Oumota comic, Part 2
Headcanon - Kaito has nicotine withdrawal during the events of Danganronpa V3 (among other things, what happens to him there). Just a cute little comic

Plot Twist - After finishing the main game (which we all want to believe was a simulation), Tsumugi became so attached to the guys at V3 that she talked Danganronpa's company into launching a spin-off in romcom format in which she would try to bring together the couples most popular with viewers
joke (or maybe not)

Chapter 9 Release Date
Hey all! This isn’t really a proper progress update, but more so an announcement for the official CH9 release!
I’ve gotten to a point in the chapter where I feel confident enough that I’ll be able to make these deadlines, and while I initially hoped for an August release, I have to take into account that the chapter needs time to be beta-read and edited properly. The final wordcount will likely end up surpassing 60k, including the variations, so it will need at least a week or two to be edited properly!
Without further ado, the release dates:
Public release: September 19
Ko-fi subscriber 2 day early access: September 17
Patreon tier 1 early access: September 15
Patreon tier 2 early access: September 12
Patreon tier 3 early access: September 5, my birthday ✨
It may especially be relevant if you were planning on a ko-fi or Patreon pledge for early access, so if any of the other benefits don’t interest you, I’d plan it for September!
As always, thanks so much for your patience and support 💖

wait omg i’m curious about your unpopular thoughts about temenos writing wise.. i love when people discuss octopath writing it’s really enriching to see what we all have to say about certain story elements. plus you’re like a temenos representative to me. your thoughts about temenos make me go “so true!”
Aw, thank you! It took a while for me to decide on what to write here, since honestly I could go on for… frankly any aspect of this guy, especially in regards to treatment in fanon. But for now, I'll focus on my thoughts regarding how people treat tragedy in Temenos' story— namely, Crick's death— and why I personally dislike it as a writing decision and why I disagree with the idea that it is necessary.
Note: Goes without saying, but this is my personal opinion. If you believe otherwise, then that's all good. I'm not writing this to say that any one person is wrong, just to talk about an issue I have with the game's writing itself.
To start, I'll say that my main reason for disliking Crick's death in SH route is a matter of practicality. Killing him off causes Temenos to lose the main person that he had a fantastic relationship and banter with, and in my opinion, Temenos works best when he's bouncing off another person; not unlike most under the Sherlock-archetype.
Also, genuinely? It works wonders to keep Crick alive, if just because it provides a fantastic avenue to explore Temenos' institutional trauma. Having a character that's lived a different experience but within the same harmful institution opens up ways to explore the scope of its harm. And yes, this is for Crick specifically; not Ort, not the travelers, but Crick.
I think it really adds something that Temenos was raised by the church while Crick converted as a teenager during a really difficult time in his life. These two are good for each other. Crick sure as hell makes it a lot easier to write Temenos in fic.
(If you have a different experience, again, that's cool. I'm glad for you. I, however, will never fail to take the easy way out.)
(This is a lie, I'm over here making up fantasy church law for fic stuff but that's not related to this answer.)
I won't pretend that disliking Crick's death is an unpopular opinion. I mean, "Stormhail Fix-it" is an entire genre of fic on the OT2 Ao3 tag. What I do feel tends to go unaddressed though, is the fact that the idea that Crick's death is canon, therefore it is necessary, therefore it is the best decision; an idea that I wholeheartedly disagree with.
Within the text itself, Crick is killed off in order to give Temenos a personal reason to pursue Kaldena, thus putting him at odds with Kaldena's motivations being driven by her ideology and worldview that, "because humans committed the massacre, it was the gods' mistake to put us here". I also won't pretend that Kaldena's writing here isn't fucking awful, because Crick's death is also a device to make the player want Kaldena defeated even though she is just as much as a victim of the church; and that's to say nothing of her portrayal as an indigenous and dark-skinned woman.
These decisions are ones I disagree with. Killing Crick off was unnecessary to give Temenos reason to pursue the culprit, because Temenos already had someone close to him killed; and that's Pontiff Jörg. He raised Temenos from infancy, but due to the lack of focus on him outside of banter conversations, it's never relevant to his motivations outside of the desire for truth because a crime was committed.
We also didn't need to kill Crick off to show that the church was a terrible institution, because Roi already went missing in action. The Sacred Guard is the main body of law within Eastern Solistia, it's not unreasonable to think that the reason why Temenos dislikes them is because they clearly didn't do shit to investigate his disappearance.
However, one thing I really don't agree with is the idea that Crick's death is necessary because Temenos' story is a tragedy. And if you asked me why, I'd ask this in turn: why is death the only form of tragedy? Furthermore, why must a tragedy contain only tragic events? That in mind, what gives anything value in a tragedy, then?
Pretend we cannot completely rewrite Temenos' story. Even then, changing Crick's death to a permanent injury, a coma, or whatever is still a tragic event; and that's nothing to say of living with the consequences. Isn't losing your faith a tragedy? Isn't losing something you worked for years to do a tragedy?
Similarly, I'd still argue that it's more valuable to make Stormhail a near-death experience because not only does it show Temenos succeeding in making someone question the church but also the terror that is feeling like you're doomed to repeat tragedy. Even if you really aren't, it's hard to dismiss that feeling; especially when it has to do with being victimized by institutions.
And before someone says, "but bad things happen to good people in real life", I'm not treating these characters as living, breathing people who are subject to things like gravity, hunger, and exhaustion. I'm treating them as choices, and choices made that I disagree with.
It's why I make different choices. I choose to make Crick have to deal with chronic pain onwards. I choose to make Temenos realize change is still possible. I choose to let them both leave Stormhail alive. Are these better choices? I don't know. But I'll never stop questioning the ones made by the writers regardless; much less stop disagreeing with them.
So, in summary: I dislike Crick's death. I dislike Temenos having to spend the rest of the story without someone he can talk to so easily because Crick's absence weakens a lot of his scenes in Temenos 4. But more than that, I dislike the idea that tragedy is necessary on top of the idea that it is superior. Tragedy's good, I adore the genre; but written in mindful doses and all that.

I think the fact that Ganondorf has suffered so much is what makes him so compelling to me. Fiction is rife with villains who never suffer the consequences of their actions. Gan has had consequences out the wazoo. But he never stops fighting, because his spirit is truly unconquerable. On a related note (sorry, this thing doesn't seem to paragraph very well), I think that gloom is very different from malice. Consider the terminology: malice is the will to do harm, gloom is sorrow and depression.
That is certainly what drew me to him to begin with, as Wind Waker was what completely made me change my mind about him as a character. It took some time, but eventually I started to comprehend, I mean really comprehend the ending, all the things he says to you. Then watching him lose everything and mentally break for the last time before your very eyes.
I realized. He had been so determined, because this one goal was all he had left. He didnt even want the Triforce at the end, he wanted to be rid of it because he was tired. He wanted an ending to this fucked up story.
Then he watched the one thing that would have kept him going get taken from him and was left with nothing. Nothing to go back to and not a friend in the world, because this was not his world at all. He broke down completely for those reasons but also because it was just so predictable, so fucking like fate to do this to him, he couldn't help but see the irony even as his soul was shattered.
He didn't attack Link because he wanted to take these kids down with him (If he did then let's be honest, both link and tetra especially would have died) but he attacked Link because the kid had the one thing in the world that could kill him, and he was ready to use it. Ganon was never the type to just lay down and give up. To the very end, to his suicide, he went down fighting. It was what he wanted. A final wish, I guess, that was ultimately just to die.
I related with that and it hurt so deeply. It still does. I can still barely watch the ending, as much as I love seeing him in action. The ending just breaks me every time. Because for him and his people, everything truly is hopeless.
As for gloom and malice, I can see the discrepancy. They're parts of his strongest negative emotions. I find it kind of fascinating that the malice was the Subconscious (calamity) while the gloom happens when he's actually waking up. Rage and depression go hand in hand with him, really.

caring prompts | not accepting @cvrseduser
it takes a moment to change someone's life; that's a truth yuuta knows too well. a string of these moments had gotten yuuta to where he was today: shadowing his mentor—his savior—at the temple to free people of their stressors—cursed spirits, as geto-sama had called them.
for the first few people who had come in, yuuta attentively watched as the older curse user had kindly heard them out, noting the spirits idly hanging from the people in different places, in different ways. yuuta made a mental note that none of the people were even remotely aware of the clinging creatures. non-sorcerers only knew the pressure and the negative emotions they felt.
when a young woman walks in and states her own issues, geto-sama's welcoming hand gestures to the woman as he encourages yuuta to try it now that he's seen him exorcise a few of the small curses plaguing the lives of these harmless people. the teen is hesitant at first, never having dealt with such small targets, never having worried about another person when it comes to eliminating cursed spirits. he'd usually just fight curses under the supervision of another member of the organization and weaken the spirits enough for rika to bring back to his mentor for his consumption. it was better geto-sama stored them rather than let them roam japan unattended and risking civilian lives.
yuuta relents after his mentor reminds him of his great progress during training, his nonstop practicing, his new ability to release rika at will—his beautiful connection to his lost companion. yuuta feels silly for doubting his own abilities, sheepishly scratching his head with a smile.
"i guess you're right, " he says as he steps up to the lady, who they have learned is a freshman in university and stressed from the ongoing exams. she is also experiencing intense back pain that doctors were unable to treat or diagnose, attributing it to the nonstop studying. yuuta's eyes don't miss the serpent-like spirit wrapped around her waist, possibly flirting with the idea of crushing her entirely one day.
"rika," yuuta calls, his own curse appearing, ready to heed his orders as she always had. "let's help her out, alright?" he asks softly, nodding to the girl with a thumbs up. his smile from earlier finally reaching his eyes.
with this, rika slashes at the cursed spirit, ripping more than just the spirit from the girl. rika had stricken too strong; more than the curse is exorcised. a chunk of the young woman's midsection is gone; her body thuds as it hits the ground. however, with the threat eliminated, rika retires, leaving the scene in just a moment.
for a second, yuuta can't move. he watches as the blood begins to pool around his shoes, white sneakers sullied by red liquid. his breathing is even—silent almost—until it's not.
it dawns on him that the stains are a consequence of his own doing, another innocent life taken by him. the sight of red is his reminder of his crimes against his classmates—his reminder of rika, her lifeless body, her mangled corpse drowned in a puddle of blood. it's too much for him to bear.
silence is soon replaced with panic as his heart begins to pound against his ribcage, his eyes widening as he fixes his gaze beyond his shoes to the woman, now missing a chunk of her body. his arms raise to grip at his own hair, yanking a few strands out in his alarmed state as though bringing pain to him will pull him from some sort of dream—nightmare.
it doesn't.
oh god. this can't be happening—he'd been on such a roll with training. bringing out rika had gone so well over the past month. he'd been able to wield her without casualties among geto-sama and the other members of his organization.
geto-sama!—he'd spent much of his time trying to prove to him and the other curse users—jujutsu sorcerer, as geto called them—that he wasn't just some murderer, that he was someone whose gift would help change the world.
his eyes dart from the woman to his shoes, geto's feet visible in the corner of his eye, red soaking the fabric on his feet. his eyes briefly glance up to his mentor, before returning to the floor as guilt begins to consume him. he thinks he saw the remains of a smile on his teacher's face, but yuuta assumes it's from when he sweetly encouraged the teen to put what he'd learned in training into practice. that thought makes the 16-year-old all the more distraught. he was not making a good case for himself.
yuuta's knees hit the floor as he pushes his hands against the woman's open flesh, a futile attempt at stopping the outpour of blood from spilling any further.
"i—" yuuta begins, voice shakey, yet loud at the same time. tears begin to well in the corner of his eyes. "i didn't mean to—rika just—she missed. she didn't mean to—i didn't mean to kill her."
"i'm sorry; i'm sorry—"
his plead abruptly stops as he feels a gentle squeeze on his shoulder. he jerks up at the sudden contact, reflexively peering over his shoulder. his mentor's calm voice breaks through the turbulence.
❛  it's okay. i've got you. you're safe now.  ❜
this time, yuuta doesn't hesitate to look up at geto-sama. yuuta is not exactly calm, but he does feel relief that it seems as though his mentor understands that it was a mistake and isn't mad. although he is reassured, it doesn't stop yuuta from trembling as he presses against the open wound. "it's not. i just hurt her. she's bleeding—she's gone," he explains quickly, as though geto has the solution to this situation.
yet, at the back of yuuta's mind, he knows any advice doesn't change what happened at that moment.

Do you have any good Jonsasha fic recommendations? In line with your lovely posts about them?
Unfortunately Jonsasha that isn't poly//chives is thin on the ground. There's a few cute fics that I recced here but for dual archivists/eldritch js? There's jon/michael/sasha this series (which I'll admit looks VERY promising, and I keep meaning to get to it) and this fic but I haven't gotten around to either of them yet so I can't speak to their quality.
The only fic that I've read that came close to giving the JS vibes I'm so hungry for is this Jon//michael fic, which has one specific line that haunts me to this day: “'Once upon a time, a man named Jonathan Sims fell in love with his Archivist, Sasha James, and in trying to save her life, gave the world to the Beholding on a silver platter.'” (I hope if you decide to read the fic that this isn't too spoilery? I'm not sure what I'd think of it now that my TMA opinions have shifted so much from what they originally were, but I remember I quite enjoyed it at the time). I know it probably isn't quite what you're looking for but when I think Jonsasha I think of That One Singular Line. I hope I can make it haunt someone else the way it haunts me.

≈ — MALIK MOSLEY — he/they — RADIO HOST
For the amount that the citizens of Signal Hill hear his voice, not many people are familiar with Malik. Sure, people feel familiar with him. His low tones introduce the music of the day and speak of hobbies and pastimes the passersby know intimately, and the way he speaks to the mic like an old friend has created a bond between him and them. But they know him. He's never met them. Or many people, for that matter.
Ever since he was young, Malik was fascinated by technology- taking it apart, remixing it, finding way to breathe new life into the decaying husks of old machines. It's no wonder, then, that he retreated so thoroughly into the world of radio. It's as much anonymous as it is celebrity. A perfect contradiction.
Gender: Trans man Sexuality: Bisexual Relationship option? Yes
Appearance Few have ever gotten to see Malik in person, at least since he retreated into secrecy. An air of mystery has arisen around it. In truth, that mystery isn't very warranted. A little on the shorter side, with soft dark skin and sad eyes, the first thing that comes to mind when you see him is a puppy. He's got a bit of peach fuzz on his chin and a pair of big round glasses, though his face is often partially obscured by long, loose locs dyed a dark green gradient. When his mic is live, however, his demeanour seems to change entirely- a self-assured young man emerging from his meek exterior.

"What if they kissed?" @question-marked
Send “What if they kissed?” and I’ll write a scene where our muses kiss, even if they aren’t shipped together. it is it’s own thing and doesn’t have to lead to an official ship. a “what if scenario” @question-marked
"Why the curious countenance? Don't say that you were beginning to doubt me, my dear."
River smirks at that. He looks like the cat that caught the canary clear, and why wouldn't he? Whatever 'magic' Eddie concocted in that room, whatever he nabbed, he did it smooth as butter was soft; It was always such a treat to witness, even when assigned the task of 'door duty' on these little ventures they shared. But fate is one fickle fiend of a creature, and there's no time to bask in the glow of a job well done on this night. Not when the sound of hurried strides and harsh mutterings rise high above distant music, from the gala they'd absconded from earlier.
It's the worst kind of hand to be dealt. Room's at a dead-end hall, and they're dressed for dinner and dancing; not the kind requiring the limberness needed should alarm be raised. But there's a resolve to River, even as she turns and presses a bewildered him against the now-closed door, eyes flashing with silent plea to listen for once.
"...I'm sorry." The apology is hushed, hesitance in red-nailed fingers that curl into a fine silk shirt, "I-... Need you to trust me on this, alright? Just follow my lead and improvise, it'll be fine."
Closer now, enough to see the sparkle of her eyeshadow. She can see that Eddie understands, feel it in building hum-drum buzz, and the way he relaxes. "Close your eyes, and think of someone else if you have to. But whatever you do, we have to make it look good."
Tumblr media
Such was last thing said, before their lips finally met. Tentative tasting, awkwardness that bleeds into instinct, into something resembling hunger before long. Somewhere along the way his hands managed to find that space where waistline meets hip, access to fist sequined fabric and tear a hitched sound between kisses as he drags her closer still. A deepness River's all-too eager to meet, with arms that rise to slip around his neck.
They make it look good, and as they do, lines quickly begin to blur.
"Hey-... Hey, lovebirds!" Came the indignant cry, "Don't you know this area's off-limits to guests? Go do that crap somewhere else!"
Blinding light from a flashlight is what finally ends their heated embrace. This guard sounds exasperated, maybe they weren't the first pair caught getting lascivious in a dark corner; but it sure sounded like he wanted them to be the last. Good. River was betting on that. A bit of hotheaded anger makes for pliable putty, so long as one presses the right spots.
"Goodness, I'm sorry, sir!" River purrs, flashing her prettiest smile, "We were on our way out, honest... It's just when those drinks start to flow the hands start to wander, you know? Couldn't help ourselves."
Two individuals, breathless and disheveled, and looking so very smug. Oh, it's a sight that annoys, she can tell; and that beat between felt so nail-bitingly long.
"...Five minutes." Mr. Security says at last, with a sneer that screams they should appreciate this, "You have five. Minutes. Both of you better be out of this hall by the time I come back around, got it?"
Crystal. River would've answered as much too, but the grouch's back was already a wall, presented as he turned-tail. Off to terrorize some other hapless party-goers no doubt, but that's fine... That's fine.
"...Come-on darling, the coast is clear." Gaze lowers, a thumb reaches high to brush a stray bit of red still smudged along his lower lip. Heat remains to be sure, but River flees from it with a gesture of the head.
"I think we need to steal an actual drink or two, before we vamoose."

❛ may i have this dance? ❜
It wasn't often that Bee found herself a guest at a party, rather than the host, but Bee had to give credit where it was due, these Overlords sure could throw a fancy shindig. The party might not've been up to Beelzebub's standards, but so far, everything had been fine - the food was delicious, the alcohol was flowing steady, and the music playing fit the atmosphere, classic and timeless. Not exactly her type of scene, but a party was a party, and who was she to judge? Especially when it meant unlimited access to foods, which was always a plus. She'd just shoved another prosciutto-wrapped date onto her little hors d'oeuvres plate when she heard it - a sweet-sounding voice coming from behind her. May I have this dance?
Tumblr media
"Hmm? Sure, sweetie! Let me just put this down and- Fizzlesticks?"
Bee couldn't keep the surprise out of her voice or off her face as she looked down at the little jester, who - now that she got a good look - only somewhat resembled her friend. Pink eyes widened as she realized this wasn't Fizzarolli - she was looking at one of Mammon's creations. A Fizzbot, that's what they were called. Her cheeks heated up in embarrassment and she lowered her head just a bit, "Sorry about that, honey. It's just you look a lot like someone I know, and I wasn't expecting... well, it doesn't matter." One of her hands waved through the air, brushing the words she wanted to say away. "Um... still want that dance?"
