Families of Palestinian prisoners prohibited from celebrating release of loved ones
Al Jazeera’s Hamdah Salhut, reporting from occupied East Jerusalem, said Israel’s ultra-nationalist National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has strictly enforced a policy of preventing celebrations by the families of Palestinians freed from Israeli jails under the Gaza truce deal.
“While families do want to celebrate their release, a lot of them are afraid, saying the Israelis have threatened them,” Salhut said.
Freed prisoners are also subject to strict limitations after their release.
“There are a lot of limitations as to what they can and cannot do. They cannot be involved in any political activity. They cannot have political posts on social media. They cannot go to any protests. A lot of them are still living in fear because of these heavy restrictions placed on them by the Israeli security apparatus. They fear they are going to be arrested again,” Salhut said.
The contrast with huge celebrations in Israel around the release of Israeli captives from Gaza could not be more stark, Salhut added.
“The Israelis not limiting any celebrations there. But when it comes to the Palestinians … [Israel] says that given the nature of this deal, given the nature of who they are releasing, that it does not warrant any celebrations.”

In Brazil, a Best-Selling Novel Confronts the Brutal Afterlife of Slavery
Crooked Plow made Itamar Vieira Junior an essential voice in Brazilian letters.
Tumblr media
On May 13, 1888, Princess Isabel of Bragança, the heir presumptive to the Brazilian throne, signed a “Golden Law” that freed 700,000 people from slavery in Brazil. The country, which had declared independence from Portugal 66 years earlier, had received close to half of all enslaved Africans brought to the New World by European colonizers. Isabel’s formal declaration of abolition came decades after the precedents set by countries such as Great Britain, which outlawed slavery in 1807; facing pressure in the form of port attacks and slave ship seizures by British forces, Brazil’s parliament passed an 1871 law that freed all children born to enslaved parents (though not guaranteed before they reached the age of 21). But this blanket implementation, and even Isabel’s later decree, did little in the way of truly liberating those upon whose bodies the country’s economy had been built. By the dawn of the 19th century, Portuguese colonizers had shaped Brazil via the vast and often violent industries of coffee and gold in the South and sugar in the Northeast. To maintain this infrastructure, landowners conspired to keep enslaved men and women—most of them from West Africa—unfree. After abolition was implemented, the formerly enslaved were still at the mercy of landowners who would grant them permission to live on their property in exchange for free labor, leaving them indebted to their former employers and without much more freedom than what they’d had before.
First published in Brazil in 2018, and recently translated into English by Johnny Lorenz, Itamar Vieira Junior’s Crooked Plow takes place during the transitional years when freed slaves and their descendants sowed and harvested land that they were prevented from owning. Set in the hinterlands of Bahia’s Chapada Diamantina region in the early 20th century, the novel follows three generations of a family caught between the pull to remain in a familiar system of servitude in exchange for stability, and the post-abolition push toward claiming the land they knew—and loved—better than their former masters.
The book’s success in Brazil exemplifies a trend in the country’s literary landscape toward novels told from the perspective of the historically oppressed. In the past five years, Vieira Junior has been an integral member of a group of Brazilian writers who, in depicting racism and slavery through the viewpoint of racial minorities and enslaved peoples, remind us of Brazil’s painful colonial history while returning agency to those who suffered under its one-sided narration. In the wake of the Bolsonaro presidency, which sanctioned the intrusion on Indigenous territories and denied the prevalence of racism in the country, Viera Junior and his cohort’s mission has been particularly remarkable; by reimagining Brazil’s past, these writers are committing themselves to reimagining what Brazil can become.

I need everyone to be talking about the Palestinians that the zionists are holding hostage in their prisons. We need to stay on it so the zionists know we're watching them. Also this:
-
The zionist entity- who was forced to concede to the resistance’s terms- is attempting to suppress signs of joy and victory of the families of the prisoners who will be liberated tonight.
Occupation forces raided the home of the prisoner Amani Hashem in Beit Hanina, Al-Quds. Zionist police stole sweets from her home, in light of the occupation's ban on any celebratory or national manifestations for receiving the freed prisoners as part of the resistance deal.
Since this morning, the occupation has summoned members of the families of prisoners from Al-Quds to the "Moscovia" interrogation rooms. Their phones were confiscated, and they are still being detained. Additionally, the occupation raided the home of prisoners Marah Bakir and Zaina Abdou. Her family was informed not to conduct any media interviews. The occupation also threatened the family of the prisoner Fatima Shaheen in Bethlehem.
Occupation Minister "Itamar Ben-Gvir" instructed the occupation police to prevent expressions of joy by covering all buses carrying the freed female prisoners as part of the resistance deal to prevent the capture of "victory photos."

Jamil Tamimi stabbed 20-year-old Hannah Bladon
The clash came after reports that a mentally ill Arab who killed a British student was in line to receive a “salary” from the Palestine Authority – which receives £25million a year from Britain.
Money is donated on the understanding it is used to finance health and education.
But outraged critics said it allows budgets to be freed up, enabling Palestinians to continue their decades-long practice of supporting terrorists and their families.
It was claimed yesterday that Jamil Tamimi, who stabbed 20-year-old Hannah Bladon in a Good Friday atrocity in Jerusalem, could pocket around £800 a month as a reward for being a “hero who resisted the occupation”.
The Palestinian Authority is receiving £25million in foreign aid at the same time as it is paying the families of terrorists like Tamimi who murdered Hannah Bladon in cold blood
Lord Polak
The scandal reignited debate over the scale and scope of Britain’s eye-watering foreign-aid commitment which last year totalled £13.3billion.
Lord Polak, president of Conservative Friends of Israel, said: “The Palestinian Authority is receiving £25million in foreign aid at the same time as it is paying the families of terrorists like Tamimi who murdered Hannah Bladon in cold blood.
“I would ask the Government what extensive precautions are in place to show taxpayers’ money does not support terror groups, organisations or individuals?”
Itamar Marcus, of Israeli monitoring group Palestinian Media Watch, said: “The fact the Palestinian state pays people who have stabbed civilians, shot children or made bombs is a statement of support.

It was claimed that Tamimi could pocket around £800 a month as a reward
“Every single murderer receives a salary and when they are in jail they are called heroes in gloating official news reports.
“It is mind-boggling that they are rewarded financially but the Palestinian Authority could not pay these salaries without the British Government giving £25million a year. Without foreign aid, they couldn’t afford it.”
Ukip leader Paul Nuttall said: “How many more examples do we need to demonstrate that hard-working British taxpayers’ money is being disgracefully wasted abroad? Madness is almost an understatement.
“It is all very well the Department for International Development saying it is only used to support essential health and education services for the Palestinians but it just means that overall they have more money to spend – including paying cold-blooded killers. Instead of handing billions every day in foreign aid, that figure should be slashed and cash spent on our ailing NHS.”

Israeli security forces take security measures as health team workers treat the wounded British tourist after he was attacked with a knife at a tramway in Jerusalem on April 14, 2017
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s spokesman said that not only did Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas not condemn Hannah’s murder “but he’ll reward the Palestinian attacker with a monthly salary”.
Tamimi, 57, ran amok with a kitchen knife on a tram, killing Hannah, an exchange student from Birmingham University who was on a study programme at Hebrew University.
He told police it was a suicide attack, hoping a soldier in the carriage would in turn kill him.
An Israeli court ruled that Tamimi, who was on his way from a mental hospital, was fit to stand trial and should be treated as a terrorist.

GETTY
Paul Nuttall said madness was almost an understatement
Last week Theresa May promised to continue meeting the United Nations benchmark of spending 0.7 per cent of national income on foreign aid, angering millions of voters.
The Department for International Development said: “Britain’s financial support is only used to provide essential health and education services to Palestinians as part of our efforts to help to deliver peace and the two-state solution.
“We have extensive precautions in place to ensure that UK money does not support terror groups or organisations.”

Shalom.
Last week's parsha is at the end. Sorry for sending you the Spanish version.
The thought from my book 'Healing Anger' is:
"Angry parents destroy the self-esteem of their children. Many studies demonstrate that children of verbally aggressive parents are four times more likely to have issues such as delinquency, depression, mental illness, and even bulimia, than those whose parents who don’t use verbal aggression."

MATOT/MASEI-His Justice is Perfect This parsha tells us that if a person kills someone unintentionally is required to flee to a ir miklat (city of refuge) and  remain there until the death of the Kohen Gadol. If he leaves the ir miklat, a relative of the victim can avenge the death by killing the murderer. The pasuk says[1] ..."he shall dwell in it until the death of the Kohen Gadol whom he had anointed with the sacred oil.”
Who is “he”? Contextually, “he” in the pasuk apparently is referring to the killer. Did the killer anoint the Kohen Gadol?
The Gemara explains that the pasuk was worded this way to teach an halacha: Not every killer was entitle of refuge. The Beit din was required to judge whether or not the killer was a candidate to live in the arei miklat.
We may ask: What would happen if the killing occurred while the Kohen Gadol was alive, but the Beit Din decided the case after that Kohen Gadol died and another Kohen Gadol was anointed? Does the killer go free immediately? The Gemara[2] answers that the killer does not go free until the demise of the second Kohen Gadol.
This is implicit in the pasuk we are discussing. It is referring to the Beit Din sending a person whom they deemed worthy of refuge to the arei miklat. When does he go free? Upon the death of the Kohen Gadol “asher mashach oto”, i.e., the Kohen Gadol who was anointed at the time that the Beit Din determined the killer worthy of refuge, not the one who was serving when the actual killing took place.
Rav Meir Simcha of Dvinsk (Meshech Chochma), elaborates on this point. The Torah justice differs significantly from all legal systems. They attempt to go into the mind of the criminal to determine why he committed the crime. Was he abused or suffered discrimination that caused him to commit the crime? Maybe he was not fully coherent when he committed the crime? Every year thousands of criminals are freed because the jury or judge trying their case felt that they were able to evaluate the motives of the criminal and based on their evaluation, or by a psychologist, the criminal should not be punished for his crime. In the Torah justice system, the dayanim (judges) are required to rule cases based on objective and calculated examination of the evidence, with no leniency for what they might consider to be extenuating circumstances. We have no way of determining people’s motives.
In cases of unintentional manslaughter, there were specific parameters by which Beit Din was required to send a person to an ir miklat. For how long? Beit Din did not set the killer’s sentence. He must stay there until the death of the Kohen Gadol. Modern justice systems set standard sentences, depending on the perceived motive of the crime and the level of recklessness of the killer. That seems very logical. Is the Torah system fair? Is it fair to punish killers equally no matter what their motives were?
The Meshech Chochma says that the Torah system is the fairest system because it is Divine. A person remains in the ir miklat for the precise amount of time that it takes for him to atone for his actions. Hashem evaluates the motives of each killer sent to the arei miklat and determines the term of the Kohen Gadol based on how long each killer is supposed to remain there. [Also in His infinite wisdom G-d evaluates how long the Kohen Gadol deserves to live].
For instance, Shimon inadvertently kills someone and based on the level of his negligence and other extenuating conditions, he should be in the ir miklat for 20 years. Now, if five years before the killing, two candidates were being considered for Kohen Gadol, one of whom is destined to live another 10 years and one of whom is destined to live for 25, Hashem will arrange for the Kohen destined to live for 25 years to be anointed, to ensure that Shimon serves out his sentence.
Even in a case when someone should only have to take refuge for 5 days, Hashem will make sure that the Kohen Gadol serving in those days is one who was meant to die 5 days after the killer walked into the ir miklat.
This is why the pasuk states, “asher mashach oto”. Since Hashem chooses the Kohen Gadol based on the terms of penance needed by the various killers in the arei miklat, it is as if the killers anoint the Kohen Gadol of their generation!
Considering the number of people in the arei miklat at any given time, the combinations and permutations necessary to determine who should be the Kohen Gadol are obviously beyond the scope of human calculation. G-d, however, is a Keil emunah ve’ein avel, a G-d of faith without iniquity [3]. Hashem will not allow a person who is only supposed to serve a five-day sentence to remain in the ir miklat for six days and He will not allow a person who requires 20 years of penance to leave one day earlier.
We view the world through human logic, and explain everything we see based on our understanding of the circumstances.
If we heard that an 80-year-old Kohen Gadol died, we would understand his death. Human logic dictates that old people die. But if a 40-year-old Kohen Gadol dies suddenly, we would wonder why he died. We would ask, “Was there a family history of heart disease or cancer? Did he smoke?”
The Meshech Chochma teaches us something amazing. What we view as causation is not it. The Kohen Gadol’s death was not determined on old age, heart disease, or any other illness. It was based by the need of the killers in the arei miklat to go free.
The same concept applies to all other events in life. What we consider to be the reasons for our health, wealth, success, or lack thereof, are usually not the real reasons. Causation is very confusing. Only Hashem, the G-d of faith without iniquity, with His Divine supervision knows the true reasons for the events in our lives. ___________________________________________ [1] Bemidbar 35:25 [2] Makkot 11b.
