ATLA Unpacked: Kataang is Reactive, not Constructive (Part 1)
In my last rewatch of ATLA, I came to a conclusion about something that's bothered me since I first watched the finale in 2008. After *the kiss* which closes out the entire show, I've been of the opinion that Kataang was an absolute failure, on multiple levels. Over the years I've held that position through multiple rewatches and the perspectives of many other intelligent, passionate fans. However, why it fails is something I've thought more deeply about over the years. There are the implications of a romance with a very lopsided balance of emotional labor, and issues of one party's consent (Katara's) being violated without an apology. Those are serious problems and valid criticisms, but here I'm going to be examining how Kataang fails because of its position within ATLA's story. As a disclaimer, I am not invoking Zutara in this analysis. For most of my time as an ATLA fan I abstained from the shipping wars beyond an occasional comment, and I only became pro-Zutara within the last year after taking on the responsibility of writing about these characters again. Alright, here goes! Reactive vs Constructive? When I say Kataang is a reactive force, I mean that it disturbs the flow and direction of the narrative (the implicit and explicit messages a story is projecting to the audience) by contradicting and clashing with other things we're presented with. A constructive force, on the other hand, is something which shapes the narrative towards an internally sound and satisfying conclusion. To explain what I mean, I'll be going through the show in episode order. No Kataang in sight yet (B1:E1 - B1:E13) A commonly cited argument in favor of Kataang is that it was part of ATLA from the beginning and the show was building towards it all along. This argument doesn't hold up simply because of how many episodes go by before there are any implications of romantic interest between Aang and Katara. The closest thing to romantic subtext is the way Katara appears to Aang after she frees him from the iceberg. (B1:E1)
Tumblr media
By itself this doesn't suggest anything particularly romantic, especially since Katara is the first person Aang sees after a very traumatic experience. Later on he tells Appa "I liked her too" (B1:E2), but that's pretty nonspecific. After this we get exactly zero text or subtext until we're over two-thirds of the way into Book 1. Now a romance between two characters doesn't have to be developed from the very beginning of the story to make sense. However, things get messier for Kataang from here, so hold on tight. The Dashing, Dark-Haired Boys in Katara's life (B1:E6 - B1:E10) In my last rewatch I really took notice of how we see Katara's dynamics with no less than THREE dark-haired boys her age or older in the span of five episodes. First, there's Haru (B1:E6), with whom she builds a very sweet friendship that has some romantic possibilities. They bond over the struggles of losing their parents to the Fire Nation, and he's the first person who empathizes with her feelings about the death of her mother.
Tumblr media
Katara: I lost my mother in a Fire Nation raid. This necklace is all I have left of her. Haru: It's not enough, is it? Katara: No. (Disclaimer: Harutara was my OG ATLA ship) Next, there's Zuko (B1:E9), at this point her enemy and the one who finds her mother's necklace after she loses it at the end of B1:E6. Their parallels so far have revolved around the longing they project onto Aang and learning to master their elements. Here, in their first one-on-one interaction, a further connection is established through Katara's mother's necklace. Exactly why this is significant for Zuko isn't clear yet, but it pays off wonderfully later on.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Zuko: Tell me where [Aang] is, and I won't hurt you or your brother. Katara: Go jump in the river! Zuko: Try to understand. I need to capture him to restore something I've lost: my honor. Perhaps in exchange, I can restore something you've lost. (That first image is the perfect snapshot of how hilariously awkward this exchange actually is. Zuko's only cool when he's not trying to be) Finally, there's Jet (B1:E10), Katara's first crush. She's wooed by his good looks and guerilla tactics against the Fire Nation, then spends most of the episode smitten with him. Jet empathizes with her mother's death when she brings it up, but he also tricks her into doing something she would never have agreed to with full knowledge of his plans. When she confronts him about it, he tries manipulating her with what she told him about her mother, and she truly turns on him when she thinks he's killed Sokka. It's the first time Katara has had her trust violated, and it's a painful experience.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Katara: Jet, why? Jet: Katara, you would too if you just stopped to think. Think about what the Fire Nation did to your mother. We can't let them do that to anyone else ever again. Katara: This isn't the answer! Jet: I want you to understand me, Katara. I thought your brother would understand, but... Katara: Where's Sokka?... I can't believe I trusted you. You lied to me! You're sick, and I trusted you!
(Just putting those images together had me slightly teary. Poor Katara.) What these character dynamics have in common is that they're all constructive. They contribute to Katara's story without contradicting each other. Her feelings and agency are clearly emphasized, and all three boys exist as their own independent characters while simultaneously being part of her journey. Keep that in mind as we venture into our first real Kataang episode. Related Meta & Additional Reading - Katara's Romantic Agency by starlight-bread-blog

I Guess I'll Post About Shipping Mizu
The way I see it, we've got 3 options for Mizu: Akemi, Taigen, and Ringo.
I ship Mizu with Ringo.
Here is my long-winded breakdown of why.
Akemi is probably the worst match for Mizu. Which is really unexpected, I'm frankly almost always gunning for the lesbian option. There are reasons they could work: they could find some solidarity as women in a shared culture, each trying to find their own way. They are both ruthlessly determined and willing to be underhanded. However, they have led very different lives, Mizu of poverty and Akemi of privilege, and we see Akemi often acting very entitled, while Mizu is unlikely to ever give a shit about being 'proper.' Most damning, I think, is that Akemi is resolved to be Great by the end of S1, hence why she and Taigen don't work out. Mizu is very similarly not very interested in being great: she wants to kill some people, and is otherwise lacking in aspirations.
Which leads into me talking about Taigen. They have a shared appreciation for swordplay and martial arts. I'm not so blind I can't see the sexual tension in their fights. And they are both people who could be happy to settle down and live a mundane life, away from everything. However, Taigen is... especially bullheaded. Just kind of a dick all around. He's honorable, sure, but within the bounds of his honor code he is repeatedly an asshole. I cannot possibly imagine him responding well when he finds out that a woman is wielding a sword, and that flavor of constant dickishness really puts a damper on any of his stronger points.
Ringo, in contrast, is nice, in a way that I think complements Mizu very well. There are some issues, of course. Ringo also wants to be Great, like Akemi. There is a pretty big gulf between the two in how comfortable they are with violence, Ringo shying away while Mizu embraces it. However, Ringo is also actively interrogating what he wants out of life, which also reflects Mizu's struggles, and I can see them actually deciding on a life course together. There is also solidarity pretty much from the start of their relationship, Ringo accepting Mizu as a swordswoman and Mizu not dismissing Ringo as worthless, even praising his ability to be stealthy. Mizu is vulnerable with Ringo in a way that she isn't with the other two. Ringo is careful enough to balance Mizu's recklessness, but also willing to roll with her, and I like the dynamic.
The last big comparison I have to make is how each of them responds to Mizu's bullshit. When she hurts Taigen and Akemi, each of them are quick to reverse their positive impressions and start referring to Mizu in racialized terms. Ringo, however, calls her out for more appropriate reasons. And while all three have had their conflicts with Mizu, her conflict with Ringo never became homicidal or even violent. In fact, Ringo is the only one of the three who actually has a positive history at all with Mizu.

Trope grading game
Thank you @artsyunderstudy and @hushed-chorus for tagging me in this.
Actually took me a little bit after work to fill this out as I don't usually think too heavily about why I like a trope, and sometimes I'm in the mood for a specific trope and will look for those tags exclusively, but most of the time I'll read anything that isn't a big nope for me.
Rules: How much do these tropes affect your decision to click on a fic?
-10 -> very dissuaded 0 - don’t care either way +10 -> very enticed nope -> if it’s a hard no and you’d never click on a fic with that tag or or you even have the tag blocked or you’d insta click out of the fic if it wasn’t tagged Bonus points for explaining the rating and whether it’s conditional.
Age gap: -9
I wanted to say nope to this one, I’ve never really been in a ship/fandom that had any major age gaps, but ones with larger gaps or when one person is barely legal (18-20) it just puts me right off and gives me creep vibes. However, I didn’t give it a nope because there are some smaller age gaps that are fine, like Penny and Shep, if I remember correctly she’s 19 and he’s 22 when they met, an age gap like that is fine
Codependency: +5
Kinda hard to explain this one, it changes with the context but I do lean more towards being enticed
Obsession/Possessiveness, jealousy: +5
In cases like Simon and Baz, yes, 100% into that, but when it gets toxic or violent then I want nothing to do with it, there is nothing romantic about that
Opposites (grumpy/sunshine etc): +3
As long as that's not their defining trait, then I do enjoy seeing different dynamics where the characters balance each other out, plus I find even relationships irl tend to have some opposite differences to balance them out
Enemies to lovers, Enemies with benefits: +10
Absolutely, I eat this shit for breakfast, but it does have to be done right (like Snowbaz) they have to bond and actually fall for each other, not just be physical attraction and that's it, you can’t just have the characters hating each other and literally trying to murder the other only to turn around and bang it out
Friends with benefits: 0
I’m indifferent, I mean if it ends with them being lovers and there's some angst then hella yeah, but if it’s just friends banging it out for no reason and then happen to date because of it then no thank you
Sex to feelings: 0
As someone who is demisexual, this is a bit hard for me to grasp, but that doesn’t mean I won’t read it, sometimes I’m just really in the mood for smut and this can have the potential for some good hurt/comfort
Fake dating/relationship: +9
Now I really love this if done well, and I have read some really good Snowbaz fics with this premise and wish there were more (I may attempt to write one myself but idk if I’d be able to do the trope justice), but it can sometimes feel a little surface level and frustrating in the “why don’t you just communicate and everything would be better” kind of way
Friends to lovers: +6
This can be really fluffy, or extremely angsty and I’m down for both
Found Family: 0
I like the concept in theory, especially for Simon, his friends are his family (and once he learns about his actual family them as well) but I see this as more of a platonic thing and not so much as a romantic trope, and it can a lot of times be used to gloss over the trauma from biological family when found family isn’t some magic bandaid
Hurt/Comfort: +10 For everyone who’s read carry on, do I really need to explain this one
Love Triangle: 0
Depends on the ship, technically there was a love triangle between Agatha, Simon and Baz. I like it in a more light-hearted way where no one gets hurt
Poly, open relationships: -5
I’m perfectly fine with open relationships, and certain situations get a pass (Someone wicked for example) but I’m pretty monogamous and when reading a ship I usually look just for those two characters. I will say in previous fandoms I have read really good poly relationships so I might read it
Mistaken/hidden identity: +5
I think this would be a funny trope that could be done more, if done right. I have read a few wrong number texting fics that I will count as mistaken identity and they can be great
Monsterfucking: +5
Depends, I have to be in the mood for smut and it has to be written well because it can very easily turn me away
Pregnancy: -9
Again, another one I wanted to nope on, I click out of anything with mpreg; that just isn’t my thing, if it’s a hot couple or the pregnancy is through surrogacy or something then I have no problem with it.
Second Chance: +10
I need this, this works with hurt comfort. Break-up fics destroy me so I need a second chance trope to mend my heart
Slowburn: +10
No explanation needed
Soulmates: +5
Can be really cheesy which is fine, but if it’s cheesy and just not written well then I have a hard time getting into it, but when it is done well then I love it.
Tags under the cut

lestat and armand for the ship meme if you havent gotten em already because OBVIOUSLY!
Yasssss. I counted on you. 😆
Okay, these might be a little obvious, but here goes:
who’s the cuddler:
I feel like both of them are. And while Louis and Daniel for example accept their clinginess without complaint, I feel like with each other – once they got over themselves – it would be like... limbs tangled, fingers entwined or threaded into hair, faces nuzzled into crooks of necks, as close as physically possible. A whole-ass vampire Gordian knot. You know?
who makes the bed:
Armand. Lestat, bless his black little heart, is 100% a slob.
who wakes up first:
Hmm. Armand. He probably stays snuggled into Lestat for a good while, though.
who has the weird taste in music:
C'mon, anything weird is Armand's domain. Lestat loves music and gamely tries to be as adventurous as possible, but Armand still manages to hyperfixate on some obscure Peruvian doom metal that is played almost entirely on pan flutes or something and Lestat has to admit defeat.
who is more protective:
ARMAND. I mean, it's not that Lestat doesn't have sometimes even somewhat patronizingly protective feelings towards Armand, but... Canonically, not only is he Lestat's own personal guardian devil (come on, he even met Daniel because he trespassed on Lestat's resting place), he'll happily tear the head off anyone who even looks at any of his loved ones wrong, and probably use their skulls as decoration as well. Maybe eat their soul for good measure, you never know with him.
who sings in the shower:
Lestat. Obviously.
who cries during movies:
Lestat is a world-famous champion weeper, but I bet there's something completely unexpected that will get Armand misty-eyed. Or not so unexpected. Maybe he has cried once or twice while watching Blade Runner. Maybe he can relate.
who spends the most while out shopping:
Hmm. I feel like Lestat, an extravagant extrovert, enjoys the act of shopping more, but Armand is just as good if not better at burning money on things (and then abandoning them or forgetting they exist).
who kisses more roughly:
Huh. I don't think there's a clear-cut answer to this one. Their canonical kisses are all, IIRC, rather tender, sweet, or casual. I think Armand might get a bit more bitey, but not exactly rough, not with Lestat. 🤔
who is more dominate:
Again, there's no simple answer because their power dynamic is overall particularly complicated, nor do I think you can really separate the (semi-)sexual power dynamics from their overall power dynamics.
I mean, Armand is canonically a switch, and I always got the vibe from Lestat that he's probably too when it comes down to it. And then there's that whole aspect of odd mutual... deference, I could say, that has elements of worship. And I mean... Lestat looks a lot like Marius, which I'm sure initially absolutely messed with Armand's head, especially in those circumstances, so there's that. And Lestat on the other hand will probably always be a little bit in awe of Armand, in all meanings of the word. So I'll just say that it would probably take some time for them to find a balance that works for both of them.
my rating of the ship from 1-10:
Honestly, can I even give them anything but 10? I don't know if they were originally my 'favourite ship', as I think my teenage self sort of went "right, these guys don't operate by any traditional human relationship conventions so 'shipping' something would be a bit silly" (okay I did have a soft spot for Marius and Pandora, but I digress). But I'm sure I always found them fascinating. Because... come on. All hyperbole aside, who is doing it like them?? Two centuries plus of drama, devotion, and... defenestrations? I could say so much more and pull so many quotes, but let's just leave it with: "Does anyone else know the size of your soul?"

🔥 TWW
I have many opinions on TWW and some of them are fairly unpopular so uhhhh here goes.
I'll get the biggest one out of the way first: for when it happened, I actually don't find the shuttle leak storyline out of character for Toby, nor do I hate it. If it had happened back in season 4, sure, and I'm mad at the post-Sorkin writing team for their slow destruction of Toby's character, but by end of s6, start of s7, it's not out of character for him. Could it have been better executed? Sure. But where he is as a character, unfortunately, it doesn't feel supremely terrible to me.
Second, the best Donna is season 1 Donna. A bit of an audience surrogate sometimes but in a not-overly-clumsy way, funny and spunky and just a bit quirky... and her dynamic with Josh is SO fun in season 1. I'm almost through s1 in my rewatch and I'd genuinely forgotten how much I enjoyed Donna. I feel like she really got flattened out once they really committed to the will they/won't they with Josh, and then was worse because of the whole season 6/7 disaster (that was a mess!), PLUS they had her make some very dumb decisions to advance the plot that did not feel realistic (the dumb shit with Cliff Calley, the accidentally voting for Ritchie).
(more under the cut because apparently I'm not done!)
I know season 5 was the weakest season overall, BUT season 4 was the weakest Sorkin season. I'm not saying season 4 needed to be all about re-election, but I feel like there was a better balance to strike between the "rush through all the election stuff by episode 8-ish" and "stretch it out into a season and a half long affair" (as in 6-7). It also just, despite everything it took to get to this point, felt INCREDIBLY rushed and unsatisfying. it didn't feel like there were any stakes! I wanted to see the whole debate, I wanted to see a genuine election night with stakes, dammit! And I think, much as I love Will, that dedicating so much time to THAT storyline was part of the problem. This also wasn't helped by the fact that Ritchie was a caricature and a Bush expy which worked when the episodes were airing but just makes him look cartoonish and one-dimensional now. Like Arnie Vinick may be a unicorn of a Republican and impossible to believe in now, but at least he's a person and not a cardboard cutout. Anyway! It feels like for all the build-up to the difficulty of getting re-elected post-MS scandal, it was just. they won, shuffle them offscreen again.
Okay, fuck, this is getting long.
I don't MIND Annabeth but I find the whole Leo-Annabeth flirtation thing REALLY weird and honestly out of left field. That scene in the elevator where she says they shouldn't be spending too much time together 'because of the tension', I was RIGHT THERE with Leo like 'what tension?' Like I'm sorry, I just don't see it!
Okay a few more bullet-point gripes just because
I got used to it eventually but I'm still not a fan that CJ got promoted to COS. Like yeah by the end she did a damn good job and she has one of the best relationships with Jed, but c'mon. she loved being press secretary, and she was a damn good one.
CJ's dark hair in season 7 is not a good look on her, I'm sorry CJ my love, but it doesn't look good. The only non-canon part of the flashfoward is that she definitely does NOT still have that hair.
Amy was fun when she first appeared, but in seasons 6 and 7 her character definitely got worse.
For the most part, I actually wanted less election plot in season 7 and more focus on the west wing (and I say this as loving both Matt and Arnie!)
Gina Toscano/CJ is a great ship also. I rewatched "six meetings before lunch" last night and remembered that I ship them.
Episode specific: the B-plot of Requiem makes absolutely no sense to me and I've watched the episode about 6 or 7 times now (the whole 'meddling in the speaker race' plot).
And finally: Danny should've been in every single season, as a regularly recurring character. I know that Tim Busfield was busy with other commitments but Mr. Busfield, I'm begging you.
TL;DR:

Top 5 Fire Emblem ships you wish people understood the vision?
Most of the ships I like are pretty mainstream, so this is a hard question to answer, but I'll just talk about them anyway
1. Mareeta/Ced
This is probably the only actual rarepair I like. It's definitely a bit of a stretch since they have 0 dialogue and only 2-3 chapters that overlap where you can deploy both of them (and they don't even have that much if you choose to recruit Saias instead).
If you really wanted to you could find things that they have in common but admittedly part of this ship is that I just like both of them a lot and have no one else to pair them with. Ced has Altena but I don't really like Altena that much, and Tine but I don't think Ced and Tine have much of an interesting dynamic together. Mareeta has Saias which is just weird tbh.
Overall it's not an impossible ship or anything, just one that probably has to happen after the war rather than during it.
2. Tine/Febail
This isn't a rare ship but also not common so I thought I'd include it. I was introduced to the idea by friends and I think its growing on me, partly because you can easily imagine Tine and Febail meeting before the main story. Febail probably worked multiple jobs for Bloom before what we see in game, and Tine sneaks around to help villages in the northern area. And again, I don't have any other ships I was previously invested in for either of them. I kind of want to draw a comic / 'manga' of how I imagine their first meeting could have gone, but I don't know if my drawing skills are good enough for that.
3. Arthur/Fee
They are incredibly mainstream but I feel like I never mention them so I'll do it here. Their banter is cute, and it makes the serious moments shine more, like when Arthur expresses some genuine worry and Fee's confused. Someone bubbly like Fee is great for balancing Arthur's rougher personality.
4. Leif/Nanna
Again they are pretty mainstream, but out of all the mostly-canon Jugdral ships, they don't get talked about that much. From what I've seen it feels like a lot of people just pair them together but aren't that invested in their relationship, but I am. I don't usually like childhood sweethearts as a trope, but Leif and Nanna go through a lot growing up, and it's not a stretch to imagine them relying on each throughout that. They always have each other even if they have to leave other people like Asbel, Miranda and Linoan behind while on the run. Overall I just think they're really sweet together.
5. Lene/Ares
Not a rarepair either but I'm running out of Gen2 ships. This used to be one of my favorite ships period, and I still like it but I did recover from being completely deranged and moved on to other ships for that. I can imagine them in Darna together, not really having anyone else but each other. I also think the point of their big fight is something that actually makes sense, which is good because I don't like when fights are nonsensical and just used for drama. They also have some elements which aren't addressed in game but could add an interesting angle, like difference in class/status.

𝐆𝐄𝐓 𝐓𝐎 𝐊𝐍𝐎𝐖 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐌𝐔𝐍
Tumblr media
name. cherub
pronouns. she/her
preference of communication. discord
name of muse(s). ryu
rp experience / how  long. a very, very long time. i've been on tumblr since 2012.
best experience. over the years i've had a lot of great experiences with other writers, i can't boil it down to just one. it's just a really fun time when i can chill and casually discuss with other writers.
fluff,  angst, or smut.
fluff: fluff is so fun to write! i enjoy soft and sweet interactions between characters, but i will confess that outside of drabbles, writing threads that are solely just .. fluff drains me (and maybe this is just an area of writing i need to work on better), but eventually i don’t know how else to progress the thread – especially if it's with characters that are meeting one another for the first time and i have no plot to refer back to. now .. fluff with some sort of deeper conversation, just two characters getting to know one another on an intimate level to build on their current relationship? i absolutely adore writing that!
angst: i relish in story-driven angst, so not necessarily angst for the sake of putting characters through pain, but for the development that comes with it and the eventual after. there’s something really enjoyable about writing a difficult, stressful situation between two characters and seeing how that shapes the overall dynamic between them. but i do .. prefer it to lead to something positive. writing never ending pain with a character that will always try to overcome that or find a way to deal with it just becomes so unvaried its tiring. BUT, writing angst with this notion of .. how will this character push past this and what will this do/better/worsen in their relationship? that's always fun for me!
smut: so i actually enjoy writing smut, i find it to be a neat challenge trying to balance introspection with the actual action and of course avoiding being repetitive/overly flowery. i don’t have a whole lot written on the blog to represent that, but the creative process is always fun when the opportunity arises. (i also am way too shy to directly ask someone if they’d like to write a romantic ship/assume no one would want to so .. that leaves minimal chance for it to happen in the first place lmfao!) personally, i have held back from writing it in the ways i’d prefer to out of fear of being too explicit. mainly because i feel like everyone has a threshold for how they’d prefer to digest reading about sex if that makes any sense. some people prefer poetic introspection that may not directly describe the act, whereas others enjoy it being crude. and i like to write a blend of both? so yeah.
plots or memes. i will 100% of the time prefer plots over memes if we don't have some sort of base to work off of. i know a lot of people don't enjoy plotting/have a difficult time with it and that's so valid. as long as i can ask you if it's ok to place our characters in xyz setting before i write a response then i'll be fine. but i just find the longevity of a thread and interactions to increase when i can refer back to a plot.
long or short replies.  either or. once upon a time all i wrote were long replies, but nowadays i just want to have fun and write what i can.
best time to write. whenever i can tbh. (always at the most inconvenient time) i used to say i can only write at night, but since i finished school i have had better success inspiring myself to write during the day. which is strange,
are you like your muse. i think it's natural to share some aspects with your muse. i'm not like her socially or physically at all, i do wish i related to the ability to say what you feel. being lighthearted and patient. growing up i loved the comic relief character that had a lot of darker things they harbored within them. i enjoyed the confident shoujo characters that owned themselves and loved it. and i unintentionally embodied a lot of that in her including things i wish i saw in myself.
not tagging or tagged by anyone. just take it if you wanna do it too.

Two things.
Number one, I'm here from your science party fic and oh my GOD? I adore how you wrote all of the mercs, especially Medic! He's a wonderful balance of silly, scary, and just...Generally unhinged. Wonderful. Amazing. Mwah. Thank you sm for feeding my science party brain.
Number two. I saw your ship post about them and the option to ask abt others. Taking you up on that,,,, what're the other tf2 ships you enjoy? Infodumping can get draining so dont sweat it if you dont want yk: I'm just curious!
!! Thank you so much!! I love writing all of the mercs so much,, and with Medic I put 110% of my effort and energy into  making him the manic and eccentric maniac that I know and love. What a little goofball. Same with the others. They're all so much fun to write with their wacky personalities and such. I'm glad I was able to give something to the other Science Party fans and make more propaganda for the ship. <3
Now for the ships. I've got a lot of neutral opinion, but I'll just ramble about some that I like quite a bit in particular, namely Red Oktoberfest, Sniper/Spy, Speeding Bullet, Napoleon Complex, Boots N' Bombs, etc. They're not going to be nearly as in-depth as with my Science Party ramble, but I just like em'.
Now, onto the others. I really like Red Oktoberfest. It's like Science Party, though I wouldn't say Heavy is nearly as unhinged as Engie. It's sweet and nice, but I prefer Science Party over it just because I prefer Medic and Engie's dynamic. Still really nice. I also love reading that one 13k word essay on Ao3 that goes into detail on all of the content on it every now and then.
Speeding Bullet is another one I like. I like the two of them just being together and goofing around. They truly are the ADHD vs Autism ship. I do like Sniper's more collected attitude and Scout's rambunctious behavior and the two of them butting heads. The ship also reminds me of how Sniper is only four years older than Scout, which is wild to me. I always think of him in his late thirties as opposed to being like...26 when he first meets the team.
In a similar vein, I like Sniper/Spy. I can see the two of them bickering with each other because of the other's lifestyle (Sniper throws jars at people and lives in a van while Spy is French), but overall having some sort of respect for each other because of their professionalism. They do care about each other, even if they don't like saying it.
Boots N' Bombs is a classic. I love how Valve just created an entire update and so much content for these two. They work really quite well together. It's amazing how well their personalities compliment each other and there's plenty of room for both humor and angst. They're really just neat.
Napoleon Complex is just neat. I like it. I find their personalities clash, but really match on another. Engie's laid-back and hardworking salt-of-the-earth nature and Spy's more up-tight and professional vibe is just nice.
Again, most of these I see as being platonic. I do like considering and watching others portray them as romantic, but I overall see them all as close friends. I've got a lot of writing ideas on all of those ships though.
Pyro I don't really ship with anybody mostly because I see them as That Guy. Not exactly a little sibling or somebody who can't feel love or show emotion, but I can't really...see them as ever being involved with anybody romantically. I am an unlabeled any-pronouns single Pyro fan. They just wanna be friends and have a tea party with the whole team.
But, now I suppose is the time where I let the two ships that've spawned from the depths of my psyche out onto the world. I should mention that I'm a delusional fanfic writer, meaning I that when I see a character, my first thought would be how they would react to another character. This is how you get rarepairs, folks.
With that being said, I like Merasmus & Medic and Pauling/Bronislava.
I'm not going to elaborate further.

3, 4, and 8?
3. How do each of you express affection?
Wrathion does grandiose gestures like gifting high quality things such as rare and beautiful crystals, the fancy expensive wine that comes in bottles not shaped like bottles, fresh crab (I go absolutely nuts for crab IRL that stuff is so delicious but expensive), and does love hugs, we always give him hugs when we leave somewhere, . Kalec likes saying compliments or simply stating observations he makes about us, He also sends mirror images when he's busy for surprise "I love you"s and smooches when we least expect it. I do random combos of words, things i make, things i find, and sooooo many cuddles. So many, cuddles and hugs and smooches.
4. Are there different dynamics in your ship? If so, what are they?
Ok so me and Kalec are an autism to autism romance like. WALL-E and EVA during that scene where EVA scans for a plant and WALL-E just shyly scuttles around following them and gets buried in shopping carts and then WALL-E shows them their human stuff. When they give EVA the rubix-cube and turn around to grab the lightbulb and return to it solved and go "Woah!" and hand them the bulb to look at it and the bulb glows in EVA'S hand and then they both go "woah" and mess with it? That exact scene is so us. So many cool and beautiful things in the world to understand.. I can't use magic very well if at all and am at a lot of disadvantages with arcane stuff and Kalec will cast a spell for me so I can see what it's supposed to look like and I can try to copy it. I sometimes go extra slow to see him do it again just to see him in the light of his spells..
Kalec and Wrathy are opposites but also the same in a way..? They both deeply care about keeping the world safe and rising above their predecessors shadows to pave a better path for their kind, they both see mortals as equals unlike most dragons and enjoy living among them. They are so balanced together it's amazing, they bring out the best in each other and have such a deep understanding of what the other has been though and what they want and their fears and to try and put it into a sentence: They're like 2 sides of the same coin.
Me and Wrathy are more of a fiery/ sassy but also sad duo and both tend to dig our claws into the other 2 sometimes because we're so afraid to lose them so we are very clingy and easily stressed. We understand what it's like to be considered an abomination of nature to the world and "lesser" than others, so we make sure to show the other we love them constantly which does sometimes turn into annoying PDA that Wrathion does love because he likes showing me off like “Look at how sweet and pretty my girlfriend is, this is mine and our boyfriend’s and you can’t have any! You missed out!” And I’m just thinking “OUGHHHHOHOHO WHEEEE I PULLED HIM!! wait we’re in the middle of the market”
8. Is there any clothing sharing? Does one partner “steal” clothes from the others?
OK so firstly I think visage clothes are like. magic so you can take them off and away from the dragon and they can just magic it back if they lost it or just make a new one like *poof* and its the exact same. BUT to answer the question that would be me 90% of the time `(^ᴗ^)´. I'll steal their overcoats and wear them on me as robes with the sleeves rolled up or like cloaks around my neck or waist since they're both bigger than me tho Kalec is quite a bit bigger. I'll steal Wrathion's earrings, gloves, his necklace on a few occasions, and I'll steal Kalecs belt bc that thing looks like a giant marble and i just know it's got some great stimmy texture and sounds. They usually only steal my scrunchies and wear them as bracelets or use them to tie their hair up and it makes me go (。♡ʊ♡。)

Predictably asking for Symphonia for the fandom meme!
I stan. 🙏
the first character i ever fell in love with: Raine. Even as a teenager she was my favorite and I loved her immediately.
a character that i used to love/like, but now do not: I actually think I used to really like Zelos and found him hilarious when I was a teenager myself, and now I'm like 😨 about half of what he does and says. Yikes, bro. It actually makes me wonder how differently he would be written if the game was coming out for the first time now, because a lot of the stuff in the game just would NEVER fly these days.
a ship that i used to love/like, but now do not: Ah. Behold, my personal cringe: I used to ship Kratos/Raine. It didn't last very long because my fellow shippers in 2004 made me abandon ship entirely & do a heelturn toward my current OTP out of pure spite. If I'm being honest I was only shipping it because they were the only two adults in the party for a while, anyway, so it wasn't a serious attachment. 🙄 But like, it should be noted that this happened while I was in the middle of writing a love triangle fic. (My other personal cringe, shh.)
my ultimate favorite character™: RAINE, MY BELOVED. 🤍 I literally love every single thing about her.
prettiest character: You thought I was going to say Raine didn't you? WRONG. It's Yuan, actually. Look at him.
my most hated character: RODYLE. He's just so hateful.
my OTP: Regal/Raine. I will die on this hill, actually. (And have been quietly since late 2004.) This is the only ship I just won't compromise on. What can I say about it? Their dynamic just hits on a lot of notes that work exceedingly well for me personally. I won't write a manifesto here (you may thank me for holding back for your benefit) but I love both of them so much and think their personalities balance one another out incredibly well, which is a lot of fun to write.
my NOTP: Basically any Raine ship that isn't my OTP is a NOTP for me, though I do have two in particular I would consider NOTPs. IYKYK.
favorite episode skit: The My Sister skit. IT GETS ME EVERY TIME.
saddest death: Marble. SHE'S AN OLD WOMAN. PLEASE.
favorite season side plot/scene: Virginia, honestly. It messes me up every time. The doll haunts me to this day. Also, that they so INTENTIONALLY made Raine look exactly like her. Poor Raine just can't escape. And the trauma?? AHHHH.
least favorite season side plot/scene: That buffoonish Peeping Tom thing at the hot springs. I wanted more meaningful conversation with my girls and I had to deal with that instead. NO WAIT I HATE THE SCENE IN SYBAK LOOKING FOR THE LITTLE BOY'S MOM SO MUCH MORE. ZELOS'S BOOTSTRAPS SPEECH WAS THE WORST THING I HAVE EVER HAD THE MISFORTUNE OF READING, not because it wasn't 100% in character for him (HILARIOUSLY IT IS VERY IN CHARACTER 🤣) but because I feel like nobody else in the scene was written in a believable way—not Regal, not Colette, and not Lloyd. WTF WAS THAT SCENE?
character that everyone else in the fandom loves, but i hate am lukewarm about: Hate is a strong word here so I toned it down. I feel very lukewarm about Kratos. In fact, I'd go so far as to say his potential was a bit wasted just because they didn't bother to do enough with him.
my ‘you’re a piece of trash, but you’re still a fave well-liked’ fave: This is a hard one, because the trash characters are still trash to me. I'll maybe go with Kate or George for this. They both did terrible things but I still find them interesting and compelling as characters.
my ‘beautiful cinnamon roll who deserves better than this’ fave: Colette, always. Also? Presea.
my ‘this ship is wrong, nasty, and makes me want to cleanse my soul, but i still love it’ ship: I don't have one because you'll never see me shipping something like this. It's not my cuppa.
my ‘they’re kind of cute, and i lowkey ship them, but i’m not too invested’ ship: This is a hard one. Maybe Genis/Presea for this? I think they are good for one another but they're both too young BY A LOT to really be thinking that deeply about things. However, their respect for one another and their compassion/understanding of what the other has been through could lead to something nice later in life. I'm not over those adorable skits where Genis asks for advice from others on what present to get for her and they all collectively give him the worst advice imaginable and he ends up buying her a whetstone because he KNOWS HER AS A PERSON and she LOVES THE GIFT. This is what peak performance looks like in a person, actually.
Thanks! ♥

I adore ur fanfics but this is not gonna be about gaalee
Since u tend to put nejiten, kakagai, shikatema and kankiba could u please talk about why u like them?? Im curious but also adore hoe u talk about stuff!!
Hmmm. OK I'll start with KakaGai since they're probably my 2TP (is that a thing? The Naruto ship I love the most 2nd to GaaLee of course.)
Anyway, there's nothing about KakaGai that has me convinced they're anything less than canonically married. Like, from the moment Gai called Kakashi his man of destiny, they've been joined at the hip. Gai has been there for Kakashi through every loss, every trauma, just this consistent presence in the background. When he offered to basically sacrifice himself into ANBU because he saw Kakashi being swallowed by the darkness, my heart cried for both of them. And that's not to say that it's one sided! Kakashi was there to defend Gai when his father was attacked. He said he would have given up *anything* to heal Gai's leg. He's gone from finding Gai a nuisance to acknowledging him as a true rival, someone who he fights back to back with. They know each other so intimately, I can't see their relationship as anything but canon.
NejiTen and ShikaTema are about the only het ships I can tolerate in Naruto (except for ChouIno but nobody ever writes them). I think they're both good balances, personality wise.
Neji needs someone to soften him up a bit while not letting on he's being softened up, and Tenten’s combination of brashness and affection is perfect for that. He needs to be able to let loose and be silly, and Tenten can bring that, since she plays a great straight man to her teammates' lunacy. And as we've seen in canon (well, filler), Tenten struggles with not being the way a kunoichi "should" be, and I think Neji, who--if he had been given the chance to mature--likely would have bucked tradition, is exactly the sort of person to accept her for who she is, to help her develop her strengths, and (crucially) to happily listen while she rants for hours about ninja tools.
ShikaTema have a similarly complimentary dynamics. Temari is one of the few kunoichi who I think wouldn't tolerate any of his bullshit (we're ignoring Boruto here because FUCK Temari being a housewife like ... who *is* that??) In my mind, Shikamaru is a devoted househusband and they split their time between Suna and Konoha, because neither's job is more important. Plus they're just the endgame ship with the most development in canon - there's a clear mutual respect and attraction from the beginning, and Temari was literally like "Hey if we go to this hot spring I'm not gonna be able to resist throwing myself at you" and tbh I love a forward woman who knows what she wants (i.e. that D).
Aaaand that brings us to KanKiba. Frankly I just think they're a hilarious chaos couple. Like they're just a couple of dirty, grungy guys with arrested development and mommy/daddy issues. Their entire dynamic in my mind is a hilarious dance of "if the balls don't touch its not gay" and neither of them washing their asses.

Okay, I'll make a post ( I’d rather divide it into volumes, cause it would be long post ). Also there will be many ( and I mean MANY ) references to other movies and books.
VOL. 1 Ladies and Gentlemen, meet the magnificent Elsa ( Elsa Rohanne ) Sparda, Vergil's wife and concurrently my vision of Nero's mom. I decided to make her the same half-demon as Dante and Vergil, but in her case it turned out the opposite: her mother was a demoness and her father was a human.
Background story: Her mother, Rohanne, was one of Sparda's old friends among the demons ( if not one of the few ). She was an aquatic demon to be more specific ( her strength, power and abilities were strongly connected with the element of water ). After the uprising of Sparda, she, like him, settled on earth and built her own paradise ( no matter how ironic it may sound ). Her husband, Phillip, also shared her love of water and often liked to travel by water and was also a businessman who owned oceanariums ( for let's be honest, demons are proud and self-loving creatures by nature, if they have condescended to such a thing as marriage with a human, if they connect their lives with one, they obviously don't take simple ones ). He was inspired by Corlys Velaryon from asoiaf. And then a daughter was born, a complete copy of her mother, in demonic nature and beauty. She and Sparda were family-friends and, accordingly, Vergil and Dante knew Elsa since very childhood. By nature, Elsa was like the element she absorbed with her mother's milk: calm, balanced and fluid, but also loud, raw and fierce as a sea storm. She also was extremely sassy, witty and defiant ( And who do you think Nero inherited his rebellious spirit from ? Not from Verg, for sure ) and if they got along with Dante right away due to his friendly, light-hearted personality, then with Vergil, the dynamics of the relationship at first resembled Derek and Odette from The Swan Princess. Gradually, they warmed to each other more and more on the common interests of literature ( especially poems ) , history, philosophy, music and art ( including art of war and training ), learning new things about each other and telling each other about what they loved most which she unfortunately could not share with Dante since he was indifferent to all of it. Tables turned and soon they were inseparable, like two shards of precious gem glued together. It was noticeable to adults as well. Rohanne and Sparda seeing their relationship already started ship them and picturing their future, with two remaining demon bloodlines united as one cause demon blood must stick together. But then, you know what happened: Sparda and Rohanne fought and probably died, one demon horde came to the Sparda mansion and second to the Rohanne mansion and if Sparda’s fell, the Rohanne mansion stood until the very end and eventually withstood cause it was beforehand casted a lot of protection spells in case any unwanted guests would make a visit in her house. Before battle Rohanne left Phill and Elsa in there, exchanged the last kiss and embrace with her precious ones — her family and left. She was dying in utter joy and peace cause she protected them, she succeeded and that’s meant that she will remain her legacy in her daughter, her line won’t die out but prosper further and further generations and she was happy to know that today she dies with a hope and calm in her black devil heart, as black as the very depth of the ocean. Elsa since that very day started to be even more concentrated, stern, studious and merciless to herself in her training with weapons and her abilities. Her father taught her how to find her way out by the stars, navigating her in many things. Soon she became the most dreadful opponent to her enemies who caused her mother’s death and to all demons who will ever do harm her or most importantly — her family and loved ones. She eventually found her mother’s most sacred and treasured thing besides her own daughter — Rohanne’s sword that can transform into trident which would multiply her daughters might even more than she already possess. It was Rohanne’s last gift to her child besides her three-dolphined pendant that she gifted Elsa on her 6 birthday. Her grief was long and dark until day when she found out that Dante and Vergil are alive. Especially Vergil. With a new information she packed her belongings and left Redgrave on her new mission: to find her best childhood friend ( friend ?).

MY problem w JayKyle is that all the fics for it are fluffy and sweet and already established relationship, little to no real conflict or personality clashes, watered down personalities, etc etc which I just find really weird for a pairing made up of two guys who in the one book they showed up in together really did not get along at all??? Like I definitely think there’s an interesting story that could be told with their actual personalities and morals and views and stuff like that, but it’s just not a story I’ve ever seen anyone actually write. Sometimes you’ll come across a fic that makes you ardently ship a pairing you’d never really thought about before or that you know you wouldn’t ship in canon but the fic is so good and somehow still in character that you change your mind, and I love those kinds of fics but I just haven’t found any like that for JayKyle! And it disappoints me
This is my issue with Jaykyle too, tbh. I know I ship it in a very different way from how most people ship it. And I mean, I do get why - most of the people shipping Jaykyle are coming from the Jason side, and they want to pair him with someone who will be soft and sweet with him. And Kyle does seem like a good candidate for that, because he is soft and sweet and one of the most normal people in the superhero biz. A lot of the people who ship it haven't even read countdown, they get the dynamic straight from the already existing Jaykyle fandom, and if you just look at their personalities and smush them together without paying attention/giving a shit about their canon dynamic, it's easy to see how they'd arrive at jaykyle being fluffy and soft.
And considering they've only had one run together in canon in a storyline that's notoriously confusing, with a lot of people regarding the characters in it to be ooc, I can't really blame the people who toss it into the dumpster and just do what they want lol. I haven't read Countdown, either, I just prefer the fighty dynamics so I keep it.
WITH THAT OUT OF THE WAY I understand you COMPLETELY. I know I said Kyle is soft and sweet but that's like... next to Hal and Guy and John (who is not an asshole like the other two, but he can be stoic), and that's not a high bar to cross lol. He can be sweet, but he also speaks before his brain catches up with his mouth and he can be dismissive and selfish, caught up within his own problems. And without someone more abrasive that he has to keep on a leash, Kyle himself can be pretty abrasive and short-tempered. He doesn't like feeling left out. He likes being the centre of attention. He has sooo many issues of his own, but most jaykyle fic, if they explore any issues, only explore Jason's side of things. And I'm always up for dissecting Jason's issues, but sometimes I do wish it was more balanced.
I think it's just... most of the people who ship jaykyle know Jason very, very well, but they aren't as familiar with Kyle. And I get it; Jason has more fans, and he has a smaller body of work so those who do like taking inspiration from the comics don't have as much Stuff to sort through. And a biiig chunk of Jason's fanbase don't even come from the comics at all, but Kyle's fans are more of a stickler to canon because he doesn't have enough fanworks for a self-sustaining population, unlike the batfam. Meanwhile I come from more of the lantern side rather than the bat side, and it's unfortunate but most of the works are just not made for me 😔
I was about to put more petty grumblings under the cut but I think I'll just put them in a reply to this post. Hang onto your hats, I'm not done

I don't like Amy and I don't like her ending up with Laurie guy. I mean, they're not really in love, she's just a replacement. But this is not a sassy thing, can I ask what you like about her/them? I see you talk a very lot about her/them and I'm a curious man!!!!!!!!!
Am I being annoying or a burden if I ask you to let me see your point? Maybe I just must look at things on another pov.
I'm anonymous cause you could think ew, a man liking Little Women concept...
Hey!!!!! I actually recognize my own way of thinking here, not when it comes to your opinion on the matter, but the approach taken. I tend to consider all the options before "closing the case" too so the answer is no. You are definitely not being annoying! And before I start rambling, I need to address the last paragraph of your ask aka 🧙‍♀️I NEED TO YELL AT YOU🧙‍♀️!!!!!! Because!!!!! Little Women is a lot about gender and how it's perceived, I spend most of my time here talking (💫screaming💫) about that particular aspect of the story hence there's no reason at all to judge you or anything like that? In case you're saying that in wish to manipulate me into liking you despite disagreeing with your initial statement: smart move.
If you know anything about my blog you'd know that I'm not that attached to the romance of shipping. I appreciate the beauty of a fictional dynamic regardless of the label anybody might put on it. The concepts of endgame and shipping in a classic sense are pretty irrelevant to me, I just need "my ships" to be a hundred bus stops away from boring and I'm hooked. That's how I feel about Amy and Laurie, I just don't care about romance of it that much. What does fascinate me about their relationship is how perfectly balanced it is? I always say that Jo, Amy and Laurie, at their centre, are incredibly similar people who aren't too fond of... well, being similar to each other. (which has a lot to do with the ambitious streak each of them has, though it manifests in a different way with all of them) Jo and Laurie shared similarities that led them to finding comfort and understanding in another human being which is such a big and important thing that meant an insane amount to both of them in an otherwise much darker adolescence. Jo and Amy share similarities that make them clash and Amy and Laurie... they aren't afraid to call each other out on their nonsense and are just as ready to point out the other's strong suits. They inspired each other!!!! Like... look at how open this conversation is:
Tumblr media
Amy doesn't want the facade Laurie puts up for the world, she wants Laurie as chaotic and messy as he is! They've both seen the raw, unfiltered version of the other and loved each other in the face of all that messiness + both changed for the better. That's love! It also helps that they're such hopeless romantics at heart which allows them to be all extravagant and bubbly about it and not feel like they're "too much". (look at this they are. so gross.) As for Amy, I LOVE her. The funny bit with Jo is, she thinks she's a realist but she's actually a cynic, while Amy understands and sees the world for what it is (Jo is more focused on what it could be and what it isn't), faults and all and loves it. Here are some posts and writings I posted that express my thoughts on Amy more clearly because I think I'll lose my train of thought if I go any further with this:
Jo March & Amy March parallels
Amy March & Rory Gilmore parallels + magic from my side blog (I think this really captures the central reason why I gravitate towards this character trope (Rory Gilmore, Amy March and Lisa Cuddy come to mind immediately)"the world is hard on ambitious girls" summarises it quite well, to quote Amy herself)
my writing that's more of an analysis than a fanfic:
quick to see and feel beauty of any kind (a little exploration of Amy/Laurie, Amy centric with flickers of Jo/Laurie and Amy/Laurie, it's how Laurie's hopeful and dream-like notions inspire Amy's more grounded ones and vice versa)
flickers of light (in which I tackle Amy's artistic struggles in detail)

Kuroko no Basketball Review!
Today is anime review time, and we have a great one today: Kuroko's Basketball! Some of you might know that I played ten years of basketball before an infamous c-virus struck, so this was an anime I was really looking forward to watching. And to put it simply, it didn't disappoint.
Kuroko's Basketball is composed of three seasons of twenty-five episodes each (not counting the OVAs, which are definitely worth watching), plus a 90 minute-long movie. I'll go into more detail later, but what's remarkable about this anime is that it constantly gets better. It starts off really good and it ends up being absolutely incredible.
Season one introduces most of the main cast, and as you'll see in the character tierlist below, they're almost all either good or great. Some dynamics begin to take shape between the different players and teams, and you're left waiting for more.
I found season two to be way more focused on character development. The remaining main characters are introduced and the main dynamics from the first season are deepened. Talking about dynamics, new rivalries are introduced in season two and give the deuteragonist most of his development. In my opinion, season two is slightly better than season one thanks to its more intense games and amazing rivalries. Also, it's important to note that this anime excels in creating assholes that make the "good guys" appear much better. It makes it clear that these "good guys" are rivals, not enemies.
Season three starts off by giving wonderful development to one of my favorites. Then, the next two games are definitely two of the best in the three seasons combined. It's a joy to see the main characters have fun and give it everything they have. Also, one of the strengths of this third season is its flashback arc, which is done masterfully well. It leads up to an incredible final game that concludes the anime nicely...
But there's more, actually: the movie. To put it in only a few words, it's the perfect combination of fanservice and character development. You can feel they made this sequel to please the fans, but they did it well. The movie's animation is stunning (not Demon Slayer level, of course, but still very pretty), the content is entertaining, and the ending is emotional. This, concludes the anime nicely. You're left to make many theories about what happens next, and while you're sad that it ended, you're also glad that it happened.
The games are all entertaining and intense, every player gets his chance to shine (sometimes multiple times), and the writers found a good balance between realism and entertainment. This anime's main strength is how good its main cast is and how excellent its dynamics are. It also has a nice touch of humor that will sometimes catch you off-guard and make you laugh a lot.
Overall, this anime is definitely worth watching, especially if you play(ed) any sports. You'll find the competitiveness that justifies going through countless hours of practice. You'll also find yourself attached to the characters' antics. I know I did, haha.
Just below are the tierlists for this anime! One for characters and one for ships!

BACK AT IT AGAIN AT KRISPY KREME
sometimes you disappear for 50 years from the anon zone and come back with a bunch of wlw rarepairs. yknow. for funsies.
-Does Soniaki even count at this point? Who can say but I love them. Sometimes it can just be two very kind and lovely people who just want to help others finding comfort in each other in ways they only hoped they could. Sometimes it can be two cinnamon rolls finding each other and they both can kill you in their own special ways.
-Fukagiri also gets a mention again because I am starved for content and am ready to add another post to the tag. They're survivor girlfriends. They're opposites attract. They're purple. It's the full package. It's about a struggle for understanding, about not knowing why this person who you're so put off and annoyed by occupies to much space in your mind. From a Toko perspective it's kinda deconstructing her romantic fantasies by giving her the kind of partner she wants-smart, aloof, emotionally unavailable, difficult- and her needing to consider what she wants out of it, recognizing that not everything either of them do to upset the other is made ok just because "it's love", and working with Kyoko to make things work. LISTEN IT'S JUST ABOUT PEOPLE FINDING EACH OTHER WHEN THEY NEVER WOULD'VE THOUGHT THEYD HAVE THE CHANCE OR DESERVED LOVE OR NEEDED IT.
-Anyways back to more guys consider Mahiru/Ibuki. Shoutout to the time that Ibuki was ready to ditch all her plans with the other gals to make sure Mahiru was doing ok. It very much is like a tired straightman and energetic goofball dynamic but also Ibuki is able to be much more serious than anybody tends to give her credit for, and tends to have a lot better timing when it comes to giving advice and encouragement. Meanwhile Mahiru lowkey has got a temper on her and can be a lot more brash and blunt when it comes to social interaction. They both reign each other in their own special ways and they also kiss.
-Tenkaemaki is goin here because even though none of the individual ships are rarepairs it's ployam content AND wlw content that's lacking. I just think all of them have 2 hands and they're in a little cuddle pile all together and they all kiss each other. They all have their own ways of balancing each other out, they all can kick ass, at any time there's either 20 braincells or 0 braincells between all of them. Just think about it.
-Tsumugi/Angie. Shironaga? They're kinda morally dubious art girlfriends. Bonus points if it's like. A non-despair or post-canon it was VR kinda au where they're both coming to terms with who they are as people and trying to reconcile what they want with trying to improve themselves and just walking along the path of betterment and self-discovery hand in hand.
-Celesaya. Is this a rarepair? It's not a Super Popular wlw ship so I'm counting it because sometimes that's just how it be for the lesbians. It's kiiinda in line with Shironaga but I don't really see Sayaka as a bad person in any sense so not quite. It's mostly just about learning to let your guard down around someone. Dropping the mask, even if just for a moment, and allowing yourself to be the truest version of yourself you can be for just one person. It's growing comfortable with the real you because the one you love loves that version more than any persona. It's about learning that maybe, just maybe, if the most important person loves you the way you are, maybe others will too.
-Mistue/me,,,,,,, is that legal who can say? I'm just a gay person and I'm in love with her.
Let's go lesbians.
LETS GO LESBIANS
sigh i'll always love soniaki. they're just so loving and sweet and tender and cute and dont think abt the fact that chiaki is canonically dead and sonia's watched her die two different times
i gotta commend u for spearheading the fukagiri ship, you've rly got me thinkin ngl.... they've lived through insurmountable trauma... separately and together.... they understand each other more than they realize... they care about each other more than they realize...
omg omg omg ibuki and mahiru omg omg omg the sparatic and obnoxious and brash classmate + the short-tempered, straightedge classmate...... im a sucker for this dynamic aksfjghsdg
tenko + maki + kaede yes pls. tenko deserves two gfs. maki deserves two balls of sunshine. kaede deserves two gfs that will protect her with their lives
