So what if Ander had kept a journal when he first got to the place. And what if it were in the library. And Joy had found it, and read it. It has no mention of him being Sahota, but it does have “Ander” written at the front. What if Joy came up to Sahota and asked “Who is Ander?” What then?

as the resident Brooding Guy he'd probably answer with "Ander is dead."

...which isn't entirely a lie, symbolically speaking. He'd try to redirect further questions, but if she pushed him enough, he might give some more vague details that only make Joy more curious.

She might theorize with the rest of the crew, and talk about the possibility of a third teammate who was mysteriously killed, probably by Vic, possibly on purpose. Of course this would drive everyone up the wall if they ever found out that Ander is Sahota.

Both! It's there because its cool for sure, but its purpose is to hide his face, specifically the massive scar on it that cant heal because his job makes it really obvious that he heals fast (he's constantly got healing wounds and scrapes), so the fact he has a really gnarly scar like that gives him away as a leviathan to anyone with a hint of knowledge about them.

He also feels really uncomfortable around people without it, so you will never see him in public with it off. It's always closed and locked like a muzzle (in fact, if he reaches for it with intent to unlock it, it would be very much a threat)

Close friends get to see his face, but he will absolutely keep the frame of the mask like in these pics:

Mask off is basically reserved for if he's alone with no one around to see. And eventually Hades gets rights to see him like that too, but that's it

It's really symbolic in that way too like it is literally a mask that hides his face (his self) and he is someone who hides his true nature 24/7, and he's really closed off on top of that so he only lets his close ones in.

And its something fun to play with too because that way in drawings of him u can tell if theyre in public or chillin elsewhere etc etc

you mean the goofy little sketches i do from time to time? if so, that's really kind of you to say!!! that said, i wouldn't necessarily say they're the peak of my drawing abilities though, since i just draw with a mouse.

i use to draw a lot when i was growing up, though after getting Gmod for the first time, and subsequently SFM, i moved over into those programs to make my art, and kinda stopped drawing from that point.

i don't normally draw a whole lot these days, but when it comes to how i draw the stuff above, really i just find the messiness of using a mouse to draw really goofy, that and it's kinda nice to draw stuff without it needing to be perfect. it's just silly lines.
