El gran JOAQUIN PHOENIX cumple 48 años

Un 28 de octubre de 1974 nace en San Juan de Puerto Rico el actor estadounidense Joaquín Phoenix.

El 28 de octubre de 1993 era jueves, por lo que es probable que Joaquin, que aquel día cumplía 19 años, esperase al sábado 30 para celebrarlo con sus hermanos River y Rain. O quizá estaban festejando Halloween. O, simplemente, salieron como tantos jóvenes hacen cada fin de semana.

Lo que no imaginaba jamás es que aquella noche su vida cambiaría por completo, y que la tragedia seguiría resonando como un eco muchos años después, como demostró cuando, al subir a recoger su Oscar, rindió homenaje a su hermano River.

Para Joaquin, que  cumple 48 años, el día de su aniversario debe suponer sentimientos contrapuestos.

Dos días después, su hermano sufría una sobredosis letal: fallecía unas horas después, en la madrugada del 31 de octubre. Su hermana Rain y él estaban presentes aquella noche, igual que la actriz Samantha Mathis, novia entonces de River. La narración de los hechos es confusa, pero todas coinciden en lo mismo: tras consumir distintas drogas, comenzó a sufrir convulsiones en la puerta del Viper Room, el local de moda de Los Ángeles en aquel momento. Johnny Depp era entonces su copropietario, y aquel incidente lo situaba en el centro de una de las muchas polémicas vividas por el actor desde entonces hasta hoy.

Joaquin, el tercero de los cinco hermanos Phoenix, siempre admiró a River. De hecho, es actor porque veía la pasión que aquel le ponía a su trabajo y quiso seguir su estela, no solo como intérprete, sino también como activista, algo que le ha traído más de un problema. Nunca sabremos hasta dónde habría llegado su hermano de seguir vivo, pero lo que sí está claro es que ha honrado su nombre con creces. Hasta ahora lleva cuatro nominaciones al Oscar, de las cuales una, la que recibió por "Joker"

En febrero de 2020, al recoger su Oscar, Joaquin estuvo a punto de quebrarse al hablar de su hermano. Habían pasado casi 27 años y el dolor seguía vivo. Quizá aún no sabía que Rooney Mara, su pareja actual, estaba embarazada de un niño al que pondrían el nombre de River. Una manera más de rendir homenaje a quien fue su inspiración.

Raphael:

Big brother Raph might very much want some more “traditional” names for his children. Names that might be a little bit more common, but still very beautiful. Of course, Raph would very much want to hear what his future partner thinks of these names, before settling on any of them.

For Boys:

Edward, meaning “rich guard”.

Arthur, meaning “strong as a bear”.

Adam, the name of the first human man in the Bible.

For Girls:

Beatrice, from French, Italian and Latin origin meaning “voyager” or “traveler”.

Leonardo:

Would it surprise anyone that Neon Leon would want to give his children a Spanish name? Not really. Most people would have seen that coming from a mile away. A very avid Spanish speaker himself, it just feels natural for Leo. And if his future partner is up for it, then he already has a few ideas.

Marco, most likely derived from Mars, the god of war.

Joaquín, the Spanish version of the name Joachim.

But he would do this very early on, seeing that as one of the many reasons why Angelo would only want to give his children gender neutral names. A name he would be able to use early on, while giving his child a chance to explore their own identity, with a name that wouldn’t upstruct that.

How fancy J is?

And not particularly one, ok, like, ALL OF THEM???

I'm gonna talk only about Ledger J and Phoenix J as I adore them equally the most out of all character interpretations, but the animated ones, Nicholson etc., they all represent such CLASS&STYLE through their colorfulness and extravagance, yet they still keep the darkness within them in their appearance as well.

Their clothing literally reflects their identity; there's a plethora of colors, accessories etc., the true chaos, and as we know, J is an agent of it, but at the same time that chaos creates a single whole, where all the pieces perfectly blend in with each other.

J makes first impression of a silly clown with no sense of style hence many wrongly underestimate him to his advantage, but the closer and more attentively we look, the more well-thought-out and, what's even more crucial, the more functional and practical his garment turns out to be.

ISN'T THAT SICK?? LOOK AT THIS--

We've got so many colors here: purple, green, blue, brown, grey and even orange, but at the same time the whole outfit doesn't look flash, You know?

The colors are soft and dusty-like, so they make J look almost normal (as for Gotham standards) as nothing is out of place there thus he doesn't stand out of the crowd, this enables him to easily blend in.

Moreover, the darkness, which is a byword for him, is visibly present thanks to this.

Also, let's pay attention to the big number of layers he wears: coat, jacket, vest and shirt? Isn't that quite a lot?

Stated: N O, because I feel it's not a coincidence either, it's symbolic of the fact that he's more than meets the eye, there's much more to him than he let's us see and that he always has some backup plan, an ace up his sleeve.

It's a metaphore for the comlpexity of everything that makes him "him"; his uncertain past, ambiguous motives of his actions and ideas (so called "messages" ;D), his deep personality which seems to have no bottom or end.

and that - THAT, MY DEAR READERS - is why we find him so interesting, that's why he attracts us so hard and makes us love/admire/respect him.

We never know his next move, plot-twist pursues plot-twist in the reality he creates around us, we don't know what to expect from him as we don't know almost anything about him, actually. We can try to understand and interpret him, but we'll never be sure whether it's true about him or not.

On the other hand, this J is a practical man; many layers of clothing = many pockets and hidden inserts, which provide him with a huge storage room for weapons (mostly his knives), amunition and so on.

I don't know about that, but I have a feeling thick clothing could probably also protect him from injuries...

...and cold, because there's hardly ever sunshine in Gotham and it f*cking always rains there, I'd dress in layers as well if I were to live in that hellhole.

*exhausted sigh* aight, let's move on to the next one: Joaquín Phoenix Joker.

He's just... Aahh. Yeah, basically--

I must quit talking for a sec and show You:

We've got Arthur and J

Now tell me, if You didn't know the movie, would it ever cross Your mind that these two are actually one and the same person?

Cause I WOULD BE OBLIVIOUS AF.

And the reason for all of that is a huge contrast between mr. Fleck and mr. J.

His character reminds me of a caterpillar attending eclosion, like, he had to first turn into a total goo (an invisible man at the rock bottom of his life wearing some invisible colors matching his surroundings: grey for the repulsive pavements, dirty yellowish something for damp patches on the city buildings' walls, dark brown for the trash lying on the streets) so he could then transform into magnificent butterfly loved and admired by many, but also feared by the others (just look at the butterfly's close-up and You'll understand what I'm sayin' :'D)

He literally blossomed in this movie, thanks to falling apart and going mad he got rebuilt and became his true self, finally noticed, finally respected.

Ofc in a terrifying way, losing sanity, killing people and turning into a monster is unforgivable and undefendable.

But, like an animal brought up in captivity and all of sudden released to the wild, like this butterfly, he had to reach his true form, had to become what society made him into - and it is emphasized in the transition in his way of clothing.

I also think his fate was decided the moment Penny adopted him, or even earlier, when he got put in the orphanage - to my mind a brilliant example of fatum motive from Classical antiquity, cockeyed from his very beginning, without the slightest chance of changing his fate, whatever he does or doesn't do, it brings him closer and closer to the inavitable end... which, simultaneously and ironically, is a moment of birth of his new "me".

Aaaaand I got carried away a little with my character analysis again, sorry for that, but hey! It's all written all over his outfit ;))

Arthur is an embodiment of the word "nobody" or, as spoken earlier, "invisible" - he even said "If it was me dying on the sidewalk You'd walk right over me!" and it's true as he actually looks like the sidewalk, like these sleazy streets people turn they sight away from, so he can't be spotted, he uknowingly doesn't allow people to see him.

BUT--

After accepting his new persona he explodes with colors the same way he does with his beliefs and emotions, mostly pity, rage and hate. And as we know, extreme anger is often associated with bright red, which is dominant in his new look. Additionally, red is kings' color and we know Arthur's Joker at the end of the movie is kind of worshipped by many Gotham's citizens as if he was their god and saviour - like the true Clown Prince of Crime he is.

He finally sets free everything boiling inside of him for years of his misery and it spills over his clothes, but it suits him greatly - it's not a total mess, he's at last neat and clean, not unkempt and ragged like before. Everything is well-fitted and thus makes J look more confident and attractive even, the bright colours optically enlarging his figure in comparison to thin, rat-looking loser he was.

So yeah, they both are my favourite for different reasons and their style is just so full of depth and imagery. Gotta love our multihued clowns <3

Hehe uh so uh i wanted to try out my own rendition of William afton pre springtrap, and he always gave me Willem Dafoe, Joaquín Phoenix Joker, and Billy Butcher (comic ver.) from The Boys. Eheheheuheheheh honestly I think that even before springtrap, he still smelled like something rotted with a coat of cigarette smoke LMAO. Also the last image was a rushed sketch bc I was feeling lazy atm LOL SKDNSKD.

UH I don’t have too much on Will pre spring BUTT, I do think he was an abusive father (not husband, he manipulated his way through a lot of things, he kinda played the favorites thing with Clara). He rlly did love Clara, but the kids were smthn else. Honestly, he always kinda gave me Clay Puppington vibes when it would come to his psychology of being a father(Ik, I’m so original LOL). Like, the only form of genuine love he knew how to express was like the beatings thing, he would lie, beat, and or ignore/be a petty bitch rlly rlly often, but that was all he rlly knew. Ofc, he would kiss his kids, hug them, tuck them in and such, but every time he did that, it was usually smthn he’d force himself to do wether it was to make himself look good, or even convince himself that he isn’t a bad father(he is). When it came to Will and Michael, I think it was genuinely just one of those things where the eldest child and the parent always had a strained relationship, regardless of the eldest being a teen or adult. He would mostly do all that abusive stuff towards Michael especially, since he “loves” and “cares” for him, and wants to “prepare” him since he was a teenager by then. (Take those “” words as u will, this isn’t a way to make sympathy towards Will btw lol, it was just my thoughts on him and how he might have thought as a parent. This possibly doesn’t make sense, maybe it does, idk)

6. Underrated moment.

I’ve gotta go with Hangman and Rooster vs Mav dogfight practice because you get Mav inverting over Rooster (my fave Mav move!!!), then both of them trying to piss each other off in the spiral, all while Hangman is just watching bewildered (“What is WITH these two?”) and bonus Phoenix and Bob mutually stressing together in the ready room!!! Idk I just love that scene a lot 🥰

8. Favorite character

My underrated king Fanboy!!! I’ve been swooning over Danny Ramirez ever since Falcon and the Winter Soldier (come home Joaquín I miss you baby 😩) and Fanboy was just so cute and funny and supportive and has such a great camaraderie with Payback!!! I just wanna be nerdy with him 🥹

10. Favorite hug

As much as I love all the hugging at the end, the IceMav hug reigns supreme in my heart 😩 seeing them back together even for just one scene was so heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time, and I understand why but I wish Ice had stayed alive so he and Mav could have celebrated together after the mission 😭😭😭😭😭😭

Hace algunas horas el director Todd Phillips confirmó la secuela del #Joker, la cual se llamará “Locura de dos”. En su cuenta de Instagram, Phillips publicó una fotografía de Phoenix, quien ganó el Oscar a Mejor Actor por ese papel, leyendo el guión de la secuela. Otra foto en la red social ya lo muestra con el nombre “The Joker, Folie à Deux”. La Clasificación Internacional de Enfermedades CIE-10 define “Folie à Deux” como trastornos en el que dos personas comparten síntomas psiquiátricos, y aunque ni el actor ni el director profundizaron en la publicación, el título del guión deja intuir que la secuela continuará explorando los trastornos mentales de su protagonista. Además, la presencia de Martin Scorsese como productor, agregará otro condimento a la cuenta regresiva por la vuelta del “Guasón”. Sobre la impactante #Joker de 2019, el cineasta Michael Moore decía: “Nos han dicho que es violenta, enferma y moralmente corrupta, una incitación y celebración del asesinato.
