Bobcat kitten brothers by Jamie Felton Via Flickr: These two bobcat siblings paused along the brush line, among the cypress knees for a second, deciding if its safe to come out and play with the others. Taken December 2 . I have not had another chance to see them again, but I have many more photos . I hope I wont get boring, posting a few more. But they were just so rare to see in the wild, I cant help myself. Again the lighting conditions were horrible for photographing fast moving little kittens. Please view large here: View On Black

Entertainment Spotlight: Gijs Blom, Letter For The King
Dutch actor and director Gijsbrecht ‘Gijs’ Thijmen Matthias Blom, who plays Prince Viridian in Letter For The King, is no stranger to being on camera (and in battle scenes). Before starring in Letter For The King, Gijs played dozens of roles across film and television, both in Europe and the United States. He can next be seen starring alongside Tom Felton in the Dutch film The Forgotten Battle, slated to premiere later this year. We got the chance to ask Gijs about Letter For The King, celebrity chefs, and more. Check it out:
If Letter For The King was a video game, what would some of the side quests be?
Fight the horse, and there would be a pretty epic final battle.
Tumblr media
Can you tell us about a time that you bombed in an audition?
I remember doing an audition once, but it was a self-tape, and I got the email with instructions to “do it as plain as possible.” I thought that was about the acting. I didn’t understand it, but I just gave them the lines [deadpan], and then I figured out that the instructions were about the accent. I don’t think we ever actually sent the tape in. I hope not.
Are there any scenes from the show that you saw and immediately had a feeling that audiences would love it? Without any spoilers, can you tell us about it?
There’s a really fun sequence when we’re high up in the mountains, and there’s a huge avalanche. It’s really funny and really fun to watch.
Are you a superfan of anything?
I love Harry Potter. And, it’s not fiction, but I would freak out if I met Jamie Oliver [the celebrity chef]. I’m a fan.
Thanks for taking the time, Gijs! Letter For The King is now streaming on Netflix.

MY THREE SONS at 60!
September 29, 1960
Tumblr media
“My Three Sons” was a situation comedy produced at Desilu Studios. It premiered on ABC TV on September 29, 1960 and finished its first run on April 13, 1972, with 380 episodes making it the second-longest running live-action sitcom in TV history after “The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriett” (1952-66).
Tumblr media
Seasons 1 through 5 were aired in black and white on CBS. In 1965 it moved to CBS when ABC declined to underwrite the costs of airing in color. The series was initially filmed at Desilu Studios in Hollywood, but at the start of the 1967–68 season, the cast and crew began filming the series at the CBS Studio Center in Studio City, California due to Lucille Ball’s sale of Desilu to Gulf + Western, which owned Paramount Pictures. The sale also affected the filming location of another family sitcom, “Family Affair.”
Incredibly, “My Three Sons” ran concurrently through both “The Lucy Show” and “Here’s Lucy.” Both Steve Douglas and Lucy Carmichael (and later Carter), where single parents raising children.
Tumblr media
September 16, 1965 was a big night for CBS airing the very first episode of “My Three Sons” after moving from ABC titled “The First Marriage”. It was also the first episode of the series broadcast in color, something “The Lucy Show” did three days earlier with “Lucy at Marineland” (TLS S4;E1). The premise of the series is a widowed father (Steven Douglas) raising his three boys with help of his extended family. Initially, the three sons were Chip, Robbie, and Mike, but in 1967 Mike was written out and replaced by Ernie, whom Steve adopted. The extended family at first consisted of Bub, Steve’s father-in-law and the boys’ maternal grandfather, but in 1964, that character was replaced by Uncle Charley, Steve’s uncle and Bub’s brother.
Tumblr media
The leading role was played by film star Fred MacMurray, who the series was built around - including his hectic schedule. To suit MacMurray, scenes would be shot out of sequence and even alone on a soundstage and later edited to create a complete episode. This was not MacMurray’s first time at Desilu. In 1958 he played himself on the “Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour” in “Lucy Hunts Uranium” set in the Nevada desert outside Las Vegas. He was joined by his second wife, actress June Haver. MacMurray (1908-91) appeared in over 100 films in his career but is perhaps best remembered for the film Double Indemnity (1944), which Lucy references in this episode. MacMurray’s name was first mentioned by Ethel in 1953 in “The Black Eye” (ILL S2;E20) when flowers arrive for Lucy mistakenly signed “Eternally yours, Fred.”
Although Lucille Ball was their landlord (and ultimate boss) she never acted on the show, but many of the actors who appeared on Lucille Ball’s sitcoms did appear on “My Three Sons”.
Tumblr media
From 1960 to 1965, MacMurray was joined by William Frawley as Bub O’Casey, the family’s live-in maternal grandfather. Of course, Frawley came to fame on “I Love Lucy” as the crusty landlord Fred Mertz. Frawley had worked with MacMurray in the 1935 film, Car 99. When Frawley had to leave the show due to ill-health (and it was too costly to insure him) he was replaced by another Desilu alumni, William Demarest, as Uncle Charley. Like his previous co-star, Vivian Vance, Frawley was not especially fond of Demarest personally or as an actor. Demarest had, however, done three films with Lucille Ball. Frawley kept watching “My Three Sons” on his TV set bitterly. He never really got over being replaced by Demarest. On March 3, 1966, Frawley died of a heart attack.
Tumblr media
For Christmas 1959, Frawley and Demarest both appeared with Lucy and Desi in “The Desilu Revue” (above with “December Bride’s” Spring Byington). At the time, Demarest was working on the Desilu lot appearing in NBC’s “Love and Marriage.”
Tumblr media
On “My Three Sons” two of Steve Douglas’ boys had been seen on “The Lucy Show”: Don Grady (Robbie Douglas) had played Chris Carmichael’s friend Bill and Barry Livingston (Ernie Douglas) had played Mr. Mooney’s son Arnold. Ted Eccles, who assumed the role of Arnold Mooney when Barry Livingston was busy on “My Three Sons,” also did an episode.
Tumblr media
The children of “The Lucy Show,” Ralph Hart (who played Viv Bagley’s son Sherman), Jimmy Garrett (Jerry Carmichael), and Candy Moore (Lucy Carmichael’s daughter Chris) were also on episodes of "My Three Sons.”

On November 22, 1977, ABC TV (and Dick Clark Productions) brought together a reunion of two of television's favorite sitcoms "The Partridge Family" and "My Three Sons." Hosted by Shirley Jones and Fred MacMurray this would be the only time that the surviving cast members would get together to celebrate the series which included clips, a song from David Cassidy, and an update of what each cast member was doing in 1977.
Tumblr media
Also in 1977, some of the stars of the series reunited on a morning program titled "The Early Show", including Stanley Livingston (Chip Douglas), Barry Livingston (Ernie Douglas), Tina Cole (Katie Miller Douglas), and Don Grady (Robbie Douglas).

Harry Potter Cast - Then & Now (Part 1) (Part 2)
So I know there’s a lot of these out here, hell I saw one today on Facebook, that video was also partly the reason to why I decided to make it, as Bonnie was featured in a bathing suit, Evanna was even the wrong person they featured , and it looked like something out of an underwear fashion magazine, and off course Matthew was featured in just abs and briefs because of his shoot with Attitude and the Longbottom effect (Don’t mind the look, but it’s the only one I’ve seen of him for a long time now). Well decided to make another one of these that extends to most of the cast, and this is the first one out of the two.
Click the photos for names for the actor and character in case you’re in doubt.

People who you two are jealous of
Him: Tom Felton, You love the Harry Potter. When you two met, your lock screen was a photo of him shirtless and your home screen was a GIF of him. When you two met, you were just starting off in your career. Now you are big and well known, you get gigs left and right. You go to every comic con that you can, that will have a Harry Potter cast member. Your biggest dream is to go to one where Tom will be and meet him.
You: Jaime Levit, Ricky has been friends with Jamie for a long time now. You know he is loyal and wont cheat, but for some reason you cant trust HER. You've tried so hard to not be jealous, but you cant help it. When ever they are hanging out, you have to hold back the urge to text him every 5 minutes.

13 Harry Potter Stars Then and Now
Tumblr media
"13 Harry Potter Stars Then and Now" If you’re a potterhead, you’ll agree that Harry Potter introduced us to the world of magic like no other book before it had done so. We had been hooked to the books, and we grew to love the movies too as they were released one after the other. It’s hard to believe that the first Harry Potter movie had come out in 2001 that was almost 19 years ago! Throughout the 7 movies we saw our favorite HP stars grow from children to teenagers, and then young adults. We lost track of them after the movies ended and those children that starred in the first harry potter movie all grew into smoking hot adults. Listed up in this post are more than 13 photos of Harry Potter stars as gorgeous adults. Scroll on and enjoy peeps. 1Daniel Radcliffe

The Onion's chief: Nothing funny about taking away kids from parents
New Post has been published on http://funnythingshere.xyz/the-onions-chief-nothing-funny-about-taking-away-kids-from-parents/
The Onion's chief: Nothing funny about taking away kids from parents
Over the past 20 years, Chad Nackers has seen the rise of hypocritical statements, those irony-free assertions in which the entire universe yells, “That sounds like a headline from ‘The Onion’” — but isn’t.
The Onion’s editor-in-chief has always tried to mix the straight yuks with the knowing punch of satire, a similar challenge to the nation’s editorial cartoonists.
“We haven’t really changed anything we do,” Nackers said in an interview Monday, “but the world has been much crazier and absurd, and that’s what people should be worried about.”
Like Rob Rogers, the well-respected Pittsburgh Post-Gazette cartoonist fired after criticizing Trump, Nackers sees little humor in the Trump administration’s separation of children from their parents along the border. (Editors’ note: The Monday afternoon effort just hurts).
“There’s nothing funny about what’s going on,” Nackers says. For The Onion, that means “it’s a satirical commentary on things, rather than ‘let’s laugh about it.’”
One of its most cited examples of such biting commentary is the headline (below) that The Onion has used after every school schooling since 2014.
“Part of the reason for the repetition,” Nackers says, is that “nothing is changing, so you’re getting the same headline.”
God forbid if you are in The Onion’s sights.
Last week, Nackers loosed the hounds on Facebook, with which The Onion built an audience of 6.5 million — now only actually accessible if The Onion pays Facebook to send it to The Onion’s fans, Nackers says. That “betrayal” of loyal customers, Nackers says, comes as Facebook sold out America in the 2016 elections to the Russians “for such little money, in Facebook terms.”
On Thursday and Friday, the site published about a dozen “articles” about Facebook, including one written in the perspective of Mark Zuckerberg’s daughter:
On Monday, Nackers launched an interactive piece called OnionSocial.com, with requisite articles touting the site’s world-leading popularity, genital recognition software and a 15-year-old MIT dropout CEO who, The Onion claims, is now dating Zuckerberg’s wife.
Nackers says he has not heard from Facebook. Frankly, he said, he’d rather train users to go to theonion.com or subscribe to its newsletter.
The newsletter can give you the latest headlines and presents it like a mini-publication, he said. Upon reflection, he added: “I’d rather just put five of them out every day.”
Quick hits
IT’S HIS: Billionaire Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong spoke to the Los Angeles Times newsroom after the deal with Tronc closed on Monday, announcing that Norman Pearlstine would be the executive editor. Pearlstine, a former top editor at Time Inc., Bloomberg and The Wall Street Journal, had been consulting with Soon-Shiong since April, researching the paper and meeting 70-some current and former staffers. The previous editor, Tronc’s Jim Kirk, chose to leave rather than take a lesser job at the paper. Jeff Light will remain publisher and editor of The San Diego Union-Tribune.
TRONC FINALLY REALIZES IT HAS A STUPID NAME: That’s the New York Post headline on the company’s decision to return to its previous name, Tribune Publishing. (At least it’s not IHOB.)
BACK ON AIR: At first his voice diminished to a squeak. Then it was gone entirely. Cox reporter Jamie Dupree had been working on the radio since the Reagan administration but suddenly couldn’t speak. A text-to-speech technology company crafted a new voice for Dupree: software that turns his typed sentences into spoken words. And it’s similar to his old voice; the company used audio recordings of his work to create it, the Associated Press’ Brinley Hineman reports.
BOOST OR BOOSTED?: CJR reports some complaints about Facebook’s Community Boost conferences.
BETTER LIFE LAB: Economists say the way we work has become so stressful it’s the fifth leading cause of death. How do we get better? That’s the purpose of a new Slate podcast by Brigid Schulte, the author of “Overwhelmed,” a former Washington Post reporter and now director of the New America’s Better Life Lab. Although work is so stressful and conditions are often hazardous, few want to change it and “no one wants to quit,” James Pfeffer, a Stanford business professor, says in the first episode, which came out Friday.
WHY SO WHITE?: A review has found 750 charter schools with a pupil population that is far whiter than the district itself. Loose laws, writes Emmanuel Felton of the Hechinger Report, let scores of the publicly-funded charters create policies that favor white students. Those policies include items as prosaic as only allowing for bus transportation from white neighborhoods, Felton found. Editors: Is that the case in districts in your area?
What we’re reading
BOB DOLE’S FINAL MISSION: On Saturdays, the 94-year-old former senator travels to his usual spot: a shady place just outside the main entrance to the World War II National Memorial in Washington. From there, settled into his wheelchair, the recognition of him — and his service to the public — begins. By Steve Hendrix for The Washington Post.
VOTING FOR A CHANGE: Sick of corruption and sick of Donald Trump, Mexico turns its presidential hopes toward Andrés Manuel López Obrador, a leftist maverick. Former U.S. Ambassador Roberta Jacobson says she is unclear what type of policy changes he will make, but his economic circumstances stand apart from his rich predecessor. After she was appointed in 2016, she first met him at his unremarkable two-story townhouse in Tlalpan, a middle-class district in Mexico City. “If part of the point was to show me how modestly he lived, he succeeded,” she told The New Yorker’s Jon Lee Anderson.
THE PHOTO THAT BROKE HIS HEART: Photographer John Moore is a veteran journalist, but still had to catch his breath after a moment when a Border Patrol agent moved his hands across a 2-year-old Honduran girl’s mom, who the U.S. would separate from her. The girl immediately began screaming. “I wanted to stop her crying,” The Washington Post quoted Moore as saying.
What we’re hearing
THE VOICES OF THE CHILDREN AT THE BORDER: This audio recording catches the sobs and cries of kids who have had their parents taken away in what Laura Bush has called President Trump’s cruel, immoral, heart-breaking policy. The children inside a U.S. Customs and Border Protection facility are 4 to 10 years old. The person who recorded it “heard the children’s weeping and crying, and was devastated by it,” Ginger Thompson and ProPublica reported.

Bobcat kitten hide and seek by Jamie Felton Via Flickr: THE HIDER, peeking around a cypress tree ( The seeker kitten is below ) Isn't it awesome how God designed babies of all species to have such a look about them that even us hard headed humans can look at them and want to protect them? Isn't it also awesome how God gave them a second layer of protection we like to call camouflage? And that third, yet probably most effective layer of protection; Claws and teeth. Their mothers and their own ! I did not enhance the blue of its eyes, they really are that color, although one kitten has greener eyes than these.

The Atlantic Daily: Stopgap Deal, Risky Diplomacy, Grown-Ups' Grandparents
What We’re Following
Open for the Public: Lawmakers have reached a deal to fund the government for three more weeks after disagreements over the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, defense spending, and other matters led to a three-day shutdown over the weekend. Senate Democrats had been holding out for DACA protections in particular, but Monday’s agreement included only a promise to debate such legislation before the next funding deadline, leaving immigration advocates disappointed. For their part, Republicans are claiming a “Win for [the] White House,” although President Trump appeared to have very little to do with the deal.
El Salvador: The U.S. Catholic Church is pushing back against Trump’s recent decision to suspend Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Salvadorans, which has put nearly 200,000 immigrants—many of them longtime U.S. residents and active parishioners—at risk of deportation. TPS protects people who are unable to return to their home countries out of fear for their safety. The dangerous conditions in El Salvador over the past few decades have included not only a devastating earthquake, but also a bloody civil war in which the U.S. played a role.
Diplomatic Deals: On a visit to Jerusalem, Vice President Mike Pence affirmed Washington’s support of Israel and called for continued work toward peace with Palestine—yet the Trump administration’s controversial decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital may have complicated that process. Trump’s continued calls for improvements to the Iran nuclear deal likewise carry a risk of undermining the agreement. Meanwhile, North and South Korea have reached a historic breakthrough with their agreement to send a joint women’s hockey team to the Winter Olympics next month—but they’re on thin political ice.

Evening Read
Claire Berman reflects on a visit from her 20-year-old granddaughter, Rachel:
We were excited, but wary as well. It had been a long time since we’d had a young person living with us. Would we find ourselves waiting up until we heard her key in the door? What were the rules? What were our roles? And what if something should happen to her while on our watch? I found myself having dreams about my own grandmother, Bubbe Chana, who wore sensible Oxfords, smelled faintly of lavender, and would hold my hand too tightly whenever we came to a crossing. Like my bubbe, I wanted to love and protect my granddaughter. But I’d barely celebrated my eighth birthday when my grandmother died. Rachel was too old to be led by the hand.
Instead, we’d have to navigate a relationship that is more common today than it was when I was Rachel’s age. At around 70 million people, grandparents represent a bigger chunk of America’s population than ever before, according to data released by the Census Bureau. That number is expected to go even higher as more baby boomers join the senior ranks. Americans are living more than half a decade longer than they were 50 years ago, too. Many grandparents now have the ability to be in their grandchildren’s lives for many years. But how does the grandparent role change as grandchildren age?
Keep reading here, as Berman describes how she and Rachel worked things out.
What Do You Know … About Education?
Issues of sex and consent have been dominating the headlines as the “Weinstein Effect” spreads across American industries, but college campuses have been grappling with these same questions for years, and their methods could serve as a blueprint—or a warning—for today’s movement. Meanwhile, many nonwhite students in rural America don’t even see college as an option, and their enrollment rates are alarmingly low.
Can you remember the other key facts from this week’s education coverage? Test your knowledge below:

Look Back
From our August 1908 issue, Ellis Meredith quotes another leader of the women’s suffrage movement, Sarah Platt Decker, on what it means to have the right to vote:
“You can’t exactly explain why suffrage is desirable. If you were to post a notice that all the workmen of this state would be disfranchised at the next general election, you would have war and bloody war. Why? Does it make any particular difference to any individual workman whether Roosevelt or Bryan is elected? Not a particle. Then why does he want to vote? Because the vote is an indefinable something that makes you part of the plan of the world. It means the same to women that it does to men. You never ask a boy, ‘Have you closed the saloons, have you purified politics and driven all the political tricksters out of the state?’ No, you put your hand on his shoulder and you say, “To-day, my boy, you are an American citizen,’ and that is what you say to your daughter.”

Reader Response
On Friday, a reader named Dan who had voted for Trump as the “[lesser] of two evils” described his feelings of anger and disappointment as the presidency hits the one-year mark. Another reader, Anthony, writes from Virginia:
While my expectations were and continue to be low, what I did not expect was the amount of cultural stress I would feel on a daily basis since his inauguration … With the exception of the Charlottesville debacle (I am Jewish), no policy or action may have directly impacted myself, but I feel the ramifications on everyone around me … For example, I am a graduate student, and am surrounded by a strong international presence (Nepalese, Chinese, Iranian, Saudi, Peruvian, Turkish, British, Greek, and more). There is not a day that goes by where these students, who are merely here for an education, do not feel inherently threatened and unwelcome. Some have even been accosted in grocery stores to “return to their country” or asked “Why are you here?”
Carly in Galesburg, Illinois, describes a similar sense of stress:
Every day I open up the news with a renewed sick sense of dread. I’m exhausted. After I leave school I have no idea how I’ll get funding for graduate school, afford healthcare, or find decent wages. These, obviously, have never been set in stone, however, during our last presidency I was hopeful about my chances to make a good life for myself, but so much of that hope has been slashed in the past year. It’s heartbreaking; it’s worse than I ever thought it would be.

Red-Winged Blackbird chicks opening their mouths, hoping for a tasty bug the instant they hear mom or dad coming. Red-wing parents are really good at feeding their chicks. I have never seen the nestlings left hungry for long. Not only while they are in the nest, mom and dad will continue to feed and protect them for up to 5 weeks after they leave the nest too. These birds nest close to well-used walkways and are not bothered by respectful humans. http://flic.kr/p/Stmwfm
