You find yourself at my door, just like all those times before, you wear your best apology, but I was there to watch you leave...

Nothing could match the amount of pain, happiness, and raw emotion I would feel if Mike has a realization scene and then it shows a whole slideshow of their moments, but there's not only the one's WE SAW on screen, but the ones that happened off screen. Like them hanging out alone together at the Byers' listening to Will's mixtapes, or just the two of them in Mike's basement watching TV while cuddled up on the couch. And the infamous "You said yes. You said yes." scene following with a flashback to baby byler in kindergarten on the swingset and Mike shyly asking Will if he wanted to be friends with Will shouting enthusiastically "yes!!"
Mike being overwhelmed with emotions and saying outloud to himself: “It still is the best thing I've ever done. Always will be..” as a tear falls down his cheek mimicking the scene in s2

[ FINAL ]: a letter written in the aftermath of the recipient’s death, where the writer knows they’ll never get the chance to read it. / hehe ysayle
My dearest departed friend,
I write to you with a heavy heart, knowing that you cannot read these words nor hear my voice. Yet, I feel compelled to speak to you as if you were still here, for the news that I have to share is too important to go unheard.
The land is at peace, Ysayle. The vision that you and yours so bravely fought and died for has finally been realized. Man and dragonkind now live together in harmony, side by side, sharing the earth and aught else it has to offer. The prejudice and wars of the past have been buried slowly, like old bones of a forgotten era. Ere we celebrate days where the lies no longer hold us in our necks. I'd like to think that you and Saint Shiva would find joy in how much has been changed, I only wish that it did not come to this point at all, that the peace had not been paid in the price of blood.
You would be proud to know that your sacrifice was not in vain. The world that you envisioned, where all could live without fear or persecution, is now a reality. Your legacy lives on, and the world is a better place than when you first saw it because of your unwavering determination to make it so.
There is a child, a young girl that I hold with such fondness, who almost lost control of herself when I told her the story of your bravery and love for the world. Thank the gods, we were able to save her in time before another life was lost. She possesses the same amount of courage and love for the world as you did, my friend. I like to think that you would have favored her, that you would have seen a kindred spirit in her.
I miss you dearly, more than I could admit. There is not a day that goes by where I do not think of you and the impact that you had. Your memory lives on, and your spirit is felt in the hearts of all who knew you.
Until we meet again, my friend, may the winds guide you and the earth embrace you.
Yours forevermore,
Warrior of Light

I just read that the brain can't tell the difference when someone is a fictional character or actually a real person. And that's the reason we get so attached to fictional characters cause our brains react the same way they would if it was an actual human being. So out brains think we've known these people for much longer than a few days or hour, and treats them like we've known them our whole lives. That's why we cry when our favorite characters die, or why we experience such second hand embarrassment from other characters. Our brains see the as real people so the death is treated like you lost someone close to you and the embarrassment is treat as if your friend was telling you what happened.
