Anyway, at the end of the day, all Felix really wanted was to be seen as a normal guy.
It's his motovation for going out to all of the bars and parties and why he decided to pierce his eyebrow.
It's also why he gets so upset when Oliver decides to start cleaning his room at Oxford for him. At home (Saltburn), he has people catering to his every need and want; even things that he can do himself.
And when he was telling Oliver that they dress for dinner, be seemed to be a bit embarassed about this fact. His head was down and he kind of mumbled, "Yeah, it's like, black tie."
The activities that he and the others did during that summer were as typical and normal as it got for him, even though they were all doing these activities within the estate of a lavious mansion.
Last but not least, while he was certainly upset with Oliver for lying about everything, I think that he was more upset at the fact that Oliver had the regular, more "typical" life that he has secretly always dreamed of.
While it is clear that Oliver's fake sob story is what drew Felix to him in the first place, I strongly believe that he still would have been intrested in Oliver just to get a taste of normalacy. He also probably would have still invited Oliver to Saltburn, but not out of pity or sorrow. He would have invited him to show him what his life is really like and how lonely it can get sometimes. He would have wanted to show Oliver how grateful he should be to not have to live with the burden of the massive estate, the gobs of money, and the almost unmanagable expectations that were given to him from day one.
In conclusion, while I completly understand why he had to die, I also wanna say that he so deserved to have this nomal, salt-of-the-Earth type life!!!

hey hello hi. after reading a few asks i wanted to see what your opinion on the Sarah X Katherine ship. some people like and hate it- and it’s undoubtedly an 100% fandom invention due to them not even sharing the same media and it being implied they don’t even exist in each other’s universes (Davey’s Family is kept vague in the musical and pulitzer is much more based upon the real life one in the movie who didn’t have a daughter at the time) and idk.
it’s a long running fandom consistency i see of wlw parings getting sidelined or made of convince, and it’s hard to dispute them because in fandom spaces it’s hard enough to get a good wlw pair, and even it’s stretching it a whole lot here. especially with them both bing jack’s love intrests in cannon, feels like a “oh what do we do with them?” to make way for him usually being shipped with Davy or Cruchie.
i don’t think it’s an active type of ignorance by most fans at all but it’s not just newsies- it’s in a lot of spaces that ususally have queer relationships as a main fandom focus, and like in the Sprace post- lots of people have a point their mind for those queer relationships and them not being white mlm ususally with specific body and personality types it can be difficult to get real attention for it or justify it’s existence.
sorry for the rambling on, would love to hear someone elses’s stance.
I MEANT TO ANSWER THIS WEEKS AGO (or whenever this was sent)
send me asks dudes! what’s up!
you honestly are correct. it is so common in fandom spaces as a whole to consistently center mlm ships based around a piece of media’s text and then put the women elsewhere- often into a wlw relationship for diversity win points. and this is so true for katherine and sarah in favor of centering javid mainly.
but what i think is the most annoying part isn’t the fact that they’re put together—because honestly they’re a fun pair based on their personalities in newsies.. sarah can be both gentle and quite to the point while katherine is sharp and a bit messy—it is that they are sidelined. katherine, who is literally one of the main characters of newsies like more than davey in terms of plot, and sarah, who was the literal one woman in newsies 1992. they are both genuinely interesting characters that objectively mattered a lot in their respective versions of newsies (YES SARAH MATTERED… she spread the children’s crusade further through the city’s more general workforce and helped print it). they have very clear personalities and impacts. and they often just poof away in favor of “the boys” or whatever which is very. old fashioned.
i think sarah and kath can be a “forced” wlw pair and work because they as characters work well— also because the writing of newsies is honestly weak when pairing each of them with jack, like the context we as fans have of them with jack is… not very exciting compared to jack’s extensive and more arced relationship with davey within the context for example. but if you pair newsbians for the sole purpose of like. making them go away. then what the actual fuck. you know. because then that really is only seeing mlm ships as what fandom should center or “be about”. and that doesn’t mean more fics have to be About newsbians (though. i mean. yeah), but when they’re a couple in a fic it should be less of a throwaway like easter egg thing…. because those are two literal prominent characters in the World of newsies so it’d be weird to put them away.
yeah🤝

Carewyn’s Outfit Inspiration // Diego’s Outfit Inspiration // Inspiration for the Artwork and Gif’s Visuals in Particular
x~x~x~x
Veruca McQuaid @ariparri would not be the first person to wonder, upon meeting the King and Queen of Hearts, how they ended up as co-monarchs. The two truly were complete opposites, personality-wise -- Diego was flashy, sociable, optimistic, laidback, and outgoing, while Carewyn was modest, proud, methodical, uptight, and perfectionistic. And yes, when they first collided at university, those personality differences did make it hard for them to see eye to eye, at first.
At the start of her first term, Carewyn had only just gotten off the train from the Country of Spades, crossing the border into the Kingdom of Hearts so as to attend the university on the far-off coastline. Truthfully Carewyn wouldn’t have minded going to school back at home...but with how things were going back home, she, her brother, and her mother had all decided they should leave. With the roads out of town closing one by one, however, the best way to do that ended up being to find covert ways for them to all leave one by one, rather than try to aggressively make a break for it all together. Carewyn’s opening, it so happened, ended up being her acceptance to the university across the border in the Kingdom of Hearts; soon Lane would be accepted for a work visa for the museums there and be able to join her, and Jacob would follow after. And, Carewyn tried to reassure herself, this arrangement probably was better in the long run -- earning recognition and a good education from such a well-regarded university as the one in the Kingdom of Hearts could only make it easier for her to achieve her dreams. She wanted to know all about the law in various parts of Cinderhaven -- perhaps then she could achieve some real good for others.
The most popular freshman in Carewyn’s year ended up being Diego Caplan, the third of six heirs to the most well-regarded winery in all of Cinderhaven. Before long the music and dance major won over the vast majority of his peers with his amiability and charm -- the new transfer student from the Country of Spades, however, was kind of bewildered by him. His overdramatic way of speaking and grandiose body language...it almost made her want to laugh, it was so theatrical.
Is this how all people around here act? Carewyn couldn’t help but wonder to herself.
They didn’t seem to -- honestly, most of the students Carewyn had met thus far had given her the side eye, when she arrived. She strongly suspected it was due to her attire -- she’d worn her black dress because it was the nicest one she had, but she supposed, it did look a bit austere compared to many of the other dresses she saw her classmates wearing. Carewyn wished she’d had enough money to buy something pretty like that...
Diego, for his part, greeted the transfer with his usual charms -- which, in this case, ended up being a theatrical monologue proclaiming to the other far less friendly students the value of welcoming new people and faces and celebrating their unique and diverse beauty. And the Kingdom of Hearts does esteem beauty -- beauty and love, above all things -- and this maiden was certainly both brilliant and beautiful, was she not? Therefore, she was more than a proper fit, for their university.
Carewyn couldn’t help but raise her eyebrows, listening to Diego prattle on. She could tell that this guy was trying to be helpful -- but the way he gushed about her when he didn’t even know her seemed incredibly disingenuous to Carewyn. And when the crowd had dispersed, she was sure to tell him that, very quietly but firmly.
“Thank you for thinking of standing up for me...but truly, it’s not necessary. I intend to prove myself on my own merits...so please, withhold your compliments until they are sincere.”
Diego was utterly horrified by the suggestion. He’d been nothing BUT sincere! (He always was, when it came to complimenting people!) Carewyn, however, seemed to completely dismiss this as she strode off across the grounds toward her first class.
“Don’t be ridiculous. I’ve done nothing worth praising yet.”
She would, though, Carewyn thought to herself. She would. And when she did, she’d finally be someone she could be proud of being -- someone who could do good for others and help people, in a way only she could.
She would be truly great.

I don't know if you ever watched Interview with the Vampire from 1994, but they did a new series more loyal to the books and I really think it's your kind of ship. A lonely Lestat seduces Louis, they both fall in love and he turns him into a vampire, but Louis struggles to keep his humanity. Both have a complicated relationship. It is romantic, tragic and gay. I see a lot of people comparing it to nbc Hannibal. :)
Thanks for the rec, I actually have been watching it and I'm definitely enjoying it! And yeah lol the 94 movie is also one of my all time faves, though I do think the show is objectively an improvement in many ways so far. The Hannibal comparison is also v apt because Fuller has said that he was partly inspired by Interview with the Vampire when it came to hannigram lol, and you can definitely tell.
