Goku gets to keep Bardock’s scouter, a way to remember him and hear his voice. I saw someone said Goku now has 2 items he can cherish, his grandpa’s 4 star Dragon Ball and the scouter. I know Goku had no deep interest on getting to know or meet his real parents before, he could possibly in the near future. But I don’t think he needs to, I’m just glad he remembers them in a way and he just kept moving forward.

My heart aches when I listen to this song, every time.

While I see Sakura no ki no shita (Under the cherry blossoms tree), the OP song of Gaiden, as something poured out from Konzen, this ending song feels like it’s coming from Goku. Somehow, Sakura no ki no shita feels powerful and hopeful, albeit in a sad way, but this song… it’s full of endurance, perseverance, unending longingness that is very Goku. He held onto Konzen’s promise (whether he remembered or not) for 500 years and he was still hopeful when Sanzo finally came. His cheerfulness, his perseverance, his radiance… My heart ached so much…

My boy really deserves so much more…
