Alfred's Boy Part 3
Bruce rarely had a full night's rest. In fact, he thinks that it's been a full two years since he last had more than eight hours of consistent slumber. Unlike Tim, who just forgo the recommended sleeping amount, Bruce found time to take naps throughout the day because, as much as he hates to admit it, he's not as young as he used to be.
This is why Bruce is rather displeased to be awoken when he finds himself with a chance to have a full night's rest. It felt like he barely closed his eyes at the tender time of nine o clock pm- with no cases waiting for him, his children agreeing to take his patrols, and the wonderful tea that Danny had poured him to help with backpain-he thought nothing would ruin it.
He forgot he had children for a moment.
At three in the morning, he woke to Tim, half in his Red Robin uniform, crouching like a cat about to leap, his unmasked face staring a few inches away from Bruce's nose. It took everything in Bruce to not react on instinct and take a swing at his son.
He only just bites back the scream by sheer willpower. His son doesn't seem to notice his heart trying to leap out of his chest as the boy leans back, sitting on the pillow Bruce likes to use to build a protective wall against the other side of the floor.
Tim's voice was raspy with sleep and maybe even hints of madness. "Oh good, you're awake. I have an emergency."
"Wha?" Bruce asks, half unsure if he is hallucinating. "What's wrong."
"Danny found his photo album."
"Danny has a photo album?"
"Yes. I made it. I took all the pictures."
"Okay? Why is that bad, chum? Was it supposed to be a surprise present for him?"
Tim tilts his head, his somewhat unfocused eyes staring at Bruce, and for one moment, he wonders if Tim got a concussion out in the field. He disregards the idea a moment later. Alfred would have notified him, and if not, Danny wouldn't allow Tim to wander alone.
Bruce could still remember Duke's wide eye awe as Danny followed him around when he got hit a little too hard a few weeks ago. The butler in training had even slept in his room- on the floor on an air mattress- and Duke had looked mortified and smug for as long as it took to get over his injury.
Alfred had to make it very clear no one was allowed to deliberately get a concussion to his other love-struck children.
Tim's nose wrinkles as a slight blush appears on his high cheeks. "No. He didn't know I was taking pictures of him. That's why it's bad he found the album. "
Bruce closes his eyes. He loves his son, he really does, but he can't handle this right now. He takes a few blissful seconds to pretend he never became a single dad of nine before he pushes his eyelids apart to give one of his middle children a firm scolding. "Tim, chum, the light of my life, that's a crime."
"It's not! I didn't follow him around outside the manor." Tim argues.
Bruce reaches a hand up to rub the space between his eyes. "Tim, you can't just take pictures of people without asking them."
"Why not? I've done it before. To you, Dick, Jason, Steph, Alfred, Damian, Harper, Cullen, Duke, and Cass, but she usually catches me and poses so it doesn't get her in her authentic state of being like I usually want to get but-" Tim says, counting the people on his figures before he seems to realize that he was sidetracked and shakes his head. He gives Bruce a pitiful pout. "He doesn't even mind. He said they were lovely and artistic!"
Of course, Danny wouldn't even blink at a creepy photo album of himself hidden in one of his employer's rooms. That boy didn't care that he found the Batcave while dusting, so taking everything in stride was a default.
"Tim, it's still not okay. You have to ask him from now on if you can take pictures." He holds up a hand when Tim opens his mouth to no doubt argue. "You can ask him if you can take pictures of him throughout the day to capture his authentic side without it being a crime. Now explain what the emergency really is."
Tim's teeth snapped close with a snap. "That was the emergency. He found it, and now I have to leave the country. Go underground for a few months. Maybe fake my death."
"You literally don't have to do any of that. Danny said it was okay right? He isn't one to sugarcoat things. He wouldn't claim it was fine if he didn't feel that way."
"No, Bruce, you don't understand. He already thinks I can't swim. Now he finds a book of him covered in hearts? Tim Drake needs to die." Tim says, dragging his hands down his face, and Bruce flips the covers back.
Gesturing to them, he deadpans. "Tim Drake needs to sleep."
"But my fake death needs to be planned-"
"Cullen and Harper get back tomorrow. Do you want to stress Danny more by adding your fake death to this?" Bruce watches the moment his argument wins because it's as if all fight leaves Tim's body, and his son slumps to the side. His head falls on a pillow, and he's already fast asleep.
He had been running on fumes again, it seemed.
Sighing, Bruce man hands his son into a more comfortable position, unclips his cape, and tucks the blankets around his son's shoulders. He settles back into his side of his bed- Ever since Dick came to live with him, Bruce had, over the years, claimed the right side of the bed so the left would always be open for any of his children suffering from nightmares.
He closes his eyes; Tim's peaceful face snuggling into Bruce's softest pillow reminded him why he became a single father of nine. His heart swells with love as he gives back into sleep's warm arms.
A few seconds later, his door is kicked open by Harper. She puts all her lungs into her greeting. "What's up, Old man! Who's the new kid!?"
Bruce glances at his clock and realizes it's now eight in the morning. Harper and Cullen had arrived hours earlier than planned- probably because Harper had refused to sleep and completed the drive home. He looks at Tim and finds his son curled into a ball, still dead to the world.
"That's Danny," He says in a hushed voice, gesturing to her adoptive brother. When Harper sees Tim, she visibly quiets, ensuring her heavy metal boots don't stomp on the ground as she walks over to him. "He's Alfred's foster son. He was removed from his last home because his parents were dangerous to his safety. Alfred will house him as a favor for his old contact. The contact code name is Clockwork. Danny talks about him a lot so you may hear that name for a while."
"Whoa. " She says, sobering up. Bruce can see memories of her birth father playing behind her eyes as she frowns. "That's shitty. Poor guy, no wonder he seemed sad to the bone."
"You met him?"
"Yeah, he jumped Cullen and me in the main hallway."
Bruce's mind buffers for a second. "What?"
"I know! The dude has skill, but it makes sense if he is Alfred's. He thought we were breaking in and took us out before I realized we were in danger. Once he got a good look at our faces, though, he practically threw up apologizing." She pauses. "Is he straight?"
No. Bruce thinks feeling cold, not another one.
"I believe he's bi. Why?"
Harper shrugs, smiling. "I think Cullen may have a crush on him. I was iffy about it since I thought he was another of your kids. You technically aren't our dad since I'm still Cullen's guardian, but you let us live here for free, so you like a dad? Glad it's not an issue."
Bruce wants to cry. What was it with Danny and seducing his children (in the eyes of the law or not, Cullen is Bruce's boy)? "There may be an issue. See, Danny has a few admires right now and he's- "
"That sounds like your issue, not a Cullen issue," Harper says, narrowing her eyes. Bruce winces when he notices her arms crossing over her chest as when firmly plants her feet a few inches apart. She only stands like that when she's protective of Cullen, which means she finds his comment offensive.
"I'm not saying Cullen doesn't have a chance." Bruce corrects realizing where the issue was. Harper's arms loosen slightly. "I just meant that right now, Danny isn't in the right mental state to be dating."
Harper's arms drop. "Yeah, I wasn't interested in dating after I became emancipated, either. Had a lot going on. I'll talk to Cullen about it. Make sure he gives Danny space."
Finally, one of his kids is on his side! "Thank you, Harper."
She waves a hand dismissively. "Don't mention it. Hey, how did Clockwork and Alfred meet anyway?"
Bruce shrugs. "I never asked."
"Why?"
"It's Alfred. " He says like that is an explanation enough, and it is. Harper accepts it as such, nodding along. She tilts her head back and mentions wanting to shower, then take a long nap. She leaves the room as silent as a shadow, but not before telling him Danny and Cullen are making pancakes for everyone.
Bruce doesn't want to get up, but he must be the period romance villain and rip his son away from the staff. He slips out of bed with great effort and prepares for the day. A quick bathroom break, and a change into a casual suit, lead to Bruce walking down to the kitchen.
There he spots Danny smiling gently at Cullen, who is in an excited rant about his latest reality tv show. Around them is a spread of breakfast foods- Danny always cooks the food of various cultural backgrounds. He apparently learned from Clockwork and found it important everyone had at least one piece of home per meal.
It's heartwarming domestic. Bruce needs to ruin it.
"How did Alfred and Clockwork meet?" Cullen asks, stopping Bruce from dramatically bursting into the room. It's mostly because he has been wondering the same thing for weeks, and Danny seems to know.
"Alfred got haunted when he picked up Clockwork's pocket watch in an antique store," Danny responds.
That answer didn't explain anything. In fact, it just created more questions. Bruce wants to wait a little more, see if Danny adds more information, but he watches as the bulter in training places strawberries on heart-shaped pancakes and then drizzles chocolate. He puts the plate in front of Cullen, and the other teenager swoons.
Yeah, Bruce needs to stop that.
"Good morning, boys." He calls, watching the two turn to him. They each give him a greeting, but Danny is noticeably more polite. Danny moves away from Cullen to serve Bruce. He adds blood pudding alongside his Batarang-shaped pancakes as Cullen sulks about losing Danny's attention. Bruce takes a bit of those first, closing his eyes in bliss.
Blood pudding, just like Alfred used to make.
Speaking of Alfred, his loyal butler arrives then. Seems like Bruce wasn't the only one catching up on a night of undisruptive sleep. His oldest friend gives both boys a once over, Danny pouring tea and milk and Cullen staring at him lovingly- and raises a brow, leaning down to whisper in Bruce's ear.
"I say, it seems Danny has collected another one."
"Please don't."
"Denial will not make it less true. It's how I wound up haunted."
"Alfred, what does that mean?"

────────────────────────────────
after working in the DPD for so long, you never could get used to the sound of your alarm blaring at 5:00 am. by the time you arrived at your desk, your limbs were already aching for the warmth and comfort of your bed - the type of tiredness that could only be satiated by a full night's rest (which you didn't get most nights).
to add onto the poor sleep schedule you had, the past few weeks had been filled with an unnecessary amount of paper work, and most of your time was spent sitting in front of the terminal at your desk. in order to pass the time, you'd make frequent stops to connor's desk, only to be yelled at by hank to get back to work. or you would attempt at small talk with nines, to which he always responded with narrowed eyes and a stern look. it was clear he wasn't fond of small talk so early in the morning.
this morning was no different than the last, as you sat at your desk, bored out of your mind. the day had just begun, and the steaming cup of coffee on your desk still wasn't able to replace the extra hours of sleep that you had missed. as if a silent prayer had been answered, you swiveled your chair around to see connor's lovely face, greeting you with a good morning. "good morning detective, you seem to be in a good mood today," he gave a small smile. "all thanks to you," you smile, not noticing the grey eyes across your desk watching the two of you. connor stayed silent for a moment as his LED pulsed amber, and you followed his line of vision to see nines doing the same. "i've sent the case file to rk900, i've just got a report of a double homicide and a suicide," he briefed. "what an amazing way to start my morning," you replied, sarcasm laced in your tone.
"lieutenant anderson is currently supervising an academy student, and since i'm not authorized to investigate crime scenes on my own, i will accompany you today." connor said, hands clasped behind his back as he looked down at you. nines stood from his seat, making his way over to join connor. you took a sip of your coffee before standing up to join the pair, grabbing your keys and heading to the lot.
"what do we know about the homicide?" you asked nobody in particular. unfortunately you had to sit in the backseat of your own car, as nines insisted on driving and connor took the passenger seat before you could. "a mother had murdered her own two children before taking her life. an hk200 reported that he was a witness and is currently at the station giving a written statement," connor turned around to look at you, before turning back around to face the road. "and this happened how long ago?" you asked.
"around 20 minutes ago," nines suddenly spoke, despite being quiet the entire ride. "did the android mention that she had a husband?" nines looked in the rearview mirror to make eye contact with you before replying, "no, however legal documents show that she is married." he pulled into a vacant area near the house crowded by bystanders, police and news reporters. the three of you passed the digitalized 'POLICE LINE DO NOT CROSS' tapes, ignoring people's questions about what had happened. as you entered the home, the three of you split up. as stated in the report, the crime took place in three different areas; the kitchen, the bathroom upstairs, and the last in the children's shared bedroom.
you headed over to the kitchen, where the wife laid motionless at the table, a gunshot wound lodged in the back of her head. part of her brain matter was exposed, and the surrounding area had been decorated in brains and blood. it was a gruesome sight to say the least, but you suspected that it was a little odd position for a suicide. connor stood next to you, moving in front of the corpse and analyzing her body. connor's on sight forensic analysis proved to be quite effective as it saved a lot time, compared to waiting for forensic reports after you had analyzed the scene. his brow furrowed slightly, as he looked at you (not without sampling the blood of course). the weapon - a glock G19, was located next to her hand, along with a glass of wine.
"that's unusual. the exit wound isn't on the back of the head, instead it's in the front. it's a strange way to shoot yourself," connor examined, turning to you for your opinion. "i don't think this was a suicide. i think it might've been a homicide, but we can't say for sure," you replied to his analysis, before leaving to join nines upstairs. connor watched your retreating figure, before reconstructing a possible scenario.
as you walked up the creaking stairs, you took notice of the door that was slightly ajar in the distance. as you neared it, you realized it was the bathroom. you pushed the door open with a foot, immediately noticing the bloodied corpse of one of the children in the bathtub. the water had been drained, leaving the body in a pool of her own blood. the victim suffered three gunshot wounds, one in her chest, one in her right side and the last one in her forehead.
it was sickening to see, but the more you looked the more things you found. the gunshot wounds weren't the only injuries she had, as there were welts scattered across her legs, and faint burn marks on her wrist. the welts could have come from a belt. the sight immediately reminded you of the hk400, the first case you ever worked on involving an android. a bubble of disgust and guilt boiled in the deep pits of your stomach, but you swallowed it and stood up, only to be startled by connor's unannounced appearance. "jesus, you scared me!" you sighed. "i didn't intend to startle you, detective," connor said reassuringly, with his hand on the small of your back. you ignored the comforting feeling of his hand on your back, and moved to the final room, leaving connor to analyze the second corpse.
nines crouched next to the young boy, who didn't look older than the age of eight. he took a sample of his blood, analyzing his DNA like his predecessor. like his sister, he was shot. but forensic analysis suggested he was strangled before. judging by the purplish hue on his neck, it was evident that he'd been choked. "i reconstructed a possible scenario. it seems that the perpetrator came in through the door, and then proceeded to choke the victim before shooting him four times," nines explained, looking at you as you stared at the bloodied corpse on the floor. the carpet had been stained red, along with a stick figure drawing of the boy and his family. a few crayons surrounding the picture had suffered the same fate as the drawing - stained red and broken.
you noticed that he suffered the same marks, which were obvious indicators of abuse. nines and connor had seen it too, the bruises, the burn marks and the welts. "I think the mother might have been abusing her children. maybe she felt guilty after doing this and decided to take her life," your brows furrowed as you examined the room further, noticing the lack of clothes and toys.
"It's likely, as her fingerprints match the ones on the gun." nines said. connor chimed in, adding to nines' analysis. "however, the exit wound on her forehead indicates that she couldn't have shot herself. if she killed her two children, then who killed her?" your brows only furrowed in confusion as you tried to piece together what had happened. judging from their analysis, she couldn't have ended her life. if the hk200 was a witness, then he was lying, because the mothers death wasn't adding up. the husband was also nowhere to be seen, and the gun she used was registered in his name. there was only one way to make sense of this mess, as it had spiraled into something beyond what the files insinuated.
"hello, my name is detective l/n. what's your name, honey?" connor and nines watched in the observation room as you questioned the hk200. "my name is michael," he replied, fiddling with his hands in his lap. connor's brow arched slightly from the pet name, an unknown feeling erupting in him that could only be described as jealousy. "thank you for being cooperative, i understand you've already given a written statement but we'd like to ask you a few questions." you opened the case file, revealing the images taken of the bodies. he avoided looking at the pictures, and looked at you or around the room. the room was designed to be plain and bland, in order to keep the person under questioning focused and not distracted. this allows for them to rely on the detective for any type of distraction.
"what did you do today, michael?" you started off with easy questions to gain rapport, as answering easier questions would put him at ease and he would be more likely to give you more information. you could always scare them into a confession, but that would only escalate the situation and end in a possible destruction. "i did my usual list of chores," he replied. you nodded, "does this include cooking meals?"
"yes," he confirmed. "can you tell me what their mother does? does she help out, or does she rely on you for taking care of the children?" you noticed as he began to shift in his seat at the mention of her. "she left taking care of the children to me, and she'd spend most days drinking." you nodded, "did you have a good relationship with the children?" he took a little longer to respond, his eyes glossy with a type of pain you'd seen before. a look you wished to never see again. but then again this wasn't about you. "yeah, we did a lot together. drawing, playing games, normal things." he sounded hurt, like he was genuinely affected. you felt for him, reaching across the table to offer a comforting hand to him. he put his hand on top of yours, relaxing a little as he calmed down from your touch.
"was she married?" you had asked, despite knowing the answer. it was a simple test to see if he was lying or not. "yes. her husband would come home late and leave early in the morning, so she wouldn't spend much time with him," he explained. upon hearing this, connor did a quick search and was able to find his workplace. it was possible that the husband had left before the crime happened, and would come home to horrible news. "what time does he leave for work?" you asked, and the android replied rather quickly. "he leaves at 7:00am." by the time you arrived on scene, it had been 9:27am, and if it happened around twenty minutes before you arrived, then the husband would have been long gone, meaning the crime would take place around 9:07am.
you pushed a few images of the injuries on the children, waiting for him to look at them. "since you took care of the children, you probably have noticed these marks on them. do you know who caused them?" he visibly stiffened, eyes trained on the images of the marks and bruises. he then stared at his lap, remaining silent. but the look of guilt on his face was becoming more apparent. "i know you cared about those kids. you looked after them everyday. i can see the pain in your face." his brows started to furrow, before he slammed his fists on the table, startling you slightly. nines and connor were quickly alerted by this behavior, bodies tense and ready for anything to happen. "you don't know anything!" he yelled. "i don't, so tell me the truth," you pressed. he stayed silent again, before admitting it.
"it was the mother. she did it," he confessed. "she'd beat them almost every night. one time i tried to stop her but she said she'd return me to cyberlife if i stepped any further."
"then who killed her?" leaning into the table, you watched as he averted your gaze, "she committed suicide." it was evident he cared for those children, and seeing their abuse would become something he couldn't tolerate any longer. it started to make sense, when you placed him in the same position of the perpetrator from connor's reconstruction, it all made sense. she had downed glasses of wine after murdering her children, michael finally had enough, his heart broken over the deceased children - and so he grabbed her gun, and shot her in the back of the head before placing the gun so it looked like she committed suicide.
it seems that he started to realize that you knew what happened - what he did. "we both know that's not what happened." you stated firmly. he quickly shot up from his seat, lunging across the table to knock you to the ground. your chair tipped back, causing you to fall on your back. he was quick to get on top of you, his hands immediately wrapping themselves around your throat, and his skin peeled back to reveal the white plastic underneath. you kicked, and tried to wriggle out of his grip, but he was too strong. your throat burned as his digits dug into your tender skin, his fingers right above your pulse point. it throbbed wildy underneath his fingertips, only encouraging him to keep his silence.
connor was quickly on top of him, a hand pinning him to the table while michael's hands tried to fight the deadly grip of the rk800. nines quickly pulled you out of the room, and as much as he wanted to deal with the hk200, he knew connor could handle it.
connor didn't say a word, and it terrified the android underneath his palm. he could only stare into the hot rage above him, warnings popping up in his screen warning him of a shutdown. connor had torn out his thirium pump, the tips of his fingers holding onto the pump in his hand. hot blue blood splattered over his fingers and clothing, though that was the least of his worries.
"you're going to talk," connor suddenly said. "you have approximately 120 seconds before you shut down. i suggest that you tell me the truth, otherwise it won't be the other officers you have to worry about. it'll be me." he leaned into his ear, before putting his thirium pump back into place. his forearm pushed him down into the table, preventing him from moving. "i won't tell you." michael sneered. connor said nothing, and immediately grabbed his arm to probe his memory. michael grunted, the sensation feeling like a burn throughout his body as connor searched his memories. that was all the confirmation that he needed.
michael was escorted out, and you found yourself in the bathroom again, splashing cold water onto your face. after all that happened today, you felt like you didn't solve anything. the husband would come home to his entire family gone, and you felt like you couldn't save anyone. this feeling of shame and guilt, you felt partly responsible. it brought you back to the painful memories of the last case, but this time you had connor and nines.
"you should go to a hospital," nines suggested. both of the androids had scanned you again and again, all to make sure that you were alright. "i'm okay nines," you reassured your partner. "nines?" connor joined in, his head turned to look at his replica. "yes, that is the name that was given to me from the detective." nines replied, his eyes locked onto his predecessor. connor ignored nines, and asked if you were really alright. his fingers itched to touch the bruises forming around your neck, but he pushed away the thought and focused on your well-being. "you both don't need to worry. i've been doing this for years," you replied cooly.
fowler had come up to the three of you, his intense gaze locked on you. "you should head home, l/n. we seriously cannot have you getting injured on the job again," he said sternly. connor was about to retaliate, but nines placed his arm in front of him to stop him. they made brief eye contact, communicating silently.
'don't make it worse for her,' nines said. connor ignored him, his eyes locked on yours as captain fowler scolded you while also making sure you're okay. you sighed once he left, running a hand through your hair. "i guess i'll be getting home then," you said to both the androids, noticing that connor looked worried. "let me drive you home, i feel partly responsible for your injury," he said, his hand on the small of your back again. you smiled, trying to mask the way your body responded to his touches. though, you had forgotten that connor wasn't the only one who could read your body, nines could too. his LED circled amber as he scanned you, taking note of how your temperature raised whenever he or connor was around. he bid you goodbye, and watched as you left with connor for the night.
the car ride wasn't awkward at all. one thing that separated connor from nines was the fact that connor spent more time around humans, and he knew how to make conversation easier. the sound of the car engine and rain pattering against the roof put you at ease. detroit could be pretty at night, especially when it was raining like this. "i saw you take care of that android, you can be scary," you laughed. he gave a small smile in response to your laughter, "i didn't mean for you to see that. i apologize if-"
"i'm only teasing you," you nudged his arm with a grin, "it was kind of hot." he cocked a brow, his social relations program helping him differentiate the two meanings of the word. "hot? i don't think cyberlife intended for it to come off that way.." you laughed, missing these conversations with the android. if only hank could supervise academy students forever, and you could have both rk units to yourself. "i'm worried for you detective, it seems that you're putting yourself at risk with these cases. you should be more careful," he looked over at you, his eyes flickering to your injury before returning back to the road. you eyed him as he drove, fighting the smile the threatened to crawl up your face at his concern for your well-being. "thank you connor, but that's kind of my job. i knew what i was getting into when i was training to become a cop. i know the risks, but for you i'll be more careful." it was strange for him, for him to smile without making the conscious effort to do so, for his body to do things that weren't premeditated and forced.
the more you looked at him from your peripheral, the more you saw the differences between him and nines. you never would compare them, but they were so different in personality that it was slightly humorous. sometimes when you looked into connors eyes, you couldn't help but feel like you'd give him everything. his eyes ere so soft, and the only thing you could compare it to were puppy dog eyes, the thought of it making you chuckle, causing the android look over at you. "what's funny, detective?" you shook your head, "oh nothing. i was just thinking about how hard it must be being the most attractive detective alive," you smiled. if he could blush, he definitely would. "it must be an everyday struggle for you then," he replied cheekily.
it wasn't long before he was inside of your house, awkwardly lingering at your front door while you took your shoes off. "you should stay the night, it's raining too hard for you to be going home so late." he nodded, analyzing your home. it was a modern space, decorated with matching furniture but lacking any personalized items like photos. "i'm going to change, i'll be back soon, you can hang out here,"you smiled before disappearing into a different room. he walked over to the kitchen, noticing a pet food bowl, and an orange cat purring as it rubbed it's body on his legs. he crouched down, petting the cat gently. the collar was a light pink, with the name reading 'peaches'.
you returned, only to find him very immersed with petting your cat. you smiled, crouching next to him to pet her. "she seems to like you," you said, fingers accidentally brushing against his as you pet her together. "she's nice, i like dogs and cats." you chuckled, smiling from his pure nature. he was so sweet. "androids don't sleep, do they?" you suddenly asked, after thinking about what he was going to do while you slept. "no, androids don't require things like sleeping or eating. however we do have a 'rest mode' where we temporarily shut down to reserve energy." his eyes were attentive to your exposed skin, as he was used to seeing you in long sleeved tops, and a skirt with stockings. but you were in the comfort of your home, wearing a tank top and shorts. he appreciated the view.
"that makes sense, I think I'd go insane and hallucinate after not sleeping for a couple of days," you replied, moving to the couch where he followed you. he looked cute sitting in your girly living room. his eyes flickered between you and your neck, your tank top revealing more of your neck and chest, which he tried to ignore. "it doesn't hurt if that's what you're worried about," you said, after noticing his LED turn amber a few times. he was analyzing you. "i apologize, i didn't mean to-" you cut him off by shaking your head, placing a hand on his thigh which was impossible to ignore. "that's okay, i know you're concerned. it's sweet connor, I'm thankful for you," you smiled. something fluttered within him, it was the feeling he got when he made amanda happy or accomplishing a mission, just without being literally forced to accept the woman. she was long gone, but that's what he could compare this feeling to. who knows, maybe he just liked being praised. "thank you for being understanding, detective." his thirium pump raced from the sudden contact, his skin warming from the heat of your palm. "please, call me by my name. even in the office. you're my friend," you rested your hand on his shoulder, the urge to just touch him everywhere overwhelming you. "okay, y/n." the sound of your name rolling off his tongue was something that you enjoyed too much.
his eyes were trained on the floor, a pang of guilt welling up inside him from today's events. "i still feel responsible for your injury." you sighed, "connor, it's okay. it's not your fault." your hand moved to his, and you held his hand gently. there it was, that feeling again. he wanted you to hold his hand forever. your thumb brushed over his knuckles, and he gently squeezed your fingers in response. you suddenly got shy, as your eyes avoided his and you slightly warmed from what you were going to ask. "connor?" you asked for his attention, and he'd give it to you, no questions asked. he titled his head slightly, finding it hard to focus when you were holding his hand. it was far more intimate than any other gestures you've given, besides hugs, he might've found a favorite. "what is it det- y/n?" he corrected. "can i hug you?" you smiled shyly at him. it was unusual for you to ask since you'd always just go ahead and hug him (not that he minded), but it seemed like in your personal space and a much more secluded area, you seemed to be more nervous when alone with him. "of course you can, you don't need to ask. is that why you were nervous?" he teased, and you smiled before leaning into him and wrapping your arms around his body. hugging him wasn't what you expected- it was nothing like hugging a mannequin, but it wasn't like hugging a human. he still had the warmth and the softness from his skin, but under that was plastic and metal that made his body feel more firm. almost like how you'd touch flexed muscles, his body was similar to that.
his arms were wrapped around your waist, a little more loosely than yours. he liked the way you smelled, your smell was comforting in a way. as an android, he could register smells, but he didn't experience them in the same way as humans. certain smells are tied to memories, like a home cooked meal reminding you of childhood. yet your scent made him feel a certain way that he couldn't describe, no matter how many times he tried to compute it. it was just a pleasurable feeling. you smelled good all the time, everytime you hugged him he'd smell bright crystal by versace. "i have a question, y/n." he suddenly spoke. you hummed into his shoulder, prompting him to continue. "what makes you so affectionate towards me?" you almost laughed at his question, but it made you stop and think for a second. he could feel your heart race, and he didn't know why, it was a simple question.
"because I like you." you pulled away, looking to see his reaction. "thank you, I like you too. it's a great pleasure to be working with you," he gave a soft smile, not quite understanding what you really meant. you laughed, and shook your head. "I meant I have feelings for you. and it's okay, I don't expect you to return them, but I just want you to know that I've liked you for a really long time now."
his brows furrowed slightly, now understanding what you meant. you were worried, did he like you too? it had been strange for him. to deny his feelings at first, to ignore the increased whir of his thirium pump when you were around, to distract himself from how good your touch made him feel. to try to talk to someone else because he felt the need to be around you all the time. lately he's been more accepting of these feelings, and some of the new urges he's discovered. he's never felt the urge to want to touch someone before, to see you do things that were completely inappropriate. at first, he felt shame for thinking about you that way. but when he came to accept that it was probably normal, it was easier to let loose. his silence made you worry, but he was happier than he's ever been in his entire life. his LED was showing that he was currently processing the information, and he tried to hide how happy he really was. "I have feelings for you too, and I don't think I would've ever admitted them because I was afraid of rejection," he admitted, a soft smile tugging at his pink lips.
him? connor? the deviant hunter was afraid of being rejected by you? it almost made you laugh, because the thought was so bizarre to you. "are you serious? you were afraid?" you teased him back, and he rolled his eyes at your comment. he looked at you, and then your lips. you did the same, hoping that the two of you were sharing the same thought. in an instant, his lips were on yours. it was a completely new sensation to him, since the only thing to touch his lips were his fingers when analyzing DNA, so the feeling of your plush lips against his own was very new. he liked it.
your hand found its way on the side of his neck, and you deepened the kiss by gently pushing him back onto the couch. his LED pulsed a steady blue, even if inside he felt like he was burning up. he'd never felt so hot before, the component that circled cool air into his system working twice as hard to keep him from overheating. your tongue ran across his bottom lip, and he couldn't deny that he really liked that. your tongue then pushed past his pearly whites, and he actually thought he might catch on fire if you keep pushing him like this. his hands ran up the small of your back, and he pulled you into his lap, making you pull away from the kiss momentarily - a string of saliva connecting your mouths. you pulled him back by his tie, your fingers looping around the fabric to loosen it. it started with his tie, then his jacket, and then your fingers were slowly unbuttoning his shirt. he tilted his head back, allowing you to kiss his neck and the middle of his throat, your tongue running down his adams apple.
he was experiencing pure bliss, the feeling of your tongue running against his skin almost burning him from the heat. your kisses started in between his collarbones, and then it led down his sculpted stomach. you were pleasantly surprised by his muscular physique that hid underneath his clothes. through the jacket, you couldn't see much, but now you were able to see how strong he actually was. cyberlife intended for him to be stronger, and in doing so they gave him a lean yet muscular physique in order to be faster and precise. you slowly shifted to your knees, kneeling in between his thighs. you pushed his legs apart, and rested your arms on his thighs, while your fingers played with his belt. his cock strained against his boxers and his jeans as he looked down at you. your palm pressed on his crotch, and he clenched his jaw from the sudden pressure. fuck, you were going to break him.
"shit," he hissed, feeling more of your hand pressing on him through his jeans. it was a first hearing him curse, and fuck did it turn you on. before you continued, you momentarily stopped to ask him if it was okay. he nodded, his breathing becoming heavier as you unbuckled his belt. you pulled his jeans down enough to where his boxers were exposed, and fuck you didn't expect him to be so...big. it was hard to hide your surprise at his size, and you finally knew why he was always in a good mood. he smirked, his head tilting while his hand ran through your hair. you pulled his cock out gently, kissing his tip before wetting the length with your tongue. you made direct eye contact with him while you ran your tongue up the length of his cock. he nearly came just from the sight.
"you're so pretty," you complimented, before taking him in your mouth. the artificial muscles in his thighs clenched from the heat and wetness from your mouth, and he didn't know if he could handle being inside you if your mouth felt this heavenly. he let out soft grunts, making you clench your thighs together. you spit on his pink tip, before swirling your tongue around the head of his cock, your hands working up his length. you took him in your mouth again, your eyes tearing up from his tip hitting your throat as he gently thrusted into your mouth. his breathing became heavier, grunting while his head tipped back. you were surprised to feel his fingers gripping your hair, before you realized that he was holding you in place. he grunted one last time, before cumming into your mouth. unlike humans, his cum didn't have a certain taste as it was artificial, yet there was still something delicious about it, and you practically licked your lips clean.
your knees ached from being on the floor, and you were surprised yet again when he kissed you again, this time more hungry. you kissed back with the same amount of hunger, your lust never ending for the android that was above you. you laid on your couch, watching as he placed his hands on either side of your head. it was his turn to be in-between your thighs, and you whimpered feeling his cock press against the outline of your shorts. "i want you just as bad as you want me," he muttered into the crook of your neck, his lips kissing at your jaw and neck. unfortunately you couldn't bruise android skin, but he could bruise yours easily. his tongue licked at your skin, and he began to suck to leave a hickey. your hands traced the muscles on his back, your palms running up and down the smooth skin. "yeah? prove it," you challenged, watching as he nearly tore your shorts off, leaving you feeling exposed.
he was a little overwhelmed by so many urges at once, the urge to break you and leave you begging for him, or to fuck you until you cry. your back arched as he started to kiss your exposed cleavage, sitting up on his knees to squeeze your boobs. he'd be lying if he said he hadn't thought about doing this before. you moaned, watching as he lifted up your tank top and discarded it to the side. he kissed your chest, and you arched your back enough for him to remove your bra. he looked down at you, admiring how pretty you are. "you're prettier," he replied to the comment you made earlier, leaning down to squeeze and play with your boobs. he pushed your hips down from moving up into his, his palms holding you down easily. he decided to do the same, and pressed a thumb against your clothed pussy. you whimpered as he moved his thumb in slow circles, applying the right amount of pressure for you to be arching your back.
"my mouth isn't just for sampling dna, you know," he uttered lowly, his lips pressing against your pussy. you felt so hot, your skin burned from every touch. his hands gripped at your thighs, before moving one of his hands to tear your panties off. he didn't know if he could hold himself back, but for your sake he tried. "oh fuck," you whimpered as he ran a tongue up your slit, brown eyes peering up at you for your reaction. your brows twisted in pleasure, as his tongue began to work magic on you. the tip of his tongue swirled deliciously around your clit, before his lips sealed around you. it didn't take you long until you came on his tongue, his middle and ring finger buried deep into you while his mouth lapped at your clit. your abs clenched, your back arching and your toes curling as you unleash yourself on his mouth.
the moans that spill past your mouth are filthy, filling up the room along with the smell of sex. his fingers shove themselves into your mouth, and you're forced to taste yourself while you look up at the android above you. he looked so hot, his lips were slightly parted and shiny from being in between your thighs. his hair was slightly messy from you tugging on it, which he didn't mind. how his hair looked was the last thing he was thinking about. all he was thinking about was fucking you until you couldn't take it anymore. you lovingly suck on his fingers until his fingers are stripped of your taste, your tongue grazes his knuckles as he pulls them out from your mouth.
"is this your first time?" you asked, your fingers tracing his jaw and running down his chest. "yeah," his short response made you grin, and you pushed him back into the couch, immediately crawling onto his lap. his dick rests against his stomach, and you guide it back to your slit, hovering over him slightly in order to put it in. he looks down at your hand wrapped around his dick, capturing all of this and storing it into a special area that could only be accessed by him. he was definitely going to look at this later. you slowly sink onto his cock, the both of you grunting from the pressure. he seems to be in pure bliss, his head tilting back, his pretty pink lips parted and brows furrowed. if you could take a picture, you would. you gently rock against him, moving your hips slowly in order to not overwhelm him. your hands rest against his chest, and his hands grip onto your hips as you ride him slowly. you lean down and kiss his neck, adding onto the pleasure he was feeling right now. soft gasps and groans slipped out from his mouth uncontrollably, as he started to lose himself in the feeling of you clenched around him. you started to move faster, a pace that only brought the two of you closer to your end. your pussy wrapped around him deliciously, your wetness dripping down and spilling onto his thighs. he wasn't going to let you have all of the control, though.
it might have been his first time, but he sure knew how to fuck like he'd been doing it for years. he suddenly picked you up, with his cock still inside, and pressed you up against the nearest wall. you gasped, legs and arms wrapping around him in fear of being dropped. "don't worry, I'm not gonna drop you," he murmured against your neck, his strong arms holding you up with ease as he started to pound into you. your head titled back as you pushed your hips into him, his inhuman stamina keeping you up in the air, while miraculously being able to hit the spot that made you nearly scream.
"c'mon, take it, i know you can" he encouraged, his cock hitting that spot that made your toes curl. "cum on this dick, i know you want to," he continued, his voice low and demanding as he leaned next to your ear. it was different from how he spoke at the office, with professionalism and respect. but right now, he was fucking you like he had no respect for you, like he hated you. his pace was brutal, filling your pussy up until you couldn't take it. his cock rested heavy inside you, stretching your pussy out in the best way possible. his hand held you by the throat, while his body supported the weight of yours. "oh my god, fuck," you whimpered, your pussy clenching around his cock before you came all over him. he grunted, gasping as his cum poured into you, combining into a mess on your thighs and his own. he thrusted into you a few more times, enjoying the whimpers that slipped past your lips, the way you begged him to stop, the sound of your voice telling him that it was too much. he pulled out gently, cock dragging against the warm walls of your pussy. a new feeling overcame him as he watched his artificial cum drip out your pussy. you returned to your feet, nearly dropping a whole head as he'd been holding you up at eye length. you truly didn't understand how he was able to do so much. goddamn.
"i have no idea how you're able to hold me up like that," you took a second to control your breathing. he smirked, "my stamina and strength were designed to help catch deviants, though I'd say that I prefer fucking you over the mission." you softly gasped, hitting his arm playfully. "I've never heard you curse before," you giggle, doing a little walk of shame to retrieve your clothing. he mimicked your movements, putting his boxers and pants on first, while you lazily threw on your tank top and panties. you stopped him before he could put on his dress shirt. "I don't usually curse when I'm at work, as it's not professional, but we're not at the police department, are we?" he cocked his head, watching curiously as you put on his grey jacket over his bare upper body. "no, we are not," you smile, stepping back to admire your work. "what is the point of wearing a jacket if I'm not wearing anything underneath?" he questioned, watching as you eyed his body. "it's hot," you comment, dragging a hand down his bare stomach, your fingers tracing over his abs. "i look like i work at the eden club," he replied, not very fond of this look. you giggled, pulling him into you for another kiss.
it might have been the first time in a while that you've felt like you were doing something right. whatever you felt with connor, it felt right. he felt the same as you, he felt like having you in his life was something he wouldn't be able to let go. the two of you stayed like this, not putting a label on things yet, and being content with the things way are. you were happy, and so was connor.
though you couldn't deny the slight feelings of desire that you had for his counterpart. you felt guilty for having thoughts about nines. he was your partner. you felt selfish for wanting them both, and you didn't want to have to make a choice with who you wanted to be with, because that wasn't fair. you weren't saying that nines would even have feelings for you, but the mere thought was just enough to make you consider all the possibilities. what you didn't know, was that connor was well aware of the feelings you might have for nines, as well as him. he noticed the looks you gave, the thrum of your heart if he came too close. he didn't know why, but he didn't mind. he didn't mind seeing you look at nines like that, probably because they had the same face. but also because he wanted nines to enjoy you too. he could tell that nines was having the same thoughts, and if only you knew what was going on in his head. the thought of you being used by both of them was exciting. you don't know what's in store, but you know what you're here for.

A while ago you wrote older jily telling Sirius about their 2nd and very unexpected pregnancy. As it was on fool day Sirius didn't believe them.
Could you write a sequel with Sirius understanding it's not a joke? (If you think that a caustic remus should be a witness of this all, i wouldn't mind😁😘)
For you, Zin , hope you enjoy this pure *chaos* down here❤️ (first part)
***
With a flick of his wand, James sends all the dishes to the sink. "I'll take care of them in the morning," he promises.
Lily nods lazily; she stands up, moving to the liquor cabinet. James beats her to it, waving her to sit again. She almost laughs; hopefully, in a few days, his overprotective care will subdue.
In front of her, Tonks—well, Lupin, technically, but Lily still sees her as Tonks—winks at her.
"This one was the same," she says, nudging her husband. "Usually made a mess because he didn't want me to do anything."
"You were nine-months long, it didn't seem natural that you could move at all."
"I couldn't be more clumsy than I usually am—I nearly broke your front vase, Lily, sorry."
James chuckles. "It was a gift from Sirius, we wouldn't mind."
The man in question lifts his eyebrows. "You said you had loved it."
"No, what I said is that I could see you loved going for shopping in IKEA."
"I'm man of good taste."
"I find that hard to believe—how is the refurbishment of Grimmauld's Place?"
"That place improved a lot since I took down my dear mother's portrait."
"You mean since we took it down—two hours worthy of charms and I didn't get offered any beverage—"
"Speaking of," Lily begins, deciding that interrupting them is the best course; it's late after all. "Weren't you going to offer our guests a last drink?"
James flushes. "I don't think Sirius can be considered a guest anymore. He's part of the furniture by now."
"The nicest furniture," Sirius agrees, unashamed, accepting the glass with liquor that James offers him. He tastes the drink, then looks at James finishes serving Remus and Tonks, before closing the liquor bottle. "You forgot yours."
"Oh, I'm not drinking. Solidarity and all." He winks at Lily, who blows him a kiss in answer.
"Not drinking? Lily needs her sleeping juice."
"I do not," Lily says dignifiedly. "And I should drink in my current state."
Sirius rolls his eyes. "Are you two still keeping that joke?"
"What joke?" Tonks asks, curious.
Lily sighs. "Dear Padfoot is under the impression I'm not really pregnant."
"You cannot be pregnant," declares Sirius, as if it's obvious. Tonks snorts.
"Well, for the things I've unfortunately witnessed between them, I'd say she can be pregnant, no question."
"Yeah." James holds the back of his neck, his cheeks red. "Sorry about that, we thought we had locked the door—"
Remus laughs heartily. "That's how you know you are part of the family," he assures Tonks. "It's a tradition to catch them...ah... making babies, I guess."
"To be fair, it only happened twice," Lily notes.
"People catching you two or the babies?"
Lily nods gravely. "If I had a child for every time someone caught us, we could have our own Quidditch team by now."
"Your own Potter's Playground," sniggers Sirius. Then he throws a reproachful glance at Remus and Tonks. "Since when are you two into this prank?"
Remus smiles innocently. "Since James promised me I would be godfather—mind you, I had to wait twenty years—"
"I am the godfather!"
"You can be Uncle Padfoot now," Remus suggests, the corners of his mouth twitching.
"No one ever called me uncle—James! I'm okay with your fake pregnancy, but fake uncle is too far."
"Sirius," Lily insists. "It's not fake. I'm three months pregnant now."
Sirius blinks; twice. "You cannot be," he says reasonably. "I would have noticed it."
"Is it?"
"I'm an Auror."
"A lousy one," Tonks teases. "Let's see—there's that glowing aura, James hasn't let her hold anything heavier than a fork, Lily didn't drink wine the whole dinner—"
"And," Remus adds, "there's the fact that she told us. To use your Auror terms, she confessed her crime."
"Repeatedly," James whispers; Sirius ignores him. He kneels suddenly as if the weight of his body is too much, and he stares at James and Lily with awe.
"Pregnant—you two are really...?" They nod. "There is another Potter coming?" Another nod. Sirius' eyes widen. "Good Godric, I can't believe, I... I am going to be a godfather again!"
"Er..."
"Not now," Lily whispers to her husband, patting Sirius' head; he is actually crying. "We have six months to get him used to the idea."

2008 Berlin, Germany
Only two days, actually one if they considered it was already Friday, were left for the meeting with Red Bull and Sebastian, who complained to his public relations that he seemed to have no vacation during the winter break, insisted on driving to the German capital despite the six long hours ahead.
"Are you sure you don't prefer to go by plane?" his girlfriend asked, settling into the passenger seat as Sebastian placed the suitcase they would share in the trunk. "Britta can find us a last-minute flight, I'm sure."
"Hanna, I'm a professional driver, and I have a license to prove it," the blonde replied, getting into the car. "I've spent about nine months driving a single-seater at over three hundred kilometers per hour; now I need to drive like a normal guy, with my girlfriend by my side, while I calmly drive on roads I don't know, enjoy the scenery, and feel the wind on my face."
"You better not open the windows at three degrees we have out there."
"Wait and see."
As soon as the driver started the car, he turned the heating to the max and directed it towards Hanna, who just rolled her eyes at the gesture. Although she knew her boyfriend like the back of her hand for years, there were many occasions when his antics surprised her.
"Okay, okay," Prater finally responded, raising her hands in redemption, followed by a yawn. "I understand you want to act like a normal twenty-one-year-old guy, so go ahead," she indicated, pointing her index finger at the road ahead.
They had only been on the road for about an hour and Hanna had already given up, falling into an immediate sleep that had interrupted the conversation she and Sebastian were having about the apartment they planned to see in Berlin and intended to buy. Although the German enjoyed driving, he didn't like doing it alone, at least not outside Formula 1.
The music playing in the background, coming from a local radio station, along with the constant roar of the engine, was what kept him from dwelling too much on why his mind had been so distracted since the end of the season or, more precisely, on the person who had occupied all his thoughts.
No matter how hard he tried, Vettel's mind was elsewhere, immersed in that unnatural blonde hair and blue eyes that conveyed both security and fear, from the girl who had a brighter future than many people made her believe.
Since that victory in Monza, the German's judgment was completely clouded and filled with confusion. He couldn't overlook any of the interactions they had had since then. The spark in the girl's gaze and her desire to see him succeed, regardless of what happened to her, left Sebastian completely bewildered.
Did the Austrian see the possibility of going beyond a simple friendship between them? Or was it him, seeing in Diana what he would like to see in Hanna?
Possibly the latter: the problem was him.
The night wind entered gently through the window, which the blonde had opened slightly shortly after her girlfriend fell asleep, who was unaware, thankfully, of all the possible scenarios Sebastian was creating and would like to experience with Wagner. The last thing he wanted at that moment was another jealous outburst from his girlfriend, although he deserved it.
While his love for his girl was the most important thing to him, he couldn't help but feel remorse for realizing that there were certain things his girlfriend seemed to lack, but that Diana shared with him. It wasn't just their passion for motorsport anymore, but also the concern the intern felt every time the pilot got in and out of the car, when he finished a press conference or an interview, or even those moments when he saw him with few friends. Prater rarely did that, even if she made an effort to show a minimum of feigned interest.
Diana Wagner was the kind of person whose world could be falling apart, and yet she would worry more about the person in front of her.
For months, Sebastian had been wondering if his mind was playing tricks on him by comparing the two girls. Was it fair to Hanna for him to think of Diana as her replacement? Even for the Austrian: was it normal for him to see her as the idealized version of his girlfriend? Sebastian found himself in completely unknown territory from which he couldn't find a way out, and the more he thought about it, the more lost he became in his feelings.
Hanna shifted slightly in her seat, turning her head in the opposite direction, now facing the pilot. Vettel took a few brief seconds to turn his gaze toward her while still paying attention to the road ahead. He loved the girl beside him and would do anything to make her the happiest woman in the world.
A knot started forming in his stomach: he didn't want to hurt her, but it was becoming increasingly difficult for him to clear his head, the mental block growing stronger as the hours of the journey passed, even when they had already entered the German capital.
Friday had passed faster than Sebastian expected. As soon as they parked their car in a nearby hotel parking lot and checked in with autographs and a photo session with the hotel staff included, they dropped off their few belongings in the assigned suite and took a short nap to recharge. Within hours, Vettel and Prater were roaming the streets of Berlin incognito, heading to the apartment they had in mind to buy. Sebastian's impulsivity, driven by guilt, led him to say yes without giving the blonde much chance to decide, making the pilot start convincing himself that the future with his girlfriend, Hanna, was what he should have in mind. They also enjoyed an early dinner at one of the blonde's favorite restaurants in the city.
The new Red Bull star wanted to do everything possible to make his partner happy and distance her from all the insecurity she gained because of him. At the same time, he wanted to get rid of intrusive thoughts that, no matter how hard he tried to ignore them, were meddling too much in every aspect of his life.
When they returned to the room, a sense of calm invaded them. Hanna left her bag on a chair near the main door, stretching as Seb took off his coat and delicately hung it on one of the racks, his yawns filling the room. After that, the blonde approached the girl from behind, embracing her tenderly and holding onto her as if he was going to lose her.
"I'm very happy about everything we're going to do together from now on, love," he whispered in her ear, planting a gentle kiss on her cheek.
Hanna turned carefully, still hugging him but now looking directly into his eyes while her hands rested on his sturdy chest.
"I am too, Seb," the girl replied with a smile that perfectly reflected her fatigue. "This is just the beginning of a new chapter in our story."
The driver held her even closer, stroking her hair and removing some strands from her face, placing small kisses on her crown. Hanna leaned in decisively, and their lips met. The tenderness that initially seemed to characterize the connection between the young couple gradually turned into passion, their mouths moving in such perfect synchrony that it seemed rehearsed. Sebastian's hands began to explore his girlfriend's back, deepening the caress that was interrupted by the blonde, who was looking at the guy with ulterior motives.
"Do you want me to do something to you?" the girl suggested mischievously. "I'm at your disposal for whatever you want. Just ask."
Prater started taking off the sweater she was wearing, throwing it on the floor, and kissed Vettel again, now with more desperation. At the same time, while trying to dedicate time to his girlfriend, Sebastian once again had visions of the Toro Rosso intern in his mind, remembering the last times they had been together and, especially, how he wished things were different between them.
How his life could be different.
"I'm sorry, Hanna," he said, pulling away from his girlfriend and taking a step back. "I'm very tired... and I can't take it anymore, I need to rest a bit," he tried to articulate as calmly as possible, pretending to lie on the bed.
"Come on, Seb, don't spoil the fun for me," the girl encouraged him, raising an eyebrow, pushing him to lie on the mattress and positioning herself on top of him. "Now we have no one to bother us, and you can make me scream as much as you want."
Hanna wasn't giving up easily, and Sebastian knew that perfectly well.
"Hanna, I'm being serious..." the pilot began to say, trying to get her off him. "It's not that I don't want to, it's just that I've been driving for almost seven hours all night, and I've only slept about two hours since last night," Seb explained, using the journey as an excuse. "I need to sleep for twenty hours straight. The Red Bull I had is not enough."
Hanna looked at him, changing her expression to a more serious one as she tried to extract something beyond her boyfriend's words. Her expression reflected concern, which upset the pilot even more than he appeared.
"Are you okay, Seb?"
The mentioned sighed, running a hand through his hair.
"Yes, don't worry. I just need to sleep, at least, two days in a row and sort out my thoughts... about tomorrow's meeting."
"Relax, sweetheart," the girl began to say, caressing his cheek. "I don't want to pressure you if you're not comfortable. And don't worry about tomorrow's meeting: I'm sure everything will go smoothly."
The German simply nodded slightly, trying to act as normal as possible.
"Tomorrow everything will be over, so calm down. Everything will be more than resolved, and I promise I'll devote myself body and soul to everything you want until the season starts."
Hanna convinced herself that this would be true, calming down a bit when Vettel approached and gave her a peck, then got into bed. The girl was curious about how events would unfold the next morning with Marko and Horner, especially regarding the famous intern, but she wouldn't find out until much later because she couldn't be at the meeting. Moreover, she preferred to stay studying there; she had too many assignments and final exams to prepare to be up and down. She had accompanied Seb to Berlin to enjoy his company as much as possible.
Determined, she got up to remove her makeup and get ready to go to bed herself, although at the same time, she did it so Sebastian could have some time alone and calm down without pressure. She tried to keep the lights off and not make much noise: there had been few occasions when the pilot had had an anxiety attack, but Prater knew perfectly well that when it happened, the last thing he wanted was to talk, wishing to escape from everyone to hide his vulnerability.
When she was ready, she slipped carefully between the sheets, staying behind Seb's back while trying not to disturb the calm that seemed to have finally consumed him. The room would be immersed in a sepulchral silence if it weren't for both of their breaths, which always became synchronized after a few rigorous minutes. Seeing the scene, Hanna felt the urge to move toward Vettel. Gently, she approached him until she was close enough to put an arm over his waist, pulling him toward her protectively. She felt how the boy relaxed, encouraging her to continue: instinctively, she rested her head on the shoulder she had free, closed her eyes, and let sleep take her to a world where, perhaps, Sebastian Vettel didn't have so many doubts about their relationship.

The landscape visible through the tinted windows of the van taking Britta and me to the hotel for the meeting to finalize my six-year contract with Red Bull was more than memorized in my memory from all the times I had traveled it. I guess that's the advantage of having photographic memory. But it's also a disadvantage because I remember perfectly every single moment I've shared with her, moments that I'm not supposed to have so vivid.
The so-called power of Diana Wagner, I suppose.
Her face, her smile, her voice... everything seemed to have moved into my mind with no intention of leaving for a long time, and I hated it immensely because I felt an indescribable emotion when I saw her. But at the same time, the confusion was huge because I couldn't understand what role her presence was playing in my life. Add to that, the fact that I felt like a complete idiot for Hanna, who deserved none of this, no matter how many scenes of jealousy she made or how much insecurity she emanated; after all, I understood her—I behaved like a Neanderthal on many occasions when I saw her classmates too close.
Britta was by my side, delivering a speech that my mind didn't seem to grasp because it was already working hard, thinking about the intern.
"Seb, are you listening to me?"
The poker face she threw at me when she seemed to realize I wasn't listening was indescribable. I just nodded quickly.
"Why are you so concerned about Wagner?" she asked, cutting the tension that had formed between us.
My hands turned into a fist automatically, my knuckles turning a shade of red that even worried me.
"I don't know," I admitted, looking at her briefly before returning my gaze to the city's buildings. "Since we said goodbye, I haven't been able to stop thinking about her..."
"It's normal to have feelings for other people," she interrupted, not giving me the opportunity to continue explaining myself. "But you have to know perfectly well what you want and, more importantly, who you want."
If my mind was a whirlwind, after her words, it was even more so. Why was it impossible for me to forget, even for a few months, about Diana? But that's not all: most importantly, I didn't know why everything I did with Hanna or everything I wanted to say to her, I wanted to say to the adopted Barcelona girl. I felt like I was somehow being unfaithful to her.
My public relations continued talking, only sending me another small thread of everything she was saying, repeating as if it were a mantra that I had to take into account what having Di on our team would mean. She even emphasized strongly that, before making a hasty decision, I should think with my brain and not with my penis.
It seemed she didn't know me, and that's what made me dislike her in moments like these.
"Vettel, come here!"
As soon as we stepped into that meeting room in one of Berlin's most luxurious hotels, Christian opened his arms for a hug, setting aside the formalities I had seen from him until then. Marko was in one of the corners, holding a folder with the team logo in his hands, completely still and with a distant look, although I knew he was analyzing everything I said or did; I could see him occasionally commenting to Guillaume Rocquelin, who would be my new race engineer, better known as Rocky, while I talked to Horner about what I had done during the only free week I had had so far.
When Helmut finally deigned to greet me, I stood straight as a candle, just as I did in school whenever I was reprimanded. No jokes for now; Roeske had already warned me about that. I was too young to be out of a job.
"I'm glad to see you again, Sebastian," he said, offering a handshake that I gladly accepted. God, he was so sweaty. "We're delighted to have you here. Let me introduce you to Rocky," he turned to the man next to him, who already had a big smile on his face, "from now on, if you decide to sign the contract, he'll be your race engineer at Red Bull."
How could I not sign the contract? I wanted my favorite girl from the paddock to be with me wherever I went. I didn't want to be out of a job.
Damn it, thinking about Diana again.
"Pleasure, Sebastian," the engineer said, giving me a hug that left me completely out of place. "I'm thrilled that we'll be working together from now on. I know you have potential."
"Thank you."
I couldn't say more because, even before finishing the word, Marko was already demanding that I sit next to Britta, who already had an impressive pile of papers in front of her. I did that, also asking her with my gaze what it was; she didn't answer, of course, but threw another one of her many phrases at me with her eyes that I knew perfectly. In this case, it could be something like "stop being a teenage jerk and focus on being an adult for once."
"All right, Sebastian," Helmut Marko began to say, "you already know well what the contract entails because, if I recall correctly, we publicly confirmed your entry into the team at the German Grand Prix this year, 2008," I nodded, "and we agreed that you would replace Coulthard about two months earlier, in May," I affirmed again, "so you must have read the contract around February or March, but it was confidential."
God, how annoying.
"Exactly."
"Well," he continued, making me more nervous. I don't know how he could live from the calm he always carried with him, "let's review the terms and everything you'll be facing for the next six years."
"The contract will last, as I've already mentioned, six years, from 2009 to 2014, with the possibility of extending it, which will allow us to establish a solid relationship with you and, especially, to develop your potential to the fullest. You already know well that during this time, you will be the number one pilot, the most important member of the team, without intending to belittle Webber," he clarified, although I knew it was an excuse as thin as a demon. "This will give you the opportunity to demonstrate what you are capable of and, above all, achieve what we believe you desire most: accumulating podiums, victories, and even winning a championship or two. Regarding responsibilities," he changed the subject to one that seemed infinitely more boring to me, "we only expect you to integrate into the team and contribute both to the development of the car and to race strategies," he said, looking at the engineer beside him, "alongside Guillaume. We're not just looking for the best driver for the coming seasons, nor the fastest, but someone who can provide the necessary feedback to make us a rocket."
"And how much are you going to pay him?" Britta impatiently wanted to know, eliciting a smile from me that didn't amuse the company owner as much. "I believe that's what my client is most interested in and what we haven't discussed yet, I'm afraid."
For those reasons, I knew I couldn't easily let this woman slip away.
"He'll have a base salary and, from there, bonuses based on the results he achieves, especially if they're P1," explained the older man, earning mere murmurs from Britta. "But don't worry about that, Roeske, we'll provide everything necessary in terms of facilities, personnel, and resources so that your client, as you've called him, walks away satisfied every year."
"And would that be all?"
"Don't play dumb, woman," now Christian was speaking, whom I both loved and hated in equal measure. "You read the contract even before Sebastian did."
The expression she made seemed like she wanted the ground to swallow her. I knew nothing about her knowing what would be in the contract before I did... Should I be worried, or should I be calm because that was her job?
"Do you have any questions or concerns about the contract?" Horner asked with interest. "We want you to have everything clear before you sign anything. If you regret something, you can tell us with complete sincerity, you know you're the new star and we want you to feel at home."
Britta's gazes were penetrating me even before I knew she was looking at me because I knew what she was going to ask. Was it the best decision? Probably not, but sometimes the heart wants what it wants and mine, in those moments, wanted to do everything possible for Diana Wagner to have the opportunity to show the world what she was capable of. The woman looked at me, making faces so that I wouldn't say anything of what she knew as well as I did that I was going to end up saying.
"Yes," I said, taking a breath before explaining what had been going through my mind for so long. "I would like Diana Wagner, the Toro Rosso intern who was subordinate to Alex last season," I told them as I saw their faces turn into completely different expressions, "to be with us, on the team, doing something more than what she has done this year."
Roeske observed me impatiently, while the two big shots from Red Bull exchanged somewhat uncomfortable looks. The engineer simply remained silent, watching the other three as much as I was.
"Why would you like this Diana to join us, Sebastian?" Helmut wanted to know, which seemed very odd to me.
"I know what she's capable of," I began, "but since she's not given a chance to demonstrate her talent, it's impossible for you to see it. Each and every one of us, myself included, has underestimated her at some point because she's a woman and inexperienced, when all she's doing is fighting to learn, carve out a place for herself, and above all, try to be the best at what she knows could be her future profession," I declared with a tone increasingly angry from the rage contained within me. I had to learn to control it as my mother had told me so many times, but it was impossible in cases like this.
Christian Horner and Helmut Marko glanced at each other again, but unlike before, now they seemed to have a clear decision, and it didn't give me a good feeling. Before they could say anything, Britta interrupted them, showing no consideration for how much I disliked talking about my personal life in public:
"Sebastian..." she commented, knowing perfectly well the doubts that had been plaguing my mind for so long, "don't act like Diana is Hanna. Don't do this out of pity because it will end very badly."
I couldn't say anything because I knew she was right. Britta Roeske once again had bloody well hit the nail on the head, and I couldn't take it away from her. Her words echoed in my mind constantly, along with every single conversation we had had on the subject. I had a serious problem, and making another impulsive decision wasn't the best way to act.
But I did it. I ended up doing it for that bright-eyed girl whose eyes turned dark every time they trampled on her, threatened her, insulted her, or suggested she do another job than the one she was there to do, among thousands of other words and gestures that surely made her feel like crap in the area of her life that stood out the most; surely Toro Rosso hadn't selected her from thousands of candidates if they hadn't seen the potential she had. I wasn't the only one who could think that.
"This has nothing to do with me feeling sorry for Diana or not," I tried to calm my anger, "but these are professional matters that I would like to address because, just as something, I don't know what, was seen in me to run for this team, I also see that this girl can succeed when given the opportunity to do so," I turned to Helmut eagerly, and I swore his eyes began to penetrate him like no one had ever done before: “You are the ones who claim to have a young team. Don't you think it would be good to have a more rejuvenated vision of engineering, to learn from each other? No offense, man," I ended up looking at my engineer.
I could feel the doubts of everyone present, but there had come a point where I didn't care anymore: I was determined to fight for what I believed was right, regardless of the consequences that all this fuss I had created based on a slight obsession with a colleague might bring.
"Seb, please," the blonde replied authoritatively, but at the same time with affection as she looked at me with concern, "take things slowly. You're not thinking clearly, your feelings are doing it for you."
"No, Britta, I'm thinking very clearly," I replied firmly. "I can't turn my back on someone who has passion and potential for this sport, and that was clearly seen with the victory I achieved in Monza because she was the one who designed the strategy since Alex decided to leave after psychologically abusing her."
Shit, I had gone too far revealing details, but I didn't care because their faces, which had been completely impressed, except for Roeske's, were the sign that made me affirm that I had made the right decision.
"Diana was the one who prepared it?" Rocky wanted to know, and I nodded. He was the most surprised person in the room, and that gave me a little hope.
"If it hadn't been for her, I probably wouldn't have finished the race."
Everyone in the room was even more surprised. I don't blame them, I was too at the time, but I was bored: I needed Diana Wagner to surprise me even more.
"To be honest, we had no intention of continuing to trust Miss Wagner for the next season," Helmut Marko confessed, and my heart began to race. What if, after all, I had messed up even more? “To be honest, the internship program we set up turned out to be much worse than initially thought. If you are so determined for this girl to join the team, then we will establish some conditions for her to join," announced the man, "and if she doesn't meet expectations, she will be expelled immediately."
Marko's voice was firm, but behind it, I knew he wanted to test Di and me for what I had proposed. His look conveyed to me that, as much as he trusted that I could make Red Bull Racing shine, he didn't trust the opinion of a twenty-one-year-old kid; the same could be said of Horner, Rocky, and Britta, who probably weren't giving credit to the kind of debate the team advisor and I were having.
"Agreed," Roeske sighed beside me and crossed her arms. I knew she was angry and that she would scold me as soon as we left there, but I didn't care. WI don't know what Diana will think of all this, but I'm sure she's more than willing to prove more than she's worth; just as I know she won't disappoint you."
"I hope your words are true, Vettel. You'd better not do this because you have some kind of fling with the girl, because if you mess up, she'll be out on the street with you right behind her."
My lungs seemed to have disappeared because at that moment I didn't feel the air flowing through my body. Her look made me feel like a lost child, with no one to help him and not knowing where to go. I had defended Diana tooth and nail and didn't regret it; in fact, I would do it as many times as necessary, but... was it just because of the innate talent I had seen in her from the very beginning?
I had to prove at all costs from March onwards that everything I had said had been from a professional point of view, and emphasizing that there was no future life that we planned to have together because I had Hanna for that.
Diana's and my future, our future, was now more at stake than ever, and if we failed the Austrians, we would fail ourselves more than anyone else.
However, no matter how much I tried to calm my mind and forget them, Christian Horner's words stuck to me like darts because I knew that, deep down, I had just brought out a truth that I myself wasn't ready to face yet.

2008 December 25th
Barcelona, Spain
The dreaded Christmas Eve had arrived, marking the beginning of another ridiculous Christmas at the Wagner family home. Since Rosalie's departure, those festive times filled with music, food, gifts, and, especially, love, had turned into a routine that had to be celebrated no matter what in Bernhard's eyes; for Diana, however, it was quite the opposite.
After her mother's suicide, the girl had done everything in her power, without anyone's help, to ensure that Christmas wouldn't be ruined for her six-year-old sister. The redhead was in charge of preparing the decorations during the famous December festivities celebrated in Spain from the sixth to the eighth of December, where she set up the Christmas tree and various other ornaments. Also, well in advance of the 24th, she prepared a dinner different from the usual with care, trying to make it more elaborate as the years went by; and she even bought gifts, saving money for months thanks to sporadic jobs that she managed to get.
All of this took a lot of effort, and sometimes she thought about not doing anything to avoid conflicts with her father during those two weeks, but the desire to keep the excitement alive in little Amelie was what ultimately won.
That year, thanks to her salary as an intern, she had been able to exceed her initial budget. The food was of better quality, and she had even made enough to eat in the days to come. At the same time, there were more gifts for the youngest of the house, and even for their father, who always rejected any presents they gave him.
Although the little one was now 12 years old, she still had as much excitement for Christmas as they did when they were a normal family, thanks to the efforts of her older sister.
"Amelie, come get the foie grass and grab a beer for dad!"
The girl quickly obeyed her elder sister's orders, taking what she had been told and bringing it to the head of the household. As she watched her sister walk away and finished finalizing the details of the main dish, she felt her mobile phone vibrate in her pocket.
She took out the device and saw messages from Sebastian. To say that her heart didn't skip a beat would be lying to herself.
It was Sebastian, telling her that they would see each other on February 9th in Jerez. That she was going to continue in Formula 1, now as a Red Bull intern. With him.
"Diana, come to dinner now!"
As soon as she heard the voices in her native language from her father, she quickly tucked her phone into her pocket and returned to the living room, carrying a tray with the roast she had been preparing all day. Upon crossing the door, she saw her father sitting in his armchair watching the Christmas programs on Spanish Television, trying to hum along to a few carols he liked with his limited level of Spanish. Diana placed the food in the center of the table and sat to the right of her sister, leaving Bernhard at the head of the table.
At that moment, Sebastian Vettel had given her the best Christmas gift she had received, and the only good news that would resonate in the Wagner family unit for quite some time.
"Dad, Amelie..." the girl began, unable to hide her excitement. Barely a few minutes had passed since she had received the messages from the German, and maybe she should inquire a bit more in case it was a joke, but she couldn't wait. "Sebastian sent me a message a couple of minutes ago saying they have decided to promote me to Red Bull alongside him to be his track engineer's assistant."
The father's face lit up, something Diana hadn't seen for quite some time. Her younger sister jumped out of her chair and bounced around, completely euphoric, rushing to hug her instantly.
"What do you mean, an engineer?" Bernhard wanted to know, taking a sip from his beer can and trying not to choke on what seemed to be excitement. "Does that mean you won't be an intern anymore?"
Diana nodded, shaking her head faithfully. "That seems to be the case. In the end, getting fired by the other team seems to have worked out."
"By the way, Diana," the man said again, steering the conversation to a completely different topic, "I'd like to tell you and Ame something."
The sisters' faces paled a bit, not knowing what their father might be referring to. He straightened up in his seat and looked them directly in the face. Tears began to well up in his eyes, and the redhead had a premonition that what would come out of the mouth of the man who gave her life would not be good.
"I've been facing some health issues lately," he announced. "Your sister knows that I've been to the doctor more times than I'd like to count," he recounted, looking at the younger one, who agreed with her father, "and if we haven't told you anything, it's because we didn't want you to abandon the season for a father with less and less time left."
Diana, who was drinking Coke, spat out the soda she had in her mouth, staining her burgundy-colored dress a shade of brown. Amelie was in shock, and her gaze began to alternate between her father and her sister.
"Excuse me?"
The words that came out of the adult's mouth couldn't be true.
"The doctors have diagnosed me with ALS, and besides having a late diagnosis, it seems to be progressing faster than expected."
That was impossible. She couldn't lose her father too.
Tears began to form in the girl's eyes as she felt arms wrap tightly around her waist. The muffled sobs of her younger sister on Christmas Eve were the last thing she expected. Trying to process the news, Diana could only blame herself for not being there with her father, thinking if she had been, none of this would be happening.
"I know this is difficult...," Bernhard continued, his voice trembling slightly, "but I want you to know that I'm taking the appropriate measures, listening to the experts, and I'll be joining palliative care in the coming days."
"What's palliative care, Diana?"
Ignoring her sister's question, Diana carefully pushed her away. She couldn't believe it; this couldn't be happening to her.
"Does what Dad said mean he's going to die, Didi?" the girl insisted again, this time tugging forcefully at her dress sleeves.
Diana couldn't deny her sister, not because she wanted to deny her the truth, but because at that moment, she couldn't say anything. Faced with her sister's deafening silence and her father's growing anxiety, Amelie opted to leave the room in tears, ignoring what might happen next in the living room.
"Hey, Dad..." Wagner tried to say, but it was completely impossible. That day felt like a dream, and neither what Vettel nor his father had said was true.
It was difficult for her to articulate words now that she was alone with someone who would leave her sooner rather than later. She tried to stay calm to maintain the family's composure because if it wasn't her, no one else would. Inside, her body was a bundle of nerves, on the verge of collapse. She wanted to scream, to hit something, and above all, to die in those moments so she wouldn't have to watch her father die.
She couldn't become an orphan at her young age of twenty.
Who would walk her down the aisle if she ever got married to someone who loved her enough, as her father had promised her so many times?
Especially that question, and a thousand more, began to swirl in her mind, only causing her to sink deeper into her newly found misery.
"You need help in these moments. If that means I have to leave Formula 1, don't worry," she managed to articulate at last, drawing strength from where she didn't have it.
Bernhard jumped up as best he could. He wasn't going to let his daughter give up the dream she had been waiting to achieve for so long, and for which she had fought for years.
"Don't you dare say that, young lady!" he exclaimed with an authoritative yet sweet tone. "Listen to me," he continued, trying to capture the girl's attention. "When I'm no longer here, I want to see you succeed, do you understand? I want to see you at the top, from the top," his eyes turned to the ceiling of the house, knowing Diana would understand where he was going with this. "I want, when you manage to stand alongside the driver you direct and collect a world title, to look up and be aware that I'm watching you from a better place."
"I can't bear the thought of losing you, Dad," the young woman was sobbing, unable to control her tears. "Saying goodbye to you too, in such a short time, isn't fair... Six years ago it was mom, and now you."
"Diana Wagner, I want you to know that wherever you are, you will always find me in the stars," the man gently took his daughter's face in his hands, wiping away the tears that covered her cheeks. "You were born for this, so don't let my situation make you abandon everything you're fighting for."
"But, Dad..."
"I know this is very difficult, little one, but I want you to know that I am very proud of you and the woman you have become," he paused to catch his breath due to the difficulty he had with it, "and the woman you will surely continue to become. I know your mother would be very proud of you too."
Tears flowed freely again, and the sobs increased. Diana hugged her father tightly and wished to die right there with him.
"I don't know how I'll be able to do it without you," she revealed, leaving the man stunned. "It hurts to think of losing you."
"Well then, don't," he declared.
Immediately, Bernhard sat back on the couch and patted his lap, indicating to his daughter to sit on it. Despite hesitating for a moment due to her father's well-known delicate health condition, Diana eventually complied, feeling like she was five years old again.
"You know? I like this Sebastian guy you've talked so much about. I don't think I've ever told you," the man said.
The girl felt a slight blush beginning to creep onto her cheeks. Diana had shared everything she had experienced with Sebastian day and night with her family, but they had never reached the point where they questioned whether she had a slight crush on the German.
"Do you think I'll ever get to meet him?" the brunette continued to insist.
The redhead knew that question would come up at some point, but not minutes after her father had told her and her sister that he was dying and that there was nothing to be done for him except to wait for his life to fade away.
"Of course, Dad. You'll get along great, I'm sure," she lied, knowing it would be very difficult for that to happen.
"And will he like me enough to have him as a son-in-law?"
Diana laughed. Her father always had to match her up with someone, regardless of what happened between them.
"Sebastian is just my friend, Dad," the redhead clarified, getting off her father's lap. "Plus, I'm not sure he would ever come to love me in the future as anything more than... his friend. Well, I'm not even sure about us being friends, to be honest," she corrected herself.
She knew Bernhard was putting on all this show to calm her down and make her forget the devastating news that not only ruined their holidays but possibly their lives; but at the same time, a fervent desire arose in her to tell him the whole truth about how she had felt in recent months with the blue-eyed German who had been so kind to her, unlike many others.
Tears welled up in Diana's eyes again when she realized that her father might never know that she was slowly but earnestly falling in love with Sebastian Vettel, and that there was nothing she wished more at that moment than for him to meet the man she wanted to be her future son-in-law.

A/N: Wow. You guys this is it. The final part of the thick reader series. There have been times that I have been tired and frustrated and not pleased with my work but there have also been times that I've read paragraphs written out about how one of these stories touched someone, made someone feel seen, understood, that it was a story they could actually immerse themselves in because the main character had similar insecurities. Just, the good way way out weighed the bad is what I'm getting at. Anyway I'll stop rambling. I hope you all enjoy this final part, if you do please like, comment, reblog hit my ask box what ever. I love to hear from you all about these stories especially. As always warnings and smut below the cut!
Warnings: 18+ ONLY MDNI! Cursing and strong language, oral sex (m&f recieving), deep throating, unprotected piv sex (please use condoms), cream pie. I think that covers everything. If I missed something please let me know and I'll add it to the list. It's late I very well may have missed something.

The day after the party you woke up next to Hyunjin perfectly content. The Pi sisters may have won the majority of the battles during your time in university, but you clearly had won the war. Whether they knew it or not didn’t matter to you. You were happy laying there with Hyunjin and THAT was all that mattered to you. Being happy with in incredibly kind and gorgeous man is the best revenge you could ever hope for. You propped yourself up on an elbow resting your head on your hand and watched him sleep for a minute. He was so insanely beautiful. You started to trace your finger along the bridge of his nose gently. His nose twitched a bit, then he settled, still asleep. Your finger traced along his brow, down his nose again and then softly glided across his lips. He took a sharp breath in and jumped a little when he woke up, then he saw you and smiled with his eyes still half closed pulling you close and wrapping you in his arms again.
“I could really get used to waking up to that beautiful face. Good morning.” His voice was low and groggy from sleep still. You kissed his pouty lips.
“Good morning.” You giggled as he started to kiss your cheek and then down your neck and shoulder. You could feel his warm mouth leaving a trail of kisses and you let out a breathy moan when his teeth grazed your soft flesh. You could feel yourself getting more excited with every kiss and nibble. Even after the three times you had fucked the night before you wanted more of Hyunjin and him of you. Alas the whole reason you were even awake at that hour was because you had a class that day. So you had to pump the breaks.
“Hyunjin mmm Hyun...fuck.” You were having trouble forming words the more you felt his pillowy lips touch you, then his hands started to explore your soft body inching closer and closer to where you wanted him most.
Hyunjin-ah, I have... I havea classmmm... have... haveta get up.” You could feel his lips form a pout on your neck as his hands ceased their journey.
“You haaave to?” You laughed as he nuzzled closer locking his arms and legs around you.
“Unfortunately, it’s a very important class that I need to pass. Most of his testing is based on his lectures so you don’t go you don’t know.” Hyunjin huffed and loosened his grip on you. You kissed his nose.
“Thank you.” You started to get up and he pulled you down for one last passionate kiss.
“I’ll head out so you can get ready.” He got up and started getting dressed then walked over to you. He cupped your face and kissed you sweetly.
“Have a good class today beautiful. Text me later when you’re free?” You nodded smiling like an idiot but no more than Hyunjin was. At least the feeling was mutual.
“Bye Hyunjin.” He waved goodbye as he walked out of your room towards your front door. You quickly showered and got ready for class. Meanwhile Hyunjin was driving back home to take a shower and fall back into bed still wore out from your marathon the night before. Just when he was about to drift off to sleep Hyunjin’s fraternity brother, Jisung, knocked as he was coming in at the same time.
“Hwang? Where have you been all night? Have you heard?” Hyunjin looked up at Jisung through his sleepy eyes.
“I was... with a girl.” Jisung smirked.
“It’s not like you to hook up. Was it that girl with you at the party last night?” Hyunjin nodded.
“Yea and it wasn’t just a hook up.” Jisung nodded putting up his hands in defense.
“Got it got it chill. Any way did you guys leave before the shit hit the fan?” Hyunjin shrugged.
“We’ll I’m not sure was it before you and I delt with the douche bags or after Pi tried to humiliate my date?” Jisung looked shocked.
“Pi did what?!” Hyunjin sat up.
“Yea Riyah and Lynn I’m sure the others were in on it too. They told her my asking her out was just a joke between all of us. Add to that, you remember pool girl I told you about second year?” Jisung nodded.
“Yea that was y/n. They left her in the pool in the middle of the day.” Jisung ran his hand down his face.
“Naked.” He finished his sentence, he had remembered, Hyunjin nodded.
“Well, that’s really it for them then, the last strike.” Hyunjin was confused.
“What do you mean that’s it for them.” Jisung shrugged.
“Their sorority has been on probation with the school for allegations of hazing, harassment, and discrimination. They’re coming up for review to decide if they get to remain a sorority and to see if their affiliation with our house will continue or be revoked. You know Delta has a zero-tolerance policy for shit like that. So, with the probation, what happened last night, and what they did to your girl, that’s it.” Hyunjin suddenly realized he might have said too much and tried to back petal a little.
“I’m telling you right now dude, she won’t make a report or statement about it. She never did her freshman year, and she won’t now. What else did Pi do last night?” Jisung shook his head, Hyunjin could tell he was irritated by the thought alone.
“We saw a few girls leave upset and crying after being seen with some of the sisters. We asked the sisters what happened, and they said they didn’t know. One of the girls came back for her friend and when Chan saw her, he pulled her aside and asked if she was okay. Turns out the sorority sisters were telling some of the girls that we were throwing a ‘Pig Party’ and that’s why they had been invited. Needless to say, when Chan found out he was furious.” Hyunjin was shocked that they were so brazen to pull shit like that right under their noses.
“He kicked all the sisters out of the party, made an announcement apologizing for Pi and everyone went back to partying, but I knew it wouldn’t be the last of it. Sure enough posted on the bulletin this morning was notice of Pi’s review, Chan works fast. I don’t think it’s going to matter much if your girl makes a complaint or not. I’m pretty sure Chan’s already made up his mind on our end. Even if the school lets Pi slide their ties to our house are cut.” Hyunjin usually checked the board every time he came home but he hadn’t even looked at it when he came in, he had been so tired. Now he was wide awake trying to figure out how to tell you this was happening. He decided he needed to find you, tell you before you found out any other way. Things could look bad if he wasn’t the one to explain what was going on.
You, of course, were in your class listening to the most mind-numbing lecture trying not to think about Hyunjin and his lips and his body and his... You were pulled from your thoughts when one of the doors to the lecture hall opened. In walked two faces that you were not pleased to see. Riyah and Lynn. They made their way up to the professor, sweet expressions plastered on their perfectly contoured and highlighted faces.
“What can I do for you ladies, you’re interrupting my class.” They both eyed you and then focused back on your teacher.
“Sorry professor it’s actually an emergency and we need to escort y/n to the dean.” Your guts dropped. What the hell were they up to? The professor looked up at you.
“Go ahead Ms. y/l/n I’ll send an audio file of today's lecture just this once.” You hesitated. The teacher spoke up again when you didn’t make a move to leave with the girls.
“Well now, go on don’t leave the man waiting, I’m sure he’s quite busy.” You nodded, finally grabbing your things and bowing as you headed out the door with the other two girls close behind. You didn’t want to cause a scene in class, so you just left with them, but you weren’t an idiot; you weren’t going to just blindly go wherever they wanted you to. The first hall you came across you ducked down trying to get away from the sisters. Unfortunately, you chose one of the dead-end halls that lead back towards the custodian’s office and supply room. The girls followed you down the hall. Both of them approached you and shoved you against the wall. Lynn was in your face almost nose to nose.
“Listen up bitch, you’re fucking with the wrong house. Do you know who my father is?” You internally rolled your eyes. Of course, you did, everyone did, she made it known on a regular basis. It was also what kept her out of trouble most of the time. Evidently not this time and whatever was going on you were being blamed.
“You thought you could just tattle to Chan and that we wouldn’t take action? You’re going to retract your allegations or else the things you called torture will look like a cakewalk. Got it!?” Chan? Statement? What were they talking about? The sisters had heard that a girl they had been torturing told Chan about what they had been doing to her, that was why they were booted from the party and up for review. Lynn shoved you against the wall again hard just as Hyunjin was walking past. When he saw you, he stopped.
“What the fuck is going on here?” The girls instantly turned on their sweet faces feigning innocence, but Hyunjin wasn’t buying it. He was focused on your face which was downcast. Tears were collecting in your eyes threatening to spill over.
“You...” He was almost at a loss for words he was so furious.
“This is exactly why you’re coming up for review, shit like this.” Your head popped up when he said that. How did Hyunjin know already? He walked past the two girls and grabbed your hand leading you out of that hall. You walked out of the building and you both got in Hyunjin’s car and headed towards your apartment. When you got home you kicked your shoes off and immediately turned the kettle on for some tea. There was a tense silence hanging in the air. It had been there the whole car ride and the elevator ride up. Finally, you were the one who broke it.
“You knew about their review?” You looked upset still, Hyunjin wasn’t sure how to respond he did know but only because Jisung had just told him. To you his hesitation spoke volumes. You turned to him.
“I told you. I told you I didn’t want to retaliate. That I didn’t want to be Edmond in our story.” Hyunjin shook his head.
“No, I didn’t...” You shook your head.
“You told Chan, you told Chan and now they think I told him and are gunning for me even harder than before.” Hyunjin tried to get a handle on the situation.
“The review, I had-”
“I think you should leave. I... I need time to process things.” He was starting to panic. You misunderstood him completely.
“Bab-” You put up a hand and he stopped.
“Please... Hyunjin please.” You were tired and stressed. He didn’t want to add to it. He needed to give you the time you asked for. Hyunjin frowned and nodded. He walked over, kissed your cheek, and saw his way out without another word. It was so hard for you to do. You knew whatever Hyunjin told Chan, it was because he cared but he should have listened to your wishes. Not only that but now the sisters had a legitimate reason to target you. You decided you would go talk to Chan the next day. See if you could get yourself off Pi’s radar once and for all.
The next day after your classes you went to the Delta house and knocked. When Hyunjin opened the door, his eyes went wide with surprise.
“y/n! Oh my god I’m so glad you’re...” He reached out to pull you into a hug and you stopped him. You still were upset that he’d told Chan. Seeing the frown on his face you felt conflicted, you were upset but you weren’t trying to hurt him either, so you leaned in and kissed his cheek.
“I’m here to talk to Chan.” Hyunjin gave you a small smile and nodded.
“Of course, uh, I’ll let him know you’re here.” Hyunjin called up the stairs for Chan who came running down them not even two minutes later.
“Oh hi! You’re Hyunjin’s friend that I met at the party the other night, y/n right?” You nodded smiling at the outgoing man.
“Yes and the party is kind of the reason I’m here.” Chan’s face morphed into worry.
“Whatever Hyunjin told you Lynn did it wasn’t...what I mean is Pi isn...” You stopped. Chan looked confused and then what you were saying clicked.
“Oh God did Pi do something to you too?” It was your turn to be confused now.
“Wha-? I... Didn’t Hyunjin tell you?” Chan shook his head no and you turned to Hyunjin.
“I was trying to tell you yesterday; I had mentioned what happened to Jisung but they had already made the decision for the review. I told him you wouldn’t want to report anything. He said it wouldn’t matter, with or without your statement the wheels were already in motion, so he and I never told Chan about it.” You felt awful you had jumped to conclusions without even giving Hyunjin a chance to explain.
“Hyunjin... I’m, I’m so sorry.” He shook his head and hugged you.
“You have nothing to be sorry for. You told me you needed time and then you heard me out. There’s nothing wrong with that.” You shook your head.
“I accused you of doing something you didn’t do...” He pressed his plush lips against yours and you blushed profusely since Chan, who was smirking, was still standing right there.
“There now all is forgiven.” You gave Hyunjin a serious look and he smiled back at you, his dimples popping out and his eyes morphing into little crescents.
“What? Kisses fix everything. Didn’t your mom ever kiss your boo boos?” You couldn’t help but smile. Chan cleared his throat reminding the two of you that he was still standing there.
“y/n? Why are you so adamant about not making a statement against Pi?” Chan asked and you explained your Count of Monte Cristo conversation you’d had with Hyunjin. He nodded.
“I agree completely but let me ask you this, would you feel the same about the situation if it were guys doing these things to someone? What if a girl was sexually harassed? If it’s another girl that makes it okay?” You shook your head.
“Well, no not in those scenarios of course not.” Chan shrugged his shoulders.
“What’s different about your scenario aside from the fact that you’re the victim?” You didn’t have a rebuttal and Chan looked at you knowingly.
“I’m not saying set them up or get even but there’s nothing wrong with telling someone with authority what’s going on when you’re being harassed, I don’t want them to be able to do this to anyone else, do you?” You shook your head.
“Then please, come to the review hearing tomorrow, stand up to them. That doesn’t make you Edmond in your story, it doesn’t.” You pressed your lips together still apprehensive.
“I’ll think about it Chan.” He smiled and nodded.
“That’s all I ask. I’m gonna go finish preparing for tomorrow. See you guys!” You waved goodbye to Chan as he ran back up the stairs. It was only you and Hyunjin left standing there.
“I’m sorr-” His lips silenced you. He pulled away and pressed his forehead to yours.
“Please don’t apologize. I understand why you thought what you did, it was why I was walking by when I saw you, Lynn, and Riyah. I knew how it might look, I tried to get to you first, but I guess Pi was faster.” You could hear the regret in his voice. You pressed your lips to his again, tilting your head and opening your mouth, allowing his tongue to tease you. He thread his fingers through your hair and deepened the kiss. He nibbled at your bottom lip and your whole body started to buzz in excitement. Just then three of Hyunjin’s frat brothers, Changbin, Jisung, and Minho, all of whom you met at the party the other night, came walking in.
“Oh shit. Uh sorry.” Changbin apologized for the group. Your face burned and Hyunjin excused the two of you.
“No problem guys, we were just about to head out. I’ll see you all later.” Hyunjin playfully slapped a couple of the guys on the back as he passed, then they all gave you a small bow and smiled as you followed. You nodded to them and hurried behind Hyunjin, still embarrassed being caught by them. When you both got outside Hyunjin turned to you.
“How’d you get here?”
“I rode the city bus, it’ll come by again her-” Hyunjin scoffed
“Yea I think not. I’ll take you home.” You smiled.
“You don’t have to.” He nodded.
“I know but I want to.” You smirked and cocked your eyebrow at him.
“I’ve got a lecture to listen to, no... distractions.” Hyunjin laughed and feigned offence.
“Yahh! What do you... that’s not why I offered thank you very much!” You smiled and kissed him.
“I know baby.” You turned and walked towards his car. Hyunjin did as he said he would and drove you home opting to kiss you goodbye in the car, at least that’s what he called the twenty-minute make out session you had. When you both were finally able to pry your lips off the other’s, you went inside and Hyunjin left. You had hunkered down at your desk and tried to focus on the lecture your professor had been kind enough to send you a copy of, but you kept thinking about all the things Pi had done to you over the years and the conversation you had with Chan. What he said made sense, it did, but it didn’t mean it was going to be an easy decision for you still. When you looked at the clock again it was passed midnight. So much for no distractions, you told yourself. You turned off your lecture and climbed into bed hoping to get some rest and have a clear mind to make your decision the next day.
It was the day of the review hearing and sleep had done nothing to help you make your decision. You still weren’t sure what to do. While you had a whole internal debate the upper-class men of Delta house, Chan, Minho, Changbin and Hyunjin all got ready to go to the hearing. Since they were the acting counsel of their house it was mandatory for them to be there because of Delta’s ties to Pi. Chan had a thick file of all the complaints and statements from other girls Pi had tormented all too scared to make a statement in person. Chan hoped you would come; it would be better for them to hear it straight from the source. Things went back and forth for quite a while, each statement Chan read off, Pi would have some excuse for. It was infuriating Chan because it was starting to look like they might just get away with all of it. Then the back set of double doors opened, and you walked in. Everyone’s head turned in your direction, Chan and Hyunjin’s faces lit up and the Pi girls looked angry but worried. As they should have been because you had decided not to let these girls hurt anyone else, you had decided to make a statement. The man sitting in the middle of the head table, who you knew to be the dean of the school addressed you.
“Young lady are you misplaced?” You shook your head.
“No sir I’m here to personally give my statement against the sorority Pi.” He pressed his lips together and looked at the Pi girls who no longer looked as confident. The dean motioned for you to step forward.
“Please proceed Ms.?” You bowed as you stepped forward
“y/l/n, y/n y/l/n.” He smiled at you.
“Please proceed Ms. y/l/n.” You thanked him. You had difficulty trying to figure out where to start. You looked over at Hyunjin who smiled brightly at you.
“My freshman year as rush week approached, I heard about the prestigious Pi. I was new here and wanted to make friends, so I rushed for Pi. Instead of building bonds of sisterhood like I was led to believe would be happening, I was forced to do a multitude of humiliating tasks to even be considered for entry. They did it to all the girls but for some reason they singled me out especially for the worst tasks. I withdrew my application to join after an embarrassing pool incident. Thankfully Mr. Hwang had come along and kindly helped me when I needed it.” The dean looked over at Hyunjin and he nodded confirming your story. You continued.
“Apparently, they weren’t pleased with my withdrawal, so they started targeting me wherever they saw me, at times seeking me out. They spread rumors about me having diseases, dumped things on me, cut my hair, pushed and tripped me every chance they got and so much more. I wasn’t even safe from them at my dorm and eventually had to move to off campus housing so that I wasn’t tormented constantly.” You started to get a little teary-eyed thinking back and realizing how much you had let them get away with. Chan was right this wasn’t revenge or getting even this was doing the right thing.
“Sir there are so many things I could stand here and list off that these ladies have done to me over the last three years, but I think you get the jist with the examples I’ve given.” He nodded in agreement.
“Thank you, Ms. y/l/n please have a seat and we’ll continue.” You went and sat by Hyunjin, he grabbed your hand and kissed the back of it. He was so proud of you for doing what you’d just done. The dean looked over at the Pi girls all of which were fidgeting and nervous. It wasn’t so easy to come up with an excuse when the accuser was right there to refute what they said.
“Would any of you ladies like to make a statement pertaining to Ms. y/l/n's accusations?” Lynn stood up quickly as if she were going to deny it or make an excuse, but she sat back down just as quickly. The dean nodded.
“I see. Well then it seems there is no other choice to make. Ladies of the sorority Pi, your house and sorority will be dissolved and any affiliation to the Delta fraternity will be revoked. You ladies have a month to get your affairs in order and find alternative housing.” The girls all looked shocked and angry.
“That’s not fair!” Lynn’s voice sounded over the mumbling of the others. The dean looked at her.
“Step forward young lady.” She did so.
“You had an opportunity to refute her allegations and did not, so that means the things she said, you did in fact do, yes?” Lynn stood there silently which was answer enough.
“What’s not fair is for a young lady just trying to get an education and make friends to be tormented by the very girls she tried befriending. Now considering you physically assaulted Ms. y/l/n we could also involve the police and have grounds for expulsion, so think the punishment is not only fair but rather lenient. Wouldn’t you say young lady?” Lynn quietly nodded.
“With that ladies and gentlemen, I do believe we can call this review done. Thank you everyone, you’re dismissed.” You all stood to leave and Hyunjin pulled you into a tight hug.
“I’m so proud of you.” When he let go you noticed Chan standing there behind you still. You turned to him and smiled.
“You were right Chan standing up to them doesn’t make me Edmond, thank you for showing me that.” Chan nodded and smiled back.
“Hey, I just opened the door, you chose to walk through. We were dying until you came in so really, I should be thanking you.” You gave Chan a hug which surprised him but then he hugged you back chuckling. He turned to Hyunjin.
“You guys coming back to the house with us?” Hyunjin looked at you. It had been a stressful day you were ready to just relax. Hyunjin shook his head.
“No, I think I’m gonna get her home. I’ll see you guys later though.” Chan gave Hyunjin a high-five pulling him in for a hug, then him, Minho and Changbin all headed out. Hyunjin walked you to his car and opened the door smiling at you as you got in. He slid into the driver’s seat then both of you buckled up and headed towards your apartments. When you got there Hyunjin pulled in and parked.
“D-do...” Why were you so nervous to ask him to come up? Hyunjin grabbed your hand and took it in both of his. You looked up at him and when he smiled it relaxed you.
“Do you want to come upstairs?” His smile grew wider, and his dimples made an appearance again. He nodded.
“I’d love to.” Hyunjin got out, opened your door. He wrapped his arm around your waist as you walked into your apartment building. You were walking up to the elevator when you both saw the sweet old lady that lived up the hall from you standing and waiting. She saw you and Hyunjin approaching and smiled brightly at you.
“Well, it’s lovely to see the two of you again.” You smiled and Hyunjin bowed.
“It’s wonderful seeing you again too ma’am” He looked down and noticed some bags around the lady's feet.
“Are these your groceries? Here let me...” He started to grab the bags and she protested.
“Oh, now you don’t need to do that.” He shook his head.
“It’s no trouble we’re going the same direction besides my mom would have my hide if she saw me let a beautiful lady carry her own groceries.” The old lady playfully slapped his arm but allowed him to assist her with the bags. When the doors opened Hyunjin allowed you and the neighbor lady to get on first. You pressed the button to your floor and the doors closed. Hyunjin had insisted on dropping the bags in her kitchen, which he did. While he was setting the bags down the old lady leaned into your ear.
“Well, I do believe you’ve found yourself a keeper young lady.” You smiled and nodded.
“I do believe you’re correct ma’am.” You both started laughing as Hyunjin walked back towards the two of you.
“You two swapping gossip?” He said with a quirked eyebrow. You both continued laughing. You grabbed Hyunjin’s hand and pulled him towards the front door.
“Something like that. Have a good night, ma’am!” You called back to her as you pulled Hyunjin towards the hall. She waved you off and you closed the door before you and Hyunjin made your way down to your own apartment. You unlocked the door letting Hyunjin in first, you closed it behind you and suddenly Hyunjin felt arms wrapped around his midsection, your face and body pressed against his back. He rested his hands on your clasped hands in front of him. You took a deep breath and hummed a little.
“How are you so kind and so beautiful. It’s not fair.” You pouted and Hyunjin laughed.
“Easy, I learned from you.” You laughed now and Hyunjin turned around wrapping his arms around you.
“Really y/n you’re amazing you know? What you did today, standing up and telling that review panel what happened, preventing it from happening to anyone else. That took guts and I’m so insanely proud of you.” Hyunjin cupped your cheek and kissed you softly. He started to pull away, but you grabbed his face and held it in place as you deepened the kiss. Hyunjin pulled your soft body flush against his and your fingers wove through his hair as the kiss became more desperate by the second. Hyunjin’s lips only parted from yours when they started to trail down your neck. The way his full lips felt against your skin was exquisite. You gasped when he gently raked his teeth across your shoulder.
“Hyunjin...” You whined.
“Don’t tease me. Want you.” You claimed his lips again as you started to pull him towards your bedroom while unbuttoning the white shirt he’d worn especially for the review hearing.
“I won’t tease you baby.” Hyunjin pulled his shirt off then started to pull your dress up over your head, removing it and leaving you standing there in your white lace panties and bra. Hyunjin took in your figure, and you blushed as his eyes roamed your full body. You wanted to cover yourself but then Hyunjin licked his lips biting his bottom one between his teeth.
“Fuck you really are beautiful you know?” You shied away, and you shook your head no.
“Well, I'm gonna keep showing you until you do.” Hyunjin led you towards your bed and had you lay back then crawled on top of you placing chaste kisses here and there up your body. He pulled one of the cups of your bra down and took your nipple into his warm mouth, sucking and swirling his tongue around it. He pulled the other cup down and sucked on that nipple as well until it was hard and sensitive to the touch. Hyunjin pulled the straps of your bra down as you pulled your arms out so it was around your midsection and he worked his way down your body. He bit the cute bow on your panties and started to place soft kisses on the insides of your soft thighs each one closer and closer to where you ached for him to be. Hyunjin pulled your panties over your ass and down your legs, tossing them and then slid his tongue through your folds, savoring you before diving in and going at you like a starved man. You grabbed his hair gently.
“Ffffuck Hy-Hyunjin god that feels so good!” He hummed and doubled his efforts which had your hips canting up forcing Hyunjin to spread his big hand across your tummy.
“Hold still or I might just have to tie you up baby.” He chuckled but you clenched around nothing at his words. Hyunjin of course noticed.
“Oh? I’ll file that away for a future conversation for now I’m content to make you cum on my tongue.” Hyunjin started going down on you with fervor again and you did your best to keep your movement down to a minimum, squirming under his lips and tongue. You could feel the crescendo to your orgasm.
“Baby baby I... I’m gonna cum!” Hyunjin grabbed hold of your thick thighs, pulling you closer as he practically growled with excitement sending you teetering over the edge. His grip on you remained tight as he gave you sweet little kitten licks while you started to return to your body.
“So good, fuck you taste so good beautiful, think you can give me one more?” He didn’t wait for your answer before he started to gently suck on your clit then softly lick it. He had devoured you the last time, this time he was savoring you.
“Hyunjin-ahmmm oh my god yes! Fingers please f-fingers.” He hummed and slid two of his fingers inside you, pumping them slowly in and out. He came up for air.
“Let me take you there, let go for me baby, cum for me.” His fingers still slowly, gently, fucking you deep. He leaned back down and continued to savor every bit of you. Your first orgasm was a buildup this one hit you like a Mack truck. Hyunjin’s arms wrapped around your thighs preventing you from moving too much. You shuddered and your toes curled as he softly made out with your pussy then those sinfully plump lips made their way up your body leaving a fiery trail of goosebumps behind them.
“Fuck you are so gorgeous.” You laid there speechless, breathless, and flushed. He smiled and kissed your cheeks, once on each side.
“You still with me.” You giggled and shook your head letting out a big breath. You pulled him down into a passionate kiss as you worked at the button of his pants, reaching in and grabbing his cock. He closed his eyes and bit his lip as you started to gently stroke him in his pants.
“Who’s teasing now?” You smirked.
“Well then take them off.” You both laughed. Hyunjin got off you long enough to lose the pants and boxer briefs he’d had on before climbing on top of you again. You licked your palm and grabbed him more firmly this time, stroking him faster. Hyunjin buried his head in the crook of your neck.
“Feels so good y/n. Your fingers wrapped around my cock feel s-so good.” He kissed you and you hummed then whispered against his kiss swollen lips.
“I think my mouth would feel even better.” Hyunjin laughed but quickly stopped when you ran the tips of your fingers over his balls. He sucked in a quick breath as you started to fondle him. You whispered again this time against his ear.
“Lay back for me baby. Let me make you feel good now.” Hyunjin wanted to complain when you took your hand off him, but he knew it would soon be replaced by something that was going to feel a hundred times better than your hand. He rolled off you and sat with his back against the headboard. You crawled up between his legs and his cock got harder the closer you came to wrapping those sweet lips around him.
“Oh fuck, suck me beautiful, please!” You grabbed him again and started stroking him.
“You want me to suck on this?” Hyunjin nodded.
“Yes, please fuck.” You didn’t make him wait any longer. You took him in your mouth and started swirling your tongue around the tip. Hyunjin leaned his head back against the headboard.
“Yes, god yes.” He gripped your hair keeping it pulled up and away so he could see you taking his cock deeper and deeper. When the tip of his dick hit the back of your throat it made a wet sound and you gagged a little. You stroked his cock as you caught your breath.
“Does it feel good baby?” Hyunjin nodded aggressively.
“Fuck yes! Do you think you can deep throat it again baby?” You nodded, smiling a mischievous smile. You took him back into your mouth and immediately took him as far as you could gagging, your spit coating his cock, his hands gripping your hair, his hips wanting to move, wanting to thrust and fuck your throat. You gagged yourself with his dick more as you started to fondle him again and Hyunjin thought he might blow right there. You pulled off him again breathless, stroking him. Hyunjin pulled you up so you were straddling his thighs and started to kiss you, his fingertips tracing every inch of your body.
“Sit on my cock beautiful, ride me ‘til you cum sweet thing.” You bit your lip and nodded as Hyunjin lined his dick up with your entrance. You slowly slid down, taking him inch by inch, savoring the stretch you felt when Hyunjin was inside you. When your thick ass rested against his thighs you rolled your hips. You don’t know who moaned louder what you do know is it set Hyunjin off. He gripped your hips and made you grind against him. It was messy and raw, his cock stayed buried deep inside you as he pushed and pulled against your full hips making you ride him faster.
“Oh OHOH my god Hyunjin fuck! S-so d-deep ssso ddeep FUCK!” He worked you against him faster, your clit pressed firmly against his pelvic muscles sending you racing towards your third orgasm of the night. Your muscles all tensed, and you threw your head back as Hyunjin helped work you through your climax. As soon as your breathing evened somewhat, he leaned forward laying you back, your legs were now open and pressed into the mattress. Hyunjin held you down and rolled his hips as fucked you harder.
“God damn so fucking wet for me beautiful. So wet, feels so good.” You gripped Hyunjin’s hair and pulled him down into a bruising kiss as he continued to fuck you deeper, harder. You gently pulled on his hair pulling his head back enough to speak.
“Cum for me Hyunjin, fuck wanna feel you... God! Please!” Hyunjin held you close his forehead pressed against yours letting out little pants of breath before moaning as he came inside you.
“Oh god y/n, baby I’m coming, fuck!” Hyunjin rolled his hips into yours slower and softer as he filled you. He slumped down on top of you as he started to soften inside you. You grunted and nudged him laughing.
“You’re heavy, come on, ugh, off!” He laughed as you struggled but then climbed off you and rested beside you in the bed, eyes already heavy. You pushed his hair out of his face and kissed his forehead.
“I’m gonna shower.” He nodded eyes completely closed now.
“Okay baby. I’ll go next.” You smiled and chuckled to yourself knowing as soon as the door clicked closed, he would be out for the count. You washed up and the hot water felt good on your body. After you were all cleaned up and dry you threw on a night gown and climbed into bed with Hyunjin who, as you suspected, was sleeping deeply. He’d rolled to his back and had one arm draped over his eyes. You curled up close to him and, even asleep, as soon as he felt your body next to him he pulled you in close and spooned you. He took a deep breath of your freshly washed and dried hair and squeezed you a little tighter, your soft body pressed firmly against his and he mumbled something.
“Hmm? What did you say?” You turned your head a little so you could hear him better. You didn’t think he had woken up.
“Strawberries,” You laughed he was definitely still asleep. He kept mumbling about strawberries until you turned in his arms and placed a soft kiss to his pouty lips. He smiled softly, took a deep breath and seemed to settle. You nuzzled in close to his chest and closed your eyes, just as content if not more than the last time you had been there.
You were pacing the living room of you and Hyunjin’s shared apartment. You were back and forth on how you would tell him, or if you should even tell him. Eventually he was gonna figure it out. Still, it would be best to hear it from you rather than just springing things on him. You were nervous. You didn’t think he’d be angry, but you never thought to ask about his opinion on the matter either. When Hyunjin got home you greeted him by the door which was unusual.
“Hey baby, miss me?” He chuckled and kissed your cheek as you nervously laughed along.
“I always miss you.” He nodded in agreement.
“I always miss you too baby.” He softly kissed your lips.
“Uh Jinnie... I uh... well there’s something I need to talk to you about...” Hyunjin only noticed then that you were antsy and the use of the pet name was usually to soften an incoming blow.
“Okay baby... iiis everything okay?” You nodded heading into the living room and Hyunjin followed.
“I think it would be best if you sat down.” That made Hyunjin incredibly nervous.
“Are you sure everything is okay?” You nodded again.
“Mmhmm yea.” He scoffed as he sat down.
“That was not convincing, what’s wrong?” You shook your head as you sat next to him.
“Really baby it’s not a big deal, I just...” You held his hands and looked at him seriously.
“Look just... if you decided you don’t want it, that’s okay. We’ll figure it out if that’s what you want.” Hyunjin was so confused, want what?! Were you saying what he thought you were saying?! You stood up again still holding his hands.
“Close your eyes and hold your hands out here.” You pulled his hands in front of him palms up and he held them there. He looked at you for a minute, nervous and unsure of what was happening, then closed his eyes. You walked away a minute then came back. When you walked up to him, he held his breath. He still had his eyes closed. He was expecting a little piece of plastic telling him he was going to be a dad but suddenly Hyunjin felt fluff in his hands, he opened his eyes and looked down to find a tiny puppy. He let out a huge sigh of relief and put his hand over his heart.
“Oh thank god!” You scrunched your eyebrows and Hyunjin noticed your confusion. He chuckled a little as he pet and cooed at the puppy.
“I thought you were about to tell me you were pregnant.” Your scrunched up face turned into a frown.
“And that would have upset you, if I was pregnant?” You could feel tears pricking your eyes. Hyunjin stood up setting the puppy down on the couch and holding your face in his hands.
“I would have been surprised, scared, but never upset. I’m happy where we are right now and later when we’re ready I’ll be thrilled to find out you're carrying our baby. For now, how about we raise this puppy you brought home.” You sniffled and laughed wiping the tears from your eyes and shook your head.
“He doesn’t have a name I thought we could come up with one together.” You both thought and finally a name came to Hyunjin.
“How about Edmond, we could call him Eddie for short?” You smiled ear to ear.

Ghosts aren't real - Robert "Bob" Floyd x reader
Tumblr media
Summary: You never really believed in ghosts, but after the weirdness of the past few days you're starting to. On Halloween night, after a shift at the Hard Deck, you talk about it and Bob offers to come home with you, willing to find a logical explanation or catch whatever is haunting you.
A/N: I've been slightly blessed with writer's block, yet somehow got the idea for this fic and wrote it in just over a day 🥴 Hopefully I'll get the other's I'm working on out soon, but for now here is this little Halloween treat 🎃 (It's not also so late it's technically not Halloween anymore where I am but shhh) I wish Rhett occasionally wore glasses 'cause it would make the gif fit more but uugh, I guess it will do
Words: 6k
As always, requests are open and comments are very much appreciated! Thank you for reading and hope you're all having a good day ♡
Tumblr media
You felt like you were going crazy.
Your doorbell ringing with no one in sight, the tv turning on and off even when you were nowhere close to the remote, the motion sensor outside turning on when no one was there. And it didn’t help that all of this was happening in the week leading up to Halloween, the pumpkin and skeleton decorations only adding to your weariness.
Luckily nothing seemed to happen in the night, only in the hours that lead to it, leaving you to sleep somewhat peacefully. Still, getting home from work each evening left you with a sense of… not quite dread, but something along those lines.
You had talked about it at the Hard Deck before everything started happening, which only made this feel like a wicked joke from the universe or a ghost that had taken you as its victim after your talk with them.
”Didn’t sleep?” Hangman asked you, leaning over the counter as you prepared their usual order.  You smiled when you opened Bob’s lemonade, still finding it cute how he never drank alcohol and always opted for the citrusy drink. “Watched a horror film last night.” You explained with a sigh, “I’m not usually afraid, but I kept feeling like I’d open my eyes to find a ghost staring at me.”  You laughed along when he did, rolling your eyes when he slapped a hand over his thigh, still laughing. “Scared of ghosts?” He asked, making you shake your head in answer as you placed the last bottle on the tray. “Not quite. Ghosts aren’t real.” You explained with a chuckle, as if it was obvious, “But after a horror film it’s easy to forget about my lack of belief.”  He smirked, playfully saluting you before heading back to the pool table, handing everyone their drink and taking hold of a cue stick, challenging whoever dared play against him, Coyote not backing out but accepting the challenge, smirking back at him.  Bob turned to look at you, raising his drink your way with a smile that you returned, loving that he always thanked you, even if Hangman was the one bringing him his drink and this was, after all, part of your job.
A few days after that, things started happening. First it was small things, the gust of wind past your window sounding a little too loud, the scrape of wood against the glass sounding like fingernails, all things that were only scary because of the connections your mind decided to make, but then the tv started turning on and off and the lights outside turning on when no one was even near your porch.
It wasn’t extreme, wouldn’t happen more than once or twice a night, but it started making you wonder, the spooky season only adding to it, with its great selection of horror films each night, amazing both for the entertainment of them and for plaguing your mind with the wonder of what could be haunting your home.
It was Monday morning, and as you looked in the mirror you did everything you could do to make you look less tired and more pretty, doing a simple Halloween makeup for the day, happy that your shift didn’t start until three, ending at nine and leaving you to spend the last hours of the night with your favorite squad, looking forward to teasing Hangman and Rooster and gossip with Phoenix, maybe talk a little to Fanboy or Bob.  Penny had prepared a small witch hat clip you could clip on your head, so you chose a cute black dress, simple black tights and your favorite black boots, looking badass enough to kick whatever ghost was haunting you while also looking pretty enough to maybe find the courage to flirt a little with your lemonade-drinking crush.
Time to leave rolled by quickly enough, and glancing in the mirror you smiled at the reflection, loving the outfit and having worn it as it was on many occasions, but the little witch hat waiting for you at the Hard Deck definitely the perfect choice to elevate the look.
“You look great!” Penny exclaimed when you walked in, twirling when she saw you walking in to show you her own outfit, the dark red dress fitting her perfectly and the little horns she wore to match completing the look. “Look at you!” You smiled, holding a hand out to squeeze her shoulder, “Mav’s going to lose his mind.” You joked, nudging her softly. The look she sent your way made you laugh, and when she patted your shoulder you smiled, lowering your head so she could clip the little hat in place, leaving it resting comfortably on one side of your head. You glanced at the reflection in the mirror, loving the little addition, handmade by Penny the day before.  “So,” she started explaining, pointing around the different parts of the bar, “decorations are sort of put up, we have to add a few more by the pool tables, near the darts, but only what won’t be ruined by whoever has bad aim, and down on the porch.”  You nodded, getting to work with the decorations, one of your favorite parts of the holiday, the little skeletons and pumpkins and spiders, a good mix between cute and creepy as you hung them and placed them around the space. It would all look tied in together when the sun would set, leaving the candles and fairy lights to set the mood.
You and Penny ended up chatting for most of the afternoon, the first few clients walking in around the time the sun set, some of them complimenting the decorations, others pretending to be spooked, giving the two of you a thumbs up.  “You’re on until 9pm, then you can go with your sailors.” Penny said with a playful glance once the few orders had been taken care of, reminding you about the deal you and her had for Halloween, knowing how much you enjoyed it and wanting you to have fun while still working, since you had insisted. She also knew about your little crush and teased you relentlessly for it, always urging you to do something about it because of how cute you and Bob would look together.  “Yeah, yeah.” You muttered, turning over to prepare a pint for an old regular, a retired man by now but a good pilot years ago, his years of service shown by the wrinkles on his face and the badges that still adorned his jacket. “Here you go, Paul.” You said softly, handing him his drink.
“Well, well, well. You clean up nicely.” Hangman said loudly the second he walked in, interrupting your small talk with Paul as Coyote, Phoenix and Bob followed behind him, all of them looking you up and down with a smile. You always got along with Hangman, always answering back and never backing down, telling him when he was being a jerk and ringing the bell on him when he was being nothing but annoying.  “Why, thank you, Bagman, and what are you supposed to be?” You asked, leaning over the counter and smirking, the fangs in his mouth, pale skin, exposed veins and bloodied shirt giving a pretty clear idea. “Yeah, he’s original as always.” Spoke Phoenix from behind him, slipping ahead and sitting on one of the free bar stools, placing a little Frankenstein’s Monster plushie on the counter. “You’re one to speak, Doctor.” Hangman scoffed, clearly not having noticed the plushie. “It’s Frankenstein.” She said, rolling her eyes and smiling at you when you placed her drink in front of her, not needing her to order anymore, knowing her choices by now. “Why don’t you have the scar and green skin then?” He asked, as if she was the one in the wrong, still oblivious. “Frankenstein’s the doctor.” You and Bob both said in unison, making Phoenix smirk up at you, another person that had figured out your not-so-secret crush. “Which, arguably, the real monster.” Bob added, knowing that the small freckles drawn on his cheeks were doing nothing to hide his blush. “Good observation, Milo.” You smiled his way, handing him his lemonade.
You loved his costume, not far from his usual attire, wearing a beige tank top and khaki green pants, the easiest clue as to who he was dressed as being the round frames resting on his nose and his hair parted in the middle, always having loved Milo as a character.  His mouth fell open, a silent oh slipping from his lips that only made his blush darken, earning a chuckle from Coyote, his makeup matching Hangman’s, with the only addition of a bite mark on his neck. “He didn’t think anyone would get who he was.” Coyote explained, raising his drink your way in a silent cheer.  “Yeah, I mean who the hell knows about Milo?” Hangman asked, practically draping himself over the stool. “Clearly not you, you didn’t even know about Frankenstein.” You joked, earning a scoff from the blond aviator. “What’s up with your neck?” You then asked Coyote, looking at him instead of granting Hangman more than a glance as you pointed at the two little bite marks, odd on a vampire.  “I can answer this one.” Hangman proudly announced, sitting up straight. “The one thing he knows.” Bob muttered, his voice low enough for you to hear.
No one else seemed to, anyway, making your laughter seem out of place, yet Bob seemed to appreciate it, always loving when he got you to smile or laugh, a personal accomplishment he carried close to his heart. “We decided that I’d clearly be the first one to turn into a vampire, being the jock and all, but as a vampire I’d definitely turn Coyote with me. He’s my best friend, if I’m living forever, he’s suffering along.” He said, landing a loud smack on Coyote’s arm, the other man looking like he was ready to fight back. “I’m kinda surprised to see how much thought went into that, Count Bagman.” You bowed lightly, hoping he’d get at least this reference. He chuckled, tilting his head to the side and smirking as he always did, pointing to the pool tables. “Count Hangman has to show these people how to get beaten by him at pool, will you join us later?”  “Yep. Shift finishes at nine, so I’ll be there around then.” You replied, checking that no other clients needed a refill or wanted to order. “Pretty good. See you in a few hours then!” Phoenix said with a smile, walking her way to the pool table and standing on one end, rolling the sleeves of her white coat up. She looked effortlessly cool, the black dress under the coat suiting her perfectly, and the fishnets were a fun touch, making her look the coolest out of the group of monsters and ghouls that were sitting around the table. “I’ll see you later.” Added Bob softly, giving you a little nod as he made his way to join her, smiling when he heard you shout a see you later, Milo! his way.
Nine pm rolled by quickly, making you sigh in relief when you sat by Nat’s side, joining the conversation effortlessly as you sipped on your drink. It hadn’t been a long shift per se, the bigger part of the work starting an hour before your shift ended, but you were glad to be on the other side of the counter and surrounded by your friends, finally catching up to their stories once more. “So,” Nat spoke after finishing her conversation with Fanboy, leaning more into your side, “Gonna talk to Bob?” “What?” You asked, never having mentioned that you would, too scared of ruining the perfectly great friendship you had built to risk it. “Oh, c’mon. You’ve both been staring at each other all night, and he couldn’t help but keep that blush on his cheeks after you called him Milo. He likes you too.” You shushed her, nudging her back. You wouldn’t talk to him, no, even if you knew that eventually your feelings would bubble out. That, or everyone that knew would carry on looking at you with that teasing or pitiful look. Either way, you could deal with it. “What about you, Nat?” you teased instead, tugging lightly at her white coat, “Got your eyes set on anyone tonight?” She looked around the room, taking a sip from her drink when she found who she was looking for. Following the direction of her gaze, you immediately could tell who she was looking for, the sparkling red dress hard to miss. “Wow. She’s really your type.” “There’s a lot of pretty people tonight.” She defended, looking around, “But yeah, she’s really my type.” She repeated, chuckling against you, setting her empty glass down. “Go order another cocktail. She’s near the bar and probably will come over, and if not…” “If not I don’t chicken out on my feelings like some of my friends.” She muttered, winking at you as she stood, grabbing her glass and making her way to the bar, her eyes darting to the woman as she did, not going unnoticed.  With Natasha chatting to the mystery woman, and you perched on the pool table, jokingly judging each single one of Hangman’s hits, you soon grew tired of the loud music and chatter, needing a moment with some quiet and fresh air. “Count?” You called after he stopped cheering, his smirk still plastered on his face when he moved to look at you, raising an eyebrow. “Yes?” He drawled, resting some of his weight on the cue stick. “Heading out for some fresh air.” He nodded, his smirk dropping to a sincere smile. Your friendship with Hangman wasn’t free of arguments or tense moments, but he always looked out for you, and telling him when you were stepping out of the Hard Deck was one of the things he had asked you to mention, after spending a night with his heart in his throat when he couldn’t find you, the crowds thick and hard to get through. He found you eventually, hiding just by the porch after the overcrowded rooms grew too loud and rowdy, needing the moment of break before heading back in to finish the last hour of your shift.
The porch was full of people, some dressed up and others in regular clothes, so you sneaked further ahead, on the sand, looking at the waves crash and turn into foam, the warm glow of the moon making everything more special. You felt someone sit next to you after some time had passed, looking up to see Bob and smiling at the sight, resting your head on his shoulder, the sound of the waves repetitive enough to make your eyes grow heavy.
“Enjoying the party?” He asked, voice hushed after having to talk so loudly over the music and the chatter. “Yeah. Just needed some fresh air.” You said softly, eyes still closed as you stifled a yawn. He chuckled, grabbing a handful of sand and watching it slip past his fingers, “you sound tired.”  “Haven’t been sleeping too well.” You muttered, lifting your head from his shoulder so that you could look at him. “How come?” He asked quickly, his expression growing slightly worried, something that did nothing to help your quick heartbeat. “Oh, well… I mean, it sounds stupid.” You said with a laugh, his serious expression making you go on as you shuffled, crossing your legs as you fully turned to look at him, your knees resting against his when he mirrored your position. “It started a few nights ago. Things are slightly weird at home, and I know it sounds stupid but it almost feels like there’s a ghost haunting me.”
He looked at you for a moment, expression serious, before his lips twisted upwards, a quiet laugh bubbling from him, easily going unnoticed had it not been for the movement of his shoulders.
You placed your hands over them, holding them down as if that could stop his laughing fit, starting to laugh with him when his hands flew up to grip onto your arms for support, head tilted forward as he tried catching his breath.
“Sorry,” he muttered, looking up to find your face inches away from his, his blush returning as quickly as yours, laughter slowly dying, even if his smile remained. “Sorry.” He repeated, pulling back. “It’s just, the other day you said that ‘ghosts aren’t real’.” You didn’t think he had heard, considering he was all the way at the pool tables. Or was he? You tried thinking back, not remembering him anywhere near Hangman. “Stealth pilot, yeah.” He answered, almost replying to your question. “You didn’t see me, but I had gone to the bathroom. I had just walked past Hangman when you said that.” He continued his explanation, a playful look in his eyes. “Huh. Impressive.” You replied, letting your hands fall on his knees for a moment only, not resisting the touch. “But yeah, a ghost is haunting me, look at that.”  “What kind of haunting?” He asked, suddenly curious. He had always enjoyed paranormal programs, ghost hunting and the likes, even if he was a non-believer, simply not finding the idea of ghosts, ghouls or demons realistic. “Tv turning on and off, motion sensor light activating when no one’s there, doorbell ringing when no one’s there, … oh, weird sounds. Stuff like that.”  “I feel like most of that can be explained. Maybe you need to switch your batteries out?” He offered, still finding the whole situation hilarious. “Sure, everything started happening at the same time four days ago because all of my batteries are dead.”  “Almost dead.” He corrected. “Okay, almost dead.” You said, rolling your eyes, “but if that ghost decides to kill me tonight, my life’s on you.” You joked, this time watching him roll his eyes. “Okay, okay, well, I…” he rarely was shy around you, having grown used to your presence and humor and having hung out enough to truly consider you a friend, but he looked a little uncertain as he spoke, this time. “I could come over, if you’d like. Watch a scary film, catch the ghost, eat candy and tell each other some scary stories.”  “You really don’t want me to sleep, huh?” You jokingly said, pushing his shoulder back to tease him.
“Floyd planning on keeping you up all night?” Phoenix spoke, draping her arms around your shoulders, her words carrying the sweet smell of the strawberry cocktail she was sipping on.  “Nat.” You heard him whisper, sending her a warning glance. You understood the connotation of her words, knowing they were a silent dig at you, not at him. After all, you were the one with the crush. “I have a ghost at home and he offered to help me catch it.” You said looking up at her, her head slipping from resting on the top of your head to rest against your cheek instead. She clearly was a little drunk, taking the chance to be since they had the next day off, and she became a little more clingy than usual when she was.  “Ah, of course he did.” She smirked, and even if you couldn’t see that you could perfectly see Bob’s reaction, his eyes begging her to be quiet while her words tinted his cheeks to the color of her drink. “Well, good look with that.” She mumbled, sending Bob a wink as she slipped back inside, the door clinking as it closed behind her.
You sat in silence for a moment, looking up at the stars, the salty air kissing your skin. He kept his eyes on you, unable to peer them away from your lips, their dark colour suiting you so well.  He truly was bewitched.
“I love the night.” You whispered, looking back down at him. He looked so cute, his hair parted differently and glasses big and round, suiting him almost as much as his regular glasses did. But it was the blue and red neon lights from the Hard Deck that completed the scene, casting purple highlights on his skin, his look almost ethereal, somehow. “Can I take a picture of you?” You asked quietly when he only nodded at your statement, watching him stutter out an answer. “Well, I-… I mean, sure, I just- I… don’t usually look good.”  You pulled up your phone, looking at him through the viewfinder and snapping the first picture, his eyes still wide from your question. “You’re very photogenic, Bob, and you do look good.”  You snapped another picture after speaking your words, his smile genuine in the second snapshot. “Look.” You said, turning the phone his way to show him, his eyes still on you. “Can we take a photo together?” He asked you, this time. You had few photos with Bob, always getting lost in the moments you shared with him, often enjoying the time together too much to remember to document it with a picture. “Sure.” You said, standing to sit next to him, handing him your phone as you rested your head on his shoulder, smiling at the camera.
It was a cute picture, one you surely would print to hang on your wall, his smile soft matching your own, except you both were secretly looking at each other, the cause of your smile kept a secret from one another.
“I like myself next to you.” He said softly, studying the photo on your phone.  It was a simple comment, but it still made you blush, the honesty behind it. You stayed like that for a little while longer, resting your head on his shoulder, stifling a yawn when the tiredness snuck up on you again. “Tired?” He whispered, lowering his hand to meet yours, interlocking your fingers together and squeezing them once out of reflex, feeling how well they fit together. “A little.” You mumbled back, smiling up when you looked at him, his lips a little too close for you to think anything other than how easy it would be to reach up and kiss them.  “Let’s go then.” He said, breaking your thought process and tugging you up with him, his hand never leaving yours. You walked hand in hand in hand, ignoring Phoenix’s look and smirk and just squeezing his hand once, walking towards the rest of the squad to wish them a good night.
He held your hand all the way to your home, thankful that it wasn’t too far, considering that the pretty heels you were wearing that were slowly starting to hurt, but you ended up wishing it was a longer way when his hand slipped out of yours, setting on the small of your back as you opened the door and inviting him in, taking his jacket and leading him to the couch. “Would you like something to drink? I have lemonade.” You offered cheerfully, this whole routine familiar from the many late night chats and occasional movie nights you had shared.
You always made sure to be stocked up, occasionally buying different ones to try to find his favorite, keeping some snacks you knew he liked too, knowing he’d never request anything specific but slowly picking up on what his favorites were. “I’d love that.” He said with a small nod, leaning back and resting his head, grabbing a hold of the remote when you handed it to him.
With the drinks set on the table you sat by his side, going through the movies being shown and settling on a cheesy horror, more than happy to chat rather than watch jocks and cheerleaders being killed one by one. “I’ll put the remote over there, so if the ghost decides to turn the tv off there’s no doubt about it being one of us.” You said with a smirk, choosing to joke about this, no matter how much nervousness it had caused you over the past few days. “Sure. But what if the ghost doesn’t appreciate our film choice?” He teased, pulling his tongue out at you. “Then said ghost will have to suck it up.”
You sat on the sofa, your legs resting on his as the movie played, the blonde cheerleader screaming as she ran away from the killer, the scene cliché enough to not even phase you. “Do you think you’d survive in a horror film?” You asked him after a while, lifting your head to look at him. “People barely see me most of the time, so hopefully a killer also wouldn’t.” He chuckled, hand resting on your leg, the warmth of his hand making your skin buzz beneath it. “I see you.” You said, wishing you were closer to hold his hand, or show him that you cared, somehow. “I know.” He said honestly, smiling.  You kept his eyes on him, feeling like maybe you could say something, but the doorbell went off, making your legs jolt away from his, suddenly feeling tense again. “I’ll go check.” He said, standing and moving towards the door, feeling your hand grip his arm after less than a step. “Not letting you go alone.” You mumbled, knowing he was wondering why you had joined him.  And just like each night, the door was opened to reveal nobody there, the chilly air making its way into the apartment.
Bob took another step forward, stepping outside and keeping you behind him, shielding you from whatever was waiting in the dark. “Hello?” He called out, shushing you when you laughed. “What?” He asked you then, looking at you curiously. “Think you’ll need a ouija board if you want to talk to it.”  “Maybe it wouldn’t be angry if you stopped calling it it.” He said back, pulling his tongue out at you. “You just called it it too.” You argued, smirking up at him. “Guess we’ll just have to be haunted together, then.” He teased, letting go of your hand to wrap his arm around your shoulder instead.
You felt so comfortable in his arms, so safe, and even if you wouldn’t reveal it to him, you couldn’t help the feeling blooming in your chest, and you mentally cursed when you reached the coach again, thinking that he’d let you go, but he didn’t, making you rest on his chest instead as you watched the unfortunate future of those teens, too dumb to make any right choices, it seemed.
He chuckled at the exaggerated scream another character let out, holding onto you as he did. You could barely concentrate, too focused on how it felt to be in his arms, how his heart sounded under your cheek, how his arm was wrapped protectively around you.  You looked up again, taking in how he looked in these lights, the colors changing as the film went on, his lips settled into a relaxed smile, his blue eyes shining bright.  He looked down at you, eyes darting between your eyes and your lips, feeling time slow down. Yet you both looked up when the detective on the screen shouted “Hands up!”, the volume sounding louder that it initially had, making you jolt as the killer was soon to be revealed. You held your breath in, not really for the revelation that was about to happen on the screen, but for what had almost happened between you and Bob.
Your eyes were trailed on the tv, too afraid to look anywhere else as the killer was slowly getting illuminated by the police lights, the camera panning up, reaching higher and higher until…
The tv turned off.
You glanced at the screen, seeing the remote resting near it, glancing up at Bob to prove what you meant. “See? I didn’t turn it off.” You huffed, cheeks still red from the almost-kiss, even if now the paranormal was back in mind.  “This is the most annoying ghost. Right before we get to find out who the killer is.” He muttered, head turning to the side when he saw the motion light turn on.  “Huh.” He hummed at that, furrowing his eyebrows. You tried not to mind that he seemed so normal, unable to see his cheeks in the dark, but still, he didn’t seem bothered by you two almost kissing. Were you reading too much into this? “You see, motion lights usually die when the batteries do, and ghosts wouldn’t activate them, technically.” He said, suddenly an expert ghost hunter. “Which means…?” You trailed on, not liking where this was going. “That this is a person.”
His expression switched from a softer one to a harsher one, seeing what Natasha had once described to you as his “serious look”, one he only donned while taking notes about important maneuvers, up in the air and when he felt in danger.
Only this time he didn’t feel in danger, he felt like you were, which was worse.
“You stay here.” He said sternly, pushing you back against the couch, both of his hands holding your shoulders, not wanting you to move. He was going to deal with this. “I’m going out.” It wasn’t a question, and his eyes were focused, cold, as he looked at you once again, gaze falling to the window behind you, looking over the garden. “You stay here.” He repeated, studying your face for one moment longer before standing and walking out back, his steps quiet enough that you didn’t even hear as he descended the stairs. You couldn’t get his eyes out of your head, how different they looked when they sensed danger, how quickly he leaped into action, how he glanced at your lips once more before going out the door. You cursed yourself for not moving sooner, getting distracted instead by the tv when what you had been waiting for was finally happening.
A scream broke the silence, and your train of thought, mainly, yet not close to Bob’s, meaning it must’ve been the mystery man.  It was when his name was said that you realized who was in your garden.  “Bob?” you heard coming from outside.
Hangman.
You had been scared of Hangman.  Not a ghost, not a demon, not even a creep that had decided on scaring you around Halloween.
No, Hangman.
“What the hell are you doing here? Ow! Ow, ow, Bob, wait!”  You stood, knowing that there was no danger anymore, standing at your door with your arms crossed. You watched as Bob dragged Hangman by the ear up to your front porch, the scene funny enough to make you smile. “Happy Halloween!” He said, trying to free himself from Bob’s hold. “Dick move, Hangman.” You spoke, giving a small nod to Bob, fine with letting him go now, but Bob shook his head, pulling on his ear, making him hiss at the tug. “Dude!” “Apologize.” Bob said back, set on not letting him go until he did. “I’m sorry.” He mumbled, looking more annoyed than sorry. “Did that sound sincere to you?” Bob asked you, his eyes finding yours with a sweetness they had lost when the motion light had turned on, determination having taken its place.  “Not really, no.” You said, playing along. You didn’t really mind, seeing Bob holding Hangman by the ear enough of an apology for you. Actually, this was a great image. You raised a finger, telling Bob to wait a moment, running to the couch and grabbing your phone, opening the camera as you walked out, snapping a picture of the scene. “Oh, c’mon.” He grumbled, trying to pull away. “Apologize once more and you’re free.” Bob said, smirking at you when he saw you were still pointing the phone at them. “I’m sorry.” He said again, this time his tone was deemed sincere enough, making Bob let go of him.
He straightened up, wiping his shirt down in a theatrical manner, swinging the cloak behind his back like a truly ridiculous vampire. “How did you do it all?” You asked, not really out of curiosity, but because you needed to make sure it didn’t happen again.  “Universal remote for your tv. Doorbell was… me ringing your doorbell and hiding.”  “Like a child.” Bob muttered as you nodded along. “Motion sensor was an accident. I just happen to be a physical being.”  You chuckled, shaking your head. “Go enjoy your night, instead of ruining mine.” you said, still annoyed but less so now that you knew what, or who, was causing all of the weirdness.  “No more?” Bob asked, not wanting to be disturbed anymore tonight and not wanting you to get disturbed in the future. “Promise I’ll stop. It just felt funny with the whole ‘ghosts aren’t real’ talk.” Bob hummed, pushing Jake away with a quick good night, having had enough of him.  He reached you and closed the door behind the two of you, smiling when he saw your relief. “We never found out who the killer was.” You muttered, breaking the silence. “No, but we caught the ghost.” He joked, his hand reaching up to rest on your cheek, making your breath get stuck in your throat once again, the touch new and foreign.
You were great friends, and often cuddled, held hands or simply rested on each other, it wasn’t new, but this was, feeling more intimate somehow. “There’s something else I never found out.” He whispered, thumb rubbing your cheek softly as you looked at him, his blue eyes peering into yours once more. “What?” You asked, eyes glancing at his lips before focusing back on the shade of blue you loved so much. “If we were going to kiss.”
He waited, smiling when you nodded, glancing at his lips again.
“Can I kiss you now?” He asked after another moment, leaning a little closer, leaving you to close the distance between the two of you.  “Yes.” You hummed, pushing yourself up to meet his lips, taking a deep breath when you felt him against you, the hand that wasn’t holding your cheek slipping around your waist, pulling you flush against him. Your arms rose to wrap around his shoulders, smiling against his lips when you felt him melt into you, all of that nervousness you had held when it came to him leaving the second he deepened the kiss, pulling away to look at you again, the thumb grazing your cheek falling over your lips, tracing where his had just been. He chuckled, resting his forehead against your own. “So, I promised you a scary movie, and we watched one. Promised to catch a ghost, and we caught him.” He spoke matter of factly, tilting his head to the side, “That leaves…” “Candies and scary stories.” you said, quoting his earlier words. “Now, as much as I don’t think there’s anything as sweet as you…” he trailed on, laughing when you scoffed at his words. “You’re so cheesy.” You said softly, dropping your arms to rest at his waist, holding him close to you.
He tilted his head, reaching down to press a feather-light kiss on your lips, not getting enough of it now that he knew what it felt like.  “I’ll grab some snacks, and we can snuggle on the couch?” You offered, untangling from him and immediately missing him, walking towards the cabinet to grab a few different things, from savory to sweet, along with another bottle of your drinks, the taste of his lemonade still lingering on your lips. “I’d love that, yeah.”  He moved back, grabbing a fluffy blanket and placing it on his legs, waiting for you to place everything on the table before enveloping you in it, his strong arms wrapped around you as he kissed you again. “Out of all the trick or treating I’ve done, this is definitely the best treat.” He whispered as he pulled away, gaze raking over your features before leaning back towards you, your lips meeting his again as you giggled, pulling him closer still against you, not wanting to let him go.

PITCHER’S PROMISE
— a valentine’s day addition to southpaw 💐
Tumblr media
——
Video games have officially become the bane of Sawyer's existence. Over the edge of the porcelain bathtub, her cramped fingers rapidly click a series of buttons on her boyfriend's Game Boy console. She's in the midst of fighting an enemy because, God forbid, they're trying to destroy the ghoul realm.
If she's being honest, nothing about what's happening on the tiny, pixelated screen makes any sense to her, but she's been trying to beat this level for the past hour, and she hates that it's too addictive to put down. Harry had left it behind for her in case she got unbearably bored and resorted to picking out one of his many cartridges so she could immerse herself in a different reality. Well, that's precisely what occurred.
She hasn't seen him in nine days due to a national baseball tour he's on, and she's been awfully lonely. She lives with her parents, but most of the time, she just wants Harry's company.
However, the hole in her heart is temporarily filled whenever he calls her landline or office's fax number, depending on where she is. Still, not seeing his face except on the low-quality television in her bedroom is slowly taking a toll on her sanity.
Not only that, but it's ten o'clock at night on Valentine's Day, and she's stuck at home with no one to celebrate it with.
Sighing defeatedly, Sawyer shuts the console off in the middle of her losing battle and gently sets it on the floor beside the tub. She sinks in the lukewarm water, letting the soap bubbles tickle her chin as two candles flicker beside her. They're orange and vanilla scented, a trick to make it seem like summertime.
Just as she's about to shut her eyes to rest, the monophonic ringtone of her Nokia phone goes off from atop the sink. She contemplates whether she has enough energy to go grab it. No, she's too comfortable. But then again, it could be an emergency.
With a huff, she heaves herself out of the tub and sacrifices her warmth to whoever is calling. She leaves puddles in her path as she reaches the sink and picks up the ringing device. On her way back, she checks the number on the screen. The familiar ten digits instantly cause rapturous butterflies to escape in her stomach, and she eagerly holds the phone against her ear.
"Sunray," she answers, a delighted smile evident in her tone as she submerges her body in the water again. "I was getting worried you wouldn't call."
"Baby." Harry sounds relieved that she picked up, but his voice is terribly worn out due to traveling nonstop. Scratchily and with strain, he asks, "Did I wake you? How have you been sleeping?"
Sawyer cradles her burning cheek and giddily tucks her knees against her chest. "No, I'm taking a bath," she replies softly. "Harry, hi. I miss you so much. It's hard to fall asleep when you're not here to hold me."
He makes a wounded noise, something similar to a whimper. "Fuck, that's a knife to my heart. How's my girl? I miss your pretty face. Hey, guess what? I had a dream about you last night. We were giggling and making out on the beach."
"Did you wake up kissing your pillow?"
"Yeah. Wished it was you instead."
She shivers, even with the warm water engulfing her. "Soon. Only three more days until we can make that dream come true."
A desperate hum of agreement blossoms through her phone speaker. "How was work, by the way? What's the 411? Any juicy gossip making rounds in the cubicles?"
Sawyer rolls her eyes in amusement and says, "It went fine, just really boring. I've been dozing off since I got home, so I played your stupid quest game to stay awake."
"And how did that go?" Harry pries with a hint of humor.
"Awful," she grumbles, popping a soap bubble before it floats to the ceiling. "I gave up after an hour. The ghoul realm can fend for itself."
Laughing. He's laughing at her futile attempt. "Tough luck, buttercup. Not everyone has the gift of being a master ghoul slayer."
"Whatever." She steers the conversation in a different direction by mentioning, "I heard your game got canceled today in Baltimore because of the weather. Is everyone safe?"
"'Twas only a wee little storm," he reassures in a random Scottish accent for a reason unbeknownst to Sawyer. Jet lag delirium might be the case. "Appreciate you asking, though. You're sweeter than a Georgia peach."
"I'm happy to hear that. And your flight home is on Wednesday, right?"
It's dead silent on the other line long enough for sneaking suspicion to settle in. Sawyer has to double-check the phone screen to make sure they didn't somehow disconnect by accident.
Eventually, Harry says, "Uh, slight change of plans. I may or may not be in Orlando already."
Sawyer freezes, her heart skipping a beat. "What? Right now? What are you talking about?"
"The game got rescheduled for next month, so we had the option to go home early since that was the last stop on tour."
A flicker of hope causes her lips to break into a beautiful smile. "Where are you?" she dares to ask, anxiously biting her thumbnail.
"Attica Lane, third house on the left," he says coyly. "I see a pink light coming from a window upstairs. Perhaps a lava lamp?"
She gasps and sits up like a bat out of hell, causing some water to slosh over the sides of the tub and splat onto the tiles. "As if! Are you serious?"
His gleeful, airy laugh confirms it. "Open your front door and find out. Hurry up, though. It's cold and lonely out here."
Sawyer squeals happily and hangs up, then gets out of the tub to grab a towel. She dries off her dripping body in record time, then throws on one of Harry's shirts that he gave her. It goes down to her knees. Letting her hair fall free from her rumpled bun, she lets out another squeal and bounces on the balls of her feet. She can't believe he's here in time for Valentine's Day. Granted, there are less than two hours left of the holiday, but every second with him is well spent.
After blowing out the candles and almost catching her hair on fire in the process, she races down the staircase as quickly as possible and rounds the corner toward the front door. She clumsily unlocks the deadbolt and turns the knob to open the door, a click resounding throughout the house. Her heart is pounding, and it's like she can feel his energy from the other side.
Oh, she could just about burst into tears of joy because of the sight in front of her.
Harry is casually standing there like the leading man in a rom-com, his ankles crossed and a bouquet of flowers covering his face. He's wearing an off-white button-down with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows and Tiffany Blue trousers with matching suspenders clipped to them. His athletic duffel bag is slung over his shoulder, contrasting his ornate outfit.
Sawyer will worry about being severely underdressed later. She can't even think straight right now.
"You're actually here," she says in disbelief.
Her beloved boyfriend theatrically reveals his face, an open-mouthed smile greeting her. "Hi. I was gonna be cheesy and throw rocks at your window, but I know that would've scared the crap out of you."
Sawyer can't help herself. She pounces forward and jumps into his arms like a flying squirrel, hooking her legs around his waist and squeezing him so close until she's inhaling his Old Spice cologne that she's missed dearly. Harry grunts and takes an unbalanced step backward from the force in which she does so but quickly catches her with one strong arm around her body, the other still holding the bouquet.
"Missed you so fuckin' much," he murmurs, his duffel bag sliding off his shoulder and hitting the floor with a clunk. "Do you know how miserable I was? Do you know what you do to me? To my heart?"
She pulls back and admires him with teary eyes, observing any changes that might have sprouted in the last nine days. The first thing she notices is that his nose is slightly red from standing outside her house for who knows how long. She smacks a loud kiss onto it, causing it to involuntarily wrinkle.
"My boy," she sighs blissfully while planting an equal number of kisses onto his deep, visible dimples. "Happy Valentine's Day."
Harry hikes her up more so that she towers over him. "I'm here," he says, his voice sounding raspier in person. “As soon as the game got canceled, I packed my bags and flew straight here. I couldn't go any longer without seeing you."
"You didn't stop to visit your parents?"
He dumbly shakes his head with an unaware smile, appearing lost. "No..."
"Harry!" she scolds as a laugh climbs up her throat.
"Is that a problem?" he asks, his gaze completely entranced by her lips. "Hmm? What're you trying to tell me?" He steals two kisses from her, both deep and borderline bruising. "You tellin' me you don't wanna make out with your boyfriend right now?"
"I didn't say that—" Another fervent kiss cuts her off abruptly, and Sawyer melts into it this time, becoming conscious of how much she missed his lips. The peach fuzz growing along his jaw and under his nose tickles her skin as she moves her mouth against his, a sign that he's been too exhausted to shave. She doesn't care if it feels like sandpaper rubbing on her freshly washed face; the softness of his lips overpowers it.
After a minute of making out like a couple of smitten teenagers, Harry finally sets her feet on the floor and presents the bouquet. "These are red camellia flowers," he explains breathlessly, licking his swollen bottom lip. "I surfed the web, and the Old Farmer's Almanac said they symbolize being a flame in someone's heart."
Sniffing the fragrant petals, Sawyer asks, "What does that even mean?"
"Dunno," he drawls sleepily. Oh gosh. She's worried his next blink will have him tipping over and falling asleep on her doorstep. "Sounds right, though, doesn't it?"
"Coming from your mouth, I suppose it does." She clasps her hands on his cheeks and stands on her tiptoes to nonverbally thank him with a gracious kiss. He lazily smiles into it before Sawyer giddily tugs him inside the house and toward the cozy ambiance of her bedroom. "Speaking of flowers," she continues distractedly, still dizzy from making out, "I also got you some."
Sawyer goes to the far side of her room to grab the mason jar on her windowsill, which is stuffed full of stems with an abundance of tiny white blossoms. She sets the bouquet of camellia flowers down in its place. When she spins around, she comes face-to-face with Harry, who's pretending he didn't just get caught looking over her shoulder.
"Hi," he whispers, innocently tapping his foot on the carpet.
She internally melts when she notices his tired eyes. "Do you want to go to bed? This can wait until tomorrow."
He shakes his head, albeit letting out a ferocious yawn. "It's our first Valentine's Day as a couple. Don't wanna waste it by zonking out."
"Okay. Well, here." She nervously thrusts forward the jar. "These are baby's breath. They, um, represent everlasting love. I know it's stupid, but—"
"Sawyer Alejandra, are these for me?" he interrupts teasingly.
She could have gotten him a classic bouquet of roses or an elegant arrangement of tulips. Yet when the nice lady behind the counter told her the meaning behind the flower with a delicacy that rivaled Harry's, the hidden romantic side of her won.
"Hand-picked specifically for you," Sawyer says quietly, hoping the moonlight shining through the window doesn't accentuate the blush staining her cheeks. "Someone was selling flowers downtown at the Plant Street Market, and I couldn't resist."
Harry smoothly grabs her hand and pulls her in for a suffocating hug, being careful of the flowers between their bodies. "Wait, did you say they represent everlasting love?" he mumbles curiously.
"Maybe."
"What's that all about, honeybee? Can't get enough of my sweetness?"
She releases herself from his trap of love before she tackles him out of sheer adoration. "Go change into something more comfortable. I need to brush my teeth."
Once that's done and Harry is in his pajamas, which consist of a retro graphic tee and a white pair of boxers (as well as his prescription tortoiseshell glasses he doesn't wear enough), Sawyer scoots over on her twin bed to make room for him. She's working on saving money for a bigger bed since they both have fallen off too many times whenever they have sleepovers.
As the electric fan on her nightstand hums lowly, they sit against the headboard and look at each other. It's not awkward nor a mystery as to why they're doing it. It's simply a moment where Sawyer soaks her sunray in, realizing that maybe absence really does make the heart grow fonder. And in that moment, she can feel something cosmic break through the silence. A shrouded love that went unspoken for years is now center stage and glowing magnificently.
Nothing glows brighter than when the stars align.
Harry makes the first move by taking her hand in his. "I have something else for you," he says, swallowing and shifting closer to her. "It's sort of a Valentine's Day gift mixed with an early six-month anniversary gift."
Another gift? Doesn't he know his presence alone is enough for her?
Sawyer's eyes dance around his figure, noticing his timid body language. "You're making me nervous."
He gives her a handsome smile and pertly kisses her knuckles. "Good kind or bad kind?"
"Depends on the gift."
While tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, he tells her, "Check under your pillow."
She pulls back and makes a face at him. "When did you put something there?"
"It's always been there, silly goose."
"Yeah, right." Sawyer reaches under her pillow and moves her hand around until it hits something solid. She grasps the unknown object, pulls it out, and then opens her palm. What lies there is a black ring box.
"Sawyer," Harry starts after clearing his throat, still holding her hand, "I miss you all the time. When I'm thousands of miles away, I call just to hear your sweet voice. When I can't sleep at night, I think about you until I dream about you. Even when you're right beside me, and I'm smothering you with affection, I still can't seem to get enough."
Her eyes widen in unforeseen panic. "Are you proposing right now? Harry, I don't think I'm—"
"Not yet, baby," he says with a quiet laugh. He nods his head toward the box in her hand. "Take a look."
Sawyer shivers at his weighted statement that he spoke as a light breeze. She waits until her goosebumps go away, then gently lifts the top of the box to reveal a beautiful gold ring resembling the top half of the sun.
"This... gosh, this is stunning!" She looks at him, mouth agape. "I love it. Thank you so much."
Harry plucks it out of the silky cushion and slides the band on her ring finger. It fits perfectly, the aureate metal complementing her tan skin.
"For when it's dreary in Orlando, and your sunray can't be here with you."
Sawyer admires it for a little longer and then gives him a big hug, which he reciprocates with an even bigger hug. "I love you," she says into his neck. “You're the absolute sweetest."
"Love you forever." He pulls away and gives her a gentle noogie. "It's also, like, a promise ring if you're comfortable calling it that. It's just that I love making you happy. I swear, making you smile and laugh is my favorite thing to do, and I... Sawyer, I want to do that for as long as you'll let me." He lets a tender kiss linger on her lips before vulnerably murmuring, "Please let me."
She cradles his face like it's made of glass and nods firmly. "I'll let you. I promise."
Harry holds his pinky out, and Sawyer hooks hers around it without a second thought. "Can I tell you another thing?" he asks, using their interlocked pinkies to push his glasses further up the bridge of his nose.
"Anything."
His eyes pinch shut. "I get scared whenever I have to leave you for a long time. I get this weird feeling in my belly."
She tilts her head to the side. "How come?"
One corner of his mouth downturns, and it shatters her heart. Shrugging meekly, he mutters, "Because I don't want you to forget about me."
She stares at him with cloaked bewilderment. He really doesn't know how often he crosses her mind or how often he's made her feel like the only girl in the world. Maybe it's her fault for not telling him enough. Either way, it's appalling that a boy like him can't see how remarkable he is. She would do anything to experience life through his eyes.
"Harry," Sawyer says with the utmost sincerity, "how could I ever forget about you? When I see the sun, my first thought is you."
His eyebrows raise at her candidness. "Wow. Have you ever considered becoming a romance novelist?"
"I'm serious," she says, fidgeting with his long fingers. "Don't deflect, okay? Let me love you with my words."
"I'm sorry." Apologetic lips press against her forehead for two seconds. "Sorry. I'm just so scared of getting this wrong. You're the best thing to ever happen to me, and I'd never forgive myself if I screwed it up."
"You do everything right." Is it really not obvious? "Just listen to me for a moment. I feel like I don't compliment you enough."
Harry blinks sluggishly and works his way down the bed until they're both lying down, facing each other in close proximity. "I'm all ears. If I fall asleep, it's only because your voice is like a lullaby."
Sawyer feels her fatigue wash over like an ocean tide under the moonlight. "You are so beautiful," she tells him, the dim glow from her lava lamp making his facial features appear softer. "I love how your lips are the same color as the bubblegum you always chew. They taste like it too." She inhales and shifts her head on the pillow to get a better look at her boyfriend. "I also love your eyes. The crinkles around them when you're happy make me swoon. And don't even get me started on your dimples."
"Stop, baby." Harry buries his face in her pillow and lets out an embarrassed whine.
"And I love your nose so much. Did you know it moves when you talk? Isn't that something?"
"Hate you right now," he grumbles.
"Look at me." She pushes his head until it tilts back. "What I love most is your heart. I'd live there if I could."
"You already do. Moved in the summer of '87."
Sawyer giggles for some reason or another. It's probably giddiness; she's too sleepy to make sense of anything. Harry tries to stifle his laughter, but it comes out in infectious bursts. Breathy and raspy, the sound could undoubtedly open the gates of heaven.
There's a stretch of comfortable silence before his eyebrows dip in thought. "Hey, would you ever want to live with me? Like, actually?"
"Would I—" She briefly pauses, air leaving her lungs in an astounded exhale. "Would I ever live with you? Of course. Yes, absolutely."
Sawyer had fantasized about it even before Cupid struck her with his gold-tipped arrow. Visions of waking up slowly beside Harry in a much bigger bed to sprawl out on, sunrise snuggles and klutzy kisses passing the time before rumbling stomachs disrupt their bliss. Admiring him from her place on the kitchen countertop, watching him flip pancakes while he's shirtless and humming along to the radio. Staying up until midnight creeps around, consuming outlandish game shows on the television and throwing popcorn into each other's mouths. Lying on the backyard hammock in the summer, sticky popsicle lips cooling sweaty skin. Dancing in the driveway during a rainstorm, feeling like the only two people who exist solely for each other.
Soulmate. That's the word.
Harry rubs at his eyes with a shy smile, seemingly having drifted off into a reverie about it too. "Okay. Can we do that soon? I mean, whenever you're ready. But soon, please. I want permanent sleepovers." He's quiet for a few seconds before languidly adding, "I love the smell of your house. If I could bottle it as a cologne, I'd wear it 24/7."
Sawyer scratches his scalp. "You need to sleep. You're so jet-lagged right now."
"Sleep is for the bleak," he mumbles, his lips barely moving from being smushed against the pillow. "Wait... that's not right. Is it weak?" He pokes her side like a needy child. "Sawyer, how does that phrase go again?"
"Put your beams away, sunray. Let the moon have her moment."
He shakes his head stubbornly. "Tell me about your day. What's the scoop? Where did you go? Who did you talk to?"
"Shush, your voice needs rest," she says gently, pulling some of his hair up in a ponytail. “It sounds like you ate a bowl of gravel."
Making a displeased noise of protest, he further insists, "But I wanna talk to you."
Every delayed movement and drawled speech of his is becoming more prominent. Maybe talking to him is the most efficient way to get him to doze off. Plus, it's tough to say no when he's in a state of such endearing drowsiness.
"Fine. You get one question to ask me."
Harry's lips slowly tug up in a smile. "Oh, are you an oracle now?" he teases, accidentally knocking his bony knee against her shin when he shifts his legs. "Oopsie. Sorry."
Sawyer whimpers from the fleeting pain before pulling the blanket over both of their bodies. "Is that your question?"
"No, gimme a second to think of a good one," he replies with a pout. After a moment of serious pondering, he asks, "When did you first realize you were in love with me?"
It's an unexpectedly profound question that comes from somewhere deep and locked away in his heart. Sawyer was ready to receive an odd question about conspiracy theories or the existence of aliens, not one that elicits an answer she couldn't possibly form into a coherent sentence.
"I'm not sure if there was a specific moment," Sawyer says, tracing Harry's cheekbone with her thumb. "It happened gradually, I think. I obviously thought you were attractive from the get-go, but I fell in love with your personality once I got to know it better. You're one hell of a charmer."
Harry's eyes close, yet he still has enough energy to confess, "I fell for you so fast. Did you know that? God, I was crazy about you. Still am, but all those years of being too cowardly to admit my feelings were like a volcano waiting to erupt. Then that perfect night in September" — he makes an explosion noise with his mouth — "made my heart overflow with red-hot love lava. Hey, just like your lava lamp. If it wasn't pink, that is."
This is what happens when he's on the verge of sleep. He talks and talks until his sentences jumble together, and bizarre similes are somewhere mixed in between. She's concerned he won't have a working voice in the morning.
"Sunray."
"Hmm?"
Sawyer takes off his glasses and folds them before setting them on her nightstand. "Let's go on a date tomorrow where we can talk about it all we want. The sooner we go to sleep, the faster we can wake up."
Harry tangles his legs with hers, tucking her into his warm body. "Yay," he whispers excitedly. "Can we go to Tinker Field and make out under the bleachers? Or in the dugout? Whichever you prefer, I don't mind."
"At least take me out to dinner first," she quips.
The joke flies right over his head as he slips further into unconsciousness. "Sure, we can do that. There's that new Mexican restaurant on Orange Avenue. I want to try their queso fritos. Maybe we can make some for breakfast instead and have a cooking day or something."
She desperately wishes she could continue the conversation, but the heat radiating from his body is putting her under a sleep spell. "Mm-hmm. Goodnight."
Harry inhales deeply with a stretch, then wraps her tightly in his arms. "Sweet dreams, Valentine."
A kiss from the sun seals onto her skin, promising lasting love for as long as she lets him.
Infinity is what she chooses.

Welcome to another Joel and y/n fic. One of these times I’d like to write one that has the breakout, because zombies have always really freaked me out lol.
Anyway, in this fic, Sarah is 9, and y/n is her 4th grade teacher. Obviously it gets GOOOOOOD later on hehe. This fic was an idea recommended by @viclgrd ❤️
As always, pleaaaase enjoy.
Part two is here
Part three is here
Part four is here
Final part is here
Part One
18+ only
Tw: mention of cancer, mention of death, panic attacks, anxiety
4,770 words
Joel POV
"Sarah, come on!" I urge my very stubborn nine year old daughter.
There's nothing I love more in this world than her. She's a spitting image of my late wife, and she was honestly an easy, laid-back baby with a surprisingly calm toddler stage. Getting her to school is the only real issue I've faced with her.
Sarah loves to sleep. I've taken her to pediatricians with my concerns on why she loves to be in bed so much, but they assured me it's only due to her enjoyment of it, and the fact that she's constantly growing, making her more fatigued. Waking her up every morning before I have to go to work is difficult, and rather taxing. Luckily, I'm able to leave right after I walk her to her bus stop, always making it to work in the nick of time.
I'd like to say that I'm a good father to Sarah. My wife passed away when our daughter was only one, so Sarah doesn't have any memory of her. I've always wondered if that made it easier, never knowing her, but I've always been too terrified to ask how she feels. She's still so young that I don't want to fill her head with dark and agonizing subjects.
Of course I'll talk about her mother if she asks and explain that she passed away from cancer, but I never linger on her death with Sarah. I always do my best to turn it into a beautiful, light thing, hoping that she never develops that crippling anxiety in her sternum as I have.
"Daddy, why can't you ever take me to school?" Sarah whines as she holds my hand, both of us leaving the house.
"Because," I begin as I peer down at her, "I have to work, baby."
Her eyes twinkle up at me with their hazel hue, my lips twitching up as I admire her, completely enamored with my little girl.
"So many other kids at school have their parents visit them for lunch. Can you visit me one day?" her gaze becomes teary.
I crouch down once we're at our stop sign, giving her a kiss between her brows. "Hey," I say softly, "don't cry. I'll ask when I go in today if I can have lunch with you sometime soon, okay?"
Sarah nods with excitement, wrapping her little arms around my neck. "Thank you."
Her gentle embrace and the softness of her solemn voice tugs at my heart, making me want to just quit my job so I can stay here to hug her all day.
The bus pulls up, hissing to a stop as the doors sigh, opening with a slight squeak.
"Have a good day, baby," I kiss my fingertips, waving her off as she steps onto her bus, her head scarcely turning to give me a mildly forlorn smile.
Working in construction as I do, I'm never able to take my lunch at Sarah's school. Not only are our lunches at different times, but my jobs are usually over a half an hour away or more. It's a demanding and grueling occupation, but it pays well and allows us to live comfortably; not living paycheck-to-paycheck as we used to.
When my wife passed, I was utterly, wholly gutted. Within a month of us finding out she had cancer, she was gone. It was dreadful knowing she was in pain, knowing there was nothing I could do to help her, and watching her rapidly decline until she drew in her last weak, delicate breath on this earth.
I promised her I'd take care of Sarah, and raise her to be as incredible as she was. Every single fiber in me prays that I'm doing everything exactly as she would've wanted it.
Being alone for the last eight years hasn't been difficult for me by any means. I've gone on a few dates here and there, but never anything that has stuck with me. It's usually just one date and then it's over, never hearing from the woman again, or I never reach out.
Part of me enjoys the wilderness within where my heart lies dried up in the sun. There's no possible way I can ever be left or have my heart broken if I'm alone. I'd be perfectly content with never having a woman again; just me and Sarah until she's old enough to move out and get on with her own life. She may only be nine, but I think about her growing up every day, and how in another nine years, she'll be graduating high school.
Those thoughts always fill me with sheer, all-consuming panic, knowing that she'll be leaving one day, and I'd never prevent her from doing so. All I want is for her to be happy and live the picturesque life she deserves, and she can't do that if I'm already having empty nest syndrome before she's even in the double digits.
On the drive to work, my cell phone begins ringing through the Bluetooth of my truck. My heart stops when I see it’s Sarah’s school, immediately answering the call.
“Hello?” I try to keep my voice steady.
“Hello, Mr. Miller! This is Principal Sanders, and I’m just reaching out to all the parents of students in Mrs. Peters’ class to let them know that unfortunately she won’t be returning to school this year. She’s still out with a broken hip after her fall, and we’re afraid she won’t make a full recovery as soon as we anticipated.”
My pulse settles, relieved Sarah is okay. “Oh, I’m so sorry. I know Sarah loves her, so I’m sure she’ll be sad.”
“Aw, that’s very good to know! We’re having a welcoming party for the new teacher tomorrow at the park right across the street from the school. We thought we’d make it a special occasion to lift the student’s spirits a bit about Mrs. Peters. We’re just doing a little head count to see how much pizza we should order. This isn’t going to be school funded, it’s just some of the staff getting together to welcome her. Are you and Sarah interested in joining?”
I shrug as I keep my eyes fixed on the road. “Sure. I’d like to chip in if you’re accepting donations, or I could even bring some food myself.”
“That’s very nice of you, Mr. Miller. That would be a big help either way.”
“What time? It’s Saturday, so I don’t always work on those days.”
“It’ll be at one o’clock.”
I’ll just make sure I don’t pick up any overtime tomorrow. I usually always try to, just for the extra money, but it would be nice to take a day off and go to the park with Sarah.
“Okay. We’ll be there. I’ll bring two pizzas and maybe a tray of cookies.”
“Thank you so much, Mr. Miller. That’s very appreciated. See you tomorrow.”
“Bye, Mrs. Sanders. See you tomorrow.”
We hang up, my lungs letting out a gentle sigh of relief. I’ve never gotten a random call from Sarah’s school like that except for when she’s sick, and I always seem to be assuming the absolute worst about everything. Truthfully, I think it’s the left over apprehension I feel from my wife’s passing.

“Hi, I have a pizza order under Joel,” I say as I look around the pizza shop, the teenager at the register sighing at me.
“Your total is twenty-five dollars even,” the boy replies flatly.
My fingers fish into my wallet, handing him cash as a woman comes up beside him and places my pizzas on the counter. The boy takes my money as I grip the pizzas in my hand, the warmth from the bottom of the box radiating through my palm.
The door to the pizza place dings its bell as I leave, making a b-line for my idling truck that has Sarah in the passenger seat with a tray of cookies on her lap.
“Here, let’s put these on the floor,” I say as I set the pizzas onto the ground beneath her. “Just don’t step on ‘em.”
“Foot pizza doesn’t sound good to me, dad,” she giggles, making me laugh with her. “I’m excited to see my friends!”
“Will Rachel be there today?”
She nods enthusiastically as we head toward the park. “Yeah, she’s supposed to be. Everyone was really excited about it yesterday in class. I know some people couldn’t get their parents to go, though.”
“Well, at least Rachel will be there,” I beam at her before turning my eyes back to the road in front of me.
“And us,” she replies fondly. “I didn’t think we’d be able to go. You always work on Saturdays.”
“I know, but I thought it would be nice to just hang out in the park with you for the day.”
“Thank you,” Sarah says softly. “I love you.”
“I love you too, honey.”
Pulling up to the park, I see several children and parents everywhere. It looks like her entire class has shown up, the thought of Sarah being able to see all her friends making me happy for her. I’m really glad I decided to not get that overtime in today. She deserves to have some fun.
Sarah carries the cookie tray as I carry the two pizzas, opting for just cheese and pepperoni. My eyes land on the principal, guiding Sarah towards her with my palm on her shoulder. She’s so ecstatic that she nearly ran away with the damn cookies.
“Hello, Mr. Miller. Sarah,” the principal says warmly. “You can set everything down here,” she gestures to a table.
“Hey, Sarah,” I hear from beside me. “Is this your dad?”
“Yep!” she replies. “This is my dad, Joel!”
After setting the pizza down, I turn with an outstretched hand, my breath being caught in my throat as I take in the appearance of Sarah’s new teacher. She’s absolutely stunning, and my god she looks young. Sarah’s last teacher was easily in her mid-sixties, but this one can’t even be thirty yet.
“Hi, Mr. Miller. I’m Sarah’s new teacher, Ms. Y/l/n, but you can call me y/n.” Her voice is feminine and light, making goosebumps trail across my skin as our palms connect.
“Please, call me Joel,” I reply with a quick lick of my lips.
Sarah toddles away, joining several of her classmates on the playground.
“I’ve only been teaching them for a day, but Sarah is the most well-behaved,” she leans in to whisper. “And no, I haven’t said that to every parent,” y/n giggles.
Her little laugh forces me to join her, my nose being caressed with the scent of her perfume from her standing so close to me.
“Well, I’m glad. She was the easiest child, really.”
“Do you have any others?” she asks, her eyes on mine, completely melting me.
I shift, doing my best to focus on the conversation rather than her effortless beauty. “No,” I smile. “Just her.”
“I’m an only child, too,” y/n grins, her eyes flitting over to the playground briefly before meeting my gaze again.
“I wasn’t lucky enough,” I tease, watching a laugh pass her delicate, rosy lips. “I have an older brother.”
“I always wished to have a sibling, but my parents were never successful when trying again.” Her voice fills with melancholy. “My mom had ovarian cancer, so it was pretty impossible to conceive after me. I was a miracle baby.”
My brows fit together, that familiar anxiety blooming in my chest at the mention of cancer. I place my hand on my sternum, as if I’m trying to catch that feeling and push it down.
“I’m sorry,” is all I can muster out to say. “My late wife passed away from cancer when Sarah was one.”
Why did I say that? I’ve never spoken about her to anyone other than family before, but for some reason, I felt the need to tell y/n.
Her hand reaches out and rests on my bicep. “I’m so sorry,” her gentle eyes soften even further. “My mom died when I was ten, and my father just passed away last year.”
“My god,” I respond with disbelief. “You’re way too young to have lost both of your parents already.”
Y/n’s eyes track to her hand that rests against my arm, quickly removing it as she clears her throat. “Oh, they were older when they had me, but still not old enough to pass away.”
“How old were they, if you don’t mind me asking?”
She smiles. “I don’t mind at all. My mom was only forty-six when she passed, and my dad was older, he was seventy-six.”
“They were a few years apart, then?”
“Sixteen,” y/n laughs awkwardly. “Everybody always finds that so strange, but they didn’t see how in love they were. I never saw them fight once.”
“That’s beautiful, y/n,” I smile warmly at her.
She blinks up at me, tucking her gorgeous hair behind her ear as her body shifts. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to get so depressing.”
“No,” I laugh lightly, shaking my head. “You didn’t. It’s life.”
Her lips spread with that breathtaking grin, my eyes all over her face before a voice rips me from my waking dreaming at her parted mouth.
“Hi, Ms. Y/l/n! This is my mom,” the little boy turns to his mother. “Can I go play now?”
The woman laughs, nodding.
The boy dashes away, joining the rest of the kids on the playground. My head bobs around a bit, looking for Sarah until I finally spot her, seeing her go down the slide with a vast grin on her face. I smile fondly at her, feeling guilty that I was so caught up in a conversation with her teacher, that I forgot to check on her.
Y/n and the mother of the little boy begin chatting, so I quietly make an exit, sitting down at one of the picnic tables with a full bottle of water in front of me.
My fingers twist the plastic top open, the crack of the seal popping as I press the bottle to my lips, tossing it back for a drink. I can’t help but gaze at y/n, taking in her figure with complete admiration. She’s wearing a yellow sundress that comes down to her knees, pairing it with a white cardigan over the straps. Her feet are donned in ivory flats that match the unnecessary cardigan she has on her arms.
It’s Texas, and it’s hot as hell out here. Maybe I’m being a bit of a pervert, though. Her skin is absolutely flawless in every sense of the word, and I just want to see more of it. I haven’t been this taken back by a woman since I first met my wife. That thought consumes my chest with guilt, a sharp pang internally piercing my abdomen.
My hand grips my stomach through my shirt, the tips of my fingers digging into the fabric. My wife had told me that she wants me to move on once she passes, and I’ve tried, but I haven’t found anybody. I haven’t even slept with anyone since her, only a few dates here and there that didn’t even end up with a kiss.
“Joel?” a voice interrupts my racing thoughts. “Are you okay?”
I look up to meet the eyes of y/n, soft and vast with concern. “Yes,” I answer quickly. “Just a little light headed. I think I need to eat.”
Her gaze loses a bit of its scrutiny. “Let me grab you some pizza or something. Do you have low blood sugar?”
I laugh. “No, I don’t.”
Y/n briefly leaves, returning with two slices of meat lover’s pizza on a paper plate. “You seem like a meat guy.”
“I am, actually,” a laugh pushes past my lips, my anxiety slowly easing away as I grab the plate of food, taking a bite. “Thank you.”
She sits adjacent from me, a piece of pizza in front of her as well. “You’re getting some color to your face again,” she chuckles.
“Did you really think I was so old that I had diabetes?”
Y/n laughs loudly, her head thrown back, exposing her kissable throat. “Diabetes isn’t always an old person thing, Joel. You could have type one, which you could be born with.”
“You didn’t really answer my question,” I tease.
Her cheeks flush with a hint of maroon, a satisfied smile spreading onto my own face. “No, I don’t think you’re old.”
“God, I feel it. I’ll be forty-one this year, Sarah will be ten. It’s crazy.”
“I’ll be twenty-five, and I’d like to complain about how I feel old, but I feel like you’d just judge me,” she beams vastly.
“I’d never judge you,” I say gently. “I was the most scared of turning thirty, though. It was like I should’ve been planning my retirement already.”
Y/n laughs heartily. “That’s how I feel now. I only just finished college a year ago, and I’m already a teacher. When will I need to plan my retirement?”
I chuckle. “Not for a long time.” My eyes flick between hers, “What made you want to be a teacher?”
A fond smile parts her lips. “My mom was a fourth grade teacher, and I wanted to be just like her.”
“She’d be proud of you,” I say before even thinking. “Sorry,” I instantly apologize, shaking my head. “It just came out.”
“No,” she beams wide. “Don’t apologize. You’re very kind, Joel.”
“Hey, there you are,” a deep voice echoes throughout the shaded gazebo.
An attractive, tall man saunters over to y/n, giving her a quick peck on the cheek that she awkwardly leans towards him for.
“Oh, hi. Joel, this is my fiancé, Sam. Sam, this is one of my student’s parents, Joel,” y/n says with her delicate voice that reminds me of wispy summer clouds.
“Nice to meet you,” Sam nods as he shakes my hand, sitting down beside y/n.
I can’t help but feel disappointed by the fact that she isn’t single, not like I had a chance anyway. Her fiancé does seem to be older though, appearing closer to my age than to hers. He has brown hair with a red tint to it, and bright blue eyes that pin you into place. It’s not hard to miss his light Scottish accent, or his incredibly toned physique. If this is her type, I definitely never had a chance.
“Oh, fiancé,” I say nonchalantly. “Congratulations.”
Y/n shifts as Sam wraps his arm around her shoulders, placing a kiss against her temple. “Thank you,” she says, but not without a hint of disdain in her tone.
“I’ve been trying to urge her to start planning the wedding, but it’s been a year since I proposed and still nothing,” he says humorously.
“And I’ve been focusing on my career,” y/n replies sharply, but with a clear faux smile on her face. “So, I haven’t had time for much else.”
“Hire someone,” Sam says through gritted teeth. “It isn’t difficult, darling.”
My head moves around the incredibly uncomfortable situation in front of me, spotting Sarah on the swings beside Rachel. Part of me wishes there was some sort of excuse I could use to leave this picnic table, but I’m afraid I’m glued here against my will.
“Ms. Y/l/n?” a student comes up beside her, “I brought these for you.” The girl hands her a bouquet of flowers, y/n’s entire face lighting up.
“Oh, my goodness, Felicity! Thank you so much!” She places her nose against one of the roses. “I love roses. They’re my favorite.”
The girl bashfully giggles as she walks away, the mother coming up to speak to y/n.
“She insisted on getting you flowers,” the mother gushes with enthusiasm. “I’m happy to see the kids love you so much after your first day. Clearly you’re a wonderful replacement.”
“Oh, thank you so much. I didn’t feel like I did anything special, but I’m glad they like me. They’re all so amazing.”
The mom smiles fondly as she walks away towards the pizza table, grabbing herself some food.
I honestly feel guilty that we didn’t bring anything specifically for y/n. The thought didn’t even cross my mind, and now I know I have to make up for it. Perhaps I could send Sarah to school on Monday with something special for her. Would that come off as creepy, though? That’s the last thing I want to do, is freak her out.
Sam stands up and walks away, adding some fruit onto a plate from one of the platters.
“I’m really sorry you had to witness that,” y/n says quietly. “I specifically asked him not to come.”
“Oh, it’s okay. I understand,” I smile politely. “He seems like a nice guy.”
Her eyes wander over to him, a forlorn expression spreading onto her perfect face. “Yeah.”
I catch a glimpse of Sarah running past me, completely sweaty as she dives her arm into the cooler to fish out a bottle of water for herself. Her eyes meet mine and she gives me an excited wave as she chugs her drink. I wave back with a small laugh, watching as she tosses the empty bottle out and runs back to the playground with her friends.
“She adores you,” y/n says softly. “Everybody introduced themselves in class yesterday, and she talked about you.”
A warmth spreads in my chest. “Really? What did she say?”
“She just said that your name is Joel, you work in construction, and that you’re the best dad in the world.”
My cheeks ache as I smile, laughing slightly. “I love that kid so damn much.”
“I can tell,” y/n replies with a vast grin. “She’s a lucky girl.”
“Please, I’m the lucky one. When I told you she was an easy kid, I meant it. I’ve had to raise her alone for the last eight years, and it’s almost like she knew I was a single parent. She never made anything difficult for me,” I laugh, “well, until recently. Her growth spurts have made her so tired and now it’s almost impossible to get her out of bed for school.”
Y/n laughs, the sound being music to my ears. “Oh, god, I don’t blame her. I’m the same way and I’m done growing.”
Our laughter mixes together, being cut off by Sam’s sudden presence again. He plops down his plate of fruit, only having one piece of pizza beside it.
“Did I miss something?” he asks with an arched brow and a grin.
“No,” y/n shakes her head. “Just saying it’s hard to get me out of bed in the morning.”
“Oh, I have my ways,” he says suggestively.
My brows raise as I shift uncomfortably on the bench.
Y/n slaps his arm as she scowls at him. “Jesus, Sam, this is my job. There’s kids here, can you please be quiet?”
“Oh, come on, they’re all the way over there. They can’t hear me.”
“The parents can,” she continues to scold. “Please.”
“Only Joel can hear me, and I don’t think he minds,” Sam looks pointedly at me.
“Oh,” I flick my eyes between them. “No, it’s fine. I’m fine.”
“See?” he beams. “Relax, darling. This new job has you all uptight.”
Y/n crosses her arms, looking anywhere but at the man beside her. It’s honestly making me uneasy to be around them any longer, so I decide to stand, excusing myself to use the bathroom.
As the sun greets my skin, I let out a sigh of relief, a million different thoughts running through my mind right now. Almost all of them are focused on y/n, wondering if I’ll ever see her again in person after today. What possible excuse could there be for me seeing her? She’s Sarah’s teacher, and there’s no logical, normal way to see her outside of school unless I asked her out, but she’s already with somebody.
It’s hard to hide my disappointment at that fact, but truthfully I think she’s out of my league, even if she apparently is interested in older men. Sam and I are polar opposites in all the worst ways. He’s toned and ripped with colored eyes and hair, while I have the softened dad bod with shaggy hair that’s dark brown mixed with a bit of gray, and normal, non-alluring brown eyes. If there were ever a man to compete against for a woman’s affection, it isn’t him. He would win every single time.
I’ve never gone for a woman who’s more than five years younger than me, and y/n is sixteen years younger than me. I’m reminded of the story she told about her parents, and the fact that they were sixteen years apart. She spoke so fondly of them, that clearly she would never have an issue with being someone my age.
God, who am I kidding? She’s engaged and far too stunning for me. I need to quit my daydreaming now before I end up in a fictional spiral about a woman I barely know.
As I leave the humid bathroom, I see Sarah over at the playground, running around in the sand barefoot with Rachel and another girl chasing her. I make my way over, placing my hands on my hips as I watch her sprint away.
“Playing tag?” I ask, Sarah not even looking at me for a second.
“Yep!” she answers quickly. “Don’t distract me!”
Laughing, I walk away, heading towards the table that I’m dreading to sit at again. To my relief, y/n is alone, gazing down in her lap as I sit across from her again.
“Where’s Sam?” I ask her, looking around.
“Oh,” her eyes meet mine, “he’s on a call for work.”
“What does he do?”
“Physical therapy,” she shrugs. “Boring.”
I laugh. “Not nearly as boring as construction.”
“Please,” she scoffs, “I’d much rather hear your work stories than his, I’m sure. He just tells me how he gropes women all day,” y/n laughs.
“Professionally gropes,” I jokingly correct her, resulting in an effortless giggle. “At the end of the day, he comes home smelling a lot better than me, I promise you.”
She chuckles, gazing at me. “Thank you for talking to me so much, Joel. I was nervous I’d be lonely at this thing.”
“You’re very easy to talk to, y/n, you don’t have to thank me.”
There’s a moment where we sit silently, just looking at each other, and I’m wondering if she feels the same spark between us as I do.
“Okay,” Sam’s voice causes me to jump slightly, “sorry about that, I was just answering a client’s questions about what exercises they can do at home.”
I nod. “No worries. Physical therapy sounds like an interesting job,” I smile, y/n giving me a dramatic eye roll.
“Thank you!” he answers loudly, looking over to y/n. “See? I told you it’s not boring.
There’s a light thump beside me on the picnic table, seeing a sweaty, panting Sarah beside me. “Daddy, I’m tired. Can we leave?”
I chuckle, nodding. “We can leave whenever you want.”
“It’s too hot out.”
“Then we can leave.”
Sarah smiles up at me, turning to look at Sam and y/n. “Who are you?” she asks curiously.
“I’m Sam, Ms. Y/l/n’s fiancé.”
“Fiancé?” Sarah looks to me. “That’s before marriage, right?”
I laugh, nodding. “Yes.”
“Well, that’s good. She’s a very nice lady.”
Y/n laughs, shaking her head. “Thank you, Sarah.”
I stand off the bench, Sarah standing with me. “It was lovely meeting you, y/n. And Sam,” I nod.
Y/n stands, shaking my hand. “Thank you for coming, Joel, and for staying to talk for so long.”
“Of course,” I smile. “Have a good rest of your day.”
“You too.”
Sarah and I walk back to the truck, my mind reeling with everything y/n and I spoke about. I’ve decided that there’s nothing stopping me from seeing that beautiful woman again, even if I have to call off work just to stop by the school. I’ve been meaning to just to spend lunch with Sarah, anyway, and now I can see her and y/n at the same time.
I need to see her again.

Soft Part Eight of however many it takes for my coworker to Love Lucifer
Summary: You return from your trip with your boyfriends, and are greeted by Soft Luci.
Chapters: One Two Three Four Five Six Seven Nine ten
The van pulled up to the House of Lamentation. Everyone excitedly left the van, and walked into the house. They were immediately greeted by a mouthwatering scent.
"Oh my gosh, yes!" Beel took off running before you could ask any questions.
"No way! You're in for a treat, doll," Mammon said, directing you to the dining hall, causing many disapproving groans.
When you entered the dining room, Lucifer and Beel were already at their seats, the latter of which was staring impatiently at the mountains of shimmering food.
"It's just like the Celestial realm!" Asmo exclaimed happily. "Someone hold Beel so I can take a picture."
"How were you able to pull this off?" Satan pulled out your chair, and both of you took your seats.
"I got the ingredients from Simeon, but I made all of it myself. I thought it would be a nice treat after your trip," Lucifer had a soft smile on his face, happily looking at all his brothers. "Don't be shy, enjoy!"
…As much as you hated to admit it…Lucifer had just made the best damn meal you'd ever eaten…
….
Now that all the brothers were busy trying to be the best boyfriend, Soft Luci was around far more often. The meal was only the beginning.
"No no, a more subtle wrist flick," he said, bringing his arms around you, and gently moving your hand. "Like this. Give that a try now."
He'd come into your room an hour ago with a mug of hot cocoa. Mammon had been helping you work on a spell you were struggling with, but he'd fallen asleep on your bed. So you'd been alone, and frustrated, and Lucifer had offered to help.
You repeated the motion, all too aware of his body heat close behind you.
Instantly, all the papers on your desk organized themselves into a neat pile.
"I did it!" You gasped, turning to look at Lucifer, who was smiling happily.
"Yes, I'm so proud of you," he practically sang. His crimson eyes looked truly excited that you had managed to pull off the spell. The longer you looked into them, the more lost you were. Then you became all too aware of how intoxicating the colonel he was wearing was. You were getting lost. And you were  getting lost quickly.
Luckily (?) He took a step back, ending whatever spell you had cast on yourself. His smile said he knew exactly what he was doing, and normally you'd have called him out on it. But right now, you were very aware of how cold it was now that he'd taken a step back.
"That should be enough for tonight, get some rest," he said, making to leave. He paused at the door, and turned his head back. "Tomorrow, Solomon will be helping with your defense training. He is going to help teach defensive and offensive magic. You have nothing to worry about. I know you are more than capable."
And then he left. You cuddled in next to Mammon (well as much as possible, he'd taken up three quarters of the bed) and stared at the ceiling until sleep took over.
….
You overslept the next morning. When you woke up, Mammon was gone, and the three quarters of the bed he'd taken up were cold. You noticed a note on the nightstand.
You seemed quite exhausted last night, so I've called off your classes for the day. There are leftover pancakes waiting for you downstairs. If you need anything, I will be in my office all day. Do not hesitate to come to me.
Lucifer
Damn it. He was good. You smiled while reading it, like you were reading something from one of your boyfriends. But he wasn't one! You couldn't even be sure you liked him!
Although….
No, you were just hungry, and thinking about the pancakes. Once you ate, those silly thoughts would go away.
You wandered downstairs, and found the pancakes. They had a whipped cream smiley face on them. You were starting to wonder if Lucifer may have hit the Demonus early. He was always more affectionate when he…..
And then you got an idea.
A terribly, wonderful, awful idea.
You ate your pancakes, pulled out two glasses and a bottle of Demonus, and raced up to Lucifer's office.
It's not like you'd be tricking him…you were just going to offer some drinks, and find out what he was planning, and feeling, and why he was playing with your heart!
It'd be fine! And a true test of Soft Luci. If he was truly real…he'd not kill you when he sobered up after you shared in a couple glasses of Demonus.
A+ plan!

I'm alive...kinda?
So it's been a while huh? Since the end of March actually, since I last posted anything. Which sucks because it was literally right after I was super excited to do a collab with a friend, as well as my plans for getting content out! So what happened you may ask (and I'm referring to the lovely people who are in my inbox asking and being concerned, I'm so sorry for worrying ya). Well, let me tell you!
Health.
Sucks.
So here's a quick TW because I'm going to go into detail about everything that's happened since the last time I was here under the cut. This includes both issues with eating (involuntary), as well as surgical stuff. There will also be a TL;DR at the end of this post.
So as I've mentioned previously (I think) I have chronic nausea. I'm almost always feeling sick after I eat therefore I don't really...eat much. Especially not when I'm working because I can't afford to be sick and have to go home (my job requires me to be on my feet, interacting with clients all day and I woke 9-hour shifts). So because I'm unable to get enough nutrients (normally I won't even eat until I get home from work, and if I do it's protein drinks and pudding during my work day), I'm pretty...weak most of the time.
Let me tell you, eating is so important to function like a human. If you don't you are tired, your muscles hurt, and there are so many other horrible things that go into it that I won't go into detail about.
My biggest problem with not being able to eat enough is fatigue. I am always tired and in a brain fog that writing is impossible. If I can even get the energy to open up my laptop and bring it to my bed, it's typically dashed the moment I open a Word document and can barely type.
I had maybe a solid good week or two a month back right after I went on vacation to see a friend (probably because I was able to eat regularly-ish due to not having to worry about being sick at work) however, like always, it was quickly squashed with reality and I went back to brain fog central, but I feel like it was worse this time.
I only had the energy to talk with three of my closest friends, and occasionally I'd have the brain capacity and energy to play games with one of them, but that's about it. I can't tell you how many times I had to cancel my weekly call with one of my friends from being too tired or putting off playing a game with my other because I just didn't have the energy to cross my room and pick up my controller. It was bad.
Most of my days off have been in bed, sleeping, and trying to eat. So it hasn't been great.
However, two weeks ago something happened. I had stomach pain. Which granted, I have had before. Not the normal nausea but physical pain that if you pressed on my stomach it hurt. I was even walking with a limb by the end of the day. It doesn't happen often but I'm stubborn and don't like going to the hospitals so I had always chalked it up to a "self-correcting problem". For years. Whenever this happened it would go away within a few hours (nine hours max).
So when I woke up the NEXT day and it was still hurting, something was a bit wrong. I called out of work because there was no way I would've been able to stand and made a small deal with myself that if it wasn't gone by the next morning I would...go to the doctor. I know, crazy that I was gonna wait to be in pain for nearly three days but I hate hospitals and I didn't have health insurance with my new job.
Well, this wasn't good enough for my mom and she convinced me to go. The only way she did that was she seemed concerned. Now I'm dramatic. Very, very dramatic. And also a bit of a hypochondriac so I always feel like when I'm sick or in pain I'm simply being dramatic and that it's not actually serious even though my anxiety is telling me I might literally be dying (the number of times I have almost passed out by standing up and brushed it off, or laid in bed and suddenly my heart rate was going off like I sprinted a mile and decided I was probably fine is impeccable).
So I go to the emergency room and they ran some tests and what would you know! It's my appendix. And it wanted to break up with me...how admirable. And apparently, it was way worse than doctors initially thought because I happen to have an abnormally high pain tolerance so when asked on a scale of 1 - 10 what my pain was I said a 3. Apparently, with how bad off it was, I should've been at a 10+ but oh well.
The surgery that they predicted would be no longer than half an hour ended up being an entire hour, and I got four incisions when they said I'd only have three.
So I've been recovering for the past two weeks and should hopefully be back at work on Thursday. Decided to make this post because for once I've been able to eat decent meals for a few days in a row since I haven't been at work, and my brain is actually working for a while. I'm hoping maybe it'll continue so I can start writing again (Writing Twisted Wonderland content is a huge comfort of mine) but who knows.
Maybe my chronic nausea will be solved and I'll be nice and healthy and be able to eat regularly. I can dream. However since I have had a lot of people in my inbox asking me where I've been and if I'm doing already, and how I've essentially ghosted several friends in the fandom since I just don't have the energy to message many people, I figured I should give you the explanation as to what happened.
I'm going to try to get a little bit of writing done today, maybe bust out a few requests. I'm a bit stressed out since one of my good friends is currently on their way to the hospital because she's also a sick bean like me, but also I know damn well she'd enjoy seeing some Twisted Writing so imma do it.
Thank you for listening to my ramblings! I love you all!
TL;DR - I got really sick and couldn't write and then my appendix said bye.

Domestic Pomeranians, Part One?
I DO NOT OWN MHA THE ANIME OR THE MANGA. NONE OF THESE CHARACTERS ARE MINE EXCEPT FOR Y/N.
Full Title: Domestic Pomeranians, Part One?: Domestic! Katsuki Bakugo X American! Wife! Reader
Y/n: Your Name. Y/L/N: Your Last Name Y/H/C: Your Hair Color. Y/E/C: Your Eye Color. Y/S/C: Your Skin Color
Seeing as the reader shall be American in this one, Japanese will be as follows, italicized. English will be normal.
Ships in This One-Shot: Bakugo X Reader/ You, Mineta X Trash
Your Quirk: Super Speed. Think of Peter Maximoff. Yeah, that's you. The only drawback to your power? You have to stop after three hours or your muscles begin fatiguing.
We love a good Domestic! Bakugo, so this might become a series. Dunno yet.
TW: For context, there are children, so if you don't like kids, don't want them, or feel triggered by mentions of pregnancy/childbirth/death/parenting, perhaps scroll away. I've got you, boo.
Bakugo's head felt like it had exploded, turned to mush, and shoved in a food processor before being pushed back into his head. His wife wasn't much better.
"Morning," Y/n Bakugo said in English, too tired to translate into her husband's native language so early in the morning. Since both she and her husband were bilingual, it wasn't an issue.
Katsuki responded with a grunt. Y/n opened her phone to check for texts from her family who still lived in America. "Sleep well?" Katsuki asked her in English, and Y/n smiled. She loved it when he spoke English in his sleepy accent. His voice was deep, which Y/n had to admit, turned her on.
"Yeah, you?" Y/n asked as she and Katsuki both got out of bed, making their own sides and getting dressed as they talked.
Katsuki snorted. "You kidding? I'm more hungover than a bat. I can't even see straight."
"Well, if you can't even be straight, why should your eyesight be?"
Katsuki made a noise and pulled Y/n's favorite shirt of his over his head. "I've got the day off today, what about you?"
Y/n nodded, then tilted her head. "The kids are still asleep, you wan-"
As soon as the words came out of her mouth she heard "Mama!" Y/n made a very unflattering noise as she walked quickly down the hall to her twin daughter's room. Noise also started coming from her son's room.
"Hang on, Kenji!" Y/n yelled as she speed-walked into her daughters' room. The blonde twins were four years old and had begun to walk. Chaos, of course, was the only result. "No, Takara! Don't eat your sister's hair! Ahma! Calm down- no! Don't go towards the window!"
Kenji, who was nine, had come into his sister's room now. "Can I help, mama?" he asked in English, motioning to his younger sister Ahma.
"Please, Kenji. Go take Ahma downstairs, then I'll deal with Taka, okay?" Kenji nodded dutifully, taking his younger sister into his arms and marching to the stairs.
Rangling Takara was much easier with Kenji's help, so Y/n was downstairs in just a few minutes with her daughter on her hip.
All three of her children had inherited Katsuki's blonde hair, but Kenji was already a miniature - but thankfully more mild-mannered - version of his father. Complete with vermillion eyes and untamable, spiky blonde hair.
"I made breakfast," Katsuki said, patting Kenji on the head and ruffling his already messy hair. Y/n smiled at her husband.
"I'm gonna run a few errands, but I'll be back in an hour or so. Think you can hang on for that long?" Katsuki chuckled and nodded, with Y/n walking quickly to the door so she could spend as much time with her kids as possible.
When Y/n got back, Katsuki was asleep in their giant armchair, with Ahma in one arm, and Kenji holding Takara next to him in the other. Y/n grabbed her phone and took a picture, uploading it to Instagram.
'My four kids' she titled the post to her Instagram, with Heroes from America, Japan, and all her friends liking and commenting on her post quickly after.
Short-ish, but I might make this a series. Feedback?

Less Than Half Myself
The Owl House + Enneagram Willow Park as a 9w8
“Still I check my vital signs Choked up, I realize I've been less than half myself For more than half my life” — Sleeping at Last, Nine
Willow grew up a shy kid. Whenever they went out, she hid behind her dads’ legs and only looked up if she heard her name. She was soft spoken, what could she say? Even when they were friends, Amity described her as such.
The good thing was that people rarely ever wanted to hear her speak, both metaphorically and literally. Her dads always made big decisions for her, and every decision was a big one for Harvey Park.
“I’m telling you, love, Willow is big enough to choose what shoes to wear to school,” said Gilbert with a sigh.     “She’s not big enough to consider things long term!” Harvey replied, holding up two different pairs of shoes for his husband to see. “The yellow ones may attract wild animals, but the green ones don’t match her outfit! Stop laughing, Gilbert, this is serious!”
She preferred the yellow ones, but ended up going to school wearing green on her feet.
As she walked into class, she spotted Amity sitting in the front row. It had been a couple of days since their fight, but it felt like an eternity. Willow waved, and Amity looked in the opposite direction. She probably hadn’t seen her. Nevermind that her usual seat by her side was now occupied by Boscha. Nevermind that she ignored her all day and then some.
She doesn’t mean any harm, she thought to herself. We’re still friends.
Another week went by, and then another, and Amity kept ignoring her. At some point, Willow stopped waving.
Boscha didn’t grant her the same courtesy. On the contrary, she made sure to remind Willow what a half-a-witch she was. And it wasn’t just her. Amelia kept sticking gum in her hair. Cat enchanted her shoes so that she couldn’t stop walking for an entire hour. Skara fed her books to a particularly hungry locker. It hurt, but it wasn’t as bad as when Amity laughed along.
Her dads were none the wiser, of course. In fact, she hadn’t told them about their fight at all. She knew that each new day in which she didn’t get her magic was more and more stressful to them; they didn’t need any new problems thrown into the mix. It did make dinnertime conversations a lot more awkward, though.
“So, Willow! How’s Amity doing?” Asked Gilbert one night, and she shrunk into her chair. “She hasn’t stopped by in a bit. She knows she’s always welcome, right?”
Willow cleared her throat, staring down at her plate like it was the most interesting thing on the Isles. “Yeah, of course she does. She’s just been a little busy! She’s been really focused on school and, uh, I should be too!” She swallowed the rest of her food and took the plate to the sink as she spoke. “I’ll be studying upstairs!”
She’d walked three steps up the stairs when Harvey got up and touched her shoulder. She froze in her tracks.
“Hey, witchling,” he started, eyebrows furrowed in concern. “Is everything okay with Amity? I know you two are best friends, but you’ve been more quiet than usual. Are you having any trouble at school?”
“Everything is fine, dad, I’m just feeling sleepy.”
Gilbert stood up and rested his hand on his husband’s arm. “Are you sure, sweetheart? If there’s anything bothering you, we-”
“I’m sorry I’m such a half-a-witch, okay?!” Willow exclaimed to her own surprise, refusing to meet their gazes. “I wish I had my magic but I don’t and I don’t know how to fix it! I know it bothers you, and I know you wish I was more like Amity. It bothers her too, okay? She doesn’t even wanna be seen near me anymore! I hate being powerless a-and I don’t even like the green shoes!”
She finally looked up at her dads to meet the shocked expressions on their faces. She clasped a hand over her mouth.
     “I’m sorry, I- I shouldn’t have said any of that, I’m sorry-”
Harvey tried taking her hand in his, but she flinched, tears in the corners of her eyes.
“Willow, sweetie, please look at us,” Gilbert raised his hand. “Try to repeat my movements, okay?”
He raised one finger at a time while taking a deep breath, one, two, three, four, then retracted them as he let it out. Willow obeyed, focusing on her own breathing, in and out, in and out. Harvey kept his hand on her shoulder, grounding her. When she calmed down, he picked her up and carried her upstairs to tuck her in bed.
“You’re not half-a-witch, Willow,” Gilbert said, the wrinkles around his eyes becoming more prominent. “You’re not any less amazing or talented because you don’t have magic, and I’m so sorry that we made you feel that way.”
Harvey nodded. “We do worry about your future sometimes, but we know it’s gonna be the brightest one you could have, magic or not. We don’t want you to be anyone but yourself, okay?”
Willow took a deep breath, one, two, three, four, and nodded. “Okay.”
They both kissed her forehead and wished her goodnight. The following day, they let her sleep in and skip school. When she woke up, Gilbert put on her favorite cartoon on the crystal ball and almost suffocated her with a hug. Harvey made her some paincakes and even let her eat on the couch and stay up one hour after her bedtime.
When Willow went back to school, she was wearing the yellow shoes.

I found one of your letters,
One that I had never read.
It's been sitting around a while,
Just like you, inside my head.
I opened it up,
And expected the worst.
But all I got
Was a bunch of words—that made sense,
That all were true,
That made me realize,
That I still love you.
It was front and back,
With an extra page.
I couldn't believe my eyes,
As I read every word.
You were actually nice.
It seemed even caring.
It seemed you even thought about,
What it was that you were sharing.
There is one part
That really stuck to me.
It was in page two,
Then again maybe three.
Nevertheless, you asked this question,
What would I do if I had twenty-four hours to live?
Since I just found this letter,
I never had a chance to give—my response...
I'd spend one hour with my family.
I've known them all this time.
I'd spend two with my friends.
Since friends are a dozen a dime.
I'd spend three with my dog.
Because she knows all my secrets.
I'd spend four by myself,
Because, I know that I'd need it.
I'd spend five reading the Bible,
To establish a peace of mind.
I'd spend six having a big birthday party,
Just for myself this time.
I'd also spend thirty minutes writing a novel.
Because it's something I've never done.
And I'd spend one hour more with God,
Being thankful for His Son.
Let's not forget the one hour and twenty-minutes,
That I'd spend with your family.
That's all I can give.
Since you couldn't have me.
Now what about that last minute?
I'd probably give thirty seconds away,
To someone who needed life
For just another day.
I'd probably give twenty-nine seconds
To keep the bed bugs, of twenty-nine kids, away.
Or maybe keep that same twenty-nine seconds,
Just to sleep a whole night through.
I only know one thing and that's
I'd spend my last second with you.

Comic Con Eve
I used to have a blog where I talked about art stuff and life stuff. I closed it down cause no one was visiting it, but I kind of miss doing work recaps and just having a place for all my word vomit.
I'm a very angry and tired person today. I'm super warm, but my hands are like ice, yet somehow also clammy. And clammy hands drive me mental so I'm constantly washing my hands and wiping my hands (which is awesome when you're covered in cat hair). So this should go well.
Today is set-up for Comic Con, and set up days are ALWAYS a nightmare (only comparable to tear-downs). Trying to get into the building, getting everything off the truck, FINDING a cart, getting our passes (they screw this part up every year for me), finding our table (also, screwed up every year), and finally getting everything set up.
Then my friend and her dad will be staying with us for the weekend (she volunteers for me, he volunteers for the doctor who society), and I love them dearly, but you can't have any kind of schedule or plan with him around.
Then, my body decided after 2.5 hours of sleep that it was ready to get up. So I've been up since 2am. And starting at 9:45am were the phone calls. Literally between 9:45am and 2:30pm I've had NINE PHONE CALLS, and I'm waiting on MORE! I have crippling anxiety, if my phone rings when I'm not expecting it - it causes a panic attack and sometimes impromptu vomiting. Mental health issues are great.
GI flare started yesterday, plus I have a super weak cold but having the two at the same time is mildly terrifying. If I sneeze or cough at the wrong time I am ruining EVERYONE'S day. But the funny (and sad) thing about it was I've been doing SO good with my diet, I haven't had attacks in months! Then, this week between con prep, house prep, and being sick ...this dumb-ass forgot to eat ...for 5 days. I last ate Sunday ...and it's Friday afternoon and I still haven't eaten anything. I am surviving solely on Tea caffeine (I'm not a coffee drinker) and spite. So the attack was my own stupidity. Sigh. Will I get the chance to eat tonight? Who the hell knows! Yay con! (This is why vendors always look frazzled - I'm not the only one with horror stories about prep)
Comic con fuck-up aside, I got bumped up to the vendor area in the Featured Artist wall! Instead of the tiny room no one can ever find where they stuff all the artists. So I have hope this year! I also have tons of new stuff, and did a complete overhaul to my prints.
This year I will still have prints, only limited to 5 of each and once sold out they're done! But I will also have lanyards, key chains, bookmarks, stickers, cups, shirts, tank tops, and hats. I'm super excited for the lanyards and key chains since this is the first time I've ever made them!
Highlight of it all? I get to see my best friend, my nails are a bangin' shade of orange, and after con starts HUNTING SEASON! I have three of them this year! And also in 2 weeks I will see my parents cause we are taking the last two days of bird camp to hunt birds on my parents property with my dad. Always a highlight of comic con.
