#It's has good representation
in all honesty the biggest reason i love the hotdaga is not cause its funny how much it annoys ryan but because there are some lines like “its still a witch heart dingbat” and “the master grows by about 25% and his eyes get more evil, signifying him becoming.. more evil” its genuinely fucking hilarious and im so glad we stan a comedic gENIUS

New Luca Trailer
New adorable images of Luca and Alberto, they are so cute together.
Man I hope they are a couple by the end, so cute. I've said it once and I'll say it again, this movie looks breathtaking. At this point I don’t care what China, Conservatives, or what you think, Disney has gone to long without good LGBT+ representation, its been over 50 years since the jungle book gave us the first non-white protagonist, its time for the first LGBT protagonist in a Disney film. And look how cute Luca and Alberto are. The movie is described as a coming of age story and about them experiencing an unforgettable summer. I am not saying make the whole movie about there relationship, no they are just 13 year old young boys, make it about there awesome summer adventure, but it would be nice if they fell in love along the way.
Either way it looks like it’ll be a good Disney movie.

emori did not break up with murphy because he was depressed.
she broke up with him because he didn’t know how to love her when she didn’t need him, was jealous if she spent time with people that weren’t him, isolated himself and refused help not only from her but from his own friends, consistently claimed she was intentionally hurting him, lashed out at her when she tried to help, didn’t own up to any of those problems and instead blamed them on her mistreating him, and blamed her for not considering his own needs when time after time she pushed hers down to help him.
if you say that she broke up with him because of his depression, i hope you know that you’re assigning all those ^^^ behaviors to people struggling with depression, which is the opposite of mental health awareness/advocacy

Lots of subtle homophobia in the Luca tag. You guys know you can be homophobic without being violent/saying slurs right

Loki: For one thing, I'm not Asgardian...
Thanos: wait then what are you doing travelling with Asgard
Loki: I'm hanging around because I wanted to
Thanos: wait how can you be a Prince of Asgard but not be Asgardian?!
Loki, sweating: ahaha, moving on... we have a hulk...
Thanos: I will not be 'moving on' until I get some answers
Loki: [spends the next 6 hours explaining how exactly he feels about being Asgardian but not Aesir and why those reasons prevented him from leaving alone with the tesseract, which distracts Thanos so the avengers can turn up and deal with him]

New Luca Trailer
I just watched the new Luca Trailer and it is breathtaking, but one thing is on my my mind after watching it and if you read my blog you will know what. This person sums it up perfectly:
At this point I don’t care what China, Conservatives, or what you think, disney has gone to long without good LGBT representation, its been thirty years since Aladdin gave us the first non-white protagonist, its time for the first LGBT protagonist in a Disney film. And look how cute Luca and Alberto are.
The movie is described as a coming of age story and about them experiencing an unforgettable summer. I am not saying make the whole movie about there relationship, no they are just boys make it about there awesome adventure, but it would be nice if they fell in love along the way.
Either way it looks like it’ll be a good Disney movie.

See this hc of Tim being half Japanese is well thought out and has wonderful implications for Tim’s character and upbringing and everything, but every time I see it in fandom, it’s always fetishizing Asian culture in only the way Americans like it and only the parts Americans think is good, and that’s why I fucking hate it. But kudos to you for not doing that. (~thirsty nightwing anon)
yeah i totally get what you mean, and i also understand people when they say ‘hey making [character] poc is racist actually’ because when it’s done wrong it can be stereotyping, and fetishising and have no real understanding of the culture it’s trying to represent.
but when it's done right, often by people who are members of the culture themselves, or close to it, it is an amazing read and it can be really nice for people to see themselves represented in their favourite media.
if you're writing anything you don't know that much about, don't. take a moment, read the wikipedia page, read articles written by experts, talk to people who know about the topic, do your research.

Netflix just came out with a Austen-esque period drama TV show called Bridgerton that is based on a novel series and I HIGHLY recommend it.
It’s a Shondaland production and it has a racially diverse cast and strong female leads. The dialog is hilarious and snappy and the characters are complex and compelling - also the plot twists are so satisfying and it has all the good tropes including fake relationship, mutual pining, a Mr Darcy-like love interest, and feminist commentary / exploration of gender norms AND it’s got this Gossip Girl thing going with a mysterious female writer who comments on high society scandals but it’s just so much better. and it has this in-universe explanation for the racial diversity in the show that is super intriguing. ALSO THE COSTUMES!! THE COSTUMES!!!!! <333 and everyone is super hot
I literally binge-watched this in one day (it came out yesterday) and i can’t recommend this enough please watch it! (I will say trigger warning for consent stuff - one part involving a creeper who gets punched out & another involving a major female character disregarding her love interest’s boundaries - also the sex scenes are frequent and explicit but it’s filmed in a really female-oriented way) anyway if you like romance, and you like jane austen and you are hungry for more diverse period dramas, this is it

people on this damn site who have never once looked into Japanese lgbt issues and lgbt representation in Japan: UM ACTUALLY???? THIS ANIME IS POSITIVE REPRESENTATION IN JAPAN AND IS PROBABLY DOING A LOT FOR PEOPLE IN ASIA??? THIS PAIRING IN THE ANIME KISSED SO THAT’S THE EQUIVALENT OF REPRESENTATION!!!! AND ALSO!!!!! ASIA AND JAPAN ARE MORE CONSERVATIVE THAN THE WEST SO THEY CAN’T SAY THAT THEY’RE CANON BUT THEY ARE!!!!!

So I’m debating watching She-Ra but I’ve always been hesitant to watch anything that can possibly have queer content because I don’t like being baited so I usually wait until something is officially canon. Do you watch She-Ra? If so, do you think there could be some lgbtq+ content in its future? (or that’s already there?) I just don’t want to watch something and then not have any lgbtq content because I’ll get disappointed :((
Hey there!! I totally get your wariness, it’s something that I was a bit worried about at first too. But I’m almost done with the season and I LOVE it so far! Here are some reasons why you should consider watching the show:
1. Even if catradora (the main ship on the show) doesn’t become explicitly canon, the subtext is all there. I’ve been saying this to a lot of people, but their relationship really doesn’t feel like queerbaiting–it feels more like queercoding, in that it’s not hard to read into their relationship as being a romantic one even if it’s never made explicit. I mean, just look at this gif and tell me that there isn’t at least some sapphic vibes going on here:
2. There has been some subtle LGBTQ+ representation so far! A character was spotted in the background of one episode wearing a dress that bears an uncanny resemblance to the lesbian pride flag, and it’s heavily implied that these two characters are together:
3. I have faith in the showrunner. Noelle Stevenson is part of the community herself, and even if Dreamworks limits how much explicit LGBTQ+ rep is allowed in the show, if any at all, I trust that she has good intentions for the show and its representation. Plus, catradora is quickly gaining popularity, jumping to the number one spot on this week’s ship list. I’m not saying that Dreamworks should pander to the fans, but listening to your audience is very important, and if the audience is expressing how much they like the ship, then that’s something they should definitely take note of for future content. But also…
4. A ship doesn’t have to be canon in order to enjoy it or the media that the ship is originally from. This series is so much fun to watch for a variety of reasons, including female empowerment, diverse and interesting character designs, a gorgeous art style, intriguing storytelling, and so much more! And it seems like the fandom here is booming already, so you’ll have plenty of company if you decide to give it a go.
That’s all for now, I hope this was a helpful response!

1. Sasha Pieterse was 12, and Shay Mitchell was 21 when they start shooting PLL.
2. Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher's Sweetest Moments Together on That '70s Show. The pair first met on the set of That '70s Show in 1998, when a 14-year-old Kunis was cast alongside 20-year-old Kutcher.
3. Peyton Kennedy was 13 and Sydney was 19 when they shot everything sucks
Please lets not talk about morality in this essence because morality is very complex. We can say that its moral because they followed the rules or no rule was broken. No one was forced and everyone gave their consent. We’re going to argue all day if we’re going to talk about morality. But they obeyed the rules. If you’re going to say that they made her “masturbate,” tell me when. Tell me when because it literally did not happen. And please, who didn’t get horny when they were 13/14. Its fucking real representation. Its true to life. Second of all, it happens all the fucking time. Freshmen’s fall in love with juniors or seniors (in the show, emaline said that she still has a year left). Its not new. Its a good representation. Also, if you’re going to say that she bullied her and blah blah then you probably didn’t watch the whole show. Its called a character arc. If you want to talk about real life then look at Sydney and Peyton’s pictures and twitter, Sydney treats Peyton as her sister. Lastly, they’re not showing a 13 year old falling in love with a 20 year old. Please keep this in mind that this is not real life so shut up.
I guess my not so main point is, “are they hurting anyone?”
In my opinion, they are brave enough to give us a good representation. If this issue about age gets big to the point that they are going to cancel it or won’t make a season 2 then who’s hurting other people? The LGBTQ+ people in high school who are in the closet wouldn’t have this representation. And for them to say to themselves that its okay to be who they are will be gone.
PS. So u do u and watch the show if u want, and if u have a problem with it then dont watch it.
PPS. Pedophile in the dictionary means a person who is sexually attracted to children. Is Sydney irl attracted to fucking children? No. But was ashton attracted to mila irl? Yes. And just saying sydney and peyton are in their “teens” which for me is the same bracket.
PPPS. And for u going around and accusing of sydney being a fcking pedo for only doing a job she was hired is more fucked up. She was a 19 year old cast for a 17 yr old role. U think she would pass that. She’s only starting her career. Ure basically ruining someone’s life. If u have a problem with the age go talk to the casting director and dont blame the actress who probably didn’t even know who was cast before they accepted the job. And if u call her pedo again, remember that she can sue u for libel.

RQOTD: Has any of your characters that haven’t had their gender identity mentioned/told, dabbled in different pronouns/gender expression and identity?
For example: Has Asa tried they/them pronouns during his time as a teen or has he always felt comfy with he-him pronouns, etc etc
[i hope i worded this well and it isnt coming off disrespectful]
oh this is an interesting question!! now that i think about it, it would make sense if asa went through a questioning period before sticking with he/him, because 1. he's never been afraid to experiment with his presentation / appearance in general, 2. he was growing up alongside stevie, who would be the perfect, willing sounding board, and 3. he knows his family is great and supportive no matter what, so there would be no risk involved in trying things out. so i could definitely see that!! and honestly if a stranger saw asa in his typical gnc clothes and used they/them pronouns for him, he would probably think that's pretty cool and considerate of them (as long as they're not doing it maliciously ofc; i know some people say they/them even when they know the person's correct pronouns, but that's not what i mean here). thanks for the question, i hadn't really thought about it before! 💖

nobody talk to me im crying over lumity
I genuinly did not expect them to progress this quickly, I think mostly because every wlw relationship in cartoons that I’ve seen so far have typically taken awhile to develop if they get the chance to at all. From the blatent censorship of korrasami to Luz and Amity actively crushing on each other on screen? Im just.. amazed. Not to mention that overall this episode was fantastically done, while I was very excited for Luz and Amity, I was also hella interested in Gus’ part of the story. They really put their heart and soul into this episode.
