Harlan’s bored and slightly annoyed. He’s annoyed with himself because he can’t stop thinking about Cyrus. He’s annoyed with Cyrus because fuck, he’s never worked this hard for a man before. They've been doing this whole flirting thing for a while now but they haven’t made it official, they still haven’t gone on that date. So when Cody invites him to a party along with Luna, Blake and Everett, he jumps at the opportunity to distract himself.

As soon as they step through the gate to the backyard of whosoever house they were at, Luna heads towards Austin, and Blake and Everett head towards the bar that has been set up. Harlan scans the party to look for a familiar face.

He’s surprised to see Cyrus already there, lounging on a couch with an attractive guy sitting in front of him. Harlan watches them for a few minutes, noting the way the guy flirts with him and how he keeps leaning in to touch his thigh as he laughs.

He clenches his jaw and tries to keep his distance because he never was the clingy type and he’s not about to start now. He’s never the chaser. He’s always the one that is pursued and he likes it that way. He’s the predator, he knows that, but he loves the thrill of feeling like the prey. He especially loves it when Cyrus looks at him with those hungry eyes, except… except this time he’s got those hungry eyes locked on someone else. No, he’s not having it. Those eyes should be on him. Cyrus’ attention should be on him . He should be focused on trying to get Harlan, not whoever that nameless man is.

It surely had nothing to do with jealousy. A Jedi was not jealous. But Obi-Wan had lived cut off from the Force and without proper meditation for so long that his feelings had a surprising intensity. There was no way of being mindful of his emotions and to release them into the Force, so they boiled inside him, making him feel confused and overwhelmed.

Before he knew it, he took Cody's hand and moved into a dark, narrow alley with him. "Just a moment, Cody. I think this could help." He was gentle when he opened the collar of Cody's attire. "An unmarked neck shows them that you're here without a partner. They'll leave you be if your neck is marked because they won't bother with someone who already has a lover. Can I do that for you?"

He brushed his bearded jaw along Cody's cheek, giving him a moment to adjust to the feeling of beard against skin. Obi-Wan then kissed along the warm skin on Cody's neck, gentle at first, before he sucked some well-placed love bites along the visible parts of Cody's skin.
