7. What’s your favourite piece of music from any show?
Oooh I'm going to cheat and pick 2:
Shatter from In Strange Woods, gives me chills every time I listen to it. Podcast musicals don't really work for me but this series was the exception, and this song in particular was the point I realised this was something truly special.
The title music for Rogue Runners, it goes hard.
Bonus! (I cannot be contained apparently) all the music from The Lightning Bottler, a beautiful synthesis of poetry and music

yes I just slept twenty hours and now I'm listening to the In Strange Woods album. yes I'm fine.
if anyone wants a peek at the brainworms, may I suggest:
youtube
(FAIR WARNING for references to a dead teenager - a tragic accident - and some very callous discussion on that topic.)
(and if you're interested, I recommend the podcast over the album, or you'll miss bits. prod me if you want further warnings.)

In Strange Woods is absolutely a comfort media... Does it hurt? Yes, yes it does.
But it's also like... I don't know, it makes my heart feel a little lighter everytime.

I love the repetition of "What (insert pronoun) didn't know was..." in In Strange Woods. I love it so much. I love when at the end of chapter one Brett goes "🎶But what she didn't know was...🎶 Next time." and I love every single other time he does That.

Peregrine noticed Howl perk up in her peripheral vision, likely waiting to hear the driver present his own name to them. And that he did, “Peter.”
“That’s…your name?” Peregrine asked.
“Yeah,” the driver glanced up to his rearview mirror and made eye contact with Peregrine through it, “Do I not look like a Peter to you?”
“You look so much like a Peter."
Suddenly in 1989, Howl and Peregrine find themselves hitchhiking to Whitetail in the run-down van of a recently broken up Peter Howland.

Okay so I just listened to a musical podcast my friend recommended to me and now I’m recommending it to all of you. It’s called In Strange Woods and it made me really emotional (and I maybe cried multiple times). It’s really good. It’s fictional, but it’s framed as a true crime podcast, and it’s a musical with some really good music. It deals with some really heavy topics about handling grief after losing a loved one, choosing to cling to the grief or move forward in life, different kinds of familial relationships and tension between the generations, and whether it’s better to be self sufficient and ready for an emergency but alone or part of a community that is willing to all lend a hand helping each other even if it means any single person in the community might not know how to help themself by themself if a situation arises.

i listened to In Strange Woods well before Hadestown, and as I started listening to Hadestown for like, the second time since I saw it live, Hades’ voice finally clicked and I was like “wait a second.... Howl???”
anyway a little bit of googling later and that is in fact howl, which is kind of wild to me

A Quick Update
Hey, long time no post!! I just wanted to update y'all on this event since there's been a lot of changes and no public updates on things.
First off-- our schedule has changed quite a bit; posting week is only just now coming up, since it had to be pushed back a few times. Posting week will now be from February 7th to February 13th.
Also, we have had a lot of stuff come up-- pretty much everyone involved in this event has gotten kicked in the face by life over the course of the event, so many participants have unfortunately had to drop out and many fics/art pieces are still currently unfinished. Posting week therefore is more of a guideline, rather than anything else, and it's possible a lot of pieces will be posted much further down the line.
All fics and art will still be reblogged here if and when they are posted, so if you wanna see those once they're done, feel free to keep checking back!! But yeah, this is a little more of a gentle fizzle than a true bang, just because so many people's general life circumstances have prevented them from finishing things.
That's all there really is to update on for now!
