I can't keep up with updating my kinktober prompts on a daily basis (I'm honestly amazed I've managed to keep up with the writing as well as I have and I've only been doing this for a few days) So for now, please find them with the tag #rfh kinktober and when the month is over I'll make a masterlist. [NEW all month] based on @flightlessangelwings’ Kinktober 2023 Prompt List
[complete works behind the cut ♡]
spoilers: I have a preferred trope/formula that I lean into quite hard (girl falls first; raccoon falls harder) and while I do really love tragic fanfic, I firmly believe rocket's suffered enough of that so it's only happy endings here (even if it takes a minute to get there). Well, more or less, anyway.
Domestic Scenes in Space Travel
reader x rocket fluff, medium-burn?? (at least for Part One), smut. comics-based but you don't need any comics background knowledge to read this - you just need to enjoy fluff + smut + rocket (and be 18 i guess). multiple parts. see notes for summary + warnings.
The Very Boring Adventures of Space Pilot & Sweatshirt Girl Part One of Domestic Scenes in Space Travel [COMPLETE 5/5 chapters] Summary: In Rocket Raccoon: Grounded (2016) / Issue #3, Rocket asks a stranger on the ferry to "make sure nobody does anything weird" to him while he naps, and the stranger just, like, abandons him while he's sleeping?? get in loser we're gonna fix it Chapter One (The First Visit) Chapter Two (The Second Visit) Chapter Three (The Third Visit) Chapter Four (The Fourth Visit) Chapter Five (The Fifth Visit) complete post - The Very Boring Adventures of Space Pilot & Sweatshirt Girl
Outer Space Safety & Spaceship Maintenance Training (Ninth Visit) Part Two of Domestic Scenes in Space Travel [Oneshot. COMPLETE 8/21] Sequel to The Very Boring Adventures of Space Pilot & Sweatshirt Girl [domestic fluff, dirty talk, oral sex - mind the ao3 tags.] Summary: Study Night. or - why study when you can seduce your hot local Space Pilot into oral? When you were a kid, you imagined yourself growing up, working a cool job, living in a cute house, getting a big dog, marrying, and having kids of your own. You've currently got none of those things, but you are getting regularly railed by a raccoon-shaped cosmic adventurer, and he's currently showing you around his spaceship. Which is kinda better than anything you could have dreamed up for yourself. [comics-inspired, though i'm fucking around with timelines/continuity and you really don't need any comics-context to ride this ride] complete post - Outer Space Safety & Spaceship Maintenance Training
Reconnaissance for Beginners: An Instruction Manual (Fourteenth Visit) Part Three of Domestic Scenes in Space Travel [Oneshot. COMPLETE 9/18] [domestic fluff, dirty talk, orgasm delay, bf/gf silliness. - mind the ao3 tags.] Summary: Date Night. in a gesture of true romance, rocket takes you to a dive bar. of all the stories he's shared with you, his favorites are the ones where he gets saved by the space princess. not that he'd tell you that. ˖⁺。˚⋆˙✧⋆。°✩☼⋆。°✩☽︎ loosely based on Rocket (2017): The Blue River Score. domestic bf/gf silliness & fluff. extensive smut. comics-knowledge isn't needed but HIGHLY recommend starting at the beginning of this collection for context (The Very Boring Adventures of Space Pilot & Sweatshirt Girl).
florescence ❀ (a meetgroot)
[WIP: Year 0/5] [mcu-based, slight au, medium-burn, eventual smut circa chapter four. tentative allies to friends to lovers. the middle is angsty but there are only happy endings here. no use of y/n.] Summary: “The only chance we got is to get to the other side of the universe as fast as we can and maybe, just maybe, we'll be able to live full lives before that whack-job ever gets there.” Rocket & Groot leave their friends behind on Knowhere, despite the latter’s protests, and end up hiding out on a nothing-planet (with a non-extradition policy) at the edge of the Shi’ar Galaxy. It was the flowers that drew you in.
Chapter 1/6 Year Zero: Seed [NEW posted 9/24]
Blackmail Material
[WIP: Chapter 2/4] reader x rocket pwp with feelings; smut & fluff & love confessions. MCU-based, post-Endgame, friends-to-lovers. Summary: a classic tale of "this fuckin raccoon found your sex-toy." as per usual: girl falls first; raccoon falls harder. see notes for summary + warnings.
Chapter One: Blackmail Material Chapter Two: Self-Sufficience [NEW posted 8/29] Chapter Three: Firearms over Flowers ???
Window Across the Galaxy
[WIP: Chapter 15/25+] [NEW chapter posted 10/5] rocket x oc angst/hurt/comfort; slow burn + eventual smut with feelings. MCU-based. slight AU starting pre-GOTG volume 1. enemies to friends to lovers but only one of these idiots thinks they're enemies. see notes for summary + warnings. could become 1 part of a 2-part series, if I have the energy/inspiration. Summary: Rocket is captured by a Ravager crew hoping to get rich off the excessively large bounty on his head. Throwing a wrench in everyone’s plans is the Terran girl they hired to do some freelance assessing on a recent haul of goods they’ve seized from a Xandaran luxury liner. Oops.
Chapter I. A Delicacy. in which our reluctant heroes meet atop a crate of Sovereign porn in the bowels of a Ravager ship. Chapter II. Monster For A Pet. in which one hero wrestles with his inner Groot, and the other is quite possibly a moron. Chapter III. A Kindness.in which Rocket gets in his own damn way: not for the first time, and certainly not for the last. Chapter IV. Got There First. in which our heroes obtain an arsenal and street food. Chapter V. Things No-One Has Said Before. in which one hero refuses to babysit and the other refuses to leave. Chapter VI. Two and a Half Billion Units. in which we lean into the “they were roommates” trope. Jolie has misgivings, while Rocket has fantasies - about getting rich, of course. Chapter VII. I'm Here.in which we visit Knowhere. Chapter VIII. The Care & Feeding of Human Pets.in which our heroes practice breathing and we lean into a new trope: “there was (technically) one bed.” Chapter IX. Scrapmetal and a Dream. in which we redefine homemaking. Chapter X. Thin Fucking Ice. in which our heroes get fucked. Not in the good way. Chapter XI. Let It Be. in which Xandar is saved and good lives are lost. Chapter XII. So Much It Hurts. in which we try not to fuck up the vibes. Chapter XIII. Don’t Wait. in which a lost sister is found and Drax grapples with the concept of sarcasm. Chapter XIV. Exactly Like a Flower. in which comfort is shared. Chapter XV. Galaxy-Breaking Shit. in which more comfort is shared, and life is good. Briefly. [WIP 10/5]
Autopilot Systems Check [Oneshot. COMPLETE 9/3/2023] Est Word Count: 1409 reader x rocket soft fluff & domestica. MCU-based, post-Endgame i guess. Summary: reader wakes up in the middle of the night and rocket is nowhere to be found. drabble based on this post/inadvertent prompt.[complete post - Autopilot Systems Check]
Kinktober 2023
based on day 8 of @flightlessangelwings’ Kinktober 2023 Prompt List Kinktober Day 8: Turbulence. rocket needs you to hold. flarkin. still. [NEW 10/8]
Other Duties As Assigned
[WIP: ???] rocket x oc email romance/LDR (lol); slow burn + probable smut with feelings. Begins five months after The Snap. I don't have an intended outcome for this fic yet (just kind of rambling around) so this has the most uncertain publishing date. Summary: Natasha Romanoff is an administrative nightmare - a fact that does not go unnoticed by the (interim) captain of the Milano. First she demands that the remaining two Guardians of the Galaxy be reachable via a primitive Terran messaging system, and then she can't be bothered to read the frickin' emails. Thank fuck she's hired a new assistant.
Headcannons & Drabbles headcanon 1 - rocket & sex work headcanon 2 - rocket & occassional post-sex feelings headcanon 3 - quill & innocence/optimism headcanon 4 (minific/drabble) - rocket & nebula (2014) in endgame/post time-heist headcanon 5 (minific/drabble) - rocket & quill were scooped at the same time headcanon 6 - cinnamon roll peter quill continued headcanon 7 - rocket & nova corps headcanon 8 - rocket, lylla, & drax [NEW posted 9/17] headcanon 9 - dad glasses [NEW posted 9/21]
Fan Art of Your Amazing OCs (and maybe sometimes mine)
Rose (@love-for-faeries-go-burrrr ) & Moon (@glow-autumz) Thank you for letting me draw these two lovelies. You know I headcanon them as interdimensional besties ♡
Brita (@pretty-chips) is such a pure, delightfully fun character with record-store-clerk vibes. Thank you for letting me draw her. She is a glowing sunbeam-soul. ♡ another Brita wearing a terran t-shirt gifted to her by my oc, Jolie Spinner
Moon (@glow-autumz) Thank you again for letting me illustrate some of Moon's rad powers. i am OBSESSED. I appreciate so much you bringing her to life!
Chérie (Cherry) (@aliasrocket) I have a crush. 10/10 would attempt to flirt with (badly). Thank you so much for creating her and letting me doodle her!
Jolie (Window Across the Galaxy) - my gremlin child. just some scritchy-scratchy character concepts. feel free not to look if you want to imagine Jo in your own way. ♡ the "real" Jolie doodle - refined, finished, && in color
Fleuret (I think?) (@elegant-fleuret) is my personal caffeine deity. i now pray to her for the ability to scrap myself out of bed and deliverance from coffee crashes. she is also the dj of knowhere which is possibly the coolest fucking job in the universe and i would like to be her friend.
Star (@cleo-is-babygirl) is a pure fluffy little sundrop and a brilliant self-taught medic/surgeon. she is also the first tanuki/anthropomorphic animal i have drawn other than rocket so i was very nervous but i did my best. thank you for letting me try something new and expand my experience, friend!
Juno (@lazarel-3000) is one of my favorite OCs ever. she is everything. i want to be her && i want to date her (unfortunately she only has eyes for rocket).

I've only found out about you recently (since I'm pretty new to Tumblr) and I am obsessed with your writing style and creativity!! I've been a writer for a while, writing one shots, fics and headcanons on wattpad and in my notebooks ever since I was like 10 and also writing my own book (WIP) so recently I wanted to try Tumblr, too! And I think it's more fun than wattpad and journals, tbh.
Truth is, I've been in some sort of writing slump (which happens every single time my works don't get acknowledged, I get in a new fandom or feel kinda stressed with home life - now being a mix of all three), and I just wanted to ask you the following questions:
Do you have a certain request you've wanted to make towards a writing creator on Tumblr/idea you've wanted to write yourself that you can give up on and share for me to get back on track? You seriously don't have to, I'm just looking for something to write myself. (You can check out the only thing I have posted right now- just to maybe get a feel of my writing style? I write anything but smut).
Anyway, thanks for reading. Seriously, I love your writing!
Claire <3
Oooooohh slumps are certainly a common thing, I can understand that^^ even though most of us write fanfics for free and with it being our choice, we can't help but to lose motivation to write when our works aren't exposed as much to the readers.
Hmm I suggest adding more and more tags to your works? Tags that revolve around the piece you're writing.
Also, note to the readers... Reblogs, comments, and likes will be appreciated so do it>:)
As for an idea that you can write onnnn... Hmmm...
I have a few in mind... (These ideas are Hazbin Hotel related okay...)
1. Lucifer x cupid! Reader
2. Lucifer x death! Reader
3. Lucifer x Columbina! Reader
4. Lucifer x Azazel! Reader
So far these are some ideas I've been wanting to read/write but don't have the time to do at the moment but anyone is free to use it as an inspiration.
This goes to my other published works too, you can write fanfiction based on the fanfics I wrote lmao.
Hope this helps^^

Unrelenting Love - Brienne of Tarth/ Reader
This fic was inspired by the Gwendoline Christie fandom here on Tumblr and it is dedicated to you. You are all amazing, each and every one of you.
It is based on the song Madeline by Kiki Rockwell, if you want to listen to it on YT as you read, this is the link, or there should be a embedded video at the end of the post
t is the tale of a stubborn love, in the face of which space and time mean nothing. It is the tale of your epic quest to stand by Brienne’s side. It is weird, it is full of sentiment, it might be heart-wrenching. It might leave more questions than it answers.
Cross-posted on AO3 here.
Here's my fanfiction masterlist.
Tags: Brienne x Reader, hidden relationship, the shitty world GoT is set in, pining, hiding’s one somatic sexual characteristics. aka chest binding, war, nothing graphic. Gut-wrenching epic lesbian love. < this should be its own tag
Tumblr media
Madeline,
Tell me at what time do you set sail?
There's no one in this town left that could hold me
Already packed my bags, could leave today.
You were running through the palace, all pretense of propriety forgotten as you hiked your skirts up in your desperate dash. You had heard rumors in the months leading up to today, but you had been convinced it was only idle chatter. Surely she would have told you first hand if it had been true. She would have at least hinted at it.
But today was the day the ships were leaving, and she was nowhere to be found. Your heart was already beating a mournful tune, as you tore through the halls and the doors and the streets, hoping that at least you would not be too late.
You stopped dead at the docks in front of her, taking in her stern form as she directed the sailors and guards that surrounded her. She turned towards you, and the only show of emotion was a tightening around her eyes.
"So it's true. You're leaving."
"I am."
She had withheld the truth from you to avoid being confronted about it. You could read it in her rigid stance, in the tight line of her shoulders. She wanted to just disappear, like a thief in the night. She wouldn't have afforded you the common courtesy of a goodbye if she had had her way.
"I'll come with you, milady."
Girl at the front of the line
I'm sorry but I cannot let you sign
Your arms are far too skinny and you'd never
Last a single day upon my ship.
She let her eyes run over the wisps of hair escaping from your modest hairdo, your rumpled dress, the delicate slippers at your feet.
"No."
"I am in your service, my place is wherever you go, milady."
Your voice was strong, and strong was the sentiment in your eyes, the one you didn't dare to express in this public setting, full of unkind eyes and ears.
She understood both of the messages you were sending, you knew her well enough for that. But still, she was unshakeable.
"There's no place for you aboard this ship. No service you could offer. The best way you can serve me is by staying here, in Evenfall Hall."
Safe. That was what she was not adding aloud, but it rang in the air, unsaid. Like she was the only one allowed to go out and risk her life in the wide, unforgiving world.
The open sea is no place for a lady
There's reasons that they say we cannot board
Before you say, "But Maddie, you're a lady, too!"
I've long ago denounced that wretched word.
You lifted your chin in challenge. Although shorter, and softer, and weaker in appearance, you could be as strong-willed as her when you wanted. That was what had brought the two of you together, and what had kept you close despite all the misgivings around you.
Already as children, you were two misfits, too different to blend in with the rest of the court, and yet too willful to give in to the pressure to change. You had grown up together, entwined like the sprawling vines that grew on the southern side of Evenfall, supporting each other and becoming stronger together.
Your friendship had been as fierce and stubborn as you both were, and as you grew up, it became a fierce and stubborn love.
Without her there would be no life worth living here on Tarth for you.
"Then I'll just have to follow you on my own, if you won't let me board your ship, Lady Brienne."
"I'm not a lady. Regardless of birth, I never was," she murmured, harsh words barely audible over the ruckus of the port. "Farewell."
She turned her back to you, striding towards the ship without a glance back.
"Until we see again...Brienne," you whispered to the whipping sea breeze with its salty breath, salty as the tears that would fall down your face when you'd be in the safety of your room.
--
Madeline, tell me what time does your posse ride?
‘Cos I've been chopping wood
And starting fist fights
Surely this time let me at your side.
Once again you were running towards Brienne's turned back, but this time your hair was chopped short, and your feet were clad in too-big leather boots, your chest bound tight. The years had not been kind to you, nor had your voyage on Brienne's footsteps been easy or straightforward. You had taken many wrong turns and had stumbled on many obstacles. You had forsaken your feminine appearance, and your face only held a trace of your former beauty hidden behind gaunt features and grime.
You had finally managed to track her down to this encampment, just as she was leaving it.
"Brienne!" You called, as she was mounting her steed. She was resplendent in her armor, like a vengeful angel bringing divine justice to the world. She turned, looking as if she had heard a ghost.
You self-consciously licked the cut on your lip, courtesy of the latest fist-fight in an inn. In this war-ravaged world, tempers ran often high, and even masquerading as a young boy didn't shield you from the suspicious eyes of weary and angry townsfolk, looking to pin the blame on any foreign sacrificial lamb.
Girl at the front of the line
I'm sorry but I cannot let you sign
You've only tried a pony at the school fair
You wouldn't last a day amongst my men.
She recognized you.
Turning, one foot already on the stirrup, her eyes widened by a fraction, recognizing the familiar tone, and the known lineaments hidden within an unexpected form.
"I told you I would find you, milady."
You could see sorrow mixed with surprise hidden deep within her eyes as she took in your sorry appearance. As if she personally felt the weight of your hardships on her shoulders. You wondered if she had written, if there were letters in her small, precise handwriting gathering dust in your abandoned room in Evenfall Hall. Had she thought the worst, when she had received no reply?
"Let me come with you."
"You have no horse, and I am bound by my oath."
The canyon is just no place for a lady
There's reasons that they say we shouldn't ride
Before you say, "But Maddy, you're a lady too!"
I've long ago denounced that wretched word.
"I'll run by your side if I have to, milady. If you’ll let me."
Your eyes were burning with fervor, you knew it. She had always been the only North your compass pointed towards. Whether she allowed you or not, you would follow. You had made that decision long before you left Tarth.
But her companions had already started to leave, their warhorses' hooves trampling the street and you could see the tight hold that her honor still had on her.
You wouldn't begrudge her that, even if you could. That was the Brienne you loved, strong and unyielding as the best crafted of swords, and equally as able to cause pain. You looked at her, as she was already spurring her steed away, her pained voice reaching you from above her shoulder.
"I'm no-one’s lady, certainly not yours!"
--
Madeline
Yes, I might scream and sing and sob and dance
But I can swing a sword just like a soldier
So, Maddie, won't you give me just one chance?
The third time she was the one to find you, as you were meticulously sharpening your sword, shield carefully laid by your feet.
Your hair was long again, you belonging to the fairer sex no longer a closely-guarded secret. The rumors were probably what spurred her to come looking for you among the rows of soldier tents: looking for the woman who had managed to rise through the ranks of the army with none the wiser to her supposed intrinsic weakness.
You had proven them wrong day after day, and unrelentingly clawed your way past nepotism, sneering gazes and physical pain alike until you had both the respect and the loyalty of your own company of men. When you had been revealed as a woman, not one of your companions had turned on you, and they had stuck by your side as you ruthlessly, desperately fought for survival. Until today, the day before the Battle of Winterfell. The last battle against the encroaching darkness.
Girl at the front of the line
You'll work twice as hard for half the pay
But if you can deflect their filthy comments
One day you shall rise up and take my place.
"It is you."
Brienne sat by your side, the flickering light from the fires reflecting on her armor and in her eyes. She held her head high with pride, her face an unreadable mask for most people, her long fingers resting on the pommel of her sword, relaxed, but never caught unaware. Her hair shone pale in the orange light, cut as short as a soldier’s. She was harsh and unyielding, as always; and as always, so breathtakingly beautiful.
"This world is not big enough for you to get rid of me, milady."
"It's ser, now," she said, a sliver of emotion filtering in her voice. You accepted it as the present it was.
"So you did manage to fulfil your dream."
"I did."
"Felicitations."
"And what about you? Is this what you wanted from your life?"
She nodded towards your armor-clad body, the shield on the floor, the sword you still held in your hands.
You waited until her eyes were back on yours, so she could see the honesty, and the passion still burning in there.
"I only ever wanted one thing in my life, ser."
The battle field is no place for a lady
So no one would expect to see you there
And if you use this trick to your advantage, girl
You'll cut them to their knees as if in prayer.
With slow, controlled movements, you moved in front of her seated form, your knees meeting with the compacted earth as you kneeled before her, presenting her your sword.
"Tomorrow, let me fight beside you. My heart has always been yours. You now have my sword as well."
Brienne's warm, calloused hand rested upon your cheek as her eyes shone with tears she would never shed.
"If tomorrow has to be my last day, there's no one else whom I would want to fight by my side"

Author Ask Game
I was tagged by @sam-glade earlier in the month, you can find their post here. Thanks for the tag, Sam!
I'm going to tag @pleasestaywithmedarling and leave an Open Tag for anyone else interested!
I'll answer this for Shattered Dreams
What is the main lesson of your story (e.g. kindness, diversity, anti-war), and why did you choose it?
I don't know what the main lesson is. I didn't write it with a lesson in mind :')
What did you use as inspiration for your worldbuilding (like real-life cultures, animals, famous media, websites, etc.)?
I used 30+ years of reading fantasy and playing fantasy games as inspiration lol. Like, really. I pickpocketed ideas from all over the place.
My little dragons? Inspired by the fire lizards in Anne McCaffrey's Pern books. Magic system is a combo of actual magic and mind/healing magic. Mind magic inspired by Anne McCaffrey's Talent Series and Mercedes Lackey's Heralds of Valdemar. Brandon Sanderson's laws of magic + rpg magic and skill leveling played a huge role while establishing my magic system. There's more, I'm sure, but I'll leave it there.
As for my races, (fae, seraph, human, ifrit, jinn, undine, aicaya), I pulled the elemental ones from various mythologies, even if I don't follow the mythology in world. My fae are largely inspired by Sarah Maas, but I incorporated a bit of shapeshifting references along with a tad of traditional fairy mythology. Not much though. The humans are based off a european background, the fae a loosely hispanic background, and the seraph a very loose arabic/indian background.
What is your MC trying to achieve, and what are you, the writer, trying to achieve with them? Do you want to inspire others, teach forgiveness, help readers grow as a person?
My MC, Alaia, just wants to be accepted. Freedom from prejudice and unreasonable expectations would be nice too. Basically, she's an outcast and her (/my) goal is for her to find her place and her chosen family.
I am not here to teach a lesson or inspire or help someone grow. If those things happen along the way, I love that. But I just want to tell a story. Her story.
How many chapters is your story going to have?
I am in the middle of a major editing/revision pass. So far I've added 3 new chapters and consolidated one. The original draft has 49 chapters, though.
Is it fanfiction or original content? Where do you plan to post it?
Shattered Dreams is original content that I hope to self-publish, if I can work up the nerve. (and finish editing XD)
When and why did you start writing?
I started writing in 2020, because if my friend could do it, so could I. It was a lot harder than I thought, and more satisfying than I thought, and just. I'm so glad I started writing at long last. It's very literally changed my life.
Do you have any words of engagement for fellow writers of Writeblr? What other writers of Tumblr do you follow?
Oh gosh, I have no idea. Everyone is so different... on that note--No advice is one size fits all. Cherry pick that shit. Or ignore it all and you do you!
Writeblrs, writeblrs... shout outs to: @i-can-even-burn-salad, @little-peril-stories, @clairelsonao3, sam tagged me but @sam-glade lol, @outpost51, @winterandwords, @kaiusvnoir, and there's more but i'm running out of nerve to tag people 😂😅
Blank questions below:

What did you use as inspiration for your worldbuilding (like real-life cultures, animals, famous media, websites, etc.)?
What is your MC trying to achieve, and what are you, the writer, trying to achieve with them? Do you want to inspire others, teach forgiveness, help readers grow as a person?

stock dancing but it's all the fandoms i've ever been in
despite tumblr's accounts being called blogs, this is probably going to be the only "blog post" that I'll ever post. at least in the near future.
it's going to be a long one. disclaimer, it will contain some talk of things like fandom discourse, as well of mentions of Dead Dove topics, so scroll away if you need.
it will also be pretty personal, so I'm not adding all the tags for the fandoms and characters. this is mostly to those who know me.
I'll start at the beginning, in the best chronological order that I can remember. Not by order of appearance in the video, because I kept forgetting what came first when drawing the frames.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My Little Pony (Rarity) and Warrior Cats (Firestar)
These were my very first "fandoms." Before I even went to school, I discovered MLP on the television. I then proceeded to draw those stupid little ponies on the desk and some plastic containers. Thankfully it was with pencil, and not on any important containers and whatnot. Very glad I'm not a brony now, and very glad there was a human version so I didn't have to make a pony awkwardly dance.
Warrior cats was a series I read for a long time. I don't remember when I dropped it, but I just ended up losing interest. It has been stretched out by a lot by now, I believe. Warrior cats was also the first fandom that I "participated" in, by using Amino. Somehow, miraculously, I got out unscathed. By that, I mean no "safe adults" or suspicious people approached me. Not that I would've fallen for it after listening to internet safety week. Firestar is at the end of the animation because, well, it's difficult to make a non-anthro cat dance the same way as people do.
It's funny, because these two are most associated with people becoming furries later on in life, and somehow I am the only one who doesn't take much of an interest in furries within my friend group.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
LittleBigPlanet (Sackboy) and Vocaloid (Miku)
LBP wasn't something that I was really "in a fandom" for, but I definitely really enjoyed playing it with my best friend and even made my own username based on it. I remember playing LBP, LBP2, and LBP3, and the disaster that was LBP3 because after finishing the story, none of it would load properly. Tons of surfaces and props would just be missing. Still, it's a nice game to look back on.
I will be honest, this is probably the first Miku I've drawn. Vocaloid has just been a thing in my life since discovering it back... I don't remember when, but the first music that went in playlists of music I liked to listen to was generally made with vocaloid or other voice synthesizers. Miku has always been there, somehow.
*not to be mistaken with AI voice generators, as people actually agree to provide their voice for the voice synthesizers
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Marvel (Winter Soldier), Pokemon (Misty), Yandere Simulator (stand in- Vera)
I never drew anything for Marvel, except for the above frame. My family watched it when I was younger, everyone watched it before it started falling off after the infinity stones thing got resolved. The only reason I put it here was because I definitely read fanfiction for it, and definitely thought there was something fruity about america and his best friend. I mean, you find yourself in the future and everyone you've ever known is dead except wait, your best friend isn't, but he's brainwashed and now you have to kill him, so you betray the government and all your new friends instead to try and reach him. Shame that kind of story was stuck in the mcu.
Pokemon was an interesting phase. I drew Pokemon in ms paint, but never any of the humans. I had (still have some) Pokemon plushes and watched the first Pokemon anime on Netflix when it was still on there. I also watched the one with Serena. This was also the fandom that I first discovered porn. And tentacles. So if you ask me why, it's because of Pokemon. It's rather funny, because once again, I seem to be the only one in the friend group who doesn't take an interest in Pokemon anymore.
Yandere Simulator was discovered in elementary school. Because it's been shown that the dev was found to be interacting inappropriately with minors, I have not drawn the protagonist of the game and instead used an OC of mine as a stand in. All you need to know about Vera is that he is not a good person. I used to draw for this fandom back in my Amino days, just a bit, but ended up dropping it because of more and more people pointing out his incompetency. Plus, the complaint that to do anything in game you would have to watch the videos on YouTube, thus making a blind playthrough impossible. As well as his "sex license" comment, which was more than enough to turn me away from that game.
That aside, YanSim was my first exposure to the "yandere" trope- the obsessive, possessive type characters. In the game, it was done in a very bland way, but I like the general idea of the trope. Its influence still drives me towards certain preferences of mine in other fandoms, but I'd rather attribute that to Araki, who apparently popularized the trope with Yukako. I guess this is probably where my interest in "bad things happening in fiction" started.

Don't Hug Me I'm Scared (Sketchbook), Don't Starve (Willow), Cookie Run (Roguefort Cookie)
Initially, DHMIS was going to be my second or third fandom on the list, but I realized that I got into it when I was old enough to have an email address, and not before. Hence, now it's down here. I ended up using that popular design of the human sketchbook to be recognizable. It was an interesting fandom, and also another from my Amino days. I don't know who came up with the idea of the sketchbook and the clock having a love-hate relationship, but looking back on it, they might've been cooking. I remember joining a discord server for it, having my phone get taken away, and then coming back and the server was about the grinch. I also remember that this was the first time I actually interacted with the community and talking to the others within the fandom, since the Amino community was pretty small. I look back at it and cringe, because there are so many things I did for attention. Instead of linking back to a person, I would put emojis around the link with sunglasses and pointing hands saying "This idea came from 😎 👉 this person." All that aside, this is probably where my interest in horror started.
The only reason I remembered that I was technically in the Don't Starve fandom was because I went looking in my folder of drawings and found some there. Then I remembered that yes, I had also read fanfiction for it. Mostly, though, it was a videogame that I played with my family. I ended up using the charcoal pencil brush here for Willow, instead of the pen, to mimic the artstyle just a bit.
Cookie Run is a fandom that I was in, and only get back in briefly whenever Roguefort is in an event. I also first discovered it due to an artist on tumblr who I followed for DHMIS. No idea where they are now because I can't remember the correct spelling of the username. Other than that, I just play the game, which I have been playing since before high school. Now I am out of high school. It was also the fandom that I believe was probably responsible for a good amount of my early art improvement, due to some art challenge where you drew every cookie. Overall, fond memories, but I'd rather not return to the fandom. Too much drama, too many people making big fusses over dumb shit. The Valentine's Day video being an especially dumb one, especially when you consider that maybe, putting in offensive stereotypes contributes to bad perceptions of real life people vs some ship between biscuits. I even remember asking, when I was younger, "Should I ship Pink Choco cookie with White Choco cookie or Hero cookie? I can't decide." Poor little me didn't know about multishipping, and the answer I got was that "Some people headcanon the Choco cookies as siblings, so it's safer to ship her with Hero." Well, now that I'm older, I have decided that I don't have the energy to act like fictional ships anywhere near the same level as real relationships and problems, and would probably ship both were I still interested in the fandom.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Team Fortress 2 (Sniper), Doki Doki Literature Club (Monika), Jojo's Bizzare Adventure (Kakyoin)
Yes, I was in the TF2 fandom. I barely played the game but I usually played as Medic when I did. I also realize that as I type this out, this might have been the original old men thing. Or at least, some of the oldest. I drew them a lot, and I wrote a fic that I orphaned some years later out of shame. It had a werewolf in it for some reason, and was multiple chapters. Although each chapter was only about 1000 words, compared to my current long-term multichapter fic which easily have 2000+ a chapter. Well, aside from that, I don't know why I liked Sniper the most. He throws piss in bottle and I will say, piss is something I avoid if I can. It's in my muted words somewhere.
I never personally played DDLC. I did watch playthrough of it, and seeing people's reactions to some of the stuff was always enjoyable. Yes, Monika was my favorite, and still is. I can't say with certainty why she is, but maybe I just found her the most interesting out of all the characters. This fandom I remember drawing for because this is where one of my OCs originated from, although that character I am only really remembering as I type this out, despite repurposing her.
JJBA. I cannot say that I look back at my time here happily. This is probably where I first started learning about the current state of fandom (ie, Not Good) and getting a bit of personal experience with it. At the time, I did enjoy it. I enjoyed talking in a ship server (A) about it, and another general server (B) about it. It was great and all, until A started blowing up. Which wouldn't be a problem if it didn't have a blacklist of topics that anyone could add to. They're useful in smaller circles, yes, but in large public servers, most things are going to end up being blacklisted. I remember dresses and "positive talk about mothers" being blacklisted, and eventually I got too anxious that I would say something on the blacklist to speak at all. B was okay, and I even tried to get over my fear of talking to strangers in voice chat by joining one during a whiteboard or something similar where everyone draws on the same canvas. I later ended up deleting all 200+ of my messages there and leaving. Why? Because the members of the server did not know the concept of "block and move on." "Scroll away." "Ignore things that you don't like online." A popular artist in the fandom was brought up and the people started trashing on them because of their wedding, which was apparently themed with the favorite JoJo ship. (But honestly, if someone wanted to theme their wedding to a ship I would respect the hell out of them.) The reason I ended up leaving that server was because they started saying stuff like, "It's creepy and weird, because the characters are minors so there's probably something wrong with that person," and implying such things over a JoJo ship of all things. (And, it gets into the territory of the "violent videogames are the cause of vioence" argument. Do you think that because I particularly enjoy using shotguns in videogames because I find them satisfying means that I want to go out and shoot real people with a shotgun? The state of gun control in the US is awful, and if anything, I want less guns.) And, generally, judging things by how "weird" they are rather than whether it harms or helps people is too arbitrary of a measure. Unfortunately, this was far from the last time that I would see serious accusations made on the basis of dumb shit, and now I am doubtful of most callout posts.
Other than that, at least I know all the Jojo references people complain about seeing all the time. Although, now that I'm not into JoJo, I don't actually see that many jokes about it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Helltaker (Malina) and Weak Hero (Alex)
Malina gets two frames because she unluckily got the one that did not show her face. I can't say I remember much about the Helltaker community, but this was the community that I posted on Reddit to. Since then I have not used Reddit, but it was a good game and people seemed nice, at least from what I remember. Azazel was the one I drew the most, but Malina is a gamer girl, so I chose her for this.
I only remember Weak Hero because I saw that I drew a total of two images for this fandom. I discovered it on Webtoon, and joined a server which I have long since left, and that's all I can remember. Other than that, it was a webtoon with fighting and that's all I can say.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Omori (Omori) and Genshin Impact (Xinyan)
Omori was the first rpgmaker game I actually drew things for, although most of these drawings consisted of Sweetheart. Although I do like Ib and The Witch's House and Corpse Party, I never really went into the fandom. There wasn't much else to it, but the plot of Omori was good and it led me to discover one of my favorite artists, who, unfortunately, has left the internet. I wish them well.
Xinyan is here because she was and still is one of my favorites from the game. I wish she got better treatment from the game, especially gameplay-wise. I haven't drawn much for this game, due to the level of detail on outfits, but I did still play it for two years and read fanfiction for it. Lately I've just been watching videos for the story quest, though. Uninstalling it gave me 50+ GB back of space on my computer. About the Genshin fandom... JoJo may have been my first real bad experience with how online communities are, but this was my first time seeing how widespread it was. Lots of baseless accusations, fighting over headcanons, telling people awful things because they dislike a character... Well, the post that says the best way to enjoy fandom is to enjoy it with a small circle becomes more and more correct.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
OC era (Left to Right- Aster @/sepialkali, Lucy @/hattiestgal, Alason @/moonlightguardianmoon, Zion @/sweet-pattycakes, Bisu/Sparrow @/monarch-orien, and Danaus)
For this one I realized that I had leftover blank frames at the end of the animation, and asked my friends for their ocs to fill in. This era lasted a very long time, and started because I discovered Tupperbox. Since then, my characters have become a lot less watered down as I drifted away from roleplay, and most of the things I do with them is just art now. Two of them are getting a sort of visual novel story thing made of them though, if that counts for anything.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nu:Carnival (Kuya), Stardew Valley (Elliott), Wildfrost (Tusk)
Despite playing this game for a sizeable amount of time, the most I've done for this fandom was read fics and draw an event character once. Somehow, despite the bland gameplay, I have made a habit of continuing to play the game. I used Kuya because he's the only character I consistently roll for.
I first played Stardew Valley a long time ago without mods, and then forgot about it for a few years. When I came back to it earlier this year, I thought it would be funny to install mods that makes characters into crazy yanderes. It was definitely entertaining, although most of them were pretty standard. I will give massive props to whoever made the Elliott one, because they added events and schedule changes and a lot more than just dialogue changes. Anyways, the reason this is here is because I decided, on a whim one day, to start writing a very long fic for Stardew. This was at the beginning of the year, and it is not even halfway through right now. Then I lost interest in the game while retaining an interest in writing the fic, somehow.
Wildfrost I picked up near the beginning of the year. It doesn't have much of a story, and there's little fanart because of that, but the character designs are pretty good. I still play it daily, and Tusk is still a good unit, because it's basically free damage.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Honkai Star Rail (Peepaw Welt), The Greatest Estate Developer (Lloyd), The Coffin of Andy and Leyley (Ashley)
Honkai Star Rail remains on my computer, but I cannot find the energy to open and play it. Each new character becomes its own meta, and the gameplay loop isn't that enjoyable anymore. During the time that I did, however, I had my 50/50s ruined twice by Welt, which is why he is here. Otherwise I would've chosen Tingyun or Yanqing instead. Gameplay aside, I am lucky to have found a good community for this fandom through a ship server, as an almost complete mirror of the previous servers I was in for JoJo. They are what keeps me in the fandom.
TGED was a very short era that lasted for less than a month. During that time, however, I was afflicted by the demons, and drew and even wrote a decent amount (at least for my standards.) Funnily enough, what drove me away from it was the server I was in for it. This fandom is a very small one, and so the server had probably the majority of active fandom members that could speak English. What made me leave was the poor moderation and some immaturity from some members. Links to NSFW fanart was allowed in the same channel as SFW fanart, NSFW conversations wouldn't always be in the NSFW channel... Which, if it was an adults only server, would've been fine, but it is not, and I feel that this server is a genuine safety concern with the NSFW problem.
TCOAAL was a game I watched a playthrough of when it first came out, and then I saw the chaos that happened when it blew up with the release of the second chapter. I personally found it very entertaining, with the way people didn't have a problem with cannibalism and murder and cults until they found out there was an ending with incest, and suddenly the game was a bad game you shouldn't play. Although if you look at the Steam reviews most people don't care because, well, it's only a game. This game also served as a bit of a precursor. I find codependency in ships interesting, but I am only slightly interested in the game. I don't think about it that much, for some reason. Maybe that'll change when more chapters are released.
Tumblr media
The S-Classes That I Raised (Han Yoojin)
If you take a quick scroll through my account, you can probably tell that this is my current fandom. Funnily enough, the server that brought me into this was one I joined while trying to get out of TGED. I suppose it only worked because I read it on Webtoon awhile ago. This server is a lot better kept, although maybe it's because it's strictly an 18+ server. As well as that, it's a smaller community within the fandom, because the server's subject is inherently tied to one of the Big Dead Dove topics, so there's a lot less worrying about drama starting over that sort of stuff. To my mutuals, I will not talk about weird dead dove stuff that I'm into unless asked to, so don't worry about it. Some sort of codependency just makes me go crazy. Unfortunately, I was not able to fit him next to another image to make Tumblr make him smaller, and had to remove one of Malina's frames to fit the 30 image limit.
If any of my friends are reading all the way down to here, thanks! I'm very lucky to have you guys as friends, and I hope we can stay friends for a long time.

Hiii Everyone!!!
I've been around for years now and have never introduced myself. mainly cause I just choose to vibe and enjoy the posts people share, but first time for everything. You can just call me Key, I'm 24 and I go by she/her. I enjoy a variety of stuff from manwha, manga, anime, video game franchises, and just a bunch of other animated media you name its probably buried down in my blog somewhere. Every now and then I get motivation to create fanfiction. I have only written works the Dragonball and Super Mario fandom All my works are under the "Keep Reading". My DMs and askbox here is always open if you ever want to chat I apologize in advance if I come across as a bit awkward (socializing is not a strong suit of mine) or if it takes me a minute to reply (adulting and hobbies am I right?), otherwise I'm a pretty chill person. Thats about it!
One of these days I really want to change my Penname...But I've had it for years now and I'm way too attached to it lmao.
Super Mario Fics: So a lot of these are Princess Peach centric and I'm just crafting up an origin story and some other events following the 2023 film. The links take you to the tumblr post but I have included the AO3 and FFN (for reading preferences) links either in the original post itself or in the case of my earlier stuff in the reblogs.
Lost And Found
A Learning Opportunity (2 chapters on both AO3 and FFN. They are both on the same post here)
Thoughts Over Tea
Aftermath
Finding The Balance
Little Events (currently 3 chapters)
Chapter 1: The Dark
Chapter 2: A Decision
Chapter 3: The Coronation
Dragonball Fics: The first fandom I have ever written for (and by penname you could probably tell what I read mostly) I have only shared them on FFN and AO3 until now. I was just starting to write fanfiction with the first two so they might be kinda cringe I guess but that's 16 year old me for you haha. gonna embrace the cringe by sharing it on here anyways.
Tournament Day
The Prince Before The Day ( I am never gonna finish that one or go back to it lol)
Bulla's Easter Day
Even when I started making fics I'm still not sure what goes through my mind when it comes to the title or chapter titles its literally the first thing that comes to mind and nothing after that but we will get it one day for sure.
Here's Some WIPs (that's both written and not) you guys can look forward too from me. I'll remove them and add them under the appropriate fic tags once I post them:
Uncle Yamcha fic: It is currently three chapters. The first one is him and Trunks, second is Marron, and the third one is Bra/Bulla. I really want to think of one for him and Goten but nothing has come to my mind. I just think he's more close to Krillin and Bulma where he'd interact more with their kids and I can't think of a scenario for him and Goten or what they would even talk about but maybe something will come. (I've currently sent this off to my Beta for review but lemme know if you guys want to see the un-beta'd version I have on here cause I'm really forward to sharing it)
Untitled EOZ fic following after Goku leaves the Tournament grounds to train Uub. This one sits at about 8k words (not sure exactly cause I added a bunch of notes at the end for my beta to see where my thoughts were going with it all) anyways this one focuses mainly on Trunks, Goten, Marron, Pan, and Bra as really the older kids look forward to what may lie ahead. A lot of it is just me focusing on the dynamics they have with each other. When I saw that dlc for kakorat was going to be focused on that one that really makes me want to share this one. Again let me know if you want to see that.
Based on this Ask here you can already see that I've completed 2 out of my 5 ideas so that leaves the other ones and maybe more if I think of anything else. All of these will probably be added to my Little Events fic. a few little ideas not shared here but I've thought about and have some dialoge in mind but haven't fully created yet.
I want to do something where Mario and Haru interact I just think it'll be so neat.
Maybe something where I do my take on introducing Sarasland and Princess Daisy. Probably along the lines of Peach meeting Daisy for the first time.
I need to hop on the wholesome bros. content at some point and I know I wanna try my hand with Mia and Pio as a part of it.
I think thats it for now...I'll probably add more if I think of something as having somwhere to put it down no matter how small it is can be nice to look at and push me towards getting it done.

So I was curious
Most fandoms I've been in have had "the fanfic", AKA the one fanfiction that most if not all fans know about.
Examples of this are: Like Father Like Son in the ROTTMNT fandom Repeated Consequences in the LMK fandom and For the Forgotten Ones in the UTMV fandom
So I wanted to know if there was a fanfic in the Sun and Moon Show fandom that everyone knew about, but I didn't want to just ask on Tumblr or TikTok since my content doesn't get too popular on either platform unfortunately, I wouldn't get the responses to know.
Instead, I went onto AO3, and looked through the tag, completely unfiltered.
Results are based on the number of hits the fanfic got, and I'll be linking them. Also, all fics listed will be from when I see them and when this post was made (September 20th, 2023), some of them are incomplete at the time that this post was made. Now here are the top 5 fanfics under the Sun and Moon Show tag on AO3.

i’ve been seeing the anon hate for the rice krispies fic, and i dint really get it?? like, its so well written, and such a cool concept
also, the biggest anon hate thing is about non-con, which is usually in reference to.. unpleasant sexual advances on ao3, right? alejandro doesnt do that in the fic, he (from what we know so far) makes noah be more honest, and has an obedience trigger, as to not have him betray him
and you make sure to keep it tagged correctly, so people can filter out what they do or dont want to read, nobody is forcing them to read it, al la matchsticks on the eyes with a massive version of the fic on a wall, are they?
anyway, point is - the rice krispies fic is genuinely so cool, and an interesting way to explore their characters and others in regards to the plot
keep at it!! its so cool!! (i also thought id try and cancel out anon hate by sending anon love)
Anon, we shall have a spring wedding. /lh
I kind of glossed over it in the initial ask, but the use of 'non-con' in relation to my fic really rubbed me the wrong way, because it is usually reserved for SA and related offences- which isn't something that's going to happen in my fic.
RK!Alejandro's an obsessive, possessive creep, yes, but there are certain lines that I as an author am simply against crossing. Even in fiction that explores darker subjects.
I know they're likely making assumptions based on the whole 'hypnosis' concept- since the majority of hypnosis content used in fanfiction is sexual in nature, something I didn't find out until after publishing the second chapter, much to my embarrassment- so I'm considering adding a "Non-Sexual Hypnosis" tag to the fic itself, just for extra clarification.
(They're teenagers, why would I want to write SA content about them?! I'm far too ace to understand why people would jump to this assumption...)
But otherwise I think I've made it pretty clear that what I write in the context of the RK fic is intentionally messed up for the purpose of storytelling. It's a horror fic. It's going to be unsettling, and the characters are going to be less than moral. That's why I've tagged it as appropriately as possible (though if there are any tags you can think of that I've omitted, please tell me) and added the Dead Dove tag- fanfictions are tagged for a reason!
Sorry to go on a bit of a tangent there, I just really don't want people making unsavoury assumptions about me and my writing when I'm just trying to explore an interesting concept/plotline.
On a more important note; thank you so much for the support! It means so much to me, you don't even realise.

I've been ruminating on fandom lately. Criticizing fandom at all will get you barraged by very defensive fans who will accuse you of hating fun, not understanding creative expression, and being an art snob, and I am about to go a LOT harder than most of the posts I've been exposed to, so in an attempt to preemptively curb that indignance: I like fandom. I have written fanfics, and theory posts, and meta, and I've reblogged countless fanart. A lot of what I engage with or have made meets the standards I'm about to critique, and I understand completely that for many, fandom is a hobby. People would like to escape from the struggles in their lives. They find comfort in the media they love, so they immerse themselves it. It can be hard to make anything in this capitalist hellscape, so if you've achieved something at all, it's a miracle. I get it. I really do. I'm not an art snob; I think it's fine if things aren't that deep, and they're primarily wish-fulfillment. I have some grievances with the critics too, and they'll come up. This post isn't about you specifically; it's bigger. Fandom content suffers a lack of substance because of superficial engagement with the source material.
Many fandom critical posts on this website bring up shipping culture as the reason everything is samey and uninteresting, often referencing ao3 in specific. I sympathize with these posts, I also find shipping prominence can be fairly tedious when you want to read ANYTHING else, but why is it when complain about fandom, we point the finger at fic? Why do we use shorthands like "he would not fucking say that," and drop ao3 tagging conventions, and mention fanfic websites? Have y'all LOOKED at the fan art you reblog? A lot of it is just posing and kissing. If you wanted to analyze it for any further meaning, I don't think you'd get very far. I am not positioning fanfiction as superior; as everyone points out, a lot of it is repetitive and derivative, but let's not pretend that this is a fanfic exclusive issue. We can take it further out! Look at the absolute state of meta. Most analysis is done in service of promoting a headcanon or a ship if it isn't just a theory wildly speculating an explanation for an unresolved or ambiguous plot point. We're gonna include those guys who make power scaling rankings, filling out the wiki, etc too. They're fans! Everyone agrees those people aren't engaging with the text in a deeper way, but that doesn't make them NOT fans. It is the way their appreciation manifests the clearest! We're all fans; we are doing the same thing in just a different form.
Most of what gets popularized I all these spaces is based on a strictly literal understanding of the work; it's about plot events and how characters relate to it and one another, and the meaning people get out of it—from shipping to theorizing to memes to tierlists—never goes beyond that level. If people don't know how to look for themes, to interpret symbolism and examine the construction of a work to see how it contributes to how the whole is operating to affect them, because their education on how to do it sucked shit, then obviously they won't. But I don't think that's enough to explain the heart of the problem.
Critics will bring up the fandom wash cycle, an analogy for how way fandom will spend more time engaged with itself than the source material, and perpetuate its own tropes and fixations ad nauseum. This is true in any fanspace you can spend your time in, including those "who would win" bros. I hear this, and I think of social media, the place most of fandom lives now. People making original work often talk about how their stuff never gets any attention compared to fandom stuff; the biggest fandoms are sprawling franchises with corporate entities behind them. Social media algorithms promote what is already popular, what will generate the most clicks, so you stay online and make their corporate overlords more money. It is the depth of human experience streamlined into easily digestible chunks.
You're spent because life is hard and the world sucks and the only relief you can find is in the media you love. You don't want to expend a lot of energy today, so you'll consume or create ship centered content, or fan theories, or memes and gifs. You'll wonder who would win in a fight. Even without social media, people feed their own algorithms, because the system is designed to encourage it. Fandom is part of a larger whole.
If fandom will ever be more than what it is, you have to be willing to put in the work to fix it. Criticism won't cut it. As the saying goes, be the change you want to see in the world. Create what you want to see, use what you make to teach what might be lacking, seek out more of the things that look like what you want fandom to be (I assure you it exists), not just what you already know. Fandom is perpetuated by fans. Being a fan doesn't make you predisposed to creating cyclical, watered-down content. Every fan has a rich internal life with a whole host of experiences that should inform both how they make their works and how they read it to begin with, because they're people.
People are far too diverse to be defined by an algorithm; maybe with enough effort, we can write a new one.

Shipper Tag Game
I was tagged by the lovely @tj-dragonblade , thank you!
What ship were you completely obsessed with as a teenager, but now you don’t care about anymore?
As a teenager... well, that was quite a while ago lol. I suppose that would have been Harry/Draco. First fandom, first queer pairing, first smut stories. I was such a sweet sweet summer child XD The early 00s were wild
Which ship would you consider your first one?
Soooo. Funny story. Way back when, I got into fanfiction via fanfiction.net. You know how their filter system is bad/non-existent? Yeah. Little me, on her first outing to ffnet, didn’t know how to operate the character settings. I clicked on the first story on the top of the first page of the HP section. It was a Snape/Hermione star-crossed lover deal. It flash-fried my brain, taught me content curation in a crash course and incidentially made me partial to the ship for quite a few years...
Your first fanfic was about which couple?
See above lol. I will never ever forget the experience. I tried to find that story later for downloading (like an ugly beloved keepsake ig lol) but never managed.
If you mean fanfic I've written: it was gen.
Do you remember the first couple you saw fan art of?
Kakashi/Obito
Have you ever gotten into ship discourse?
Nope. Scraped by a few times since I entered the tumblr bubble but managed to stay out of it. I don’t get the point. It's freaking fictional characters in fictional worlds. Go touch grass or something instead... (but you will make me fucking mad if you try to drag me into these things with wild ad hom accusations based on what i ship or dont ship)
Did you used to have a NOTP or have one currently?
No, not really. It's only ever preferences. There are some I dislike due to my own hc/inability to suspend my disbelief but I wouldn’t call them NOTPs. I just don’t read them.
Who were the last couple in the last fanfic you read?
Dreamling
Currently, do you have any OTPs?
I actually dislike the term OTP. It's a scale of preferences for me. There are few (read: none) fav characters that I can only see with one love interest (and anyway, sometimes i do prefer plot over love story. wild take i know) and the more time I spend in a fandom the more I diversify.
Is there any couple that, to this day, you are extremely mad about not getting into?
I don’t get this question, sorry. If I'm interested, I'll search it out. Even if the fandom is old. AO3 is an archive for exactly that reason.
Is there any ship you used to dislike but now you think they’re kind of interesting?
Not that I can think of, at the moment!
Do you have any ship that, in the past, would have been considered normal but now you would be cancelled over?
Probably? I'm not clear on what all one is getting cancelled over this week/month/year by which group of 'concerend bystanders'. I suppose I might get cancelled for the mentioned Hermione/Snape?
What is your favourite crack ship?
I'm so glad you asked. It's clearly Dream/Helm (thank you for that @writing-for-life ) Or Gollum/The One Ring (thanks go to Neil himself here). Or - actually, never mind lol.
What is the couple you read the most fanfics about?
At the moment it's Dreamling. But I cycle through fandoms/pairings periodically...(btw im looking for more Johanna/Death? If anyone could point me in the right direction?)
What do most of your ships have in common?
At least one character has a dark/unknown/violent/tragic past (they can be victim or perpetrator!!! I'm all for character development babey)
What do you absolutely hate in a ship?
I don’t hate ships? As I said above. Possibly the reduction on 'I can fix him/her' or 'my love will save him/her from depression/"the darkness"/etc.' but that is mostly a matter of the author's style of crafting characterization and plot and has nothing to do with the ship itself.
I'm tagging @bazzybelle , @seiya-starsniper , @writing-for-life if you want to or maybe just point me towards your post if you've done it already?

3, 6, 8, 11, 21, 50 for fanfiction writer asks :)
I am SO very sorry for taking so long to reply to this. I double checked the date you sent this to make sure I was doing the right one.
3. Do you prefer writing OC’s or reader inserts? Explain your answer.
I really don't do either. I usually stick with characters from the source material, so I don't end up having many OCs. There are only two stories I've worked on that include an original character - Claimed and Summer of Learning. In Claimed, I added in a high school aged girl in "honor" of the exchange student that was staying with my family at the time and she had a great big crush on Aaron Paul/Jesse Pinkman, so I wrote them together just for shits and giggles. Summer of Learning is based off a prompt (Imagine your dad's best friend is Sean Patrick Flanery and he teaches everything you want to know about sex.) So I ran with it as an OC (but it's in first person, so technically kind of a reader insert?)
6. If you had to delete one of your stories and never speak of it again, which would it be and why?
Yeesh. I don't even know if it's still posted anymore, so... Anyway, it was from the very early days of Bethyl, and there was a song prompt for every day of the week, and I fell in love with "Poison and Wine" by The Civil Wars. I was a very new writer and I'd never done a prompt before and I took it fucking literally and made every reference to the song that I could. I mean, it wasn't cringey or anything, at least I don't remember it being so, but it was just so...very very literal to the song. Now I can look back on it and say, "Oh...prompts don't have to be word for word. That's just where you get the idea." Lesson learned.
8. Where do you take your inspiration from?
Anywhere I can get it. Inspiration doesn't seem to be a problem for me. It's motivation.
11.Have you ever amended a story due to criticisms you’ve received after posting it?
The most I've ever amended was adding tags that I hadn't realized I needed. I've never actually changed any of the content once a story is posted.
21. Tell me about another writer(s) who you admire? What is it about them that you admire?
We are so fortunate in both the Bethyl and Hellcheer fandoms to have so many talented writers. I hate to leave anyone out, but you asked, so...in no particular order...
@gneebee for posting every single week like clockwork. I wish I had an ounce of your discipline? organization? time to yourself?
@piper1016 for how far she's come as a writer, and for never giving up, even when fandoms are waning.
@im-immortal for writing stories that suck me in, even when I have to read them in between my fingers because I can't look directly at them
@pipergirl17 for taking on that enormous task of creating 26 AUs in the yellow pages series. What I’d give for a fraction of that creativity.
@hangon-silvergirl @cunnninghams for writing stories that make me absolutely melt and swoon over Eddie and Chrissy
@majicmarker for taking my favorite characters and writing them as if I'm actually inside their heads, looking around at what makes them tick. And the smut. Dear GOD the smut.
50.If you could write only angst, fluff or smut for the rest of your writing life, which would it be and why?
Fluff. All the way. I don't think I'm great at writing angst (although, fluff without angst is just...kind of filler, isn't it?) I've gotten incredibly gun shy about writing smut. (I think it's been close to three years since I've written a sex scene. Not sure how to get back into the groove at this point...) But cute, fluffy moments between these idiots in love, showing them fall for each other over and over and making sure they get the happy ending they deserve? Yeah. That's my bread and butter, right there.

Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you’ve written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Let’s spread the self-love ♥️
sent: december 16th 2022. once again, i am the queen of finding old posts. and you all said i should tag things so i can find them later, ha.
---
'NEVERMORE' we all knew would come out on top. this is THE brainworm. the piece de resistance. the swansong except i'm not quitting or dying when it's done. hopefully. i haven't told anyone but i'm very aware this could blow out to 200 or 300k if i finish it, and it's. i just love it. unfettered creativity etc. Nevermore is based on the stray kids cinematic universe, the music videos and performances that all connect to tell a story, but even if you don't know stray kids, i think you can read it - it's about a group of boys (a band? a group of musicians?) stumbling into another world that is made of music and controlled by a strict government, and their journey back home to their own time and place, and the things that are left in their wake. it's huge and it's long and it's the first time i've reached 70k and still felt like i have a hand on all the plot lines without leaving plot holes in my wake.
'The Gone And The Gathered' is a zombies fic set in an au where zombietown is treated as an internment camp by Seabrook, also based on ghettos/concentration camps from WW2. Zombies are used to run the power plant and supply electricity and water to Seabrook and have never left the town; werewolves are known wild entities, and some have been captured as they are Useful in maintenance in the power plant. The story follows teenaged Wanda and Zoey through a series of discoveries about their world and the ripple effect this has on Zombietown and the world beyond the walls that they have never seen - and it's about staying quiet and accepting your lot in life, or daring to strike out and create a better future for yourself and your people, even if it might mean sacrificing yourself.
'Turn Your Back On Mother Nature' is a MCU Eternals fic, focused on Druig and Makkari. It contains five canon compliant scenes that, given my own director's cut, I would have added to the movie - not meant to change anything, but just meant to complement the plot and the character's own individual storylines and give more depth and meaning. I feel like I really excel at working within the boundaries given by a certain media and it's one of the main things that keeps me coming back to the challenge of writing fanfiction, and I'm so proud of the job that I did on this - it's well written, my character work really stands out, and I thought the scenes really worked to capture each idea I was trying to express. mwah good job roo.
'To Go Beyond Your Borders' is my pokemon comfort fic. It follows Angie, the champion of Sinnoh but also a disgraced public figure, and a journey of self-discovery as she runs away to Galar to compete in the Gym Challenge there. I started writing this in my depression/anxiety era, and in a lot of roundabout ways a lot of the themes/Angie's struggles are based on challenges I've faced in the last few years, so this fic is. Really cool, and something I keep coming back to as I really like the story I built for it. If more mature pokemon journeys is something you're interested in, this is the fic for you - and the composition of it, with social media interlaced with traditional storytelling, is so fun, I love doing it and coming up with the different bits and where they'll make the most impact. This is just so fun to work on and more people should read it so I make it more of a priority cause seeing this finished one day is going to make me so happy.
'if only we knew (the things we know)' and it's sequel, 'and the chasm grows', two of my long zombies stand-alones, are the fics i always think of first when asked what writing I'm most proud of. The themes are big - death, and knowing that you're going to die soon (cancer related themes, though this isn't about cancer), and facing down the idea of genocide of your entire race. They're very dark, as they have to be, and they're very hopeless, and whenever the odd reader comes along they tell me that they cried, and yet I think I managed to find a little bit of warmth in each, the strings of community and family and comfort that hold on until the very end. I specifically recommend the final scene of chasms, which i wrote in a blinding flash of inspiration and will never be able to recreate - it sticks with me even now, and while I can't remember certain other scenes from these fics, I will never forget that ending, and the way it made me as the writer feel when i finished and looked back on it.

How did you get such a great fan base? Cause I try but nothing seems to work. It's super disheartening cause it feels like no matter how hard I try everything just falls flat. I've been at this for 15 years and it's always been like this for me. I'm about at the point of giving up.
Hi, anon. First, I want to say sorry that you’re feeling disheartened with your own interaction, and that your works aren’t getting the love they deserve.
I wish there was an easy answer, but in truth a lot of it is just luck? Ive had some really great followers who are very interactive on my fics and for that i feel lucky. Sometimes it’s just the right people rebloging things at the right time. But, there are some things I always make sure to do when posting new fics, on here and ao3. Posting time is key. It’s hard to judge when your followers are online, but tumblr as a whole is very catered to Eastern Time US, so I always post when that base is up to read. I avoid late night postings, except for a few drabbles or asks maybe. Tagging is just as important, so always tag your fics as “character x reader/oc” depending on what’s more accurate, but also fill out more tags. Tag just the character, tag the fandom, tag “character fanfiction” and “fandom fanfiction” and similar tags if you’re adding smut, fluff, angst to try and get your fics to pop up in as many tags as possible.
When I started it was a lot of hyping myself. You gotta tease your own works, build up excitement and really advertise yourself. Also, ngl interacting with others is key. Before I posted fics here I was rebloging other fics and leaving comments, and that lead to me becoming friends with other writers. Then as I was hyping myself up more, suddenly people were interacting more with that too.
I’m really sorry that you’re feeling that bad, anon. The truth is, I’m sure that even if you think your works are falling flat, there’s someone who LOVES them and would miss it if you stopped.

Chapter 13: Princess of Whales
Author Commentary
Turns out that my cliffhanger from the last chapter only dropped you about 2 feet! Hahaha! This is a slow burn, of course the big drama will be saved for the end. This is all a warm up! But I'm enjoying torturing my readers along the way.
Tumblr media
So it turns out that Hermione wasn't in danger from the portkey, but man was she ready for it! I was excited to write her as a little more aggressive and competent after all the emotional upheaval of the previous chapters, so it was super fun to write about how thoroughly she bests both Theo and Draco in a matter of seconds.
Joke about Diana, Princess of Whales brought to you courtesy of this children's book
Tumblr media
I made up one of the spells that Hermione uses obviously using google translate for the latin (vine binding... probably not grammatically correct, but whatevs, this is fanfiction, baby!) and it was definitely inspired by Devil's Snare.
This is possibly the funniest look I've ever seen on Emma Watson's face
Tumblr media
I also really enjoyed all the speculation from my reviewers about Marc. Honestly, the hardest part about wrapping up the Marc arc of the story was deciding who would get the honors of punching him in the face (it was never a question of whether he would get punched in the face, only by whose fist). Harry was out because he's already had the honor of punching someone to avenge Hermione (poor Theo, less deserving, so less satisfying for Harry). I hemmed and hawed between Theo and Draco for a while, and almost even rewrote the entire chapter when I had the wild thought that maybe Hermione should get the punch. But at the end of the day Draco won out and I'm happy with the flow of things.
A quick clarification on the hex Draco uses at the end: Hermione originally used a similar hex on a sleezy guy named Anderson at Pansy's party (Chapter 6). Her version was set to activate the caterwauling charm whenever he touched a woman without express, verbal permission. Draco's version is a literal more liberal though. He intended it to be set off even if Marc has a willing partner since Marc is manipulative enough to get consent and still have the relationship be sketchy (like with Hermione). Marc thought it didn't work because he didn't feel anything and there were no flashy lights, but I can assure you it very much did work.
Bonus pic of how I envisioned Theo's study at Nott Hall
Tumblr media
Bonus meme of Theo to Draco while they're arguing with Hermione

Lastly, it may interest you to know that based on the events of this chapter I've added a 'Protective Draco Malfoy' tag to this fic on AO3!

AO3 doesn't house 'every random thing' people submit. AO3 is a fannish-transformative work archive. Too many people think of AO3 as a sort of library when its more like a bank or vault for a specific purpose.
For specific content.
Fannish-transformative content. That could encompass RPF, meta, character-based fanfiction, universe-based original fiction, transcriptions, podfics, ect.
Does fannish-transformative content include a large scope? Yes. But its not AO3 is just shrugging its shoulders and saying yeah sure, whatever, post it here. I've literally had works removed because I added the alternative universe (fandom) the fic is based in as a fandom by mistake and not an additional tag, thus making it incorrectly a 'crossover' work.
I came across sort of harsh in my first message, for which I'm wholly apologising, but I'm exhausted and angered by two decades' worth of people looking at AO3 with biased tunnel vision.
AO3 is not a social site. AO3 is not a community site. AO3 is not like Wattpad or Tumblr. The literal purpose of AO3 is to archive content. We're frankly lucky it has the comment functions that it does. Think of AO3 like a massive harddrive, but online. Its Google Drive for fanfiction. That's it.
People have such an un-true perspective on AO3 that it causes constant harm. People demanding functions like private messages, group communities, more social aspects. Demanding censorship and certain community approaches and goals and restrictions.
It. Won't. Happen. Simply because that's not what AO3 is for. Its the same reason why there'll never be censorship, or 'safe spaces' or segregated areas on the site.
Its up to the users, specifically, to craft there work in a manner that telegraphs the intent. Use the tags. Use the author notes. Delete sexualising comments. My actual best advice? Create a Discord server where you can monitor the users accessing it. Craft your community there and use AO3 for what its intended for; hosting.
i've been on ao3 for almost nine years i know what it is. why has fandom culture normalized abuse porn.
like the problem isn't so much the specific rules of ao3 (i mean i disagree with the philosophy i guess but that's also a result of the culture) but with a culture that is actively hostile to traumatized and marginalized people. and don't try to tell me it isn't because there are countless firsthand accounts of how alienating and hostile and uncomfortable fandom can be.
when i wrote my first post i was thinking of a friend's fic, which features a disabled character. my friend got comments on their completely sfw fic assuming it was sexual. some people were mad at them for fetishizing disability and some were into it and both responses were wildly inappropriate for the story. why have we created a culture where it's more normal to sexualize and fetishize disability than to write about it? that culture is actively hostile to disabled people. as a disabled person who frequently writes about disability this makes me feel unsafe. deleting the comments still means you have to read and see them and know that this is how your work is being interpreted. and you can telegraph your intent all you want but that won't give readers critical thinking skills!! like!! sorry don't blame the writer of a sfw fic for the people who automatically sexualize everything.
i also like... never asked for messaging or any other social media feature. yes i'm thrilled to be able to block users but i never asked for that either. but like ao3 does serve a social purpose no matter how much it pretends it doesn't? like? yeah it's an ~archive~ but its main practical use right now is not historical. you can already leave comments on works that go directly to the author-- compared to other sites framing the feedback function as reviews. that has been true as long as ao3 has existed. i don't want it to be a social media and in fact i wish it were less of one.
it is also truly bold of you to assume that i don't already curate my experience. i have my own small communities. i literally do have a discord server and we have an ao3 collection just for our works. i have a fic blog for the express purpose of hosting my fics somewhere that isn't ao3. i have been in fandom for ten years now. and i can understand the purpose and function of ao3 and still disagree with it. you're coming off as really condescending here.

I walked up to the Ao3 check-in kiosk, fanfiction in hand. "Hi, I'd like to enter this for display," I said.
The clerk smiled at me, passing me a form. "That's great. Thank you for choosing to share it with us. Just fill that in and we can post it. There are some required categories, but there's also a freeform tagging system that you can use to let readers know if they might enjoy your work. You can put anything you want there."
"Anything?" I joked, filling in the boxes.
"Within reason," they added, pointing over their shoulder at a tag list—a tag list that went on, and on, and on.
"I could probably fit the entire story in that. Well, this story. I've made a series," I babbled, patting my bag. "I broke my previous word count record with it."
"That's great, good job," the clerk said, pleasant but not at all impressed.
I winced, embarrassed. "Sorry. You probably hear a lot of that."
The clerk shrugged. "Well, yes."
I finished the core categories and added a few relevant details to the free form box, then tapped the pencil against the counter in thought. It was what would let people find or exclude my story based on their preferences. The Archive was massive—it was important to tag correctly.
"Having trouble?" the clerk asked. "We do provide suggestions, to an extent."
"It's fine, I just...I need to get this right."
They watched me for a moment. "Honestly? Close is good enough."
I nodded, because it was true—when reading, I only skimmed the tags, just enough to get a feel for the author and the work. If I kept seeing a tag connected to something I didn't want to read, I could filter it out easily enough.
Still.
"What about edge cases?" I asked after a moment.
"Like what?"
"Like...what is angst, really?" I asked. "How is it defined? Is dwelling on the pain a requirement of the genre or does it simply act as an intensity modifier of it?"
"I can show you some samples, but it's defined by community consensus. If you think it fits, it probably does."
"But I don't know if it fits. I aimed to give the reader increasing levels of dread, not go 'oh poor blorbo.'"
"You could tag it as horror," the clerk offered.
"But it's not. It's really not. Drama with notes of tragedy at best."
The clerk bit the inside of their cheek before turning on their headset. "Hi, I have a question about common tags for...." They read off the fandom from my form. "Character 5, I think? Right, thank you."
They turned back to me. "Angst, fluff, hurt/comfort, romance, and friendship are common tags for this character."
"Yeah, I'm familiar," I said with a sigh. "Most of the angst belongs to a more popular character, and what little that doesn't is connected to the romance." I waved at the fanfiction. "This is not a romance."
"That doesn't have anything to do with angst."
"Yes, but if I tag it angst will they expect romance?"
They gave me a look. "If you tag angst, the reader will expect angst."
"But I don't even know if it is angst! You don't understand, I can't be wrong on the internet."
They sighed, pinching the bridge of their nose. "It's a simple decision, and you can always change the tags later. Just—you wrote it. You know it, right? Do you think it has angst?"
I started to speak, then stopped. "What about another tag?"
"Alright. What's one that would fit your work?"
I looked down at the fanfiction, and I could feel it staring back at me even without eyes. I turned back to the clerk. "You know what? Never mind. I've never seen this thing before in my life."
