Transformers: Mosaic #311 - "No Pets"
Originally posted on November 30th, 2008
Story - Mari Peres Art, Letters - Joana Lafuente
deviantART | Seibertron | TFW2005 | BotTalk
wada sez: A cute little follow-up to Spotlight: Ramjet, which was one of very few from the early run not written by Simon Furman, instead being written by New Avengers/Transformers scribe Stuart Moore. In that story, the megalomaniacal Ramjet had created for himself some henchmen in the form of the “Mini-Constructicons”—who talked using, shall we say, distinctive Earth slang. Naturally, Furman never brought the Mini-Constructicons back for his stories, meaning it wasn’t until John Barber’s tentpole arc returned to Earth that anybody did anything with them! This strip posits that Thundercracker adopted one—a dynamic honestly not dissimilar to his relationship with Buster under Barber’s pen—and that Skywarp meanwhile had a pet Kremzeek.

Megatron’s Fate in Lost Light
(Spoilers for the end of Transformers: Lost Light)
In the final issue, it’s left vague whether Megatron receives a life sentence or the death penalty, but there’s one piece of evidence that I often see people point to as proof of death and I really don’t get it.
At Ratchet’s memorial, Rodimus leaves Megatron’s Rodimus Star, implying he’s had it since the trial.
Tumblr media
People have taken that to mean Megatron was executed and Rodimus had the Star ever since. BUT! I took it to mean that there’s no personal belongings in prison and that’s why Rodimus had it. More specifically, I assumed if Megatron was dead the Star would be buried or cremated or launched into space along with his body. The fact it was ultimately left at a memorial just raises the question of why not Megatron’s memorial?
Of course, in the story itself it’s vague, and what’s the point of leaving it open and then giving a definitive answer? I remember what Frank Darabont said about Blade Runner, the only correct answer to whether or not Deckard is a replicant is ‘maybe’.
(I’ve got a much more complicated post about Lost Light’s end in the works, along with one on Blade Runner, so I like how they sort of tied together here)

wada sez: Nothing much to say about this one, it’s a continuity-light Animated strip, though I’ve got to give credit to Lafuente—her expressive style is a perfect fit here.

Has any one else read Earthdivers: Kill Columbus? I read volume 1 yesterday, its about some indigenous people in 2112 going back in time to kill Christopher Columbus. I felt like I was missing alot because it seemed like the characters were from a series before this series and the reader should know who they were but I couldn't find a prequel series. Have some cover art!

Thank you Facebook for informing me that this comic came out 6 years ago this week. 😦 It still boggles my mind sometimes that I got to write and draw an official Simon and Marcy story (for Adventure Time Comics #16).
(Credits to Joana LaFuente for the colors, and Jim Campbell for the lettering.)
