I feel like Clawdeen is suffering from main character syndrome.
That's not to say that she's a bad character, or that there's no way to make her more interesting. Also, I'm talking strictly about the currently running nickelodeon cartoon.
I feel like the biggest flaw in how she's being written is that, well, everyone has their thing.
Draculaura is a fearleader and a student bloody president, a daughter of Dracula, who seems to be one of the most popular and powerful in-universe monsters, plus she's studying to be a witch in secret and she's a perfectionist who wants everything done flawlessly. Frankie is completely new to absolutely everything, plus they have the whole mad scientist shtick, and their brain is made up of bits and pieces of other characters from the universe's past. Cleo has the quasi-mean girl persona (though it's just a persona) and her inferiority complex towards Nefera. Lagoona is kind of a more comedic than the rest, but she's just so endearingly weird that it's kinda enough? Plus she has to keep up the facade of an aggressive oddball, but she's shown to be sensitive and emotional.
And Clawdeen? Well... She had her casketball team...? She's looking for her mom...? She's allegedly a monster fangirl...?
What I'm saying is that I just feel like Clawdeen doesn't have enough quirks and "personality" compared to the rest of the cast. She's supposed to be the "everyman", the character people indentify with, but she appears to know almost everything about what's going on, how monster high works, and any ins and outs of monster culture or entertainment.
One thing that kinda annoyed me is that Clawdeen just kinda knew everything about how being a werewolf feels or works? There was no adjustment period. Wouldn't it be interesting to have these werewolf abilities be awkward/uncomfortable sometimes? Maybe her strong sense of smell gives her headaches or makes her dizzy? Maybe she howls when she's happy/excited and she feels embarrassed about it because she can't control it (she does that in the cartoon but she just fully accepts it) or maybe she eats much more and uses her hands, licks the plate clean and in general is a messy eater? Maybe she breaks things with her super strength, or doesn't land all her jumps? It reminds me of how Twilight in my little pony needed some time to adjust to having wings. I know that there's the episode where she meets Howleen and the other werewolves, but I feel like they should be used more and shown teaching Clawdeen more about being a werewolf. Now that Clawd was added to the cast, maybe he could teach Clawdeen about being a werewolf while she teaches him about the human world?
The monster fangirl thing is underplayed too, because Clawdeen, other then in the first episode, doesn't really show any excitement or interest in other monsters on like a reasercher level? I guess they didn't want her to know everything instantly, but I think that they could've given it a twist kinda like they did in the owl house- Luz came to the Boiling Isles a big fantasy nerd, so she should probably know everything about a magical setting, right? Well, no, because Luz's knowledge came from human fantasy books and lore, and while the Boiling Isles have things like magic or griffins or monsters they work much differently than she thinks. Maybe Clawdeen could be excited about other monsters and think she knows so much, but her knowledge comes from human lore any mythology, which is often wrong or at least misses the mark?
Maybe make her more traditionally geeky, show her excited about reaserch and learning, or have her be very knowledgable about some made up human fantasy series with monsters in it that baffles all the other students. We know that Lagoona likes sea monster telenovelas, so why can't Clawdeen like some fantasy show/book about a main character who's like her (a werewolf or a half human) with a cast of other monster characters?
Of course these are just one person's ideas and feel free to disagree with me, plus it's not like the writers won't be able to potentially make Clawdeen more interesting as the series goes on.

Here I am with another ask because I had some time to process that chapter honestly it didn't feel 10k but wow
First adding Shakespeare I'm excited who this Portia is going to be (also the pound of flesh condition actually she saved him by saying shylocks not to take even a drop of blood and I know this because it's one of my mums favourite stories)
Second them vmin talks with JK.
Third Namjoon's tendency of 🤓 being a geek.
Also I didn't realise that an empty gun meant her lack of preservation. I'm seriously 😟 concerned.
Also why exactly is Yadiel like destroying the Bianchi fortune isn't he not from South Korea ??
First off: YOU'RE RIGHT THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR POINTING THAT OUT!!!! I literally couldn't remember and instead of looking into it I just was like, "yeah, that sounds right" so thank you for pointing out that it was actually a drop of blood! It's been a year or two since I read Merchant of Venice, but it's such an interesting story! I kinda have a hate-love relationship with it, but not nearly as much as I do with Macbeth haha. Anyways thank you and I already went back and fixed it!!
Ok but it really didn't feel like 10k, right?? Even as I was writing it I was like, "ok, maybe we're at 7/8k??" but no, 10k. time flies when you're having fun I suppose
yess that chats with JK are so interesting and fun to write.
Namjoon's geekiness shining through was literally one of my fav parts haha
Ah, the empty gun. Don't worry too much about it, it was more to send a message to Yoongi than anything! Kinda like a, "Haha! I knew I'd get away with it!" moment then anything. Reckless? Definitely. But she's not gonna be leaning toward self-harm or anything like that!
ok I'm not quite sure I understand your last question! Neither Yadiel or Bianchi are from South Korea. Yadiel is taking control of Bianchi's assets/money because money=power in this world and he's gonna need a lot of power for what he's planning next. And he's been planning to take over Bianchi's clan for years now, and kinda highlighted in chp. 10! Hopefully that answered your question! :)

PT.1 Eddie is so enamored with his s/o that he probably wouldn't even notice he's in love until months after the fact. Kinda like how you don't notice you're hungry until your stomach starts growling. As such, he can't pin point the moment he fell in love; just the moment he realized he had, if that makes sense. And it's not even in a sense of, "Oh my god, I'm in love with you" so much as it is, "... Oh... So THAT'S what this is. ... Oh, wait--!!"
PT.2 There's a literal myriad of ways he could confess but the one that currently comes to mind is that you guys were on a date to yet another museum. You'd driven out to Chicago to see the art museum and you were holding his hand throughout the entire thing. It was when you came upon Fuseli's "Macbeth, Act 4, Scene 1" that you attempt to crack a joke:
PT.3 "That moment when your friends send you to kill a spider but then you see how big that sucker is," you smirk, referring to the look of horror and disgust upon Macbeth's face as he regards the head at his feet. Jokes between the two of you are not unusual, even when in such an institute. And yet, there's something about this one joke of yours that makes Eddie's heart...flutter. Flutter differently than how it normally does in accordance to you. But he decides to pay it no mind...
After the museum date, he takes you to a comic book shop just down the street. He giddily begins plucking issue after volume of items on his wishlist, stopping only when he hears you gleefully go, "Holy crap! Eddie, look at this!!" When Eddie turns, he sees it. You're holding a DVD omnibus of the second season of Batman: The Animated Series, priced quite decently for what it was.
PT.5 You eagerly purchase it, saying that the two of you could watch it tonight at your hotel room. In your excitement, you don't think for a moment that the "it" Eddie first saw was your radiant smile, and not the DVD. Eddie isn't as talkative that evening. THAT was the first sign something was amiss. You ask him what's wrong but he insists nothing is wrong. "Just tired," he says, offering a smile.
PT.6 Too tired to go on about the paintings you saw that day? Too tired to give you the history on all the graphic novels he'd purchased today? Too tired to say more than seven fun facts about Batman: TAS? You weren't buying it. But no matter how much you asked, Eddie insisted nothing was wrong. He wasn't lying: He was only thinking. Thinking about why your joke today seemed so different. Why the smile you gave him so many times before suddenly felt brighter.
PT.7About your eyes, about how you'd look in the morning, about how you'd want him to get up early to grab you a donut from the continental breakfast so that you could sleep in, how you'd do the same thing if you were married and in your own hou-- Eddie's eyes widen, and not because of whatever new scheme Joker was planning. He glances at you. Your eyes are trained o the TV, it's glow flashing on your features. You were making that face you made whenever you were intrigued. That face he loved --
PT.8Eddie's heart ricocheted about his ribcage. "Gotta go pee," he mutters, getting up a little too quickly for someone who'd claimed to be tired. He uncharacteristically disregards your "hey!" from losing the body you'd been propped up against. In the bathroom, he leans over the sink, face burning beneath the droplets of water he'd splashed into his face.
PT9So. This was it: He loved you. Like, he loved you before but now, he LOVED you. How geeky you were, how you humored him, how everything just fit right. He wasn't scared; Eddie never knew fright. But he definitely wasn't out to march out there and -- *knock knock* "Eddie?" he hears you call from behind the door. "Is everything okay?"
PT10"Uh... Yeah," he responds, still not quite lying. Everything was okay. Everything was gonna be okay, he told himself as he dried his face. Flushing the toilet and washing his hands to throw you off, he then inhaled deeply before exhaling. Everything was gonna be just fine. He opened the door to see you standing there, worry inked into your features. "That was the most active I've seen you all evening," you say. "Yeah, well..." Eddie says, making his way back to the couch.
PT11"You can only be so active at a museum," he offers, a smile accompanying his reason. You give in, seeing no point in pushing it. "True," you admit, joining him on the couch. "And I can't say that a comic shop is a gym either..." The two of you are quiet for a moment. "God, we're geeks," you suddenly say. This causes Eddie to chuckle. "What? It's true!" you say. "Who drives out to Chicago just for the art and comics!?" "Art students." "We aren't art students, Eddie! We do this for FUN!!"
PT12"True..." Eddie admits. "But at least I'm a geek for you," he says. And damn, it sounded so much cooler in his head! "Yeah," you scoff. "You take six months out of the year to perfect your (Y/N) cosplay to go to (Y/N)-Con in the living room," you continue sarcastically. "Well, no..." Eddie begins. "But I do love learning things about you." He bites his lip, uncertain as whether or not he should go on. His heart kicks his brain out of the way, making him do exactly that.
PT13"I know how you like your tea; I know that you call babies 'baberts' and cry when one waves at you; I also know what songs you like on your playlist and which playlists signify what you're feeling. I know a lot of other things, too, and I love them all. But... Well, it's not enough for me, I guess." "... Eddie?" Is he breaking up with you!?
PT14"I'm a geek for you because...you're an endless trove of things to learn. You're interesting, funny, smart, kind, all around wonderful... Plus, you're a huge geek, too. I know that normally I would be waxing poetic but sometimes simpler words can be just as powerful so... So here it goes!" You blink frantically, trying to figure out what the heck this man is saying. "(Y/N)!" Eddie says, his regularly loud voice returning for the first time in hours.
PT15"(Y/N), I -- I --" Everything is gonna be fine. Everything is gonna be fine. Everything is gonna -- "I'm your biggest fan!!" ... Smooth, Edward. Mrs. Collins from AP English and Mr. Craig from college creative writing would be so proud. It is as he considers hiding his face in the pillows that Eddie feels your hands pressing against his cheeks, forcing him to look up at you. "Yeah..." you whisper
PT.16"I'm your biggest fan, too, you knucklehead." Batman: The Animated Series plays on, forgotten as your lips meet with a confirming kiss, followed by many, many more, passionate ones against your lips, cheeks, neck, and shoulders. It is about ten minutes later, as your back is pressed against the sofa cushions with Eddie hovering over you that your beloved suddenly notes, "You know, couches in hotels are often left uncleaned by the staff." "Dammit, Eddie! Read the mood!!" THE END
“so i’m not getting-” “you are not getting any tonight.” “god damn it.” “at least, not on this couch. that much i assure you of.”
can you just imagine his smile when he wakes up? she’s curled into his neck, hand on his chest, and he lays there for a while, playing with her hair and beaming brighter than the sun because... he loves her. he loves her, and she’s in his arms, and there’s nothing that could be better.
except, perhaps, to say it and hear it said back in return.
so while she’s sleeping, he moves his lips over her cheeks, her brow, her ears, her jaw, murmuring “i love you” softer than morning breezes. nearly silent. little kisses here and there that tickle her awake, bringing her into the waking world with a smile on her face.
“good morning, most adored darling of mine.” “and a good morning to you, most handsome one.”
and his heart is so full of joy that he can’t help but kiss her, firm and fast and true, to somehow convey how much love her feels for her. how much infinite, unnameable, unbelieveable love he feels.

I have what is probably a weird question but based on your about page I'm hoping you're a good person to ask! I'm a huge nerd: officer (head of house) of my school harry potter club, fanfic writer, cosplayer, etc. So could you tell me about geek culture in Northeastern and Boston? Is Boston a good convention city? What kinds of nerdy groups are there on campus? That kind of thing. Thank you!!
ohohohoh you posted in the RIGHT neighborhood, friend.Did you know I made one of my now closest friends at college because she googled “How to Cosplay in College”, found my blog, and emailed me? Like honestly, one of the sweetest people and now we cosplay together so like…please feel free to email me and we can geek out further ([email protected]). I would love to hear more about your cosplays and harry potter club?? So cool. I was VP of quidditch club back in my day.
Tumblr media
We’ll start with Northeastern, and I’ll be honest, I’m not highly involved in any geeky Northeastern culture. Actual school is kinda my break and escape from that culture. The nerdiest thing I do on campus is I was a founder of Northeastern’s Board Game Club so we all get together Friday and Saturday nights to play board games. It attracts a lot of really nerdy but also super cool and friendly people. Albeit, most of my friends here are highly nerdy and will take time to organize things like dnd or cosplay stuff on their own, but I don’t partake in that *through* the school. It’s just kind of the friend group I fell into thanks to my interests.
A pro tip- low key put yourself out there. I have made friends because they had anime key chains I recognized on their backpack, and like anything HP or Star Wars is sure to start a conversation.Other than my board game club, there’s a roleplaying club (NUTRS), there’s an anime club, there’s a Japanese cultural club that a lot of the anime trash like myself will flock to, there’s video game clubs, but now that I think about it, I’m not sure if there’s one for comic books? But if that’s your thing, there easily could be!
As for the city? I think it’s hugely nurturing to this community. Not only are there TONS of college kids into this, but we’re in the heart of New England so there are tons of cons near by. PAX East just happened last week, Anime Boston is the end of this month (I’ll be there ayyyy), there’s Boston Comic Con in the summer, Rhode Island Comic Con a hop and a skip away, and I’m sure there are a few more. I also go to one in New Hampshire (Another Anime Convention) that’s only an hour and a half drive and you could probably get there by bus?On a non con related note- Newbury Comics is a bomb store for all your nerdy needs, and the one near us on Newbury street is also like half a block away from an anime store? Not a bad deal. For cosplaying, the Boston Commons is a hugely popular photoshoot spot and I have just randomly seen people in cosplay there and I always get super excited.I hope that’s a good start to answering your question! I definitely think you found the right gal to talk to. Like I said, email me if you want to chat more!!Thanks for the question, and happy nerding~

Projects I'm Working On
Hello, fair folk of the internet!
I originally had a very different blog post planned for today, but as I was scrolling through previous blog posts it occurred to me: while I talk about the WIPs and novels I’m working on, I’ve never actually explained them.
On Twitter I have the hashtag #TheFictionList/#TFL and #SandCB for my projects, which brings up a few pitch preps for #TFL and me rambling about my disaster children for both.
I’m definitely going to be talking about The Fiction List more as the year goes on, as I’m pitching this June (hopefully – June or September) in PitMad on Twitter and will be querying over the rest of the summer. Eep! The madness will absolutely be updating on my blog and twitter, so I figured it’s high time to explain what they’re even about.
The Fiction List
When a teen book blogger has anxiety about senior year, she and fellow blogging friends decide to create a list – The Fiction List. A race to check off YA fiction stereotypes in their own lives leads to drama, chaos, and spectacular backfiring.
That’s the pitch I used for #NaNoWriterMatch (which honestly, I did not end up with a match but still had fun anyway :P) and I was honestly stunned by a few of the comments. Very special thanks to @daylightreads for saying you misread my tweet and tried to find the book on Goodreads- I floated on that compliment for the rest of the week.
ANYWHO, TFL is an enemies-to-lovers YA Contemporary with sarcasm, book blogging, and the power of friendship (as cheesy as it sounds). It’s a bit of a love letter to the online book community and how easily the online world can bleed into the offline world. And enemies to lovers, because, duh, it’s me writing it. All of my books are that way (because it’s cutest trope ever and I will die on this hill).
This is the book I’m pitching and to be completely honest, I’m struggling with writing it right now. I’m on draft three, technically – I wrote half of a draft two last Camp NaNo before taking a break which turned into a forever-break. I love writing first drafts, they’re the most fun and freeing – but the rest of the drafts? They actually have to be good and make sense and I struggle with this, lol!
I also made some aesthetics for the story and a Pinterest board! Because procrastination powers.
The Cast
(these descriptions were taken straight from Twitter, which is why my writing is sooo much more casual lol!)
Zinnia Prow: She is a stressy mess (we stan) & a blogger with a rebellious streak wider than her bookshelves. While she has anxiety, she isn’t afraid to stand up to sarcasm or people who are wrong. She would do anything for friends, even fly across the world. She’s the protagonist and the sole POV!
Natalia Moretti: Natalia is one of Zinn’s best friends in the world and is an Italian book blogger! She would rather jump off a cliff than admit she’s wrong and has a very deadpan, sarcastic sense of humor. Has a crush on Austen despite her better judgment and the voice of reason(ish??? barely)
Austen Jacobson: Austen is a Mess and YouTube sensation, BFFs with Zinn and Nat. He rarely gets enough sleep from staying up late drawing or practicing for hockey. Excitable and likely to rush into something without thinking, his home life ain’t great but he’s workin’ on it. dramatic as heckkk
Kyson Jennings: My autumn-obsessed soft boi, Kyson’s the love interest and sarcastic as HECK. He will adamantly deny being Soft if confronted but we know the truth. He’s dEtErMiNeD and has a fear of failure. Zinnia annoys him on a daily basis and it’s a while before they can stand each other ^-^
A few of the other reoccuring characters are Mia, one of Zinnia’s friends throughout all of high school with her but starting to drift away, Poppy, Zinnia’s overly serious younger sister with her feet firmly on the ground instead of head in the clouds, Forest, her older brother in a college two hours away, and Atticus, one of the boys in book club. And the elusive AKinderSea, a popular bookstagrammer who posts fROM her scHOOL?
Basically, all the geekiness.
Sunflowers and Combat Boots
Going to be completely honest and say this title has absolutely nothing to do with the story. I put it in as a placeholder for a Pinterest board and never changed it.
S&CB is about a dysfunctional superhero family who basically kinda accidentally adopts a villain. There’s a lot of arguing, sarcasm, and double-crossing. And – come on, everyone, say it with me – enemies to lovers.
Here’s the aesthetic board and the Pinterest board!
The Cast
(this book has a much bigger cast and rather than one POV and one main character, there’s six or seven!)
Daisy Dean: softest of the soft, very smol bean, easily flustered and also easily annoyed, hobbies include photography and annoying Riley; superpower: hovering a foot off the ground
Riley Lopez: the Most sarcastic, causes his author a lot of internal screaming because he’s very suave and flirty and we all know those are skills I’m lacking, good at fixin’ stuff, hobbies include guitar, skipping school, and equally annoying the heck outta Daisy; superpower: electricity (spoiler alert that’s not actually a spoiler at all: he’s the villain)
Roman Youngsley: very introverted, carries the weight of everyone in the group, can’t have any physical contact due to his power developing too early and causing pain for all those involved, loves drawing but would rather die than show people his art; superpower: invisibility
Ginnie Waters: unapologetically herself, very stubborn and slightly fiery, still enjoys the monkey bars even though she’s twenty and can touch the ground, talks with her hands a lot, works for an anti-Superhero organization and gives the information back to Roman
Trip Hurst: joined the group later than the rest so often overlooked, very soft but sarcastic sense of humor, will do anything for his family even if that means defecting to the other side for information (*cough* not….that it happens ofc *cough*)
A few of the other reoccurring characters are Alexa, the adopted guardian for most of these disaster children who’s Literally The Worst, Kitt, Daisy’s boyfriend (at least at the beginning), Jaxson, Riley’s best friend who’s a terrible influence, and Blackwell, the leader of the group that riots against anti-Superhero movements and also is The Worst.
The whole novel is just a lot of sarcastic banter, wittiness, and probably not enough plot because I’m too busy dealing with the characters personalities. This book will probably never see the light of sun because I’m writing it purely for fun with zero interest in publishing, so that way it can be as trope-y and weird as I please.
So those are my main two projects I’m currently working on, with a couple others happening in the background. There’s a novel I’m lightly plotting with a friend and one in the back of my head I might do for NaNo 2021, but for now my main priority is TFL!
What projects are you working on? What’s your favorite trope to include in your writing? Let me know in the comments! I loveeee reading about story ideas and would absolutely be up to chat about them. Make sure to follow me on Twitter and Instagram for more updates!
