Katsuki’s favorite memory with his dad is listening to music together and being shown his dad’s favorite songs from when he was younger.
Like, it only happened once, only lasted an hour or two, but now that life got in the way and distance grew and self-awareness started setting in, Katsuki looks back and realizes that somehow that memory has never been tainted.
It might’ve been a school night, probably was a school night. Masaru was helping him out with his preschool math homework and next thing he knows, Katsuki is sitting on his father’s lap as he reminisces, humming nonsense under his breath until his brain recalls the lyrics, looking them up and singing along, swaying to the song in a dark room brightened with blue light.
Katsuki, never hearing these songs in his life, tried to sing with Masaru, asking to play each song again and again until some of the words stuck.
Towards the end, they take a break, going to the kitchen to get juice for Masaru and warm milk for Katsuki. As his father prepares his drink, Katsuki tries to remember the name of the song he often hears on the radio. The one that makes his dad’s finger tap the steering wheel after turning up the volume, the one that Katsuki shouts out more than he sings to.
He can’t remember and quickly forgets once Masaru tells him he has one more song to show him — making a noncommittal hum when Katsuki asks if they can play songs the next day, too — the one that became Katsuki’s favorite instead after he heard it on the radio later that month.
For a long while after that, Katsuki asks Masaru to switch from their regular station to the one that played his new favorite song, disappointed every time when he doesn’t hear it another time.
Eventually, he stops asking.

I think we need to get more comfortable with the idea that sometimes shitty, racist, homophobic, bigoted people are still incredibly talented.
I feel like every time I see a post addressing someone’s shitty behavior the post also takes the time to mention that they’re not even good at [x] anyway. And that’s just not always true? Equating being good at a skill as being morally good is just not necessary. Someone can be a fantastic writer, can have a beautiful singing voice, can create breathtaking artwork, and still be a horrible person.
I know part of this is probably just the instinct to dislike everything about a person when you dislike them, but I also think this mindset leads to people defending creatives way past where they should, because if bad people create bad art, then if this person creates art that I like and resonates with me, then they can’t be a bad person!
And you know. That’s just not true. Those two things are simply completely unconnected and I think it’d be healthier if we all started disconnecting them in our heads.

even if you're not a supernatural fan, if you've been on tumblr long enough you are, like, culturally. like cultural christianity in america except it's the cw's supernatural. you may never have watched an episode or set foot inside the tag but your regular life shuts down on their holidays and all of your world news is delivered through that point of view. something to think about

I like to think that Vulcans who come to understand that Humans just can’t try to process emotions the same way as them, it’s just healthiest to let it out in harmless ways, decide that venting and stuff should be taken just as seriously as Vulcan’s meditation time, and will encourage the Humans around them to complain about what’s upsetting them
People who are used to aloof Vulcans who avoid Humans at all cost running into one comforting a Human
“-and then they said my cheesecake was subpar, and they didn’t even bring a dish!!!”
“The purpose of this event was that every participant brings a food item of sorts, correct?”
“Yeah!!”
“And they did not follow this rule while insulting dishes that were brought?”
“Mostly just my dish but yeah >:(“
“How illogical”
“That’s what I’m saying!!!”

my brother and I don't say "mcdonalds" when referring to the fast food chain. we've always said "mcnaldo's", then it became "naldo's". now it's simply "nald". and we always refer to it as a single unit. like "do you want a nald?"
