Ramblings and crazy theory time about GK chap 225 “Slums”
So this chapter which basically came out on Christmas day in the west (although translations and this meta were out only now) is clearly filled with Noda’s idea of Christmas feelings, in fact we have…
Tumblr media
…clearly a mood that resembles the horror/thriller movies that take place on Christmas day.
And to better deliver it we start with the cover showing us, amist the fog, a Church, in front of which there’s the shadow of a man dressed with a tuba hat, with written on it ‘Golden Chapel Maadaa~?’ “Aren’t we in Golden Chapel yet?”)
Tumblr media
…a clear homage to ‘Ripper’ because Jack The Ripper used to murder people in the Whitechapel district taking place between 3 April 1888 and 13 February 1891.
Tumblr media
The font for the kanji written around the image also hints to how we’re back in horror mode.
We then jump to London… no okay, it’s Sapporo.
We’re clearly in a degraded area, the title of the chapter itself tells us we’re in the slums and prostitutes are trying to find customers. One of them, one who’s not young nor particularly pretty with her face all flushed as she’s likely drunk, is walking leaning on a TALL man, both her arms wrapped around his arm… and it’s worth to note the guy, whose figure is completely in the dark, is wearing a tuba hat.
Tumblr media
Yeah, like the guy in the cover.
If this isn’t a bad omen I don’t know what it is.
The woman tries to  chat with him before he shut her mouth with his hand and cut her throat.
Yeah, “Jack the Ripper” has come to join the cast… and here I wonder if the idea is he’s the real “Jack the Ripper” who transferred in Japan or merely Noda used him as inspiration... only this guy isn’t just “Jack the Ripper”. As the poor woman is killed she grabs onto his coat with the result of exposing part of his neck and chest where we can see the marks of a tattoo.
Tumblr media
So yes, in addition to the Pirate Boutarou we get to know another convict met in the past week. This month had two convicts at the price of one!
Is this supposed to be our Christmas gift?
Also, from how she tries to ask him if he’s Japanese (‘Are? Anta, Nihon…’ “Huh? You’re, Japan…”) we can speculate he might not be Japanese. English? Is he the real Jack the ripper who transferred in Japan? Or just a convict based on him? We’ll see.
On the morning after journalists are, of course, storming around the corpse of the poor victim, taking pictures and interviewing a really creepy and tall policeman with some weird…. Are those wrinkles? On his face.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Is he our “Jack, the Ripper” in disguise?
One of Tsurumi’s men in disguise?
Another convict in disguise?
Someone who’s meant to become relevant?
Or just a really creepy, ordinary policeman?
We’ll see.
He seems Japanese though so he’s likely not Jack.
Anyway the man questioning him and pointing out how this murder is similar to a murder that took place the past month in the same place is an old acquaintance of us, Ishikawa Takuboku, the promising journalist Hijikata wanted to hire to influence public opinion favourably as soon as he’ll have the gold and will be able to start his plan of turning Hokkaido into the republic of Ezo.
Ishikawa gets no info from the policeman, not even when he tries to bribe him with food, but thinks well to inform Hijikata of the last developments anyway.
After bragging on how the newspapers are selling well thanks to his article, Ishikawa asks for extra money.
Nagakura scolds him, telling him if he wants money he has to bring them info that aren’t in the newspapers.
Ushiyama, reading the article, feels sorry for the poor woman, thinking it’s a horrible way to kill people and wondering if the murderer has a grudge against whores.
Tumblr media
Ushiyama is an odd type.
He has moments in which he seems to wish to be kind with women and others in which he doesn’t hesitate to molest them or worse (he basically attempted to force himself on Ienaga) or, if he feels betrayed by them, to use them as weapons (as when he tossed a whore at Hijikata because she tattled him out).
Maybe the idea is he’s just extremely bad at self control... which was sort of hinted in the story... but feels like a man’s convenient excuse for his misbehaviour so the idea Noda created Ushiyama to excuse this isn’t exactly something I like.
Moving on.
Ishikawa is also angry but, apparently, only because he has a whore he’s fond of and is afraid she could end up being killed, which prompts Nagakura to scold him rather harshly.
Hijikata instead focuses on asking Kadokura if this case reminds him of one of the 24 tattooed convicts. It turns out it does. 10 years ago one of the convicts ended in Abashiri for murdering a prostitute in Yokohama.
Tumblr media
Hijikata worries Tsurumi as well will realize the killer might be a convict and will get interested in the case, since the killer caused such an uproar.
In the wetlands, Ogata instead is still training himself with the rifle. He’s still targeting ducks however this time, although he doesn’t manage to kill it, he manages to graze it, two feathers falling with clear shoot marks.
Tumblr media
Ogata exhales with a puff of air, the way he did when he was satisfied with having killed the woodcocks.
Tumblr media
Overall I think this only means he’s improving as he’s getting closer in hitting his target (the first time he completely missed) however, although implausible, it would be interesting if he actually only had aimed at the tail and the feathers were his intended target.
This would be interesting not because he would be able to shoot as good as before but merely due to how Noda presented the scene. While we’re lulled on the idea he still can’t shoot as we see the duck flying away, the trick would be the duck was never his target and he can shoot as good as before. A surprise factor correctly foreshadowed. But well, I think chances this will happen are low and Ogata will need to train more before being able to shoot as before and therefore that his satisfaction is merely due to him managing to graze the duck instead than missing it completely, not because the feathers were his intended target.
Meanwhile, on a coastal city on the sea of Okhotsk, Usami is watching a horse die, his eyes completely white.
Tumblr media
As the horse’s owner reaches it and looks around wondering who killed his horse, Usami leaves.
Honestly, the scene is vague but the setting seems to imply Usami is the one behind the horse’s death.
We move to Tsurumi, who’s reading the newspaper in front of a building on which it’s hanging the sign ‘Hokkai Times’ (北海タイムス).
Tumblr media
The Hokkai Times is a regional newspaper published in a wide area centered on Sapporo City in Hokkaido starting from 5th September 1901.
It’s however unlikely we’re in Sapporo or Barato (as previously speculated) for the matter, as those are cities near to the sea of Japan, not to the sea of Okhotsk.
As Hijikata guessed, Tsurumi, reading about the Sapporo murder case (札幌の殺人事件 ‘Sapporo no satsujin jiken’), tells Kikuta he believes a tattooed convict  is involved in it, so he wants to send Kikuta to Sapporo to check into it, while he’ll remain there to search for Asirpa (long story short Tsurumi is likely still checking the northern coat of Hokkaido and didn’t go to Barato. The background looking like Barato in a past panel was likely merely coincidental or Noda recicling an old background scenery in order to save time).
Kikuta readily answers he’ll do it, but when he’s told to also carry around Usami, who has just appeared behind Kikuta with a professional look, Kikuta sounds a lot more reluctant. Usami, despite being a Superior Private and despite Kikuta helping him when he got wounded, flatly says he would prefers not to go with Kikuta. Kikuta, smiling, confesses he feels the same.
Tumblr media
Evidently the moments spend arguing on the boat regarding if it was okay to kill Huci or not had clearly not impressed positively either of them on the other.
On a sidenote Usami, being a mere superior private, is very blunt in voicing his opinion to both Kikuta and Tsurumi who’re both higher in ranking (not only people lower in rank shouldn’t express disliking in working with someone higher in rank but also he’s subtly questioning Tsurumi’s decision). Kikuta takes it really well, but Kikuta has been shown over and over to care for who’s under him and not jump at them using his rank as a mean to bully them. On the other side I wonder if, since this chapter will later establish Usami knows Tsurumi by quite long, this behavior is also due to Usami thinking he has a privileged relation with Tsurumi. We’ll see.
Anyway, in reply to all this Tsurumi comments Usami will be surely useful in Sapporo.
Tumblr media
Well, we know Usami is good at beating people up, we saw him with Ariko but, from the way Tsurumi said it, it seems he’s hinting at something more. Kikuta is puzzled. Honestly I’m worried for him as Tsurumi might want to get rid of him since Kikuta has a high rank and too many moral scruples and Tsurumi wants around himself only men who’re willing to do very dark deeds to reach HIS goal.
Tumblr media
Tsurumi goes on saying he’s sure Hijikata too will go to investigate on the Sapporo murder case and therefore they should be careful not to meet up with him.
Usami, face flushed and eyes wide open, in a creepy font says he actually would prefer to meet up with the Hijikata group, murder them all and take their skins as he doesn’t trust Ariko to do a good spy job.
Tumblr media
The next page shows the whole of Hijikata group (Hijikata, Nagakura [you can see his bald head behind Hijikata], Ushiyama, Kadokura, Toni, Kirawus, Kantarou, Ariko and Ogata as usual closing the line and walking some steps away from them as Ariko pecks on him) on a panel and in the other the Kikuta and Usami group.
Both groups are walking and, from the balloon superimposed on both panels we know they’re going to ‘convict-hunt in Sapporo’.
Tumblr media
It’s interesting how Hijikata brought along his whole group. Normally he doesn’t carry with himself so many men but he evidently expects he could meet up with Tsurumi.
Of course Hijikata is much closer than Kikuta and Usami to Sapporo so, unless Kikuta and Usami go there by boat or by fast horses (it seems at the time railways in Hokkaido were all in the south and they’re in the north so I don’t think they can take a train), Usami and  Kikuta might risk getting there when everything has ended. But well, this is a manga so probably how and how fast they can get there is not a problem that should concern us.
The following page instead shows a frontal of Tsurumi’s face, more specifically of his eyes, and from this a flashback start.
Tumblr media
It’s Meiji 28 (1895), we’re in Shibata in the Niigata Prefecture and Tsurumi, who’s just back from the Sino Japanese war (which ended on 17 April 1895) is in what looks like a dōjō (道場 “training place”), wearing a Karategi (空手着 or 空手衣) or a  Jūdōgi (柔道着 o 柔道衣), in short a traditional uniform used for martial arts (I can’t say exactly which ones) and sitting in Seiza (正座 or 正坐, literally "proper sitting") posture.
It’s worth to remember Shibata was Tsurumi’s home city, which means Tsurumi is fundamentally back home.
Tsurumi is asked by someone who calls him ‘Tokushirou-kun’ how was the battlefield.
Tokushirou is Tsurumi’s given name, calling him with it instead than just Tsurumi implies familiarity and the –kun usage hints that the speaker is likely older in age.
Tsurumi answers calling this person ‘Sensei’ (先生 “Teacher/Master”), so the person talking to him was likely his teacher in martial arts and not a family member. He then goes and explains on the battlefield he discovered something interesting.
Although soldiers are trained to fight for a long time, once on the battlefield most of them would be reluctant to kill, only pretending to fire or, if they were to fire, they wouldn’t aim for the enemy soldiers. Tsurumi also explains he learnt something similar happened also in the American Civil War.
Tumblr media
It’s something interesting that had been touched by Golden Kamuy on a different side. Up till now we have only dealt with battle hardened veterans who’re not afraid to kill and we’ve discussed if they feel guilty or not, if they’re capable now to think at solutions that are different from murder or not. But how a person turns out this way?
Here Golden Kamuy is starting to dig into how you form such a person, how someone who has never killed can grow to perform the act and perform it smoothly and without hesitation.
The start is somehow heartbreaking.
Even despite the training, even despite being tossed on the battlefield, even despite being shoot at, the majority of the men at first still resist, unwilling to murder. Tsurumi, who’s clearly already broken inside (he has already lost Fina and Olga and his eyes now are completely black, no light inside), finds it ‘interesting’ (‘Omoshiroi’ 白い “intereting/amusing”), it’s ‘interesting’ men wouldn’t become immediately bloodthirsty when tossed into a battle, that they would still retain their humanity and hesitate in taking a life.
‘Interesting’.
As if this was a show, or something for him to study.
What I fear is that now he’ll start his project to prepare perfect warriors willing to do the dirtiest deeds as he will say to Tsukishima, one of his many experiments in creating the perfect soldier.
By the way he’ll ‘save’ Tsukishima in the following year, the 29th of the Meiji era or, if you prefer 1896.
Tumblr media
I wonder if Tsukishima’s flashback and this flashback will end up parallleling each other
Anyway, back to the plot, we don’t know how his teacher will reply. The next scene shows Tsurumi back in his uniform seeing some boys observing a horse.
Tsurumi warns them not to approach the horse from behind, especially that one as it belongs to ‘Takeda Sensei’ (武田先生), the man with whom Tsurumi was talking before, and it’s a grumpy horse prone to kick whatever is behind him.
Is this meant to foreshadow why the horse was killed early on? Did it try to kick Usami? Hard to say.
Then, behind Tsurumi, a voice comments he’s back, calling him ‘Tokushirō-san’ (篤四郎さん).
Again the use of Tsurumi’s given name hints familiarity but this time is accompanied by ‘–san’, which hints to an extra layer of respect or politeness or simply that Tsurumi is older.
Tsurumi turns to see a young boy, and comments he has grown taller again, calling him ‘Tokishige-kun’ (トキシゲくん). The boy, who hugely resembles Usami, confirms Tsurumi’s words, flushing, an info box next to him telling us he’s Usami Tokushige (宇佐美 時重), age 14.
The relevant parts of the info box is that, in addition to telling us that Usami is 14, therefore pretty young, in 1895, making him 26 at the start of Golden Kamuy (assuming the story started in 1907).
Tumblr media
This means Ogata, who’s only a little younger than him, can be 25 as I speculated in a past post.
It’s worth pointing out there’s something odd in this kid that doesn’t fit with the Usami we know. His eyes are completely black and no, this time I’m not concerned about the fact that there’s basically no light in them if not for a vague line (which in itself is already worrisome) but with how Usami is normally represented with his irises being white, even in this chapter.
Tumblr media
Up till now we’ve all believed this whiteness is due to Usami’s eyes being naturally clear, like Asirpa’s.
There’s another possibility of course.
Noda represents the irises completely white in characters like Sugimoto, when they’re about to murder someone or facing something shocking. Is the whiteness of Usami’s irises as an adult meant to hint Usami has faced such a trauma it has broken him, leaving him in a permanent state of shock? Is it a hint to Usami being mad or just too murder prone to be normal?
We’ll see.
On a sidenote I was expecting Hijikata to go on a pirate hunting and not to a “Jack the Ripper” hunting. However Hijikata seemed to know Boutarou. Is Boutarou destined to form his own faction? Does Hijikata think since Boutarou is after the gold he too, like Sugimoto, will have to converge on either Hijikata or Tsurumi and therefore there’s no point to hunt him or are Boutarou and Hijikata into a secret alliance from when they left Abashiri?
We’ll see.
Well, this was all for the past year’s Golden Kamuy as this was the last GK chapter printed in 2019.
We’ll see what will happen in this year!

Next stop on Vancouver Island: 3 days to explore BC’s surfer’s paradise Tofino, and the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve.
The 225km / 140 miles getting from Courtenay to Tofino took us about 4½ hours, excluding our excellent lunch stop in Port Alberni at Twin City Brewing Company (4503 Margaret St), and was a bit longer than planned due to some road work congestion.
We started our trip on the coastal scenic Highway 19A up to Qualicum Beach. At Coombs, we turned south on Highway 4, and after 125km / 80 miles, you will arrive at a T-Junction. You either turn left to Ucluelet or keep following the (now) Pacific Rim Highway to arrive in Tofino after about 30km / 22 miles.
After checking into our Airbnb home pretty much opposite Cox Bay Beach, we drove down to Tofino to enjoy the weather and explore Downtown.
We decided to have early dinner on the at Wolf In The Fog (150 4th Street). The overall quality is pretty good, but the number of restaurants in Tofino is definitely not equipped for the summer holiday surge of people. Therefore, do make your reservations (or alternatively dine early or be prepared to wait about an hour in line for a table around dinner time).
We were early so we got seated on the first-floor patio. Consequently, we had a great view of the quaint town and spotted a couple of bald eagles soaring over the restaurant to boot.
We didn’t go for any appetizers, but I did want to try their specialty Potato Crusted Oyster. Despite happy gulping down the occasional oysters, it turns out that, texturally, fried ones are definitely not my thing. I had better luck with my main dish: pan-fried Ling Cod served with a great Moroccan-style Chickpea and Tomato stew.  Chantal had a delicious Tuna Poke, and we chose 8oz(!) pours of local Canadian wines, a 2017 Chardonnay by Bartier Bros (Oliver, BC), and a 2017 Sauvignon Blanc by Clos du Soleil (Similkameen, BC). The kids had a go at the House Made Pasta, which that day was made with fried Chicken, Mushrooms, and Sage.
The kids had actually done their homework on what to do in Tofino and had selected Tofino Licks for their fancy Soft Serves. We thought it was close-by Wolf In The Fog, but unfortunately, their old address was still included in Google Maps. Consequently, we had to walk from one end of the town’s center to the opposite end (220 Campbell St) to find Tofino Licks in a mini food court operating from sea containers, which consisted of several eateries, and a juice bar.
We loved this concept, and we can’t wait for it to start trending in the Netherlands. Pairing their smooth organic soft-serve ice-cream with delicious toppings from local artisans and restaurants turned out great. We had ones topped with the Chilli Chocolate Diablo Cookie by Tacofino (the original food truck of this Mexican eatery emporium is still just outside Tofino), Sobo‘s key lime pie and RedCan Gourmet‘s fudge brownie.
Unfortunately, the sky became cloudier close to sunset, but our beach walk on Cox Bay Beach was terrific, and the views from the aptly-named Sunset Point were still magnificent.
The next day, the weather changed for the worse (or more to a more normal state we were told), so we decided to drive 30 minutes to nearby Ucluelet. As it started to rain very hard, we only visited the small yet super nice Aquarium (180 Main St) and did some grocery shopping.
Afterward, we returned to our Airbnb and spent the rest of the afternoon doing some laundry, reading books, and sampling some of the BC brews that we accumulated along the way.
Another dinner option we had scoped out on our first walk through town was Kuma Tofino (101-120 4th St). We had a lot of luck to be seated within 15 minutes at a 6-person communal table, but the remaining 2 seats were not allocated during our dinner. We started the oddly refreshing Gin Pop Pop cocktail, combining the local Tofino gin, Calpico (a Japanese milk-based beverage), Grove Seedlip, Cucumber, and Citrus. Chantal was still in beer-mode and chose a Sapporo King Can. The kids had a Yuzu Lemonade, of which the sweet/sour balance was just spot on for them.
There were some Ramen Noodles ordered, and other dishes were ordered based on the family-style sharing concept. Everything was well received, so highly recommended!
Veggie ramen (Mushroom-Ginger broth, Agedashi Tofu, Cabbage,  pickled Shiitakes, and a marinated Egg)
House ramen (Shio-based double Broth, Braised Pork Belly, marinated Egg, Kale, and Nori)
Chicken Karaage (crunchy garlic Chicken, house-made Spicy Mayo, and Yuzu-infused Salt)
Tuna Tataki (seared line-caught local Albacore Tuna, Ponzu, Wasabi Mayo, Ginger, Garlic, and Green Onions)
Okonomiyaki (Osaka-style Cabbage Pancake, Bacon, Cheddar, Tonkatsu sauce, Kewpie mayo, and Bonito flakes)
Miso Braised Beef (soft-boiled Egg, crispy-fried Rice ball, Kale, and Miso Mustard sauce). The latter was eye-watering Wasabi strength deliciousness!
Our last morning in Tofino was spent walking the 2 loops of the Rainforest Trail of the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve, located at the south end of Long Beach close to the Kwisitis Visitor Centre. The trail has two routes, one on each side of the highway, and they are very popular (and the parking limited!) as they are obviously located in a stretch of temperate Rainforest.
This was a first for us, and as it was already raining, the humidity was overwhelming at first (“Fôret Humide” indeed). The temperature was actually quite agreeable, and the elevated walkways and stairs lead us through an astonishing and lush forest with thick green foliage wherever you look.
After this fabulous hike, we visited the Tofino Brewing Company (691 Industrial Way) for some refreshments. We had already tried their Kelp Stout back in Vancouver, so we were looking forward to sampling their other beers. From the flights with all of their beers, we liked the Tuff Session Ale, Blond Ale, and Dimension Ascension Dry Hopped Pale Ale best.
Unfortunately, the food options are limited to some snacks and not enough for a proper lunch. We did have some nibbles with the beers (maple-cured smoked salmon of their neighbors, West Pacific Seafoods, and some artisan pepperoni sticks from Port Alberni’s Pete’s Moutain Meats). As the kids were not a fan, we soon decided to head over 1 lot to Summit Bread Company (681 Industrial Way, Units C&D) to get some fantastic artisanal bread and pastries before heading back to our Airbnb.
Now knowing the drill in summertime Tofino, we had already made reservations for dinner at Shelter Restaurant (601 Campbell St).
Shelter Mule (Cucumber Vodka, Mint, Lime, Ginger Beer) & Frozen Bellini.
As shared appetizers, we chose the Buttermilk Fried Chicken (Farmhouse Chicken Thighs & Maple-Honey Soy glaze, pickled candy cane Beets, and fresh Dill) and Crispy Brussels Sprouts (Toasted Bread Crumbs, and Grana Padano).
To our surprise, our oldest wanted the Steak & Frites as his main course (225g / 8oz flat iron steak, Truffle Parmesan fries, Arugula, Chive Gremolata, red Wine Jus), while our youngest wasn’t all that adventurous by resorting to the – not depicted – Shelter Beef Burger (crispy Bacon, smoked Cheddar, Lettuce, Tomato, Onion, Pickle, Mayo, Red Pepper Relish).
Chantal had a Kale Caesar Salad (Chopped Kale, Romaine, fried Capers, Black Pepper & Garlic Croutons, Grana Padano, fresh Lemon).
I had the Panko Crusted Lingcod Burger (Cabbage, Apple & Miso Slaw, pickled Jalapeño & Crispy Onions, Soy Dijon Mayo), with a side of Truffle Fries and Parmesan Dijon Mayo.
Shelter Restaurant was one of the places that were packed every single day from late afternoon through late. And for a reason: the drinks, food, and service were excellent and we had a delightful last evening in Tofino.

Yo I jus had a great laugh about some shit I jus saw right now. So I’m watching Day 1 of The New Beginning in Sapporo right? And I jus got through the Yoshi-Hashi & Will Osprey vs LiJ match. So Naito’s theme song is playing as Naito keeps playing Yoshi-Hashi. This man is doing everything possibly to aggravate Naito and Naito jus keeps brushing it off.
What killed me was a series of events which involved Hiromu getting tossed around, Yoshi-Hashi stumbling his way onto Naito. And Naito is getting choked out while his upbeat ass theme song is playing in the background. I laughed so hard my chest started to hurt. The bell is constantly ringing in the background all while Naito keeps laughing off Yoshi-Hashi.
I love Naito so much.

Go Johnny Go Go !
Sapporo : Mar. 19 Nov. 2019
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Et paf ! Ca fait du whisky épique !
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media

Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Bref, ce fut une bonne surprise.

SOLO QUESTION about 6th Single “FLY HIGH”
Following with the lyrics of their 6th Japanese album “FLY HIGH”, we asked them 3 questions! The B.A.P members fantasise about an escape with BABYz and how to make eye contact with the person they love?!
Q1. Following with the lyrics of “FLY HIGH”, if you were to bring tired BABYz to “an escape from reality”, what sort of plan will you prepare? HC: Let’s see... First I’ll discuss with BABYz about which country to go to, and then buy tickets immediately after we decide on a place. And then GO~ to where BABYz want to go!  DH: Since it’s winter, I want to take them to the onsens in Sapporo. I want them to warm up from going in the onsen and feed them delicious food in a cosy room and such. Sapporo snows a lot right? So after they’ve warmed up their body, I want to go on a stroll with them in the show whilst holding their hand. YJ: I went to Hawaii recently and made many good memories, so I want to bring them to Hawaii! Like enjoying a spa and eating good food. I want to plan a schedule for them where they can escape the daily grind and soothingly give their bodies and mind some rest.  JU: Go to an island. I think it’d be nice to go somewhere where nobody knows you and is quiet without people if you’re going on an escape. I’ll make a boat by myself and escape! ZL: I want to go to Japan. I’ve never been to onsens before in Japan, so I want to go to onsens whilst going on an escape!
Q2. Like the lyrics in “WITH YOU”, if you update your SNS in response to fans feeling “I want to see you, I can’t stop myself”, what message and photo will you upload?  HC: I’ll upload a picture of me right after a shower! Since I look the best after a shower... (Interviewer: Is that so?) No, honestly I think I look the best after I get my makeup done (laughs). I’ll upload a photo that makes me more slim.  DH: Whenever I update my SNS, I always write a message like “I want so see you soon” with a photo of myself. I only write rather simple things, but the single phrase “I miss you” contains everything I want to convey! YJ: I think I will update a message like “I miss you”. Ah, but I won’t upload a photo of myself. I don’t really take selfies. So, please come directly to see me~! (laughs) JU: I want them to feel that I’m with them at this moment, so I’ll continue updating photos and messages about what I’m doing in real time. Conti~~nually. We’re together wherever we are!  ZL: I think I’ll write a lot, starting with the phrase “everyone, did you miss me?” along with a recent photo. I’ll deliver what I’m doing at that moment in real time. I like communicating in real time.
Q3. Following the lyrics of “FIRE FLAME” - “the eye contact with you that attracted me” - are you the type to send eye contact to the female you’re interested in? Or are you the type to purposely try to not be noticed? HC: I think I’m the type to quietly watch over them without being noticed. If our eyes meet, then I’ll look away. I can’t meet eyes with someone that I’m interested or really love.  DH: I, am not the type to make eye contact. It’s embarrassing (laughs). Even if there was a female that I was interested in, I couldn’t appeal myself [to her]. Ah, but if we were about 100m apart then I might be able to send her eye contact! (YJ: That isn’t eye contact ok (laughs)] YJ: Don’t even say eye contact, I think I’d be so embarrassed that I can’t even look at them. So, I’ll go somewhere that I can glance at them unnoticed (laughs). Even if there was someone I was interested in, I couldn’t appeal myself to them nor get closer either.  JU: I don’t think I’ll look at them. (HC: You don’t think you’re looking, but you end up keeping your eyes on them unknowingly right~?) Ah~ That may happen too. Hmm, let’s see... Honestly, I’m not sure what type I am.  ZL: Let’s see... Rather than giving small glances and sending eye contact, I think I’m the type to adapt and change depending on what sort of person they are.
