Encantober is an Encanto fandom event with themes for each day of the month of October (link to theme list in a copy/pasteable format Here), inspired by the concept of Inktober. Encantober is open to any and all content, including art, drabbles, one-shots, and more.

Fanworks can be shared via the #Encantober tag on tumblr and/or posted as part of the AO3 collection HERE.

Rules:

Works must be a part of the Encanto (2021) fandom. OCs, AUs, and crossovers are permitted.

Works must adhere to one of the Encantober themes.

Series of Encantober works are welcome.

Happy 10th anniversary to my beloved Free! fandom. When I was struck down by a fever in late 2017 and decided to watch the anime, I had no idea the ways the fandom would influence me. So since @rinharumemories is a memory event, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to finally write a love letter to the fandom! 💙❤️

After my fever-inspired crash-course, Free! fell out of my head for a while, but Rin never did. The following year, I watched a cosplay tutorial for him on YouTube and decided to watch Take Your Marks. I saw The Bench Scene. Suddenly I had an OTP!

My first-ever rinharu friend, Rubi, encouraged me to write fic and kindly beta read for me! I was neck-deep in anxiety at the time because of another fandom and Free! was refreshing. My anxiety was so bad that she actually screened the comments on that first fic to make sure I could read them without spiraling.

I found more shippers & joined the Sakura Pool discord, where I would meet my dear SweetHeaven! Su & the other friends I made there helped shape @ficwip's early days as a hashtag game, and (along w/friends from SPN & VLD) were some of our discord's initial members.

When I was designing the ficwip discord, Aenya was kind enough to share tips for role-based channel permissions & let me pick her brain about modding a year-round space! Her advice was invaluable, an absolute lifesaver. 🙏🙏🙏

Around this time, through the original #ficwip game on Twitter, I met fellow writer @matsuoka-lin and we got to be friends. (During the pandemic, Lin would join the ficwip server and we would recognize our Aquarius bond ♒)

Late into 2018, I was still writing rinharu fic, and I also participated in Inktober, with a good number of the images being rinharu themed. It had been years since I’d drawn, but those two brought it out of me. Sadly, that December, the VLD finale hit during my very first @rinharuweek and launched me back into the VLD fandom for a couple of years. I never finished my RHW '18 entry. But I never forgot Free! or rinharu, and definitely not Rin, who was my profile pic more often than not.

Flash forward to 2021. Su won a fic giveaway & prompted me to write a rinharu amnesia fic. I worked on it across 11 months. That awoke my muses, and I ended up writing rinharu hanahaki for @ficwip's 5k!

Last August, I was days away from announcing a fandom-wide SPN event when I recalled my dream of a rinharu bang and mentioned it in passing to Lin. We talked for eight hours straight. By the end of the conversation, @thenightpool had been born.

We started TNP with the humble goal of five participants in our first event, a mermaid-themed fic & art fest. We had months to prepare! Then something happened with FS2 and we scrambled to launch a Halloween fest that we pulled off thanks to incredible contributors. They formed the foundation of the TNP discord, which is set up a lot like ficwip’s to be a year-round little creative community. We’ll actually be launching our own version of fw’s writing retreat weekends later this month!

The merfest, which got renamed Unleashed Blue, blew past our expectations — as did Sakurathon, a dormant event that we revived for a weekend in April. UB ended up with 52 entries; we’d hoped for maybe 15. Sakurathon was such a success that we rescheduled it immediately. Right now, we have a prompt meme running, and have events scheduled through 2024! 😅

In addition to @thenightpool, we’ve formed @iwatobievents to promote events across the Free! fandom. And we’re running events there too, for Nagisa and Soumako. Because what is sleep!!

So the TL;DR is that the rinharu fandom helped give @ficwip life, has inspired me as a writer and artist, led me to my best and dearest friends, and will make a big dream come true later this year: I’ll finally be running a rinharu bang! 💙❤️

And I still have a Rin Matsuoka icon.

finished an old sketchbook (which I didn't know was possible????) but anyways y'all get a doodle dump here enjoy (sorry some are sideways my phone is being big dumb)

very brief explanations under the cut

1- character design stuff for an apocalypse-ish character i made. his name is dev and I love him :) he likes maps and starting fights and he transed his gemder

2- random Fullmetal alchemist doodles. I truly believe alphonse would just.... pick people up. also winry has a trash sleep schedule.

3- a dnd character idea! snake cowboy bard names moke, he left home to try and save up for a ranch of his own and he's refusing to admit he's addicted to adventuring.

4- dnd doodles from a few sessions ago. there uh there were some events. I totally didn't jump into the ocean to avoid my party members pestering me for killing my ex-bestie who turned evil. and like I'm not saying she deserved it but she also was 100% down for killing a kid in cold blood and she got me exiled. oh and turning people into weird mind controlled spike monsters. that too.

5- I had this idea for a magical girl necromancer. she's super sweet and innocent but she also raises the dead. she probably has zombie helpers to carry her school books.

6- more session doodles. most the magnus archives honestly. there's a handful of tims (stoker and gunpowder variants) (I do think tma Tim and mechs Tim would be cool with each other. or maybe just instantly kill each other) and some of the distortion and some other random stuff. I really enjoy drawing the distortion. I think maybe the hair is really fun, or the fucked up hands.

7- most recent session doodles. mostly npcs, there's one family that has a near monopoly on the town were in, apparently the matriarch had a very active social life. and by that I mean the dwarf who runs the armory and the human who runs the tavern and the driver who runs the tailor shop are all siblings. also me and another party member have accidentally started a war for the driders heart. (IM GOING TO WIN) (FLORA CHOOSE ME PLEASE) is it weird my first experience with romance is a character played by me and a completely fictional npc

8- old design. I have this tattooed now

9- random woods character. I don't know if I ever figured out their name. basic idea is they were a very young immortal when the world ended so now centuries later they just wander through the woods that have reclaimed the planet. every so often these weird extra dimensional shepherd things stop by to check in. they actually stop by earth a lot more often than they used to now that they know this person is here, they were very surprised to find out humanity had been born and died within the span of two visits. bit of dialogue I thought up once: "so young one, are you the first of your kind?" "actually I think I'm the last."

10- old inktober drawing from like 2022 that I never actually finished. or was it 2021.... idk whatever the prompt was bouquet and kaz found inej some flowers. god I still really like this drawing actually. I should redraw it in such a way I'm not scared of ruining it by finishing it

She leaned back into her familiar’s deep, plush fur and breathed in his comforting smell. Buttery popcorn and a hint of cedar. Rumbling purrs reverberated through her slight frame. As she traced the stripes and dapples in his fur, her eyelids grew heavier and heavier, and she hardly took notice as she slipped into the realms of sleep.

Everyone thinks the Glasses Smurfs will love to talk together and be an insufferable trio; turns out 80s and comics can't stand each other, and 80s made a stupid comment about Smurfette so now 2021 is annoyed by him. Then 80s and comics find out 2021 actually has a group of friends, and they're too stunned to react.

Prankster Smurfs start as a trio of pranks terror, but as the days go on, comics realize he is somehow the more mature of the three and has to babysit before the other two go too far with their pranks (did I imagine a story where the trio starts making pranks that get meaner and meaner, and more and more dangerous, so at one point their pranks start getting thwarted by a masked smurf that 80s and 2021 name Killjoy Smurf, and now the trio is doing complex pranks to defeat him, but it goes too far and get almost everyone captured by Gargamel, but then Killjoy Smurf saves the day with the help of pranks, and it turns out it was comics Prankster all along trying to stop the other two Pranksters? yes. yes i did.)

The Vanity Smurfs are always complimenting each other, and do slumber parties and spa days all the time. The Smurfettes are sometimes invited.

The Strong Smurfs are all in a friendly rivalry, and they organize sport competitions only them and a few smurfs participate in. It became more interesting to watch them than compete, anyway.

The Great Smurfs are friendly and work together, but you can feel that sometimes they have tensions they smile through about how to best raise the smurfs.

At one point they talk about their Musician Smurfs, and comics have to concede defeat as 80s Musician can at least help Baby go to sleep, and 2021 Musician is actually a decent trumpet player.

I'm going to be posting my older Inktober drawings, seeing as my FNoN AU is now online so the pictures will (mostly) have context.

This was Day 17 of 2021: Nightmare Chica watching Mike Afton sleep. He invited her to his house "to see what his day is like," and she doesn't quite understand that humans are uncomfortable being stared at by robots (or anyone really) when they're trying to sleep.

This scene is from a currently unpublished chapter in the FNoN AU. The pose is referenced off of an episode of Star Trek TNG, wherein Data was watching Picard sleep (to the same effect).
