So I've been thumbing through Infinity Crusade, and...Not gonna lie, but I find it infuriating and fascinating all at once that Starlin chose to let Stephen become so brainwashed by "The Goddess" that he starts attacking his friends and calling them infidels and the like. It's the kind of thing I'm surprised isn't followed up on in the actual Doctor Strange book, as Stephen would, no doubt, be guilt ridden over that.
Honestly? What's your take on all of that?
Infinity Crusade is weird, I totally agree with you. If it's any consolation, every character who had a bare minimum of connection with entities ended up brainwashed because the Goddess used this belief to twist their will. Stephen in this case knows that entities are real, despite belief or religion. Could be an argument in his favor to resist the Goddess' influence or not, I don't know. Truth is, it's not a good saga/event, which means it hardly brings consequences to solo characters (not like the Infinity Gauntlet, for instance).
Personally, I don't have strong feelings towards Infinity Crusade. It's the same feeling when I'm dealing with "fillers", I just go through it but it doesn't leave an impression haha. At this point, Marvel just wanted to milk the Infinity branding as dry as possible, this is why quality is lacking in my opinion :')
Also continuity... Continuity is always an issue when we have these events and such...
The good thing that came from this saga, tho, is Stephen's relationship with the Infinity Watch. It's not new but since I have a soft spot for cosmic characters, seeing Stephen get in touch with Adam and Gamora and even the Silver Surfer always melts my heart. So there's that haha
Thank you for passing by!

Also, this is a minor nitpick, but I cannot believe that Professor X of all people is actually arguing, "Well, maybe The Goddess is doing a good thing!"
Leans in...
No, Charles! No, she wasn't! I know your whole schtick is that you're a Martin Luthor King Jr. expy and so you'd rather things be peaceful, but you're a telepath with limited mind-control abilities. You should know some woman brainwashing your friends into being her loyal subjects and making villains docile (without their consent) is a bad thing!
This is like arguing, "Well maybe Doctor Doom did a good thing when he kidnapped The Purple Man and turned his mind-control powers into a frequency that he used to brainwash the world and made himself Earth's Emperor! He was doing things to improve humanity!". Yeah! And he still kidnapped a man and brainwashed the entire world into being his slaves! Zebadiah Killgrave might be a monster! But he still has rights!
