuta needed a new spelling for his first name, stat, and I decided to make up some lore surrounding that too (Seriously, I know the reason he's named depressed guy is because mangakas love their meaningful names, but like. In-universe ? His parents better have a Good Fucking Reasoning) The new last name I chose for him, 山本 (Yamamoto) literally translates to "the base of the mountain" and is a pretty common last name in Japan. I picked it as a double reference to Yuuta being from Aomori in my personal canon, and Rika's last name of Orimoto (祈本) - obviously calling himself Orimoto would be too on the nose, and I think the least ties he has to his old identity, the easier it will be to fake documents in the future Oh yeah, also my boy canonically looks like shit in photos lmao

(Slight Spoilers if you haven't played Mystic Messenger)

MM!MC: I'm not too spacious with accommodations but at least it's decent. I doubt the bed could fit all of us so half of us will need sleeping bags. Soo question about the curse geto au:

Since yuta hated geto in jjk 0 how did he and curse geto get chill with each other?

I think he would honestly be chill with Geto more because of Gojo, rather than actually liking Geto (at least in the beginning). And then overtime, Geto being kind towards Yuta would probably give him some bias. In chapter 2, he visibly saw how much of a toll Geto's existence was having on Gojo mentally and physically. And then right after, Yuta saw exactly what was the cause of Gojo looking like he hadn't been taking care of himself.

Gojo states himself that he is neither happy nor okay with Geto existing as a cursed spirit, which is something that Yuta would definitely relate to and understand.

He knows how hard it is to deal with a cursed spirit of someone you loved or held dear to you, so he would probably be more than willing to help Gojo - therefore forcing himself to at least tolerate Curse!Geto.

I did try to communicate within chapter 2 that Yuta is very uncomfortable around Geto, and it's not just him being afraid because of the dreadful feeling that Geto gave Shoko earlier on in the chapter. He only really chills once Gojo properly sits him down and explains the situation to him.

Geto's fondness towards Yuta as a cursed spirit was because of how he acts towards Yuta in JJK0 as a human. Although the way he acts towards Yuta in front of everyone is just an act to try and attain Rika, I think there is some part of him that found genuine interest in Yuta himself. The same cannot be said for Rika- he is actually kinda scared of her lmao.

Also Yuta's smile in the final page was meant to be aimed at Rika... But I'm not entirely sure if I showed that well or not.

I hope this helps!! In conclusion: I don't think Yuta would actually be chill with Geto because it's Geto, rather he would instead just tolerate Geto (and Yuta is emotional a wet puppy and doormat in the first year) because he understands what Gojo is probably going through and wants to help him. But then later actually may end up liking Geto (Yuta is Gojo and Curse Geto's son, I won't be convinced otherwise /j)

Side note: I also think that this AU would help really humanise Gojo to Yuta, instead of him just "being the strongest" like Gojo is for everyone. In chapter 3 (ooo spoilers, it's currently a WIP), Gojo literally admits to Yuta that he and Geto were in love. Yuta is not impressed whatsoever, but it would add to Gojo just becoming an actually normal adult human who has been through a lot of struggle and shit - rather than just being his silly and goofy teacher who is also the strongest man alive.

I don’t understand why anime men can be drawn looking handsome while also looking normal and wearing normal clothes, but sososo often, anime women are drawn looking like their tits are going to pop out of their bras and/or they wear provocative outfits.

Do men (or male artists anyway) not care if a woman is beautiful if she isn’t being revealing? Do her facial features, the way she carries herself, her hair, etc. not matter so long as she’s not trying to act like a seductress?

From my own experience with men I can only say one thing- they are liars. Or at least they like lying to themselves.

They will oftentimes say that they don't like women who reveal feminine features, but they do. Men like women and they like objectifying them. Bc if men are straight, logically, they're attracted to women. Bc woman's body is pretty and not just in a sexual sense. Sometimes it's just pretty for looking at; like art, nude modeling and act. Worshipped even. Woman's body is prettier than man's body in so many ways. But I think this beauty shouldn't be so heavily sexualized like it's often the case in the east. Japan has so much explicit content that they even have categorized shops at every corner, in public spaces. I don't know how Japanese women feel about this but statistics show that their birth rate is slowly declining. Besides poor economic situation, women don't feel respected or loved enough. And the feminism has risen in this part of the world as well.

Anyways, back to the point- I respect Gege for keeping his characters neat and the story heavily plot oriented without much fanservice (men are the fanservice lol). Gege also says that his parents are reading the manga so I suppose he doesn't rly want to feel like a disgrace lmao. I'm not sure if this was his marketing strategy to interest women into shōnen genre but it definitely worked, now jjk has become one of the most popular series of all time. And it's ok to have Mei Mei as one token representative of a "sexy woman" stereotype although I wouldn't rly call her sexy either. She's just a beautiful woman.

What definitely helps the whole situation is Gege's taste in fashion. No male mangaka that I know ever paid attention to this one very important factor. Fashion is a type of expression, and it can tell a lot about the character themselves without incorporating their personality in words. With that said, jjk women have so much personality to them, it's fascinating.

Mei Mei and Mai could be considered sexy, Utahime is a traditional authoritative beauty, Nobara is very stylish and confident, Maki is a strong tomboy girl, Miwa and Momo are girly and cute, Ozawa is a shy girl, Shoko is your typical CEO woman, Yuki is a biker girl. And some of them have short or tied up hair which is nice bc it can be just as feminine as long hair. He even introduced women's insecurities like Ozawa being overweight and that Yuuji didn't mind bc he found her writing and table manners pretty. Momo's outlook on woman's prejudice in jujutsu world is also something important to adress. Yuuta is shown kissing Rika bc what they're having is true love and true love doesn't know shallow boundaries. Gege understands woman's struggle.

In an interview, Gege revealed that he has similar mindset to Megumi and that he doesn't want to sexualize women as much. The way he treats woman body is purely artistic. At least watching these panels didn't make me feel uncomfortable at all.

Regarding Mei Mei's and Ui Ui's relationship, yea it's a taboo. But I think that author didn't want to promote incest, rather, he wanted to show that Mei Mei is a woman with flaws. And flaws are something that makes a person interesting, together with their virtues. She also likes money. To the point that Gojo made fun of her by flipping a coin to summon her bc apparently, Mei Mei lacks self-respect.

In contrast to her, Utahime respects herself too much. That's why she's often hysterical and Gojo tells her that hysterics won't win men (Gojo is a real mansplainer huh).

Gojo is rude and so is Sukuna. But Miwa and Yorozu don't even notice a man's flaw if they're interested in him (Gege knows a woman's mind too well, which is funny). That's why he's asking ladies to vote for Nanami instead of Gojo in popularity poll (women should set aside shallow interests and concentrate on person's kind soul).

Unlike them, Shoko is aloof and rational bc she's too aware of fleetingness of life, especially in her line of work as a doctor. Sure, she can be friendly and smile a lot, but she doesn't want to form any strong relationships with anyone. This is the only way she can keep her sanity in check. After all, jujutsu is just a marathon where the finish line is a pile of friends' corpses. Something the younger generations are a bit immature to understand.

Nobara is a very stubborn girl, she sometimes comes off as too bossy or rude (Yuuji calls her a bitch lol). But it turns out this was only her defense mechanism with people she's unfamiliar with bc she didn't want to be underestimated for being a country girl of limited thoughts and experience. Bc Nobara is indeed a great girl with many talents.

Maki is a strong, independent woman but this doesn't mean that she refuses help and support from people around her. She likes guys who are stronger than her (and Yuuta comes into picture, besides, he also suggested that he wants to crush Zenin clan together which explains her liking to him). Panda noticed that and wanted to play a wingman. Although his boobs question (Maki's insecurity) was a bit inappropriate (but it got the point across), Yuuta's answer was very polite which made him more likeable in her eyes.

Yuki and Todo are similar bc they're nosy, they enjoy exploring different people's interests and judge them whether they're considered "a person of culture" (which adds to the series' comedic aspect). I love Haibara's answer bc he says "I like women who eat a lot" bc he knows that women who eat are happy and that a hungry woman is an angry woman.

Gege understands women so much that fans are contemplating whether Gege is actually a woman himself or not. It's nice to have a mangaka who's this mindful.

I'm curious what your thoughts are on this. In Saeran's after-ending, Saeran doesn't fall asleep when V gasses the RFA because he's developed a tolerance to the herbs Rika used due to his overexposure to the elixir during his time in Mint Eye.

However, MC also awakens pretty quickly. Obviously, we're going on an assumption of realism here using the canon to theorycraft, but it's rather unlikely that holding their breath alone could have allowed them to wake up as quickly as they did.

Saeran mentions in the subsequent chatroom that the doctors were surprised that MC woke up as fast as they did. V is equally astonished because he was sure he checked the saturation levels, and Rika says the gas is supposed to have put the RFA to sleep for 2 days at a minimum. (Zen also wakes up within this time frame, but it can be explained due to his monstrous healing).

Aside from the obvious answer here (re: the Power of Love™), I started thinking about the possibility that maybe MC was exposed to very, very minimal doses of the elixir while at Mint Eye, unbeknownst to Ray or Saeran, and that, combined with holding their breath allowed them to wake up sooner than the rest.

In Saeran's diary, he alludes that the food they were giving him at the start before he was taken to the basement was laced with more and more of the elixir to get him used to it and make him easier to coerce (he doesn't even notice around day 4, but by day 11, it's starting to make him feel sick). We know Ray only cooks some meals for MC since he's so busy. Is it possible that the meals Ray didn't prepare had minimal amounts of elixir in them, doing to MC what they had done to Saeran before?

And... with that in mind... could Saeran withholding food prepared by the believers have been his horribly misguided attempt to stop that from even potentially happening, whether it was the case or not? He brags about telling the believers not to feed MC, but in the same chatroom, he mocks that he would feed them himself if he found something nasty. The key here is him deciding when to feed them and what to feed them, not the other believers.

Just... I'm not crazy to think this is a similar sentiment right? Even the wording is similar.

Saeran's incoming call on Day 9 (Who will you go with?) also hints MC might have been exposed to the elixir without his knowledge if they talk to him like a believer.

I'm just trying to make narrative sense of the MC-wakes-up-even-though-they-aren't-supposed-to deuce ex machina in the after ending lmao, and I feel like this makes the most reasonable sense with the established narrative canon + gives Saeran a probable cause for having withheld food prepared by anyone other than himself??

Anyways, I'm so sorry, this is so much longer than I intended hahaha. I'm very interested in your perspective or headcanons on this, as I'm trying to make sense of this in my head.

So, the boring answer I can give you right off the bat is that it's a deus ex machina. It isn't supposed to be more complicated than that. It is just for the sake of convenience you are able to survive this situation, unlike the RFA.

We do not have the tolerance that he has and we shouldn't have it at all because he refused to let us so much as drink it. That is the boring answer but it is the answer from Cheritz's standpoint. There are a lot of little things like that in the game you aren't supposed to think that hard about but for those of us that love to make things feel more realistic, it's hard to not think about it.

The key problem I have with your speculation is the fact that Ray says outright from the very beginning when he decides that he doesn't want to give you the elixir, that he doesn't want you to be in pain. If you trust him, that means that you don't need to take the elixir. It'll be a little secret between the two of you and you can't tell anybody. He is fighting for his life out here trying to protect you from it.

That's why he goes so far as to make you a fake elixir in the first place. He is doing everything he can to make sure that you never have to taste it. Ray knows that it is going to destroy you in more ways than one and anything he can do to avoid that is something he will do in the confines of his route. He wants to avoid it. He fights to make sure it doesn't happen.

He is having full-on night terrors about you being in pain.

He took it upon himself to make sure that you were eating food he made. Even if that took time out of his busy schedule, he knew he had to do it otherwise it would not end well for you. He might be a paranoid character but so is his brother, and they have a reason to be paranoid because of the way people use power and control around them. I don't think he would have allowed anybody to make your food for you.

Even if there is a subtle implication that there were instances when he wasn't able to make food for you, I feel like he would have made a point to try to inspect it if possible. It would have been more work on his part, but you are worth that extra work. Even if he couldn't see you for a lot longer, he's not going to let anybody put that in you if he can help it.

This theory could be further substantiated by Suit Saeran's choices. Of course, the key factor why he denied you the food was because he was projecting his trauma onto you, but I have never seen somebody point out his actions and make this connection before so I must give you credit for that.

A huge part of Suit Saeran's actions near the end of the route does become something where he's trying to protect you from everything that he and Ray have suffered before and after you met them, so it wouldn't be a stretch to my imagination in the slightest if that had something to do with this.

But do I think that you have been subjected to any amount of elixir? I don't think so. I really don't think so. Even if you did, the amount of it you would've had to have taken would need to take way longer to do a job like that than a week or two. You would need to have been in the cult for months dealing with trace amounts of elixir to even get close to what tolerance Saeran Choi has.

I don't think it could have slipped through the cracks past Saeran or Ray more than once if it did happen. Plus the taste is so palpable no matter how small the amount, you would notice it if somebody put it in the food. Baby Saeran noticed the taste almost immediately and it made him recoil from the food for days until hunger set in. That's the part that's mentioned in his diary.

The only thing you do that the others don't do is hold your breath for a few seconds.

That probably helped a little bit but it shouldn't have helped to the point that you wake up a few hours later. There is a chance maybe the MC has natural tolerance to some of the chemicals in the elixir but even that seems like a stretch to me. I really don't have a logical answer.

I'm dreamtuna. You can call me Dream, Tuna or any (reasonable) variation you find fun. I used to be xyumemi on here but changed my username to match my vibe more. Ultimately, I'm still just a lil tuna fish with big dreams.

I'm 31 and use she/they pronouns. I'm from Scotland and no, I don't have a cool accent sadly. (Although I was told the other day I'm noticeably Scottish so maybe I do?)

I recently returned to tumblr after like, a decade away. It's very different, but I feel comfy, welcome and motivated for the first time, so I'm planning on sticking around.

"So that's how you found him?" Suvi giggled, thinking Jia and Minghao's story was the cutest love story she could've ever heard. "I can't believe it was right when Lilly died -- talk about fate!"

"It was pretty perfect timing," Danbi nodded. "Obviously everyone was really distraught, but Minghao had his mate there for him. I guess he would always tell the pack that she saved his life."

"Yup," Jia laughed softly. "Doesn't let me forget it."

"Hang on," Jooyeon interrupted, staring at Jia intensely. She had even leaned forward as she listened to the blind girl's story because she was so invested, "so what happened with XiuXiu?"

The girls were staying at Hanbin's place with the other mates while all the wolves were hanging out together at some secret werewolf-only speakeasy that Hanbin and his pack went out to from time to time. It wasn't often just the girls got to hang out together, and it was even more rare that they got to spend any time with the girls from Kyung's old pack. But all the boys wanted to get together before Minghao and Junhui's annual trip back to China. And this year, they were taking Jia with them.

The conversation originally began with Ari curiously asking what had happened to the rest of Hanbin's pack. Eunjin had screamed her head off as soon as she was on the property, which of course, startled everyone, so Hanbin had mentioned offhandedly that a lot of their pack had passed away before he went out with the other wolves. Ari being Ari, was curious and didn't know any better to have a filter, but the girls explained most of what happened.

That is, until they got sidetracked. Kyung talked about how Taejin was lured to his death by his mate, and Yeji had jokingly said, "Jia, imagine if Minghao had lured you to your death, huh?"

So that sparked the question of how did Minghao and Jia even meet since it happened in a dream.

"Or June!" Jimin added on.

Jia merely shrugged, "I don't know. I never saw either of them again."

"What?!" the thief whined. "No way! You have to know what happened to at least June!"

"What a shitty ending..." Kyung muttered.

"Do you think I'd see any clues as to where June went?" Jia laughed. "I'm blind."

"I can't believe we're just left on a cliffhanger like that," Seongmi sighed.

"How do you think I feel? It really makes me sad... I hope she's doing well, wherever she is."

"Why would she be the first dream you ever entered, though?" Soomin wondered. "It's so random..."

Rika shrugged, "Sometimes life doesn't give us answers."

"If you're Rinnie," Jimin was watching Kyung whisper translations in Cooper's ear, "it rarely ever does."

The boat ride wasn't Jia's favorite. She hadn't been on a boat since she had to flee when she was a child, so she didn't really remember the experience. She realized just how awful being stranded in the middle of the ocean on an unfamiliar vessel with a bunch of strangers was when you couldn't see anything.

Even if she could see, she was sure she would hate it.

"My parents are old," Minghao warned her. "They won't want to go out and explore with us. They're tired pretty often."

"That's okay," she assured him with a smile. "I'm excited to meet them no matter what."

"You think having old parents is bad?" Jun scoffed. "My baby brother looks older than me."

Appearance-wise, Jun and Minghao looked like they were in their 20's. And their bodies technically were. That was around the age that they stopped getting older until they met their mates. Minghao started aging again as soon as he met his mate -- physically, of course. Junhui was still stuck.

But despite their young appearances, they were both over 40 years older than they appeared. So both of their parents were much older than one might expect, and any younger relatives they had appeared to be older than them now.

On the way to Minghao's old house, he explained how he ran away from home as soon as he realized what he was. But he said his parents went out looking for him and wouldn't stop until they found him. He admitted what he was and ran away before either of them could accept him or turn him away. He just wanted to protect them Then he ended up finding Soonyoung, so he went off with him and never looked back.

"I was really close with my cousin, Yaling," he told you. "We were basically like siblings, so I told her to take care of my parents before I left. She tried to convince me to stay, but I knew how dangerous it was."

Jun was the one to convince him to return home half a decade later. Since he went to visit his mom, Minghao would often wonder aloud how his own family was doing, so finally, the older wolf coaxed Minghao into going with him. And that was when he realized his family had been searching for him the whole time.

"They put up missing persons pictures using a couple photos of me from family photo albums," Minghao chuckled at the memory. "It was crazy because it was five years later and I still looked like that."

Looking back, Minghao felt lucky that he reunited with his family so he could watch them grow and get old. It was bittersweet getting to see his parents gray while he stayed the same. He was grateful to still be loved by them so he could experience them getting older, but it hurt that he couldn't age with them.

But then there were happy moments, like watching his relatives that he grew up with -- like Yaling -- get married and have families.

"The Xu family reunion is huge," Junhui stated with a laugh. "Everyone shows up to see Hao."

Just as Jun promised, Minghao's parents' house was full to capacity when the trio arrived. While Jia couldn't see all the people, she could hear the commotion. It was overwhelming, but she put on her warmest smile and let the two wolves help her around as they introduced her to his family.

It was as Minghao was introducing her to his parents and Yaling that his mother was interrupted.

"Jia?" a female voice asked.

Jia's eyes wandered, her head turning toward the noise. She waited to hear something else, but all she heard was soft footsteps getting closer until they stopped in front of her.

"Your eyes look the same," the girl giggled excitedly.

Her head cocked to one side, "I-I'm sorry?"

"Xiuying, what are you talking about?" he asked her.

"I know her," she insisted before looking at Jia again. "Don't you remember?"

Minghao paused while he thought, and then his eyes seemed to brighten, "You two are about the same age. But if she knew you before she moved away... XiuXiu, she's blind now."

Jia's eyes suddenly widened and her entire body seemed to perk up.

"XiuXiu?"

"Jia!" she laughed again before throwing her arms around Jia.

Jia let go of Minghao's arm to hug her back, a smile so big spreading across her face that it made her eyes close.

Minghao looked to Junhui first, both boys sharing confused looks before he turned to Yaling for answers. Somehow, his cousin looked like she knew exactly what was going on and she was shocked.

"Did you know?" Minghao asked her.

"I-- ...I thought Jia was imaginary..." was all she said.

"XiuXiu's dreams were the first I ever entered," Jia explained once the two girls pulled away. "Aside from my dad's, of course. I only ever saw her dreams up until I had to leave home."

"I was wondering where you went!" Xiuying was still laughing -- out of both excitement, joy, and shock.

"XiuXiu cried for days," Yaling nodded. Then she imitated her wailing of, "'Where's Jia! I miss Jia!'"

The rest of the reunion was sweet and happy. Everyone was excited to see Minghao and meet his mate, and the two girls were practically inseparable. But somehow, it seemed to make his parents even more fond of Jia -- although, it was hard to not be fond of her in the first place.

That night, after everyone had gone home and Minghao's family retreated into the own rooms and made sure Jun was settled in the guest room, Minghao and Jia curled up together in Minghao's old room that his family kept for him. And as they were winding down, of course Minghao had to bring up his mate's history with his 'niece'.

"How come you never mentioned XiuXiu?" he asked.

Jia shrugged as she pulled the covers up, "It seemed a little pointless. I obviously wouldn't expect you to know who she was, so why would I mention the random little girl I used to visit?

"Actually, what about you?" she asked with a frown, turning it around on her mate. "How come you never mentioned XiuXiu talking about a Jia?"

He chuckled, "Because Jia isn't an uncommon name, and I never heard about a Jia after Xiuying got older. I figured it really was just an imaginary friend like everyone else. Plus, I only saw her once a year so her Jia never really stuck with me."

"Sure, HaoHao," she chuckled, sliding down the bed until her head touched the pillows.

"You know what that means, right?" Minghao asked as he followed suit.

"Hmm?"

"You've been connected to me for a long time," he giggled. "You've always been made for me."

Jia scoffed as she rolled over to snuggle into Minghao's chest, "I always knew that."

There was a pounding on the wall before the pair heard Junhui call just loud enough for them both to hear, "Could you wait until I fall asleep to be disgustingly cheesy?"

so as of a few days ago I've been experimenting with names to be referred to irl with some of my close friends because I don't really want to confirm this yet to other friends/family (also i'm id-ing as genderqueer to also go along w my id of just being queer lmao)

but i also am unsure if i want to do that for my online alias as well? like i did play around with the idea of being called Riku (does it have something to do with Riku from Kingdom Hearts? Oh 100%) as well as being called Rika

I mean i don't know we'll see. I'm... Still contemplating.

Character Inspiration

༺ Scarlett Wakahisa

Thanks for the tag @poohwhin ! I did this template for Scarlett with characters, people and other things that have shaped her as a character and inspired me through her development. Maybe I'll do Rhiannon's in the future. This was very fun!

༺ Elaboration below ༻

ꜰᴜʀᴜᴅᴇ ʀɪᴋᴀ ꜰʀᴏᴍ ʜɪɢᴜʀᴀꜱʜɪ

If you can stomach Higurashi series, I'd super recommend to watch it thoroughly. It looks 'confusing' during all 1st season, but everything gets answered in the second, and so on. That's one minor thing that I love about it as well: the question-answer arcs. Whatever happens that you don't understand now, you most likely will later.

Focusing on Rika's character, what I like about her and completely inspires me is her mental strength. Dying over and over an repeating the same loop every time would easily tire anyone's mind out. While she isn't an exception, she shows a big amount of resilience despite her clear trauma, and keeps her hopes to find a way out high.

I take things from both Rika and Higurashi, especially the loops. Not a literal time loop in Scarlett's case, but a loop of bad experiences, misfortune, and dangerous people; a loop that, like every other one, won't stop until someone breaks the patterns.

Additionally, Rika and Scarlett share voice actress: Rika's 'mature' voice, or the one from Lady Bernkastel.

ꜰᴀʟʟᴇɴ ʙᴏᴏᴋ ꜱᴇʀɪᴇꜱ

When I talk about loops, I can't not think about Fallen. We have an immortal being seeing his beloved die over and over due to a curse; past lives and reincarnation have a huge role in this story, until, again, something breaks this loop and they try to make it work and prevent things from falling apart again.

From Fallen, I take that despair from the immortal seeing his love die and having to wait until they meet again- only for that to be just as transitory, and it repeats again. A lot of hope and resilience takes place here, which I adore.

And a few tidbits, design-wise: the male lead has purple eyes, and by the time I read it I was blown away by that. When I created Scarlett, I definitely wanted her to have purple eyes because of this. Lastly, the dresses in the covers, especially in the second book that I picked the pic from, influenced Scarlett's 'casual' style a lot.

ʜᴡᴀꜱᴀ ꜰʀᴏᴍ ᴍᴀᴍᴀᴍᴏᴏ

Ooo a real person- A QUEEN no less. If there's something I love from Hwasa, idol career aside, is her confidence. She has been frowned-upon on occasion for how she dresses on stage, for how much skin she shows, for her weight, for doing this and that with her body, for being 'inappropriate' with her fashion, yet she never changed her ways, because she feels good being like that despite not fitting in. There's this particular phrase of hers that goes 'If I don't fit in their standards, I'll create my own', and I'm all over the floor for this woman.

Design-wise, there's a lot of inspiration for the physical appearance of Scarlett (body type, wild hair, fashion style) that was unintentional, as I didn't have Hwasa in mind, but I admire her a lot so it happened lol? Plus I'm a simp. In addition to that there's carefree attitude of 'If I consider I look good, then I look good' that boosts her confidence quite a lot when it comes to the way she presents herself.

ᴄʟᴀꜱꜱɪᴄᴀʟ ᴍᴜꜱɪᴄ

This is one of the most personal ones, if not the most. As a music student, I basically wanted to use Scarlett as a way to infodump about music lol. Whenever she's playing piano and/or talking about this oddly specific fact about this random composer, that's probably me nerding through her LMAO.

Since she's been around for quite a long time, I like to think that she probably even met some of those guys too because why the hell not.

Then I used this to give her a hand trauma but we don't talk about that.

ᴍᴇʏ-ʀɪɴ ꜰʀᴏᴍ ʙʟᴀᴄᴋ ʙᴜᴛʟᴇʀ

The clumsy maid vs. the badass sniper. I take the duality from this lady, although I applied it to Scarlett in a slightly different way.

Especially applicable to Scarlett in her servant days, once she is given the duty of 'taking care of intruders', she takes that to heart. Most of the time she's meant to be quiet, collected, submissive and obedient around the mansion, which completely changes when she has to complete her task, when someone disrupts the peace of the place (and can get her in trouble for it). In a way, Servant!Scarlett is a mix of Mey-Rin and Hannah, two BB maids. Scarlett's tamer side wasn't exactly a choice, which is why she completely drops that once she is free, or when she simply doesn't have to be that way if she doesn't want to.

Also she doesn't use guns, but she isn't unequipped either.

ᴅɪᴀʙᴏʟɪᴋ ʟᴏᴠᴇʀꜱ: ʟᴏꜱᴛ ᴇᴅᴇɴ

Last but certainly not least, Lost Eden's lore, as wonky as it is, was the main inspiration for making Scarlett a Ghoul. At the time it came out, I wasn't active on the fandom, just watching from the sidelines, lol. Weirdly enough, when LE came out, I was more intrigued by the new race than by the new character (look at me now OTL), so I made Scarlett a Ghoul after gathering the info about this race (which wasn't much) from forums, blogs, reviews, etc. I was starting college so playing the games wasn't a possibility. This was back in 2018, and I finally took a look into the games in 2021? I think? Then I got into Kino. My God. What was I thinking.

Anyway. The fact that Scarlett and Kino are the main ship here isn't exactly because Kino is my fav (only), but because they are unintentionally very similar. Similar values, similar personalities, different upbringing but similar grudges to, actually, each other's race. You know the amount of drama that can bring? Yeah. If knowing someone who is just like you and that's the reason why you can't control them because they want to do the same isn't frustrating enough, think about seeing your own faults in them faced differently or worse, taken lightly, by the other person. MMM. Beef. Drama. Character development. Accepting one's faults in order to love the other or perish trying. MMMM.

ɪɴ ᴄᴏɴᴄʟᴜꜱɪᴏɴ?

I love playing with the characters' psychology and cause/effect of things, there are many sources for this 'inspiration' but I mentioned the most relevant ones for me. How trauma develops, changes, how things click, what triggers what and how to heal or get worse- It's all fascinating for me.

Another thing that no character inspired me for is that I love crazy, dominant, outspoken and/or sadistic women, so that's what's coming out of my system most of the time no matter what, lmao.

And yeah. Scarlett is my comfort character, as messed up as she is. If she can go through some deep shit and come out alive, so can I 😤 No one has mental stability in this economy (?).

It's been a looong time (almost 3 years now!) but I'm curious what were your final thoughts on Ray's AE + Jumin's DLC?

I think Ray's AE really emphasized Another Story Saeran is nothing like CS/DS Saeran. As for Jumin's DLC... it was so forgetable.

Has it only been 3 years? I think it's been more than that nonny, tbr.

I never actually played Jumin's DLC! My friend did, the person who played Saeyoung in the blogs, and at the time when they were going through it they fed me information, and I remember none of that information really compelling me to play it (nor the art really) because it sounded similar to how they did the Rika DLC: pile on as much terrible drama and abuse as possible for the sake of it. Jumin's past was bad enough when I thought his mother had basically abandoned him and he wasn't yet willing to accept that fact and his most present step-mother flirted with him. His real mother being a crazy woman that puts him in a cage? Like, come the fuck on.

I did play Saeran's AE though, and yeah, he's a completely different character than OG Saeran. I found it kind of sweet, the DLC, but honestly Saeran was kind of unrecognizable to me throughout it, even if I thrived off of Jumin and Saeran talking directly for a single scene lmao. iirc Saeran and Saeyoung's relationship doesn't really get repaired either, and that's tragic, because I'd much rather the brothers be happy again than MC get to be with Saeran on a private resort island that Jumin just...gives them.

I don't know, I don't like the extra content so much. Another Story was fascinating so even if it has flaws, I enjoy it and what it brought to the table, especially in reflecting on the original route and the implications. But everything after that is...eh. When I reminisce about Mysme, I don't reminisce about either of those, that's for sure.

I've been hoping for Shinae to have some much needed girl talk to help her reflect. It's a matter of sharing different perspectives. Using only her own experiences will not be enough to navigate her through relationships or life. This a great opportunity for her to vent her frustrations with something so personal and open up to the girls. I don't think she ever has before.

There's a panel in episode 203 where Rika advices Maya "you can't tell him you like him just because he gives you attention." She can impart her wisdom onto Shinae so she can put an end to her wishy washy feelings and figure out who she likes.

And then there's Maya! She was the one pushing for Shinae to date Dieter and helped set up her friendship with Nol. And she happens to be the most privy to her friendship with Minhyuk. She can compare the differences in her behavior towards the boys and help distinguish her feelings. If there's no doubt Shinae cares for Nol as much as she does for her best friend, then get her to think about why this friend in particular is able to fluster her, overwhelm her, rile her up, and hurt her this deeply in ways Minhyuk never has.

And the words will echo, "Because you love him." Or maybe the answer will haunt her in her kissy kissy dreams.

While I'm dying to see Maya, the shipper come out, I also want Shinae to mention Alyssa, the girlfriend. Would she become another bodyguard like Minhyuk, weary of the friend who acts hot and cold? (Her own guilt also being tied to their incident) Or would she realize Nol had the positive affect of opening her up where Alyssa's negative impact closed her off? Something even Minhyuk never quite managed to do.

Besides Dieter can snap at dumbass Nol instead. Boy deserves it. He's a hypocrite sending mixed signals to Shinae by drawing her in only to push her away again. Not to mention he's been keeping everyone at arm's length. But I also feel like Dieter has in some ways kept his distance from people because of his military brat lifestyle. He's used to people coming and going so he never bothered to get to know the real Nol and was even ready to let him go without a fight. He's always been passive and I think standing up for himself and voicing his feelings about this situation will help him become more proactive in his relationships because the two people involved, whom he loves and admires, inspired him to be.

I want their friendship to grow stronger from this. For all three of them.

Speaking of Alyssa. It is going to be devastating watching her go down the wrong path. She's impressionable vulnerable and being influenced by the worst people imaginable who want her isolated from anyone who can help her. The more her popularity rises, the higher the stakes will be for her. She'll have several rumors following her around but they can be swept under the rug with power, money, and good PR, for a certain price she might be pressured to pay of course. I can even see her continuing to turn against Nol and Shinae out of self-preservation, if their bad history threaten to make everything she's been through go in vain. What was it all for if all for naught?

That's why I think the real final blow is going to come from Yujing exposing the fxk out these monsters in charge. Despite her being a victim of something bigger than her, the public will want to tear her apart and paint her as ugly an image as her groomers. This is all worst case scenario and maybe things won't go so bleak for her.

I just want her to break free, redeemed or not, whether of her own will or others fighting for justice for people like her.

Oh Nonny you do not know HOW BADLY I have been wanting this Maya and Shinae Girl Talk! Or maybe you do lmao but look I CANNOT WAIT I CANNOT WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!!!!!!!

There's something about how Shinae and Maya are starting over as friends - real friends, friends on the same level, because don't get me wrong, Maya has always cared about Shinae - why else did she tackle Kousuke at the hospital if she didn't? - it's just it was so clouded by all of her jealousy, too. They never found a way to connect because Shinae had never been interested in the things Maya is - and not even because she looks down on Maya's interests, there's just never been room in her life for her to indulge in these kinds of things. Fashion and make up are things she can't afford so she doesn't take interest. It would just make her feel worse about what she can't have. Romance has no room in her life when she's been living day to day just trying to survive.

But finally!!! FINALLY!!!!! She has made a sense of peace for now, and FINALLY she is feeling something that Maya can recognize.

I think, yes, Maya is so perfect for this role not only because she is the one with the silly romantic fantasies, but YESSSSS because she is the person who has watched Shinae change since Nol entered her life, has watched how Shinae has grown since befriending those boys.

Something that I keep remarking on is that so much of Nol and Shinae's relationship has developed outside other others' views. Do either Soushi or Dieter even know what transpired at the formal? I can't imagine they do! So much happened that night that transformed Shinae's life and made them into people she can depend on, and while Minhyuk and Simhan can concede Shinae is acting out of character, they can't fathom WHY she would be, besides the obvious fact that she needs sleep. But MAYA. MAYA is attuned to these things. She's the one who can connect the dots.

I desperately need BOTH an echo of "Because you love him" AND a kissy kissy dream. I'm so greedy, I need it ALL. If that's what it takes to get through to Shinae, SO be it. To watch her reel in abject horror at the idea of having FEELINGS of LOVING in that way and be further haunted by it in a dream that leaves her feeling bereft upon waking? GIVE IT TOOOOOOOO MEEEEEEEEEEEEEE PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!

I might be in the minority here but.... considering the way Maya seems to ship LMAO and the way she loves all those really bad shoujo manga lmao I wonder if a part of her wouldn't be really open to the whole idea of it lmao. Like, oooh so saucy a forbidden romance? And what's more? His girlfriend is that ex friend of yours? STEAL THAT MAN FROM HIM!!!!!!!!!! lmao Maya, like Minhyuk, has that protective streak when it comes to Shinae, but I think Maya also has a favor for romance and romanticizing things. Also lmao is Shinae even going to MENTION Alyssa? Much like everyone else but Nana, I wonder if Shinae has even remembered Alyssa, if she would dare confess that the boy Maya thinks she likes (so not ready to admit her feelings lmao) is dating the very person who gave Shinae all of this trauma lmao

Because yes, I think like you suggested, Maya might see the positive effects Nol has had on Shinae, how much she has GROWN since meeting him. The fact that Shinae has never so much as had a crush on people that she can tell, and now she's beating herself up over him? I think where Minhyuk is trying to calm down his guard dog instincts lol, maybe Maya would approach it from a different angle, less practical and pragmatic.

It could even be something more so like... asking Shinae to imagine what her life would be like if he DID leave. Could she bear that? Less about what kind of person he looks like and more about what kind of person he turns her into. But also I would love if Shinae could open up a little about Nol - so far she's only talked to Minhyuk about him and even then he doesn't know EVERYTHING. I want Shinae to tell someone about the formal - that the drugs weren't Nol's but instead they belonged to someone Nol was trying to save her from, that he took the blame for someone else's doing. I don't think she's even had the chance to really clear his name for everyone else! They just know what they've seen in the media, on tv. Just the whole fact that like.... he was trying to save her is so important in understanding part of what makes Nol so special, that the Nol she knows isn't what the media is trying to make him out to be ;__________;

I really do look forward to getting to see Dieter call out Nol and, yes, be a little more proactive in his own life. Even if he's gotten used to people coming and going, I want him to call out Nol for the fact that he was just. Going to leave them like that, like he felt like it wouldn't impact their lives when it does! Something about everything that transpired on this night is that Shinae is the ONLY ONE yet who knows why Nol did that, who knows how he feels. I mean, I like to hope his I love you hug reached them, but he also owes Dieter and Soushi some explanations.

But yes, I also want him to call out Nol on how he's treating her. Like... she cares SO MUCH about you how can you keep hurting her, how are you going to put the moves on her and then shove her away like that? When all Dieter ever wanted was for Shinae to maybe change how she feels about him, to see him in a new light. And fine, it won't happen, but the very least Nol could do is treat her better, stop hurting her, stop lying to all of them ;AAAAAA;

It's a much needed heart to heart that will improve their friendship, I really feel it! There's a lot of clearing the air that needs go to on, but I can't fathom Nol walking forward without his friends at this point. It's that juxtaposition between him and Kousuke - he has what Kousuke doesn't ;A;

and that's the thing, isn't it? You're right - no matter what gets exposed, so many people are always going to hold it against her whatever happens to her. Even if it becomes evident she was groomed, that she's been manipulated, that these powerful people have been preying on her, there will ALWAYS be victim-blamers. There will always be people who shame her for chasing fame, because none of them know her. That's the crux of the prison Alyssa has created for herself. She wants love and validation, but all she will receive is conditional love - and that's not love. They'll only love her as long as she has the image they want, as long as she does want they want, as long as the investors are pumping money into her - and we don't want to talk about what she'll have to do to continue to earn their favor ;_____;

No one - none of those fans, none of those netizens, none of those investors - are ever going to know, or even care, about who Alyssa really is, and what motivates her. I mean... I guess the investors care, in that they know how to use it to manipulate her..... ugh.

So often young women are blamed for falling victim to predators, to being groomed. And yes, I concede that to some degree, Alyssa might know what's going on. She might, on some level, acknowledge that the road to fame is not.... easy. But I think she also so desperately believes the end will justify the means that she thinks it's okay, that she'll get through this.

But she won't.

She'll always be at the mercy of the fans, of the media, of the investors, of Gun Kim. And it hurts meeeeeeeeee.

Like you, I just want her to break free. What Alyssa really wants the most is to feel like she's in control, but the path she's headed down is going to forsake ALL the control she has of her life, and if she thinks that the love and validation she'll receive as a result will make it all worth it, she's going to find herself so, so wrong. None of that love means anything when it loves a fake version of herself, someone she has to play, a persona that she'll have to wear more than her real self.

She'll just find herself more alone than ever, and I'm really afraid that she may even lose Meg in all of this. That she may, yes, have to rebuke Nol, that she may have to turn against people thinking that it will bring her to her ultimate goal but instead she'll just find herself further and further from it.

When I say I want her to fail, to crash and burn, I don't mean it because I think she needs to experience pain, because I want to seek revenge on Shinae or Nol. I mean, I think this is the only way she'll ever learn to love herself first and foremoest, to put her own opinion first, to stop caring so much about others and find love for herself where no one else will give it. I want Alyssa to be FREE and I'm so scared that she'll never get there. ;___________; Alyssa is a character I've come to care SO MUCH about. Watching these predators prey on all of her weaknesses, to hit her right where it hurts, to butter her up and offer her that much coveted praise, to give her this false promise of something better, something worth it ;____________;

I wish she could have seen herself the way Shinae did. I wish Shinae could have ben enough. I wish Alyssa hadn't been so afraid of a secret she wanted no one, not even Shinae, to know that she could have known peace letting Shinae love her for all she really is ;__________________;

To be fair, not many people even make it to the League, the fact that Larry decided he'll do it, because it's the fastest way without having to make Geeta look for a temporary replacement is all the better.

I mean at the end of the day, this is pre Nemona as a Champion win, meaning that it's been a good long while since we last HAD a Champion. While Geeta is wondering about the ethics of it, it's only for like a couple of months.

I know that this is not a devils night confirmation info page or anything, but i just would like to know your interpretation of will's line of "she was hot in the shower, on the beach, on the wall, on the hood of his car under the rain, in his bed". By the end of nightfall, i dont even know which one is the truth or which one is the lie because will grayson lies so much. Like did he actually did all that? So how tf am i supposed to see him as a great romantic book hero? Like, idk im so confused rn. By the end of nightfall, i ended up only loving emory scott from this series, and hating will grayson. I was so disappointed when we didnt get enough banks by fire night. But shes my second favourite.

and what do you think were the things will lied about or the things he said the truth was? And wtf was he saying about alex being his safe place and port on the strom? Why did that sound like rika when she talks about kai, because michael was it for her, and only with michael, rika felt everything she needed and wanted to? Was that what will meant? Because it felt eerily similar, yk. I’m definitely not a confirmation page or anything. If anything, I see the series totally different than a lot of people – especially Will. I’m not sure if I’ll say anything that makes the pain better, but I’m always happy to talk about it.

Yeah, I absolutely think Will did all those things with Alex. All that and more.

But it wasn’t special. They were both sleeping with multiple people. Alex was sleeping with Michael’s father, for example. Sure, they probably enjoyed each other’s company more than they did with others, but I never saw any evidence of anything romantic between them. And in a series about characters that started having sex without commitment as early as 14 or 15, I don’t see this as odd behavior on their part.

For instance, it was odd behavior for Kai to NOT be having sex in Corrupt. That was his whole part of his storyline. So, Will carrying on from where he left off before prison was normal and expected.

I do agree that Will saying this is cruel. He’s intending to hurt Emory. But this isn’t the first time he’s done this. It actually echoes what he used to say in high school.

He said something similar in her room the night he tried to end things with her. When Will wants to hurt Emory, he reminds her he has options. And Emory has no problem using his casual slutiness to try and hurt him in return, but that's besides the point. The point is the question this brings up:

Does he actually want those options?

I think we can all read that scene and know both of them are lying. Will says himself he doesn’t want anyone but her. However, when Emory comes back that she was just using him, seeing what all the fuss was about, and now she’s done with him, he’s hurt. He wants her in all ways, but she's saying she doesn't want him. So he tries to cover it up. He's lying. He doesn't care about any of the other "options", he just wants her to be jealous and hurt like he's jealous and hurt.

In Blackchurch the situation is slightly different. He wants to hurt her for other reasons, not just because she didn’t want him like he wanted her. However, I think apart of just how vicious his anger got was him frantically trying to build a wall to protect himself. If he didn’t manage to find a way to defend himself against whatever it is about Emory that draws him to her like a moth to a flame, he risked bearing himself to her cruelty again. I’m not sure if he was ready to do that. So he relied on his anger and the same old tactics that worked before. In the scene you mentioned, he's just giving his "options" a face.

I mean, if you don’t see him as a romantic hero, there’s nothing wrong with that. There’s not a lot about the Present timeline/Blackchurch arc that is romantic. But I do find both of these characters sympathetic in some ways, and I’m happy they found a way to happiness with each other after all this time.

Yes, exactly.

Damon and Alex indulged Will. They were so enamored with this boy with childish tendencies – this Peter Pan-like man – that they were willing to let him destroy himself rather than expect more.

Alex did it because she was also hiding from reality. Damon did it because he wanted Will to never lose what made him so enthusiastic about life. Will should never be in pain. Because Damon was completely consumed by the hatred and anger in him, and he’d placed all his happiness and what was left of his goodness in other people. It was important to him to protect that in Will. Of course, this means that both Alex and Damon see what they want to see in Will, and not necessarily what’s there.

Because Will wanted to grow up. When Emory was leaving him in high school, she said she didn't want to be someone he needed to take care of, someone pathetic with a lot of baggage he'd get sick of. What she didn't understand is that Will desperately wanted to take care of her. He wanted to hold that baggage, and he was patient enough to never get tired of holding it. He wanted to be a man, and to be important to people, and be dependable and relied on. He came from a world where no one needed him. He was just there. I recall how when Will was tucking Emory in after homecoming. The conversation they had about what Will's future looked like. It was joke, but apart of Will wanted to be the important man in the great suit for Emory. That's how he imagined their future - sans Heidi.

If he could get Emory to love him… if he could be special enough for her, and be the only one she went to when she needed something – love, affection, happiness, help… other people didn't need him like that, but he really wanted to be that for Emory. He wanted to be that important to her. Problem was he had no idea how much help she really needed. It was all a fantasy that was never going to happen, because Emory was not the girl he thought she was. Once he realized that, he was hurt that she wouldn’t even try to depend on him. He was that unreliable.

And then, when he gets out of prison, he finds out that Damon lied to him about who leaked the videos and then disappears, Kai and Michael are having their usual bromance, leaving him out of the plans, and who does leave him with?

Alex. So he hides in her. And Alex hides in him, but Alex also doesn’t need him to be anything other than there. She can take care of herself, she has a roster of callers. She's taken care of. He doesn’t have to be a man for her. They let each other be weak without judgement, but eventually even Will gets tired of that, and starts down that "inevitable road" to growing up without her.

He can’t make a commitment to Alex, anyway. Because in his heart, he knows it’s still only Emory that he wants to be that man for.

There are so many recycled plot points and beats throughout this series, it’s a little exhausting to count. Still, I hadn’t considered it from this angle.

Emory as Rika, forgiving Alex, Aydin, and Will the way that Rika forgave the horsemen.

Wow. Galaxy brain.

Regardless. I still hate Aydin and refuse to accept him as part of their little family. He’s gross, and I hope he and Alex go off on one of their adventures and never come back, and the group just forgets they were ever there.

Unlike most around here, I don't mind Alex’s presence totally (I’m more irritated with her overall character execution than her role within the story, but that’s for a different time), except for the fact that she married that man. I do absolutely hate her for that.

that train scene with kai and michael, as much as they pissed me off, i can see why michael and kai said that because they were probably testing her loyalty.

I don’t think they were testing her loyalty. Well, maybe Michael was. Another anon several months ago suggested Michael was also trying to keep Emory close for Will. Which, that’s an interesting thought.

Kai, I think, was just salty and still consumed with guilt over getting arrested and needed to project a little.

Oh, so Emory deserved to have her grandma ripped away from her and put in a home where she would most certainly be neglected and die?

You guys actually committed those crimes, regardless of whether they were for a good reason. Emory did nothing to deserve the way her brother was treating her. Please get over yourself.

I think this would have been a much better plot, though. Yes, because I hate Aydin and his storyline, but also because this makes more sense!

It makes more sense that Will would find the letter and disappear. Once they figured out he’s in Blackchurch, Kai would have more understanding of what that kind of environment would do to Will. I think he said that Will stopped eat? I could be misremembering though.

So to motivate Will, they could give him something he wanted, like coaxing a dog from a shed with a treat.

Or I could go on replotting the entire thing. I think what the point is, is that almost anything would have been better than what actually happened.

While I appreciate Emory being unwilling to give up and continuing to fight, the truth is that she was being a little stupid. Just a little.

They were on an island, off the coast of Canada, in the middle of October. She had no clothes except what she was wearing (which was usually boxer shorts and a button up shirt?), and usually only managed to grab at most two days’ worth of food.

She was going to let her pride and inability to face Will get her killed.

Now, I don’t doubt for a second Emory’s drive for survival. It’s possible she would have figured out how to live in the wilderness. The best option, however, would have been to play nice with Alex and Will. Not be friends. Just Be. Nice.

If Alex was right and the team was coming to save them, great. She’ll be taken off the island. She can hit the ground running in the opposite direction as soon as her feet hit pavement.

If Alex was wrong and the team wasn’t on their way, when it got close to the thirty days, she could sneak away then, so she only had to plan on surviving outside the house for a short while until the supplies team came. At which point she’d have the freedom to move about. Either talk to a member of the team or sneak aboard whatever transport they came in.

But either way, she’d need to survive in the house, and getting as many people on her side as possible (which would mean stop antagonizing everyone who pissed her off) would have been a smarter move. Emory needed to be prepared to play the long or short game. Blackchurch was not Thunder Bay. Being a lone wolf was going to get her nothing useful.

However, if she did that, we wouldn’t have our beloved Emory, would we. Much like Will, I love that she never let the opportunity to snap at them pass.

This isn't to say that Emory isn't one of the smartest people in the group. I have no doubt that her and Banks run circles around them any day of the week. Just that in this particular situation, she was not doing her best. Understandable, though. She was only a little stressed out.

How are they gonna build an empire with these brains? And rika being mayor at 22? WHAT IS GOING ON AHAHAHAHAH stop.

Yeah, I don’t know. That whole “rule the world” thing really bugs me. One, why did Damon only include his sisters and not the whole family?

Two, why does Banks have to do everything Damon wants? When does she get to choose?

Three, I don’t mind the idea of Rika being mayor…eventually. But Rika has barely graduated college. What experience does she have to run the town. I’d have much rather they used someone like Katsu or Vittoria or Matthew Grayson as a placeholder until Rika was old enough.

If there’s anything that we learned from the Rika and Banks bonus scene, is that Rika still really suffers from insecurities and embarrassment too much. Why is she letting a 20-year-old bully her over something that happened 15 years prior, and for something that is completely normal in their social circles? I don’t trust Rika to run a PTA without falling victim to peer pressure. Who gave her a town?

Four, …they own an Inn, an amusement park that’s only open like one-three months a year, a dojo, and a humanitarian project. They’re rich kids playing with the money they inherited, doing a lot of nothing, and making more money for themselves. Exactly what empire are we building here?

Yeah… anyway. I don’t know why I’m still here. Other than, I love these stupid characters and want better for them. I wanna play with them like dolls. It's s all pretty dumb though.
