im gonna be honest i dont understand so many basic things that people do

ex. why put together forever etc on wedding cakes and decor and stuff, because realistically this just sets your expectations up for failure

like it would make more sense to put something generic like "omg i cant believe were getting married" or "let's try to make this last!" or even "we love each other" because even if you believe you're gonna be together, yoj HAVE to know that divorce is something that can happen, and youre just lying right ???

My grandfather!! Courtney was his middle name. (That spelling was originally the masculine form of the name, though it's pretty rare to see it used as such these days.) My middle name is also a family name :)

2. When was the last time you cried?

Uhh... oh it was a couple nights ago, when talking with my parents about my Nana. I still miss her a lot

3. Do you have kids?

Nope. At this stage of my life I can't say it feels super likely ever to happen, though I'd be lying if I said I don't feel a twinge of Something when I meet babies at work lol.

4. What sports do you play/have you played?

lmao I have never played any. I am extremely unathletic by nature, and also always struggled to get my brain around the rules of pretty much any of them when I was like, a kid in gym class

5. Do you use sarcasm?

Sure, but not a lot? Probably an average amount I figure

6. What is the first thing you notice about people?

Man, I dunno - probably their faces or their clothes, depending on context?

7. What's your eye color?

Brown!

8. Scary movies or happy endings?

Big big fan of both! I'm not a big sad endings guy, though. Even when it feels right for the story, it's usually not my jam. (I guess sometimes sad endings can be good for scary movies, but that's like... sort of its own thing? because it's about The Horror.)

9. Any talents?

This is always a hard question for me to answer, bc I feel like most of the things I'm good at are more skills than talents - they're things I've practiced and developed over time, like with my writing and art. Although I guess it'd be fair, if unusual maybe, to say I've got a couple naturally strong interpersonal skills. I'm very good at communication, including figuring out what other people are trying to say, and I'm also pretty good at making people feel comfortable and understood.

10. Where were you born?

In southern Ontario, in the city where both of my parents did most of their growing up :)

11. What are your hobbies?

Writing (fiction prose, mostly) and the many kinds of thinking that go with it (worldbuilding, character development, etc). Arts and crafts (of many kinds; I'm often bouncing from one thing to another. Currently I'm having lots of fun learning to crochet). Taking in stories (reading books and comics, watching movies and TV, playing games, listening to podcasts - I love stories in all their forms). Goofing off with my family, especially my younger siblings.

12. Do you have any pets?

We have three cats - Neverland, Louie, and Smudge :)

13. How tall are you?

Uhh my ID says 165 cm, so that's... 5'5"-ish? I'm genuinely so incapable of remembering that on my own, for some reason.

14. Favorite subject in school?

It was usually English and art, growing up. In university it was always my courses that delved into genre fiction - science fiction, children's lit, the fairy tale... also that graphic novel seminar I took

15. Dream job?

Iiii. [sweats] I wanna be a novelist, but also, that's hard in its own way, and I think it's gonna take me a while yet to really Get There in terms of my own skills, disregarding the challenges of publishing. Beyond that... is something I've been struggling a lot with lately, because it's hard for me to imagine myself in a job where I'm both content and competent, let alone able to support myself. I've been wondering a lot again about library sciences, lately, but I just don't know. It's tough out here!

11] give a general summary of the plot/world/characters.

OK SO I HAVE. A HANDFUL OF STORIEZ that i havent commented on publicly yet so im choosing my umm actual original story. instead of my like roblox ocz. ok ? ok.

so uhh the story is [dropping the z's] unnamed. as of rn. bcos i cant be assed. BUT! its a very modern fantasy esque kinda thing but like Real casual about it. humans and vampires and werewolves and robots and androids and all sorts of things you can think of, theyre probably there.

while its relatively close to our world [save for The Everything] theres also things like magic, ghosts, etc. one of these things is these little void. emotion eater things. theyre created by a strong collection of negative emotions in one area, and they eat em! usually this results in temporary relief for any individual people they eat from, so theyre not really a Bad thing, but a lot of them around an area or one following someone is Usually not a good sign. sometimes theyre also created by people with unfinished business dying, but being unable to finish that business is what seperates them from ghosts.

the plot of the story follows acheron, a moth boy going to college for psychology and stuff, and who deals with a HELL of a lot of depression. he had lost his best friend recently, and ontop of childhood trauma, is just straight up Not Having A Good Time. despite doing good in school and having friends he loves and who loves him, he cant seem to get any better - until one day, a void creature named snapdragon starts following him around, trying to convince him to be its full time food source.

he rejects its offer, because if he wants to get better, he wants to work through his issues on his own terms at a natural pace. instead though, he soon learns that snapdragon has its own issues - namely, being it wasnt born like this, and was instead murdered as a once living person. so, it bargains with acheron, and convinces him to let it stay so that he can help it find out who killed it, bring them to justice, and let it finally move on. obviously, things dont go as planned, and a bunch of stuff happens :3

13] how long have you been working on this project? what has changed from the outset?

oh a few years now, if i had to say! the idea came to me innn 2020 i wanna say? and i only started working on it 2021/2022. pretty new but its been through a bunch of reworking and stuff.

most of whats changed as been character designs! the story has stayed relatively the same, but designs themselves have been tweaked a few times. ive been considering redesigning acheron and finally getting around to designing his friends [other than his One[1] friend w a design rn] but ahhh im lazy <3

other than that uhh. god probably how i characterize snapdragon has changed the most. its still a very classic flirty kinda-mischievious guy, but its general personality has Def been reworked from its original. :3

MORMOR (SHERLOCK) STUFF

IIII did a thing and I wrote a fanfic for a fandom that's very small and Probably nearly dead but have it anyway I guess?

Anyway uh some general info:

Contains: Beginning of mormor, bribing/blackmail (a teeny bit), suggested death, uhh mentions of wounds (surface level) and beatings.

Word count: 1140

Prompt/idea: our beloved Sebastian got into trouble after his dishonourable discharge and someone appears to offer him a deal :D

Pairing: Mormor (but not explicit yet whoops-)

"Come on, Moran," the eerie voice sounded through the hollow room. "On a scale from 1 to 10, how would you rate your pain?"

The source of the voice towered over the figure that was laying on the floor, covered in cuts and bruises. When no reply came from Sebastian, the person decided to apply some force, kicking Sebastian in his back.

To their great displeasure, this elicited little more than a groan from Sebastian. Truth to be told, Sebastian really just didn't know what to answer. Sure, some of his bones were probably broken, he was covered in bruises and he had cuts all over himself, but things had been so much worse when… Well, back then. Sure, the physical ache was the worst he'd ever experienced, but it in no way compared to the trauma.

"7," he eventually spat back through gritted teeth. He would comply only if that would mean the pain would fucking stop.

"Shame. Let's see if we can push that to a 10, no? I want to hear you scream and beg."

Sebastian groaned and dragged himself off the floor as the sound of footsteps spread through the hallway. They were different, though. Lighter. As if they carried a prestigious status with them.

Dangerously curiously he approached the bars that kept him in this prison, hanging against them with his lower. Might even get a cigarette out of that chap. God how he was craving for one after all these weeks.

"Hey you there," he called out to the figure, his voice harsh from the recent beatings. "Don't got a cig for a poor inmate, do ya?"

To his great delight the figure actually stopped walking, daring even to step closer to the bars. Sebastian grinned at the man, who was dressed in a blood red suit. There was no denying it, this was a fine male specimen. Might even be convinced to visit Sebastian and join him for a wonderful night.

"A poor inmate, huh?", the voice spoke, so soft and yet so threatening. "Surely they put you here for good reason. By the looks of you, they even think locking you up isn't enough~"

"Nah, I get off on that, Shorty," Sebastian joked, winking at the guy. Hey, you miss all the shots you don't shoot, right? "So how about that cig?"

The man in front of him seemed unfazed and cold to his flirting, which admittedly was largely disappointing. Luckily he did pull out a cigarette from his sleeve, sticking it through the bars that separated them. He was careful, keeping his fingers away, as if Sebastian would bite them off. Who knew, maybe Sebastian might even.

Instead, Sebastian leaned down gently taking the cigarette between his lips and looking the man in front of him sensually into the cold, dead eyes staring back at him.

"Don't suppose you have a light, too?"

As the man lit the cigarette that Sebastian refused to take out of his mouth, Sebastian eyed the man. Definitely not from around here.

"You're not from here, Shorty, are you?" He asked, inhaling the smoke and enjoying every second of the familiar feeling, before leaning back against the wall, taking the cigarette between his fingers and slowly blowing the smoke away from him.

When it remained silent, Sebastian opened his mouth to continue taking. It was not necessary, however, as the man spoke up.

"Call me short one more time, and I'll show you what it's like to be short," he hissed. "I'm not from around here, no. Just visiting."

"Visiting who?", Sebastian couldn't help but ask. Curiosity killed the cat, right? That was definitely gonna be the end of him someday.

"You. Colonel Sebastian Moran. Open the door, boys~"

Before Sebastian could really even react two guys stepped forward and opened the door to his cell. Within a few seconds he was then pinned against the wall. In a reflex he flipped the script, pinning the small man against the wall instead, his bottom arm pressing down on his throat.

Sebastian was forced to let go, however, when he felt the familiar sensation of the tip of a knife against one of the open cuts, a real threat that his life could be ended right there. He stepped back and brought up his guard, ready to defend himself if needed.

"How'd you get that in?", he asked, having too much adrenaline to even realise this stranger had known his name just like that. It's not like the papers had reported on his mishap.

The man in front of him grinned dangerously, stepping more into the flickering light of his cell. It was this moment that Sebastian saw, and realised that he was not dealing with an ordinary man, but with someone who was batshit crazy.

"I think you have misunderstood the power Dynamic here, big boy~. You're gonna have to listen what I'm saying, and listen closely, for I am the only one who can save your pathetic life. You know you're on death row, no~?"

Sebastian nodded. Of course he knew his own verdict. Not like it bothered him, though. He knew how these things went and he'd have years left to escape from this prison.

"Good, good~ I've been so free to save you some suffering. You're due tomorrow. You best start thinking about your last words~. Unless…"

Sebastian felt his heart sink into his stomach. He knew he wasn't exactly happy, but he definitely wasn't ready to end things yet. Fuck. More than anything, things felt very real now.

"Unless," the man repeated, "You take my job offer."

Sebastian scoffed and rolled his eyes, which proved to be a terrible choice. Once again he was slammed into the wall by the shorter figure. This time, however, the knife landed on his throat and Sebastian could tell from the pressure that the guy was serious.

"I don't need no 'redeeming work'. Fuck, I'd rather die."

The figure laughed a sinister laugh. "Redeeming work? Who do I look like? The pope? I'm so flattered~"

The figure pressed him a little harder against the wall and lifted his chin with the flat of the knife. "I do the devil's job."

Sebastian felt his blood rushing and internally cursed himself for reacting the way he did, carefully eyeing the knife. "Do elaborate."

"My name is Jim Moriarty. And I am the world's first and only Consulting Criminal. People tell me what they want, their deepest desire… And I see it fulfilled with a little flair. For a payment, naturally."

Sebastian eyed the figure up and down. The man seemed delusional. But, he was holding a knife to his throat, so Sebastian had to play along.

"How do you even want me to help with that?"

"I heard you're an excellent shot. And I'm in need of one."

iiii finally watched the hopkins hannibal trilogy and i think hopkins plays a very excellent hannibal who has both a charismatic and creepy side to him which makes him funny as fuck to watch in action but uhh that aside Red Dragon is very good the dynamic between Norton's Graham and Hopkins' Hannibal was SOTL is also very good it was fun to see jodie's clarice and hannibal go back and forth with each other with the former getting more and more. vulnerable. to the latter's manipulation and mind games in contrast to graham and hannibal where graham was more "i fucking hate you give me answers" and hannibal was like "oughh im a little babey boy my name is anthony hopkins arent we friends edward norton" and graham almost vomits out of sheer repulsion but then there's Hannibal (the movie) and like. i just finished it and i think it's fine but it's not outstanding or anything which in turn makes it a bit boring compared to the rest of the trilogy (hopkins is a treat to watch and so is oldman's mason verger but they can't save how,,, anti-climactic the movie can feel in a lot of areas) though i will say whoever plays Pazzi is very handsome and i more or less kept watching for him

The flow of the story itself always feels so ah, 'tight', I love the sequence of which information is dropped. It kind of makes me marvel at Iro-sensei's writing skills... It feels like everything that happens, gives us plenty to circle back and reflect on, which transforms the story all over again. Up until the moment in Clock Keepers where we find out about Nene's lifespan, we're presuming their meeting and interest in one another is serendipitous for the both of them.

But... man... it sure does change a lot, when you realize that the nature of the ability to interact with Nene, means that Hanako instantly knew this was a 'doomed' girl, with no future. Such little time left. This puts them in a skewed position... Hanako immediately able to pity her and also feel as though he can offer her something no one else can, in this limited period of time. (By knowing her life is limited, he can focus on enriching it.)

This of course makes you reflect on the authenticity of everything predating it... It's not that those moments were insincere, but that you have to tell yourself that this entire time, Hanako is acting with this information on his mind. As a result, I uncontrollably think of the whole incident with the mermaid's scale as intentional — as much as Akane was baited by the Clock Keepers. I don't think of this as a red herring lol...

For what it's worth, Akane isn't wholly wrong about his other assessments... Mhhh Hanako more or less proves him right about how selfish he is capable of being & how much he doesn't value life, later in the Severance arc. His willful withholding of information to sacrifice Aoi — and, well, prior to that, I think dropping a chandelier on her to prove a point was also pretty shitty. :X So, I often question the fated moment with the mermaid's scale... it's hakujoudai moving with it that brings it into Nene's view, even.

DID he...? Of all the things to just drop out of your pocket...

I dunno... just makes you wonder, at least. iiii for one think it would be interesting, if after spending a day with this hapless girl, Hanako was devising something in the back of his mind... It's Hanako who says that being cursed is like being in a relationship, fwaha. That's an interesting way to think about giving a girl what she so badly desires — because "anyone would do"... And also the ah, nature of it would be that this relationship would be ephemeral and terminate once she passes. Just like that. It's almost uhh, grossly easy to envision Hanako being able to wash his hands of the affair neatly, at the end of this all. What's 1 measly year, to a long-lived ghost?

Also, if the scales were a set up...

... it'd make this moment distinctly ironic, on Hanako's end. Though no matter what, I think this comment does cut through Hanako more than he expects, and he's left genuinely surprised by how it made him feel. An unusual sense of responsibility and culpability, I'm sure...

Just rambling here, but I also like to think that Hanako having Nene shackled to toilet cleaning duty after school is him keeping her 'on track' with his plans to enrich her life. Functionally, this after school activity keeps her from being able to focus on new relationships and funnel into other activities...

I think, to Hanako, it would be sad if a girl spent her last year of life doing favors for guys she has a crush on, that are ultimately not going to "go anywhere" for her. Even if she could forge a new relationship, that would just end in tragedy for the both of them anyways, because she would simply be dead soon enough. It almost feels logical for that time to instead be spent on a ghost, someone without a future. Someone who "isn't going to miss her" when she is gone, because they "don't value life"... I can see how this was Hanako's plan. And, how he felt like the only one suited for the job.

... it's ah, a self-aggrandizing view, it's one that puts him in a very 'noble' position... even though functionally, he is isolating a girl, and then getting jealous and petty when she wants to do anything outside of him... and sexually harassing her selfishly... and then, he goes and develops feelings for her anyways, completely crushing all this logic in on itself. Lol! Life comes at you fast, I suppose...

Though in my wildest dreams, Hanako's meeting with Nene was set up by Tsukasa (being the rumor spreader...) and it's a twist on a TWIST! Hanako was never going to walk out of this without being broken by his own desires, because that is what his twin wanted for him. Snaking on the snake... i want it so bad :'I
