The Net of Indra is a vast, bejeweled matrix spanning and encompassing the whole universe. From every knot hangs a jewel, and each jewel reflects all the other jewels within the net. My father’s life was one jewel hanging from a knot in that infinite web, and in that jewel was reflected my life, and my brothers’ lives, and my mother’s life. —Eugene Richards, “A Life Too Long”

There is an endless net of threads throughout the universe… At every crossing of the threads there is an individual. And every individual is a crystal bead. And every crystal bead reflects Not only the light from every other crystal in the net …But also every other reflection Throughout the entire universe. "an adaptation of The Net of Jewels, or Indra's Net, one of the oldest written creations of humanity"

Quote
Imagine at dawn a multidimensional spider’s web covered with dew, a vast spider’s web that is the whole cosmos. It exists in four, five, six or more dimensions, and at every intersection of web are rainbow-colored jewels of dew on which are reflected every other drop of dew, and therefore also the reflections of all the other drops of dew, and also the reflections of the reflections, and so on, ad infinitum. This is the Mahayana vision of the world. No thing, no event, can exist without every other thing or event. Every event implies all events; every event — the total universe, past, present, future — depends on every particular event or thing. It is easy to say, ‘I depend on the universe. There could be no me unless there was everything else.’ It is harder to see the corollary, that the whole universe depends on you.

idk why but that hitoya training post made me double check hitoya and kuukou's ages to make sure it couldnt be reincarnation but now im not so sure
lol wouldn’t that be interesting tho?????
hitoya and jakurai met when they were 13 i think??? and sora died when they were 14??? so that’s 21-22 years ago which would totally give enough time for sora’s soul to reincarnate!!!! and the way kuukou’s name includes the kanji for sky (sora) but is read differently, similar to the way sora’s name is read differently than the kanji that makes up his name
i think there’s some merit!!!!!!

Rain as Indra's Web, 1/3/24
(Talking with Lev on raindrops, cont. from the abyss sigil talk)
L: Have a look at the raindrops. What do you see?
D: Admittedly looks like semen.
L: And?
D: Jewels of the (Indra's) Web
L: And? I'll keep asking, you know. And no, there's not one answer, other than "rain"
D: Eyes, portals to see and see through. Impermanence, something fading and being brought up again immediately. Faces, for some reason, reflecting all those (inc. spirits, plants, non-conscious things) affected by it, which is actually everything. Blood, gelatinous, of jellyfish people. Herbs -
L: That's enough. Good job, you're getting that this is your web, Indra. In each rain drop you can see all, and specifically, in each drop is everything. This is your web.

The Jewel Net of Indra -TA
There are several aspects of Indra’s Net, that signify it as a crystal clear allegory of reality:
1. The Holographic Nature of the Universe
Long before the existence of the hologram, the jeweled net is an excellent description of the special characteristic of holograms: that every point of the hologram contains information regarding all other points. This reflective nature of the jewels is an obvious reference to this.
This kind of analogy has been suggested by science as a theory for an essential characteristic of the cosmos, as well as as the functioning of the human brain, as beautifully described inThe Holograpic Universe by Michael Talbot.
2. The Interconnectedness of All Thingss
When any jewel in the net is touched, all other jewels in the node are affected. This speaks to the hidden interconnectedness and interdependency of everything and everyone in the universe, and has an indirect reference to the concept of “Dependent Origination” in Buddhism. Additionally, Indra’s Net is a definitive ancient correlate of Bell’s Theorum, or the theory of non-local causes.
3. Lack of a substantive self
Each node, representing an individual, simply reflects the qualities of all other nodes, inferring the notion of ‘not-self’ or a lack of a solid and real inherent self, as seen in the Advaita Vedanta school of Hinduism and Buddhism in general.
4. Non-locality
Indra’s Net shoots holes in the assumption or imputation of a solid and fixed universe ‘out there’. The capacity of one jewel to reflect the light of another jewel from the other edge of infinity is something that is difficult for the linear mind, rational mind to comprehend. The fact that all nodes are simply reflections indicates that there is no particular single source point from where it all arises.
5. Innate Wisdom
The ability to reflect the entirety of all light in the universe attests to the inherent transcendant wisdom that is at the core of all nodes, representing all sentient beings, and to the inherent Buddha Nature.
6. Illusion or Maya
The fact that all nodes are simply a reflection of all others implies the illusory nature of all appearances. Appearances are thus not reality but a reflection of reality.
7. Universal Creativity
A familiar concept in various high dharmas is one of an impersonal creative intelligence that springs forth into reality through the instruments of all living beings.
8. The Mirror-like Nature of Mind
The capacity to reflect all things attests to the mind being a mirror of reality, not its basis. This is a common thesis among various schools and religions.

From “The Flower Bank World” in the Avatamsaka Sutra
Tumblr media
The Buddhist Painting of Songgwansa Temple, Suncheon, South Korea (Illustration of Avatamsaka Sutra)
“Then Universally Good also said to the assembly, ‘In the land masses of this ocean of worlds are seas of fragrant waters, as numerous as atoms in unspeakably many buddha-fields. All beautiful jewels adorn the floors of those seas; gems of exquisite fragrances adorn their shores. They are meshed with luminous diamonds. Their fragrant waters shine with the colors of all jewels. Flowers of all kinds of gems swirl on their surfaces. Sandalwood powder settles on the bottom of the seas. They emanate the sounds of Buddhas’ speech. They radiate jewellike light. Boundless enlightening beings, holding various canopies, manifest mystic powers causing the adornments of all worlds to appear therein. Stairways of ten kinds of precious substances are set out in rows, with balustrades of ten kinds of jewels surrounding them. White lotuses ornamented with jewels, as many as atoms in four continents, are spread over the waters, in full bloom. There are unspeakable hundreds of thousands of billions of trillions of banners of ten precious elements, banners of belled gauze of raiments of all jewels, as many as sand grains in the Ganges river, jewel flower palaces of boundless forms, as many as sand grains in the Ganges river, a hundred thousand billion trillion lotus castles of ten precious substances, forests of jewel trees as many as atoms in four continents, networks of flaming jewels, as many sandalwood perfumes as grains of sand in the Ganges, and jewels of blazing radiance emitting the sounds of Buddhas’ speech…”
--From book five “The Flower Bank World” in the The Flower Ornament Scripture (Buddhāvataṃsaka Sūtra), translated from Chinese by Thomas Cleary. The various sutras were originally composed in Sanskrit and compiled and translated into Chinese in the 5th century CE. Thomas Cleary’s English translation is based on the Chinese translation done by the Khotanese monk Shikshananda (652-710 CE), who translated it at the request of the Tang Empress.
I stumbled upon this sutra in the back of a book that included a ‘glossary of buddhist terms’ while at a Zen meditation retreat. Flower cosmology? That sounds like my shit. Since I didn’t have my phone I wrote the name down on a piece of paper and slipped it into my backpack. It really is as incredible as I imagined it to be.
“Alan Fox has described the sutra's worldview as ‘fractal’, ‘holographic’, and ‘psychedelic’”—yes.
“In the Huayan school, the teaching of interpenetration is depicted through various metaphors, such as Indra's net, a teaching which may have been influenced by the Gandhavyuha chapter's climax scene in Vairocana's Tower. Indra's net is an infinite cosmic net that contains a multifaceted jewel at each vertex, with each jewel being reflected in all of the other jewels, ad infinitum. Thus, each jewel contains the entire net of jewels reflected within.”

Which arknights operators have the best pegging game and which ones have the worst?
Best:
Hoshiguma - will dick you down exactly how you like it and being held in her big strong arms will make you feel anywhere from safe and protected to primally dominated
Nearl - very sweet and responsive and good at reading your signs so she can give you what you need
Saria - will pound your prostate like it owes her money
Horn - you want to top her? By what?
Siege - did you know that lions can mate anywhere from 20 - 40 times a day?
Gavial - wildly enthusiastic, but will be gentle if you need her to. Considers submission holds a form of foreplay. Be prepared for bite marks.
Gladiia - fantastic pegging game, but be sure to use LOTS of lube
Blaze - similar to Gavial, Big Catto makes things fun and is down for all sorts of stuff. Also very warm and will cuddle you afterwards.
Texas - she's a teeny tiny Lupolet but that won't stop her from drilling you like an oil well
Lappland - sex with Lappland is wild and will leave you limping and covered with bite and scratch marks. She'll pound you like you're behind on your protection payments. If you ask real nice, she might even use lube.
Penance - they dont call her the long dick of the law for nothing
Whislash - Auntie has exacting standards. Fortunately for you, she's going to train you until you meet them.
Indra - see Gavial
Specter - see Lappland, except she's more likely to be gentle since she knows you're weak and fragile
Meteorite - something something lay you(r cervix) to siege something something caught in her intricate net
Dobermann - see Whislash
Meteor - see Nearl
Gravel - loves you very much and will do anything for you, including peg you nice and good
Worst:
Platinum - can't even handle an ab roller. Will be wheezing 3 strokes in
Swire - bless her heart, she tries, but she's just too much of a bottom
Bagpipe - see Swire.
Irene - unfortunately her swordsmanship doesn't translate here
Exusiai - see Swire
Sora - bottom
Saileach - bottom
Nightingale - cannot maintain this level of exertion for long
Skadi - variable. If you have Outstanding durability or higher, she will peg the hell out of you, but if you don't, she'll kill you on the first thrust
