"Hey babe! We gotta go!"
Standing shakily from your seat, you called back out towards your husband, "I'm coming!"
As you waddled down the hallway, Mason ran past you, his hockey bag in tow, as he headed towards his father, who was waiting patiently at the door. You watched your lanky nine-year-old, who was almost past your shoulder in height, quickly slip into his sneakers before he was out the door.
It was Mason's last hockey game of the year, and luckily, it fell on a night that Morgan and the Leafs just happened to have off. Considering Morgan very rarely got to see Mason play, the two boys were very much excited for the game tonight.
Morgan, who still stood waiting for you, held your coat in his hands, and immediately smiled once he noticed you.
"How are my girls doing?" He asked, as he placed his free hand onto your bulging tummy and placed a quick kiss onto your cheek.
"Lots of movement today, I think she can feel everyone's excitement," you explained, as you instinctually placed your hands down and rubbed your stomach. Morgan grinned with a nod, as your daughter suddenly kicked Morgan's hand, confirming your words.
You were nearly eight months along. Being halfway through April, the doctors had estimated your little girl was to born near the end of May, and you only hoped that either Morgan would be on an off night, or that hockey would be over period. It wasn't that you wanted the Leafs to get knocked out of the playoffs, you just wanted to make sure Morgan was going to be around this time. He was adamant on being with you for the birth, as he hadn't even been aware of Mason's arrival nearly a decade ago.
He made you promise that as soon as you went into labour, you'd tell him, regardless of whether he was in town or not. Hell, he'd even made you swear you'd tell the Leafs trainers to get him even if he was in the middle of a game. You had argued that his team needed him, but he only shook his head, and claimed that you needed him more. He was bound and determined to witness his little girl enter the world, hockey or not. You just hoped it wouldn't come to that.
Once you got to the arena, you weren't even able to say goodbye to Mason before he scampered out the vehicle and ran into the building. Morgan chuckled at him, but you pouted.
"Don't worry, we'll see him," Morgan suddenly said, knowing exactly how you were feeling. You sighed, but nodded as Morgan pulled the car away and went to park.
"He growing up too fast," you muttered, thinking of how different Mason had become over the past couple years. Sure, he was still your little boy, but he wasn't as sweet and cuddly like he used to be.
"He still loves you Y/N, he loves you more than anything," Morgan sighed, as he placed a hand onto your thigh in comfort.
"I know," you mumbled, "I just can't believe he's going to be ten this year,"
"Just think, we'll have a newborn and a ten-year-old, what could go wrong with that?" Morgan joked, trying to lighten the mood.
"Mason's excited, I know he is. He's always asking me questions about her," you explained, as you stepped out of the vehicle once Morgan had parked near the entrance of the arena.
"He's told me," Morgan then admitted, "he can't wait Y/N, he can't wait to be a big brother,"
You smiled at that, and took Morgan's outstretched hand as you made your way into the building.
Familiar faces of other parents filtered into and out of the lobby, and a few of the mothers you had gotten to know all sent you smiles or small waves in greeting. It was nice that they acknowledged when Morgan was around, and allowed you and your husband to watch Mason play in peace.
"Are you warm enough?" Morgan suddenly asked you once you entered the cold ice rink.
You nodded and sent him a reassuring smile while gripping his hand tighter. He smiled back before turning his attention onto the game happening on the ice surface.
While you waited for the game to finish, you saw Mason, along with a few of his teammates exit their dressing room. As they walked past to head towards their bench, you called out towards him.
"Mace! Let me take some photos!" You requested, as your now fully dressed son walked by you.
Looking over, Mason sighed, "Mom," he whined out, before rolling his eyes and jogging away from his friends and towards you and Morgan.
"I just want a few!" You exclaimed, as you pulled your phone out of your pocket and got Mason to stand next to Morgan. As you motioned for them to get closer, Morgan wrapped his arm around Mason and both of your blonde boys smiled towards you. After taking a few photos and you smiled happily and walked back towards them.
"Remember, rather than just repeatedly shooting the puck off the boards, try to-,"
"Look at the weak side, yeah yeah Dad, I know," Mason smiled, while Morgan just sighed but patted him on the shoulder.
"You'll do great bud, just go have some fun," Morgan then spoke, before pulling Mason in for a quick side hug.
Before Mason ran off again, he turned his attention towards you and enveloped you in a large hug. "I love you Mom,"
"I love you too Mason," you said, squeezing him back as best as you could despite your large stomach.
"And you behave, I don't want Mom to have to leave again," Mason then whispered towards his soon to be baby sister, as he poked your stomach twice, causing you to chuckle slightly. You'd left his last game early due to feeling sick, and had felt horrible. Mason had understood though, but he obviously didn't want that to have to happen again.
"Rielly! To the bench please!"
Looking over, Mason nodded towards his coach before he made his way off towards his other teammates, the large number four on his jersey staring back.
"Let's go get a spot," Morgan then spoke, catching your attention, as he led you down the hall and up onto the bleachers.
The first period went by quite fast, with both teams being evenly matched and both goalies standing on their heads. Mason had found himself on the top line and on both the power play and penalty kill, much to Morgan's joy.
You smiled as you watched Morgan cheer his son on. Your husband would get right into the game, and mutter his complaints and celebrate when things went well for Mason. Even though he never said anything, you knew it prided him over the fact that his son had decided to play defence, just like he had, and chose to wear his jr. number.
When you weren't at the Leafs games in person Mason would constantly stay up late to watch Morgan play, often staying up past midnight when the Leafs were on the road. He observed everything Morgan did and wanted to be exactly like him. It made your heart warm at just the thought.
Watching the Zamboni clean the ice, as the vehicle went around and around, you listened to Morgan brainstorm aloud.
"How about Mary?"
"Really?" You questioned, quirking an eyebrow towards Morgan. You had suddenly found yourself immersed in a game of baby names.
He sighed, "I don't know,"
"You really want her name to start with an 'M' huh?" You asked and Morgan flushed, "I just thought it would go,"
You smiled, "I'm just teasing you Morgan," you said as you leaned into his side and he wrapped an arm around you. "So, we have her middle name sorted, but no first name?" He chuckled, as he shook his head.
"That's usually how it goes," you hummed, as you snuggled up closer to your husband. You'd decided Amber would be your baby's middle name, due to you both having an Aunt with that same name.
"Mackenzie?"
You teetered your head back and forth as you thought, "that's a bit better,"
"Madison?"
"No, not that I don't like it, but she'll have three other girls in her classes growing up with the same name," you explained and Morgan nodded, "never thought of that, I just like the nickname Maddie, like Maddie Rielly,"
"That has a ring to it," you nodded. You didn't mind it at all actually.
"Madelyn?" You then questioned, and Morgan suddenly whipped his head towards you.
"Madelyn Rielly," he then spoke, as he continued to mouth the name silently. "I really like that," he then affirmed with a grin.
"Madelyn Amber Rielly," you proclaimed, smiling down towards your enlarged tummy and placing your hands on top of it.
"Madelyn Amber Rielly," Morgan then repeated, as he placed his right hand over yours and pressed his lips against your cheek. Turning your head, you connected your lips to Morgan's and kissed him softly.
"If I had wanted to watch you two make out, I would've stayed back at home with these two,"
You flushed from Auston's voice and pulled away quickly, causing Morgan to send his younger teammate a look.
"Well maybe if you moved out you wouldn't have to watch," Mitch then bit back, as he crossed his arms.
"Well maybe if you both were on time for once we wouldn't be having this conversation," Morgan finally spoke, raising his eyebrows in challenge. He clearly wasn't impressed that they had been late for Mason's last game.
Steph then sighed, before she moved past the taller boys and took a seat next to you. Giving you a quick hug, Steph then patted your stomach lightly, "so, how's my baby?"
"Your baby?" Mitch then questioned his girlfriend, as he turned to stare at the two of you.
"She's doing good so far," you replied, as you both ignored Mitch, "she hasn't moved too much since we got here,"
Steph then sighed, rolling her shoulders back, "I can't wait for my turn,"
You sent her a sympathetic smile, while Mitch's eyes looked like they were about to fall out of his head. Auston chuckled and took a seat on Morgan's right, while the lanky brunette still stood staring at the two of you.
"You're giving her way too many idea's Y/N. Marriage, babies, what's next?" Mitch complained, causing Steph to roll her eyes and cross her arms, "she's not doing anything Mitchell, it's not uncommon to be thinking of this type of stuff, especially considering how long we've been together,"
You pursed your lips as you could sense another lover's quarrel approaching. This hadn't been anything new between Steph and Mitch. She wanted to grow up, whereas Mitch was quite happy in his little bubble.
Auston then coughed and spoke under his breath, "pussy,"
Mitch's eyes shifted towards his taller teammate and he sent him a glare. "Wanna say that again Matts?" Mitch then challenged, "because I dare you," he glowered.
"Okay," Morgan then said, raising his hands up to cool his top forwards. "Enough, let's just watch Mason,"
Looking back towards the ice, both teams had returned to the rink and were setting up for the second period to commence. Mitch reluctantly took a seat next to Steph, who turned her body to her right and angled towards you, showing her distaste towards her boyfriend.
"Babe," Mitch spoke, placing his hand onto her shoulder, but she shrugged him off, "Your boy's out there," she replied coolly, her eyes never leaving the ice.
Feeling your discomfort, Morgan reached around your waist and tugged you into his side. You smiled thankfully up towards him and he sent you a quick nod.
Auston and Morgan fell into a quiet conversation while they watched your son skate around the ice. Auston and Mitch had also attended many of Mason's games and had always been quick to support him. While Auston and Morgan cheered for Mason whenever he made a quick play or when his team scored, the couple on your left were dead silent.
Before you knew it, the second period horn had sounded at the forty-minute mark, signalling for the second intermission. The game was currently tied three-three, with Mason having two assists.
"Is he sad that it's his last game?" Steph asked you when the ice was cleared and you shrugged, "I'm sure he's a little disappointed but he hasn't said anything, he's more excited about these guys," you explained, referring to the trio of Leafs sat around you.
"Game one versus Tampa is tomorrow," Auston spoke, as he joined the conversation. The first round of the playoffs was on everyone's mind.
"We'll beat 'em," Morgan affirmed, his voice full of confidence.
"You're not travelling to the away games right Y/N?" Steph then asked and you shook your head, "Morgan and I agreed that I should just stay here, it'll put less stress on me and the baby," you explained.
"Honestly, at this point I'm just afraid that if she does too much the baby might come early," Morgan chimed in, "and I don't want Y/N or the baby to be put into danger over her flying out for one game,"
Steph nodded in understanding and sent Morgan a sweet smile, "it's cute that you're so protective Morgan,"
"Can you blame me?" he questioned, a hint of humour in his tone, "I love them both too much to let anything happen,"
"Aww," Steph mewed out while you blushed. Morgan's hand gripped yours tightly and you squeezed back twice.
"But could you imagine if Y/N had the baby on the plane or something? What if the baby is born while we're on the road?" Mitch questioned, obviously trying to get in on the conversation.
"That's what they're trying to avoid Mitch," Steph bit out, "and we're hoping that we'll be around here when the baby is born," Morgan added.
"Let me just say, you guys are about to have the most spoiled little princess in the world," Auston then said, causing you to smile. Your baby was going to be one of the few female Leaf children, as most of the couples had only had boys. She was definitely going to be spoiled, as she'd have several uncles fawning over her twenty-four seven.
"How much of the spoiling will you be doing yourself though, Uncle Auston?" you then questioned, causing the man in question to blush.
"Oh look, they're coming back out!"
Along with many of the other parents around, you clapped and cheered for Mason and his team once they stepped back onto the ice. As time ticked off the clock, you watched intently as the game carried on. There were many times where either team had the opportunity to take the lead, but no one could put the puck past the opposite team’s goalie.
When the buzzer went off, you groaned and shook your head, knowing Mason was heading into sudden death overtime. As Mason skated past your group, you sent your son a smile, which he returned with a wave. Mitch stood and jogged down towards the glass. You couldn't hear what the forward was telling your son, but he was using his hands in an animated type way, causing Mason to chuckle at his Uncle Mitchy.
"Got it?" Mitch finally asked, and Mason nodded and sent him a thumbs up before he skated back to his spot on the right side of the blue line for the puck drop.
"What did you just tell my son?" Morgan questioned, once Mitch made his way back towards us.
"To fire his clapper as soon as he gets the puck," Mitch replied, "I blocked one last week and damn it hurt,"
You chuckled slightly, and Steph seemed to perk up a bit, as she rolled her eyes at her boyfriend and gave him a playful shove.
"C'mon Mace," you heard Morgan mutter as he sat on the edge of his seat, watching the game commence.
The puck was drawn back from the centreman and Mason swiftly glided up to meet it, before he skated over the red line and shot the puck into the offensive end. As he teammates went to go retrieve the puck, Mason and his defense partner skated into position along the offensive blue line, with Mason slipping down into the high slot.
Looking up, Mason's centreman quickly passed your son the puck, and before any of the opposing players could come to challenge him, Mason heeded Mitch's words and took a slap shot, sending the puck towards the net. The goalie made the initial save but Mason's bench jumped up in celebration when his right winger banged in the rebound.
You took a massive sigh of relief, knowing you wouldn't be dealing with an unhappy Mason, while Morgan, Mitch, and Auston cheered for your son. You were happy Mason's season had ended on a happy note, now you only hoped Morgan's would too.
Five weeks later, you sat in your condo with a concerned Morgan pacing back and forth, while Mason, and Steph, along with Morgan's parents and your Mother watched the scene unfolding in front of you. Your Mom had come two weeks ago, to help you out with the baby, where as the Rielly's had come for both Morgan's game and to meet their new granddaughter, but the latter was still pending.
"Y/N I don't think it's good idea," Morgan spoke once more, causing you to sigh, "But Morgan,"
"It's not that I don't want you to come babe, but you're due to go into labour at any second now. The last thing I want is for something to happen," he explained, and you nodded, understanding where he was coming from.
Your due date had come and gone over a week ago, along with Mason's tenth birthday, and your enlarged stomach was only getting bigger as each day went on. Doctors had told you that this could be perfectly normal, and had ran tests to ensure both you and Morgan your daughter was fine. If this went on another week however, they had planned to induce your delivery, for not only the baby’s sake, but for yours as well.
They had also basically told you to be prepared to go into labour at any moment because of this, and Morgan was on high-alert, much to not only yours but everyone's anxiety.
The Maple Leafs were playing game five of the Stanley Cup finals, and you had wanted to go. The Leafs were up three to one, meaning they could take it all home with one more win. You felt horrible for Morgan, as he had next to no time to celebrate what his team had accomplished so far because he was too busy worrying over you.
"We'll sit in the box Morgan, that way if something were to happen, we could leave right away with no fuss," Steph offered, trying to help you out.
"And I'll be by Y/N's side the entire time," Your Mom spoke, and Shirley nodded in agreement, "Me too, we'll make sure nothing happens to her or the baby Morgan,"
Morgan sighed, and scratched the back of his neck, something he often did when he was nervous or anxious. You assumed it was both in this situation.
"I don't want to come if it's going to throw you off, I'll just stay back and Mason can go with everyone else," you finally said, and everyone seemed to frown. You wanted to be there more than anything, but not if it was going to be a distraction to him.
"But Mom, I want you to come," Mason pouted, standing from his seat and giving you a hug.
"I know, but maybe Dad is right, maybe it's better I stay here just in case your baby sister finally decides to make her grand entrance," you sighed, rubbing your tummy.
Your mother clicked her tongue before speaking, "Let me ask you this, have you felt any different today? Eating more? Eating less? Using the bathroom regularly? Headaches? Feeling bloated?"
"I'm pregnant Mom, of course I feel bloated," you deadpanned but she rolled her eyes, "you know what I meant,"
Shaking your head, you thought a loud, "I mean, no, not really, I don't feel any different then I have over the past month really,"
Shirley sent your Mom a look, and they both seemed to be have a silent conversation. "We think you'll be fine, I mean you could sit here all night and have nothing happen,"
"Or she could come and have everything go wrong. I'm not trying to be mean but I'm just scared something bad is going to happen. I just care," Morgan sighed, before he walked towards you and embraced you. Placing your hands over his arms, you leaned into him, "I know Morgan, and I love you for caring so much,"
"But?" He then questioned, looking down at you.
You groaned, "I just want to be there to support you, I promise you if anything happens you'll be the first to know,"
"Y/N," Morgan groaned.
"Morgan,"
Looking over, you both stared at Andy, who hadn't spoken much since this discussion began. He was giving his son a stern look. "Just go play hockey Morgan. Don't worry about anything else. It's just a few hours, and Y/N will be fine. She's here now and she'll be here after the game,"
Morgan seemed to heed his father’s words because he just nodded solemnly. Pressing his lips against your temple, he gave you one last squeeze, "just do what you think is best, okay?"
"I will," you promised, sending him a reassuring smile.
Stepping away to allow Morgan to say goodbye to Mason, you stood with your mother, who had began rubbing your back in a soothing manner.
"Everything's going to be fine," she spoke, and you just hoped she was right.
After Morgan left, you decided to go to the game. The thought of watching from home made you feel sick. You were going to be there, hell or high water. And you did listen to Morgan.
He had told you to do what you thought was best; So, you didn't tell him you were coming.
"You okay, do you need anything? Are you comfortable enough because we can go somewhere else-"
"Steph, I'm fine," you spoke, as you took your seat in the private box that had been provided for family members of the team.
"Okay, just double checking," she sighed, before she plopped down next to you. She seemed more nervous than you.
"She's fine," your Mother said, as she took her spot next to you. "It's not like she hasn't done this before,"
And you were fine.
Until you went to the washroom during the first intermission. You had wanted to hurry, since the Leafs were winning the game currently, as they were up by two goals. But once you were finished, you noticed a small bit of blood pooling in the toilet.
It was quite normal, but having blood in your urine very close to your due date typically meant you would be going into labour shortly there after, and considering you were past your due date, you hoped it meant the baby would be coming soon.
"Oh, god please not now, just wait a bit longer," you sighed to yourself. You didn't want to have to leave the game or freak Morgan out; the latter being the last thing you wanted.
But your thoughts were confirmed when your water broke shortly there after, after you had ventured back to the washroom half way through the second period.
You cursed yourself. Of course, on the one day where you absolutely didn't want the baby to come, you were going into labour,
"Are you okay? You look sick," Steph mentioned, once you returned to the box
Her question made your mother turn to look towards you, "Y/N?"
"I think my water just broke," you muttered, as you sat back in your seat.
Steph blinked in shock while your mother immediately sat up, "what are you doing?! Let's go!"
"No, it's fine, I have to stay," you said, looking back down onto the ice and watching Morgan skate around.
"Y/N, your baby is past due, we can't wait," your mom tried again, but you shook your head.
"Mom, you've been through this, you know I probably won't have the baby for at least a few more hours. So, I'd rather be here, watching Morgan, then in a hospital bed when we both know nothing is going to happen."
She sighed but nodded, understanding your reasoning. Steph however, seemed less convinced.
"Are you sure?" she questioned, looking towards you in concern.
You flashed her a small smile, "Steph, I'm fine,"
And you were.
Well, until the contractions started.
You kept track of how close they were in your head. When you had first contraction, it took about twenty minutes until your next one. Then twenty minutes became fifteen, and fifteen became ten.
Holding your whimper in as you once again shuffled in your seat, your Mom looked towards you questionably.
"Is the seat too uncomfortable? You're squirming around an awful lot,"
"No, I'm good," you said, your voice sounding shaky, trying to convince yourself more than her, but she just shook her head and turned her attention back onto the game.
But as your next contraction began, you couldn't help but cry out when the crippling pain shot through your entire body. You felt tears prick your eyes as your figure began to feel numb.
You felt your Mom grasp your hand, and she held it tightly, "do we need to go?"
You were about to decline when the pain quickly returned and instead of opening your mouth, you just nodded. You'd held on as long as you could, but the pain was too unbearable. You needed the drugs the hospital was sure to provide you with.
Standing up, your Mother helped you stand and you immediately leaned up against her. Steph stood as well, helping you walk from your other side.
Many of the other family members in the box sent your concerned looks, but you tried your best to look calm. But just as you were about to walk out, the sound of Alannah's voice caught you.
"Did you want me to go down and tell Morgan?"
"No!" you hollered, turning back around to face her.
Alannah, along with the two women on either side of you looked towards you in surprise. Breathing heavily, you spoke again, "I appreciate it, but he can't know, not yet,"
"Y/N, they're winning, there's only ten minutes left," Steph said, nodding towards the arena's shot clock.
You shook your head, "it doesn't matter. He can't know or he'll freak out, and then what? I don't want to distract him,"
"Y/N,"
"No, he told me to do what I thought was best, and I think this is best," you stated. "It's best for everyone,"
No one argued this time, and you felt pleased. "But, you can tell him, I mean, can you please tell him when the game's over?"
Alannah smiled, "of course, I'll go down a bit early so that he can know as soon as possible,"
Turning out of the room, your Mom and Steph helped you wobble to the elevator that would take you down to the parking lot so that you could head to the hospital.
As you waited for the lift, you turned to Steph, "can you go sit with Mason, and tell Morgan's parents what's going on?"
The three of them had been sitting down in the seats below the box. Steph smiled sadly, but nodded, "for sure, I'll do whatever you need,"
"Thanks Steph," you smiled before giving her a hug. She patted your back softly, "I can't wait to meet your little girl,"
Your lips curved upwards, "me either,"
Once you had gotten to your car, your Mother broke every speed limit on the way to the hospital. Pulling up in front of the emergency wing, you slammed the car into park and helped you into the building. As soon as you walked in, a nurse who had been walked by immediately came to your aid and grabbed you a wheel chair.
As your Mom got you signed in, the nurse wheeled you into a vacant hospital room and helped you get settled. Once you had been changed into your hospital gown, the nurse helped you into bed and got you several damp clothes to help cool your body down.
Taking deep breaths as you laid in the bed, the nurse then brought you a large cup of water and asked you to drink as much of it as you could. She couldn't give you any pain relief since you had to wait for the doctor but she did the best she could to get you comfortable.
"Could I do anything else for you Y/N?" she then asked, before she went to go find your Mother and your doctor.
Looking up at the television hung in the corner of your room, you asked politely if she could put the Leafs game on. She nodded and grabbed the remote and put the proper channel on. She then passed you the remote and told you that if you needed anything while she was gone to just press the nurse button on the side of the bed.
Sending her a smile as she exited your room, you then turned your attention to the TV. The game was clearly over and you couldn't help but be filled with happiness and relief as you watched the team in blue celebrating on the ice.
Your Mother shortly joined you and she fell into the spare chair next to you in a huff, clearly exhausted.
"They won Mom," you spoke, and she then looked up to the TV.
Smiling, she just nodded and leaned her head back, "that's good dear, I'm happy it all worked out,"
"Tired?" you then questioned, and she scoffed, "exhausted, I'm mentally and physically exhausted Y/N,"
Looking back up towards the screen, the camera was panelling across the ice, showing many familiar players rejoicing with one another in victory. You kept a careful eye out for your favourite player but you furrowed your brow when you didn't see him.
You felt even more confused when the commissioner came out onto the ice and presented the cup to Auston, and not your husband. The television than answered your question as you heard the colour commentator's speaking in the background.
"Auston Matthews will be accepting the cup on behalf of Leafs captain Morgan Rielly, as he left as soon as the game had ended to be with his wife, who is said to be currently giving birth to their second child."
"Talk about a buzzer beater! Well, best wishes to Morgan and his family,"
Just as you were about to say something to your Mother, you heard a loud clatter come from outside the room and in the hallway.
"Sir, this is a restricted area! Only one guest per patient!"
"My wife's giving birth! I can't miss it!"
You recognized that voice.
You jumped suddenly as Morgan came barrelling into the room, his hair a mess, his clothes disheveled, and his blue eyes wide. Your Mom looked up in shock and grabbed her chest once she realized who had entered the room.
"Morgan?"
He took a breath, "Oh thank god, I didn't miss anything,"
"How did you get here so fast?" you questioned, looking back at the television and then towards your husband.
He looked towards you sheepishly, "well let's just say I broke a few records for speed tonight,"
"and a few laws," your Mother scoffed, and you sent her a look, "like you can talk,"
Your Mother grumbled as she stood, knowing you were right. "I'll give you two sometime alone,"
You sent her a thankful nod, and she promised to be back soon. She just needed some caffeine.
"Anyways," Morgan sighed, as he took a seat on the edge of your mattress and held your hand tight, "are you okay?"
You shrugged, "I'm okay, just in pain but I'm okay,"
"Have they given you anything?" he then asked and you shook your head, "they can't yet because I'm not close enough, and they don't want the drugs wearing off before the actual birth,"
Morgan sighed, but nodded in understanding. You firmed your lips together and looked down. You suddenly felt very guilty he had to miss his team's celebration to just come and sit with you while you waited for your labour to commence.
"I'm sorry you had to miss everything for this," you muttered, causing Morgan to frown.
"For this? Baby, I wouldn't miss this for the world,"
"But the cup-"
"No cup is more important to me then you or our daughter. I want to be here with you Y/N, and I'm glad I am," Morgan reassured, as he pushed your stray hair back.
You leaned into Morgan's side as he snuggled up beside you. "I still can't believe we're having a baby,"
Morgan chuckled and kissed the crown of your head, "never thought huh?"
"No," you shook your head, "if you told me I'd be sitting here beside you about to give birth to our daughter five years ago, I probably would've laughed in your face," you admitted, causing Morgan to snort.
"Well, I'm glad everything worked out," he then said, before he turned his attention back towards the television, where he watched his team celebrate.
Two hours later, your contractions had become only two minutes apart, alerting your nurse and having your doctor finally provide you with your much-needed pain relieving needle. Holding Morgan's hand tight, you closed your eyes as your birthing process finally began.
It felt like hours passed by, when in reality it had only been around forty minutes until your doctor was commanding you to push. As tears streamed down your cheeks, and your hair clung to your forehead from your sweat, you bit down onto your lip hard, drawing blood, to try and keep your screams at bay.
But it was all worth it. Your little girls' high pitched wail had brought you back to Earth, and the pain flowing through your body suddenly ceased as you watched as your nurse bring you your little bundle of joy.
"Hi sweetie," you cooed out, as you held your brand-new baby girl tightly in your arms. Morgan looked on in awe, as he stared at the two of you. Leaning over, you allowed Morgan to properly see your daughter, and you swear you saw his eyes water.
"Hi Maddie," he whispered, as he placed his pointer finger down into her small open palm, causing her little fingers to wrap around it.
"She has your eyes," you spoke, as you stared towards her vibrant blue eyes.
"Yeah, but she has your hair," Morgan replied, as he continued to smile towards your daughter. He was right, as she had a full head of Y/H/C coloured hair.
The doctors voice caught your attention as he spoke with the nurse. "Baby Rielly, female, born on Wednesday June fourteenth, one forty-three A.M, 19.93 inches, and weighing in at seven pounds, six ounces,"
She nodded as she quickly wrote down his report, before turning to you and Morgan.
"Did you have a name picked out?" The nurse then asked, as she continued to fill out the birth record.
Looking towards Morgan, you sent him a smile and he nodded towards the nurse, "Madelyn Amber Rielly,"
She grinned, "Aww, that's so beautiful,"
"That she is," Morgan sighed, causing you to smile.
"We'll leave you for a few moments. I'll be back shortly to check on the both of you," the doctor than spoke, before he promptly left the room.
"You have quite a few guests in the waiting room apparently. Did you want me to go tell them?" your nurse then asked, as she placed two ice waters down for you and Morgan.
"Yes, thanks," Morgan replied, and she smiled, before heading out towards the waiting room.
"Lots of people want to meet you Madelyn," you spoke, as your daughter's blue eyes zeroed in on you. "but there's one person I really want you to meet first."
Two quick knocks sounded before Mason, along with your Mom and Morgan's parents strolled into the room. Mason, who in fairness looked absolutely exhausted, immediately rushed to your side, and placed his hands down onto your arm. Morgan scooted back to allow Mason to see both you and his new sister.
"Are you okay Mom?" he asked, concern evident in his tone.
You nodded and sent him a smile, "I'm okay Mace,"
"This is Madelyn, your baby sister," Morgan then spoke, as he placed a hand onto Mason's back. Mason's familiar blue eyes stared towards the newborn, and you watched as his lips curved upwards.
"She's a lot bigger than I thought she'd be," he spoke, as he leaned in closer to look at Madelyn.
You chuckled, "well, she got baked a bit longer then she was supposed to, but it's normal,"
"She's perfect, absolutely perfect." Morgan then added, as he then ushered your parents over.
"This is Madelyn Amber Rielly," he then announced, as Shirley and Andy looked down towards their new granddaughter and your Mother walked to the other side of the bed to place her hand on your shoulder.
"She's beautiful," Shirley gushed, as tears pricked her eyes, causing Andy to hold her close. Morgan's father then added, "You did good son, you did good,"
"You both did," your Mom said, as she smiled down towards Madelyn.
About fifteen minutes later, your parents all vacated the room, allowing your other visitors a chance to come visit. You handed Madelyn over to Morgan, while you let Mason lay up on your bed with you.
The first set of guests included Auston, Mitch, Stephanie, Zach, and Alannah, who came in with balloons and flowers, surprising you.
"You guys didn't have to do this," you said, flashing Auston a smile as he placed your new bouquet of flowers beside your bed.
"We wanted to," Zach shrugged, and you just nodded.
"I'm so happy for you!" Steph exclaimed, as she walked over to give you a hug.
"Did it hurt?" Alannah then asked, looking nervous. You laughed with a nod, "but it was all worth it,"
"That's my baby sister," Mason then told his uncle, as Mitch took a seat next to him on the large bed. Mason's Uncle Mitchy then patted him on the back and sent him a grin, "What do you think?"
"She's pretty," Mason then said, "like really pretty, like my Mom,"
Morgan sent his son a smile and your heart swelled from Mason's words, "And don't worry, I'm always going to take care of her, I'm not going to let anyone hurt her,"
"Aww," Steph cooed, placing her hand over her heart. “That’s my boy,” Mitch added, before pulling him in for a quick hug.
"What's her name?" Auston then asked, as he looked down at your daughter from beside Morgan, "Madelyn," he answered.
"That's so cute," Alannah said, as she leaned up against her boyfriend.
"Well you did good Mo, I'm happy for you," Zach then voiced, and Morgan sent him a smile, "I did great actually,"
"When do we get to take her home?" Mason then questioned, turning to look back at you.
"Probably sometime late tomorrow or the day after, they just want to make sure she's healthy before then," you explained, and Mason nodded.
The doctor then knocked on your door before he waltzed back into the room. "I'm sorry to interrupt but we need to take Madelyn for testing, just to make sure she's alright, and we need to check to make sure Mom is all good too,"
"No worries, we'll see you guys later," Auston then said, as the five adults exited the room.
"Why don't you take Mace home and you guys can come back tomorrow morning?" you suggested, and Morgan nodded solemnly. You knew he didn't want to leave you but he didn't really have a choice.
As the doctor took Madelyn away, Mason frowned towards you, "You're not coming with us?"
"I can't Mason, I'm not well enough yet," you spoke and he sighed, before leaning down to give you a hug. "I don't want to leave you here all alone,"
"I'll be fine baby, you can come back as soon as you wake up, okay?" you added, looking him in the eyes.
Mason just nodded before giving you a quick kiss and hopping off the bed. Morgan finally then stood and leaned over you to give you a hug. "We'll be back before dawn,"
You chuckled, "I believe you,"
Morgan then smiled before he placed his lips onto yours and gave you a tender kiss. "I love you," he spoke as he pulled away.
"I love you too,"
Two weeks later, you found yourself holding Madelyn in your arms while you rocked away in her nursery. It was nearly four in the morning, but you were wide awake. She had been whimpering earlier in the night, which caused you to walk in and check on her. But even though she had fallen back to sleep, you didn't have the heart to put your daughter back into her crib. You didn't want to leave her alone.
Staring down at her soft features, you couldn't help but smile. She was beautiful. Her small rose bud lips contrasted against her pale skin. Her long eyelashes fanned across the top of her cheeks and her full head of hair danced along her forehead. She was definitely your baby girl.
The sound of your bedroom light flicking on caught your attention as the hallway lit up. Morgan's footsteps padded against the hardwood hallway, before he walked into Madelyn's nursery.
"Not coming back to bed?" he asked, as he ventured towards you to place a kiss onto the top of your head.
"I can't will myself to leave her, she's just so peaceful," you explained, and Morgan hummed in agreement, as he rubbed your back soothingly.
"You need some sleep too though babe," Morgan then reminded you, causing you to sigh. You knew he was right. Madelyn was bound to be back up in a few hours, which would put an end to your sleep until her nap later in the afternoon.
"I'll take her, you just go back to bed," he then said, before you nodded and carefully handed Maddie over to him before you stood up.
As much as you wanted to believe Morgan was just being helpful, you knew he just wanted some alone time with Madelyn. He adored his baby girl. Any chance he could, he held her in his arms and you knew she was going to be a huge Daddy's girl once she got older.
Giving him a quick kiss on the lips, you then journeyed out of the nursery and back into your bedroom. Slipping your house coat off, you climbed up onto your mattress and pulled the duvet over you. Snuggling into your pillows, you waited patiently for Morgan to return, knowing he might be a bit.
Staring at the clock on your nightstand, it was about ten minutes later when Morgan rejoined you and slipped back into bed. You leaned your head back onto his shoulder when you felt Morgan's large arms wrap around your centre and pull you into his chest. Pressing his lips onto your shoulder, he held you close and he tried to will himself back to sleep.
"Morgan?" you then questioned, causing him to stir.
"Yeah?" he questioned, his voice sounding groggy once again.
"Thank you," you spoke, causing him to sit up to look down at you.
"For what Y/N?" he asked, looking towards you confused.
Your lips curved upwards, "for everything. For Mason, for Maddie, for loving me as much as you do,"
He grinned lazily before shaking his head, "what's this all about?"
"I'm just happy," you said, "I'm happy I have you, and I'm happy for everything you've given me,"
"Y/N," he sighed, before pulling you back in tightly.
"I love you Morgan," you proclaimed, and you felt him smile against you.
"I love you too, more then you'll ever know,"
