i'm losing my mind how are there STILL ACTIVE CATRA HATE BLOGS it's been FOUR YEARS how are you still this mad about a female abuse victim!!!!!! how do you STILL not get it!!!!!!!!!!

I have been in enough fandoms to understand that some of the people who stick around the longest are those who act the most scarred after watching the media. It's like stockholme syndrome. Or it's like hating the thing is what gives them drive in the world.

I have also been on the other side of this. I remained a Homestuck blog for a whole four years after the ending made me depressed about Terezi Pyrope, even lasting an additional year and a half after the dogshit epilogues released, through to the demise of Hiveswap and Homestuck^2, before I realised enough was enough and let Adventure Time give me sanctuary again.

But Homestuck had its Gamzee fans who hated the comic and fandom, Adventure Time had its Lemongrab fans who hated the show and fandom, and it seems She-ra has its fair share of antis.

The She-ra antis consist of the following groups, from my observation:

Former fans who got obsessed with some other show and have to bash She-ra because it ain't cool anymore. Usually Owl House fans but can be from anywhere. Their hate is universally connected to propping something else up, and is never done in isolation.

Hordak fans who hate Catra and maybe every other character and crew member and the show. There are a lot of the reverse, Catra fans who hate Hordak, which is part of why this group is so persistent, as a "counter" to this Hordak hate. However, the Catra fans who are Hordak antis MOSTLY do not hate the show (they are just... out of touch with it and generally have bad takes). I've seen one or two extreme cases of Catra apologists accusing Adora, Scorpia, and even Entrapta of abuse, but they were completely alone in their feelings. The Hordak fans who hate Catra tend to also hate Glimmer, Mermista, Adora, Bow, and say that the show is ableist or whatever, but they do not actually harbor much love for Entrapta. Her victimisation is an excuse for their behaviour and they have no understanding of her chaotic character. Do not interact.

Glimmadora fans (the ones who purely seem to exist to make 'Spop Is Abusive' posts). Why the fuck Glimmadora fans hate the show so much, I do not understand. But these are probably the most In-Your-Face of these three groups. While the Hordak fans mentioned above have a lot of similarity to Homestuck Gamzee fans or Adventure Time Lemongrab fans in the weird way they'll hate on the show for doing their blorbo wrong, Glimmadora fans don't have that evidence because they don't really care about Glimmer or Adora. They have absolutely nothing to say about the show, other than that it is Bad. My theory on these Glimmadora fans is that they really liked the Glimmer and Adora ship on a superficial level, and then the show decided to have its Deeper Themes and give Catra and Adora a messy, complicated relationship. There was a lot happening after season 3 where people went "CATRADORA IS REALLY ABUSIVE AND CATRA IS HORRIBLE AND YOU SHOULDNT SHIP HER WITH ANYONE". This period was SO fucking harmful to the fandom that it never recovered, so much work was lost and deleted from AO3. People would say "Glimmadora is a much better ship anyway". But then when season 4 rolled around and, uhh, Glimmer was acting like a little shit all season (for good reason but she really fucked things up with Adora), and Glimmadora crumbled into ash? Well the Glimmadora truthists felt like the show was working against them and that Season 5 was a grand conspiracy to make the Abusive ship Catradora canon!!! The funniest part of this is I sympathise a lot with these feelings. I used to be a Glimmadora truther myself when I watched the show in fall 2021. I was like, "wow, look how nice this ship is. And they go with catradora in the end?? Fucking HOW???". But then seasons 4 and 5 happened and.... yeah, I was disappointed with how Glimmer and Adora's friendship ended up, but I was ENAMORED by the messiness of Catra's character and how raw her and Adora felt about each other even in spite of all the bullshit. I never made excuses about the show being abuse apologising. I analysed it purely in how believable the relationships were and what the intentions of the characters are.

Of these groups, the ones responsible for the most actual SPOP Anti blogs are undoubtedly the Glimmadoras. The only time I've seen something similar, so many antis appearing, was because of Steven Universe ship wars. You have NO IDEA how petty people feel about Lapidot, Amedot, all the dots, all the amethysts. A crew member was chased off the internet over it, or left the internet over the show's own decisions, depending on whether you believe the """screenshots""" that were taken of Zuke's ""private blog""".

Episode 1 - Widow

Maybe I'm just looking at it from a fic writer's perspective but it does seem a massive anticlimax to immediately let Tom and Kyra know Alex is okay? Like, you could have got a good couple of episodes of angst out of that uncertainty.

Why the fuck have they plugged the USB directly into the network rather than an isolated PC? 'Hur dur we checked it first', you literally believe Scorpia are smart enough to not be bluffing about the nebulous death threat but you don't think they could hide something on the hardware? Is this Home Secretary meant to be Suella Braverman? Or Priti Patel maybe lol. (Equal rights and all that, and if it had been a white male character I don't think I would have thought twice about the dialogue but having both your two new female characters be immediately proved wrong/ massively patronised/ blown up ain't hugely comfortable viewing tbh).

Don’t forget, Sea Hawk is also apparently Asian. I also thought Frost might be Asian at first bc she kinda looks… maybe stereotypical isn’t the exact word, but just like what comes to mind when you think of a little Asian girl. Not to mention, she was originally designed as a white (Nordic coded?) teenager for this show before they decided to age her down into the little sister character. Never mind the fact the little sister character already existed in the old series with Glimmer and Allegra, and they could have done something with that, but I digress. I’ve also seen some people say Angella is Indian coded, because of the accent and her voice actress. Or maybe it’s because they think her gem is reminiscent of a bindi?

But yeah, idk about Perfuma, Entrapta, or Spinnerella. I think Perfuma could be latina because if the actress? But the character gives off the vibes of such a essential oils Karen that I associate with entitled white women, to the point I think she might just be a tanned white woman? Though I’ll admit, when I first saw her design I considered black and white biracial, and I considered Pacific Islander. So I have no idea. I’ve also seen some people interpret Entrapta as black. Though, I doubt it based on the hair alone. I like to think she’s latina, simply because I want her as my Latin rep, and not the literal cat. As for Spinnerella, I got nothing. Maybe white? All I know is that Huntara should have been black, and isn’t even coded as black. And I think that’s dumb, because I would have loved buff, queer, gets-a-character-arc Grace Jones in this show, since we didn’t get to have it in the old one.

Okay, hold on. I had no idea Sea Hawk was apparently half-Asian. I had to look this up. It was "confirmed" (as in, on Twitter) by the lead character designer for SPOP, who also "confirmed" Scorpia as half-Asian as well. However, I'm pretty sure Frosta is supposed to be Inuk like Katara, but I don't think that was ever confirmed. I could be wrong. I'm not even sure where her kingdom is located, for that matter. The worldbuilding in SPOP sucks so badly I barely remember how the kingdoms were like, save for Perfuma's and maybe Mermista's.

Idk, man. I honestly don't think that much about most characters' ethnicities, because the SPOP crew clearly didn't put a lot of thought into it. I mean, the literal cat teenager who licks herself, who walks on fours, who bites and claws people, who hisses and hates water, and who's sexualized on top of it all, is supposed to be Latina. Or Iranian or Middle Eastern, because apparently OG Catra came from "Purrsia", which is like... the Persian Empire? And fans really want to apply that to the reboot, too. Except Catra's origins were never brought up in SPOP, only that Catra was found abandoned in a cardboard box according to Nate. Regardless, neither theories are great because both Latinas and Iranian women (and Middle Eastern women in general) are not treated like people. They're sexualized and are victims of colonization. I've heard people headcanon Catra as Indigenous, too. Which is even worse considering she got her hair cut against her will.

As for the other characters... I just don't care, lmao. I will agree that Huntara should've been black, too. But since the SPOP crew didn't care about developing their kingdoms and their origins, then I don't think that hard. I mainly mention and dissect "Latina" Catra because the fandom won't shut up about her. Idk about Entrapta's ethnicity, but if Latina Entrapta makes you happy, go for it. Especially because Latin America is pretty diverse, so there are a lot of possibilities.

I don't agree with the term Karen, though. I get what you mean, that Perfuma is annoying and ableist and treats other people like garbage, but sadly that's another term that actual misogynists use against any women who get angry. But I know that's not your intention, I get where you come from.

Advance apology for the long ask in a likely sea of 'em. A lot of people talk about wishing they could experience something they love again for the first time, this series was genuinely as close to that as I've ever felt. Just given the span of time my attention flucuated on and off but once the latter half of s4/s5 began my attention was absolutely nailed to your feed. Its up with Dragon Ball Z Abridged as parody series that become so dramatically effective they become a valid or definitive way to experience the series. Goddamned sensational.

Your portrayals of the characters soar. They provide a hilarious, cruder take on each that still cuts right to the soul of who these people are and lays it bare, which I think is the mission of any good-natured parody. Adora, Catra, Glimmer, Scorpia, Bow, Prime etc. There is not one that does not shine. It tackled a ton of issues and misgivings I had about canon, and even elevated or clarified many scenes and arcs through addressing them a more direct fashion. You took full advantage of not having to dress up and dance around the dark subjects canon was sort of doomed to handle inadequately given its age bracket and thematic priorities. Many scenes were jawdropping. Ive raved about it before, but your scene with Glimmer actually talking about her mom with Catra still leaves me gobsmacked every time I reread it. Your big moments towards the finale btwn Adora and Catra are obviously sublime and tie their wonderful arc off fantastically, but in my heart of hearts that cell talk will be the crown jewel of this project. Loved seeing the LGBT message take center stage in way canon had to hold back. To paraphrase Tolkien, I'm can't count myself among those gifted people, and youve def got a target audience in mind, but if youve ever worried if your stories resonate on a quote unquote "more universal" level, I promise you can put those worries to bed. Since becoming an adult ive intentionally sought out more and more queer-inclusive/created stories and I havent regretted it a bit, and the rising tide of fascist sexist/homo/transphobic bile in politics gets more and more frightening. But I've also seen how strong and resilient LGBT people are in the face of it, empowering themselves in no small part thru stories like yours. Please don't ever give up on your art. The world needs artists like you. Sorry if I come off pretentious or condescending, I feel like that when I try to get everything I think out at once. I'll be among the first to come running if you ever start another project like this or make something on an even grander scale. Thank you a thousand times for this. Also writing a wholeass sitcom pilot based on an offhand quasi-joke I made is the most weirdly touching thing I think anyones ever done "for me" (at least nominally cuz of me), especially a stranger. So thank you for that too.

Aw, you'll make me cry, you know! I think you've understood everything I wanted to do with this strip (or at least, when I started thinking beyond just 'characters saying fuck'), and... yeah, it's been an incredible journey, both for the blog and for me personally.

I've always tried to keep the parody good-natured. You can often tell, particularly in parody, when the creator dislikes one particular character (I mean, Horde Prime was probably the exception here), but I love all of them, so it really comes from a place of love. It's quite odd because I never set out to "fix" the show, and I wouldn't want to, but some things I've done seem to have had such an impact that a lot of people think I have done just that.

The Glimmer/Catra conversation is absolutely one of my favourite things I've written from this. It's such a pivotal moment in both their stories and character development, and I am truly humbled that multiple people have called it 'better than canon'. Like... I'm just some person trying to be funny and occasionally serious, and people are saying something I wrote is better than what a team of experienced professional writers did? Give over, no... But it's still a moment I can be proud of.

I won't be stopping writing things. This whole blog has given me a new lease of life and something to aim towards. I've got an excellent pilot script pretty much finished, and I do want to bring Hellspawn up to that standard too (thank you for suggesting someone make a Sweary Frosta sitcom - I'm someone!). That may well involve a complete re-write, but I'll be sure to share it.

(That's longer than usual, yes. Easter Vigil is actually one of my fave services of the year--we start outside lighting candles (the ones inside have been out since Thursday night, even the one we otherwise never put out), then walk into the dark church, then sorta speedrun bits of the old testament (with a hymn after every reading) and then we decide OKAY IT'S EASTER NOW :D and turn on the lights and make a lot of noise and sing a few more hymns--we don't sing or say alleluia during Lent so all the hymns have that in it. There's often MASSIVE amounts of church incense, too. Anyway by the end it's a bit of a party. Apparently some churches have an actual party after the service.)(side note if you're new-ish to these posts that I'm Episcopalian, like, the priests at my church are a gay man and a woman, we're cool people mostly I promise)

Bow, invisible, types away on Entrapta's computer she set up in the Horde thing, but when he gets it to start to do its thing he gets excited and says "I've got it!!" and Scorpia hears it and blasts him and is standing over him about to get him.

Broadcast over, back to Horde Prime. "Put an end to this mockery."

Catra injures the tentacle monster thing, but now that green is spreading into the room, and as Catra runs down the hall towards the Heart, she stops as Horde Prime shows up in hologram form

"I had such high hopes for you." like what, dude. keeping her around and chipped like a fucking puppet as an example? eugh. (something something about how her speeches to Adora while chipped were an obvious reference to people proselytizing high-control faiths)

the moment of distraction is enough for the tentacle monster to grab one of Catra's legs and she screams in pain D:

Poor Adora is just weakly going "No...no...wait" Shadow Weaver: "Don't lose your focus. We're so close."

But also damn one thing Shadow Weaver and Horde Prime (and Light Hope!) have in common is they both believe love and affection and "attachments" are weaknesses. Shadow Weaver just cannot seem to get it through her head that Adora's love for Catra (and vice versa) is helpful here. Not a detriment. Love isn't a distraction!!! It gives us a stable ground of security and safety from which to do hard things!!

Meanwhile poor Angella told Adora "take care of each other."

This is pulsating, and so is the Failsafe on Adora's chest

OH NO oh god Okay being near that much hardcore magic is making Shadow Weaver powerful--her hair does the floaty thing for the first time since, what, s2? And she starts reaching for it, but THEN--

Adora yells Catra's name and starts walking back towards her, and Shadow Weaver's hair falls down again and she says the most weirdly desperate-sounding "Adora, wait!"

Prime's hologram is still torturing Catra along with the actual tentacle monster

And y'all I know I talked about this a LOT way back in earlier seasons but I cannot tell you how accurate this keeps being in regards to dealing with an abusive parent. Like if you'd asked me, even after I cut off contact, if I wanted my dad to die, I would've said No! Of course not! At that point I didn't know whether the no-contact thing was temporary or not. I just knew I needed time and space to not be constantly stressed and anxious, for a notification on my phone to not immediately fill me with so much adrenaline my hands shook.

Anyway Shadow Weaver puts up a magical shield to keep Catra back

Honestly I'm not sure if it's 'topic' so much as like. Proximity. Which is a really heart wrenching thing to type.

(MASSIVE HEADER, I'VE BEEN IN FANDOMS BESIDES SHE RA, THIS DOESN'T APPLY TO THE MANY COOL SHE RA SERVERS I'M IN)

The most fun discord servers I've been in have had lots of different kinds of people. Really fun friendly types who were welcoming sure, but also snarky people or shy ones or others who were a little neurotic and rarely talked (me).

That leads to lots of different conversations and lots of different ideas which I think is a lot of fun for a fandom to have. But in retrospect it feels a little like there was this. Seemingly inevitable march towards division. Like small cracks keep forming as every one branches out. The internet as a whole has become pretty... discourse filled.

that doesn't exactly answer the question since the real Most Rancid Topic is like, problematicness or something. But I think division between friends in fandom hurts the most. I've started to come to the opinion that having a discord server in a fandom is like, a garden, and if you want an excellent community it probably takes some great amount of conscious effort and planning, but I'm not an expert in that

9 & 10. Worst Part of Fanon:

This isn't the 'worst' or anything but something I love about the show is how messy every one's feelings are. Glimmer and Catra practically kiss on screen (in my heart). Adora crushes on like half the girls she sees, Perfuma and Bow go on a date, Entrapta says 'its a date!' super casually. Catra blushes at scorpia etc etc

It's really fun to see the whole cast getting criss crossed in modern au's, but a lot of fanon just has them all destined for their endgame pairings from the start and I'd love to see some genuine glitra or glimmadora or scortrapta that's more than just the initial plot for something else.

Worst Part of Canon:

The worst part of canon is probably either like... Scorpia getting almost no resolution or Glimmer's season 4 plot line pretty much stopping dead in its tracks.

My real curveball opinion is that Spinerella and Netossa got WAY too much screentime in season 5!

They were pretty much entirely absent the first 4 seasons (even when glimmer was suddenly struggling with being queen.) So it was really surprising. Now, I of course loved their scenes. Extremely cute and gay, I absolutely see why they were included. But I feel there was so much to do and so little time setting up an entire arc that didn't necessarily have to be there.

14. What do I see in fanfic all the time:

(just a quick note that I've read lots of fics from really cool people I know on discord or have never met! She Ra fandom has GREAT fanfic. This isn't targeted at any one and if you're seeing this it's not about your fic!!)

TENSION AND BUILD UP FALLS APART CONSTANTLY!! for me I'm a fight scene writer and I think everyone can benefit from giving these serious attempts. When you write 3000 words of straight combat, you're forced to learn the push and pull and management of the stakes. The characters can't just yell loudly and keep going higher and higher, you need dips and crests and variety

Most fanfics don't have fight scenes (in this fandom anyways), but many have scenarios with the *pacing* of a fight scene. I consider arguments, sex, and reveals to be types of fights. They're great, but using only dialogue or straightforward descriptions will get cumbersome very quickly.

Fights teach you to pace out steps, descriptive variety, build up, all sorts of things!

Unfortunately a lot of she ra fics don't have a 'fight scene' (read: [big] argument, sex, or reveals) until late in the story. I think this causes a lot of authors to fumble their build up, moving too quickly and not lingering for dramatic effect. That's why it's important to practice 'fight scenes' so that you'll be ready for the climactic finish!

I also want to see more of myself writing. The last several months have been nails on chalkboard!!

A Wonderful Reunion... or Almost

Dejected, Elora clung to Boorman's arms, her thoughts turned to her evil double. How could she protect those she loved, having been confronted by her darker side, far more powerful than she was ? A strong sense of anguish seized her.

Remaining behind the group, Kida approached Aniel, sharing her concerns about Willow in their Pnakotic language "Ana ekallu dannu ul uḫabbu ša kiṣiršu?" (How can such a powerful sorcerer lose his magic ?).

- La nādi lā ištaqqal šarru. Ana nakāšu miṯallim narkabtišu, ina mušakku inaššu tamītim (He hasn't lost his magic. Since the death of his wife, for which he feels responsible, he has lost all self-confidence). Aniel replied serenely.

As he gradually came to, the first face Airk saw when he opened his eyes was that of his sister. He smiled tenderly as he took her hand, gently recovering from his injury.

- Hi, little sister. he murmured

- How are you feeling ?

- I’m fine.

He tried to sit up, but a slight pain made him wince. Noticing the dark expression in his sister's eyes, he questioned her with his gaze, but she ignored him and asked.

- What's happened ?

The young prince lowered his bitter eyes and spoke sadly.

- We've lost Tir Asleen. King Hastur and his demons attacked us. He betrayed our mother, our father, our alliance.

Kit's fingers tightened violently around her brother's, as anger flared inside her.

- I never trusted him. She glanced at the armor, "What's that armor?"

- Oh, it was Father who conceived it for me, believing I would become the person he so hoped for. The memory of what his father had expected of him, and the person he had become, tore at his heart.

As he spoke, the terrible vision of his nightmares was superimposed on the image of his sister, creating intense anxiety within him.

- Airk, what's happening to you ? Kit asked in concern.

- I want you to know that I love you and will do anything to protect you. He replied, his voice trembling. Then, thinking of Sorsha, he added, "How's our mother ?

- Scorpia had her imprisoned.

Seeing his sister's worried look, the young prince tried to reassure her.

- Don't worry, Jade will find a solution. She's with us. Just trust her. We must avoid aggravating the existing conflict. Promise me you won't do anything stupid.

But Kit's silence proved otherwise. Intrigued, Airk insisted, "You won't do anything stupid ?"

The young woman didn't answer and left, despite her brother's insistent calls, "Kit! Kit!"

At the same time, Jade approached the pit where Sorsha was imprisoned.

- I'm sorry, my Queen, I'll get you out.

For the first time, the queen of Tir Asleen confided in the young knightess.

- I didn't want it to happen like this. I never wanted to separate you from your family. she declared regretfully.

She paused briefly before continuing.

- When Ballantine saw you in the middle of that dust, that field of corpses and those cries of suffering, holding your mother's body in your arms, he wanted to protect you, to save you. He told me you were the greatest gift life had ever given him, the reason he wanted to fight the darkness.

Jade, distraught, felt a few tears roll down her cheeks, the loss of her adoptive father still too present in her heart.

Sorsha looked at the young woman, her eyes filled with remorse.

- For all the love he felt for you, he was consumed by this secret. He wanted to reveal the truth about you so you could have a choice. All he did was obey my orders.

Although Jade was deeply touched by the Queen's words, her concern for Kit outweighed any other emotion.

- I've come for Kit. She tried to kill my sister. All that rage, that darkness in her eyes, was so frightening. said the young woman.

Sorsha remained silent, overwhelmed, before answering with gravity.

- I've been dreading this moment. If you only knew how much I wished her father were here.

She stared at Jade, deeply saddened.

- I feel my daughter is in danger, but I feel so helpless.

After a short pause, she continued.

- As she grew older, I could see her taking a greater interest in her father's adventures, sharing moments of combat, turning a simple piece of wood into a sword rather than bending to the obligations of her princess rank. I tried to take her away from all this, but soon realized it was impossible. When Madmartigan left the kingdom, I had to find someone to channel her battle lust, and that was you. All this training had but one goal.

- Whatever the danger, I'll protect her, Your Majesty.

Sorsha looked at the young woman with esteem.

- Not only are you on your way to becoming a great knightess, but also a great leader.

After her conversation with Sorsha, Jade hurried back to Kit. Worried that she couldn't find her in the tent, she set out to find her in the night-darkened Wildwoods. Restless thoughts raced through her mind, following her companion's recent actions. When she spotted her at the foot of a tree, sharpening her sword, a feeling of relief came over her. She sat down beside her. But the young princess ignored her.

Jade placed her hand tenderly on that of her lover, who was clutching her weapon.

- Kit, we need to talk. You can't run away from this discussion.

The young princess stood still, her gaze riveted on her sword, letting a short silence settle between the two of them, before speaking, her voice laden with sorrow.

- I couldn't control it.

- Control what ?

- That voice, my grandmother, hammering away in my head that Scorpia's death would free my mother and bring peace. Until…

Kit turned her tear-filled eyes to the one she loved and continued.

- I could never hurt you, Jade.

The young Bone Reaver took her beloved's face in her hands.

- I know. She murmured, before hugging her.

When Kit freed herself from her embrace, she looked into her lover's eyes and kissed her. She let herself be submerged by the soothing softness that only Jade could give her.

The first signs of fatigue were beginning to show. The cold night air was making everyone's limbs ache. Moving through the darkness in the heart of the Wildwoods was like going blind, knowing that danger could arise at any moment. The crackling of branches and twigs brought them to a halt, each on his guard.

"Don't take another step." Aniel ordered curtly, sensing an imminent threat. He addressed Kida, "Ana āluk tappānu." (Stand ready).

But despite the warnings, Boorman took one step too many. A strange sensation of pressure seized their feet. Nets materialized, lifting them up and trapping them several meters above the ground.

Kida, annoyed, snapped at Boorman, "You eccentric fool. What part of 'don't take another step' don't you understand ? I swear, as soon as we're free, I'll gut you and I'll do it very slowly with relish!!!" She reached for her sword to slice through the ropes of the net.

Everyone shouted, "Wait! Don't do anything!!!" Too late, the fall was brutal.

Lying on the ground, a furious Aniel berated Kida, "Šūtu inaššu wa āleku!" (You do it again and I'll kill you !).

- Anā ul ukallim. Ina qabluša rēmu mīšu. (I don't think so. You need me too much.) She ironized.

Just as they were about to rise to their feet, the Bone Reavers surrounded them, ready for battle. Fearless, Kida grabbed her two swords, defying their attackers. "Come on, I'm waiting for you. I'm going to let off some steam !"

However, Mims, trying to reason with her, murmured, "I don't think it's a good idea to provoke them."

Lori replied aggressively to the warrior, "With pleasure."

Just as everyone was preparing for the confrontation, Lori ordered his men to stop abruptly, having recognized the young Empress. Suddenly, the sound of his voice changed from aggressive to gentle, "Elora."

All eyes turned to him in astonishment. He approached her and wrapped his arms around her. The young woman was exhausted, both physically and mentally.

- What's happened to you? he asked in a sympathetic voice.

- It's a long story, Lori. she said, her voice breaking.

- The Empress must rest. interjected Aniel.

- Follow me.

He set them up in a tent, so they could spend the night warm and rested, had some food brought in and joined the leader of the Bone Reavers.

- Scorpia, I came across Elora in the woods, accompanied by Willow, Boorman, a Nelwyn, a being with a hidden face and a crazy ally. I put them up in a tent for the night.

- You did what! What were you thinking, Lori!

- It's Elora, and I couldn't leave her at the mercy of the dangers of the Wildwood.

- You know that the only danger to the Wildwood is us. Do they know about Sorsha?

- No, they don't.

- Post a guard in front of the tent entrance for the night. I'll take care of them tomorrow at dawn.

- Ok.

- Lori, it's not Elora, the sorcerer or Sorsha I'm worried about, but the princess. Keep an eye on her.

Inside the tent, the atmosphere was quite tense. Mims stood by Elora, watching over her, while Boorman kept a watchful eye on Kida and Aniel, communicating in Pnakotic. Willow approached him.

- Do you trust them? Boorman whispered.

- They know Madmartigan, so yes... a little.

But when Willow noticed the way Boorman was staring at Kida, his eyes wide with fear, he couldn't help but smile.

- Are you afraid of her?

- No, absolutely not. Nothing scares me. (He leaned towards his friend.) Don't you think she's a bit... psychopathic?

- She's a warrior. They're driven by a single goal: to protect Elora. They'll do anything, no matter what the circumstances or sacrifices.

Impatiently, Kida watched the guard at the entrance to the tent, ready to emerge despite the darkness. Aniel laid a reassuring hand on her shoulder.

- Pulû, Samāšu. Šumma libbišu ina šat iqbi. (Wait. It's better to wait until daybreak.) He murmured in order to hold her back.

- Mīn ša arhu innūnišma? Anāwum lā šumma ina hūrummūtī. Ina ša anāwum lā šumma napāḫuwa āru!!!! (What do you think they're going to do with us? We're not their guests. Otherwise they wouldn't have posted this guard!!!)

Willow, aware of the tension between the two individuals, tried to ease the situation to avoid any action that might arouse the hostility of the Bone Reavers' leader.

- We know Scorpia, she won't hurt us.

- I hope you're right, sorcerer. Kida replied curtly.

Before lying down, she glared at Boorman, who didn't sleep a wink.

Dawn was gradually breaking over the Wilwoods. Scorpia, accompanied by Lori, headed for the tent where the group had spent the night. She observed each of them, noting their fatigue and emotional state. However, her attention was focused on Aniel and Kida, whose eyes met, determined. Lori stood by her side, ready to act at the slightest sign of agitation from the warrior he never took his eyes off.

-What are you going to do with us? Kida asked in a loud, firm voice, breaking the heavy silence.

The two women clashed visually, each challenging the other. Until Scorpia, suspicious, called out to Kida in a stern voice, "Who are you?"

Seeing the tension escalate, Elora took the initiative of intervening to calm things down.

- We've been through some dramatic events, Scorpia. Tir Asleen has fallen into the hands of... (She didn't have the courage to pronounce Graydon's name or her own.). We don't know if Airk, Kit, Jade or Sorsha are still alive. Without them (she turned back to Kida and Aniel) and Boorman, we wouldn't have survived. You're our only refuge.

Memories of that terrible battle surfaced, bringing to mind the demonic faces of those who had attacked them.

Scorpia looked questioningly at Lori. The Bone Reaver's eyes left no doubt as to his answer.

- Bring them here. she ordered.

As he left, all eyes turned to Scorpia, concerned and questioning.

Moments later, Lori returned, accompanied by Jade, the princess and her brother, whose wound was still slightly sore. All remained briefly motionless and silent, before realizing that each of them had emerged alive from this terrible battle. However, the reunion was short-lived, abruptly interrupted when Airk caught sight of Elora's face. He rushed towards her, screaming, with the aim of killing her, before everyone's incomprehensible eyes. But before he could reach her, Kida intervened violently, throwing him to the ground, brandishing her sword to cut him down. Ready to pierce him with her blade before everyone had time to react, Kida was stopped dead in her tracks by Aniel.

- ša rēšu. ša māru Madmartigan. (He's the prince. Madmartigan's son)

She calmed down, sheathed her sword.

- Aššū lu ikkaru ana bānūtu šarri. (You know what I think of the royal family.)

- Ana aššū. Ina ša kī ana qātīšu. (I know. But don't forget our oath.)

Kit rushed toward her brother while verbally assaulting Kida, her gaze darkened, overwhelmed by anger.

- If you attack my brother again, I'll kill you!

- Oh how I fear !!!! It's with great pleasure that I'll plant my blade, lacerating every inch of your princess body, while savoring the pain in your eyes!!!!

The young woman was about to pounce on the warrior to fight her, but was stopped by Jade.

- Kit, take care of Airk.

- Wonderful family reunion. You can't find Lori. Ironized Scorpia.

- Wonderful, indeed.

As soon as the prince was up, he spoke in a panic.

- Elora has become a disciple of the Wyrm !!!!

- What? What are you talking about? Kit questioned.

He turned to his sister.

- She took everything from us!!! Our kingdom is nothing but a vast burnt field with destroyed homes, a chaotic place!!!! (He took her by the shoulders.) Please, listen to me, she and Graydon are acting for the Wyrm.

Kit could hardly believe her brother's words, when Elora intervened in a broken voice.

- Look at me, Airk. I'm not her. I'm certainly the cause of everything that's happened, but believe me, it's not me.

The tension had become too great, with everyone unsure of what to think and how to act. In an attempt to soothe the enraged spirits, Willow intervened.

- Let's calm down and discuss everything that's happened. We need to find an explanation.

What made you ship it?

well it TURNS OUT that there's a lot of overlap in Supercorp shippers and Catradora shippers, for some reason. can't imagine why! [puts a blanket over my venn diagram's cage]

so i went a little insane after she-ra came out (you remember) and read about 6k fics, just scrolling through the tag with some filters on & clicking on anything that looked interesting. it was a very interesting time in our lives. a lot of me going "huh? whah?" in call. birth of the scorpia disclaimer.

but eventually i ran out of she-ra fics. and i like... i couldn't stop, you know? and it turns out that some of the best she-ra authors have written a lot of supergirl fics. so it kept coming up when i was on author-specific binges. and i got curious! i'm a curious guy!

and then it turns out they're really cute >:( they're adorable, damn it.

ik i'm never gonna be able to drag you into this hole with me, since you already have a designated CW trainwreck, but if you're ever feeling bored the first one i ever read was really fucking funny and requires zero knowledge of canon. i didn't know alex's pronouns until halfway through bc i'd never heard of her (literally supergirl's sister). initially i clicked on it bc "superhero pretends to date her civilian identity" sounded hysterical but like... kara is so sweet, and so socially inept. and lena is a human disaster who just wants to help. and they both have crippling abandonment issues and no chill whatsoever

What are your favorite things about the ship?

i like that they appreciate each other. the version of them that i've constructed piecemeal from other people's opinions is such that like... they've both been pretty miserable, right? lena watched her mom die when she was like 4 years old and then got adopted by the luthors, kara watched her planet explode & pawned off by clark (who was like 30 years older than he was supposed to be bc of DC bullshit) on some human family and had to pretend to be normal for a decade or so.

and they both hide that pretty well, kara with kindness and lena with unapproachable businesswoman...ness... but they're both immediately fascinated by each other. and they're both sort of genuine with each other, even when they're in 'nice but bumbling civilian' or 'ruthless luthor' mode. so where it gets interesting for me is those moments they reach a mutual understanding of something, or where they trust each other in spite of Every Other Thing.

in like their first meeting lena says she's just a woman trying to make a name for herself outside of her family & asks if they can understand and kara is like "🥺 yeah..." and like they were just kind of fucked from there. sigh. you don't know how good you have it with riverdale polycule man. fuckin CW.

i have many but the one that comes up most often isn't an opinion, it's a fact.

I find myself VERY RESISTANT to this kind of shit so when the universe makes me feel like I want to hate a character I kind of go the opposite direction and love them harder than any of their fans.

For example I see so many infuriating takes with Catra and Hordak but I REFUSE to hate them. I insist on loving them more for all of their flaws, to be the one who loves them most for their character. I fucking adore those characters.

Maybe my opinion would be different if I was saturated by fandom like all the realtime watchers were? Like I'd be worn down.

I'm trying to think of other characters this DOES apply to.

For a show I'm genuinely obsessed with - The closest might be Lemongrab in AT fandom, he was super woobiefied by some people and some of those people were not particularly good to me or to the AT crew (talking events that happened over 10 years ago). I will be real it's nothing on the scale of what happened in shera fandom, and I still love Lemongrab as a character, but I avoid making anything with him in it because I don't want his fans to speak to me. Hoping the situation is different now.

There's also Simon Laurent from Infinity Train. I never particularly LIKED Simon, I find him interesting, but FUCKING HELL. TAKE ALL OF THE ABOVE CHARACTERS AND MULTIPLY IT BY 100. I was still getting messages from the "Simon Anon" A FEW WEEKS AGO SAYING THAT I NEED TO BOYCOTT INFINITY TRAIN because the creators said some stupid ableist about Simon, which they did, BUT IT'S NOT MY RESPONSIBILITY LEAVE ME ALONE. Anyone who is a Simon stan is usually completely terrifying, and is occasionally racist or sexist depending on their stance on Grace while defending their precious white boy. Once I entered a server and someone IMMEDIATELY asked me what my thoughts on Simon were, they were completely ready to start a fight with me over it and I've never felt more terrified in my life.

I also got sick and tired of Hunter quickly for pretty much the same reasons as Simon, though he's not written to be an evil incel like Simon, he REALLY IS the woobie boy that everyone considers him to be adn that's why I don't like him. I appreciate his character arc but ehhhhhh I couldn't stand him until the end of season 2 and during season 3 where it finally got past the "im going to be MURDERED by BELOS if i dont do EVERYTHING IMMEDIATELY" phase. The reason Catra never falls into this category for me is because she had supervillain energy and tried so so hard to regain agency and she kicked Hordak's ass and opened the Portal. Hunter meanwhile takes every hit, and I just... it is painful to watch, especially having been in situations of fear and psychological abuse. I don't enjoy it and I don't enjoy the fandom's TERRIFYING OBSESSION with him.

Zuko is almost a character I don't like. There is no anti-fandom for Zuko so I have no reason to stubbornly love him. People always compare every redemption arc to Zuko and I am fucking sick of it.

If it's a group it's ALWAYS Best Friend Squad 4 man, which makes sense I guess since theyre The Main Group but like... Q_Q i just want to include Entrapta and Scorpia and make it a BFS/SPT combo. Is that self indulgent of me? Especially when it's S5 fanart, I want more Entrapta because she was basically with them the entire time! Aaaaaaaaaa!!!!! I have a lot of thoughts on "4 man BFS" as an entity and why it works as an answer to s1, and why it doesn't work so well in s5, and why I am sad there was no s5 closure to sPT even if that is a dead sPT i just wanted one more scene--

wait that's not really what this question is about, we are crossing into canon wishlist but also fanfic modern AU territory and ALLLLL of my annoyances with how Adora and Catra's friend groups are treated in those. Like how Bow, Glimmer, Scorpia, and Entrapta are supposed to be their BEST FRIENDS but all become irrelevant and straight up absent once Catradora are together. Uhhh...

Okay more about Entrapta, a pet peeve is when people give her Normal Hair. Like, not absolutely insanely long rapunzel hair. Just normal hair. IT'S NOT RIGHT--- i guess people find it hard to draw her hair if they're going for a more realistic style?

I actually like most She-ra art I see though. It's very rare I see something that annoys me. There's not enough fanart posted in this fandom recently for me to have seen something that grinds my gears. All the catradora art is fucking gorgeous. I don't look at nsfw so I have absolutely no thoughts about any weird tropes like I would for other fandoms like AT where the fandom was a lot straighter and drew more demeaning stuff including the girls.

I can hear Kan yelling at me to post Entrapdak under this heading. Fuck you, Entrapdak is great!

I don't have any really wild out there crackships, I don't have any "problematic pairings", but I usually get self conscious and cautious when I post Catrapta, or any Entrapta x a member of BFS stuff, LMAO. Even the normal fluffy stuff but especially the sex headcanon post yesterday with Catrapta. The issue is a lot of the time people are like "she's way older than the others???" and either I have to say "actually, that was a post by a character designer with no evidence in the show--" and I look like an idiot trying to justify something wrong, or I just say "theyre both somewhere in their 20s" and get it over with.

But I ship all of the princesses with each other, I especially think Entrapta x Everyone is fucking hilarious, just go off girl. I'm not ashamed of that per se, it's just some people in this fandom have a stick up their ass with anything that isn't a Certified Canon Pairing.

Now if you want something I do enjoy and am mildly disturbed by that, it's Seadak. Sea Hawk x Hordak. And also x Micah. Just pair the dads together. They have never interacted but isn't it fucking brilliant????

Even if Catra fails Skeletor is still proud and tells her so as she picks her up to put her to bed because kitten is tired.

I like it a lot, because while Skeletor would be a lot like the other Evil Overlords Catra has had to deal with in other universes, he brings one thing to the table she has never had before, except from gruelling self improvement: Forgivness.

Catra turned on everyone in her life (not without good reason, mind you), Adora, Shadow Weaver, Scorpia, Entrapta, Hordak... and it drove them all away. Her SERIOUSLY loosing it in S4 was directly caused by her sending Entrapta to die and Scorpia leaving her for it.

But after she would backstab Skeletor (because of cause she would) and whatever stupid plan either of them were brewing would collaps because of it, and she resigned to a life alone he would be all "Haha, well done kitten. Too bad it cost me my evil lair, but those little woopsidoodles happen. Now, let's build a new evil lair and discuss our next evil plan together."

And the next time he backstabbed her, and she would return all full of fury and vengence he would be all "hello kitten, so glad you're here. Let's talk about how everything bad in our lives is the fault of other people" ... and the next time she backstabbed him he would be just "well done, sport. If I survive this, somehow, we're up for bowling on Sunday, OK?"

With Skeletor Catra would have what she did not have with anyone else - evil love that was non-conditional. (KINDA what she talked herself into thinking she had with Double Trouble for awhile).

Would it be great for her mental health - no. Would it make it possiblef or her to reach the levels of self improvement and actualization she did in the show proper? Also no. But would she have a hell of a lot of fun - hell yes

Hey :) I've been seeing ur posts about Alex rider and they look pretty interesting. I love whump but also never read them as a kid so I don't have the nostalgia value plus I don't usually enjoy media for children these days, though there are exceptions. Would you recommend them?

you're asking someone whose nostalgia probably colors their opinion, but i'd say yes, they're worth the read!

but, I'm not sure i'd readily recommend all the AR books. the earliest ones especially have a number of flaws in their portrayals of characters, and don't take themselves that seriously. i'd call them fun brain candy, solidly YA. fun reads, but maybe not what you're looking for.

i feel like the books grew up with their audience over time so while the latter half of the series is still YA, their tone feels more mature and well-rounded both emotionally and thematically. the writing smooths out, and the stakes are given real consequences, which i often felt was missing from early books.

if you're interested in the series as a whole, i'd say it's best to treat the books like fun brain candy. don't take 'em too seriously when they don't take themselves too seriously; and when they buckle down, you buckle down. adventure, spy shenanigans, anything-goes teen protag, good shit!

though if you're reading primarily for whump, i'd steer you more towards the latter half of the books. maybe like, Scorpia (book 5) and on? (mind, I haven't reread since early 2021 now, and I can't be held to complete accuracy for what events happen when in the timeline anymore hadgsf). OR, i'd direct you to the show as it takes a serious tone from the get-go, and fixes many of the narrative issues of the early books.

Sure! Listicles are the backbone of our society now, so I present to you all, in no particular order (and naturally with spoilers for everything I've made...up to now, anyway):

6 Times Sweary She-Ra Made You Want to Yell At Me

When Catra and Adora got 'married': People had been wondering exactly how Catra and Adora seemed to have been married for a long time - did the Horde sanction child marriages? Did Shadow Weaver don a vicar's outfit? The reality was both cuter and darker, as we saw the two of them as young children use Adora's half-knowledge of marriage to make a promise to each other that they'd always stick side by side in their little corner of Hell.

2. When Frosta really was a demon: Frosta's little ongoing make-believe about being a demon from another world was cute... and then we found out she wasn't playing at all. Trapped in our realm and cut off from the fiery depths of home, Frosta found herself stuck in the body of a small child, but managed to partially transform just long enough to show Glimmer who she really was.

3. When Bow came out to his dads and got the most Dad response: This was one of those lines that could never have been anything else. Bow was so sure his Dads would be disappointed that he was bi and not gay, that he went to some great lengths to cover it up. But ultimately, he told them the truth, and they supported him in the only way they know how - awful jokes.

4. When Scorpia said 'I love you' to Catra: The Crimson Waste was quite an experience for all of them. But no-one more so than Scorpia, whose infatuation with Catra finally seemed to be returned. And so, she summoned up the courage to tell Catra how she really felt - but didn't quite get the answer she wanted.

5. Angella's final words: Since the earliest episodes, Adora has reflexively called most older women 'Mom', but no-one was more deserving of that title than Angella. She took Adora in and looked after her in the first months at Bright Moon, but generally tended to ignore Adora's name for her. That was, until she sacrificed herself to close the portal - as well as telling Adora to make sure they all looked after each other, she left her with one final instruction: Call me Mom.

6. Scorpia tells Emily her secret: Scorpia believing, beyond all logic, that her family were just 'on holiday' was a funny, if sad, running joke. But it became a whole lot sadder when Scorpia revealed that she knew what had happened to them all along, and the lines about them being on holiday were simply her lying to herself as a way of not having to think about the truth. It put a lot of lines in a much darker context.

7. Bow swears: I'd mentioned a lot that Bow would swear exactly once in the series, and it's during his argument with Glimmer that it finally happens. There's F-bombs and then there's F-bombs, and Bow dropped one with the power to destroy planets.

And I know I'm going to be able to add to this list again multiple times this season and next! Because let's not forget we soon have:

She-Ra Season 3 Reaction

Yo. Just. I'm in awe. This show is AMAZING. As great as it is to see Catra go farther down the path of deranged depression, I'm sad to see the Super Pal Trio fall apart. Her obsession with one-upping Adora has led to her alienating herself from her friends, and even sending Entrapta away and lying to Hordak about it. It's awesome to see her be all mean and scary, but I'm also sad for Entrapta and Scorpia. In another world, perhaps things could have been better- and then we see another world where things are better. Holy crap, I love the concept of reality breaking down and just gaslighting you. It's such a fantastic premise for all kinds of scary stuff, and I love it. Of course, Adora had to stop it, or reality would have crumbled, but it was epic while it lasted. And Catra being all half-disintegrated and everything was cool too. And now the Horde as a whole is discovering the empty dimension that Mara sent the entire planet to to escape them! So that's fun! And Adora saw stars for the first time! In an alternate reality where Mara didn't open the portal, or something? That was kinda unclear what the heck was going on there. OH! And Glimmer met ShadowWeaver and I sincerely hope she learns some dark magic! I've been itching for that ever since she did the burst of dark lightning to defeat Scorpia in the Season 1 finale. I swear there better be some payoff to that, now that I know for certain that She-Ra didn't heal her from that curse at all because she didn't even know how to at that point, and because ShadowWeaver taught her dad and like father like daughter, yaknow? And it was super sad that her mom died, but I think it thematically tied up her arc pretty well. At least Glimmer doesn't have to keep sneaking out now. Her mom's main influence on the show was arguing with Glimmer about how she can't be expected to do the thing that she obviously needed to do to save the world. I'm not saying I'm glad she's gone, I'm just saying most of the time she was obstructing the heroes instead of helping them out. Like I said, it tied up her arc really well to have that sacrifice. The only thing that bugged me a bit was that everyone kept saying that the reality shifts weren't real, when Madame Razz literally said that they were, and I believe her. The sword was breaking down reality itself, and if reality itself is changing, then it's real. It's not some illusion. Glimmers mom whose name I can't remember died in the "fake" reality, and she died in the real reality, because that "fake" reality wasn't FAKE. I was really hurting when she left her husband saying it wasn't real, because I knew it freaking WAS. Since the Horde never existed, King Micah never died. Simple as that, just an alteration to the fabric of reality, time, and space. In fact, if they could harness the power of the portal reality breaking mechanics without actually, yaknow, breaking reality, they could have probably brought back King Micah permanently. He was real and he could have helped. In fact, he could have sacrificed himself to grab the sword instead, and his wife wouldn't be trapped in the space between dimensions because he would stop existing anyway. Problem solved! It annoys me when people say that alternate realities aren't real. Just a real pet peeve of mine. If you're experiencing it, it's real. Doesn't matter if it's time travel, multiverse, reality shifting, simulation, hallucination, whatever. The nature of how that reality works may be different, but it's still real and it still has a real effect. I've gone off rambling in some random direction. Getting back on track, She-Ra! Good show. Watch it.
