From my only WIP: There’s Beauty When It’s Bleak (Post-Canon Slight AU Type 1 Diabetic Brian, QAF)

“About that.” Brian started but faltered. He needed her help, but even now he still struggled to ask her for it. It was hard to depend on others, no matter how much he’d destroyed his walls. “I need you to convince him to stay.”

“In Pittsburgh? I don’t think you’ll have to twist his arm, especially in your condition.” Jennifer quirked her eyebrow.

“No, New York. I’m being downgraded to weekly dialysis out-patient treatment tomorrow. It could be months before I get a new kidney. He can’t put his life on hold that long.” He gave her a look that begged her to agree with him.

“You’d rather go through all that alone rather than let him pause his dreams? Brian, that’s unreasonable and you know he will never go for it. You shouldn’t go through this alone.” Jennifer grabbed his hand.

“I will be going back to work on Monday. Dialysis for a few hours one day a week. It’s business as usual. He should go back and work on the projects he has lined up. No reason he should lose out on opportunities. Besides, he can come see me on the weekends.” Brian’s gaze bore into Jennifer’s. “If I need anything during the week I’m hardly alone. I still got you.”

I know technically it’s now Thursday, but it’s still early enough I’ll still count it as Wednesday.
