Man, I think my #1 favorite aspect of book 4 of infinity train is the dialogue. Truly. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a show like that, where the conversations feel so dead on for how people actually talk. I mean, we aren’t great at conveying our emotions into words, and we sometimes make our lies as obvious as possible in hopes that the other person calls us out, and we rarely tell it like it is, and we often avoid the elephant in the room, and we’re often passive aggressive and cagey when there’s a (unspoken) conflict.

Usually I see too much honesty in dialogue, especially in kids’ shows, and especially when the conversation is about interpersonal conflict, because people don’t really talk like that. They take the kind gesture as the apology it was intended as, even if they really wanted to hear the words, and they bring up the little things that’s been bothering them instead of the big thing that’s causing all the upset. I’ve talked to a lot of people who have said the dialogue was weird or difficult to understand or awkward and yes!! yes it is!! that’s the point! Talking to people, especially the people we know really really well, is all subtext, and talking about big, important things is awkward and weird and difficult, especially when you’re a young adult, and infinity train conveyed it wonderfully.

At least 10 things that are tough to conquer in the Ocean Realm (and chronologically listed)

1. Having to overcome the Shield sucking flesh volcanoes in finding the regal ring

2. Reviewing where the statues are staring and trying not to get stuck on one abandoned island in the northeast and you would be screwed with no way back unless you’ve learned the Song of Birds (I think?). It gets even more Sisyphean when you jump off the island and use up your two potions in order to respawn at your saving point.

3. Trying to draw the angled infinity sign at least 20 times in order to open the Ocean Sanctuary

4. Defeating the pirate Captain Boss that takes ? amounts of sword slashes

5. Failing at keeping up with Carben’s duet and it takes you at least 3 times before getting it right (I learned that mistake)

6. Trying to find the next 6 ocean rabbits and then you realize you might be missing the 6th one (you gotta be really patient when using the net)

7. Escaping the purple demon car that will relentlessly chase you underneath the ocean

8. Realizing that a normal blue demon car will appear next as you’re trying to escape the first spawned cursed train

9. Trying to defeat that humanoid blue mini boss so that you can gain its whip, and you learning that you can’t use the boomerang in the whole fight.

10. Finishing the Boss Key level by trying to hold on to the makeshift helicopter with your snake whip till you try to land on the platform to the boss key and as soon as you try to carry said key off the bridge at least 4 purple demon hands will try to put back the key and you have to fight all of them in order to unlock the boss level.

YES Infinity Train is absolutely amazing, I will absolutely never be over it and I am so so mad that it got canceled the way it did!

Grace, Lake, Ryan, and Amelia are probably my favorite Infinity Train characters, but it's honestly so tough not to love everyone equally

No one does complex characters and personal arcs like Infinity Train, and my lord does the premise absolutely fuck, like holy shit! And??? The writers actually DELIVERED on the potential??? Dude, the cult of the conductor makes me go so feral like YES this is how you take a premise to its limits and explore its full potential! One-one is so morally gray, and Amelia??? Oh my GOD Amelia!!!

The depictions of teenagers and adults alike are so realistic and none of the human characters fall into that trap of going ooc/acting dumb for a punchline??? They're always themselves, which means that they're always extremely believable and genuine??? Their interactions with each other are also just so??? Real??? In a way that often hurts to watch bc of the gravity it carries. Ryan, Kaz, and Min Gi's struggles were especially relatable to me, and I kid you not I rewatch the bathroom duet scene sometimes when I'm feeling down

Also the soundtrack??? Yes please bury me in ominous and foreboding synth riffs, I'm absolutely begging you. The tone of this show is so mysterious and dark, and the sense of scale??? Ughvhchfufufufufuff

I finally rewatched Infinity Train book 3

Well...I finally did it. I'll just say right away like the last two seasons. It's still a masterpiece. But also...this was the video I immediately decided to watch after finishing it.

Granted before even rewatching it and making this post. I have kept wondering of using Koichi's scream from that one scene of Godzilla Minus One. I'm not spoiling the scene, but if you've seen the film. You likely know what I'm talking about. But I feel like using that scream would seem inappropriate and way too overdramatic. So, using this scene from Courage seems appropriate in a sense it's from a cartoon yet still tragic.

And let me discuss more about this. While I believe all of Infinity Train needs to have a physical release. "Cult of the Conductor" is the one that deserves it. All of them too, including "Duet". But I think why feel like book 3 seems to really deserve it because it's the one that...really sticks with you. Even though I know what happens...the pain doesn't stop. Even if I don't feel overly emotional like I want to.

I still understand why they went with the route they went with book 3. I do applaud them for being that ballsy. Yet it still hurts...and I still dislike it. I love it, and I hate it.

No wonder I made an alternative take on episodes 9 and 10 to help myself. Yet it still deals with the same stuff but gives it a happier ending in a sense...yet I know I strangely made something worse than what happens in episodes 9 and 10. And rewatching book 3. Holy crap, I really did do my homework when writing "The False Prophet" and I'm glad grateful I wrote it. I still want to add/change little things to make sure I got things right.

I'll be honest, I don't know if I'll rewatch book 4. I still love it. But I don't think I'm in the mood. Maybe it's the feeling knowing while that's before all the seasons...I don't want to finish the show again with that.

In fact, while I still want a book 5 movie. I'm hesitant to have other seasons. But alias, the show was cancelled, and Cartoon Network and WB don't give a damn about it. They really don't care about the fact they had what was likely one of the greatest shows that debuted on Cartoon Network. And I feel like book 5 focusing on Amelia would've cemented that fact.

I want to admit while Hilda is my all-time personal favorite show. The one show that gets close to that is Infinity Train.

Fuck, listening to Naoki Sato's "Elegy" as I write this really sells the mood. Anyway, I will be watching Hazbin Hotel sometime later. Despite hearing that show is going to be somehow "Darker" than Helluva Boss or something intrigues me. But I question if it will..."Break" me like Infinity Train book 3 did. Yet I hope the series cheers me up. If it makes me emotional, alright then. I've heard episode 4 is a tearjerker.

And I literally just made my Twitter version of this as I was making it.
