Idia’s Backstory Translation

Don’t look at me I’m a mess rn

Disclaimer: my own translation, just for entertainment purposes, there might be mistakes. Proceed to suffer.

Idia: My whole life was decided before I was even born.

“The Guardian of the Island of Woe”

That’s my future job.

Those who are born into the Shroud family are able to burn off accumulated blot in their bodies easily…

It is an unique magic that opens and closes the gates of “The Underworld”

Researcher A: Idia-sama is truly excellent in both academics and magic.

Researcher A: Experts in the magic engineering field are especially interested in him. He’s a genius.

Researcher B: Yes. The future of [S.T.Y.X.] is secure with him.

“What do you want to be when you grow up?”

For an ordinary child, that’s a question that will be asked to them at least once.

Young Idia: Heroes….I thought I might be able to go with Ortho, but I guess I can’t.

Young Ortho: Why? I want to be with my brother.

Young Idia: Because when I grow up, I have to take over the household…

Young Ortho: Well, what about before you grow up?

Young Idia: Before I grow up…?

Young Ortho: Yeah. You can go on an adventure trip before you grow up, right?

Young Idia: No way…It can’t be…The security system I hacked into and turned off earlier…

Young Idia: N-no. I have to turn it back on!

Young Ortho:…B-big brother!

Young Idia: It’s okay. Your brother is lucky.

Young Ortho: No, brother…there’s something at the end of the corridor!

Young Idia: Eh?!

???: *growls!*

Young Idia: That’s- a monster?!

???: *growls*

I don’t remember what happened from there.

By the time I woke up, Ortho was gone.

Researcher A: I can’t believe that a 10-year-old boy could hack into the world’s highest security system…

Researcher C: He is too much of a genius. I never expected it to end in such a tragedy…

Researcher A: They say that all the phantoms were sent down to the underworld.

Researcher B: Even though there was no other choice….It was an unfortunate incident.

Young Idia: It was my fault. I was the one who told him to go on an adventure.

Young Idia: How can I be a genius if I can’t even protect my brother…? How could I ever be a hero?!

Young Idia: Ortho come back…give me Ortho back…

Young Idia: Every part of Ortho…return his body, his personality, his memories, everything!!

Young Idia:….that’s right.

If he can’t come back on his own, I can just make him.

….It’s okay. I remember everything. I can make the perfect Ortho again.

We promised we would go on an adventure together…

Researcher A: Idia-sama…It’s been more than two years since he has stayed inside his room.

Researcher B: He has shut his heart ever since losing Ortho-sama.

The way he goes from laughing to crying during the hero line was heartbreaking, and the way he was begging to get Ortho back dealt me some heavy emotional damage. God I loved this chapter.

TWST CHAPTER SIX SPOILERS

I tagged this fucker every way possible and included a title plus a read-more. You have been warned.

I am not okay. I am so not okay. And surprisingly, it’s not from Idia and Ortho, though yes, that was worse than I was expecting for their backstory and I will never emotionally recover from it.

No, the one that has me fucked up the most is VIL. He threw away everything all for the sake of saving Idia and Grim. Leona had already warned him of the consequences. But even though Vil had spent his whole life working for his beauty and acting career, even though he was willing to commit murder and overblot in chapter 5 and emphasized his commitment to his desire to be “the fairest of them all” in chapter 6 - he sacrificed everything. Even more than that, it’s only because of his sacrifice that they were able to close the gate to the underworld and save the world.

He lost all of his youth and vitality and aged to an old man despite being 18 for the boy that kidnapped, tormented, and nearly killed him and the monster cat that helped stop him in chapter 5. He was willing to sacrifice his entire life for them.

Vil finally proved what he wanted to after chapter 5. Vil is the true hero of this chapter.

Ignihyde Chapter Advice

I’ve noticed there are a lot of ENG players struggling, so I’m going to provide a small tidbit of advice. In the Ignihyde Chapter, it’s more vital than ever to pay attention to Spell Elements. A lot of chapters will require you to pay attention to the Elements the enemies will have when setting up your team and the order of the appearance of the Elements in combat on the left-hand side of the screen. This go around, these are NOT suggestions. You either get the upper hand/break even with same element vs same element or you WILL lose.

And Auto Battle will NOT be your friend in the Ignihyde Chapter. You WILL have to use your brain and take note of elemental attack patterns to come out on top. And for endurance battles, ALWAYS go for a team of High HP cards because going for taking them out via HP is hardly viable unless you have some VERY good cards. As someone who has played both the JP and ENG versions of this chapter set release now, I want to help make this as easy for players to get through as possible. Please note it may take you several tries to pick up the pattern, but you WILL get it. (And please make sure you have one of EACH of the different characters up to at LEAST Lv 40 and with both spell slots at at least Lv 5 or you will SUFFER with the later gimmicks with the near-end of story boss battles! The card soft locking will give you trouble if you neglect the spell slots ESPECIALLY! Thankfully the characters you need to worry about are only the ones actively involved in the plot line, like the OB Squad and the Rescue Committee.) Good luck and may you get through Idia’s nonsense quickly!

So one thing that I really liked is how original the Ignihyde overblot may be. Because back in September 2021, we're all like "yeah, it's Idia's time". Then, a few updates here and there and people we're like "oh wait... what if it's Ortho tho?" and to be honest, it didn't sound fair to me bc Idia is the one based on Hades. This isn't like the Scarabia arc where Jamil is Jafar thus was him who should overblot.

Then March finally came and twst was like

"PROBLEM SOLVED! EVERYBODY HAPPY"

Reality: It's still a overblot. We don't even know what kind of UM Idia have. WE'RE ALL GOING TO HELL BYE

One of the details I loved the most of the Ignihyde chapter is how Idia kept repeating the phrase "Just leave it to your brother" and the tone and weight it conveyed depending on the situation....

spoilers below

some examples:

● the first one I can immediately think of was at the end of the past update, right before Idia overblots. This one reads as Idia being so tired of his pain that he finally gives in to it, leading to his overblot.

● then, during the flashback of when they were children he says it as a promise of going on an adventure with Ortho. It's an innocent vow that leads to terrible consequences.

● the next one it's after the tragedy has occurred, when Idia is processing his guilt and decides to create the Ortho we know as a way to cope with grief. This time it feels like a desperate cry.

Idia has always been the one taking care of any troubles, even without Ortho having to ask for it...

● then we get the farewell scene, and this time Ortho is telling him to stay in this world so he can fulfill their dreams. This is the first time Ortho is the one directly asking him to take care of something, and that something is for Idia to keep on with his life even if it's though sometimes. His only direct request is that Idia stays alive to see the future they dreamed of.

and then my absolute favourite example, right at the end of the chapter:

After the fight against OB Idia, he falls down into the underworld along with Ortho and Grim. Vil jumps after them (while knowing what would happen to him btw) and barely manages to rescue Idia and Grim , but Ortho stays behind.

We think Ortho is gone for good, but then Idia finds his memory card on the ground, and it turns out that Grim had swallowed it somehow. And on a parallel to the ending of the movie Big Hero 6, this means that he'll be able to rebuild Ortho's body and keep the memories he had previously.

He does exactly that, and on their reunion he tells Ortho that he doesn't have to act like his little brother anymore, he has reached a point where he is sentient enough to warrant his own free will. Ortho tells him that all he wants to be is "Idia's little brother" instead of a fake. Idia is moved and tells him that he has always been his brother.

● this Ortho has one single request, and whispers it to Idia. We're not told what it is at this moment, but Idia smiles and repeats "Just leave it to your brother" one more time. This time it feels like a happy and playful assurance.

Ortho's request? He wants to become an official student at NRC. [S.T.Y.X.] pulls some strings and makes it happen.

Crowley introduces Ortho as the new student in class 1-C at the housewarming party for the renovated Ramshackle dorm at the end.

The Shroud brothers are finally laughing and playing games with friends.
