The November issue of Music Week is all about Louis Tomlinson’s new direction.
Tumblr media
Ahead of the release of his second solo album Faith In The Future, the superstar singer/songwriter stars on the cover of our brand new issue, on sale October 18. Charlotte Gunn joins Louis in London to tell an epic story of how the Doncaster-born artist went from the fields of Leeds Festival, to The X Factor, phenomenal global success with One Direction and beyond.
After a career with Sony, Tomlinson is going indie, in every sense of the word. As well as revealing all about Faith In The Future, his first record for BMG, Tomlinson reflects candidly on his journey through the music business, talking label bosses, boy band life, mental health, the fans and how he wants to make a positive impact on the industry. The star is joined by BMG’s Alistair Norbury, Jamie Nelson and Lisa Wilkinson, plus manager Matt Vines.

☢️ PARENTAL GUIDANCE RECOMMENDED ☢️
"My happy little pill, Take me away, Dry my eyes, Bring colour to my skies, My sweet little pill, Take my hunger, Lie within, Numb my skin." ~ Happy Little Pill, Troye Sivan, 2014
"Scarlett" by Jamie Nelson, 2013
Series: Addicted
Arty-Fact: Jamie presents a collection of images displaying the glamorisation of excess consumption and the subsequent cultural addictions. This collection of images was taken over the last decade during her editorial assignments with international Vogues. Work hard play harder. Dopamine addiction is more prevalent than ever, and moreover is pushed by big pharma and big alcohol with a blatant disregard for the consumer.
What happens when our bodies max out and the substances lose staying power? Even the glamorous models will eventually deteriorate from cheating the system with "Mommy’s Little Helper”. Jamie suggests that our current dopamine addicted culture may have finally hit a wall in which living a balanced life without stimulants is no longer recommended.
Although Jamie has focused on a glamorous approach of addiction in this series, she foresees working on a future series depicting the ugly aftermath of the inevitable societal dopamine burnout.

Louis Tomlinson's Faith In The Future, his first album with BMG, has soared to Number One in the UK, his best solo chart performance yet.
In the UK, the album, Tomlinson's second solo release, sold more than twice as much as its predeccor Walls. Additionally, internationally, the album debuts at number two in Germany and Australia.
Jamie Nelson, BMG Vice President A&R UK, said: "We are all so delighted with the extraordinary results coming through for us around the world for Louis on Faith In The Future. His vision for his music has been front and centre, and we have been very focused on backing that vision. This has been a BMG team effort and when I spoke with Louis this morning, he was keen to highlight the difference he is feeling on this release, and his respect for the passion and care the BMG teams have put into this campaign."
Lisa Wilkinson, Director Marketing UK at BMG, said: "The entire UK team are absolutely thrilled with the result on Faith In The Future. We spent the last year really getting to understand Louis, his brand and most importantly his fans so we could deliver the most successful campaign he’s ever had. Suffice to say we’ve exceeded all expectations and I’m so proud of the team and how we’ve collaborated together not just domestically but with our global colleagues."
Faith In The Future has been a passion project for the singer who reveled in taking his time to get his sophomore album just right. The album is a collection of songs designed for the live environment. The first single to be released was the crowd-pleasing ‘Bigger Than Me’, quickly followed up with 'Out Of My System', and the third and final single ahead of the album release, 'Silver Tongues'. Speaking on the release of the latest pop-punk single, Tomlinson said it is “the song I'm most proud of on the record."
In 2020, Tomlinson released his million-selling smash debut solo album Walls which hit the Top Three in the UK and Top 10 in the USA. A lyrically personal album that proved he had found his feet as a solo artist, the album produced a clutch of acclaimed singles including the emotive first release ‘Two of Us’, the raucous ‘Kill My Mind’, and the reflective ‘We Made It’.
