Lilah Jessica Rose (Crimes of Passion)
[Trystan Thorne x Lilah Rose Masterlist]
What's in a Name? (That which we call a Rose, by any other word would smell as sweet.)
Lilah (lie-lah) has a few meanings depending on the culture and its origin. It can be a derivation of Delilah, Leila, and Lilith. Lilah means delicate, night, and night beauty (Hebrew and Arabic). It can also mean night monster (Hebrew). Lilah also means tulip (Persian).
Jessica (jess-ih-cah) means "God Beholds" or "she will see". Jessica was first used in Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice
Rose (rohz) means a flower, a rose
Nicknames: canon nicknames + Lala (when she was younger), Veronica (as in Mars, when she started playing detective in school)
DOB: August 27 (age 32) Zodiac: Virgo Personality: logical, hardworking, observant, reliable, loyal, kind hearted, stubborn, overly independent, sometimes hypercritical and nit-picky
Love Interest: Trystan Thorne
Hair: Medium to Dark Brown, generally down with waves Eye Color: Brown Alternative Hair/Eye Color: She often wears wigs and colored contacts if she has to go undercover.
Height: 5'7" (1.7m)
FC: Troian Bellisario
Hometown: New York, NY
Parents: James "Jimmy" Rose (father ✝), Evelyn "Eve" Rose (née Mitchell) (mother)
Pets: Marple (boxer, dog)

Occupations:
Private Investigator (current)
Bartender at the Drunk Tank (current/as needed)
NYPD Homicide Unit (former)
Barista (to pay for college and her coffee addiction) (former, being a barista not the coffee addiction)
Fun Facts / Things to know
Lilah has always been observant and aware of her surroundings, even as a child she could recall details about places she'd been and people she'd met briefly.
Lilah is a coffee connoisseur. She has a deep appreciation for coffee and considers it an essential part of her daily routine. While she has her favorite roasts, bean type, and variety of order, when it comes down to it, she's not picky. Coffee is coffee and bad coffee is better than no coffee.
Lilah does not have a lot of dating experience. Once her father died, she closed herself off for a few years, and then turned her focus on the job. She takes great pride in her work and has never regretted her choice.
Lilah generally enjoys detective shows but she can't figure out if she likes the shows or just critiquing them and pointing out errors or ways the detective could have done something differently.
Lilah loves the show Psych. She thinks its outrageously ridiculous but that some how makes it even better. She doesn't even bother trying to critique it, she just went along for the ride. She does at time ask herself "how many hats are in the room?" or a similarly appropriate question to keep her mind sharp and actively observing her surroundings.
Lilah is allergic to fresh pineapple.
Lilah loves puzzles and mind teasers.
Outfit Alternatives:
Lilah's dress for the Governor's ball (COP1)
Lilah's undercover socialite outfit (COP2)

Name: Jeremiah Mitchell Braddock
Codename: Ronin
Age: 27
Species: Mutate
Fancast: Mackenyu
Hair Color: Green (dyed)
Eye Color: Hazel-Green
Physical Appearance: Jeremiah inherited his mother's natural beauty and is tall and muscular. He dyed his black hair green and adopted that as his color scheme.
Personality: Jeremiah is quiet and loyal to everyone, but can be incredibly terrifying.
Powers: Psychic weapons, double katanas, telekensis, telepathy, enhanced durability, flexibility
Relationships:
Jeffrey Mitchell: Foster father
Rachel Mitchell: Foster mother
Elizabeth "Betsy" Braddock: Biological mother
Sam Wilson: Stepfather
Zebediah Killgrave: Biological father, enemy
Brian Braddock: Uncle
Danielle Cage: Girlfriend
Trivia:
He is the biological son of Betsy and Kilgrave, but his conception was not consensual and he despises Kilgrave for assaulting his mother
Betsy made the decision to put him up for adoption but stayed in his life as best as she could while being in the X-Men
He is still close with his foster parents even after reuniting with his biological mother and choosing to stay with her permanently at the age of nineteen
His favorite color is green
Ironically his girlfriend is Danielle Cage, the daughter of another victim of Kilgrave's, Jessica Jones though her father is Luke Cage.
Jeremiah never hated Betsy for giving him up, knowing she didn't do it because she hated him.
The first time he met Kilgrave, he broke his leg and dislocated his elbow to avenge his mother.
He considers Sam to be his biological father.
He noted that Sam's color scheme, red and blue, makes purple when mixed, purple is Betsy's color scheme.
He has minor issues with directions and understanding sarcasm

SIX MAKEUP: PALETTES, EYESHADOWS, AND EYE ACCENTS
For the introduction and masterpost, click here.
PALETTES Note on brands Most of the North American queens use Juvia's Place at this point. It is a Black-owned brand that Six initially added to help create more options for queens of color, but by now most queens use it regardless of race. As of Oct 2023, most of their palettes are on-sale. Most of the UK queens use Makeup Revolution palettes, although there's quite a bit more range in which they use and some other brands in the mix.
Queen-specific palettes
Aragon: Juvia's Place Rebel Honey, Doja Cat Elements (Gold), Juvia's Place Warrior, Morphe 9R, De'Lanci Leopard, Colourpop Good as Gold, Beauty Bay Golden Age

Pink alt: Juvia's Place The Mauves, Juvia's Place Blushed Rose, Makeup Revolution Color Book, Makeup Revolution Britney, Juvia's Place The Candy Shop
Multi-queen/colored palettes:
Beauty Bay's Bright 2.0 (16 color) ($20) - Smaller, but great range with mattes and glitters for Aragon/Boleyn/Howard/Parr/orange alt
Nicka K Fifteen Color Palette ($5) - Wild Matte palette has decent options for just about every costume (principal and alternate). However, it's not as versatile in how flattering it will be on every skin tone/undertone.
LaRoc Circus ($30) - Great for Boleyn/Howard, options for Aragon/Cleves/orange and pink alt
NYX Ultimate Shadow Palette ($20) - I Know That's Bright has several good options for Aragon and Howard, as well as one or two good shades each for Boleyn/Cleves/Parr/potentially alts. - Warm Neutrals has shades that could work for Aragon and potentially Seymour/black and silver alts.
De'Lanci Mysterious Queen ($50) - This one is expensive but huge (72 colors). Very comprehensive with good colors for just about every queen and alt.
Juvia's Place Warrior 3 ($20) - best for Boleyn/Cleves/Howard/teal
Juvia's Place Wahala 2 ($36) - best for Seymour/Cleves/Parr/black/silver, with good options for Boleyn/Howard/orange too
Juvia's Place Culture ($36) - best for Boleyn/Howard/orange/pink, with good options for Parr and some silver/black alt
Juvia's Place Culture 2 ($38) - particularly good for Boleyn, but has some options for most others
Jessica Gallant's PEI Palette ($25) - Neutrals plus a base for Boleyn/Cleves/Parr
LIQUID/CREAM EYESHADOWS
MAC Paintstick ($25) Colors: Landscape Green (Boleyn), Basic Red (Cleves), Process Magenta (Howard), Marina Ultra (Parr)
Made by Mitchell Gel Glaze Cream Eyeshadow (UK link, US link) ($14) Colors: Sparky (Boleyn), For A Grey Day or Silver Fox (Seymour), For A Grey Day (Cleves) Pink Monday (Howard), Ocean Eyes or Ecliptic or Denim Dood (Parr), For a Grey Day or Silver Fox (black or silver alt), Ocean Eyes or Denim Dood or Dreaming of You (teal alt), Peachy Keen (orange alt), Sweet Beat or Peach Dusk (pink alt) - not all colors are available in every country
Danessa Myricks Colorfix Liquid Metals ($20) Colors: 24K (Aragon), Platinum (Seymour/black alt/silver alt), Gilded (orange alt)
Danessa Myricks Colorfix Foils ($20) Colors: Cosmic (Cleves), Blossom (Howard), Cosmic (black or silver alt), Mermaid (teal alt), Petals (pink alt)

Danessa Myricks Colorfix Matte ($20) Colors: Primary Yellow (Aragon), Secret Garden (Boleyn), Lift (Seymour), Primary Red (Cleves), Latte or Valentine (Howard), Primary Blue or Colbolt (Parr), Beaches (teal alt), Carrot Top (orange alt), Latte (pink alt)
Haus Labs Hy-Power Pigment Paint ($24) Colors: Charcoal Shimmer or Silver Shimmer (Seymour), Scarlet Matte (Cleves), Fuchsia Matte or Magenta Shimmer (Howard), Charcoal Shimmer or Silver Shimmer (black/silver alt)
OTHER EYE ACCENTS
Maybelline Tattoo Studio Gel Pencil ($9) Colors: Polished White or Sparkling Silver (general/Seymour/black and silver alt), Ultra Pink or Punchy Pink (Howard), Navy Bling or Deep Teal (Parr), Blue Disco or Arctic Skies (teal alt), Orange Flash (orange alt)
Fast Stroke Crystal Liner ($4) Colors: Funk (Aragon), Glitz (Seymour/silver and black alt/general highlight) - Several UK queens use this as some highlight and to fill in their glitters.
MAKEUP CRYSTALS
Designer Dust Co. Face Sparkles ($2) Colors: Green (Boleyn), White/Crystal (Seymour), Red (Cleves), Pastel Pink or Glow Pink (Howard), Blue (Parr), White/Crystal/Black (silver/black alt), Glow Blue (teal alt), Orange or Glow Orange (orange alt), Pastel Pink (pink alt) - Many of the mainland US actors use these. Keep in mind that these require a glue to apply.
Makeup Rhinestones from Amazon ($10) - I’ve seen a few of the alts use this set or a similar one. The glue is included. Has colors for all principal costumes and potentially all alt, although it depends on your preferences.

The Gilded Age's Broadway Divas: Mrs. Bruce (Celia Keenan-Bolger)
Despite having a largely underdeveloped Downstairs role in The Gilded Age, Mrs. Bruce runs the Russell household like a tight ship. From averting near-disastrous soup escapades, to catching escaped dogs in the dusty streets, she approaches her job with no-nonsense competence, all while totally unable to reach the high shelves.
Tumblr media
For the first time, Celia Keenan-Bolger (45) has broken free of her child typecast cage to play a fully grown adult with adult responsibilities and it must be such a thrill for her. Those unfamiliar with Celia may not be aware of her illustrious career playing children on Broadway as a grown adult.
In 2005, Celia (26) made her Broadway debut in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee as twelve-year-old Olive Ostrovsky, a precocious spelling bee contestant who should have won, dammit, and I'll die on that hill. In 2011, she (31) played thirteen-year-old Molly Aster in Peter and the Starcatcher, nominated for a Tony the same year as her brother Andrew Keenan-Bolger (Newsies). In 2018, she (40) starred in To Kill a Mockingbird as six-to-nine-year-old Scout Finch, for which she won a Tony. This coming spring, Celia (46) will once again be a child on Broadway as she takes on the role of Jessica Lange's teenaged daughter in Mother Play. (List non-exhaustive)
#1: "Green Finch and Linnet Birds," Sweeney Todd (2002)
youtube
In one of her earliest professional roles, Celia (24) takes on sixteen-year-old Johanna Barker, the daughter of the titular Sweeney Todd, who has become Judge Turpin's ward. This is not great for her. But the role was. Too often, this particular song gets the short end of the stick. It's long, slow, and very high, yet Celia approaches it with a controlled vibrato that makes us all sigh in relief.
The Kennedy Center production featured a fantastic cast, including Mary Beth Peil as The Beggar Woman, Broadway's Leading Man Brian Stokes Mitchell as Sweeney Todd, and our very own Agnes van Rhijn, Christine Baranski as Mrs. Lovett.
#2: The Light in the Piazza - Pre-Broadway (2003)
youtube
Before Kelli O'Hara took on the role of Clara Johnson, a young woman whose mental development stunted at age twelve after being kicked by a horse, the role belonged to Celia Keenan-Bolger (25). Ultimately, when the production moved on from Chicago, the creative team decided they wanted a Clara who was a little older. Kelli, who had been playing Francesca, the sister-in-law, was unwilling to "steal" a role from someone she considered a dear friend, but either way, Celia was out, so Kelli was in with minimal damage to their friendship, which persists today.
However. Some years later, when South Pacific was auditioning their Nellie Forbush actresses, the final three came down to Kelli O'Hara (who got it), Celia Keenan-Bolger, and Victoria Clark, who won a Tony for playing Margaret, Clara's mother, in Piazza. Talk about awkward.
#3: "The I Love You Song," The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (2005)
youtube
Losing out on Clara wasn't all thunderclouds for Celia (26). Shortly after, she landed a role in the off-Broadway production of Spelling Bee, and when it transferred to Broadway, she received her first Tony nomination.
In this scene, Olive sings the most heartbreaking and beautiful number in the entire show. It is just devastating. Up until this point, the show is a barrel of laughs, and then suddenly you're sobbing your eyes out over a lonely little girl in a bad home situation.
Will Celia Keenan-Bolger ever be allowed to play an adult again? How long until she is no longer able to play children? How did she get the role of Mrs. Bruce if she's only allowed to play kids? All questions we have no answers to.

Getting close to the end of that list now, but for the February ficlets prompt:
a charmed one with their ex bf in an unexpected situation (gen, again dealers choice of who)
Pairing: Paige Matthews & Glen Belland
Background Pairings: Paige Matthews/Henry Mitchell & Glen Belland/Jessica Belland
"Paige!"
The call was loud enough that several people looked over in annoyance, but Paige couldn't have cared less. Glen swept her into a hug while she laughed against his shoulder.
It'd been ages since she'd seen him, and so much had happened since. He seemed to agree as he pulled back, hands on her shoulders, and demanded, "You faked your death?"
"I can explain!" Paige immediately exclaimed.
"And were working for Homeland Security? When did that happen? And-" Finally noticing Henry standing behind Paige, he furrowed his brow and nodded towards him. "And whose that?"
Stepping back, Paige couldn't help her uncharacteristically shy smile as she introduced him. "Henry, this is Glen, my best friend. Glen, this is Henry. My husband."
"What?" Glen squawked.

Just a list I’ve worked on for the last few years in my drafts and never published, because why would anyone bother to do this without write-ups or statistics, without ever being asked to do it in the first place? But, it’s time to just get it out there.
Basically I judged this on: were they fun to watch, did they bring a character to the show I enjoyed, did they seem to enjoy it themselves, or did they seem to care at all?
I noticed a few patterns. My least favorite seem to be the women who showed up and didn’t really have any familiarity with the show or any interest in competing. Just up from there is a grouping of hapless middle-aged men who I felt weird watching as they failed.
On the other hand, if they were too competitive, I didn’t appreciate that, either. I feel bad putting Ed Gamble down at #20—I listen to him on two podcasts, but he was way too aggressively competitive in Taskmaster. It’s also part of why Iain Sterling, who otherwise would’ve had a higher spot on the list just by nature of being Scottish, but he really made an ass of himself throughout Series 8.
Bias is probably the reason my #1 is my #1. A major theme of many of my top favorites seems to be that they are lanky, smart-dumbass types.
I know there are several people will disagree with me on. Would love to hear what y’all think!
Anyway, here it is, updated through season 14.

Movies of 2022 - My Summer Rundown (Part 1)
The Runners-up:
20.  DAY SHIFT – Neflix Originals continue to plug the cinematic gaps where needed with an array of impressive (frequently OTT fun) alternatives to big screen adventures, and this bonkers action horror throwback from the makers of the John Wick movies is a pedigree example of this particularly hardy breed.  Jamie Foxx is clearly having a blast chewing the scenery as Bub, the super-violent vampire hunter looking to get back into the good graces of the big-business Los Angeles hunters’ guild that kicked him out for being too overzealous.
19.  TOP GUN: MAVERICK – After a ton of Pandemic-based delays, the long-overdue sequel to Tony Scott’s heavyweight blockbuster popcorn magnet finally arrived to significant fanfare and great box office returns, and despite the inevitable anti-US war-machine grumblings it turned out to be well worth the wait. Tom Cruise steps back into the role that MADE HIS CAREER like he’s never been away as hotshot US Navy fighter ace Pete “Maverick” Mitchell returns to the elite fighter school to train a squadron of young pilots for a desperate secret mission.  Tron: Legacy and Oblivion director Joseph Kosinski delivers thrills and spectacle by the bucketload in a bona fide rollercoaster ride that EASILY does the original justice.
18.  VENGEANCE – I love it when a sneaky smart little indie comes out of nowhere to blow me away, and this deeply satirical black comedy is a DOOZY.  B.J. Novak (The Office) makes his writer-director debut while also starring as aspiring elitist New York podcaster Ben Manalowitz, who hits upon a potential scoop when he winds up in smalltown Texas to attend the funeral of one of his former random hook-ups only to discover her family, led by her big brother Ty (an on-fire Boyd Holbrook), are convinced she was murdered.
17.  MEN – In truth more of AN EXPERIENCE than a film, this twisted existential horror fantasy is one of those movie’s you’re probably only gonna want to watch ONCE, but it’s also definitely one of those movies you REALLY SHOULD see.  Ex-Machina and Annihilation writer-director Alex Garland has put together his most full-on balls-tripping madass feature to date with this fundamentally ODD film about Harper (Wild Rose’s Jessie Buckley), a deeply troubled new widow who’s vacationing alone in a quaint English country house, only to find herself terrorised by a succession of seemingly demonic men who all have the same face (the immensely talented Rory Kinnear delivering one of the best and most impressively varied turns I’ve ever seen him deliver).
16.  SAMARITAN – Overlord director Julius Avery has delivered another cracker with this gleefully inventive and explosively robust alternative take on a superhero movie in which Sylvester Stallone lands one of his most interesting and meaty roles IN AGES as the titular former superpowered crime fighter who finds himself dragged out of his long self-imposed social exile by twelve year-old fanboy Sam (Euphoria’s Javon Walton) when local aspiring crime-boss Cyrus (a typically mesmerising Pilou Asbæk) attempts to spur a citywide uprising.
15.  LIGHTYEAR – Disney/Pixar bring the high-powered origin story of Toy Story’s intergalactic hero Buzz Lightyear to the big screen in fine style in this all-action animated sci-fi treat that sees Chris Evans take on another iconic role after ending his tenure as Captain America with his usual enthusiastic, large-than-life aplomb.  Finding Dory director Angus MacLane delivers thrills, spills and deep belly-laughs as Buzz and a ragtag crew of less-than-prime Space Rangers (which includes a wonderfully game Taika Waititi) fight to save their world from the threat of Zurg …
14.  THE FORGIVEN – Masterful writer-director John Michael McDonaugh (The Guard, Calvary) delivers an emotionally charged and deeply resonant psychological slow-burn thriller adapted from Lawrence Osborne’s acclaimed novel.  Ralph Fiennes and Jessica Chastain both deliver spellbindingly complex performances as the souring upper class couple faced with a crushing moral quandary after accidentally running over a boy in the Moroccan desert on their way to a high society party held by Matt Smith’s idle rich socialite.
13.  BEAST – Idris Elba is at his usual charismatic-yet-vulnerable best as out-of-his-depth Dr Nate Samuels, the father of two wilful teenage girls who finds himself fighting to protect his family from a ferocious rogue lion while visiting old friend Martin (Sharlto Copley), a wildlife biologist working in the South African bush.  Director Baltasar Kormakur has made quite a career shepherding man-against-nature thrillers to the big screen (The Deep, Everest, Adrift), so he’s more than capable of delivering on the super-tense thrills required here.
12.  FIRESTARTER – The second big screen adaptation of one of Stephen King’s most criminally underrated novels may have tanked at the box office (then again, its simultaneous streaming release on Peacock can’t have helped) and been largely panned by critics, but I thought it was a rousing success.  Zac Efron is darkly charismatic as telepathic fugitive Andy McGee, determined to keep his troubled pre-teen pyrokinetic daughter Charlie (The Tomorrow War’s Ryan Keira Armstrong) out of the clutches of the clandestine government outfit looking to profit from her potentially devastating powers, with Keith Thomas (director of acclaimed indie horror The Vigil) bringing Halloween Kills writer Scott Teems’ tight, taut and rewardingly stripped-back script to compelling life.
11.  THE SEA BEAST – Neflix made an impressive stab at grabbing the animation crown for the summer with this wildly-inventive and thoroughly rewarding nautical family adventure fantasy set in a world where a whole society has grown up around the hunting of massive sea monsters.  The classic pirate cinema conventions are paid suitably rip-roaring tribute as we follow Karl Urban and Jared Harris’ salty buccaneers on their quest to bring down the fearsome Red Bluster, only to discover what they’ve been brought up believing could be very wrong indeed …

MARLOWE (2023)
Starring Liam Neeson, Diane Kruger, Jessica Lange, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Ian Hart, Colm Meaney, Daniela Melchior, François Arnaud, Seána Kerslake, Danny Huston, Alan Cumming, Patrick Muldoon, Ian Hart, Jose Manuel Maciá, Roberto Peralta Maya, Stella Stocker, Michael Strelow, Julius Cotter, Mitchell Mullen and Kim DeLonghi.
Screenplay by William Monahan.
Directed by Neil Jordan.
Distributed by Open Road Films. 110 minutes. Rated R.
It takes a certain amount of bravery to play a character who has previously been portrayed by Dick Powell, Robert Mitchum, Elliott Gould and particularly Humphrey Bogart. Liam Neeson is a good enough actor that he should be up to the challenge – despite his recent wallowing in cheesy action features – however, he never feels really comfortable playing Raymond Chandler’s noir gumshoe Philip Marlowe.
Although the character has been at the center of many Hollywood classics like The Big Sleep, Farewell My Lovely, The Long Goodbye and Murder My Sweet, Marlowe is the first major (well sort of major) motion picture to feature the character in over 40 years. Also, Marlowe is not based on one of the classic Raymond Chandler tales, instead it is based on the 2014 novel The Black-Eyed Blonde by Benjamin Black, one of many Marlowe novels authorized by Chandler’s estate.
What can you say? Marlowe is no Big Sleep.
It’s okay, even perhaps a good thing, to try to resurrect a mostly forgotten style like film noir. Sadly, despite having the trappings of the genre – tough guys, femme fatales, private dicks in smart fedoras, twisty crime narratives – Marlowe mostly loses the noir. Instead, it’s a sepia-toned museum piece, one that appreciates the dark style but cannot seem to capture or advance it. (Like, say, a better backwards-gazing noir tribute like Chinatown.)
Instead, Marlowe trots out the old cliches in a slightly detached but stylish manner and never quite engages its audience.
Also, the very tonally necessary role of the city of Los Angeles in the 1930s – so important for both the genre and also this specific story – is played by Barcelona, which is a beautiful city, but looks little like LA.
As these films so often do, Marlowe opens with the gumshoe being approached in his office by a mysterious blonde with a case – one that is not exactly what she makes it seem. I’m a huge fan of Diane Krueger as an actress, but she feels uncomfortable in the femme fatale role of Clare.
But then again, as stated earlier Neeson is a terrific actor, but also wrong for Marlowe. He is honestly a little too old for the role. Also, his character is too accommodating, too prone to apologize, too timid – at least until the script required that Marlowe administer a Taken-style beat down on assorted bad guys. (Phillip Marlowe is known for his tough guy exterior, but not necessarily for fighting his way through a case.)
The rest of the sterling cast comes out looking better. Danny Huston and Alan Cummings are suitably oily as local gangsters, and Jessica Lange pretty much steals the picture as Clare’s mother, an aging and very cynical film star who is used to getting her way.
The mystery itself is strangely very complex and yet at the same time not overly intriguing or surprising. However, despite the fact that most of this doesn’t look all that much like Los Angeles, the film looks great. It is directed with workman-like economy by Neil Jordan (Mona Lisa, The Crying Game).
Listen, I think it’s great that someone decided to revive the mostly moribund film noir genre. And frankly, Marlowe may have been easier to take had they just made it about a random LA shamus, rather than making it about one of the most iconic names in the genre. At the very least, critics and fans would not feel as much need to compare it to the stories that came before.

VAMPIRE COUPLE KILLS AN INNOCENT YOUNG GIRL: THE TRAGIC MURDER OF STACEY MITCHELL
Tumblr media
WHO WAS STACEY MITCHELL?
Not much is known about Stacey Mitchell's childhood. She was born in 1990 and lived in Dorset in the UK with her loving parents, older brother, and two younger sisters. When she was ten years old they moved to Australia. She was known as a friendly, kind, outgoing person. However, when she was sixteen years old, she and her parents began to argue a lot, and Stacey decided it was time to run away from home. She was reported missing on December 13th 2007. A mutual friend introduced Stacey to her future killers Valerie Parashumti, 19,  and Jessica Stasinowsky, 21. The couple allowed Stacey to move in, and pretended to be her friends.
THE TROUBLED COUPLE
Jessica’s parents divorced when she was young, and she allegedly had a very lonely childhood. She ran away from home, lived on the street, got involved with drugs, and made her money by prostitution. She also had a history of cutting and burning herself, and generally felt emotionless.
Valerie was physically abused by her father from the ages of 3-16, and she had to protect her three younger siblings from his wrath. At one point her father went to prison for beating their mother. She began having most of her problems after her parents divorced in 2004. Around this time she also suffered with a few head injuries. The court also described her as a sexual sadist and became aroused by torture and blood. Valerie has been part of a vampire subculture since she was ten years old, and admitted that she enjoyed drinking human blood.
Together, they were a disaster in the making.
LEADING UP TO THE MURDER
Stacey only knew these girls for five days. Within such a very short time, these women decided to plot for her murder. It took five days to carry out their plan, but they already decided after ONE single day of knowing Stacey, that she just “had to go.” The girls both found Stacey to simply be annoying, but the main reason for the murder was due to jealousy. Jessica saw Stacey’s behavior was flirtatious towards Valerie, when in reality she was just trying to fit in. Jessica brought up her jealous feelings to her lover Valerie, and instead of simply kicking Stacey out and sending her back to her parents, Valerie decided to prove her love by killing her. The pair wrote down everything they’d need for this murder, and decided to throw a fake party as a girls night. They’d drug her and get her so drunk that she wouldn’t be able to fight back or run away.
HE KNEW OF THEIR PLAN AND MADE NO ATTEMPT TO STOP IT
David Haynes, 27, was another roommate. The day before the murder he found out about the deadly duo’s plan. David told them that Stacey made “distressing” comments about one of his male friends. This news just annoyed them even more. Valerie told him, “No one should destroy your happiness, and you kill anyone who doesn’t. He chuckled at this comment and told her that it was a great idea, but he can think of much better people to kill instead of Stacey. Later that same day David walked in on Jessica grinding up glass and asked her what she was doing with it. Jessica was completely honest and informed him that she planned to put the glass into Stacey’s drink to cause her an “agonizing death.” David warned her that causing an agonizing death might alert the neighbors. Jessica laughed in response and said, “don’t worry, I’ll just bury her head in the ground to shut her up.” The duo tried to get him involved in their murder, but he promptly declined. However, he made no attempt to report their plan to the police, and instead decided to simply ignore it, even though it was going down in his own home.
THE MURDER
On December 18th David locked himself up in his room and blasted his music. Jessica had already given Stacey a date rape drug, however she told Stacey it was ecstacy. The duo were sitting in the kitchen taking shots of whisky and taking Stilnox tablets. Sitting there with them was poor Stacey, completely out of it, and not aware at all that these two monsters next to her were about to attack her. Just a little while later, David heard one of the women yell” NOW NOW NOW,” and heard Stacey crying for help. Instead of helping her, he decided to flee the home. Valerie bludgeoned Stacey in the back of the head with a concrete slab. She hit her so hard that the slab broke in half, and the assault continued. Jessica joined in on the assault and took off her belt and used it to strangle Stacey. This vicious attack went on for 45 minutes before she died. The couple celebrated what they did by standing over Stacey’s dead body and kissed.
THE MURDER VIDEO
The duo wanted to document their murder by recording it on one of their cell phones. In the video they show the murder scene, where they buried her body, and they were mocking Stacey's British accent and generally talked very badly about her. Stacey’s body was put into a wheelie bin and stored in their shed. After David came back home the three of them went to a local hardware store to try and sell the things they used in the murder, which were a chainsaw and spades. Sadly, Stacey had reconciled with her parents and informed them that she’d be coming home the next day.
PRISON
Valerie, Jessica, and David all plead guilty to the murder. David was only given a two year sentence for being an accessory. However, in March 2008, both girls were sentenced to life in a strict security prison, as neither of them showed an ounce of remorse, and were smirking and laughing throughout their trial.
