Hello fans of Re: Dracula who were introduced to fiction podcasts through the updates from our good friend Jonathan Harker! Now that the story's over (sob!), would you like some recommendations for some other audio dramas that you might enjoy, made by some of the folks who worked on the podcast?
Jonathan Sims, who played our local phonograph enthusiast, is the writer of the hugely popular horror podcast, The Magnus Archives. The Head Archivist of the Magnus Institute records statements made by members of the public, detailing strange encounters with the supernatural. What soon becomes clear is that these statements do not describe separate and unrelated events, and a bigger and horrific picture begins to emerge. Also appearing as recurring characters in this series are both Sasha Sienna and Alasdair Stuart.
Karim Kronfli is a prolific voice actor, and while he might be best known for his roles in both Re: Dracula and The Magnus Archives, he has voiced a wide range of characters in many different fiction podcasts. Out of all the ones he's appeared in, I would personally recommend urban fantasy anthology series, Unseen. The unseen world exists alongside ours, but only a few humans can see it. It's a world where magic and magical creatures exists, and Karim's character tells his story in episode 7, titled We Ourselves.
Beth Eyre and Felix Trench played twins Antigone and Rudyard Funn in Wooden Overcoats, a British sitcom set on the tiny fictional island of Piffling, in the English Channel. The twins run a funeral parlor together, the only one on the island, until a newcomer arrives. Eric Chapman (played by Tom Crowley) sets up a much more successful funeral parlor, and the story is narrated by the Funns' house mouse, Madeline.
Alan Burgon plays the Interviewer in The Amelia Project. The Amelia Project is a secret organisation, and clients come to them looking for their help in faking their deaths. The Interviewer listens to each client's story, before concocting unique and often elaborate ways in which they will stage their deaths, before being reborn into a new identity.
David Ault is also a very recognisable voice to anyone who spends a considerate amount of time listening to fiction podcasts, and The Kingmaker Histories feels like an appropriate choice here. A weird steampunk series set in the Valorian Socialist Republic in 1911 , this story involves found family, its own intriguing magic system, and being gay and doing crime.
Our favourite cowboy, Giancarlo Herrera, plays one of the protagonists in sci-fi action/thriller, Primordial Deep. Spinner is part of a team which is sent deep beneath the sea to investigate the resurgence of creatures thought to be long-extinct. There's plenty of horror to be had here, as something ancient is stirring in the depths of the ocean.
As for the crew? Tal Minear works on so many podcasts, and if you like fantasy stories, I would recommend the delightfully lighthearted Sidequesting, which follows new adventurer Rion, as they help people on their travels. If you would like some more horror, there's their spoiler-driven anthology series, Someone Dies in This Elevator.
Hannah Wright's Inn Between is a fantasy series based on D&D. Each episode follows a party as they meet in the Goblin's Inn, in between adventures, as the tavern follows them around wherever they go.
Stephen Indrisano's upcoming docu-horror Shelterwood promises to be a series which explores the horror of suburbia, as it follows one man's quest to find his missing sister. Until this is released, I would recommend Do You Copy, in which Stephen plays one of the protagonists. This found footage horror series follows the events which unfold after the closure of Red Tail National Park, and the people who were left inside the park, after its mysterious closure.
Ella Watts is regarded as a walking encyclopedia of all things audio fiction, and has worked on several high-profile projects, including directing both Doctor Who: Redacted and Marvel Move. Her upcoming Camlann is a post-apocalyptic series due to be released next year, inspired by Arthurian legends and British folklore. She is also the executive producer of Tin Can Audio's (who are also producing Camlann) beautiful experimental series, The Tower. The protagonist of this story, Kiri, leaves her life behind to climb an impossibly high tower, making phonecalls along the way.
Newt Schottelkotte's Where The Stars Fell is a supernatural fantasy set in the town of Jerusalem, Oregon. Cryptozoologist Dr Edison Tucker arrives in the town to carry out some research, and meets her roommate, author Lucille Kensington. There's so much more to this strange town than first meets the eye, with a huge revelation at the end of season one.
If you're new to fiction podcasts, welcome! I hope this short (ish!) and very much non-comprehensive list gave you some ideas of what to listen to next!

let's say that the infinite train runs on computer code, which is why it was able to be hacked by amelia and (to a lesser extent) tulip. let's also say that each car has its own unique code to some extent, because they are contained worlds with different denizens, rules, and puzzles. let's say this code is binary. considering the above, when lake was able to leave the chrome car, they broke their attachment to that code. you might say. this made them non-binary. 👍🏳️‍⚧️

Primal Desires: The Yautja's Mate
Chapter 1: The Hunt Begins
In the dense jungles of an alien planet, a female human named Amelia found herself lost and alone. Little did she know that she had stumbled upon the hunting grounds of the Yautja, a fearsome extraterrestrial species known for their breeding prowess and pride in their mates. Unbeknownst to Amelia, her body was entering a unique phase, emitting a scent that would drive the Yautja into a frenzy.
Chapter 2: The Clan Leader's Discovery
As Amelia's scent reached the nostrils of the Yautja clan leader, Zarak, he became consumed by an overwhelming desire to claim her as his own. Driven by his primal instincts, Zarak embarked on a relentless pursuit, determined to find the source of the intoxicating aroma. His senses led him straight to Amelia, who was unaware of the danger lurking in the shadows.
Chapter 3: The Mating Ritual
Zarak, a towering and muscular Yautja, approached Amelia with a mix of curiosity and desire. He recognized her as his destined mate, and his pride swelled at the thought of claiming her. With a mixture of caution and reverence, Zarak initiated the Yautja mating ritual, a dance of dominance and submission that would bind them together for eternity.
Chapter 4: The Changing Body
As Amelia's bond with Zarak deepened, her body began to undergo remarkable changes. Her skin took on a subtle luminescence, and her senses sharpened to match those of her Yautja mate. She marveled at her newfound strength and agility, embracing her transformation as she prepared to carry their hybrid offspring.
Chapter 5: The Super Long Labor
Months passed, and Amelia's pregnancy progressed. The Yautja hybrid growing within her was unlike anything the universe had ever seen. As the time for delivery approached, Amelia's body endured a grueling and prolonged labor, a testament to the unique nature of their hybrid offspring. Zarak stood by her side, offering unwavering support and encouragement.
Chapter 6: The Birth of a Hybrid
Finally, after an arduous labor, Amelia gave birth to a large, healthy human/Yautja hybrid pup. The child possessed the strength and resilience of the Yautja, combined with the compassion and intelligence of its human mother. Zarak's pride swelled as he held their child for the first time, knowing that their union had created a being that would forever change the destiny of their species.
Chapter 7: The Bond of Breastfeeding
As the hybrid pup grew, Amelia embraced her role as a mother, nourishing their child with her own milk. The bond between mother and child deepened, as did the connection between Zarak and his newfound family. Together, they formed an unbreakable bond, a testament to the power of love and the strength of their unique union.
Epilogue: A New Era Begins
Amelia, Zarak, and their hybrid pup became a symbol of hope and unity among the Yautja. Their extraordinary story spread throughout the galaxy, inspiring other Yautja to seek out human mates and embrace the potential of their hybrid offspring. As a new era dawned, the Yautja and humans forged an alliance, forever changing the course of their intertwined destinies.

I’m not seducing the female lead’s obsessive father!
[yandere!regis floyen x agent!reader headcanons]
PART ONE: A NEW DAY, A NEW LIFE
Tumblr media
warning: spoilers from the manhwa, obsessive behavior, implied violence. Please take caution.
Note: this is a work of fiction with the intention of entertainment purposes only. The behavior exhibited here is inappropriate and unhealthy, hence it should not be encouraged. Special thanks to @soleilician, @d10nsaint, @lyomeii and @justleisha-deniyor for all of their help with creating this masterpiece!
Give these lovely authors a round of applause guys, I seriously wouldn’t have done without them.
As you can see, this will be a multi-chaptered series, shouldn’t be longer than three parts (hopefully). This will also be part of an entwining series called The Chapter Chronicles, where secrets agents travel to various worlds and tasked with protecting them from destruction.
So without that being said guys, sit back, relax, and let’s dive into a world of love and madness ~.
Gyeong-Ja could say that she is a normal person and led a daily normal life. Life was challenging, even messy, and sad. Nonetheless, despite these unfortunate events that have happened and being a stressed company worker, she found comfort in reading a manhwa or a similar novel that allowed her to escape reality for a few hours until she went to bed, and the day repeated itself. The concepts were unique, but she especially enjoyed the reincarnating-in-another-world troupe.
She never believed in such a thing happening in reality, but that did not stop her from imaging a luxurious and carefree life. At least, until that day happened when Gyeong-Ja’s life turned upside down. Within the blink of an eye, she found herself in a fancy European style bedroom, standing in front of a mirror with a face that wasn’t her own.
In all honesty, she was terrified. Fear had forced her to become a more intelligent individual once she was aware that the world she is in is none other than the setting of Father, I Don't Want To Get Married. If the fact that she was a marquis’ daughter did not startle her enough, it was that Gyeong-Ja’s new body bore a striking resemblance to Duke Regis’ late wife, Amelia. So, why not use it?
She was now a beautiful woman named Louise de LaRue, who must find a match and be married off soon to a good family. In her mind, no one would fit the role of a perfect husband than the Empire’s greatest swordsman. Of course, it was dangerous and risky to influence the course of the story, but it was for her own good.
Besides, shouldn’t she be rewarded for being a law-abiding citizen after working herself to the bone as she had done? What’s wrong with being selfish once in a while, hm?
Gyeong-Ja, now fully accepted her new identity as Louise, really tried to gain the duke’s attention. She had memorized Duke Regis' schedule, tried to calculate the balls he was going to, and searched everywhere she saw him for an excuse to go with him, but despite all her efforts, everything she did was fruitless.
Her new father supported her ambitions and promised to help his daughter anyway he could. After all, it would bring their family to the peak of high society if she took the vacant position of the Floyen duchy as its duchess. Duchess Louise Floyen. That had a nice ring to it, didn’t it?
But, back to the matter at hand. She still couldn’t get close to the Duke!
Ah, if she’d studied for her university exam with the effort you put into conquering that goddamn man, she’d be a professor now! She reprimanded herself before forcing her aggravated mind to calm down. It wasn’t the end of the world. She simply had to change her tactics. If she couldn’t approach the Duke, then the best person to ensure a romance with him was to get close to his daughter, Jubelian.
Once he realizes how kind, honest, and intelligent she is compared to the other high society rats, he’ll definitely fall in love with her. Yes, this was the way towards a happy life~!
Tumblr media
A person’s own world could take on the shape of entertainment for other individuals.
These worlds are crafted from authors. When the world is in the incomplete drafting phase, they are in control of it. However, once the author writes the final sentence of their work, the world becomes independent from its creator. It cannot be touched by any outsiders, nor will it collapse unless something happens to the male protagonist, the female lead, or deuteragonist.
Every world has its own set of rules and genres. If an outsider intervenes with the novel’s plot on the pretense of conquering a character or to shape it into their own world, that’s where you come in.
Under the name “Sheila”, you worked as an agent for The Chapter, one of three organizations tasked with monitoring these worlds and fixing them before they are destroyed.
Although you were vacationing on an off-world designated for relaxation, your contract as an S-ranked agent did require you to be ready for an emergency mission. So, when you heard the shrill alarm emitting from your system, you automatically knew it was time to clock back in.
The system provided the intel via a web file: the world you were assigned to was based on a best-selling novel and manhwa adaptation; Father I Don’t Want to Get Married. Everything was running its course until an outsider showed up. A transmigrator who is reborn in this world as an extra side character and decides to find her own happy ending.
Basically, an idiot who wants to screw up the world’s order so she can get herself a hot (and preferably rich) man who just happened to be the female lead’s father.
Ugh, why can’t people enjoy a romance with deep feelings instead of sexual attraction? But that was just your logical opinion. Agents weren’t allowed to get attached to anyone. Shaking your head, you continued to read the file.
This world has a high ranking on novel websites, classifying it as forbidden. Once you were there, all connection to The Chapter’s main system would be cut off. You would be alone with limited access to tools  and emerge in the world in your original physical body instead of the spiritual one that allows you to possess a person.
There were just as many pros as there were cons if you accepted this mission. However, you didn’t obtain a perfect streak of SS-scored missions within the last quarter by being meek. So what’s one more forbidden world to add to your mission record or another person who will hate you for messing up their ‘genius’ plans?
Seeing them crumble in despair or screaming your name in anger as karmic retribution kicked their ass made this job all the more fun, anyway~!
Grinning, you pressed the ACCEPT button on the screen, immediately teleporting to the novel world.  Upon the completed migration process, you woke up in a lovely bedroom with cream-colored walls and another screen hovering in front of you.
Your new identity was Sheila Griddlebone, the only child of Marquis Griddlebone and trusted advisor on the Emperor’s council. Starting today, you would be shadowing your father in the imperial palace as you have recently been declared the heir to the household. Your older brother was too incompetent to run things.
Sadly, the intruder was part of the neutral political faction and not the loyalists, so you couldn’t see firsthand what this flea looked like. But you did get a name: Louise LaRue. Least that some form of identification to the outsider you were tasked with apprehending while not exposing yourself as an agent.
Rumors around high society gossiped about her relentless pursuit of the novel’s deuteragonist. In all honesty, you kinda expected the flea to possess a cheat system that allowed her to be in this world or to collect enough affection to conquer the aloof man. But you certainly did not think she would sink this low to not only possess a physical resemblance to his late wife, but also act like her. And she’s supposed to be a marquis’ daughter too? How shameless.
But that was all right, all good things would come to those who waited. And all the more anticipation to see her squirming before the emperor once she was exposed as a fraud.
Ah, you seriously  loved this job~!

CAA is omnipresent?
A wonderful friend has dug up some interesting information that I am about to share about CAA.
Jan 2023: The move cements the separation of their assets from the pan-European Wild Bunch AG film group, which was created in 2015 out of the merger of their original French company Wild Bunch and Germany’s Senator Film and is now majority-owned by German entrepreneur Lars Windhorst. This means Wild Bunch AG no longer owns its 20% stake in the independent standalone international sales company Maraval and Chioua and their 15-strong team launched in 2019 under the banner of Wild Bunch International (WBI). The company is now been majority owned by Maraval and Chioua and its staff, with CAA also holding a 20% stake. The pair are in the process of securing a new name but the public dropping of the Wild Bunch moniker marks a decisive move for them and their team as they continue to build the new company.
DEADLINE: Wild Bunch International has existed as a standalone company since 2019. Why have you decided only now to split from the iconic brand name you created in 2002 but no longer own? BRAHIM CHIOUA: When we created Wild Bunch International in 2019, Wild Bunch took a 20% stake in exchange for allowing us to use the Wild Bunch brand in our name under a signed three-year agreement. We had a second commercial cooperation deal for the same period under which Wild Bunch International continued to sell and manage Wild Bunch’s international catalogue for a fee, and also had access to the group’s back-office services, for which we paid a fee. This deal came to an end in November 2022 with a get-out clause for both parties. We opted to buyout Wild Bunch’s equity share.
DEADLINE: You have always worked closely with CAA. How does this move impact your relationship with the agency?
MARAVAL: CAA has been an historical partner and they allowed us to start the new company three years ago. Our relationship is probably one we are the most proud of because this goes beyond a simple business relationship. Together with Roeg Sutherland’s team, we built a unique business model of synergies and connection in term of promotion, financing , talent representation that benefit the talent and the producers we are working with such as Alice Diop, Nadine Labaki, Claire Denis, Rebecca Zlotowski, Ladj Ly, Jacques Audiard or Gaspar Noé for example.
DEADLINE: As well as continuing to work on international sales, the new company seems more directly involved in producing... MARAVAL: International sales is no longer our only activity. We’re much more involved as active co-producing partners whether it’s through Le Collectif 64 or Wild West. It’s not like in the past when a company such as Fidelité would come to us with a film, and we would say ‘yes’ or ‘no’. Now, we participate in the development, financing and packaging of projects. Changes in the industry meant we had to reformat ourselves. We don’t have to sell the films produced by Getaway Films, Wild West or Le Collectif 64 because with those companies we’re wearing a co-producer hat with an active role. We need to find the best solution for each film, which won’t necessarily involve us selling it internationally on a territory basis.
Source:
It's interesting that WBI separated from WB AG in November 2022.
In the end of March 2023 they revealed their new name Goodfellas
February 2023: Still WBI has boarded sales on Amelia's children
November 2021: Former NBCUniversal Vice Chairman and CAA Co-Founder Ron Meyer Named CEO of Wild Bunch
So, CAA has 20% stake at Goodfellas (former WBI), their partner WB AG is run by a former CAA co-founder Ron Meyer. Another ex-CAA co-founder Michael Ovitz is one of Jinx partners. Omnipresent CAA
More about WB AG:
It looks like transatlantic cooperation, that's why pairing up an American actor and a European actress makes sense to attract not only domestic but also an international audience. As we know Chris is not well-known in Europe, if he wants more international fame and financing for the Kelly project from a non-US company, this pr rl might be a good chance for him.
Industry people have been informed about WBI and WB AG deal since 2019, Seb and Aly, Chris and Lily, and now Chris and Alba appeared in 2020. Actresses are from Europe.
The industry is changing due to many factors. Chris is trying to survive like many actors. He doesn't have his Marvel role too. It's a new start for him, he needs to build a solid foundation. Industry-wise, he is not RDJ or DJ, he doesn't have a pull to make people go to watch his movies as a lead, he needs pr.
Chris' case is also different because of Amelia's children and his 2 movies. And we don't know about Jinx marketing plans.

Sunset Over the Y Bridge
It's funny to hear residents of Zanesville, Ohio, call the Y Bridge, "world famous," when most of the world has never even heard of Zanesville; however, to their credit, it's a very unique and beautiful bridge. It's so unique, in fact, that Amelia Earhart once quipped that Zanesville is "the most recognizable city in the country" because of how easy it was to identify from the air.
Tumblr media
This marvel of engineering was first proposed by the Ohio General Assembly in 1812. Their charter was to build a bridge connecting the towns of Putnam, Natchez, and Zanesville, all of which resided on different banks of the confluence of the Licking and Muskingum rivers. These towns eventually combined to form the city of Zanesville.
Tumblr media
While the bridge was finally opened to traffic in 1814, the original limestone and wood structure has been rebuilt many times throughout history because of flooding between the two rivers. The fifth iteration of the bridge was completed in the Fall of 1984 and still stands today.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As the sun continued its descent, shadows gradually encased the beautiful history of my surroundings. Only the sounds of local traffic and the friendly banter of fishermen kept me company.
Tumblr media
The final moments of color were my beacon to leave. Since it's hard work chasing sunsets, 😉 it was time for a cherry stout from the local Y Bridge Brewery. 🍻

There’s this tiny Thyreophoran (Thyreophora, or armored dinosaurs, is the group that Ankylosaurus and Stegosaurus are from, so the two genera are cousins.) called Jakapil, which is a very basal genus of Thyreophoran, as in its closest relatives are Scelidosaurus, Scutellosaurus, and etc. cause I cannot think of more than those two. Said closest relatives are from the early Jurassic, meanwhile Jakapil was walking in the Argentinian deserts at the same time Spinosaurus was… Spinosaurusing since the Spinosaurus is very inconsistent in what it was like. Jakapil was around the size of a cat and it was very adorable, but its body was covered in armor plating.
The Jakapil was discovered and named around 2012, but its description was done ten years later in 2022. Its full name is Jakapil kaniukura which Ja-Kapil means “shield bearer” in puelchelan and kaniukura means “crest stone” in Mapundungun after its uniquely deep jaw.
Onto my actual point per se, I was thinking it would be funny if Amelia and Javi found out about it, and. Uhh something something plushies?
Idk after the first part.
Amelia looks at *——all of what you said above——* and then stares at Javi, “how do you know that—? Did you actually look it up?”
Javi giggled, “no— not really. A friend of mine texted me this entire thing because he saw me buying stegosaurus and ankylosaurus plushies at the toy store and thought I loved dinosaurs”
“Which you do” Amelia suggested.
“Which I do” Javi affirmed, “and so I thought it would be fun to tell you that our dinosaurs, indeed, were cousins.”
“What”
“Yes” Javi nodded, and she then interrupted again, “wait. Did you just say you we’re buying stegosaurus and ankylosaurus plushies?”
Javi giggled, then blushed, “well— I saw a pink ankylosaurus in the toy store when I’d gone to get a birthday present for Poppy’s first— and i couldn’t resist. Then I stepped into the dinosaur aisle and never really saw the light of day after that…” Javi explained dramatically, receiving a punch in the shoulder from the red ranger, and yelped “ouch” then continued, “so I technically got you the ankylosaurus. And I found a green triceratops but then I thought ollir would be offended seeing that, so I didn’t buy that. Then I was just about to check out when my eyes fell on a.. you guessed it right… a black stegosaurus— WHAT ARE THE ODDS?!”
“And where are the plushies right now?”
“On my bed. I cuddle them” Javi explained, “they’re a pair. Do not separate. Share my bed if you want the plushies”
“I already do” Amelia said, looking around at the way the two of them were literally tangled up in her pink bedsheets, watching Mary Poppins at the moment.
“At my place” Javi placed the condition, and Amelia rolled her eyes, “fair enough. And?”
How did she know there was more to the story— OH the info dump from earlier— Javi chuckled, then continued, “So… After my friend introduced us, I found the Jakapil absolutely adorable.”
“And…?” The way Javi said it, Amelia just knew there was something in it that he wasn’t telling her. The mischief in his eyes showed.
“Well… it’s about the size of a cat.”
“You said that already. And??”
“I got a plushie custom made for it” Javi said, flushing, as he watched Amelia’s hands flying to her mouth, “you did NOT—“
“I did.”
“And…?” Three was still something he wasn’t telling her.
“There’s two of them. And i customed the colors to be… red and black” he said, looking like the human version of the awkwardly blushing emoji.
Before receiving a flying pillow in the face from her.

on the subject of amelia — it’s always vexed me that we know so little about her. no history, no background, she doesn’t even have a unique model! but it got me thinking that maybe that’s intentional. the church around her still clearly wields the highest authority in the land with a crop of devoted subjects singing its praises in the streets. however, the vicar — the highest church authority! — is an astonishingly minor character.
i have to wonder if her utter lack of impact on the world around her — punctuated by her explosion into beasthood — is meant to represent the decay of the church, not just morally, but in its fundamental structure. laurence haunts the narrative — but amelia does the opposite. no person or group mentions her by name or by title. for all intents and purposes, it seems that vicar amelia was nothing but a figurehead atop a hierarchy awash with blood-drunken parishioners at the bottom and the madmen of the choir and school of mensis near the top.
i think the void that the character of amelia leaves even before her beastly transformation is highly informative about the state that yharnam and the church find themself in: utter decay. perhaps once the church was an iron-fisted theocracy, but that infrastructure is rotting. the violence committed by the church in the state that our good hunter finds it is utterly arbitrary, and its people too poisoned by blood to care. i think the ultimate proof lies in the fact that killing amelia changes nothing at all: the church in their hubris has meddled in forces far greater than any one man, and now yharnam is paying for it through the nose.

You know what’s a super cool idea? If you’re upset about the whole RQ Network thing and not sure how to proceed, it seems like now more than ever the independent creators under RQN need support and confidence. If you’re financially able, or had been an RQ patron and are rethinking that, pledge directly to the individual creators you like!
Malevolent fan? Malevolent, Invictus and its side project Dice Shame have a patreon feed here:
The Silt Verses and I Am in Eskew:
Old Gods of Appalachia:
The Deca Tapes creator:
How It Ends:
The Storage Papers:
AND IF YOURE INTERESTED: HERE ARE SOME OTHER EXCELLENT INDIE PRODUCED PODCAST FEEDS. Of course there are dozens more I don’t know about but some near and dear to my heart:
The Night Shift podcast (if you follow me I never shut up about it, it’s the perfect meal to feed the hungry beast inside me that needs conspiracies and queer love):
Monstrous Agonies (great for those who have trouble with longer form podcasts, funny, lighthearted and entirely unique take on Creatures among us):
Welcome to Night Vale, the girl who walks so all these bitches can run!
Fool and Scholar Productions was, I believe, specifically made when a married team of creators became disenchanted with the current podcast network landscape (for ever more apparent reasons) and they’ve created a bunch of podcasts, including some personal favorites like Dark Dice and The White Vault:
There is also Fable and Folly Network, which does a kind of executive production think like RQ with all kinds of podcasts, like Death by Dying and the Amelia Project, but I have run out of links I can post but I know dbd and tap both have their own patreons!
And don’t forget to continue supporting the individual creators involved in RQ originals, too. These are people who are going to suffer the most from whatever backlash this creates.

February 2023 Check In
Tumblr media
[ID: A banner with a nature background. Winnipeg, a longhair in a wheelchair who is holding a frypan, is to the left, and a gray female shorthair is to the right. The Paw Borough logo is in the middle, with a button that says “FEBRUARY 2023” under it. End ID.]
Greetings
Thanks for sticking by! We’ve got a batch of assets to share!
First off, we need to apologize for not having the Guild breakdown this month. One of our leads in charge of its primary design and presentation, Blue, had his moving truck broken into, losing thousands upon thousands of dollars in property theft. He had nearly all of his possessions stolen, including his work computer with progress files, and he was left without any clothing.
This was an emergency situation, and it left us scrabbling in the midst of our work. More information can be found from him here. He has posted a few recent updates on the situation as well as community efforts to restore the damages.
We didn’t want to rush the final Guild design while this was happening. We would rather deliver you a polished product, so we decided to allow Blue recovery before getting back to it. We hope you can understand! And we thank you all for your patience. After recovering for a few days, Blue is getting back to work this month.
That all being said, we do have some progress to share!
The Bovine Kit
First off, we mulled over some of our current assets. A few of the early pieces of breed art, we feel, have not been congruent in style with our later breed renders. We are currently ruminating upon efforts to update our breed assets–before launch–for style consistency. The first of this undertaking is a full redo of the Bovine kit.
Tumblr media
[ID: A rendered image of the Bovine kit. It is a short-furred breed with a cow-like nose, ears, and tail, with hooves on the back legs. It is laying down. End ID]
In addition to more style consistency, we altered the pose to more uniquely suit the breed! We hope everyone enjoys the upgrade!
There will be further ruminations on our part for what early renditions to tweak to best suit the game's style. So, watch out for potential further updates!
Introducing the Wolf
A few months ago, we teased the inclusion of a domestic breed in our lineup; a breed based on the beloved lykoi (colloquially known as the "wolf cat.")
Tumblr media
[ID: Finished renderings of the Wolf breed. It is a wiry-furred breed with a hairless muzzle and front paws. End ID]
Mars, kit, and venus poses respectively!
The Wolf will be released to the player base at an undesignated time, and will not be available immediately upon launch.
NOTE: Coloring and placement is for testing purposes and is not necessarily indicative of the final colors.
We hope you all enjoy these scruffy furballs! We as the team have been having a blast seeing the mechanics of an A2 colored face come to fruition!
The Fyret
Lastly, here is a peek at what's to come next month: the Fyret!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[ID: Concept sketches for the Fyret breed. It is a long-furred breed with a long body and tail. The venus pose has a large, spiky mane. End ID]
Mars, kit, and venus concepts respectively!
The Fyret is a special breed which has been designed by our Kickstarter backer. Their request was a mystic breed which merges the ragdoll and a ferret!
We’ve worked with them on sketching their concepts and then curating a proper design for Amelia to bring to life. The results have left us charmed and very pleasantly fond of this furry mystic!
The Fyret will be available to all players at launch!
Thank you all for tuning into this update!
To summarize: Grand theft of one of our leads stunted this update, but we’ve shared an updated Bovine kit, the final Wolf art, and Fyret concept sketches.
What to expect next month: The intended Guild breakdown, the final Fyret art, and any Kickstarter designs or assets that are finished this month.

What would happen if you put a practitioner on the train, I get the sense those (metaphorical) gremlins might pull an Amelia
see this one is more difficult to manage than worm/train crossovers because while What The Fuck Is Up With The Train remains unexplained, we know exactly what the fuck is up with powers, and we can safely say that--were a mysterious phenomena such as the train to exist--they could continue functioning as normal on there. and they're also very individualized metaphors for trauma and traumatized behavior, so the setting you drop the powered characters in can weaken the strength of the metaphor, but it can never wholly remove its effectiveness. but pact's setting's Main Schtick is a very broad metaphor wherein certain things about the functions of the nuclear family and society at large are depicted thru a magic system which is given in-universe explanatory power for all sorts of random shit, most notably including most basic information about how the universe functions + things regarded as unexplained/weird irl.
so if you put practitioners on the train, it raises the question of "how the fuck does the train fit into this world where magic is real" in a way that putting parahumans on the train doesn't. like, are you explaining it with something from pact? if not, it's very noticeably out of place on a narrative level, and it raises a million questions about how practitioner abilities would function on the train, if they would function at all.
that said. if you'd named a specific practitioner then i could have some ideas for how they would do personality-wise overall but if it's just The Concept Of Practitioners In General. there's not much to say there given how poorly it meshes, nor any assurance that any given practitioner would have an interest in overthrowing the conductor. practitioners are unique characters w/ unique motivations, there's nothing about being a practitioner that makes someone inherently liable to pull an amelia.
we should put blake on the train. he would like it better than the rest of his shit life.

Watched Nimona recently and although it was a fairly enjoyable film and I would still recommend a watch. I got a bunch of thoughts about its ending and themes and how despite it trying to build itself up as this cool queer anticop story it fails to stick the landing and instead suffers from Treasure Planet syndrome. I've decided to ramble it out under the keep reading link so spoilers for Nimona starts there
So this movie is built upon a "knight system" which is established to be an obvious cop parallel, where the knights are essentially the police of this world. The allegory doesn't stop at the job description however, as the movie takes a bold move and introduces this system as very corrupt early on; from the main character being framed by a high-ranking, police-adjacent authority, to revealing that the entire system was built on false hatred and intolerance, to Nimona outright stating that it doesn't end at the true perpetrator, but that "the WHOLE system is corrupt". Time and time again we are given proof of how the knights, whether purposefully or not, hurt, indoctrinate, and brainwash the innocent. This is a great message, and they did an excellent job of carrying it throughout the runtime until doing a sudden 180 at the end. Not only do we see the cop system still in place, with knights in universe portrayed clearly on screen, but they're painted as good with a member playing soccer with a child. They tried to reject corruption by denouncing their founder, yet they still intend to perpetuate the job built to maintain her ideals from the ground up.
Despite attempting to dive into more meaningful territory with a daring dive into a serious modern problem, the ending they gave us was palatable and conveniently perfect in a way that satisfies everyone on a shallow level, which only works with a message that's equally shallow and inoffensive. This sort of trying to have cake and eat it too conclusion is what I refer to when saying Treasure Planet syndrome, as watching the movie gave me deja vu for the same faults- because, while Treasure Planet attempts to weave a unique and subversive narrative that touches upon deeper subjects which would lead up to an unconventional yet impactful end, what they finished with was jarringly standard hogwash where they attempted to tie lose ends in a conventionally pretty, corporate-ceo approved bow. For example, one of if not the main plot of the movie was Jim Hawkins addressing his trauma regarding an absent father that abandoned him and his mom at an early age, finding a better father figure in John Silver and gradually healing from his past with a better role model. Yet at the end, the cycle repeats itself as John ends up leaving (just like Jim's father) with narry a negative emotion from Jim. Jim then goes to cop academy where, despite his journey being about rejecting societal expectations and gaining self-improvement and growth through his own means, he becomes an A-Plus goody-two shoes cop loving poster boy in no time. The syndrome also hits particularly hard with Captain Amelia and Doctor Doppler, where despite their relationship being a man and woman, it still openly rejects heteronormativity with natural romantic progression (no love at first site bullshit) that involves Amelia being way more masculine and competent than Doppler and him being the well meaning yet gullible scientist. Even the way they flirt is subversive, with Amelia calling Doppler's eyes beautiful (a traditionally feminine descriptor) rather than the instigation being made by the man. Yet at the end, heteronormativity hits as Doppler is shown suddenly more assertive and masculine as he dips Amelia in a dance, not to mention their children fall into the trop of the girls looking exactly like the mother and the boy looking exactly like the father (Also. they put a bunch of makeup on the baby girls????). In short, Treasure Planet Syndrome is writing a subversive plot/story that ends abruptly in a palatable perfect way that sacrifices both natural progression and its messages in an effort to create a more appealing happy end. A movie that I think actually LANDED its subversive storyline was Strange World, where it successfully carried through with it's deeper narrative and provided a slightly uncomfortable yet incredibly understandable and meaningful ending.
One last thing before I stop my ramble- the queer rep in Nimona is pretty bad. I mean don't get me wrong, the main character (who is canonically mlm) is fine and I'm always happy to see upfront representation in my media, but the man he was saddle with as his boyfriend treats him terribly throughout most of the movie, to the point where I was genuinely shocked seeing them together at the end. His boyfriend is this nepotism golden child who's beloved by everyone and so neck deep in the corrupt system that he: slices off the mc's arm (just says a vague sorry later), spends most of the movie refusing to trust or believe him, spends most of the movie trying to hunt him down and arrest him, easily succumbs to peer pressure when it comes down to hurting him, prefers to stay loyal to the system rather than his bf, barely questions the situation, and refuses to listen to his bf provide him with explanations or answers. Even the MC recognizes how much he hurt him, because he ends up outright BREAKING UP WITH HIM and begging him to leave him alone, only to get back with him at the end like nothing ever happened. I want a happy ending for canon queer couples as much as the next guy, but if they wanted a happy end, why did the write the love interest to be so awful? They could've made him question the motives of his superiors and the entire situation more, he could've gone out of his way to seek out an explanation before forming his own conclusion, he could've made more attempts to break the rules for harm reduction, to try and understand what happened, hell to try and TALK to the MC- it's really baffling how they tried to paint this as true love when what should've happened is the MC getting a better spouse. I see this as an extension of Treasure Planet syndrome and trying to have and eat cake at the same time mentality, to say I wasn't surprised when I discovered this movie was written by the people behind modern She-Ra would be an understatement.

love how bob seems to be completely out of it for this entire episode. like gene and tina are barely following along with linda and louise's insane reverse psychology game but bob is GONE like he's not present at the dinner table he isnt even part of the family. he just grumbles when linda tells him to but he isn't saying shit 😭😭
TINA AND GENE ARE SO SILLY IN THIS EPISODE LMAOO head empty zero thoughts. they are nothing more than pawns in louise's game
bob is correct for wanting to bribe them with candy that would literally work. like they are simple people
WHAT IF THEY TURN INTO LITTLE DELINQUENTS WHO DONT LISTEN TO AUTHORITY??? linda do you know who your kids are they are already WELL past that point especially louise. kinda funny that linda in this episode has the exact opposite viewpoint to how she was w/ louise in amelia. not a criticism of the episode its just ironic
BLACKMAIL
ARE YOU GONNA KILL US LMFAO
gene is SO BABY in this scene im gonna need to take screenshots later bcuz he is the smallest boy. in the world or maybe ever
back when we were children?? says the nine year old child
love how this episode is told through a bedtime story its very creative formatting and kinda unique feeling compared to the three story type of episode :)
MR FISCHOEDER APPEARANCE thank god we always need more fischoeder in our lives. i was worried we would have to wait weeks or even months to see him again
love big g. is that perhaps Grandma or Gloria
ZEKE AND JIMMY JR this is the big win for people who like seeing secondary characters. this episode already has more of them than like the Entirety of season 13 zeke and gene are so cute. their friendship is everything
THEY SEEM NICE TO ME AND LOVING I WANNA SAY AND WISE LIKE THEYVE GOT ALL THIS WISDOM TO PASS ON ABOUT LIFE AND THE WORLD 😭😭😭 lmao zeke saying that bob and linda are loving and kind is kinda sweet even though i know its technically bob and linda saying that about themselves. i do think zeke has a positive view of bob and linda Tbh
YOU GUYS SEEM LIKE YOU WORK SO HARD ALL THE TIME AND YOURE DELIGHTFUL........
new jimmy jr lore: he has a small bladder?
BOB AND LINDA GIVING EACH OTHER PIGGYBACK RIDES <3 so cute
rudy AND jessica spotted
AAWWWW ITS OUR JOB TO PROTECT YOU they love their kids so much :(
MARSHMALLOW APPEARANCE WTF??? new voice actor too :D i thought if she was gonna be in any episode it would be the bachlorette episode but its kinda funny she's just randomly in a western. its where she belongs
wait did i die?? no you were just being dramatic :/
I DONT KNOW WHY I THOUGHY MR FISCHOEDER WAS GONNA SERIOUSLY SUGGEST TO USE REAL BULLETS mf just shoots a bunch of kids. i mean he would do that honestly
AWW BOB SPECIAL INTEREST MOMENT he likes cooking ^_^
everything i do i do it for you 😭😭💕
LINDA ACTUALLY CRYING THIS IS GONNA BREAK MY HEART wtf i wasn't expecting this episode to actually get sad. what the hell </3 louise making her mom cry.....
"even though its really cool for moms to get angry and frustrated and cry in front of their kids"
this is weirdly reminding me of mother daughter lazor razor?? linda saying that she wished louise liked her and then louise saying wait you think i dont like you. their relationship is so weird and complicated but louise DOES love and respect linda and thinks she's really cool and fun!!! i wont hear otherwise idc
ONE OF OUR CHORES WAS TO LIGHT GRANDPAS CIGARS LIKE IN OUR MOUTHS??? LMAO WHAT THE FUCK LINDA why is this getting like weirdly serious is every episode gonna be like this now. are they just a little bit traumatic to watch every single time (also john roberts did A GREAT job voicing in this episode especially this ending scene)
MOSTLY BECAUSE OF TINA RIGHT AND GENE why did i literally start laughing loudly when she said that. god i love louise so much
aww they're babies <3 their relationship is the sweetest. you'll the toughest little cutie in prison
LIKE I SAID CANDY WAS LITERALLY THE SOLUTION those kids will do anything for some candy we all know this. we've seen the show before
gene its not even a question you WILL play coachella someday baby boy. you could probably do anything you wanted
GLORIA APPEARANCE i mean i dont like her but its been a few seasons since she was around. hello gloria is al dead
wait why does gloria have big ass badonkadonks..what who said that
aww the babies all asleep <3 little sweethearts
THIS EPISODE WAS SO FUN AND CUTE??? like genuinely a great episode that was heartfelt AND funny and had a really interesting story element to it as well. louise and linda episodes are always great and i love linda talking about how hard it is to raise good people and how much pressure is on them (and it makes sense that she would be more stressed about making them do chores vs bob because it was her mom who was pressuring her. big bob doesnt give a FUCK) a very fun start to hopefully a great season!!!!

Hi,hello🫶I wonder….in another universe would Merry be a good handler? 🧐And is there some kinda veil monsters but deep ocean version?
hmmm i don't know 🤔 i do actually think Merry, as she is now, could make a good handler - she's learned a lot as a captain, she has a good grasp on politics and diplomacy, and she has the charisma.
but if she was recruited when she was younger, i imagine she would go for the hunter role, instead. her situation was similar to the mc's, being the primary income for her family, and i do think joining the Order was on the radar when she was a teen as a sort of "last resort." but ultimately, she ended up getting work as a whaler, and avoided that life. and that first taste of the sea set her on the path she's on now.
as for deep sea Vel creatures.... there are definitely creatures out there that very few people have seen, as well as unique monstrosities that only form due to very certain circumstances, that no one will ever see at all. i think one of the "rare" monsters would be a Leshy-like creature, that actually has the ability to communicate and think for itself, and even manages to retain some of its humanity. and in general, older entities, like old vampires and old wraiths would get more and more monstrous looking as the years pass, too - eventually they would achieve that "deep sea" look, and vampires lose the ability to pass as human.
any kind of creature that starts out with a human form (or animal, as animals can be corrupted by the Vel, too, in the wrong place at the wrong time) will get more and more abstract and inhuman looking as time goes on. a wraith starts out as a spirit, a ghostly apparition of a human, and eventually turns into what we saw in the prologue. i like to use the corrupt hunters in bloodborne as a good example of what someone can turn into.... vicar amelia, or the cleric beast. kos is a good example, too - almost no human features but her arms and her hidden human face. we will be seeing something similar in game 🫢
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and there are actual, literal deep sea Vel creatures. one of the gods that i don't think has been mentioned yet is a sea serpent, spiritually similar to Jörmungandr, however the design i have is far more like that of an actual sea creature than a snake. more in the form of a pacific viperfish, or a frilled shark.

miscellaneous threshold au halfbaked thoughts bc idk ive been playing sims and frying my brain
had another CAPTAIN philippa arc thought about her becoming a wanted criminal by starfleet, framed for whatever reason,,, its vague in my head but im always looking for an excuse to explore trekverse outside of starfleet haha. her just out in space trying to clear her name. would not have a cringe court scene of people backing her claim. i would die.
was thinking that philippa as a field medic might be more prone to being stationed on PLANETS rather than ships for long periods of time, just helping out in planetary warfare.
with that ^ i was thinking about her helping out during a pandemic and her hyperevolved human blood helps find a cure in some way. was thinking id situate this around the time that shes a commander serving underneath Moidrah, her captain kinda 👀s her after discovering the cure with her DNA.
feel so sick in the head looking at irish girl names for a hypothetical peppa daughter but im not set on anything NOT CANON but i have a feeling ill be indulging in Sims lmao so im looking 😞😞😞 Mave/Mavis sticks out to me
was talking with tardi about maybe Liam and Jace flying planes together on earth seeing as theyre both kinda grounded there together. have a unique little telepathic sign language hybrid way of speaking with each other.
ALSO was thinking that maybe Liam would have a unique little padd that he carries around that writes out what people are verbally saying when hes younger and doesnt have lip reading down?? idk on that one haha i was trying to think of more “futuristic” ways he could seamlessly exist around so many different alien spoken languages. was wondering about the visuals of mouths moving, how the universal translators are an Audible adjustment, how itd maybe be unable to help with how aliens are Actually talking and moving their mouths speaking their native tongues. my thought was that Ed would help put all these languages in his lil padd device and it translates it all into written english (or whatever humans speak, Standard??? idk i feel like it has a name)
wanna work with amelia and ed during Protectors more,,,, QUITE HONESTLY a lot of the chakotay plot was just them talking,,,,, from what i remember lol its a blur. but i was yearning thinking about the end of that book when theyre on the ark planet with all the Protectors and theyre all helping to grow stuff and Liam (O’Donnell) in particular is playing with the Protectors hehe,,,, anyway thinking about amelia and ed being down there with their papa, particularly Ed being around weird animals. maybe Ed hangs out with ODonnell as hes analyzing the planet’s animals for those few chapters,,,,, i forget what all the other characters are doing during that book tbH,,,,,,,, i just want them to be equally having done stuff during those four months of Protectors yknow;)

now that ass hair is back in the news i think it's important we return to amelia dallon's asshole, its qualities, its textures. first and foremost, it is important to state for the record that amy's ass hair is truly horrendous. it's like the damn amazon down there, complete with uniquely vast biodiversity (there are several species of louse just south of the lower colon that are as yet unknown to science). moreover, whenever forced to shave it (always by victoria, never voluntarily), she keeps the hair in a special wooden box that also contains her baby teeth and first used tampon.
