Hyundai Ioniq 6, 2023. Hyundai Motor Company has revealed the second model in its IONIQ dedicated all-electric-vehicle brand. Inspired by their Prophecy EV Concept the new electric saloon retains that car’s streamlined aesthetics with a drag coefficient of just 0.21. Hyundai released the Ioniq 6 and with it came the huge support of the car community. Of course there are some people who don’t like the design saying that its too “Porsche-esque” and that the tail of the car does not reflect wha the car stands for. This fully battery blooded beast has given people what they want though. A very well made machine with the comforts of seating 5 and the luggage space to make it practical in everyday use. The Ioniq 6 is remarkable with its fast charging times based around 6.1 to 7.5 hours which allows lots of people to be comfortable with doing a nice afternoon or overnight charge to get themselves ready for the following day, likewise with the battery capacity which allows for up to a wonderful estimated 361 miles of range which bests even the likes of the Tesla model 3.

The interior of the Ioniq 6 offers a nice minimalistic feel as well as staying in the same style of the Ioniq 5 with a nice luxurious bright leather and plastic upholstery. These can be easily changed with Hyundais integrated lighting system that allows for the change in the RGB lighting system in the door cards that can set a nice mood when driving during the day or even at night to help reduce eye strain from the Jeep wrangler with a rally light bar on his grill behind you.

The exterior design is there the Ioniq 6 starts to become controversial. People say that the rear design might prove to be troublesome for the future design on Hyundais electric vehicles. For me I really enjoy the rear of the 6, to me it looks like wing sort of looks like the back of the 997 GT3 RS with the pleated rear lights going into the wing. It gives the car the sport luxury design that it deserves to make it an eye turner in the electric car world instead of the egg shape that most electric cars are going towards.

Apparently, BTS wrote an Ioniq song.
Given that apparently I made my purchasing decisions based on whether or not it is BTS affiliated (as I did with my air purifiers), I guess I'll have to get an ioniq the next time I am looking to get a car.
For those living under a rock (yet somehow manages to use tumblr and find their way to this post):
BTS is a K-pop group also known as BangTan Sonyeondan (literally means something like Wayward Sons).
Ioniq is an electric car from Hyundai, which is a Korean (same Korea as the one BTS is from) car maker.

Hyundai RN22e
RN22e offers racetrack-ready performance by refining and optimizing Hyundai’s market-leading E-GMP and packaging it in an IONIQ 6-based streamliner design. As Hyundai N’s first rolling lab based on E-GMP, RN22e shows the electrified N brand’s vision and direction while opening the possibility of a high-performance EV model in the future. The concept received its name because it is the rolling lab of N brand developed in 2022 with EV performance.
RN22e is tested to maximize N’s three performance pillars, starting with ‘corner rascal.’ N has been developing cornering capability since the brand launch and has been providing e-LSD, Corner Carving Differential, for most N models. RN22e elevates the corner carving feel with inevitably heavier weight, by exploring torque vectoring by twin clutch. Moreover, the 3D printed parts reduce weight and keep the rigidity for better corner attack. Equipped with AWD, RN22e provides optimized torque distribution according to different drive modes that allows drivers to choose the torque power on the front and rear wheels.
To enhance RN22e’s racetrack capability, N focused on cooling and braking to enhance endurance. RN22e provides track-optimized settings to let customers enjoy the circuit without derating. Having four piston monoblock calipers and a 400-mm hybrid disc allows RN22e to withstand the weight of its power electric (PE) system. In addition, Hyundai N will use RN22e to study how to deliver dynamic movement with regen-braking that precisely controls yaw and corner attack.
As Hyundai N develops and verifies state-of-the-art technologies for transfer to N production models, RN22e plays an important role as the rolling lab for upcoming EV N models. Knowing what exhilarates enthusiasts, N is developing new features, such as the emotional driving experience for electrified models. RN22e provides N Sound+, which generates sound from the interior and exterior speakers, for a dynamic driving feel. In addition, N e-shift integrates the vibration and shifting feel with N Sound+. As it is a rolling lab, where Hyundai N continuously develops advanced technologies, these emotional driving experiences will be further developed in various types via RN22e, so that drivers can select their own fun.
By adapting IONIQ 6’s streamliner design, RN22e will leverage the new EV’s aerodynamic features. In order to maximize the performance, Hyundai N has added motorsports-inspired details. Through low ground clearance and emphasized shoulders, Hyundai N achieved a design with a wide and sturdy stance. While maintaining IONIQ 6’s design, the lower bumper has been designed to be sporty, radiating an unexpected charm. With these functional aesthetics, RN22e could improve its cooling and aerodynamics.
Measuring 4,915 mm long, 2,023 mm wide and 1,479 mm tall on a 2,950 mm wheelbase, RN22e will continue to develop with motorsports expertise, so Hyundai can hone and perfect its advanced technologies to launch a mass-production electric N model utilizing the potential of E-GMP.
This ‘rolling lab’ concepts demonstrate Hyundai Motor’s ambition to become a leader in the zero-emissions future. Hyundai Motor’s ‘rolling labs’ are where it tests and verifies the company’s advanced technologies to apply them to future production models. RN22e melds the all-new IONIQ 6 and the company’s Electric-Global Modular Platform (E‑GMP), while setting a new standard in high-performance EVs.

By using a series of gears located inside the wheel, the power of even a small engine is transferred to the wheel with enough torque to move the vehicle. Individual activation of each wheel has benefits in terms of driving performance and safety. Thanks to the design of the gears, they can move inside the hub while transmitting power. As a result, the connection between the wheel and the engine can slide up and down freely, so the wheel does not require a CV joint. This means that the efficiency losses associated with operating such a connection at an angle are eliminated, improving power delivery. The History & Story
I wrote up the reason behind buying this car in another blog post. The short of it is that I wanted to be able to test more of the Electrify America chargers that were coming online faster than I could do it with my Energica Eva motorcycle. This is the second third brand new car I’d ever bought in my life, and before taxes I financed less than $30,000 out the door and after tax credit the car cost me less than $22,000. The era of affordable electrics is upon us!

Fast forward to September 2020. I needed a vehicle more capable of towing (even after adding a hitch to this car). The Hyundai was sold a few days after I traded it in and was living in the Concord area until November, when the new owner rear ended somebody in traffic and totaled the car. I got a text message from the Hyundai connected services, which hadn’t been turned off yet because the title transfer hadn’t happened, that the vehicle had been in a collision. I ran a carfax report on the car in 2022 and found that after selling at auction for $23,000 it was exported to Lithuania. This car was enrolled in the Recurrent Battery Study and last reported a battery reading March of 2021.
