this piece I did for mermay in 2019, is very simple but I still love it very much

The open shot of this comic page, truth be told the background is mostly traced from a screenshot because I felt like 5% confident with doing backgrounds but I like the way I rendered this (this was my header image for so long)

This screenshot redraw I did for my femHiccup AU (I did it as a study to get more used to drawing backgrounds, I did a few more with httyd screenshots and I'm still very proud of all of them, but this one is my fave)

made up a group of edwardian-era hockey girls, Heavily inspired by the many wintery late 19th/early 20th century photos i processed in an archive over the summer. at some point, i decided their team would be called "the hail raisers".

#it's all about texture texture texture #i'm very bad at modeling old handwriting. but just bc i've seen a lot of old handwriting doesn't mean i can replicate it :/#also- technically the vast Vast majority of any photos pre 1930 (that i worked with) were explicitly black and white #but we're gonna pretend this is some super faded autochrome!! which works bc i LOOOOVE autochrome <3<3<3 #the things i'm most proud of here are 1) the gloves and 2) the personality shining through each girl #they're bruised and bloody and gap toothed and they're ready for more!#my art #artists on tumblr #edwardian era #edwardian art #hockey #also this is more for me but- gap toothed girl is clara #alma's the formal looking one (with a crooked nose). lenore's looking dazed and confused. and dolores at the bottom right is out for blood #(also i'm preemptively blaming any 'off' proportions on the fact that they're wearing bulky sorta-oversized winter clothes)#(also also- drawing old fashioned hair was fun. they kinda just did whatever as long as it's in a particular shape)#(also also also- i enjoyed drawing injuries. for better or worse i think of 'injuries' whenever i think 'hockey'.#now. would you photograph edwardian-era girls beat up to hell? idk. but check out the 1890s princeton students post-snowball fight photo!)

They fall on the snow (It's okay guys the snow is very soft) This is my favoritest one and the one I did within an hour during accountingjfndkfna

HC Azul doesn't need clothes that are that warm because he's said himself he and the tweels don't get cold as easily

#The idea for the last one had me in a chokehold that's why I did it so quickly #They're having fun 🤧#Also I See the Light is playing rn and it just feels so warm #Anyway to criticizing my drawings #Not very proud of azul in the first one I COULD MAKE IT BETTER IF I WAS ON DIGITAL #But honestly otherwise I'm happy <3 #And that's actually what I wear during winter. My jacket is very puffy and slightly big on me #But it's fine because I can hide my hands in my sleeves and it's so much better than hiding them in my pockets #Also. I wanted to do a personal piece, so I drew myself as Shepard as they've been my motivation and inspiration for fighting on, the blood representing real life scars from surgeries. I also wanted to reflect this as this video alone means just as much to me as the entire series does and is where the phrase comes from. Thank you, Bioware, for Mass Effect -- for everything.
