I think they do care for each other it's just something deeply complicated. And bitter. #I truly feel for JC and WWX in this scene because while it's implied YZY really pushes the limit...it's apparent this isn't new. #And it's so petty! Anyone who lived through a parent pitting you against a sibling can tell you that this stuff messed them up #regardless of what side you were on (the golden one or the fuck up). #It doesn't matter what is said. It matters that it was said at all. That you can't shake the concept once it was spoken. #The Jiang household is so much more miserable the deeper you examine what's going on and how they cope with it. #Knowing that a parent does not like you is just awful. Buttercups and Golden Flowers

#i drew this mostly because i noticed that a lot of people mistake buttercups and golden flowers as being the same thing. #so i wanted to try drawing them like. distinctly different in the same image. #it's not a big thing but i do think the fact that they're different has some significance. or at least like. symbolic meaning. #my art #undertale #chara #chara dreemurr #safeutdr #something about the fact that they both look similar at least in color but one of them is poisonous. #the way golden flowers are clearly a positive symbol throughout the game and clearly heavily associated with Chara. #contrasted with the very negative connotations buttercups have. with asgore getting sick and chara using them in their plan. #you never see buttercups in the game. which makes it even easier to mistake the two. because we've only seen one kind of #golden/yellow flower. who's to say 'golden flowers' aren't just referring to buttercups? well. #why would there be golden flower tea if they were poisonous? why would chara want to see the golden flowers from their village if they're #the same kind of flower? they clearly have buttercups in the underground. #it feels almost intentional the way golden flowers are so easily mistaken for buttercups. or at least that the difference is so subtle. #it goes well with the way they're associated so strongly with chara who's also a very subtle yet important part of the narrative. #from a surface-level perspective the flowers that took their life and the one's they actually like/are important to them are the same thing #but when you pay closer attention to the narrative you can see the different symbolic meanings. #well. uhh I've thought about it too much don't mind me. #see i think about it from the perspective of chara being super adamant about them being two different flowers #and frustrated when anybody gets it wrong. because clearly. The first time Sonic went Super in Road Trip wasn't exactly as stunning to Tails as other au's and stories.

Tails is like maybe 5 here (I'm not actually that organized on the timeline for this au yet, I'm getting there though, things are getting in order.) and he wasn't forced to grow up and be a hero in this au. So he's a bit more childish than canon Tails because he doesn't feel as pressured to mature and grow up fast. Plus, he genuinely thinks Sonic is going to die and this is the last time he see's him, so tears are bound to come down.

This isn't Sonic putting himself first- #-but him trying to comfort Tails because even if it's cheesy- Tails will only feel okay if Sonic is okay. #Apparently it calms children down if they listen to their parents heartbeat (melts my heart when I remember that) so Sonic put- #-Tails close to him not only so he could hear that Sonic is alive- but also to try calming him down a little more. #Small thing I started incorporating way too late- Sonic will call Tails Big Guy if the kit is smaller than him and- #-Little Guy if the kit is larger than him. #Sonic changed his pattern color to be blue like Tails' eyes after he points out that they are both yellow (it's not colored here- #- but you probably remember that Super Sonic has golden fur.) #Sonic is constantly rubbing a thumb on Tails' hand as a comforting gesture. #That's my ramble- I know it's just pretty bare bone stuff that anyone reading might get but I freaking love explaining stuff (I gotta stop)
