#I’m reading volumes 14-16 of the ouran manga OOUGHHH MY HEART #I love this weird little friend group so much its unreal #like u have this charming sweeps you off your feet prince but he’s actually a huge lovable idiot with a kind heart and his friends #who are all misfits that he reached out to and drew in because of his kindness and own weirdness like that shits TIGHT BRO #and the trauma part where he has some deep seated issues with love bc he thinks that itll break a family apart like with his mom #how his family isnt allowed to be together because his mom and dad fell in love and how he says he wants to build a big house #so that way one day everyone will get along as a family like. all he wants is not to lose everyone and the only way to do that is #by maintaining a certain order.. he both wants a complete family so bad and doesnt want anything to sour between anyone #so he assigns each of his friends a family role based on how he sees them and YEAH its mostly played for giggles and tamakis #already weird so its his way of showing theyre close to him but. god damn this boy has LAYERS #it also feels kinda meta towards how found family tends to get thrown around to assign characters as 'siblings' or family roles instead of #using it to describe characters who are close enough to be each others family. cuz tamakis doing that EXACT THING in a way tht #ties in with his character and i have to say its fascinating using that within the story itself and its completely plausible #theres a lot of things i can say about ouran that are good bad and questionable but. god i love it when characters are niceys to each other #i remember i really liked the kyoya episode bc him and haruhi got to spend time together and their relationship isnt very close #but it was really nice to see their personalities bounce off each other. i think i also wouldve liked to see haruhi alone with kaoru #i also firmly believe all of the hosts are at least a little in love with haruhi and this can be anything like endearing romantic cuz like #who DOESNT love haruhi. kyoya i think would want to study her under a microscope like his fascination with her draws him in #but im fucking obsessed with whatever haruhi and tamaki have going on because YES hes obsessed with her YES he jumps at the chance to #put her in a cute costume but haruhi? she just fucking goes with it because she knows hes fun to be around even if hes a little wacky abt i #theyre all so. i got so angry about the AB remaster i drew this

hey i. i could be wrong but doesnt this mean he is one of Three people who can canonically see her face in Days

im brand new to the fandom so idk if this has already been discussed at length but like. i talked to everyone in the organization every single day and to my knowledge he is the only person besides axel and roxas that has mentioned being able to see her face. im losing my mind about this. btw. its fine

edit: this comes quite a bit before the scene where he sees her face as ventus's face--that doesn't happen until towards the very end of the game, and at that point axel also sees her face as someone else's. so I'm fairly certain he doesn't see her as ventus at this point

Ok time to scream frantically and post very blurry pictures

Luz & Camila immediately hug and Luz nuzzles into her arms

Edit: Vee wrote a note that says how happy she is Luz is home, which is so dang sweet. Sisters

When she hugs Luz again before bed, she says "I'm so glad you're home" and Luz awkwardly replies "Yeah, home..."

Luz comes out and officially explains Amity is her gf, Camila immediately embraces them both, Gus being the ultimate hypeman fills the room with rainbows & bi flags

Bonus Luz didn't look nervous at all coming out

Camila is wearing a rainbow flag heart in every scene after the coming out

Flapjack hates the old house where the portal was & the other palisman watch him confused why he's frantically pecking

Ghost is a very good cat that chases a opossum with the thrill of the hunt in their eyes

Gus, Willow, and Amity draw pics of their families (Gus is a very good artist too) and Hunter looks on sadly (rip getting a Dadrius moment) while Luz is focused on the portal plans

However Luz is later seen drawing Eda, King, Lilith, and Hooty, and her art has improved as has been a constant throughout the show

The kids go to a thrift store, Gus goes for style, Willow chooses a full blown roller derby outfit, Amity goes gothy witch aesthetic (it reminds me a lot of Vivian from PM:TTYD and if you know who I'm talking about I adore you), and Hunter finds a fucking cardinal onesie

Vee debuts her original look and Camila IMMEDIATELY rushes over to hug her

Question to a fanfic writer: do you think that, in Marcille’s research ways *And* her love for romance novels… would result in her writing some in-universe fanfics of her own? Like, maybe she hypes herself up on something and get disappointed, or maybe she finds some character decision isn’t as ideal as she thinks it could be? Or it’s as simple as she wants to play around with the characters and see what happens?

I can’t help but imagine a scenario where she’s struggling with some romantic trouble irl and she’s struggling with deciding on what to do, but then the answer slaps itself upside her head when she rediscovers her fanfics and how she LITERALLY made a character or two do the exact romantic decision she needs to do? It would so silly but yet I can’t help but find it so charming. Hell, just the imagery of her writing romance fanfics of her own At All is just… delightful to me hehehe.

you know I've been rotating this in my head since I saw it this morning and. I went through a wild journey of opinions before I realized... Marcille wouldn't think about fanfiction like we think about it. In the modern age, yeah, she'd be a complete tumblrina -- but we're talking about a 17th century-ish fantasy setting.

Writing before the digital age was a physical commitment to investing ink and paper into your thoughts -- and this is even before mass production can make pens and notebooks kind of whatever to buy and use on a regular basis. I'm sure the situation wasn't dire, but I really can't see Marcille, perfect honor student, using her allotted supply of stationery at the academy on super frivolous things.

Fanfiction has been normalized incredibly fast in the past few decades. Think about now normal and popular D&D is nowadays compared to how much people looked down on it 20-30 years ago. Fanfiction was a freakass nerd thing to do until relatively recent history, something that was even considered offensive to the original creators.

Remember, we've already seen Marcille react to adaptations with disgust. She's kind of a hater and an elitist fan. She also considers herself a Reputable Academic. In a setting where a digitized culture hasn't reframed fanfiction as an act of appreciation and creativity, she would absoluuuuuuuutely think that fanfiction was complete loser shit.

If she did write anything about her favourite books... She'd. She'd be one of those assholes who writes huge scathing reviews of Dal Clan translations into Common. She'd be the fantasy equivalent of those Weebs/Japanese elitists on twitter tearing through every single localization choice in anime and JRPGs and being so so annoying about it.

If we're being charitable, we could say she'd be able to appreciate non-faithful translation choices that still do a good job of carrying over the original spirit of what was said. But I think we also have to acknowledge the possibility that, at her worst, she'd really really be like those guys who were malding about the Unicorn Overlord localizations so hard the (correction: Final Fantasy Tactics Creator, not the Unicorn Overlord devs) had to step forward and ratio them. (The silver lining is that she'd never get published in the arts review newspapers/journals that she submits her essays to. those poor editors just have to deal with her being persistent.)
