Why do people think that Izzy trying to kill Stede was his own idea? It was Ed that suggested it, when Izzy was about to leave him do whatever he wanted with Stede. Wasn't it also established that Izzy did all the killing/cleaning up the mess Ed couldn't? Like yes, Ed didn't mean it, but he also didn't say anything about it until the very last minute? I don't think Izzy should have betrayed them to the English, but why ignore everything else?

I just. Had a realization.
I saw someone on tw*tter say 'If a toddler handed Izzy a toy phone he'd answer it' and like. They're so right. But the Izzy Haters in the quote tw*ets saying shit like 'he'd break the phone' or 'he'd throw the kid overboard' has me realizing:
Izzy is Gordon Ramsay.
He's the epitome of 'getting really angry at people who claim to be professionals without putting in the actual effort required'. As a corollary to that, he's also gonna be really, maybe not nice, but kind to kids who are actually trying.

I think "it's not bad writing just because it made you sad" isn't very good argument when it's followed by "I was satisfied with it", basically saying "this was objectively good because I liked it". It certainly doesn't lack the bias like it pretends to.
It's not even about being sad because of death, it's sadness about the media you loved fumbling hard with your favourite and how the show did what it promised not to (not out of maliciousness but thoughtlessness, which still stings).
You can disagree and be happy with the finale, but the condescension like I mentioned is shameful. I understand that the criticism can feel like rain on your parade, but block instead of insulting others by calling them media illiterate or stupid. Your own arguments are just as emotion driven and you're not the rational and educated reviewer you think you are. For those who enjoyed the finale and don't act like this, thank you.

I think I would be okay with izzys death if every aspect (or a lot of it at least) of ofmd hadn't been a queer allegory. It makes it very hard to see what they were trying to say by killing off izzy.

We finally convinced my friend to watch OFMD and she finished season 1 earlier today but she just texted me that she’s up to s2e3 and… imagine not having waiting a year and a half to find out what happened like we hadn’t even acknowledged Lucius being dead before he’s just back this is INSANE

Directly related to the last post
Revenge crew finally meets husband Sam and The Horde and Stede is the one guy that just Does Not Get It.
Stede is just: Wait Izzy I thought you said these were your children?
Izzy: Yeah. They are.
Stede: But Mr. Bellamy just introduced them as his children??
Sam: Well, yes, they are also my children.
Stede: Did you. Did you use a surrogate???
Izzy: I fuckin wish we had.
Stede: Are they adopted????
Sam: No—well, Johnny is, but not the rest.
Izzy: That’s exactly why Johnny’s my favorite.
Stede: ????????????

until I see s2 imma keep daydreaming about a Stizzy flavored reunion. Ed is too heartbroken and angry to deal with Stede when he returns to the Revenge and shuts himself away in the captains cabin. Stede is forced to work as a crewmate until he is accepted back as co-Captain. He’s gained some muscle and lost a lot of he complaining-about-the-discomfort-of-physical-labor and he’s turning into a competent fucking sailor finally. And he’s not dressed like a ponce anymore and he’s working hard and obey orders. Even the ones Izzy gives to fuck with him. And Izzy sees Stede, tits barely contained in a worn shirt, blonde beard, a nice set of sailor’s crows-feet developing. And oh fuck, the idiot is handsome and not quite as idiotic anymore. And Izzy can’t just ignore him because izzy has to run the ship while Edward is hiding. And as the only one Edward trusts, Izzy is forced to be the go-between for him and Stede and pass messages. Maybe it’s not so annoying after a while because Stede is trying to avoid annoying izzy into kicking him off the ship, so the first mate is getting some damn respect from him finally.

Ed: They should invent a sock for your nose, you know, a nose sock, so when it's cold you don't have to hold your hand over your nose to warm it up. And they should make it not look stupid. Izzy: what

sonic has a large group of friends doesnt he? im not one to keep up with this kinds of things, but im curious to know if you know anything about these friends of his? are they as powerful as him? i heard some of them even have super forms as well, is it true?
Hey! I know a little, though I don’t tend to focus on it. You tend to pick up on things the longer you spend here 🤷
Sonic is a friendly guy. His most well-known friend is Amy Rose. They’re pretty close; I think they’re cousins? It’s quite sweet.
Less frequently, Sonic hangs out with a red tenrec. We don’t know much about him, just that he’s strong, quiet, and seems to have anger issues.
Those seem to be his main friends his age. He’s been seen a lot with a fox kit and a young rabbit. There are a lot of cute photos of him and the fox. Maybe the Blue Blur picked up a babysitting gig?
In fact, it’s quite likely that Sonic is watching his pilot’s kid. His pilot is Miles Prower, a mechanic and scientist who’s behind several recent engineering breakthroughs. By all accounts they spend a lot of time together outside of missions- perhaps Sonic sees him as a mentor? We don’t know a ton about their dynamic; but they do make a great team.
Those are his main friends, at least that we know of. I’m going to cover some less well-known friends in other posts soon 😊.

I can't figure out if I'm more confused that Izzy's arc culminated in his apology to Ed (and death) or that Ed's arc culminated in Izzy's burial because like, we established earlier in the season that sorry doesn't rebuild an abdominal wall. And death doesn't fix the harm either. And the other choice is making soup.
So then, why did Izzy have to do sorry and death to fix things with Ed, why was that portrayed as healing? (this is why I would argue it is not.)
And then Ed did a death in 2x03, then a few sorries but again, that doesn't rebuild an abdominal wall (or a leg and some toes), and he didn't even get to make soup?? did he even talk to anyone but Stede at the party or during the fuckery? was Ed's "soup" the little breakfast? is Stede the only person Ed has now, is that his whole community? but that was before everything went to pieces?

I said I was done taking on baffling takes but I saw a really popular blog’s post against my will and it spun me into “please give me whatever drugs you’re on” mode so I’m giving myself a pass because unfortunately I can’t control myself around a good hill it’s like catnip for me: apparently—as I’ve just now learned—no characters other than Izzy had an explicitly queer arc of self-discovery and expression in this show! which is wild to me, because…come to think of it….maybe they’re…..right? I mean. I can’t believe they would make a show about a gay relationship in which the literal main character wasn’t responsible for the entire premise by leaving his heteronormative life behind to become a pirate and slowly come to find love, family, meaning, and self-actualization in a queer community! at least give his romantic interest an arc where he feels suffocated by a culture of violence and toxic masculinity so he goes through the ringer of highs and lows in which he finally finds balance and starts healing via queer love and found family…I mean, what were they THINKING to give the only queer arc in this show to Izzy and then kill him, smh. that’s the literal definition of burying your gays….idk what to tell you? (/s for legal purposes)
my dudes: you can be sad that your fave died without making it weird. stop watching the show if you don’t like it anymore. write fanfic in a different direction. you’re allowed!!! but can we PLEASE stop diluting what actual homophobia means because it’s not a silly gotcha for your blorbo dying and if you’re jumping through this many hoops to make that make sense, you MIGHT just be perpetuating what you’re claiming so loudly to denounce. because pretending the non-traditionally masculine and the non-white canonically gay LEAD characters don’t exist in favor of your fanon takes of the guy who for a whole season bullies those same characters for showing effeminate traits and then claiming THEM as a lack of gay rep isn’t a good look (and also just makes no sense. WHAT). rue ponder that long and hard. & if you think the show failed you for killing the “only” character with a late-realized queer self discovery arc…rewatch the pilot a few times, and if it’s still not clicking, honest to god you just don’t like this show as the show it is and has always been so please stop ruining it for the rest of us thanks ✌️
