After seeing the genuine remorse in my eyes, Mike let me go. I knew it was stupid, but I lied to protect both of us from the truth. Even though he claimed he wasn't mad, I knew there was no way he'd take it lightly. I guess this is my karma for what I did to Dana. I deserved everything that's come to me...Except what happened next.

"I know you're sorry, but do you understand the position you put me in!? Publicly, I look like a fuckin fool! For someone with a Tech degree, you ain't that bright." *pulls out his phone* "Look at this shit!" *grabs her face again*

I wasn't sure if I should do this chronologically, or in order of how much I've simped for these people, so let's just get to it:

P.S.: you'll get kudos (and maybe candy) if you pick up on the common themes here.

1. Zuko - ATLA

He was my first fictional crush.

I would write self insert fic about him (which never saw the light of AO3 thankfully), and I would rewatch all of ATLA just to his character go from "I can fix him" brat to adorkable edgy brat.

2. Bill Cipher - Gravity Falls

He had what I at the time called the "sexy British accent". I never even joined the school of thought "he'd burn the whole world down but me". I was chill with burning.

3. Bucky Barnes - MCU

And the bad boy parade continues. I firmly believed that I could fix him, and going back to the (once again thankfully unpublished) self insert slash fics of the time, I realise that I had no idea what in him needed fixing.

4. John Hancock - Fallout 4

Nothing makes me fall harder for a sad meow meow than him going "I'm gonna stop bugging you with my problems, I know I'm too fucked up to love".

I have a save file right before that convo, and I like to revisit it every so often.

5. Egor Serling - Deathloop

While on the topic of sad meow meows, let me introduce you to mister "I've been invisible my whole life 🥺". He's pathetic and slightly unhinged, what is there not to love? ( y/n in my fic about him agrees).

6. David Sarif - Deus Ex

It's hard to pick only one character from the DX games, but I think "Daddy Sarif", as I affectionately call him whenever he's brought up in conversation, belongs here.

He is rich, smart, and believes the illuminati want to tear down his company (and has 0 evidence to back that up).

7. Crosshair - Clone Wars: the Bad Batch

A sad meow meow, a bad boy, and white hair? Can a man be more perfect? Well he's also a sniper ...

He's like Egor, but he'll talk back when you tell him to get on his knees, you know?

8. Billie Lurk - Dishonored

You know the jist by this point, sad, with questionable morals, daddy issues, and missing an arm.

My favourite thing about her is how she goes "this is a robbery" with an audible smirk, as she robs a bank. And also that she kept the creepy art project her girlfriend gave her a decade ago. How sweet is that?

I need to write a self-insert x her fic. But I don't have any Dishonored OCs :/

9. Alyx Vance - Half Life

She was my first girl crush. And I still remember the exact moment I went "damn that chick is cool". It was shortly after reuniting with Barney, when I had to shoot my way through some stupid combine stronghold, and Alyx just crawled through the vents and waited for me on the other side.

(She is the reason I have £500 saved to one day buy a VR set)

10. Bo-Katan Kryze - the Mandalorian (no this isn't cheating, it's a different sub-fandom XP)

Is she just a mommy version of Alyx? Maybe. But the Mandalorian (the TV series), sure helped with the popularity of her character... (I'm talking about that one ass scene).

She also has that sad kitty side to her, when she sits alone in her massive space castle after all her friends have left her.

and while theyre trying to tear each other's throats out (fight to the death for the hand of the maiden kinda thing), Yoko comes in like 'um wtf is happening'

Wednesday's like 'gtfo vampire' but Phoebe and Tara are like 'Yoko tell them that I'm clearly the better choice for Enid, you would know cuz ur her bestie'

and then they fight again but Yoko's like 'ok homosexuals shut the FUCK up'

then goes on and talks abt how each is good for Enid but also talks about how theyve hurt her too

and then is like 'My girl deserves nothing but the best love this world can offer, because she's been lacking it her whole goddamned life cuz of her stupid family! Even though she can settle for less (like wayyyy less) than the bare minimum, I won't! You three better get your shit together or else you can say bye-bye to your blood.'

and theyre like 'yes ofc we know Enid deserves the best and more which is why I should be her partner'

but then Yoko's like 'since my girl deserves all the love possible, why don't you just like... go into a polyamorous relationship? That way, you can all have her and she gets to be showered in all the love and adoration everyday, you fucking simps'

im not sure what exactly the initial reaction would be, just that they would think it over and agree bc they want Enid to be happy and maybe she'll be happy if she gets love x3

i think Wednesday would at first be like 'thats stupid' but then she thinks more on it and is like 'ok fine anything for my sun'

as for Phoebe and Tara umm idk i've never seen the movies theyre in so i dont know how to write them or what the personality is outside of what ive read on ur blog but they'll agree

and then they all get together and live happily evr after the end

2. a character whose POV you're currently exploring

Looker except he's fighting me every step of the way lololol. I don't know what it is, but there's some characters that are just... very hard for me to click with when they're the main character, and for whatever reason it seems like Looker's one of them. I want to strangle him and throw him off the roof fijrqhegrqe with love but still.

I really like him but I guess I've never been too invested in him? Like he's neat. And in the fic I'm trying to write him in, UnBlinking, I have a really solid idea of his backstory, what he wants, and where he ends up. But personality-wise he just keeps coming up a little blank for me. :( I think he knows I'm a Team Rocket simp. I think he doesn't want to work with me bc I will go running to tell the blorbos his plans... looker babygirl please.... i just want to dribble you like basket ball....

(not spoilers) basically for UnBlinking his big motivation is that a) he's an orphan, his older sister tried to raise him herself after their parents died, but she died/was killed under mysterious circumstances in Lumiose and her case was never solved, b) he loved detective shows growing up and clung harder to them after his sister passed, because he liked to imagine that his heroes would be able to solve the case of her death. The circumstances do in some ways involve UBs, and Nanu was also in the area at the time, which is what's supposed to bring them together, but like... idk. I'm struggle bussing here friendo. :( oh well.

And for the Tiger & Bunny Girlies, you know it's my dramatic shed-dwelling son, Yuri Petrov (sunglasses emoji with finger guns)

I really wish in the series/movies they had explored his relationship with Mr. Legend POST-LEGEND-DEATH a little bit more tbh. The one scene where he brought it up with Tiger showed a lot of vulnerability, and as he works through his trauma and becomes a better caretaker to his mother, something interesting we see is like. This sort of distance he puts between himself and the monument of Mr. Legend? Idk. I know he had that little moment of satisfaction when the Legend statue got super bonked but the fact that he doesn't make a point of undermining the idea of Mr. Legend in Stern Bild suggests that his feelings about Mr. Legend as a Hero and Mr. Legend as his father are like. really complex. and that's a lot of fun to play with.

Also Barnaby because he's a mess A MESS. he comes in a very closed 2nd for Most Dramatic Man in Stern Bild and the only reason for that is the extra points Yuri gets for the murder shed.

when i tell you, tsundere seungcheol and y/n have horrible narratives because they're both in fight, flight, freeze during their scenes-

but Joshua, Gyu and Jeonghan are a joy to write-

this fic is going to be such a dumpster fire-

like- how do we go from this:

“You slept in,” Seungcheol finds himself stating. “We weren’t sure we’d bump into you today.”

“Right…” you trail off, giving Seungcheol a quick once over before your eyes return to Mingyu, and an easy smile works its way across your face again, “Have you been skiing long? I mean, I get the feeling that I’m the only person on the trip who doesn’t have much experience with all of this- you guys all brought your own skis.”

“Yeah, we’re all big snow sports people,” Mingyu tells you. “Seungcheol was actually almost an olympic level snowboarder-”

“Really?” Now you’re looking at Seungcheol. Really looking at him. “But… you brought skis?”

“He’d be much too fast on his board,” Mingyu grins. “Skis slow him down, make him level with the rest of us. But, he’s still pretty good at skiing too.”

“Could give you a few pointers if you want,” Seungcheol says, earnestly. 

He’d gotten a good look at what you were doing wrong before they approached you, and a few minor tweaks would have you skiing with the best of them-

“Erm, thanks, but no thanks, I think I’m good learning at my own pace for now.” 

He notes the way you avert your eyes, upper lip curling slightly with disdain. 

He should have never bothered to offer you help. 

Seungcheol takes a deep breath. “You two are probably more compatible for your level, and I want to do some harder runs. I’ll see you around.”

And with that, he leaves you and Mingyu, taking off down the mountain at a speed his friends can only dream of.

Sitting in his mother’s hotel room, watching her do the final touches on her wedding look, Joshua is struck with memories of the past.

There’d been many mornings growing up where he’d sat on the closed lid toilet, watching her brush through her hair, sometimes braiding it, before taking him and Jeonghan to school.

In the quiet of their small apartment bathroom, nothing could come between them, not Jeonghan whining for whatever reason, nor the angry father who’d disappeared from the picture when the boys had turned ten.

To Joshua, the moment feels like peace, or at least, as close to it as he’s ever come.

He can tell, by the way his mom smiles when she looks at herself in the mirror, that she’s truly happy, and it’s all he’s ever wanted for her. 

The moment is fleeting, as Jeonghan enters the room and brings with him a certain level of chaos, the kind of windswept mayhem that follows him everywhere, like a moving storm.

like- this is literally cheol every time he sees y/n

so help me god this fic is already like 5k words, and i've only done 7 of 24 scenes-

if this ends up being another cheol fic that's close to 20k i think i might riot and try to run away from him

i might have to give simp joshua a spin off cuz he's literally stealing my heart in this fic

Well, I’m immensely disappointed that the SDC was taken down the way it was,

Weiss don’t have to find some way to work around the system, or better yet ohelp Faunus workers dismantle that system and get rid of Jacques,

Jacques just worked for Salem having Weiss a convened excuse to arrest him, then Salem just destroyed all of atlas and almost definitely the SDC as well

The kingdom and company responsible for adam’s brand and the deaths of Ilia’s parents are both gone thanks entirely to Salem,

I’m also actually not looking forward to Ghirardelli show up because I just do not like the guy

I already did,ike that he’s far too passive compared to someone like sienna who was out there kicking ass and robing the SDC

But it’s specifically his words in the Adam trailer that make me think he’s a horrible fit

When adam kills that human who tried to kill ghirah, ghirah says “this is why they think they can-“ before getting cut off by sienna

ghirah, the humans ALREADY tried to kill you simply for existing in their general vicinity! Adam killing this guy in self defense does not in any way “justify” their bigotry,

And if they use it as a justification for their bigotry? That is THEIR fault, not Adam’s, and of course it ignores the fact they where already trying to kill him without any justification whatsoever!

Adam turned out to be a complete bastard but in this scene? Ghirah is in the fucking wrong

And yet the show just………ignores this? It treats it like we’re supposed to be happy he’s in charge again, and everybody so executed to see the bees meet the parents despite this whole fuckinf mess attached to him!

Hell at the beginning of volume 6 we learned being the “good minority” and stopping Adam made the humans like Faunus more apparently

Which reinforces the incredibly harmful ideas of respectability politics, the idea that if oppressed groups simp,y “behave” or “act right”their oppressors will reward them by treating them right, something thats entirely untrue, and ghirah as far as we’ve been shown seems to buy into that whole idea,

Even tho marrow’s entire arc is living proof of how it doesn’t work

And then there’s Ilia, working for Adam was wrong and I’m glad she broke free, but as far as I can tell she’s just following ghira’s lead instead now,

Land all of this just makes it harder for me to like Blake overall, because like it,or not she’s deeply connected to that whole plotline and as far as we’ve been shown, isn’t all that different from ghira, she’s broken the law sure but only for the sake of stopping Salem

We haven’t seen her doing anything like sienna did on robbing the SDC,

Many argue it’s because the show doesn’t have time to do a plot,one of Blake going up against the SDC and they’re probably right,

But what now? Is she gonna fight the atlas refugees in vacuo? When ghira’s militia aready holds more power then them?

Okay, quite a lot to unpack here lol. I think I'll probs start by saying, I'm probably not in a place to comment on the socio-political issues around race when it comes to the WF subplot, I've seen a lot of different takes on it and while I can say with certainty that it never really sat right with me, the best I can do is listen to the voices who are personally affected.

In terms of the SDC, I don't think we've seen the last of it - Whitley took over and while Atlas has fallen, they likely had mines and outlets across Remnant so it'll be interesting to see what happens when they get back to Vacuo.

I genuinely think that as far as Blake's activism is involved - so far there just hasn't been space for it recently, like rn they're in a different world, prior to that they were fighting against a tyrant, and they have a bit of a time crunch against Salem. That's not to say I don't think it'll come back, I think the fact that the idea of being a bridge between humans and faunus was brought up against her younger self, I can see the fact that Blake is now in a relationship with a human and on a team/best friends with Weiss Schnee, being important in building that bridge and repairing the damage SDC and the segregation has done. Whether we'll see it anytime soon is another question. Guess we'll see how Volume 10 goes, huh?

Lastly, I can see some of your points against Ghira - namely, not fighting back when the humans weren't letting up. I think that the humans in that instance left him with no choice but to defend himself, but I think his preferred method would have been to disarm them rather than kill them. I do think Ghira's approach might be a little different going forward but I think the main thing to remember is that while Sienna was more effective in making some progress and Adam ruled with violence and killing while Ghira was initially very passive, Sienna was in a grey area, and Adam was... well, extremist. The WF's original purpose was to achieve equality between the species, but fear and submission isn't the same as equity. It'll be interesting to see if he can strike up a more collaborative approach with the humans.

Personally, I think that the new WF and uniting humans and faunus against Salem might actually end up being key in the 'big fight' if the two brothers get called upon. I hope that this includes Blake and Yang at the helm of a new WF or something too, it'll be nice to see Blake step into that leadership role.

Things I will never understand: complexity of man films/media

I learned recently that movies like " The Boy in the Striped pyjamas" and the most recent one "Oppenheimer" and shows (I think it was a show) like Jeffery Dhamer were made to enforce some sort of sympathy or pity for men who made terrible choices by showing that they were human too. And they struggled with their morals because of what they did.

Or at least something along those lines.

Now I've only seen "boy in the striped pyjamas" and multiple times because I never cried and apparently everyone cried during that movie. I didn't cry because I didn't feel pity for the parents. The father was a Nazi and he killed many children and with pride. The mother turned a blind eye to what was happening in and around her house. The only moment I remember her doing something was during the grandmothers funeral and after that one attempt she bit her tongue and let the note stay.

They thought what a lot of people thought at the time. "It's ok because it's not happening to me" but until faced with consequences do they realize the gravity of how wrong and sometimes even then, they don't accept the full extent of how it should never be done.

From what I know about Oppenheimer the man though, he felt guilty but he made a scene about it. He knew everyone would remember him for being the creator, he knew it was wrong to build a weapon of mass destruction-BUT he made it. And he made it possible to make more.

He had control of what damage could be made and he decided to make turn that dial to 100. He made a scene out of his guilt so it'll be harder to make him a villain. But he is and he will always be the reason two cities that held civilians are decimated.

If a movie makes you sympathize with a bad guy, then congrats on the movie for being that compelling but why would you do that?

These people are villains that impacted the world. Yes they were all children and each grew up with circumstances that might've greatly influenced and pushed them to make these choices. But that doesn't warrant pitiful excuses to not judge them harshly.

I guess my question that remains is: why is it easy to pity white men who did atrocious crimes

And one request I have is that the next movie better not be about Cortez or Columbus. And Heaven forbid that any of y'all simp over them.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

Who let the title of this movie get so damn long?

Here we go again. Another post-Endgame, superhero film capping off a trilogy of movies featuring a loved lead character. If only Thor took notes and ended at a trilogy too, maybe the Marvel franchise wouldn't seem so tired and exhausting at this point. I myself am nearing the end of my rope when it comes to watching new installments in another phase of Marvel. The last notches on the belt I've been looking forward to were Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 3 and, due to my own love for the lead character and actor, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantamania.

I feel like I've always been a fan of Paul Rudd. I don't even remember the first movie I saw him in, but I had to have immediately loved him and kept that same energy over the years. It doesn't hurt that he never had a real drop-off either. Looking back through his acting career, he hit the ground running with Clueless three years after his first credit (I haven't seen it, but people like it and I trust he was great in the movie). Then he hits you with Wet Hot American Summer, what used to be a cult hidden classic until Netflix brainwashed everyone into thinking that it was a star-maker when it was released.

He's a key, hilarious figure in one of my favorite comedies all-time Anchorman, a long running guest star on Friends, simps his way through 40 Year Old Virgin, dips a toe in Knocked Up, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Role Models, I Love You Man, etc. etc. The list goes on and on. My favorite Paul Rudd moment is in one of his more mediocre films funnily enough, Wanderlust. The scene where Rudd hypes himself up to a mirror before expecting to hook up with Malin Akerman's character made me laugh harder than I ever had before. Whether it's a cameo, a guest starring role, or being a leading man, Paul Rudd has given us countless performances and years that are laugh out loud funny and memorable.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is the third installment in the Ant Man story and the i-can't-keep-count-how-many movies in the Marvel saga. Scott Lang has been through a lot coming into this movie. He's been to prison, defeated his mentor's protégé and came to terms with Bobby Cannavale marrying his ex-wife, a phasing supervillain and a trip to and from the Quantum Realm (I had to look up the synopsis for Ant-Man and the Wasp because I remembered very little from it despite enjoying it), the blip from Endgame which aged his daughter to a teenager, and the threat of Thanos. The thousand plotlines of the Marvel universe are becoming tired at this point, and you really don't have to remember every little detail, but these events converge and lead us to this new, and hopefully last, adventure for Paul Rudd in the superhero multiverse.

At the start of Ant-Man and the Wast: Quantumania, Scott is living a B-list celebrity life, having meals comp'd by businesses unsure which Avenger he is, slipping in as many Baskin Robbins' plugs as he can, and relishing in his newly released book The Little Things or Don't Count Out the Little Man or whatever little pun they made. His daughter Cassie is an activist rebel for good who also has somehow caught herself up on quantum physics with the help of Hank and Janet Pym (Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer). A convenient point as Cassie has been building a device that can map out and contact the Quantum Realm. Janet Pym loses her shit when she hears of this device and, when attempting to deactivate it, ends up getting the whole clan sucked back into the Quantum Realm. Oh what sights they will see and unusual characters they will meet.

The opening moments are okay enough, there are a couple laughs delivered by Paul Rudd's narration and odd family dynamic, but there is one problem that begins to present itself and sustains throughout the whole movie: the film has no soul. I don't know what it is, these characters I personally really liked and was interested in from the first two movies and Avenger appearances fall flat and seem generic and frankly uninteresting in moments. I should care what happens to these people, but I just didn't. I guess the positive I can glean from the opening is they get to the Quantum Realm rather quickly.

Scott and Cassie (The Langs) get split up from Hope, Hank, and Janet (The Pyms) and each try to find their way back to each other for a decent chunk of the movie's midsection. The Langs battle a couple amoeba and sun monsters before being captured by a group of humanoids and creatures. The Pyms follow Janet on a quest to find someone who can lead them back to reunite with The Langs.

The biggest issue I had when our group of heroes are dropped in the Quantum Realm that lasted throughout the runtime of the movie is the fact that every background, setting, action piece, etc. is computer generated. Obviously I understand you cannot reasonably create most of these effects practically, but when every single rock and speck of dust is CGI the movie loses its texture and I find it hard to emotionally connect as much to people interacting in front of a green screen in a studio. That has always been an issue with Marvel films, but feels like ever since they dove into the multiverse pool it has grown more and more evident.

Scott is dragged into an encampment at night (is there technically a day and night in a Quantum Realm?) where all these crazy creatures circle around him giving the impression he is about to be tortured or killed. Cassie runs into the scene out of nowhere, a red liquid dripping around her mouth, and urges Scott to "drink the ooze". Alright, am I the only one that felt this scene was eerily similar to Star Wars: Episode 6 at the Ewok village? Yes? Okay then, I'll move past it. Scott drinks this red ooze the creatures give him and suddenly he's able to understand the many languages they all speak. They tell him they are rebels against this unnamed 'Conqueror' and he is definitely going to be searching for Scott and Cassie being newcomers to the realm.

The rebels are pretty generic characters. You have the female warrior with a cool staff that disintegrates foes (a lot of disintegration in this movie) but otherwise has no personality, a brute with a sun head with no other discernable personality, and an ooze creature obsessed with how many holes everyone has (I'm not joking) who I guess has a goofy personality, and then just cannon fodder all around.

Meanwhile, the Pyms barter for a manta ray looking thing that allows them to travel to what looks like a hotel rooftop bar to meet a mysterious figure from Janet's past when she was stuck in the Quantum Realm. Turns out, it's Bill Murray. I read a report that Bill Murray was really interested in joining the Marvel franchise, but you could never tell from his performance in this movie. I mean, this guy is SLEEPWALKING through his role. It felt to me that he was on set for a day, maybe two at most, and maybe had a Benadryl or two because he is snoozed out. Anyway, he reveals Janet used to be in a romantic relationship with him but instead of helping the Pyms he has sold them out to the 'Conqueror'.

The Pyms escape, and while on the way to find The Langs, Janet finally comes clean on her past in the Quantum Realm. She found a man named Kang (The Conqueror) who she thought crashed in the Quantum Realm and needed to repair his ship's core which would allow them to escape back to the real world. Janet helped him find the formula to recharge the core, but when they install it and she touches the fully powered ship, she glimpses into Kang's mind and sees that he was actually banished to the realm after going on a conquering spree where he murdered billions of people across different multiverses and timelines. She used the Ant-Man tech to explode the ship's core to a magnificent size which stranded Kang.

The rebel camp housing Scott and Cassie is found out and attacked by the Conqueror's minions and the duo are eventually captured by a flying, mechanical death machine with a golden face and miniature arms and legs. Yes, that's right, miniature arms and legs. So let's talk about MODOK...

I can't lie, the first time MODOK (Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing) pops his helmet off and reveals the stretched out face of Corey Stoll, I laughed. It is inarguably a funny sight and gag for a movie that is inherently supposed to be a comedy. Paul Rudd is at his comedic best in the moments when he talks with MODOK since he can play the 'holding back a laugh or joke' face extremely well. However, I think they go back to the gag waaaaaay too many times and it would have been better served for MODOK to have his helmet down more often than not to keep him menacing and seemingly dangerous. Instead, you never feel anyone is in real danger when he's around because of how ridiculous he looks.

Scott and Cassie are locked up when they first meet Kang the Conqueror, who details to them his master devious plan to shrink his ship's core to normal size with Scott's help, escape the Quantum Realm, and continue his conquering ways. Scott of course refuses, but upon threat of his daughter's death, he relents rather quickly and agrees to help. I do want to make a quick note that I love Jonathan Majors and think he plays a great character in Kang the Conqueror, perfectly captured in the Loki series, and if I wasn't so tired of this franchise I would be looking forward to seeing him more. Alas, I will stick to watching the upcoming second season of Loki and likely bail out from the rest.

Scott's mission is to shrink himself down to find the core of the massive ship's power core (yes, a core of a core) which creates what they call a "Probability Storm". How do I remember the term? Because they repeat it like six times in a five minute sequence. Scott beings to multiply into different versions of himself that would have existed had he made different choices in life, similar to the paradox of Schrödinger’s box and cat. However, we don't get wildly different versions of Scott, rather a million copies of the same version asking what is going on. Oh, and one in a Baskin Robbins uniform, a company that must be bankrolling these films for how much they reference it in a two hour runtime. It stopped being funny the last movie, enough already.

After enduring this sequence, Scott is able to shrink down the ship's core, but is betrayed by Kang (shocker) who steals the core without freeing Cassie and shuffles away to his grand kingdom to prepare to leave the Quantum Realm. The Langs and Pyms regroup, Hank reveals that a few of his ants were also sucked into the Quantum Realm, and prepare themselves to storm Kang's empire city. Something something something, they rouse the rebels in the realm, who cares who cares who cares, and they get to the city with Scott growing himself to a giant size and he breaks down the walls to Kang's kingdom.

Scott Lang and the gang (why hadn't I used that term before now?) face off against Kang and his millions of minions until they finally prevail when Hank Pym's ant army come to the rescue in a pretty cool ending battle. You see a glimpse of Kang's power as he disintegrates fleeing rebels, although conveniently doesn't kill the one with the cool staff as I'm sure they'll get some half-assed Disney+ show out of her, before he is overpowered by the army of ants and eventually destroyed along with his ship's power core.

And here we find two major issues I have with the ending of this movie:

Kang is defeated by ants

Kang the Conqueror is supposed to be the next baddie that will stretch the next several Marvel films in the same vein as Thanos. They spend the whole movie alluding to and then explaining that Kang has innumerable variants (clones, basically) across timelines but this version was so ruthless and awful that the others banished him down to the Quantum Realm. In my mind, he should be the one leading this multi-movie onslaught of trouble for the next generation of Avengers. And yet, he is defeated by Ant-Man, The Wasp, a teenage girl, and two older scientists with telepathic ants. How am I supposed to believe that this guy, or his clones, pose any threat to a collection of superheroes when he can't beat a couple of the lesser ones?

2. Scott's "Sacrifice" is immediately worthless

I thought the ending of this movie may actually work well and be impactful when Scott and Hope seemingly stay behind in the Quantum Realm to keep Kang from escaping despite the rest of their family jumping through a portal to the real world. However, after destroying Kang, it takes all of 20 seconds for the portal to be re-opened and Scott and Hope to escape. I don't know if they're planning on making more Ant-Man movies (I hope they don't) or keeping Paul Rudd around to pop up in future stuff as a cameo (I won't see it if he happens), but it would have been a perfect way to wrap up the character by having him live in this world with Hope. Instead, they ruin it and there is no emotional moment at the end of this after all.

Overall, I'm pretty much done with Marvel and this movie did nothing to reinvigorate my desire to stick with this universe through another dozen films, although I think the negative reviews around it are a little much and more representative of Marvel exhaustion rather than it being a terrible movie. The film is okay, but I wouldn't shit on it. The best word to describe it, and a word I've come to love in the last couple years, is Meh.

She-Hulk Episode 5

I wasn't going to mention this but it's bothering me too much now.

She's not green enough. I know, I know, that's nitpicking but it just looks like a filter in some scenes versus others, mainly when she's in the light, she could be just any CGI woman with a slightly off tint. Again, it's only sometimes because in a later scene in the courtroom, she's quite green and sticks out better. (Those poor VFX artists don't deserve a lick of blame though, this is the company's fault)

Now the idea of this episode is that she's played the attorney, now it's time for her to play the defendant. She's getting sued. By Titania no less, not a fan personally. Not so much in the comics either but that version is still better than this. Also I mentioned how they make fun of not liking the name but this is taking it to a whole other level and making it a plot-point, the amount of times I've seen that clip replayed of her on the news is a running gag at this point.

Her dating profile also becomes relevant for some reason, they just use it to drive the point harder that this guy dumped her because he doesn't like Jen but likes She-Hulk. I don't even remember this guy's name and they don't mention it in this episode so I'm not going to bother but they also bring up how men are simps and "He's never had to prove his value to a parade of underwhelming men." Ugh. Crap like that. You can make good feminist dialogue, but the random jabs have got to go.

But no credits scene surprisingly, I guess they just figure that ending kind of did itself justice.

Also Deadpool?? Cyclops? Ben Reilly? What are you pulling here? That's not canon...yet.

random bay facts since i've been thinking about them for the last 48 hours

chews on their camp necklace when they first get it until leo makes a chewy bracelet for them

they get put in poseidon's cabin since there isn't a cabin for triton yet. bay likes it bc they know it's actually the right place for them, but no one else realizes that.

also invites evan to move into the cabin - mainly bc they feel guilty knowing that they're the reason evan still hasn't been claimed, but they just tell everyone that water powers need to stick together. they have to argue with chiron about it for hours before he gives in tho

bites to show love and to get attention. doesn't show it until way into their relationship with leo bc they've never seen anyone else do and thinks it's not normal, but does it without thinking once to get leo's attention when he's working on something and is practically dead(heh) to the world. he thinks its adorable. they refuse to do it in front of other people for a long time tho

fights with a trident, which the stoll brothers enjoy pointing out is a little on the nose for a child of triton. bay stops that by showing them exactly how good with a trident they are

is vv clingy and jealous, to a point that if leo didn't live for the attention, would border on unhealthy

first begins bonding with leo bc they find putting things together to be interesting, so they help leo with building the argo 2 a lot of the time

doesn't like cotton sheets/clothes, so piper and bay go shopping for clothes that won't make them itchy and new sheets for the poseidon cabin

even tho evan and them share the poseidon cabin, half the time bay ends up sleeping on the roof bc they like falling asleep under the stars. jason mentions it to leo once after catching them out there and he builds a little sleeping area for them on the argo 2 that allows them to be outside and not freeze to death

leo falls first, bay falls harder

leo being a simp from the lost hero on but bay doesn't realize they like him until the mark of athena and doesn't realize how deeply they feel for him until his 'death'

finds makeup fascinating - they like fucking around with lacy and especially likes subtle makeup that makes their eyes pop

doesn't like dresses tho - they prefer feeling more secure with their clothing

their pupils are bigger than normal peoples because of all the time they spent under the ocean - not a lot, but enough that its kind of unnerving when you notice

likes dancing a lot - not like normal dancing, but kind of swaying around and doing their own thing

related: lacy and katie tried to teach her an actual dance and they bumbled it so bad they fell and scraped their jaw

leo's mom used to teach him about constellations, so leo when leo realizes that part of the reason bay sleeps outside is to watch the stars he starts showing her the constellations, even if he doesn't know a ton about the myths behind them

bay loves the anime one piece bc triton is obsessed with it and one of the few times they bonded was when they watched it together. also i find it hilarious that leo's fc plays luffy in the one piece live action. daydreaming about bay's reaction to seeing him dressed as luffy is so fucking funny to me

loves taylor swift so much. also loves scene queen, who yes, technically wouldn't have been making music when all this goes down, but i don't care

once tried a hamburger and vowed never to touch it again - turns out to just hate beef with a passion. loves veal tho
