7. the dawn that rises bloody (modern randlemartin au)
“Well, then.” Johnny says, eyes dark and cheeks and lips flushed cherry red against the dull lamplight. “If rage is ugly, I must be the most hideous thing you've ever seen.”
Not even close, Bull thinks, but doesn't say. He doesn't voice very many things. Maybe even the opposite.
—
Bull paints in his freetime. Johnny’s just trying to survive getting his masters degree.
(from this. distract me from the world ending terrible thing that is Work)

Surrounded by Italy’s renowned painting traditions and mythology, painter @robertoferri_official is inspired by Caravaggio, Baroque art and representatives of academic painting like David, Angres, and Géricault. ‘Il Giocci delli Eleidi’ from 2010 magically showcases Roberto’s fantastic compositions and his delicate expression with light and contrast — #beautifulbizarre #robertoferri #painting #artist #caravaggio #inspiration #mythology #expression #figurativeart #art #contemporarypainting #newcontemporary #contemporaryart https://www.instagram.com/p/CpXmYH_o29f/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

sanguine semper ligamur // bound forever by blood
a commission for: @cantuscorvi & @nezumivc103221
[ID: A high contrast illustration inspired by Caravaggio where a blond man is lying on a wooden floor, surrounded by darkness. His mouth is covered in blood, his expression a mixture of worry and arousal. Another man with shoulder-length dark hair is straddling him at the waist. His left palm is bleeding and he is offering the cut to the blond man to drink, while simultaneously pinning him by the neck with the right arm.]

I should make an oil painting out of this old picture of mine.
Hell yeah! I'm gonna buy a big-ass canvas, and I'm gonna curse a lot :)
Also bonus pictures because they're cool

[OC] Sanctuary
Ludovic, locked up, imagining his saviour, Astolfo (courtesy of VenenumTea).
I based this on Caravaggio's The Inspiration of Saint Matthew (1602) - it has been very close to me for a long time by now, in a large part because of the E. S. Posthumus album Unearthed, which has this painting as the album cover, and which has certain songs that keep coming back to me.
The Italian poet Ludovico Ariosto writing the epic poem Orlando Furioso, with the character of the knight Astolfo in it gave me an idea, of Ludovic getting locked up in an asylum, and in his despair, in the image of one of the employees there, whose aura and strength made him scared but made him attracted to him, starting to imagine having someone save him and love him unconditionally, his own knight in shining armour ready to fight for him. Having been given a notebook and some crayons, he started to write their own story, laced with his own tears.

omg I literally GASPED at your Link as Narcissus art! It’s incredible and breathtaking and so fitting, thank you SO MUCH for sharing your lovely art ☺️
Thank you so much!! 🥹💕 I’m so glad you like it! As soon as I saw the Caravaggio piece I immediately thought of Link and Dark Link haha. The folds on his tunic sleeve took f o r e v e r but in the end I’m glad it came together nicely!
But for real I wouldn’t have painted it if not for the Atelier Hylia Blood Moon Tomes zine! It’s free to download and there’s a lot of amazing spooky art by my favorite artists! Check it out when you can!

So back story:
I had this really cool thought about paintings and media in the FE3H universe and what not. In our world, christian religious painting generally have that halo around saints, angels, jesus, etc, and I thought it would be interesting that a similar phenomenon would happen but it would be the user's crest! So when painters would create large scenes, they could paint the user's crest behind their head to be like "THIS IS KING DIMITRI" or "THIS IS LORENZ" and so on and so forth... It's a bit messy since you can't *really* see the crest, so maybe they'd have it above their heads but meh, I wanted it behind Dimitri's head soooo
