How to write IB essays:
As told by my economics teacher when he was telling us how to write our IAs and told is that it would be good for any subject with essay questions.
There are three criteria to achieve:
Evaluate: Evaluations give grades 6-7, with 450 words on it
Apply: Applying knowledge gives levels 4-5, here we should give explanations and if there are any diagrams explain that as well, with 250 words on it
Knowledge: This gives grades 1-3, here we should write down definitions and background information, with a word count of 150 words.
How to write it:
Intro: State and explain the dilemma, justify its importance, and use minor citations.
Body: Here we should show off our knowledge, using definitions, diagrams with explanations of any, basically used to analyse the situation. This analysis is then used to evaluate.
Note: it is useful to underline or highlight important keywords or statements in the assignment or exam paper, it shows where all the work is done and also leaves a good impression on the examiner.

sat, dec 16 2023 ♡
yesterday was my final day of the first semester of ibdp year 1! it feels kind of crazy to think about the fact that i'm already a quarter of the way through with the diploma programme lol. I didn't have any finals, so it was a very anticlimactic last day, but I have a winter break assignment for english lang/lit, and im planning on doing some studying for psych and bio, as well as starting to write my psych ia introduction.
i got my score back for the sat today and did pretty good (1460), just not as good as I was hoping for. I definitely don't need to retake it, but sat prep is a mandatory class for my program (not the ib, something else) in my school so i will likely be taking it again in the spring anyway as a part of that. my ebrw was 790, but my math was fairly lower than I hoped it would be, so that's what i'll be focusing on bringing up over the next few months.

5 Things You Need to Know About the IB Diploma
The International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma is an alternative certification offering for high school students that encompasses a holistic approach to education. It aims to develop globally-minded and well- rounded individuals who are ready to tackle tertiary education and the workforce with equal proficiency. If you have a child who is nearing the end of their secondary education, it’s natural to feel anxiety about which path they will take after graduation. In addition to the numerous options available today, there are many more emerging in the coming years. The IB Diploma may be one of them. Read on for more details about what it is, how it differs from other programs, and why it might be a good fit for your child.
What is the International Baccalaureate (IB)?
The IB is an international non-profit organization that provides education for students aged 16 and above. Founded in 1968, it currently has more than 1,000 schools in over 160 countries. Its stated mission is to create “better-informed citizens of the world”. The organization’s four core values are “internationalism, the transformative power of education, enabling the needs of the world, and the development of the whole person”. The IB’s most well-known program is the IB Diploma. This is an academically rigorous two-year course of study that culminates in a final exam. Students who pass this exam receive the IB Diploma and are often considered more competitive by top universities.
What is the International Baccalaureate Diploma?
The International Baccalaureate Diploma is the most advanced and rigorous program offered by the IB. baccalaureate international diploma is a two-year course of study that requires significant dedication and self-discipline from students. Students who successfully complete this rigorous course of study will be awarded an IB Diploma. Additionally, many universities around the world accept the IB Diploma as a valid substitute for a high school diploma and entrance requirements. The IB Diploma is a globally recognized program that is equally respected by employers. Most of the American international school in Chennai are gives the best IB diploma for their students.
Why might your child be a good fit for the IB Diploma?
The IB provides a global and progressive education that prepares children for future endeavors in a rapidly changing world. If your child wishes to pursue a future in which they are exposed to a variety of fields and cultures, the IB Diploma may be a good fit. If they’re interested in pursuing disciplines that are heavily rooted in math and science, such as engineering and computer science, the IB Diploma may be a good fit as it has a strong STEM focus. If they aspire to attend an elite university, the IB Diploma may be a good fit given its reputation.
How does the IB Diploma differ from other programs?
The IB Diploma is different from other programs in that it’s a two-year program that culminates in a final exam. The IB Diploma is designed for students who are self-motivated and thrive in a high-pressure environment. The course of study is rigorous, and demands a significant amount of time from students. Unlike many other programs, such as Advanced Placement or Gifted and Talented courses, the IB Diploma is internationally recognized. This means that it is globally beneficial to complete the course of study, as opposed to being beneficial only at a single university.
Costs for the IB Diploma
As a two-year program, the IB Diploma is significantly more expensive than a standard high school program. In the United States, the average cost of private high school tuition is around $25,000 per year. Private IB Diploma tuition is at least $49,000 per year, as it includes the cost of the course of study and administration. Students should expect additional expenses as well, such as books, school supplies, and extracurricular activities.
Final Words
The IB Diploma is a rigorous and globally-respected program that is beneficial for a student’s future. If your child is the type who thrives in a high-pressure environment and is interested in a globally-minded and well-rounded education, the IB Diploma may be a good fit for them. The two-year program does come with a significant price tag, but it can also be beneficial for a student’s future as it opens up new and numerous opportunities.

Completely off topic for the stuff I usually post about or reblog but I just wanted to get this off my chest: IB finals schedules are such utter and complete garbage. You will not even believe. I’m out here revising three subjects at once because the Overlords have decided I’m gonna have three finals that also overlap with one another in three days. I am writing this while my laptop sits upon five books for two seperate subjects. This is the first time I’ve regained consciousness today after spending most of it completely submerged in History and I am only now realizing I had an exam that I in fact did take in the morning because it feels like it was four days ago. I don’t think I’ve replied to most of my messages in a week. While I logically know this is not the program’s fault and only a result of my own folly, thinking I could do 4 HL subjects at once, this will not stop me from whining. On the contrary, I will whine even more. Putting History and Math this close together should be illegal. It should be a warcrime. I am but a measly overdramatic tick crushed underneath the fist of my own decisions and the only thing keeping me together now is the meagre image of dark academia I have managed to maintain and my gay-ass outfits that I show up to exams in.

i did not mean to go so long without posting..... but i've been quite busy this past week finishing up a bunch of schoolwork before the semester ends. today is the last day before finals start at my school, even though most of my classes don't have a real final. in history and psych we're working on ias, and the rest of my classes had projects/papers/work sessions we did ahead of finals week. in english lang/lit we actually have a final though, and i take it tomorrow. it's essentially a writing assessment that mirrors the structure of the io.
