I really have no issues with how the Illuminati were portrayed in MoM because that was exactly what the Illuminati is meant to be. The Illuminati isn't about heroes doing cool things, it is a collection of egos working behind the scenes who think their combined brilliance can fix all problems and then being violently confronted with the fact they cannot. The group's arrogance and overconfidence (and the fact they were all variants) is what ultimately destroyed them.

They are essentially a warning of what could happen if Strange forms his own 616 Illuminati, which is almost certainly going to happen since it looks like they are setting up Secret Wars.

I apparently re-exploded in the Secret World fandom today because someone found my old Illuminati cosplay photos and like-bombed them. When I mentioned that I had cosplayed all 3 factions (Illuminati, Templar, Dragon), they were surprised because it turns out there aren’t actually all that many photos of me cosplaying the other two factions.

I can’t help it if the Illuminati coat is just that photogenic...

And yes, those coats are hand-sewn by yours truly. Yes, I have done custom-sized coats on commission for a couple of other fans.
