I know people are a bit underwhelmed by the Avatrice Bed Scene script but Simon did say it wasn’t anything major. Just a scene of them waking up in the morning. 😊

Here are some points I found nice:

- AVATRICE SHARING A BED (Even though we all knew this, but it’s nice to have confirmation)

- Bea being an early bird, staring at the ceiling as she lays there next to Ava

- Bea taking a moment to look at a sleeping Ava 🥰

- Bea could’ve gotten up but she stayed laying in bed just to wait for Ava to wake up 🥹

- Ava dragging herself out of bed (obviously not an early bird)

- Ava commenting about how the church could’ve given them a better apartment to live in (even though we know she secretly loves that lil’ apartment)

- Ava cursing and Bea being too tired to scold her for it but does it anyway and saying the word “ass” in the process

- Bea teasing Ava about the upcoming training

All in all, I still loved it. It had me looking forward to something Warrior Nun related and I’ve missed that feeling. Having to try and save a show can take a bit of a toll. So, thank you Simon! I’m looking forward to more WN goodies. ❤️

Hephaestus

God of blacksmiths , craftsmen, fire, metal, sculpture and volcanoes

The freedom of imperfections was the most tempting drug.

But the oh so incessant need to prove himself was stronger. Prove that he was the best student, the best swordsman, the best dragon-rider, the best.

He still remembers the night. The horrendous night when he had to forcefully accept an entire part of him taken away by the blade. It wasn’t intentional, it wasn’t the action of the most renowned of swordsmen. It was simply a boy clumsily trying to defend his brother. And he let that scar him forever. He let that be the cause of this damned imperfection. 

“The flesh will heal..but the eye is lost, your grace.”

Nothing healed. Too much was lost. All his pride was stripped away as he sat in front of the fire, surrounded by strangers, bloodied scar, ruined boy.

So ruinous in fact, no one would dare let him forget the shame of weakness. Forever etched to his name,  “Aemond-One Eye”.

It was hard to think back when exactly he was fascinated by the sapphire. Perhaps his sister’s gowns? His brother’s chalices? His mother’s vault? All gone to history now. 

But he does remember the nights spent in the library, desperate to find every bit of information he could about the jewel. Desperate to know all he could, desperate to think of it as his own.

He read upon all the hours artisans and jewel-makers take to carve the gem to be one of a kind. He read of it symbolising education and intelligence. He read of its perfection. Not for him. For his weakness.

The weakness he had to see upon a mirror every day. The missing piece of the puzzle, the hole in his face. It served as a reminder of what he was, what he let himself become in that moment, why he will never submit like that again. He shoved a stolen sapphire into the socket and winced. 

The sharp edges hurt, like a million different needles stuck inside his eye. Good, he presumed. If that was what it took to remind himself of the consequences of the drug, then so be it. 

Yet through all the pains and striving he had forced himself through, he would never get the true prize of their house. The position that commands the city.

 He deserved it more than anyone else. He let himself think it wasn’t ego but simply his right. He was capable of the name of king and yet they hand it off to a man who would rather run away and drown in his cups like a bumbling fool. 

Fire of his house blazed inside him at every turn, knowing his fate. There are several great students all across the realm, several skilled swordsmen, yet there was only one king. 

But his hopes were dashed all the same. 

All he will ever be remembered as was the second son who let himself lose an eye. 

“Do not mourn me, mother. I may have lost an eye..but I gained a dragon”

His one source of pride.

When Vhagar flew through the winds of King’s Landing, the gusts of wind, what he could make out of the people’s murmurs, the low roars of the beast, he felt.. powerful. He felt royal, like a king. The only time he would let himself feel as such. 

Their bond wasn’t created as quickly as Sunfyre with Aegon or as easily as Dreamfyre with Helaena. It took, surprisingly, silence. Both man and beast were at their best in silence.

They were lonely, isolated from the dragon pit and the Keep. 

He often went back to the memory of visiting her the morning after he was maimed. 

She acknowledged him with a low growl and then both of them sat still. 

He remembered crying, as much as he could and then going back to his books like nothing happened.

Against each other and in the hours that passed, they formed something which could bring the Red Keep to its feet. 

Vhagar was the closest thing he could call his own. Not because he could control the dragon; no, far from it; but because he and her were too alike. Alike in a way, he had never let himself feel with another human. Vhagar had several riders through her life, he was sure but he let himself think that perhaps, she feels the connection to him as he does to her. Because this and whatever life may put on his path, whatever he may be inked as in the books of history, they’ll always remember that he rode Vhagar.

 The Queen of all dragons. The ride of someone who desired to be King. 

Till death claimed his end.

A moment later, both dragons crashed into the lake, the collision sending up a gout of water as high as the Kingspyre Tower at Harrenhal. Neither man could have survived.

Ghost. Mostly people make him a borderline (or straight up) abusive asshole, who’s toxic as fuck and has none of the qualities he did in the game. They make him the worst person imaginable when in actuality he’s literally just a guy in the game, a little reserved but he’s not some dick who’s going to shove you and hurt you on purpose or be rude to you

Graves. Like before I didn’t hate him but I certainly didn’t like him but now I hate him. It’s the fact that people in the fandom treat him like he’s a victim, like he’s not someone who committed mass murder on an entire city looking for Soap and Ghost while also mocking the people who he was actively murdering? They try to make him like sympathetic but not every villain needs to be that way, sorry but we don’t need that for every bad guy.

He’s a piece of shit and you’re allowed to like him but don’t make him out to be some kind of victim when he’s not

Also, I don’t hate König, but the fact that a lot of people replace Gaz with him and also infantilize him because he has social anxiety is annoying as fuck. As someone who has social anxiety it’s definitely not like how people portray it in their fics and it just annoys me. Idk the character doesn’t annoy me but the character portrayed the way in fandom does

okay okay but i just need to mention one little thing:

fan site dynamics work like this: twitter reacts first, usually dramatically, thinks later. tumblr thinks first, analyses to see exactly what we're working with here, puts it in perspective with their YEARS of experience in this fandom, then reacts.

therefore if you're coming here from twitter, you should have that in mind, as well as keep in mind a few guidelines that worked great for me as someone who lurked around fandom since 2013 and only got REALLY involved in quarantine:

1) RESEARCH PEOPLE RESEARCH. i don't care if you've been part of fandom on twitter for five years, tumblr has so much more information. on absolutely everything. and it all comes back pretty frequently in some way or another. so, to avoid making the Knowledgeable Veteran Larries want to smash their heads into a wall at every "wait what happened in xxx?" message they get even though they've discussed it 1000 times already, just do your research. @larrytimelines has, as you guessed it, timelines for shit that happened over the years so that may be a good start. otherwise, @daisiesonafield-blog has a very well organised blog (how, i don't know, lowkey suspect she's a witch) so just look through her many useful tags for larry resources and you should be good to go for a nice long while.

2) don't come here thinking you know better than the people that have been around for 10 years. that's the main one. it's as simple as that. these people have lived through the worst stunts, they've seen it all, they know what they're talking about. they know better.

3) if you're gonna be ageist you can fuck off. i've lost count of how many people on twitter have said that after 25, you shouldn't be a part of fandom anymore. you do not lose your interests as you get older. if i see you being ageist anywhere in my or others' blogs consider yourself blocked because i do not have the mental stability to handle idiotic children (and i promise you that it's possible to not be asshole to people older than you. at 19 i'm a baby larrie here and i get along with the veterans just fine so you can do it too, it's really not that hard to be respectful)

4) don't be a dick. don't judge people for liking or doing things that you wouldn't like or do. most recent example is the hs3 leak. don't wanna listen? don't. blacklist the HS3 LEAK and HS3 SPOILER tags and just get on with your life. do not be a dick to people who choose to listen to it.

5) before sending an ask to a blog asking about something, scroll for a bit to check if they haven't answered that question already. or check their blog for key words related to that subject. AND DON'T USE PEOPLE'S ASK BOXES AS GOOGLE SERIOUSLY IT'S ANNOYING WE'RE NOT GONNA FEED YOU EASY-ACCESS INFORMATION ON A SILVER PLATTER YOU CAN GET UP AND GO GET IT YOURSELF (that one is particularly annoying to watch so i can only imagine how it feels to get them) (I just make one tiny distinction: if you've genuinely tried looking for the information on Google, on other blogs, etc. then it's okay to ask for help, or to ask if they have any tips on how to better find the information you're looking for, I just get really pissed when people ask things without even trying to find the information themselves.)

6) go look at just general tumblr do's and don'ts. take the time to do it. tumblr is not twitter we do not work the same way and i don't want my beloved hellsite to get like twitter, as fun as it is at times.

I've been staring at this for five minutes trying to figure out if you're joking but I gotta get this out. I'm (clearly) a big Bees shipper, but BlackSun is *not* a bad ship. Bees are canon, but that doesn't mean go out of your way to crap on other people's ships that don't align with your own. I've never personally shipped it, but I never hated it - it's a show, and as a fandom we're entitled to our individual preferences. If people find enjoyment in BS, why should that bother you? I get a lot more happiness from interacting with parts of the show I enjoy, rather than going out of my way to engage in the parts I don't like. Discussing elements of the show and your interpretations are fine, but throwing shade at shippers is so weird. If you don't like BlackSun, then don't engage with that side of the fandom, but don't bother the fans that do. BS shippers should absolutely still be able to enjoy their ship without weird takes like this trying to invalidate it and them. Don't be that person. You'll get much more enjoyment out of being an enjoyer rather than going out of your way to be an 'anti-shipper'. Just chill.

If the video in question is unrelated to the person's gender at all, why comment on it that its giving you some kind of gender vibes? Maybe don't assume that about a person based on just their appearance. I thought we understood that by now. I still feel like Mike believes/believed he was in love with El but couldn't say it for reasons that he didn't even know exactly and was just starting to understand truly during s4 (he was scared of saying a lie because he wasn't sure, he was scared of growing closer to El just for El to realize he's a nerd and leave him because the relationship doesn't make him feel secure, he was scared of his feelings for Will and was blocked by them because he couldn't say that to El when he had feelings for Will at the same time and they seemed to even be stronger and were super scary because he's a boy) but then Will had to put himself in the middle of it and made him super confused and made him think again that he did love El because he felt love for the words that Will said and then Will made him say the monologue (+ the pressure of El dying, + the confirmation in his mind that Will doesn't love him) and Mike is currently confused because yeah he said it but nothing got fixed and it didn't even feel like he said something romantic tbh (because he meant all of that in a platonic way without realizing it really)

and I also feel like all of this couldn't be if he wasn't at least, at one point, a bit attracted to El... because he's confusing the type of love only mainly because of that, because he does like El and women and he does even love her (platonically) but he's not in love

I think this, not because this couldn't happen to gay people irl because it can of course!!! but because in the context of this being a Tv show things are usually written in the more linear and straightforward way they can have with still having complexity so I think they are doing that...

in real life you do have so many little complexities in the complexity and it makes sense

but in tv shows if they do stuff like that they show it before in a more clear way for everyone because you have to bring the audience along with the story and this is not a book where you can read Mike's thoughts so they should have done more for showing it... what's right now in the canon is not enough because remember that basically all of the GA thinks he's straight, not even queer and yeah many of them are blinded by heteronormativity in part... but the milkvan scenes are there, the relationship is there and is treated as a real relationship even if it's not a good one, if they wanted to tell another story, I'm sorry to say this, but they didn't do enough with the camera/scenes to make it credible in all the past seasons

I feel like they should have not included MANY of the scenes with El if they wanted to go with the other option of Mike knowingly lying & being gay or just believing he has a crush because of comphet

they framed stuff in a way to make it romantic between Mike and El (exactly like they framed stuff to make it romantic between Mike and Will in season 4 and even before with the shed monologue and the hand holding) but they didn't do that for Robin and Steve because they never zoomed on stuff to straightbait for them, the audience did all the work for them!

also they publicized the milkvan ship online and in interviews for years... to me that's a bit of a weird choice if milkvan was not a real relationship but it was always based on a lie, it wouldn't be straightbait it would feel like retcon tbh exactly like saying that Mike has no feelings for Will would feel like retcon after all the stuff they put in the show!!!

and also so many other things that Mike says and does during the show would be really random as writing choices if he didn't actually have a crush on her at some point

personally to me it makes more sense with the whole context if he just confused infatuation with true love because he's 14 and he's now slowly going to realize Will Byers is the one making him feel in love
